This is a great place to get a burger and beer. Came here starving and ordered the special: prime rib burger with coleslaw instead of fries. My friend got the Lancaster sandwich that is a french dip on toast with swiss, grilled onion and peppers, au ju and fries. Both were great choices. My burger was succulent, which is the first time i've ever described a burger that way. Coleslaw? Best i've had in a long time, just the right amount of celery seed. Oh yeah, there are beer specials through the week, so we got a pitcher of liquid sunshine for 15 bucks. Would have given 5 stars but service was kind of slow.

Busy place on a weeknight! Seems to be the place to get an average American meal. They were very accommodating to my grilled chicken request vs sliced turkey on my salad and the food was fresh, not fancy. The fish and chips were average, could have liked to had a crispier crust and they were a little under seasoned but they filled the hunger void! Probably the best variety of food for any local place.

I was visiting friends in Kodiak and I wanted to go to a real bonified Alaskan seafood restaurant, they took me to Henry's and I was so utterly disappointed. In my opinion people go there out of desperation to want to go out somewhere rather then the quality of the food. The scallops were WAY overcooked and rubbery, the flavors were very bland, and all in all just upsetting. My friends tried explaining to me that there wasn't much else on the island, and no competition. I really get that there's not much else in the area, but you're a SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IN ALASKA! You can't b/s around with that! So what there's no competition, be the best weather you have to or not. I've had SO much better seafood here in California! I'm just heart borken for that poor town, if that's the best they have to go out to.

Had the best smoked salmon of my life right here at Henry's! Fresh off the boat, I decided I wanted some "normal" food, and ordered a BLT. Best. Decision. Ever. There was soooo much BACON. You really can't go wrong with bacon, but it's impossible to get any better than the combo of bread, fresh lettuce and tomato, a bit of mayo....so good! I ordered it with a side salad, but there was nothing "side" about it seeing as it took up 1/2 of the monstrous plate! The smoked salmon app was incredible. Yes, I realize I'm in Kodiak, and should expect good - no scratch that - AMAZING seafood. Nothing could have prepared me for the experience eating that salmon provided. Even my dad (who hates fish but keeps ordering it to remind himself why he hates it) loved this salmon. The place has a dingy and dirty feel to it, and makes me feel like it should be named Harry's. However, in cases such as these, character and charm come out of it. We sat in a booth where we were able to watch them plate the food. Quite entertaining. And the service was stellar. Our server was excellent, and any of the waitresses walking by would happily refill waters, etc. without being asked. The food seemed pricy at first, but the gigantic portions being served stand to show that you're getting your money's worth.

Food is good quality. Location and decor were great; lots of hard wood, pub style. Little pricey for pub food. Burger pattie was thick but a lot smaller in diameter than the bun; made it hard to eat. Skinny fries were great. Some beers were very good; others a little odd (be careful what you order). Great rock music, somewhat eclectic.

I always thought this was like the Applebees of Kodiak. It has a little bit of everything and depending on what you select is pretty good. Don't go there for a salad, if you know what I mean... They also have beer from the brewery on tap.

Great burgers, beer, salads, and more! Gotta love a place that has a daily steak special. Busy restaurant but staff is always on top of getting you in right away. Most pleasing moment... Saw two different server making salads, drop lettuce off the side of the plate.... Picked pieces up and did NOT plate them. Way to go ladies.....

Have eaten at Henry's twice on this trip. Both times the service was very good. The food is acceptable quality and good quantity. Pricing is good for Kodiak. This is one of the most reliable places in town.

The best thing about this place is the comfortable atmosphere. Almost too comfortable. Apparently they have these scratch tickets that people play and they toss them over the floor and there seem to be hundreds of these tickets piling up as people throw their money away! I ordered a french dip sandwich for 11.25. It came sliced in two pieces which were quite small. There was not much sauce for dipping and the roast beef was very over done and dry really not very good at all. Service was very average at best. They have a clean environment and enough tv's to watch sports. Nothing special at all here really. Move on.

