If you're looking for "local", this is it. You can't even tell this is a cafe from the outside. Half is a store, and the other half is the restaurant. Ten bucks gets you eggs your way, perfectly cooked hash browns, toast, and the meat of your choice. In my case, chicken fried steak. Even thought it's not breaded on site, it tasted that way. Nice and crunchy with delicious gravy on top. My friend had the reindeer sausage, and that had just the right amount of kick to it. Decor is as expected for a locals diner, with ads for farm implements, autos, and services tacked to the bulletin board. If I'm in the area again, this will be a "must do".

Straight up good breakfast with the locals. I had eggs over easy, hash browns, rye toast and reindeer sausage -- presumably local -- there's a reindeer farm about 1/2 mile away but I'm not certain that's where it's from. Food was cooked perfectly, the waitress was very nice and there were some characters enjoying breakfast, coffee and discussing their guns. Can't ask for more than that. They also have a gas pump in front and an attached convenience store. My bill, along with a bottomless cup of coffee, came to $9.

My hubby and I stopped here for breakfast while we were staying with my brother-in-law in Palmer. He was at work this morning so we were on our own. We walked in and were warmly greeted by the staff and immediately asked if we wanted coffee. (Um, yes.) I ordered the #6 - 2 eggs, hash browns, toast and reindeer sausage. Hubby ordered the # 13 - biscuits and gravy. We mentioned to the super friendly waitress we planned to split each plate and she offered to have the kitchen split it up for us. This is just good, tasty, no frills food. The eggs and biscuit were nothing to write home about, but OH, the gravy!! Deeeeelicious!! The hash browns were perfectly crispy and the sourdough was well-toasted with the perfect amount of butter. The reindeer sausage was lightly grilled and was salty and flavorful! We both agreed the coffee could have been a tad stronger, though. All in all this was a great meal and the perfect amount of food to send us out on our day, and all for under $20 too! We have recommended my BIL give this place a try when he gets a chance!

Have to admit my predjudice, and I didn't expect much, you know it's the Butte right but we split a chicken burger (no split charge) got it with sweet potato fries and it was a tasty real chicken breast on a potato bun with a savory and not too sweet or artificially tasting teriyaki. The fries were good too. We each got our own basket, half a burger, and evenly split fries, some or most places just give you and extra plate and let you have at it, or charge 2-3 bucks extra. I also added a house salad which was just Iceburg with some cucumber and tomatoes. Normally, with such an unexciting salad I would go with a two or three star ranking but the the ingredients were fresh, crispy and in excellent shape, no brown or mush. The blue cheese dressing which was delivered first, in a little plastic take-out container (kind of tacky, but again, inexperience young waitress) had some tasty chunks of real blue cheese in it, tasted homemade, not the stuff that comes in a bottle, or that is kind of sour-y and chemically. Service was so so but young and needs some experience, her way of asking us what we wanted was to to just look at us and raise her eyebrows, like "ok, I'm here, with my pad, start talking". Not much cordiality but kind of funny really, but given her teenishness, we'll let her slide on growning pains, and after a few verbal exchanges her personality brightened up a bit. We chatted with the owner briefly, who took over a couple of years ago and has made a lot of improvments. Its definitely not a pretentious place that thinks its something that it isn't, but also doesn't just go for the lowest and cheapest common denominator and very family oriented. Their integrity (and the no smoking) helps with that fourth star in my opinion spectrum. They make their own pies soups too which we didn't try, but given our delightful first impressions, we will soon.

Remodeled, repainted Green, and non-smoking. This is the Alaska we thought had been left behind. Unpretentious is an understatement. Food is good. Service is good/slow. This is were real people come to eat plan their work day and catch-up with their neighbors.
