Heard the food was good from a number of people and decided to check it out. The server informed us that it would be a little bit because the kitchen was backed up, which was fine with us. We ordered an appetizer and entrees with no problems. We never got our appetizer. I ordered the sliders and my fiance ordered soup. The chicken in the soup wasn't fully cooked. My sliders were okay at best. They were supposed to come with fries but she forgot them, just like our appetizer. I eventually got my fries after having to ask for them. We were done with our food and glad to leave & never come back. But, then the server charged my card for someone else's bill. So after she supposedly corrected it we left. I'm sure I'll be having to call my bank tomorrow and correct the charge that I'm sure never got erased. I would like to say the service was terrible, but I think that word is too complimentary in this situation . One of the worst dining experiences ever. 0/5 rating.

This review is based on food only, not dine in. Sushi: completely disappointed. For the price I paid, I could go to Sushi Ya and get more. It looked like a half-shot job. They didn't even try. Very bland. Calamari: salty. Correct amount given for price, but incredibly salty. Ahi Tuna Tacos: Wow. They didn't try with this. Taste was okay. Presentation wasn't even there. But they threw everything together, so there's that. I believe if they lowered their prices, it would better reflect on the quality of their dishes. However because the prices are higher, people expect more, but Ling & Louis don't deliver. If the prices were lower, I don't believe people would complain. You get what you pay for.

Abysmal is how I would describe my dining experience there today. I guarantee they are going under. First thing, they have eight Sakes on their menu. Most of which are respectable. Out of the 8 on the menu, they only had one. One table sake. Second, we came during happy hour to get half off appetizers. As long as you sit on the 'patio' (barrels arranged on the sidewalk), or inside during happy hour, apps are half off. Sweet deal right? Turns out if you have the Groupon for L&L, you don't get any special deals. All full price. At this point I'm starting to wonder why I came in at all. I could get sake and decent asian food across the road at New Sagaya, or Sushi Yako. By now I'm seriously wishing I had gone anywhere else. We skip the apps and nonexistent sake. I go for the Uncle Fu's Fried Rice, and when it arrives it's fresh and full of flavor. And the fried rice is why L&L is getting two stars instead of one. I don't think I'll be back. What a dull 'happy hour'.

I've given this place several chances and they always seem to disappoint. The first thing that always happens is that we're told there is going to be a really long wait (45 mins to an hr), and they don't take reservations for groups less than 6. I wouldn't mind except that by the time we get seated, the waitress always has to recite the long list of things they are out of (including calamari, ahi tuna, and mushrooms among the unavailable foods at our last visit). This means about 1/5 of the one-page menu's dishes are out of the running. We always have to wait excessively for our food. One visit we waited about an hour, and they did comp one of our dishes, which was one reason we wanted to give them another try. Overall the food is just not good enough to outweigh all the negatives. Most recently my entree was alright (blackened chicken and pork) but the soup I ordered was the WORST thing I've ever eaten in a restaurant. It was the Tom Kha Gai, and it was a sour coconut soup with bitter burnt chicken bits. It was exactly like the one time I put a chicken tender on my foreman grill and forgot about it... Just terrible. Long story short they ran out of second and third chances and I won't waste my money there again.

Anchorage, Alaska is one of my favorite vacation destinations. They have awesome restaurants one of them being Ling and Louie's. The food is always great! Must haves are pot stickers, crab wontons, fire cracker chicken, house chicken and Mongolian beef. Dishes are always served hot. I am sure you are asking why the low rating? Here is my reason. Family decided to got eat there after a day trip to Girdwood. My family of 14 was met promptly at the door and sat in their private room. Unfortunately it was dark due to a bulb being blown out. We asked the waitress if the bulb could be replaced or if we could be moved. She said bulb could be replaced. After about 10mins someone finally came and took our food order, but not our drink orders. About 20mins later we noticed a waitress replacing light bulbs in fixtures, but not ours. When then noticed we had no silverware to eat the apps we ordered. My sister found the supply of prepared wrapped silverware and decided to take it upon herself to get our table eating utinsles after not being able to grab the attention of the waitress. About 40 mins later after being seated they finally made it back to the private room to replace the light bulb. I am shocked with how poor ther service was and how unaware our server was to the situation. Ling and Louie's has definitely moved down on my list of top Anchorage restaurants due to the service my family received today.

