I am a lover of green curry and the curry I had at lemon grass would be hard to beat. It was obvious from the start of our dining experience that special care and attention was paid to each patron of their establishment. The ingredients were fresh and were prepared with attention to detail. I can't wait for my next visit to Fairbanks to dine here again!

Delicious treat during our recent trip to Fairbanks. We had a group of 5 and were seated quickly. Service was fast and friendly and they accommodated our special requests. From soup to curry we ordered a large variety of food and it was all delicious!

One of the best meals we had in Alaska! Their calamari salad and pad Thai is excellent! Very authentic, coming from the Bay Area, and they are able to impressed us!

Food was very good and came out quickly. Very good service. Water was never less then half full. We would definitely go back again. I had the Thai fried rice and hubby had the Pa nang curry.

Extremely flavorful and fresh entrees. Loved the actual "Thai Hot" you can get here!

When we arrived, on a weekend evening for dinner, the place was packed. After a brief wait (would have been briefer but they seated someone else at the table we were waiting on!), we sat and ordered. We started with the Chicken Satay which was good, with sides of really chunky peanut sauce (not really a sauce, more of a paste) and cucumber and onion vinegar side. The pieces of chicken were quite small, however. Usually, there's a strip of chicken. This was about two bites on each skewer. The Pad Thai that I ordered didn't have any spice on it even though I ordered it medium spicy and was more savory and smoky than the sometimes sweet Pad Thai at other restaurants. I prefer fresh peanuts, cilantro and bean sprouts of which this had none of. But the shrimp were plentiful and the dish was good overall. My partner got the Panang Chicken with medium spice and it was medium to her and mild to me which was better than none. It was super, duper thick but had a nice flavor but we were surprised to find that there were no vegetables. I asked her if it stated on the menu that it had vegetables and she couldn't remember. I don't think it did and figured she's probably thinking about the red curry dish I usually get at Thai restaurants. We were stuffed but couldn't pass up the banana spring rolls which were divine. I actually screwed up and wanted the fried bananas with coconut ice cream but the spring rolls were good none the less. Maybe next time we'll get the fried bananas.

We just ate there, I ate the Green Curry (medium) and hubby had The three kings(hot) .. It was so delicious and had a great customer service.. We are definitely coming back for sure !

The food was okay. I wouldnt expect it to be so pretty on the inside based on looking out from the strip mall that its located at. I had the chicken satay and the chicken panang. The chicken satay was a little bit difficult to remove from the sticks with a fork... i actually had to bite the chicken and drag it off with my teeth (im thinking it was put on the sticks and refridgerated far ahead of when it was cooked which grossed me out a bit) but the taste was good and the peanut sauce was legit. The chicken panang i got as extra spicy. the spice level was a little bit spicier than i anticipated (and i like spice) but it was still flavorful. I do appreciate that they are spicier than the average thai restaurant, so if you are afraid of spice... keep that in mind. I wouldnt say that its the BEST Thai food in Fairbanks - i actually liked Tiparos a lot better... but its not bad.

Lemongrass has excellent Thai food! We ordered the pad thai and panang curry and both dishes were tasty and authentic. The restaurant is clean and brought us back to our Thailand vacation with the beautiful decor. The service was friendly. I take one star off only because the portions are quite small for the price ($10.95 for lunch portions), but can be justified for quality over quantity. Just don't expect any leftovers!

Very authentic Thai restaurant in Fairbanks, AK! Staff was attentive and personable, service was fast when requested (because we had an event to attend). I almost always order the Pad Thai at a new Thai restaurant because that is the "definitive" dish for me: if that is good, I can be assured everything else will be, too. In this case, I was proved right. I will definitely go there again.

Authentic, family owned, in business 19 years. The place was hopping, service attentive, attractive setting, large menu offerings, food great...what more is there?

We went there for lunch, I had the roast duck with veggies, duck was delicious but the veggie were over cooked. The prices were reasonable and restaurant was very clean. The waiter and staff were friendly and willing to assist us. I would return and would recommend this eatery to others.

Fairbanks has so many Thai restaurants, please do not pick this one. The interior is extremely dark and cramped, the silverware has a metallic taste and is extremely pliable. The food is overpriced and extremely small portions. They charge for rice when you get curry or something that is typically served on rice or with rice.

