I was cautious about going to Geraldo's because of the reviews but found it to be really good food. The servers are nice. We were seated right away on a busy holiday weekend. We helped ourselves to the salad bar which wasn't bad. We got the Fried Calamari for an appetizer and it was awesome. The calamari was tender and my favorite part of the sauce was the dab of minced garlic in the center. I wished they'd given us a teaspoon full. We were practically full by the time our meals got there after a big salad and huge plate full of calamari. But my lasagna was so good that it was the best I've had in some time. There were chunks of funneled sausage and bits of ground beef with tons of sauce and cheese which was perfect for dunking the buttered, garlic bread in. My partner got the veal scallopini that came with a side of olive oil and garlic linguine. The gravy and mushrooms that came with the veal were outstanding as was the side of pasta that accompanied it perfectly. The only downside was the limp, unseasoned side of zucchini that came with both dishes. I'm not sure what that was all about. We took home half of each of our dishes and they even reheated to another great meal. So pleased with Geraldo's that I've promised to bring my mom back here for a dinner I'm sure she'd really enjoy. We were too stuffed for dessert but maybe next time.

Perfectly suited for Fairbanks. Felt established, had a good size menu, and full bar. Great service. Decent chicken Marsala. Would recommend and better than anything I found in Anchorage.

Great place. They have an amazing menu with many options.....but I can't get away from the pizza. Great specialty pizzas or build your own. The crust is crunchy, yet chewy with corn meal on the crust....like pizza should be made. Great selection of beverages too. Make sure to ask for an Alaskan beer.

    (4)
  • Roger M.

Attractive place, with nice Italian menu. Build your own pizzas were very good, but were aggressively priced. Adequate wine and beer selection, and service attentive. On balance, an enjoyable experience.

  • Cindy J.

Enjoyed Geraldo's - they were gracious about our sitting request (away from the door and not near vents-my mother in law was feeling chilled due to the rain). We ordered the garlic cheese Bread and calamari.... Both were quite good and also the pizza was by far the best we've had in a while. Appreciated the atmosphere and food.

  • CC W.

After 3 visits I've left feeling disappointed each time. The food is heavy and drowning in sauces, which is prepared bland or over-seasoned. What's most disappointing is the waitstaff that express no knowledge of the food or wine list. I will not be returning.

  • Grant T.

Geraldo's may be the best Italian you will get in Fairbanks. Let's be honest, that's not saying a whole lot. It's Fairbanks you know. I've been several times. The food can be quite good. And they do love garlic, so your food tastes really garlicky (and if you don't like that you won't enjoy the food). The pizzas are quite nice, and again if you like garlic, you can go all out. The last time I came, I got the eggplant parmesan and it was incredibly tasty. Very enjoyable. The service is a bit spotty though. Our server seemed to disappear for ages (and it wasn't busy when we went at all), and we were trying to find someone to get us some wine. Then before we were finished eating we were offered dessert. Strange. Just remember fairly good Italian and lots of garlic. If this sounds like your ideal, Geraldo's is your place!

  • Alice N.

We came here three times during our stay in Alaska lol The food was great only thing I did not like was that the marinara sauce was very sweet. So it sort of ruined the taste for me for the lasagna. Everything else was perfect. The customer service was excellent, everyone there is very attentive to your needs and if you seem to not like the food, THEY NOTICE, and offer you something else. That definitely WOW me. If I ever visit Alaska I would love to visit again.

  • Randy F.

Service staff is consistently terrific. The food is better than average, although a tad spendy for what you get. The wine selection is fantastic and served in great wine glasses that really allow the wine to breathe. Downsides: the parking area is a little small to handle busy weekend customers. Some of the chairs' seats are cracked- exposing the cushioning material. That looks a little tacky. And last night, my girlfriend and I were seated at a table crammed into the back corner of the room. The table and chairs were on an elevated 'platform' that was ~3 feet off of the floor allowing us to look down upon the other dinner guests seated in the booth next to us.

I was very surprised to find this place in Fairbanks. It's more like what you would expect to find in a large city in the lower 48. It's a lot larger inside than it looks from the outside so if the parking lot is full, go in anyway. My wife and I had a large plate of spaghetti with meatballs and a Cesar Salad. We shared it all and it was enough for us. I loved everything but my wife who likes food a bit bland thought it was too strong flavored. If you like garlic and and Italian food check out Geraldo's

    (4)
  • Jeff B.