Definitely DO NOT COME HERE. Terrible customer service, had to flag down the waitress and physically go find her to refill our water. Shrimp was half frozen half cooked in New Wave Pad Thai, Chicken fried rice was extremely salty, the restrooms look worse than a gas station's and our plates sat on our table till we were about to leave before being cleared away. Best part of this visit was the lemon in the first serving of water

The food is suuuuper hit or miss. Mostly miss on lunch time. Service is always decent, but visibly understaffed (especially at lunch), almost always polite, and pretty much always slow. Most of their food is really quite good on their on point days. Interesting combinations and fantastic names. I've never had any good luck with their sushi, which is sad. Actually, I rarely seem to be there when their sushi chef is there, but when I have made it, it's seemed like it had been sitting out or reused. They must used a weird kind of wasabi, because it's hard and chalky. Unless it's just old, maybe. I'm not sure. Drink prices are just on the high side of average for Anchorage. When the kitchen is functioning and the management schedules a reasonable amount of staff, it's usually a fantastic experience. Hopefully they'll get more consistent.

Mini-mall restaurant feel. Nice enough interior. Staff seems young and inexperienced. The menu is pretty impressive, Asian fusion, mexican type selections. The food tastes pre made, almost like its frozen from and bag and then heated up.

I won a gift card for this place. Until then I never heard about it. So when we went. The first thing we ordered at 5:00 pm was a California roll. The server said they were out of rice. Really??? Than we ordered etomome. It had no seasoning. So I asked for some salt. She said they were out of sea salt. Than we had potstickers , over cooked. Than we tried the ahi. Really bland. So. We only tried appetizers as it was half off. Doubt we would go back.

So as I write this I've been sitting here forty minutes - since my check in - and I have yet to even receive my appetizers. I've watched two tables who came in after me get service, appetizers and entrees however. The place is nearly empty, and I got some excuse about kitchen confusion - I'm waiting for a sushi roll, some pot stickers and fried rice?!?! I'll update this with the results. Update: the sever told me she's been bugging the cooks about it, and when I asked for the manager he told me they "lost the ticket". The nastiest pot stickers ever just arrived after 50 minutes. (Cool, soggy). Hangry. I cannot help but wonder if this was because I have a groupon - they asked as we walked in if we were groupon. Another couple has now arrived, eaten and left since I ORDERED. Manager apologized, comped the dinner and bought the kids a dessert. One star back. I'll return with the groupon I bought and keep it a secret until I pay, and I'll give the place another chance.

I am personally not a fan of Asian cuisine. HOWEVER, everyone I come here with raves about their meals. The atmosphere is mellow and inviting, and the owners and managers obviously take a lot of pride in how this restaurant is run. It's a "beer and wine only" account. And being an Irish Whiskey drinker, that disappoints me. Overall, it's just not my kind of restaurant. But if you like Asian / American fusion food, it's the best place in Anchorage to enjoy it!

Nasty! Seriously that was some of the worst food I've eaten. The hostess was bored. she seemed annoyed we came in the door. We were on a date and yet she seated us in a group of families with young kids, when the rest of the place was empty. The food was awful. I chose pad Thai and it was so sweet it was Inedible. The waiter never even bothered to ask if we liked our meal. I do NOT recommend this place at all.

S to the A to the L-T-Y! The presentation is nice, the staff were nice but the quotes on the wall are tacky and the food way too salty.

Thai at its best, I enjoy a good Thai spot & in Anchorage this would be my recommendation to dine in if you want a good Thai meal. The decor Is upscale & pleasant. The Pad Thai is great here very flavorful, they get spice right ! Beers are large & cold. I'll be returning. Plus they don't serve up dog.

You could have fooled me...once but you won't get me twice. Another 'groupon' story, there are many where a person buys a groupon thinking they are getting a good deal, then bam, either the fine print got them or for some reason groupn-holding customer is the pawn of passive-aggressive pot-shots between the pofit consicous destination managers and stategic overthinking corporate executives. Whaaatever...I was a victim of the former, and after sitting down, getting water and menus, and spending a good long time looking at the menu deciding what to eat (because we were given such ample time to read the menu, as it was, yawn, so boring on the floor) when the waitress (finally) arrived to take our order and saw the groupon on the table she said, that we had to order off the dinner menus. So she took our lunch menus and came back with voila, dinner menus! Ah, so groupon deal is only good for dinner? No just the majority of what's on the menu, the wok and noodle dishes have to be ordered off the dinner menu. And those prices are jacked. So a little bait and switch there, but when I went back to read the fine print it just said the Wok and Noodle and Rice dishes are not eligible at lunch time -which really is the majority of the dishes on the menu. So it was a bit confusing but now I understand, however, the waitress sort of didn't explain this very well. Still a deal nevertheless ($30 worth of food for $15). I ordered the Evil Jungle Princess and asked, very politely, if I could subsitute duck instead of chicken, and that was no problem. Kudos for that!. However, the dish itself was extremely bland, and everything but the five or six green beans (the fresh vegetables part) was mush. Like porridge. There was a slight hint of coconut and Thai basil but red curry? No, not there. Half way through when the waitress came by to check I asked if the had any spicy condiments (cause this 'red curry' was def absent) and went through the entire crucible of the Sambal I was given. All in all, I might go here again to try something else, but I really wasn't that intrigued by the menu. Ling and Louie's sells itself as an Asian bar and grill, with 'fusion' in the subtext. Louie's Favorites on the menu include meatloaf, hamburger, BLT, chicken tacos and fillet mignon sliders. All with an Asian Fusion twist, apparently, none of which sound very interesting to me. Hopefully there won't be a Fool Me Twice. Seeing this place practically empty right at lunch time on a summer Friday, was somewhat telling.

