Baker's Famous is, as other people have noted, a neighborhood pizza joint doing everyday takeout/delivery pizza. Their food is exactly what you'd expect: gooey cheese, lots of toppings, slightly-spicy slightly-sweet tomato sauce, and crisp crust ... all served up with a big smile. And then, of course, there's the goofy smile on YOUR face after you've bitten into it. It's wonderful! I agree with what others have said -- the cheesy bread is good and the wings are great, but the pizza is really the main attraction. The pizza crust comes in two different varieties: hand-tossed and thin-crust. Both taste very good; I'm a fan of the hand-tossed, myself. The Baker's Favorite is dynamite, and they layer on those meats as if they were going out of style. It's definitely a step up from big chain pizzas (e.g. Domino's, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, Hungry Howie's), and you get to support a local business while you're at it. In summary, this is my go-to delivery pizza place. Highly recommended!

We've been loyal customers since they opened however tonight was a bad night. We ordered one medium two topping pizza at 5:57pm. Was told it would take an hour to deliver. That is a longer time than usual. The pizza was delivered at 7:35pm. That's an hour and 38 minutes! Driver told us he is the only driver tonight and apologized. Also, order was wrong. We ordered regular crust and got thin crust (or maybe it was waiting so long it fell!). Could taste that it had been sitting a while before delivery. Very disappointed in delivery length, time spent under heat lamp and fact we were not offered a future replacement pizza for the ridiculously long delivery time. If we'd known it would take so long we'd have ordered elsewhere. Bad job, Baker's!

Now this rating may be unfair compared to other ratings, but again, I never claim to have good taste and I have an unexplained weakness for soggy goopy pizza. The portions here are tiny so this absolutely perfect for people like me who want to cheat on their diet but don't want to make up for it. The largest pizza here according to their menu is a 14" pizza so there's not (as much) guilt in eating 3 slices in one round. My pizza order consisted of the half ham and half Outlaw (mushrooms, sausage, pepperoni, onion, and bell peppers). It might seem like at first appearance the ham was left out but you taste it in there somewhere. The lady working at the register was prompt and efficient. She gets you in and out the door in less than a minute. The projected wait time is fifteen minutes but I'm sure it was much shorter since the time I made the call to the time I made the drive to get there was less than that. There's no reason to eat inside this restaurant because it looks run down and unkept but the outside seating and the patio seating to the left of the restaurant is oddly nice.

Baker's had always been one of my favorites & now that I'm on Yelp I gotta give it my first review. The food is always great, hot & never late. In fact usually deliver sooner than the time frame if you live in Bluff Park area. Staff always knows it's you when you call to order & ask if you want your regular which I like. And when you see the staff around bluff park in other places like Pig Wig or Dollar G they always say hi. Very good food from very cool people.

Don't let the three star review fool you. Baker's Famous Pizza is good pizza. Very good pizza for the Birmingham area. Is it Gino's East, Lou Malnati's, Sal & Carmine's, or Di Fara's good? No. If I could have a sliding scale that would adjust for the Birmingham area, I would say it is a 4 star pizza, but Yelp doesn't roll that way. Forget the garlic bread. There is nothing special about it. Concentrate on the pizza. We got the Baker's favorite -- Canadian Bacon, Sausage, and Pepperoni. It's nothing fancy, just a lot of tasty meat, a good quality cheese and nice sauce. I was strangely compelled to eat almost the entire large pizza. I did not like the fact that I had to share the pizza with the rest of my family. Baker's fits an interesting niche in my pizza world. It's not quite Tortuga's pizza, but Tortuga's doesn't deliver. Baker's is much better than the Papa John's and Domino's who do deliver. For my money it's the best pizza that delivers in the area. The next time you are too lazy to get off the couch and want an above average pizza delivered to you in the Hoover area, don't hesitate to pick up the phone.

Surprised! I have never heard of this place, but saw it after buying a few groceries. I am always open to finding a new pizza spot and this one overshot my expectations. The carryout specials are great and they do not short you on the toppings!!! Will be there again soon. Keep up the good work!

Love the crust on the pizzas, and I've never had to wait long to dig in. They also have wings (with high quality chicken) and really good subs too!

The hubby and I are on a serious quest to find our new favorite pizza place. Our first one changed hands and went on rock slide. The second one closed down last year. I love a crispy thin crust but also like a good hand tossed style crust or deep dish. So we've bookmarked a couple of joints to try and this was our first stop. Round 1 of Pizza Quest: After winding through the neighborhoods of Bluff Park we finally arrived, a little confused and dizzy, at the old Piggly Wiggly shopping center to find Baker's Famous Pizza. It's more of a delivery place than dine-in but thankfully they have two two-seater tables for the oblivious diners like us. There was one girl working when we arrived and boy was she ever working hard, making pizzas and taking phone orders. She even brought us out some garlic bread for us to chow on while we waited on our pizza. There was a couple of girls who had been sitting at the other table since before we arrived and they had quite a large order of pizzas, probably 7 or 8. So I was shocked when our pizza came out in less than 20 min. I don't know how that one girl got all of that done in such a reasonable amount of time with all the other she was doing. THE PIZZA:We'd ordered a large, thin crust Baker's Favorite which is topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Canadian bacon. -The cheese was super gooey, the melted strings stretched as you pulled a piece away. Yum yum. -The crust was very thin and ALMOST cracker like if it had been just a little crispier. It was still very good but I could tolerate a little more crispiness. I know that's hard to achieve on such a thin crust. -They were extremely generous with the toppings. The Italian sausage was excellent. -The sauce was a little sweet. We typically like a little kick in our sauce but the flavor wasn't unpleasant and it tasted fresh. The more I ate the more I enjoyed it. I am very curious about their regular crust as well. It's currently the best thin crust pizza of what we've tried that's actually still available. I do recommend it for those in the area.

Less than a week ago i had pizza and spaghetti dinner delivered to my hotel and it was great. So i thought i would repeat the process on tonight (01-31-2015). I was quickly informed that they do not deliver to my area ( which is only 5.2 miles away). So i proceeded to ask why and how could you deliver before? The answer i received was it was a mistake, someone should have told you. So i told the female on the phone, thats funny you even called back to verify my credit card information. Which gives your employee (s) 2 opportunities to inform me you dont deliver to me. In short if the incompetence of the people answering the phone is any indication of how the business is run i suggest not going here. However the food was absolutely great.

The staff at Baker's last night was impeccable. I am 6 months pregnant and was starving! They had my pizza ready in 10 minutes and even brought it outside to me!! The pizza was fantastic as always. Thanks Baker's for being a part of Bluff Park's finest!!

This pizza wasn't good. It was dry, tough, and not fresh tasting. Won't order it again.

Solid local pizza. This is my safe place when needing nighttime nourishment. Their thin crust is my favorite.

Pizza is well above average (I hesitate to use the word "great") and prices are more than fair. Delivers into Oxmoor Valley, including the Oxmoor Glen and Oxmoor Ridge developments. I still prefer the taste of Papa Johns, but for locally owned you won't be disapointed.

Best delivered slice on the Bluff by far. Our family looks forward to bad weather days so we get to eat delivered baker's pizza.