Not a clue what real Italian food is, poor attempt at flavor unless you like overwhelming garlic in everything, I tried several entrees and all i tasted was garlic. my son couldnt eat his favorite dish Alfredo because all the garlic burnt his taste buds. even the pizza was nothing but garlic. dont get me wrong I am italian and i love garlic when its used appropriately. the salad bar is a joke. On a positive note the atmosphere and service was nice. Bring lots of breath mints if you have to suffer through this lame attempt at Italian food. or buy a frozen bertolli meal at least they attempt Italian food. never again.

  • Sunny W.

What a disappointment. After reading some of the reviews, I felt completely misled on what people actually considered to be "good food". We stood at the door for a good while before we were seated, not on a overly busy night (judging from all the open tables) which I could understand a little wait. Once we were seated our waitress was very nice and helpful. I ordered the veggie calzone which was flavorless, bland, and unexciting. My husband had the lasagna which looked more like the soup of the day, and what was it missing in flavor it also lacked in noodles. The salad bar looked promising and fresh until we started to dig in, the lettuce underneath was rancid and soggy; not ideal for a salad but that is what we got. It was quite possible we caught them on a off night, but the entire meal from the salad to dessert left a lot to be desired. The meals we ordered were not pleasingly palatable. We both felt ill after the meal well into the next day.

Pizza was great. We split It half and half and the chefs were nice because we wanted half to be a white pizza and half a red sauce (most places won't split that way) and it was amazing. Service was great. Great wine selections. Lovely ambience kind of a polished casual. Fancy but still feel comfortable in jeans

  • M. A.

I have never had a pasta with such a delicious wine sauce. Try the Seafood Portafino....and ask for Stephanie as your server. She was great! One serving is more than enough for two... Their Prosecco with mango puree was to die for....

    (5)
  • Brian M.

Pricy, but the food is really just ok. The Chicken Parm wasn't great. The chicken had little flavor. The pizza was also just ok, just not great or memorable for the price you pay. The salad was fresh, the service was friendly and we sat at a table with two sofas, which was kind of neat. Overall, just ok and can't really recommend it.

  • Dawn L.

We went here without knowing they take reservations, yet they were able to get us in right away which was great! The host staff was kind quick and helpful. Once we got to our table we were greeted quickly and kept a nice pace thru out the entire dinner meal. I was pleased that the staff worked together by helping our server bus our table and refill waters etc when they had time. The good was delicious, a little spendy but I expect that for Fairbanks! Overall I'd go back for sure!

  • Kasandra M.

The place looked great, the service was great, the food was real good!! However way too much garlic after a while I had to stop eating because my stomach was burning. Either way it's a great place but not so great for people with weak stomach. The food also smelled heavenly and looked heavenly

Decent italian restaurant in Fairbanks. Attentive service, nice ambience, plus they have a parking-lot patio during the summer. Menu is typical 70's italian-american. Nothing world-shaking, but reliable is better than too-far-reaching, especially in Fairbanks. I had the eggplant parmagiana, which was fine. A bit heavy, like the old days, but tasty. Hubby had the seafood pasta special which he said was great (so much so that he wouldn't let me taste it!) Standard salad bar (again, 70's-style.) Extensive wine list. Didn't try the pizza. Maybe next time.

  • Paul J.

Wow! Most unimpressive. Everyone who came in got to hear about how, "Ashley didn't show up"... Mozzarella Bread - Marinara was cold.... Stuffed Shells - pasta was undercooked and the whole dish was COVERED in mozzarella. Don't get me wrong, I like cheese...but trying to hide a flawed meal under a pound of cheese...probably not the right thing to do. There are 11 people in the entire restaurant and the server is completely taxed. And happy to let everyone know. And finally....and this is totally picky....WTF is an orange garnish doing on a pasta dish? A twisted orange slice on a chiffonade of lettuce...really? I may be a food snob, but my expectations are LOW. This was really just sad..... Oh...and I get that you guys love Garlic. I love it too...but raw garlic has no place in a plate. It's overwhelming. If that is what you are holding on to, then run with it. But try cooking it down and using less. That much garlic and raw....why?