Just had lunch here and it was great. I had the mongolian beef and my husband had the ahi tacos. Both were cooked to perfection and well flavored. The atmosphere is very nice. Nice bar area. Best food I've had in a while at a not high end restaurant. I'll definitely eat here again and recommend to friends to try. Looking forward to trying other dishes.

I've never been offered half price appetizers on a weekend to be informed they only have 2 available for purchase. We were informed 10 mins after we ordered that the one we had ordered wasn't available. So I ordered a pad Thai and received someone else's order. Finally got the correct order and the noodles were half cooked and so much sauce I couldn't taste anything else. All the while, my husband ate his food. I left and had had very little to eat after a solid hour. Buy more food!! Get more servers!! Don't put the servers in this situation!! Do you want your restaurant to succeed, Ling and Louies??

The food is innovative and tasty, but overly sauced. The service is the worst I have ever experienced, five times in a row. We keep trying to put up with the worlds most slow and inconsiderate service because the food is good, but I think this is our last try. 10 minutes and still no one has shown up at our table. Get it together, Ling. Saturday night, 8pm, 7 tables occupied besides ours, half of the seats in the bar are filled. 11 minutes and hailing one manager to get water. 15 minutes before we saw a server. 23 minutes before we got our appetizer and drinks. 38 minutes to dinner on the table. A new fastest record at Ling & Louie's! The food was very good.

Been twice and 2nd time said we'd never come back. Bland food and a very slow and confused server. Tried for 3rd time because of groupon. Different food and different server, same situation. Way over-sauced food, everything was drenched in a sugar sauce. Bad server and kitchen staff.

It makes me sad to see this place only having 3 stars, but I can understand if others had a different experience. Based on my experience, this place was awesome. I came during the afternoon and while slow and understaffed, the staff was very nice and the sushi was surprisingly legit. Prices weren't too bad, and what was really cool is that Since the lady was concerned the chef might have cooked my food too long, she made a double order for me for free!! Also, the first order was still good. Would gladly come again!

Great decor, nice atmosphere, mouth watering menu; but the hostess SUCKS, she is never where she should be, we almost walked out when we got here because we were unsure about seating. Ugly cluttered hostess desk, a table right across from the kitchen (like, really?!), server forgot my appetizer and I'm starving!, crappy service, super long wait time for food. Could be fantastic if staffed better. And some man that works here keeps walking back and forth which is distracting and and annoying. Just found out the chef walked out...like up and quit...not professional at all. My food was okay (F'n sliders) being that the executive manager (or w/e) had to make it instead of the usual cook. The crab wontons were pretty good. My husbands wok fried rice with filet minog, chicken, and shrimp was delicious. And their banana dessert was to die for. This could easily be one of my favorite restaurants if it were under new management.

Third star because we were able to get seated right away even though we had a party of 7 with no reservation. Food and service were ok - nothing special. The calamari appetizer was very good while the pot stickers were Costco quality. Portions of main courses were abundant so if you're hungry, this is a place to consider. A couple of us like spicy so we went with the dishes annotated with the fire guy (the hotest) which turned out to be average. If you want spicy, guess you have to ask for it. Draft beer prices were higher than is typical for Anchorage. Doubt I'll be back...

Iv been wanting to try this place so bad. My mom and I were trying to find a new place to eat lunch. We looked on groupon and purchased their groupon. Came in the same day, and oh my gosh. We will be coming back, hands down. My mom got the burger with Parmesan fries, and I got the meat loaf, as well as we got the potstickers as a appetizer. I seriously can't get over how yummy our food was. And the prices are not bad either.

Wow, best Asian in Anchorage, the Calimari app is fantastic, most places in town serve Calimari Steak, I love the small body Calamari with the tentacles, excellent! Jeweled Beef - Amazing - however the wok bbq's the filet mignon in this dish it's flavor is beautiful. I get the highest spice level 3 and get the noodles on the side. Our new favorite for lunch in town!