For Thai food all the way up here in Fairbanks I think this is my most favorite I've had here. I get the yellow curry with tofu and it is excellent. My wife doesn't care for Thai food too much but she had the pad Thai chicken and she loves it. I even have leftovers for tomorrow.

Sooooo I'm here for work in Fairbanks. Had to try something my fellow yelpers recommend. Well originally we were going to dump house but they told me it was a 45 min wait. Screw that. So I looked up something near by and found this amazing thai restaurant. Omg it was so good. I ate my coworkers food it was that good! Their lamb chops were perfect and delicious. A little on the smaller size for lamb but it was worth it. A bit pricey but then again I'm from az and Alaska's prices are crazy! Oh and the decor was great. U can tell they took their time to decorate this place.

Really tasty food, and super great service. I can't remember the name of what I ate right now because I was so happy to have passed North Pole, Alaska, but it was a sautéed noodle dish that made my tastebuds sing. I chatted with the very friendly server about life in Alaska vs the Lower 48 and enjoyed a tasty local Alaskan beer. Very happy to have stumbled upon a delicious Thai restaurant in Fairbanks.

Pad Thai was so good we ordered a second serving. The veggies were all fresh and local, which was a surprise in Alaska. Our kids enjoyed the kids chicken satay and BBQ beef. Huge menu that included fresh curry halibut and salmon entrees too.

I love this place! I travel to Fairbanks often and am always looking for good food near the airport. The menu and food were fantastic. The place filled at 12:00 and had a line waiting. I had the bok choy curry chicken with brown rice. Yummmmm

Here from Tucson, found this place three days into my stay what a wonderful place to eat. Been here two times already in the past week I'm in love with the roast duck. Great service, good prices, and the atmosphere is very casual.

Wish I could have eaten every meal there! SO GOOD! Excellent, very kind wait staff. Unusual music playing and décor. Had fresh rolls to start. Ordered vegan on one dish: panang-came loaded with veggies. Had pad anamai with tofu. Had banana spring rolls for dessert. YUM!

Who would have thought of finding great Thai food in Fairbanks, but it is certainly there. Went here with friends and tried five or six dishes, all of which were absolutely delicious. The prices are little high compared to other Thai restaurants, but you must remember that everything is a bit more expensive in Alaska. I should also add that their spice level is a little skewed on the hotter side. We usually order about a 5 on the spice level in most Thai restaurants, but at Lemon Grass we ordered a 3 (as suggested by our waitress) and thankfully so, as this was a nice heat level. We tried a variety of curry, stir fry, noddles, satay, corn fritters, etc and everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly.

I had the vegetarian stir fry with tofu and garlic sauce. It was very tasty. Service was very good. We will definitely be eating there again.

omigod... THE best lamb chops I've *ever* had... never expected a Thai place to prepare such a succulent, tasty, perfectly-cooked and seasoned set of lamb chops! It was the most expensive dish on the plate so I went for it - it was absolutely amazing... the small bowl of sweet-chili liquid that I dunked the lamb in was just the icing on the cake.. the chops stood amazingly well all alone, but the dip took them up even higher. Everyone in our party raved about their dishes... seafood, scallops, thai curry.. I was complimented for picking this place for dinner :P This place delivers on outstanding, flavorful, memorable dishes - you need to eat here at least once. Staff, again, was very prompt and friendly.

They do not understand the meaning of vegan. I am a vegan to the core and i found egg in my soup. I dont know why i am even putting one star against this.

pad thai hot- amazing flavor and a little light on the veggies, mom and niece both had curries which they loved. halibut in red curry was VERY delicious. very good customer service.

Lemon Grass deserves its reputation for the best Thai place in Fairbanks. The menu has a large selection (broader than a lot of Thai places in Seattle, for example). Thai iced coffee and thai iced tea here were delicious too. A note on spice: My boyfriend and I both ordered "hot" as our spice level (their menu went mild, medium, hot, very hot, and Thai hot) and his meal came out at what I would consider 2 stars, while mine was at 4 or 5. So just be prepared for inconsistent spice. And if you do head to Lemon Grass, BYOB. Beer isn't on the menu, but they are more than happy to have you bring your own!

