Yesterday, my wife and I were looking for a quick lunch (I only get 30 minutes), and between us, we had had our fill of sandwiches. In fact, when she asked what I was hungry for, I said "something I have to eat with a fork." Apparently that narrowed the plethora of restaurants around UAB down to the China Master Express, which sounded good to me. My wife told me she'd call me from the restaurant after she had ordered our food. At approximately 12:15 p.m., my wife called and said she had ordered and was sitting at a table in the back of the restaurant. It took her longer to walk from her office to the restaurant than it took her to order and find a table in the restaurant. When I got to the restaurant about 10 minutes later, one of the ladies was putting our food on the table. We both got sweet and sour chicken and plain fried rice. The portions were ridiculous, and after cleaning my plate, I needed a power nap, but I had to get back to work. :( Like the previous reviewer said, you cannot go wrong with China Master for good Chinese food on the go. If you need a quick meal and are in the mood for Chinese, try China Master Express. If it's also a warm, sunny day, you can take your meal outside to a table in front of the restaurant.

Ordered at 630PM on grubhub. Said it would be delivered at 830PM. 850PM no food, grubhub reaches out and says it will be here at 908PM and then 915PM grubhub calls and said this place cancelled the order and it wasn't coming. DO NOT EAT HERE. Very disappointed.

Not bad. Delivered to the hotel on time and handled a mixup with grace. I'd order again when in the area.

The place is nothing extraordinary nor the menu...but I give an star just for the ladies who work there....I called on almost at close time and she was kind enough to wait 15min past their close time calling in a few times to check if am on the way. Not something you can expect from a stranger on a cold winter night. Prices are good...definitely worth the penny compared to the bad ones at the mall.

I love this place! I always get an entree with Rice , Noodles, General Tso's & Teriyaki Chicken! My Favorite! And I also like to get and order of the Mushroom Soup, best Mushroom soup I've had! Mother loves the Beef & Broccoli. Thumbs Up!

First of all its buffet, yuck. Sweet and sour chicken was ok but no vegetables. Not impressed at all.

This is run-of-the-mill Americanized Chinese food. It's nothing special, but then again it doesn't aspire to anything more than it is. As has been said before, it is fairly cheap (~$7), but unfortunately they have recently reduced the size of their portions rather than increasing their prices. I would say the plate I had today was 1/3 the size of a couple years ago. Still tasty.

Quick and cheap. Nothing amazing but a good place to go for lunch around the UAB area. With food cost going up everywhere, this place still has remarkable prices.

I rate this higher than some other Chinese places who I think have slightly better food because of how quick this food is and how cheap it is.those are the three factors in my rating scale, and they have high marks in 2. The food is average but is quick and cheap. Better than typical mall Chinese in my opinion.

When you want good Chinese food on the go, you can't go wrong with china master! Birmingham has tons of chinese but none can top this place. They are extremely friendly and quick when it comes to service! The restrooms are clean and the food is good!

Very good food with some friendliest staff around. Always good specials. An excellent choice if you're on your lunch break and need to get in and out quickly.

Not good at all. Typical dried out steam table food. Noodles were tough and everything was breaded and dry.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