This one is a toughie. I wasn't terrible impressed with the food the two times I have been there and the wait staff seems a little....lethargic? The first time I went, my companion and I shared the Mongolian flatbread. It was tasty, but how could it not be? it was loaded with oil, aioli, cheeses, and beef. On top of bread. Get in my mouth, but please, don't stick to my thighs! The wine list is nicely extensive, but pretty overpriced. Both times I went on a groupon deal and was happy I did. I couldn't imagine paying full price for some of the entrees. My friend had a simple beef and broccoli meal that he thought was tasty, but didn't taste all that adventuresome to me. The thing that intrigued me about this place was the idea of getting upscale Asian food and the flavors just fell flat for me. The other evening I got the evil jingle princess meal for takeout. It boasted chicken and fresh vegetables in a red curry peanut sauce with Thai basil over jasmine rice. The order was 15 min late & I saw the bartender take a shot with what appeared to be repeat customers (I get it, I get it, bartenders do this, but yeesh, try and be more discreet!). Following this, the bartender had a difficult time doing simple math leading me to wonder...how many shots has she had tonight?! More importantly: dinner. It kind of sucked but I woofed it down because I was at the end of a two job day and hungry! I could have sworn that they zapped a lean cuisine in the microwave and dumped it into my to-go container. This was a toughie because I wanted to like this joint, but it just feels {already} like a run-down franchise.

Definately boring. I wanted to get the spiciest thing on the menu and get it extra spicy. Apparently the only "spice" they have in the kitchen to add is Siracha. Seriously? On top of that, of the 3 meals (orange chicken, evil jungle princess & firecracker chicken tacos) and 2 soups I tasted, only the tacos didn't taste like soy sauce. The soy sauce was overpowering to say the least. Our server was good. The calamari appetizer was decent, considering. The dinner was awesome, but not because of the food (I was in the company of my 3 sisters.) The best way to describe the food is "Asian Taco Bell" (at thrice the price). I wouldn't recommend it. But maybe I just ate there on the wrong night. You know, how you go to Taco Bell sometimes and their beans are thick or crunchy....Then again, it's $2.99, not $17.99

This is not an actual review because we never got to eat there! Had a special date on Sunday, May 24th. First went on to L&L site, reviewed their menu, and checked out their hours. We went there and IT WAS CLOSED! A little note on the door said they would be back Tuesday. If they plan to be closed on a day when it's stated they are open, shouldn't it be posted on their site? Maybe we'll return; maybe not. Went to Qdoba; it was good.

Sat at bar to start out and it took the young lady several minutes to notice us. She did make up for it with her happy attitude and positive reviews of beers on tap. The dinner experience was okay. Our server took over 5 minutes to greet us. Then, when we asked for silverware and napkins, she took another ten minutes to bring those items to us! Meanwhile we has the lettuce wraps sitting in front of us with the meat getting cold. For the main course I had the seared beef which was really good. My friend had the New Wave Pad Thai which she really liked although a bit spicy for me! We ordered the Banana Caramel Spring Roll for desert. Since the service had been slow my friend timed how long it would take to get desert. From the time we ordered until it landed on our table was 24 minutes! Way too long! The desert was really good though but that doesn't make up for the wait. Young friendly staff but they get caught up in talking to each other rather than working. This could be a really good place if the servers were more alert. Also it was my first visit and I wasn't told about the menu or concept. Not a biggie but would have been nice.

I was apprehensive to try this restaurant due to the negative reviews but I'm so glad I did. The food was amazing, The service was amazing, the selection was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing, and the drinks were amazing! I had a great time and will most definitely be back. I recommend the Crab Wontons and the Thai Mai!

I've been here twice now and both times the service has been quite good. We never waited more than a few minutes for our food and our drinks were always kept full. Our food was very good. I liked my General Ling's Chicken, and it was not swimming in a sticky sauce. I liked having a choice of rice too.

Went here after a horrible experience at Pro Nails for a glass of wine and appetizers with friends. Lucky for us it was 1/2 price appetizers. The food and wine were both really good and the service was great. Nice place to drop in for a quick bite and drink.

Dirty bathroom with piss literally on the wall Toilet paper everywhere. Women's was out of order. Our waiter not only told us the owner made the two head Chefs leave, but was also about to lose his business. Went on to say the staff has fun "messing" with customers who want a manager because there are no managers. Front staff wiped half a plates worth of food onto middle of floor and left it there! It was still there when we left. Waited forever for drinks, consistently forgot what we were drinking. He then went and sat at the back for 25 mins while our appetizers were in the window... Proceeded to only bring one...The food has really fallen off!!!. This was very sad we really liked going here. We did not stay!!!! WILL NEVER GO BACK. Stay away

We had Mongolian Flat Bread, Calamari and the Black Orchid Ahi for appetizers and they were great as always. I love the sauce on the Ahi and the Asian slaw that comes with it. For dinner I had the Pepper Seared Beef and requested it be rare. The cook nailed it as the beef melted in my mouth. The service was attentive and very friendly. I had an awesome dinner! I wonder if those that complain about the time it takes for their order realize everything is made fresh when ordered?