Traditional American fare. Food was average. Stick with the burgers at lunch, the sesame chicken salad wasn't very tasty. The fish sandwich was okay. Large portions... The beer battered onion rings are worth the upsell.

Located in The Mall in Downtown Kodiak, Henry's offers a bit of everything. Salads, burgers, steaks, pastas, and of course seafood. Inside, one will discover that Henry's has the character of a sports bar. Dimly lit, moderate noise, and a bar in the middle with TVs hung everywhere. There are several seating options including booth, table, and bar. Everything I've ordered there has generally been satiable except one dish: the pesto. Maybe it was just that day, but the pesto did not even look or taste like pesto. It had a yellowish brown color and didn't really taste like anything at all until I loaded it with parmesan cheese. But don't let my criticism of the pesto discourage you! Remember, I said everything else has generally been satiable. Service was always excellent. The waitstaff seemed to be on top of everything. A+ for being efficient and attentive. Prices were manageable.

Great meal after a long day of fishing. I split the Kodiak burger and special of the day - crawfish and shrimp pie - with a friend. Wanted to try the sweet potato fries but they were sold out. Waitress was nice and gave good suggestions. I had the apple crisp for dessert - sweet and sour - very good except the ice cream was froZen solid. Also stay away from the "Sarah pale" beer.

Henry's is a safe bet, but nothing that blew me away. Food was good but pedestrian, don't expect much selection in drinks if you're not into beer, and 2 out of 3 times service was slow. On the bright side, lots of TVs and no smoking.

Love this place! Best place in Kodiak. Best sweet potato fries I have ever eaten. Also free wi-fi.

The place is decent and not too crowded. The thing that seemed strange was the "market price fish and chips". I thought "market price" would be something special. It was $11 and completely average.

I give Henry's a Kodiak 5, everywhere else, 4. Henry's is the most modern restaurant in Kodiak as far as aesthetics go and they have good burgers and local brews on tap. I suggest the Klondike burger with North Pacific ale.

Decent enough food. Had a late lunch, service was ok. Tea didn't taste freshly brewed.

a real place to eat amongst kodiaks smorgasboard of risky dives. unfortunately the seafood isn't any better priced than you can get anywhere else on the rock and i always leave feeling i could have fried some damn halibut better myself. but sometimes im lazy and so i goto henrys (probably 8x+). id say the burgers here are the way to go, ive never been disappointed. the fish and chips are a skip and better at harborside but its the best fixed burger in town besides the almighty macdeezy across the street (McKinley 1/3 Lb!!). Great beer selection from the local kodiak brewing company(!!!) always on tap. Ive used this no frills and semipublic;) bathroom many times in need while lost in that labyrinthine and depressing shopping center. Man vs Food atmosphere.