Atmosphere is nice, but that is where it ended. Our waiter was a little rude, the steak my husband got was extremely bland and I stress extremely, like they might have put a little pepper and salt on it ( and it was expensive) and that was it, we got the shrimp appetizer with jalapeños and cheese and deep fried, well it tasted delicious, but then I saw my shrimp was still gray that I was eating and the others were as well that I opened, the veal dish I got was bland and as for the salad bar, I did like it, but it lacked cheese. My sons kid's cheese pizza was a standard cheese pizza, no complaints there. Overall, we will not go back and we were very disappointed.

    (2)
  • Nina B.

Service was super slow, BUT the pizza is the best I have ever had. We had to order something else because the wait for pizza was an hour, so we got chicken & veal parmigiana and took pizza home got the next day. I would have to say the pizza is the best I have ever had. We took the garlic pizza and the meat lovers pizza home. Yummy

  • Cindy H.

Atmosphere was very nice. Ordered chicken parmesan. I have never had it prepared like this. It was almost poached in a tomato broth. Not crusted fried and topped with pasta sauce and cheese. Very unconventional and not very tasty. Bread was nothing special either. It's hard to mess up Italian food. At least I thought. Service was very good. So I thought I would give it another try with a take out pizza. Ate 1 piece and threw the remaining out. 2 strikes and your out....

Went here with my lady last night and decided to stick with the classic spaghetti with meat balls and a glass of red wine (which they have a pretty good wine selection). I was surprised at how good my spaghetti was because it's such a simple dish but they did it perfectly. I'd recommend Geraldo's to anyone!

    (4)
  • KD D.

Good but not great. Good service towards the picky ones in my party but I found the portions a little too skimpy. I had the seafood pasta and for $28 dollars I shouldn't still be hungry while leaving.

  • Eric G.

I've been many many times. I usually get something different every time, and I have yet to be disappointed in their food. Their pizza is amazing! Also, love their spaghetti and meatballs! I miss this place. I was stationed at Eielson AFB, and now I am in Arizona. If I ever come back to Alaska I will definitely come back. They were adding onto their restaurant when I left, so I'm sure it looks nicer now than it did. Last visited October 2011

Well, for all the hype I read about this place online in the reviews I found it to be pretty average. I got the prime rib and French onion soup. Wow, I have to say that is one of the worst steaks I have had in recent memory. The French onion soup was just ok. I generally use Outback Steakhouse's French onion soup as my point of reference. Moving on, the one high point of the meal was the roasted potatoes which came with the steak. They were excellent. The garlic bread with cheese on top was just meh. After 4 kids meals, my steak dinner, and a salad for my wife the total was $86 with tip. I'm new to Alaska and am finding the cost to eat out to be really high as a native Floridian. In sum, this place is just Meh... Maybe hit up the Cookie Jar instead.

Geraldo's pizza was great staff was good and place was clean and menu was ok. The people was talking and got me a headache I was ordering a pick up instead of going inside and looking at the menu. Even this place is a Italian pizza and fancy restaurant.

3.5 stars. Nice ambiance and location, but the food was just a shade above okay. Nothing special if this were in NY or PA, but in Fairbanks this is a find. They are a bit light with the salt and the menu is limited. They have gluten-free pizza, but are otherwise not particularly food-allergy friendly.

Some of the most absolutely horrific service I've ever experienced at a food or any type of customer service establishment. Sara(h?) our 'server' was very unprofessional. We were seated, the nice young gentleman brought over water to us and we sat there for at least 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were seated. She finally walked up and jokingly mentioned where our server was, clearly she wasn't in a joking mood. She responded rudely and that was the last time we saw her, unless you count when she brought us the completely wrong food order. We asked about the drink choices she said beer and wine then we asked what kind of wine, she proceeded to answer with 'red and white', well okay then, never mind. When she brought the wrong food order we asked for more water and never saw her again. Another server brought us our water, food, cleared our table and brought us our check. Also, caught Sarah talking negatively about us and asking the other servers to check on us. Fairbanks has horrible restaurant service regarding time but this was unbearable and the rudeness of her. The only reason for the one star is that the food was pretty good.

We had the Chicken Garlic Lovers pizza. Magnifisco! It was delicious! The atmosphere is perfect. The owners care about family and friends. Their restaurant is great. We are locals and I'd recommend it to anyone. I always do to new comers to Fairbanks. The best Italian food in town. "Say yes to garlic"

I was on my way back to my hotel and decided to get a pizza from here. I walked in and there was nobody at the front desk, so i got a little worried. Just then, the owner, who had the night off and was just sitting at the bar, helped me. I thought this was awesome! The pizza was fantastic!! didn't have room for anything else, but would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Fairbanks. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the portion was large and again, the quality was fantastic!!