This place is great. Been here several times and always been impressed with food and the service. The lettuce wraps are a great app. Sizzling surf and turf is totally worth the $20. They use the best filet mingon for this dish. Service is always friendly and swift. They have beer wine and sake only, no hard liquor which is why I didn't give them a 5 star :( Either way this place is great.

We showed up a little before noon on Thursday for lunch. Apparently the hostess is also the bus girl and we had to wait several minutes for her to go clean off a table for us. As everybody else has mentioned the service is really slow. It took us over 30 minutes to get our food, which for the lunch crowd is way too long. Stay away from the Pad Thai, it was super bland and a total waste of money. My brother got the Monsoon Chicken and Shrimp, which was actually pretty tasty. My dad said he really liked his combo fried rice. Due to the prices, slow service and bland food I will probably not come back here again. We really should have gone to Twin Dragon Mongolian BBQ like my Dad wanted in the first place.

Brittany F was the best server I've ever had. Was there for me whenever I needed with a smile. She recommended I try her ahi taco and I said I would love to. Was so delicious I felt like getting it to go. For dessert she said the heavenly cake was to die for and was she ever right. It was so moist, and the cream sauce, well was dripping. I am definitely coming again here over and over again...Bottom line-- Brittany Is the tits!!!

Run (don't walk) away! Went for lunch at the bar today and it was a disaster. The guys sitting next to us found something in their food ("I think it's part of the brush they use to clean the woks"), I didn't get what I ordered (tough to confuse ahi salad with pad thai), and we heard numerous apologies to other customers. When we finally got the food (which they did take off the check - a nice gesture on the part of the friendly bartender), it wasn't very tasty. Everything was swimming in soy sauce. Go for a drink, but skip everything else.

I'll concur with the previous review about the odd location and entrances. I only knew about this place because I had done some shopping in the mall a few months before. I didn't realize that this was a franchise either until one in my party mentioned it. Think P.F. Chang's style food. Service was friendly and the atmosphere nothing special. Three of us split the calamari appetizer. It was served on a bed of coleslaw and it was typical fried squid. We opted for three dishes served up family-style: Kung Pow! Beef (that's how it's spelled on the menu, a play on the spiciness of the dish), Taipei Pepper Beef, and Evil Jungle Princess Chicken. The meal came with either jasmine or brown rice. Since we were sharing, I tried a little of everything. All of it was flavorful, but not necessarily remarkable. Although the food was fine, I probably will not visit again since there was really no Wow in the Pow!

This is my second time here and it's pretty decent. The chicken lettuce wrap appetizers are awesome, the banana caramel spring roll dessert is amazing, and the strawberry limeade is delicous. These are always a must have for me. But the entrees are purely mediocre: either bland or too salty. The first time I was here I tried the Evil Jungle Princess Chicken which was forgettable. I also ordered the mojito made with sake, overly sweet. Not to mention they were playing Big Sean's Finally Famous album in the background. And while I love Big Sean I would prefer not to hear his vulgar lyrics during my dinner. Not classy Ling and Louie's. Second time I had the chicken and rice soup and the emerald chicken salad tonight and it doesn't leave a lasting impression. The soup was way too salty: soy sauce is not the only seasoning available, come on now! The salad was ok, but if you messed a salad up then you should just quite the food industry. The raspberry vinagrette is actually quite good. But $11.25 for a small bowl of soup and a small salad is a bit overpriced. If you are looking to try something new give this place a chance. The decor is lovely and the service is good.

My fiance was hesitant to eat here because they used to be notorious for slow service. We had no problem with their service which was quite quick. For an appetizer we had potstickers that were yummy. Fiance had the prime rib sliders which were delicious. I had a noodle dish that was also good. Great sake choices. We will definitely be eating here again.

BEWARE!! Do not go here. Horrible service and cold food because bartenders are too busy chatting. Manager promised to mail a certificate to refund the horrible service. It's been a year and I have sent reminders and have received nothing. Good luck.

Came here by the recommendation of our sales person at Sadler's furniture. We had to wait an hour before our bought mattress would be ready out of the warehouse. Place reminiscent of PF Chang's, but better. Had their Seared Ahi Salad with pickled ginger throughout: 4 stars. We also shared their F'n Loaded Sliders that sent us to comfort heaven: Fliet Mignon, blue cheese, bacon...need I say more?: 4.5 stars. Beers on tap were your usual Alaskan offerings, which is high standards folks. I was satisfied with my refreshing Högarten white ale. All this with endless garlic herb fries, oh joy to the world indeed!

