We really enjoyed this classic American place. I had an "Alabama Dog" (photo) with bacon, chedder, ranch, ketchup (not bad) My wife liked whatever salad she got. The interior is an old drug store, done up real nice. The service is very sweet, and the location is on a pretty picturesque little Main Street. Will definitely come back when in this part of Alabama.

We happened to go on Fathers' Day, and there was a buffet. They offered 3 types of meat, potatoes, casserole and gravy as well as collards, black eyed peas and dessert. Very southern, and delicious! The price was EXTREMELY reasonable ($13.50, I believe). The decor was great. Old fashioned soda bar when you walk in, and nice dining room to the left. The service was friendly and attentive. Kim waited on us, and everyone there was helpful, including Paul at the bar. Can't wait to go back and try their regular menu!

One of the only places to eat near Eufala, Huggin Molly's probably gets a lot of their business by default. If you find yourself in the area, keep driving. The service is slow and the food is mediocre at best. Frozen chicken fingers, lackluster sandwiches and unappetizing blue plate specials will leave you wishing you had made a better dining choice!

My favorite restaurant in Abbeville. Step back in time at the soda fountain. You'll love the movie posters and the authentic gun from the Ole' Yellow movie. The food is really good. .. wonderful sweet potato fries....don't leave without dessert. ...especially a Golly Molly!

It was much better than I expected in the middle of Alabama. We were driving through towards Dothan and after a quick review of Dothan's food and dining options we decided to make a quick stop to try and support this local business. If you're not from around here - beware - the restaurants in this area close very early compared to major cities. On the Thursday night we were there the restaurant closing time was 8pm (!) and when we walked in at 7:15pm we were given the side-eye from employees hoping to leave a few minutes early....floors were already mopped, all sidework completed, etc. Just make sure to check the hours before you make the trip. The dining area is split into a soda-fountain-esque bar area and a larger dining room on the other side of it. It's a clean, casual place decked out in wood floors and wood tables. I loved all the 50s-inspired decor. For food: we started with the mozzarella sticks which is exactly the same thing you've had at 143 other restaurants. Nothing special but also no surprises. For dinner, I had the burger steak, which was essentially a burger patty topped with some onions & gravy. It came with a side of mashed potatoes and cheddar biscuits. Everything on my plate screamed average: mashed potatoes served lukewarm, cheddar biscuits taste was OK but they were small and dry, and my burger was just fine. The thing is though, when traveling outside of major cities my expectations are much, much lower and so in a way they were exceeded by this meal. We also had a beer to drink with our meal, and apparently this is news the local folks we know in Dothan! They do serve beer & wine now. And not just any beer, they had some bottles of a local Alabama brew for only $3.50 a piece! We were very happy with that! Huggin' Molly's comes in at 3.5 stars since they exceeded my expectations, but the food just didn't garner the 4th star. But, I would recommend it if you are in the area as a nice place to go that does feel more of an official establishment and less hole-in-the-wall (not that there is anything wrong with that!).

The atmosphere is delightful and the wait staff is amazing!!! However, the food is delicious if all you want is grease. My grandparents have been coming here for years and over the past couple years, the food has gone way down hill! So sad because it's a precious little place but stay away from the food!

The food was great. I had the cheese sticks, a cheeseburger w/ a side salad and a Chocolate milkshake. The cheese sticks are homemade and delicious. The burger was really good, however it didn't blow me away. The milkshake was really good. I'd recommend this place to anyone passing through!!!

Abbeville is a small town and we didn't see many places to eat. Well after heading downtown we saw Huggin Molly's and it looked inviting. As soon as you walk in it looks like a throwback 50's diner. They have memorabilia from yesteryear and everyone is smiling and super friendly. They have a long bar where they serve fountain drinks and desert which looked cool and retro. Upon taking us in the back to where more tables were the places looks like some elegant restaurant. Cloth napkins are set at every table and old frame posters and wall art from years ago. Huggin Molly was also featured in Southern Living magazine. Since it was around 3PM and we were gonna eat later, we got appetizers and some sandwiches. I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich and is soooo good! The come back Molly sauce was very tasty and the tomatoes were done just right. They came with homemade chips that were crispy and light. The sweet potato fries with honey butter were perfect. Later that night I had the country fried steak and it was tasty but a little salty for my tasty. The sweet potato was huge and skin just came off the sweet potato like nothing. If I ever stop back in Abbeville this is where I'll come to eat.