A dark and dingy but strangely attractive Italian Pizzeria. The outside is rather ugly but the inside is uniquely furnished. The staff is very friendly although when I went there they were a bit overworked and so were a bit slow. The real issue is that the food is outright bad. Let me put it this way, I hope you like chunks of garlic the size of your pinky finger nail in your food because that is what you're going to get. I'm all for garlic but you have to chop it fine otherwise every other bite is going to be a bitter crunch which is what we got. It doesn't matter what you order if it has garlic you're going to get this. The bites that manage to be garlic free are quite good just they are few and far in between. In the end if they just minced their garlic finer it would be a good place, but to put it bluntly we had lots to take home and it ended up never being eaten.

This is the first time that I have been back to Gerald's since the remodel, and I must Say that it is beautiful. The wait staff were great, very attentive. Not very busy late on a Sunday night. I ordered a New York steak that was prepared as ordered. The fresh zucchini was so over cooked and just awful. The second entree was bad from start to finish Veal Marcela sauce bad I believe they used a brandy instead of the wine, pasta so over cooked should be angle hair but was just broken bits and pieces of spaghetti. Dry as a bone. Same bad veggies. The salad bar was good clean and stocked.

  • Aidan R.

The atmosphere here is very nice. The staff is really friendly. But the food is just not up to par. I had the Chicken Alfredo, a pretty basic dish. I paid about twice the price for half the food of a normal Italian restaurant. I honestly think I would have been better off making the food at home.

Lovely pizza, decadent desserts. A bit pricey. Service was fast and friendly. I love the photos on the wall signed by celebrities. Overall, it is more of a special occasion restaurant.

I came here for dinner the other day. So far it's my favorite Italian place in Fairbanks. I ordered the sausage calzone and the French onion soup, my boyfriend ordered the lasagna. The lasagna was ok, what I would have expected. The calzone was huge, I ended up taking half of it home. It reheated pretty well too. The soup was ok, there was some spice in it that kept sticking in my throat and making me cough. The salad bar is extensive and comes with some entrees. It was kind of cramped and hot where they seated us (in the older part of the restaurant) and also very dark. I didn't mind the dark as much as I minded the cramped and hot. Maybe when it's -40 I'll visit again.

Nice little Italian restaurant. The foods is above agerage and the wine selection very good. The Lasagna was very good and loaded with tasty Italian sausage and the house chianti was a little meh.

Well, there wasn't much around our hotel, the Wedgewood, and the closest restaurant was Geraldo's... and so we make the 10 minute trek and were greeted with a quaint, low lighting, family joint exuding of garlic! I liked it! Our waitress was super nice as we ordered a round of beers and a pizza (mushrooms, artichokes, olives, garlic)... and it was delicious!!! We also splurged on a creme brulee and the waitress burnt the top for us table side... wasn't the best I had... but I'm not too picky when it comes to dessert. Kind of on the steep side as far as pricing goes... but I noticed food is more on the expensive side (I guess with all the importing?) vs. in Cali. Really small but a great local spot (or so we were told)... I liked it a lot and would have come back again if we didn't have to change hotels midway through our vacay... taxis are pretty expensive.

This is by far the best pizza I've had in Fairbanks. Much like a New York style pie, it has all the greasy goodness that pizza lovers crave. I enjoyed it so much, I went back a couple of days later on my way to the airport. A medium size pie will feed two nicely for around $25.

Food, very good. The pizza was what I would call a classic style, nothing super over the top, but classy and good. Steamer clams, very good as well. We ordered take out, some confusion here, as when we showed up the pizza wasn't done because they didn't do 1/2 and 1/2 (white sauce & red sauce on the same pie). So we had to come back, a hassle and a goat rope. 2 more stars for better service.