Okay so I came here after purchasing a Groupon for this place a few days ago. My friend and I were immediately seated and had great service throughout our time here. My friend got tired of her husband telling her that shes not adventurous enough and wanted something different. So I chose for her! We had the ahi lettuce wraps, and we both settled on the Lings meatloaf with a strawberry limeade. Literally everything we had was so delicious, and didn't expect to get full so fast, but apparently the tuna dish that was had was really filling from what the waitress said. Couldn't even order the banana caramel spring roll we wanted to share for dessert :( I will of course be back here, with or without a Groupon!

The service is terrible terrible terrible. We were seated right away but waited nearly 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order or even look at us. Within that time at least 4-5 servers came and cleaned off the table next to us. An empty table received more attention than we did. After we placed our drink orders of water it took another 10 minutes for us to get them. We put in everything at once with our drinks for fear we'd never see our server again, and 15 minutes after we got our drinks we received our appetizer. That was 25 minutes ago and we are still waiting for our entrees that our server told us would be out soon. No one is attentive, I'm not sure if the older gentleman is the manager but all we've seen him do is leave the kitchen, go to the bar, and go back to the kitchen. Our waitress was very apologetic but, really? The food was decent but we'll probably not come back again.

Husband and I used a groupon here the other night. "Meh" was exactly how we felt. We tried the coconut shrimp which was pretty good- and it should have been, considering it took about 20-25 minutes to arrive. I got a chicken/noodle dish which was totally lacking in flavor and extremely salty. Husband had the monsoon chicken and shrimp which he liked but I couldn't eat (too spicy!). Again, took a long time. All in all, it was slow, cold and drafty, and food was just okay. Probably won't return without another coupon.

We ordered Crispy Crab wantons which were lukewarm packets of cream cheese in wanton, eww. They brought us the wrong dish but when they corrected it. The Evil Jungle Princess Beef was excellent. Considering this was our second time going here I think diners should be warned the menu is majorly hit or miss. Read the reviews before you decide on anything.

Service is very slow. Food is just average and portions are small. I used a groupon to eat here. It's way overpriced for the quality food they serve.

Went with two foodies - we had a fabulous waiter! Justin was right on with drink refills, gave us upsell suggestions that we took and were glad we listened to him! Appetizers were crab won tons - 5 stars For the food, 3 stars for the portion size Asian Nachos - 4 stars overall - the hoisin BBQ sauce was a distraction. However the wasabi Guacamole was unexpectedly delightful. The Calamari was crisp, chewy but tender, well seasoned and delicious. 5 stars all the way around for the calamari! MAIN COURSES: F'n Loaded Sliders: the shaved filet mignon was tender and flavorful; the mixed greens we're were a poor pairing, but the bacon was great. Some heat in the ketchup would have been a nice addition. The Mussels, recommended by Justin (our waiter) were amazing and a healthy portion that was satisfying. Again, on Justin's recommendation, the Sesame-Seared Ahi Salad was fabulous and disappeared quickly! The ahi was perfection. For desert, we three split the banana Carmel spring roll with creme fraise, sliced strawberries garnish and it was a light delicious end to our meal. The music was awful because the same loop played over and over. On a happier note, the presentation of each plate was terrific and the contents looked like we should grab our chopsticks and dig in!!!

The decor is lovely and the service was fine - not the long waits that others have complained about. The food however left a bit to be desired. I ordered the miso soup ($3.75) and the shrimp fried rice which both arrived at the same time. The miso was luke warm, which I would assume meant it sat waiting for my entree before delivery. It was tasty, but a small portion for the almost $4 price tag. My rice was excellent until the saltiness and over soy-ness kicked in...it seemed to work up to a full knock out. The husband had the duck sliders which came with garlic parm fries to which he had the same complaint - the duck tasted as if it had been marinating in soy for days. Quite literally - days. Fries on the other hand weren't anything special - a little garlic salt and some of the fake shaker Kraft parm... Between the 2 of us we downed 6 glasses of water during the meal (which didn't have ice btw - odd, right?). The dessert looked good, but I have a feeling I was simply looking for some sweet to combat the salt onslaught. Regardless, we skipped it...and unfortunately probably won't be back unless we need to gain some salty water weight quickly.

I'm surprised so many people have had such poor experiences since I've always been satisfied. I have only come for lunch though, so that may be something. The decor is darkish, like a little haven from the mall. Nice large booths and tables. The waterwall is a nice touch. I have had a few items and have been happy with my choices. Will keep coming until I have a bad experience, I guess.

This was my first time eating here. I chose the jeweled beef and it was a bit of on the salty side, but still also very good. It seemed it a bit understaffed but the waiter I had was quite comical and played along with many of my jokes!