Huggin' Molly's is a great place to visit if you find yourself on US 431 near Abbeville. The building has been restored to resemble an old fashioned restaurant and soda fountain. Several of the buildings on the same block and throughout the town have also been restored to resemble something out of the 1950's. We ate there during the evening and walked around the town before and after dinner. The 1950's style store fronts and the deserted sidewalks made the experience a bit surreal. The food was actually pretty good. I had a burger and fries and sampled some of the chicken pot pie and onion rings. All were good and hot! I would definitely visit again the next time I drive through the area.

We stopped in here for lunch after hearing how great the place was. We started off with some fried dill pickles. They were OK, not great, they could have used some type of seasoning as the batter had none. I got chicken fingers and fries. The price was very good the fingers, fries and the drink was only $5. The atmosphere was great and the food was just OK. We may give it another try when we are that way again.

This restaurant that takes you bake 50-100 years into the past. Atmosphere: The building is 100+ years old and made of brick. The waitress (Debi) told me that the restaurant building had served as a drug store, doctors office, and restaurant during its 100+ years of use. The owner collected hundred of antique posters and memorabilia that is displayed-very cool. The place even has an early 20th century soda fountain that still works. Food: Rich and hearty southern cooking that definitely isn't designed for those on a diet. We tried the appetizer and seafood sampler platter that provided a good overview of their seafood and appetizer menu. Every dish had it's own home-made dipping sauce. Really loved the fried pickles. Service: Very good. The kitchen made a mistake on another customer's dessert order, and asked us if we wanted to eat the brownie sundae at no cost instead of throwing the food away. It was very nice of them to offer that dessert at no cost.

my favorite kind of restaurant - a local hole in the wall, reminds me a lot of Brightstar. Very friendly staff and wonderful ambience of an old style diner. Tonight was a dinner for a prom group and it was very loud. The food - we had the special - grilled chix with dirty rice and broccoli with cheese sauce. the chix was grilled well and was moist, was a bit small on portion size, the rice was good, the broccoli was 3 pieces with cheese sauce - no seasoning. the food was drizzled with balsamic reduction sauce and raspberry reduction, the latter was too sweet. dessert was a blondie with icecream - the blondie was good the icecream too sugary. overall 4 stars due to the wonderful service and people working there.

Cannot rate the food as service was terrible, waited 45 minutes for a BLT and a plate of cheddar biscuts, they never came and we left. it was a busy on 7 Apr at 1pm. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated, the food that was delivered to the other tables looked plentyful, well prepared and didn't hear anyone complain. Guess Molly decided that kin folk of the Riley family didn't need to eat and misplaced our order. The rating of two stars is based solely on the service and I'm sure if I decide to drive the 2 hours and try Huggin Molly's out again I'll be able to give a higher rating. Ihope Molly understands and doesn't find her way to Columbus Ga to give me a big hug and scream in my ear.

Hidden gems are all the more precious for the work you have to do to uncover them. Huggin' Molly's has billboards you might be encouraged to disregard as you make your way down the road, but rest assured there a) is nothing better around and b) is no reason to increase my rating because of this. This place would hold its own even if it were somewhere busy and I look forward to segmenting more time to sample on my next passing through. The Space Huggin' Molly's is a soda fountain style place located in a quaint downtown area of Abbeville. You will either park street side or along the narrow strip of parking down the building's side. Walking in is quite a treat, with various antique items to really give it an old school, soda fountain feel. There is the fountain area with stools or the main dining area in the next room, both of which appeared spotless. The Service Though I only got a dessert item (I was in a rush to get there but I wanted to sample what a soda fountain was all about: the fountain), they were quick to greet me and I was promptly taken care of despite others being there to have lunch. The Food I ordered what is referred to as the Half Brother. It is, in essence, a chocolate brownie sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped nuts, and a cherry on top. It is the "half" brother because it is a half-serving, and considering how big mine was, I am thankful I did not let my sweet tooth talk me into the bigger portion. To accurately summarize will not require much detail: the brownie was definitely made from-scratch and was the best part by a mile, considering the ice cream is commercial and the toppings were as well. I happen to be ok with the commercial ice cream they use so I was content, though it would have been a very special experience were this ice cream homemade. Final Thoughts The hours make this place a hassle for those traveling, simply because 3 days of the week they are open for only 3 hours. That said, the menu looks impressive even if you ignore the fact that this is your best bet for miles. I absolutely suggest you save your appetite for Huggin' Molly's before caving into the temptation of a fast food franchise.

We had dinner in the dining room & walked down into the soda fountain area & enjoyed a great dessert ! Y'all are lucky if Michael is working behind the soda fountain! He makes a mean cool treat!