What you got here is a half way decent italian restaurant with expensive food that is half way decent. You'll pay a lot, and get an OK meal. I would advise staying away from the the main pasta dishes and sticking with their pizzas. Their pizzas are really good, my personal favorite is the garlic lovers pizza. Here's their biggest down fall--their service. It's an unmitigated disaster. In an ideal situation when you eat out, you expect the following: 1. A host will greet you and take your name down. 2. Eventually someone will escort you to your table and possibly ask for your drink order. 3. A short while later a server will ask for your order. 4. Every now and then your server may check your drinks. 5. Food comes out. 6. You eat. 7. Your server takes away the unedible vittles and give you a check. 8. Your server comes back for your check, takes payment and usually draws a smiley face on the receipt in hopes of receiving a tip. This establishment seems to do OK with step 1 and 2. Then things fall apart. Step 3 may or may not happen and if it does, it won't happen in any particular order (I've found if you're a white person with a collared shirt, step 3 will come your way a little quicker vs the mustard stained wife-beater.) Instead expect step 4 to happen. A lot. They seem to have these servers whose sole purpose is to nothing but fill water glasses. It's all they know how to do. They don't speak, they don't serve and they don't answer questions; they just fill your water glass. It kind of reminds me of those floor reps in Walmart. Whenever you need them, they look at you blankly and tell you they don't work that dept... which then begs the question, if you don't work that dept, what the helll are you doing there right? I digress. Once your server does take time out of her day to get your order, I would suggest getting out your cell phone and playing some video games, Soduko would be the way to go. I play Zombiebirds myself and after about 40 mins, I switch over to Angry Birds. Eventually your food will come. My wife got the pasta with meatballs. The meatballs are not homemade, they come from Sam's Club and are frozen. They may or may not be thawed by the time they reach your table. These are just things us Alaskans just have to learn to accept, right? The pizza was good. Not worth the wait. Just good. I'd highly suggest carry-out and just order the pizza. If you insist on eating in, plan on a long night and bring cash, if you give them a credit card, your server might get lost between the register and your table. Decent food, (once thawed completely) but horrible service.

This little Italian hole in the wall eatery is just what the doctor ordered after two months on the North Slope! It's small and quaint, and the wine selection is not bad. They have an extensive menu with pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and everything in between. I had the veggie fettuccine. Very rich but delicious! With a side of garlic toast and some wine! Good stuff! The service is very friendly and relaxed. It's not a fast paced atmosphere (like much of the city). You can come here have a few drinks, and indulge in some great Italian food! They have a big patio for those cool evenings. I'll be back for sure!

Well, it's a stereotypical Italian Restaurant, one the Mario Brothers would love to frequent. It has gaudy pleather boothes, rounded edges, wood, and low lighting. Food, typical, lots of cream, blandness, and nice servers. I make it sound bad, but it's just so typical. I guess it's just good by local standards. I came for lunch and I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with three cheeses in cream $16.95, and came with 2 pieces of garlic bread. The dish consisted of 6 jumbo shrimp, noodle, and heavy cream. For wetting my whistle I ordered an Alaska White, $4.50/ glass. The server was nice and prompt, with smiles. There was a lunch buffet, $11.99, but though touted as the best deal in the place did not look promising. There were other typical menu offering such as meatball subs and pizzas. It was an A-ok experience, nothing amazing, but good homey feeling.

We were in town for a couple days before our Alaskan cruise. Where we were staying there were not too many options but this was within walking distance and had decent reviews so we had a try. We decided on pizza, garlic bread and tiramisu for dessert. The pizza was great it really had great flavor and was quite filling. (it also made for a great breakfast the next day). Garlic bread: nothing special reminds me of what mom would put on the table with spaghetti the Tiramisu was quite good. Overall the food was decent and service was slow but everyone was nice and pleasant.

Stuffed manicotti and chicken parmigiano sub were very good. Good sized servings. Prompt service. Very nice restaurant.

Had the buffet for lunch. One person was complaining about no zucchini, and sure enough after we paid, and started walking out they were putting zucchini on the buffet table (just in time for the late lunch crowd). Meatballs were ok, marinara a tad sweet. Other than the, salad options (boring) and zucchini, the choices are pretty high on the calories and glycemic for lunch. Italian food is so much more than semolina pasta, with cream sauce and cheese. The lunch buffet is too mundane and too heavy, and pricy, for lunch. I'll go back to order off menu, for dinner, or pizza, but not a high priority.

The food was very good and the service was up to par. It was close to the hotel and it was the best meal I had in town.

Food here was mediocre, staff was somewhat average and we didn't even go during a busy time. This place thrives off of old tourists because its within walking distance of a resort. I know because I lived next to it. But it's fairbanks so you won't find anything really worth traveling far if your just visiting

Every time we come here its delicious! I get the french onion soup and Chicken Marsala each visit and am never disappointed. The staff is very friendly but usually slow. The restaurant just had a makeover so its really nice inside and they added an outdoor patio as well. Great wine selection if you are into that. Just know it is one of the fancier places in town so bring some $$.