Location is kind of weird. Since it's in the University Mall, the street-side entrance is the "back" entrance of the place, so it feels like you're sneaking in. You wouldn't know where it was, unless you saw the sign over the heavy, ugly door from the parking lot. The place is clean, with some cool, hip decor. They serve you coffee and tea in big ceramic cups on saucers with linen napkins, but your slightly water-damaged menu is also your placemat (which I'm sure they don't rotate out until obviously stained or torn, since the one I had already was wrinkled). It's this weird atmosphere of casual with attempts to be upscale. With the water-fall glass wall and the bizarre quotations painted on the walls, it seems like L&L is making this trendy atmosphere to justify the high prices for their food. Our server, while nice enough, was flippant and distracted. We went at lunch time, but while it wasn't completely, totally slammed, it still seemed like we were lacking in the service department. I think she realized that, though, as later she became a bit more helpful. I was appreciative that she checked up on some ingredients for me, and she found a dish for me that'd fit with my vegetarianism. One of my dining companions make a remark about the place employing young kids since the other times she had been there, the service had been similar. The meal I got was good, but it was very no-frills, no fancy presentation. It was a little expensive for what it was -- $9.95 for lunch-sized portion of Buddha Bowl, where most of it was brown rice versus veg and tofu. It was tasty, but really not worth the price, even for the lunch price. My friends enjoyed their food, too, but I think we were all a little surprised with the cost of everything. I'd maybe go here again, but looking at the prices of their normal-sized/dinner-sized entrees.. I don't really know about that. It's always nice to have an Asian restaurant in town, but there are so many more here in Anchorage that give you better, tastier, bigger portions of food for the price of a chain.

I went there for the 1st time on Friday night and then had to go back on Saturday and again at lunch today (Monday). The food is good in my opinion and I LOVE the Ahi Lettuce Wraps. Unfortunately, the service is so incredibly slow that I am not sure if I will go back. The first time I went my 2 girlfriends and I sat at the bar. We sat there for around 5+ minutes before we were even greeted by one of the three bartenders on shift. The bar was not packed and the restaurant was moderate as far as business goes. We ended up asking one of them if we could get drinks and menus. We would have liked to order more drinks but it was like pulling teeth to get service and we were never asked if we wanted another round. We ordered a few apps and then had to ask if we could order entrees some 20-30 minutes later since they never came to ask us. I did notice that the bartenders also seemed to be bussers of all of their dishes and those were stacking up pretty high. The other two times the servers were very pleasant but it's like the timing is just off as there seems to be no urgency in greeting the table in a timely manner. I went in for lunch and by the time the entrees came we had to ask for boxes because it took so long. **Note to management: enforce some guidelines regarding greeting time, apps and entree times and hire some bussers.**

This place is great for the family or a business lunch!!! cool kids meals, i have tried several dishes and NEVER been disappointed. Service is good. Odd layout as mentioned in other reviews, but i can easily look past that.

From the hostess to the food I'd rate this place mediocre at best. I ordered soup, which was luke warm, but flavorful and calamari that was bland. Even the French fries were bad with an overpowering flavor of Parmesan cheese and saltless. Finally, we had the volcano cake. Unfortunately it was not good either. The cake tasted as though it was a box mix- a cheap one at that. We won't return.

The food was tasty. I had the Wango Mango. Love how this place fuses different flavors together to make cuisine goodness. If that makes any sense. Anywho, I was one of many that took advantage of the Groupon deal currently being offered. When it came time to settle the bill, the waiter had some difficulties closing out. No worries though. I wasn't in a hurry. I just wish they had sweet tea on their beverage menu. Will definitely go back!

My friend and I decided to try some place new so we hit up Ling and Louie's for lunch this past Saturday. I Loved their MONSOON CHICKEN AND SHRIMP w/brown rice. The combination of peanut red curry with mangoes, pineapples, chicken, shrimp and veggies = AMAZING. I think the peanut sauce was a bit watery and it didn't have a consistent thickness to it, but overall, i think it tasted wonderful and i absolutely loved it. I liked how we had the option of choosing between white and brown rice. The interior is very modern and it wasn't too loud either. One thing that I would like to note,is that our server did NOT know what she was talking about. She was Caucasian, but it was really said to hear her say that the restaurant's food was Asian.... and NOT Thai food. When my friend also asked her about wine preferences, she said that "they all tasted the same." Overall, I rate this place a 4- because the food was amazing and the presentation was great.

I think this place is still getting it's feet underneath it as a restaurant. I was pretty disappointed to find out that they still haven't received their liquor license and serve only beer and wine (in regards to adult bevvys anyway). The food was decent but not really impressive. The decor was good enough, but felt kind of empty for such a large space. I will definitely go back to try again as I feel it has potential, but my first impression wasn't that great. I'll update my review next time around, but i'd wait another month or two before checking this place out again.

