Come for the food, stay for the scotch and don't forget the added treat of an amusingly decorated loo in the middle of Alaska! I've been away from home for awhile, but some local alumni friends took me by for a meal and adult beverages after a conference this spring. All I have to say is if Bobby's had been open when I was going to UAF, I would've taken eight years to graduate instead of only six. Like other reviews have mentioned, the service at Bobby's is spectacular and the food pretty good (especially for Fairbanks), but the ambiance and atmosphere are really where it's at. When our small party of six turned into a rousing reunion of about 50, the wait staff didn't even blink an eye and just squeezed in a few extra tables and chairs to the fun. You have to love that kind of personal service and attention to detail--Bobby's is a Fairbanks kind of joint for Fairbanks kind of folks. Can't wait to check out the live Jazz when I come back, I hear it's great.

Good solid Greek in the middle of Alaska - who'd a thunk? - Lots of large portions and even their pizza and non-Greek fare was surprising good

Great staff, great service and the best bathroom I've ever seen at any restaurant. You basically get a whole office to do your business in, a whole room with it's own sink and room to stretch out. That being said, the prime rib sandwich I had was not good. It had a horrible flavor. The rest of the table ordered greek cuisine, probably a good idea at a greek restaurant.

For Greek food, not bad. Lunch was better than my dinner experience though. In the evenings it's quite busy and the service is incredibly slow. If you get a pizza with spinach on it-be prepared it will mostly be cooked spinach. Appetizers were great, and the restaurant itself was quaint.

$175 for four! So beware. this place is pricey. Only one of us had drinks, too (two glasses of house wine). We had very good service. The appetizers were very tasty. We enjoyed a fried cheese appetizer with lemon that was very good, but the pita bread to eat it on cost three bucks more. (the pita bread was delicious but I'd think it would come with the cheese-c'mon!) The calamari was some of the best I've had. My lemon chicken soup was crisp-tasting and delicious. The main courses were pretty good but my "garlic" prawns seemed more like lemon and mustard than garlic (swimming in butter). The halibut was tough on the outside but enjoyable. My other companion had moussaka and thought it was really good. Overall, Bobby's is quite good "for Fairbanks" (I hate to say that) but not incredibly great. I know Alaska can be expensive but for these prices, I hoped for more. I saw reviews elsewhere on the Web that mentioned the great decor and bathrooms- umm, they weren't that exciting either.

My absolute fav in Fairbanks. You can't go wrong to order their Greek Salad over rice with Halibut. Also the gyro is outstanding and comes with lemon potatoes :) Also, it's not on the menu but if you are a coffee drinker....order a Bobby's coffee for a special treat.

It was good. But a bit on the pricey side. Nice atmosphere. I was still a bit hungry leaving this place. :/

There is not a lot of places to go in Fairbanks, and Bobby's is actually a good place to be. The service is always great and the food is always decent. I can't complain much about this place provided that I lived in fairbanks for a few months and been to pretty much every single restaurant in town. Bobby's could be expensive for the quality of their food, but hey, Its Fairbanks, ALASKA. I started to like this place after I have experienced how 'alaskan' other restaurants could be :)

We had family in town and decided to order some pizza's to go, the crust was amazing but not worth the hour wait. The price was a bit much $97 for three larges. We left smelling like ash trays as well, it's been a long time since I have been inside a restaurant that has a open smoking area.

best bathroom in fairbanks. strange award to give recognition to, but go check it out for yourself and you'll see what i'm talking about. but bathroom aside, the heated bar is sooooo key in the winter. amazing amazing amazing! for me this place is a stop-off while in the early stages of a night out in fairbanks, but the food is amazing and the live music on the weekends is awesome too, so even if you're not a big drinker you'll still definitely enjoy this place.

Excellent food. Steak plus pasta combo worked well together. Top notch service. Jazz later in the evening was quite good.