It 's definitely NOT the best Thai I've ever had. If you want to have the best Thai food of your life without actually having to go to Thailand then just go to Frisco, Texas. Shout out to Thai Green Village ( yelp.com/biz/thai-green-… )!!! :) I like their vegetarian/vegan menu. It was nice that she asked if I was vegan before putting my order in. If you're a vegetarian, I suggest you say that you're vegan anyway because they do cook in chicken broth, which you will find out soon enough if you don't say you're vegan. They're mindful and respectful about that, and I truly love it. Their prices for dinner are kind of steep so I would advice coming here for lunch if you don't want to spend a $40 dinner for one person. They have brown rice for no extra charge. Service was okay. It wasn't anything special. She got our drinks, orders and then came out with food. Meh. All in all, I would probably come back here to eat. But this isn't the BEST EVER! Maybe it's the best Fairbanks could offer but I've had better.

Upon arriving in Fairbanks for a few days of vacation, we decided to dine at Lemon Grass on a local's recommendation. Glad we did! This little restaurant is located in the middle of a strip mall and not easily visible from the main road. The interior is warm and inviting, filled with the intoxicating aroma of Thai cooking. Each dish that my party ordered was quite good, and so was the service we received. I had the Pad Prew Wan (sautéed pineapple with tomatoes, cucumber, and onions in a sweet & sour seasoning) with chicken. A bit more pricey than what I'm used to at $14, but that seems to be true for everything in the Great State of Alaska. I was gratified to find that the dish, which I had ordered 'extra hot', actually did have some kick to it-- it seems to be all too common for a '5 star' order to come out tasting like a '2 star' at many of the Thai restaurants I've been to. Great place!

Delicious Thai food with a special local menu. I got a pumpkin brûlée in fall and it was very good! Everything we ordered as a group was great.

The staff was helpful. The place is clean. They gave the baby in our lunch party a little bowl of rice on the house. That was nice. The other kids in our party really liked the chicken fried rice. I would come here again.

We loved it from the service to the last drop of Thai iced tea! Best Thai I have had in a long time. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

Food was good (Pad Thai, Tom Yum), decorations were beautiful, but prices were overinflated even during lunchtime. Note that the soup is served as individual servings.

  • Lizz S.

The food it really great and it helps that they use local produce. I had the pumpkin curry and they brought me and my friend a free bowl of the pumpkin ice cream they had during the fall. The servers were hospitable and took very good care of us. Best Thai out of Fairbanks.

One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to in the U.S. Great service, ambiance, and quality of food. I ordered the lettuce wraps to start and they were a-mazing! I've never had this app ever and I look forward to replicating them - yum! I'm a huge red curry fan, so this is what I ordered along with a berry smoothie. Both were excellent. I felt the spice level was perfect, and I like spicy food. Price was reasonable, compared to the other Fairbanks restaurants I had tried...this by far exceeds all others I went to and I wish it would've been my first restaurant and not my last, I would have returned repeatedly.