If we are talking the food, this would probably get 5 stars from me.... I had the garlic lovers chicken pizza and it was hands down the best pizza I've ever had.... No exaggeration. My fiancée got a calzone and devoured it... It was amazing, delicious food! What was not great was that the service was terrible... It took them about 20 minutes to even ask for our drink order, then about another 10-15 in between each visit. It seemed we had three or four different servers which was weird, and none knew what they other had already done or asked. The salad bar was sad, lettuce, maybe 3 toppings (carrots cheese and peppers), some macaroni and potato salad and dressings. Next time I want Geraldos, I will order to go!

We went to Geraldo's for our anniversary. We had never been before. We we promptly seated by the hostess, then someone came and left water on the table. But after that no one came to our table at all. After 15 minutes of no one even bothering to take our drink order or taking the time to tell us someone would be with us shortly, we left. Poor customer service.

The first thing you see when you walk into Geralado's is a sign that proclaims the restaurant's love for garlic. It was love at first sight! My favorite part of this Italian restaurant is it's quaintness. It feels well lived in but not dirty -- like a comfy pair of old jeans. Not glitzy but comfortable. Their menu is what you'd expect, lasagna, spaghetti, manicotti, oh my! All lathered in the deliciousness we love to call cheese. If you're into counting calories this is probably not the place for you, but the salad bar is always stocked with fresh crisp veggies and the pizza (though I've never had it) looks delicious as well, so there really is something for everyone. The average cost per person is about $20 on the cheaper side and $30 on the higher end depending on what dish you get and if you're a wine lover like myself. I recommend taking a good friend or a first date to this quaint place -- the atmosphere is perfect for chatting the evening away and the booths allow for a bit of privacy. Settle back with a glass of Riesling or your wine of choice and let the good times roll!

This is more like "Italian." It's actually kind of gross, unless you just go there for the pizza. Everything they make is SOAKED in this garlic butter sauce stuff, which has literally just got to be melted butter with garlic and some Italian seasoning. The vegetables were soggy, and by the time I was done eating, the whole plate was just a pool of melted butter. The third time I went there, I got a steak and requested no butter/sauce, so that was a slight improvement. However, my medium steak was cooked well done and I had a heck of a time trying to cut through it with their cheapo knife. The prices they charge for their dishes are crazy, too. I just don't think they get it there. If you stick to pizza only, you're probably safe. Otherwise, don't do it.

The service was slow both times I went there, even though they weren't that busy either time. The fettucini seemed like it was made straight from a box, and the pizza was just okay.

My family of 5 went there for dinner, got seated immediately though a little cramped. Had a stale odor in the air, the appetizers "Bruschetta" was really good stuff. The staff was attentive and prompt. The kid's pizzas were delicious. Our meals were not very presentable though had good taste and flavors. There was way to much just thrown on the plate. Not worth the price

Excellent service and quaint ambiance, but food was ok. I ordered the clam linguine, but requested red sauce instead. It had a nice spice, but nothing to shout about. The salad bar is inconveniently in the route of the servers and in front of customer tables...a tight, high traffic area, not convenient.

Horrible service. Took forever to get our food. They sat us next to the kitchen door and we had to listen to the cooks and waiters drop the f-bomb every other word and talk about how black out drunk they got the night before. I ordered soup for an appetizer and they never brought it out. When I mentioned they had forgot the appetizer, they offered to give it to me for free and brought it out half way through the meal. I ordered chicken Alfredo and have to admit it was pretty good, but the horrible service ruined it. Once we finished eating it took the waiter 15 minutes to acknowledge our existence and get the check. He brought the check and after 15 more minutes had still not returned . I finally walked up to the front and found him talking on the phone. Not impressed.

My husband and I ate at Geraldo's on Sunday evening. The atmosphere was nice, but overall our experience was not. We were seated at 5:50 and did not receive our food until 6:45. During that time I was completely underwhelmed by the salad bar. The lettuce did not seem fresh and the Italian dressing just tasted of oil (my husband couldn't even taste it!). The disappointment continued when we received our entrees. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The Alfredo sauce was alright but that was all I enjoyed about the dish. The pasta was overcooked and the dish was greasy. My husband's sausage calzone was the real disappointment. It seemed overcooked on the outside but when he cut into it there was a lot of raw squishy dough inside on the bottom of the calzone. On top of that it had an overwhelming taste of pepper and had huge pieces of green bell peppers that made it hard to eat. By the end of our meal my husband was starting to feel sick to his stomach and when we got home that night he became ill. I definitely attribute his upset stomach to the food at Geraldo's. The service staff was somewhat helpful and pleasant besides the fact that they neglected my empty drink for the entirety of the meal and I did not get a refill. The food at Geraldo's is not worth the price. We ended up spending a good amount of money just to feel sick to our stomachs as well as very disappointed. We will not be returning.