Delicious Greek food. Everything's well thought out, even the side dishes are super tasty. Good for dining and has a swanky bar area for live music and drinks later in the evening.

There aren't a ton of restaurants in Fairbanks so we ended up at Bobby's one night. Dinner started nicely with an Oosik Amber ($5) and some standard garlic bread. After that it took forever for our entrees. We're talking a 2 hour dinner here... After that I had the weirdest caesar salad I've ever had. It was topped with marinated peppers and onions, so it was a certainly a greek version of a caesar salad. When I see caesar on the menu I assume croutons, parmesan cheese, romaine lettuce, and caesar dressing, and this salad was missing some of these key ingredients. 2 stars for ridiculously slow service and the most bizarre caesar salad I've ever had.

The food was horrible and the service was horrendous. Never go to this establishment!

Saganaki and hummus was deelish. Everything is OVERPRICED. Pizza, the Aphrodite, would have been much better without the tiny and fishy smelling bait shrimp. IMO, bait shrimp should never be served at a restaurant where people pay for it without knowing they are about to be served fish bait. The pizza had great potential until the foul shrimp ruined it. Besides the overpriced food, stank pizza, the service was fair. The ambience was incredibly loud, I prefer the bar dining area to the dining hall. I enjoy the place, not so much the bill tho! $227 for five people, 2 appetizers (which average $15 a piece). Hmmmmm...not cool.

Definitely where I love to go for a romantic evening with my husband. The decor is beautiful, the service is always fantastic and the food has always been delicious. My favorite is the seafood fettucine. It has scallops that are huge and succulent, halibut that is seared ti perfection, swordfish that just melts in your mouth and prawns that are sweet and tender. The alfredo sauce isnt too thick and doesnt coat your mouth like so many others. The pasta is always cooked just right with a slight bite to it. The moussaka and the spanikopita are delicous. Very buttery, which may be a downfall to some but I find it nice to find a place that doesnt skimp on the real stuff. Dessert is always very fresh and seems to be seasonal which I adore. The coffees and after dinner drinks are great. A Bobbys coffee is a real treat. My favorite experience here was bringing our two young daughters for a celebration dinner for the oldest earning an award from the school district. They got all dressed up in their frilliest dresses and were treated wonderfully by the waitstaff. They were brought special fancy drinks in beautiful sugar ringed glasses that they giggled about for days. Although they do not have a childrens menu, they do have a lot of options that can be served in half portions for the children. They even cut my youngest daughters food into smaller slices before it was served without being asked. We left with my girls saying that they felt like princesses. :) Prepare to pay for your nice evening out though. I dont mind paying a little extra since I feel Im getting my moneys worth but it is pricey. And the bathrooms are beautiful. :) At least the womens room is.

Very good Greek food in the middle of Alaska. Obviously, transportation logistics of shipping perishable produce to the tundra have influenced the evolution of the dishes, but like everything up here, this has been overcome and the end result is excellent. After a week of cruise ship food, the Greek salad called to me like a siren. I followed willingly and gratefully.

This was the first time, and our anniversary night out to top it off. Over priced for what you get and you have to walk through a SMOKE filled bar in order to be seated in an elevated dining area. Next to a monstrously huge window in which the suns heat nicely radiated through making it uncomfortably hot. The waiter did not want to waste or time telling us the specials so he left the specials paper on the table. Although obviously being seated in his section a large party was also seated and he promptly spat out all of the specials and lavished them with service leaving us to inquire of other staff for things we needed like another drink just to name a few. Our waiter only came back to us seconds after our food was brought to the table and to bring us a check in which we had to ask to get. A Greek salad does not just consist of green and red bell peppers and some tomatoes. The white sauce was too heavy for a pasta dish and the garlic toast was over cooked. If pizzas are the number one items ordered then call it a pizza joint or an Italian restaurant for all of the Italian not Greek items on the menu. I was not impressed and will not recommend this establishment to others.