I have chosen to edit my previous review, as the food and cleanliness of the restaurant has changed sionce i have been here in town. I will leave my previous review below, as the issues i had then could still happen. I will say that the reason i jumped only to 3 instead of higher is because typically the service is still pretty bad. I have even gotten the same lady several times, who should remember that i tip really well, but still does not provide me with good service. A lot of the things on the menu i am still not happy with and they are mediocure at best, but i will say that i have found many things that are pretty good. Try the "Henry's Stack" it is awesome, if i made my review bassed only on that sandwich and 1 or 2 of the servers, i would give the place a full 5 easily. Also typically the Fish and Chips are very good and fresh. So far every burger or chicken dish i have gotten has been pretty bad, while all of the fish dishes i have gotten have been quite good. The fries have been consistently really good which was something i had an issue with before, so they must be changing the oil more regularly than they had been before, i did speak to one of the cooke, and he said that a previous cook used to mix up the fish fryer and the other items fryer, so some fries and things would take on a nasty flavor from the fish. My one last complaint keeping me from giving more stars is the fact that some drinks they offer on the menu are not on tap but come in a can, that would be fine, if the servers would warn you that you will pay more and get no refils if you choose DP. over Coke. But instead i get the can already opened, with no warning, and when i drink all 12 oz in seconds, i either have to pay for another can, or another fountain drink. I did have one server let me get a free refil to another fountain drink once, but all of the other times i had made the mistake, they were no help. Sorry this was one massive run-on sentance, but i guess i was just spilling info in a train of thought. Below i have included my orriginal review: I really want to love this place. I have given it 7 try's now because everyone keeps telling me to order something specific. I will say that the potato salad and the clam chowder were both the only bare able things I have gotten here, and were actually quite good. The place is pretty dirty and has an old musky smell to it. The service my first time here was exceptional but the other 6 times have included some of my all time worst restaurant experiences. I keep coming cause I work next door and they have a decent priced lunch special, and I wanted to try and find at least one day a week I can come here. Don't do it, everyone around here says not to go here so I don't know how their yelp review is so good. I was hopeful one last time on my visit today, because i had not yet tried a burger, when it came, it looked great, but unfortunately it was not good at all, and it took 3 trys asking, and about 20 minutes to get a side of ranch dressing, and overall i was a single person in for lunch, and i was stuck in the place for over an hour, just waiting to get service aqnd the check etc... That was unfortunately my last attempt to like the place, i will not be back.

The fish and chips were good. Not great, like you think they should be, considering the location. But nice place and reasonably for Alaska.

Great prime rib special. It was so good Friday, I ate it again on Saturday. In fact we ate there three nights all together during the week. The only thing keeping this place from getting five stars was the service. All three nights we all felt the service was lacking at the place. One night it took us ten minutes to track our server down, just to get the bill. The portions were large, the restaurant roomy and comfortable. TV's were able to be seen from any seat so you wouldn't miss your game. I tried the bouillabaisse special the first night and felt it was better than average. The prime rib was what I felt was great. I was actually shocked how good it was because I'm hard to please. The menu here is large and has options for anyone. I will go back when in Kodiak again.

Tasty specials and excellent bar menu. Food is average and pricey. Nice selection of salads, appetizers, steak, chicken, seafood, vegetarian and low carb options. Homemade soup daily.

I get it, I get why you have to go to Henry's. But the place just isn't good. In addition to charging above market prices (the discrepancy cannot be chalked up to transportation costs, as one quickly notes -- it is quite literally located adjacent to one of the renowned seafood ports in America). The dishes we were recommended by our server were dry and overcooked, if not breaded and fried; so as to eviscerate any semblance of freshness. This place is a tourist destination in Kodiak. Though, quite frankly, BJs provides a substantially better culinary experience. Hell, even McDonald's does. .

Ate here twice during our short stay in the island. Only sampled seafood dishes, but they were done well. Staff was very friendly, service was quick and the beer selection was great. Stick with the local seafood selections and you won't be disappointed.

My friend and I shared a smoked salmon Caesar's salad. For mains, he had the 18 oz ribeye and for me, an 8 oz tenderloin "steak Dianne". Salad was ordinary, the steaks, chewy. The place was packed. There might not be a better option in Kodiak.

Huge sports bar with delicious fried food and burgers. This place was my first stop in Kodiak, and a year later when I left it was my last. I recommend the Caesar salad with smoked salmon: it's the best smoked salmon you will ever eat. Also, their burgers are better than the Chart Room and they are less expensive. 6 beers on draft. A definite relaxed feel- basic Kodiak flare. Scratch off bar in the corner (Alaska is nuts). The waitresses don't rush, but they don't keep you waiting either, so all good the the service department. I've come here in the afternoon by myself and in the evening with 20 other people and we got our food in the same time. Definitely the best choice in Kodiak for a large group. Parking is ample, as if there is ever a problem with that on the island. And you are right in the heart if town if you feel like taking a walk to the fairgrounds or historic Russian Orthodox Church. Check this place out for sure!