Second time here and just as delicious. All 6 entrees we've tried have been very good. The menu is diverse and offers a great variety of Italian dishes. Pizza was good, seafood pasta was good, veal parmigiana was good, chicken marsala was good, steak was good...in other words, it's all good! Adam will start you off with a fine martini at the bar as well!

I've been here twice and haven't been greeted in a timely manner either time. I ordered at the bar and it's taking 45 mins so far... Haven't received it yet..... To receive my cannelloni. For the price, shouldn't it be a little faster???? Two others came in after me and were served before me. What's going on here? They both ate, cashed out and left. How am I slipping through the cracks?

I was not a fan of their food. You hardly get any veal with the veal parmesan and their spaghetti was extremely garlicky. We got seated in a weird two person table tucked in the back corner sitting above another couple who looked uncomfortable that we were breathing down their necks. The service was my impressive it took over an hour to get our food after we placed our order.

We used to love this place. However, when we recently had dinner there...it was pricey(not so much an issue), but the food was bland, the food took forever to arrive and the appetizers which should come out quickly and timely prior to the main course...never showed up at all... Nice atmosphere otherwise....but not impressed at all with the food.

This is the second time we have been to Geraldo's. First time we had great waitress who reassured us when our food took forever and she comped us our drinks. Tonite, we entered to a lovely view of a waitress and a cook making out at the hostess stand who looked very annoyed that we interrupted them when we asked to be seated. Our waiter was clearly stoned. We got wine which was excellent. We ordered at 5:45, a pizza and a calzone. Our waiter disappeared into ganja-town and we never saw him again. Wine gone...now 6:50...the guests at other tables also starting to get upset and planning a mutiny. It's 7:25...no waiter. A confused busser approaches one table after another asking if each ordered what she carried. Each says "no" with annoyance. My man and I look at each other, and spontaneously agree to blast. We take a B-line for Papa Murphys and get 2 ready to bake pies for 10bucks with his military discount...Geraldo's...you suck ass! Where is your management staff??? (I should be able to give no stars fo sho!!!)

Ok, here's the deal with Geraldo's. Another restaurant in fairbanks trying to serve Italian food. The food was descent, by no means was it authentic Italian food. I grew up in Boston and in an Italian family and Italian food is what I know best. The sauce was another cheap version of red sauce and when it comes to an Italian restaurant you should have quality home made authentic Italian sauce. There sauce is no where near authentic and taste very tart, bland. The prices as usual in Alaska are way to high for what you get, the apps are very basic, the pasta is box pasta, not fresh, and the recipes are basic Italian recipes, nothing special at all. If you're looking for a descent, basic Italian restaurant then Geraldo's is OK, but if you're looking for a nice authentic Italian restaurant with real recipes, amazing sauce, seafood, pasta, etc. then move along. Gonna be hard, if not impossible to et in Alaska.

The atmosphere here is very nice. The staff is really friendly. But the food is just not up to par. I had the Chicken Alfredo, a pretty basic dish.

After 3 visits I've left feeling disappointed each time. The food is heavy and drowning in sauces, which is prepared bland or over-seasoned. What's most disappointing is the waitstaff that express no knowledge of the food or wine list. I will not be returning.

Pricy, but the food is really just ok. The Chicken Parm wasn't great. The chicken had little flavor. The pizza was also just ok, just not great or memorable for the price you pay.

Yummy

Good but not great. Good service towards the picky ones in my party but I found the portions a little too skimpy. I had the seafood pasta and for $28 dollars I shouldn't still be hungry while leaving.

Lunch buffet there a few weeks ago was great. But tonight, the veal was the toughest in my life, service poor, kitchen slow.

  • Rebecca P.

  • Chris S.

  • Gina B.

  • Jeff V.

Pretty good pizza for Fairbanks standards, and they feature other Italian dishes as well. Over all nothing out of the ordinary but a good choice for pizza.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
