Service was great. The fish tasted so clean and fresh. It had just the right amount of beer batter breading on it. The chowder had good flavor and was hearty. Full of potatoes bacon clams etc. Ample seating indoors and outdoors. I wish I could've sat outdoors but it was raining. Small selection to the menu but what they have seems to be local and fresh.

Chowder was really....weird. Pretty much a cup of watered down melted butter with some bacon bits and some clams. The cod and chips were decent enough. The service was wonderfully attentive.

The Raven Dining Room and Kadataan Lounge are part of the Westmark Sitka Hotel. The food is pretty standard American fare - they had a roast lamb special which I tried, and it was quite good. The veggies didn't inspire, nor did my gin & tonic, but the main course fit the bill, the view was nice enough to make it pleasant, and the atmosphere relaxing, even if the decor was pretty standard corporate with black table cloths and standard furniture. Sadly, the wait-staff were not that attentive - unlike the hotel where they were great.

Great food and wonderful staff. Really chill and laid back kind of place. Nice place to grab some food, a drink, and watch the game.

I stopped here in mid-May on an Alaskan cruise with my Mom and Auntie... the location was a perfect kick-back for weary tourist shoppers! We noticed the outside seating first thing; you walk through the Westmark hotel area to get there. Mainly we stopped to grab some liquid sustinance; the ladies had strawberry-banana daiquiris, and they said they were a-ok, i think the waitress may have mentioned they used fresh banana instead of liqueur (which I think is a nice touch). Onto my drink situation: I ordered an "Alaskan Trashcan," which had no description but I figured would be authentic; when I asked the waiter what was in it, he had no idea, so we had to wait to find out (turned out to be a sort of Long Island with Curacao and Red Bull). Then, after my girls got their drinks, he started to bring mine, then came back and asked me for I.D. Genius! I kinda giggled as a pulled it out, and couldn't keep it to myself and told him "And you see that? I'm older than you, aren't I?" which he gave me sheepish confirmation. For crying out loud, really?!? Lol I understand, rules are rules. The three of us shared two appetizers: one that had black and tan (striped) onion rings, zucchini, and mushrooms; the other nachos, all in all, about $50, not too shabby, considering.

Is it fish or is it chicken? No, this is not an episode from the now off-aired newlywedded Nick and Jessica, either. On recommendation of the local folks at the sporting goods store, we headed over to the Kadataan Lounge for some fish and chips lunch. She recommended the cod; he recommended the halibut. The cod was tender; but the more expensive halibut was overcooked to the point that its texture was that of a chicken breast. We were tempted to ask the waitress if the kitchen staff accidentally breaded something other than a fillet in the otherwise light tasting beer batter. But no one likes complaining tourists. Plus, the waitresses were super nice. So when the young lady asked, "How's everything?" We took the polite route, "Very nice. May we have the check, please?" Having had lots of fish and chips, I've experienced better. If you disregard the questionable overcooked halibut, I'd give the Kadataan Lounge a three stars for friendly table service and central location. The dining room offers a nice view of downtown Sitka.

After a successful fishing trip, my father, brothers, and I had a couple of hours to kill before our trip home. We walked around Sitka for a bit and we decided to have a meal inside the Westmark Hotel at the Kadataan Lounge. I can't tell you much about the hotel, but the food service in bar was pretty good. We were shown a table immediately and found a good spot by the windows. It had a nice view and since this was one of the few warm sunny day in Sitka, the sun was shining through giving us just the right amount of warmth without being hot. The bar itself has an Alaska Sports Bar feel to it. They have a couple of flat screen TV's strategically placed throughout the bar playing ESPN. They had a couple of trough heads up and trough fishes (1 for each of the 5 kinds of Salmon found in Alaska). The waitress was nice and they have several Alaskan Brewing Company Beers on tap along with several others. She even allowed us to sample some of the beers for FREE and they came in nice 6oz glasses. Hell considering that it was free tasting we got a couple that I haven't tried and I settled on getting their Pale. We looked over the menu and it has a decent selection of sports bar food and several with an Alaskan Twist. You can get burgers, pasta, and sandwiches here along with fresh Alaskan Crab Cakes, Salmon, and Halibut. Prices here are reasonable. For the most part you're looking at spending between $8 - $16 for lunch at the Kadataan Lounge. After looking over the menu decided to go for it and get the Reindeer Sausage Rueben with the Sweet Potato Fries. My brothers got the Clam Chowder, Halibut Sandwich, Shrimp Wrap, and my father got the burger. We sat down and chatted for a while and got our beers. I have to say that Alaskan Pale was a good beer. It was on the light side but had an excellent crispness too it. After a while we got our meals. I have to say everything here is Alaska size including their portions. The Sandwich was a good size and loaded with sauerkraut, cheese, and Russian dressing on a nicely toasted Rye Bread. The reindeer sausage was a nice thick sausage cut in half. The flavors worked extremely well together. I enjoyed the gaminess of the reindeer and the spiciness inside the sausage with the sauerkraut, cheese, and Russian Dressing just evening it out. It was probably one of the better Rueben Sandwiches that I've had. The sweet potato fries that came with the meal were fresh cut and dare say as good as the ones at The Counter. They had a bit more heat to them, but the sweetness just balanced it out extremely well. My father and brothers also enjoyed their meals as they cleaned up their plates too. It was a good hearty meal that everyone enjoyed. The waitress here was extremely friendly and did a really good job on the service. Overall, really good food at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend the Kadataan Lounge for any passerbiers in the Sitka region. Strong 4 Star rating for the Kadataan Lounge.