We went on a weeknight and arrived just in time it seemed. The place filled up quick. The interior was nice for Alaska; nothing fancy but clean and not cluttered. A glance at the menu told me I would most definitely find something I liked, and the thai iced tea was only $1.95. Cheaper than a soft drink at the greasy spoons around here. The dinner plates were about $14 for the non-seafood picks. It's $1.50 a person for jasmine rice ($2.50 for brown). Take note that the entrees do not come with rice. They have a kid's menu but the prices were the same as adult meals it seemed. I liked the personalized level of spice you could ask for on each dish. Our thai iced teas came and I saw why the price was low - they were served in average sized dinner glasses. Ho-hum. That's Alaska for you. No refills of course. My two boys had water. The server was friendly and I let her know that I had a peanut and almond allergy. We started off ordering the corn cake appetizer with a "sweet cucumber sauce". I was disappointed because for $10 I expected more than four tiny cakes. But again; Alaska. The accompanying sauce was unexpected - I was thinking it was going to be creamy. It looked like (but didn't taste like) soy sauce with cucumber dices and minced garlic mixed in. I tasted it- it was really good! I dunked into the sauce again and my tongue quickly realized the lack of garlic taste. My husband tasted it and said it was peanuts! I grabbed my purse (Epi-pen inside) and waited. Luckily nothing happened more than a tingly lip (I hadn't gotten any peanut chunks on my cake, but it was still in the sauce). I was upset and told the server. She didn't do anything but look sorry. To me, that's a REALLY BIG DEAL. A peanut allergy is extremely dangerous. It's ironic that the menu notes at the very beginning to let the servers know of any allergies. My adrenaline was pumping in fear of a reaction and I was so hungry that I didn't make a big deal about it at that point. I just wanted to eat. The rest of our food came out (peanut-free) and again I was let down. We ordered the yellow curry, the Pad Gra-Paw (stir-fry chicken with basil, peppers), and the Pad Prew Wan (stir fry chicken with pineapple, tomatoes and sweet and sour sauce). For $14 each I expected much bigger plates. The plates were the size one would expect a kids hamburger and fries to be on. The yellow curry came in a bowl the size of a soup bowl. We were two adults and two kids (13 and 8). When at restaurants like this we typically order family style or the boys will share an entree. The four of us began dividing up the food and the kids actually argued that one got more than the other. We haven't had this problem at other Thai places; the portion sizes being bigger. We even ordered an appetizer here, which we never do. It should have been enough food! We got a second container of rice to help the entrees go farther. The yellow curry was amazingly good. The other entrees were good, but no wow factor. When all the food was gone and we were plotting out our dessert next door at Hot Licks, my older son thought it would be funny to stick his fork in my water. I waited about five minutes for a server to pass us so I could flag her down and ask for a new glass of water. She then refilled water glasses in the dining room, took care of some other customers and finally brought my new water another five minutes later. Not a glance at our empty plates. A few minutes later I caught her eye again and she came over and started clearing plates. She told us to pay up front. I told her we hadn't got our check yet and she said it was up front. Okaaay.... not sure if that's how they usually do things because I had just watched another family be handed a check and they handed back a credit card to their server. Would we go back? Probably not. We spent almost $100 here for a casual, week-night dinner. If the portions were bigger or the prices smaller, maybe- that yellow curry WAS fabulous.

  • Jesse J.

I didn't expect much being in a smaller market, but they showed me that I'm a snob! The folks at Lemon Grass Thai Cuisine make a mean dish and have plenty of less common entrees than that you might find at a random Thai place in say San Fransisco.

  • Paul T.

I had dinner at Lemon Grass last night on the recommendation of a local resident. I ordered the red curry (Kaeng Ped) with beef, bamboo shoots, zucchini, and basil. The beef wasn't as tender as I would prefer, but didn't detract from the dish to the point that I wouldn't order it again. The zucchini was a pleasant departure from the mainstream use of bell peppers. Overall the curry was very flavorful, without being overpowering. A casual, family atmosphere with fast, and friendly service. They are solidly deserving of 3.5 stars. However, I subtracted a 1/2 star because they don't serve alcohol.

Great service - constantly filled my water glass which is a necessity when I am eating spicy! I had pineapple red curry and they added vegetables easily. All veggies are local Alaskan grown and delicious! Can't wait to return!

I love thai food and have eaten them everywhere when I get a chance on vacation or at home, but not in Thailand.. But I must say this is one of the tastiest thai food and we had shrimp pad thai, w/big prawns.. And halibut with red curry,it was very good, it was named something chee? And you gotta have thai ice tea...yummy... Especially hard to find asian food in most of Alaska...

Very tasty food. We asked them to make it vegan and she was ok with it. Service was very good and fast. The portions are pretty large too. We ate so much and still there was rice and curry left over !

My favorite Thai restaurant in Fairbanks.. which now has 8 or 9 Thai restaurants. Better than any of the other places I've tried in my travels too. I'm pretty sure you have to go to Thailand to beat it. The only thing missing here is beer... but they are cool with BYOB.

  • Isaac S.

Our group went to Lemon Grass for lunch during a conference in Fairbanks. The food was phenomenal. I live in a large city with dozens of Thai restaurants, and not one here is as good at Lemon Grass. Maybe it was just the dish I ordered, or the quick service, but if every Thai restaurant was as good as this one I would eat a lot more Thai.

  • Kelley T.

This is my go-to for Thai in Fairbanks. I always order the yellow curry which is delicious every time, and sooo filling. I promise to branch out and sample other things on their menu, which I'm sure are amazing. I've never been with anyone who complained about their food. It's actually a decent sized place too, with many tables - but I usually do takeout. They are a bit on the pricier side, but you're paying for really delicious food. They're closed from 4-5 which is when they switch from Lunch to Dinner.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Fairbanks! The food is always super fresh and extremely tasty. The owners are friendly and the service exceptional. I've been to every Thai restaurant in Fairbanks and can find something tasty at each one but Lemon Grass is the most consistent. The menu is large and contains fantastic seafood and vegetarian options. They get Alaskan grown veggies and serve ice cream that is made locally. If you like your Thai Food HOT tell them you want it really hot. This is my only complaint, I've ordered my food to be made hot and it's barely medium. I want to get sweaty when I eat my Thai food though. My favorite dish is the Panang Curry with Beef. The beef is tender and delicious. The curry is thick and stays with rice, it doesn't run all over your plate. The Drunken Noodle is great even though they don't make their own noodles ( I with they would!). The halibut with red curry is superb and the chicken with peanut sauce is what I eat when I don't feel like spicy. Oh yeah, and it's BYOB!

Love it here, the veggies are Alaskan home grown in the summer and I love that they support local! Mustamun is yummy and their pad thai is superb. Check em out if you need your thai fix!

Great Thai food though it could be spicier. Some of the curries taste too salty. The specials with local veggies have been great. Maybe the best Thai restaurant in Fairbanks.

Visited there every night during my recent Fairbanks visit. Great vegetarian and seafood, spicy and mild.

Simply the best Thai I've ever had. I have still not found a yellow curry with chicken that compares to what Lemon Grass offers. My wife says their panang with pork is to die for as well. Worth the trip to Fairbanks, Alaska just to go here!

  • lynda h.

my husband and i ate lunch here. we didn't think that it was the best ever, however, it was pretty good. the veggies were good and there are a lot of vegetarian choices. it probably is the best thai in alaska, most definitely the best in fairbanks.

Stopped at the restaurant after visiting the museum. From yelp look like they got 4 stars even though not many reviews but many people loved it and their web site look good. So we went in and try lunch. I had Kao Soi. The noodle in it came from the instant noodle. This is bad. The crispy noodle comes from the Chinese crunchy noodle sell in big bag. It is totally not good with this dish. Both is not used in authentic dish. My friend also got the bulk made Chinese crunchy noodle for his dish which is not suppose to be and I felt bad for him because the dish look quite bad. It had been years since I had last bad Thai food. Oh well.

First time eating here I had to give them a try since this is the only Thai restaurant in my neighborhood. Also I am new to Alaska and the Chena Pump area. Well I decided to go with beef Larb (also spelled Lap, laap, larp or lahb) extra, extra, extra spicy. I tend to repeat this to my waiter/waitress at new spots to reiterate that I want it Thai spicy not Red Hot hot sauce spicy. A very small amount for $10, but served on a lovely bed of mixed greens, and my jasmine rice was in a catchy looking silver serving bowl w/ladle. Now I did ask for sticky rice but they only serve it with their deserts smh. I was a bit thrown that there were no comodients that I find at other Thai restaurants readily available. For instance fish sauce...this is like salt/pepper on an American diners table. Plus I also had to ask for some lime slices another typical item to come with some Thai dishes. Well the meal was good nothing left for a doggy bag once again very small serving, but it was good and the SPICE was right! I will return again only because it's in walking distance and sometimes you must work with what you got lol!! Sorry no pics folks I was starving!

I flew all the way from SF to AK visiting my friend. Spent time in Fairbanks for a week and was craving for Thai food so my friend took me to Lemongrass. I really love their Pad Thai. The taste was just right. I also love the specials, Larb (made of salmon) and also seared scallop with beetroot dressing. Excellent food, nice decor and friendly staff.