I have mixed reviews now... I went to dine in a couple weeks ago and the food was absolutely delicious!!! I ordered some of their lunch specials today and was really disappointed... I got the same thing both times and I couldn't believe the difference. Take out lunch was dry and had no flavor... Maybe I will just go for dinner from now on!

We got pad thai takeout. Got a lunch special and got Pad Thai for $10. They tried to make it unique, but instead just made it taste bad. The portions were also tiny. I could have eaten 2, easily. Not fun to pay $10 for lunch that doesn't taste very good and still be hungry afterwards...

Fact: If you've eaten those Tai Pei brand frozen entrees they carry at Fred Meyer, you've basically tried Ling and Louies without having to pay tip and waiting 25 minutes for your order. It's alright--nothing special though. Some of the entrees are so intensely-seasoned to the point where each flavor is so strong they're like pushy street vendors in the hokey tourist trap that is your palate, competing for your attention and nothing is distinguishable anymore. Like trying to decide which bag of Doritos to purchase at 11:00PM(Cool Ranch or Salsa Verde?) and you've had a little too much to drink. And you realize you're actually in the cereal aisle, but who are we kidding -- not like it matters, you booze fiend. I digress. But let's be honest: it's a franchise, so no one realistically has high expectations there. Would it have been better after some moderate to heavy drinking? Maybe. But it's pretty easy to satisfy a drunk, no? It was pretty hilarious though when the waitress assured a patron that the seafood was fresh (sure, lady--and I'm the Queen of England) only to emerge from the kitchen several minutes later to inform them that it was, in fact (no shit, huh?) frozen. EL- OH - EL.

Been coming to Ling and Louies for a few weeks now and every time the food has been spectacular. From the Pad Thai to the F'n Sliders to wango mango chicken. But the reason it drops down to a 2 star when it should probably be a 4 is the service. The bartenders the servers are all very slow, easily distracted and on more than one occasion actually forget to take your order. For example, sat at the bar to eat, ordered a soda and a hot tea, tea took a while to come out. She was very cold and not at all concerned with wanting to take our order. When she did start to take our order, she stopped in the middle of it, ran some food, then actually greeted and started taking someone else's order, and then to boot cones back to us and goes, that's all you wanted right. Note here, I hadn't even ordered my food yet. So, great food hoooooooooorrrrrrrrriiiiiibbbbbblllllleeeeeeeee service on a regular basis which will eventually really start to hurt them as the new restaurant smell wears off.

I read the bad reviews and can't figure out where they ate. We had an excellent meal. The wait was short, service was great, and the food was excellent. The location is kinda strange.

I get dragged here every couple of months by coworkers and I've eaten here a dozen or so times. The service is without a doubt, some of the worst in Anchorage -- slow and inattentive. Lunch is particularly slow, which is amazing because restaurants typically strive to get 3-4 seatings. I've had lunch here last nearly 2 hours. The food is OK. It's not bad, but certainly no 'wow' factor -- just basic, simple fare. One time our table was served lukewarm food across the board and another time the meat (supposedly filet mignon) was off. I don't know what it was but it certainly wasn't filet. Like I said, it's OK. A bit over-priced for what you get but if the service was better it wouldn't be a bed place to eat.

I have never met a more stuck up, rude waitstaff than my first visit to Ling and Louie's. Hostess clearly was not interested in seating us. We blatantly said this aloud and she didn't disagree. Sat at the bar, I was talking to the waitress/bartender and she walked off when I was in mid-sentence. At this point we left, none of the staff acknowledged us leaving or said anything whatsoever. I have never felt like a piece of trash like this in a place none of the staff wanted us to be in. The first thing said to us when we sat down was "I don't wanna be here!" no greeting, no chit chat or friendly small talk, just the ladies expression of disgust for her job and how servings was a big problem. I have never experienced such a tense atmosphere. This place was truly stressful to go in. I wanted to leave the second the hostess faked a smile at us. I will never come here again. Btw, I was planning in tasting everything and buying out the bar.

Atmosphere means a lot to me. We were seated (at dinner) at a table which looked directly out into the mall walkway. I cannot believe they don't have blinds or something to cover the windows. Food good.

Taste like camel toes. Pretty pricy too. Look out for this one server, pretty, but the worst server without knowing it. The place looks pretty sweet and modern. That's all the place has, looks. Tastes like turtle ears.

Highly recommend the spicy on the Temporel roll. It was so good in fact we had to have a second one. We appreciate the military discount, that's a great way to honor those who serve, and it's really appreciated. They were very accommodating when we substituted salmon for chicken in one of the dishes. We'll be back!

3 Stars. Yes. But that's three high stars really. A 3 instead if 4 or something because there are better restaurants but then again you can't really compare apples to oranges. So just read this and that should tell you what you need. I don't really have anything bad to say. The servers were really polite and friendly which was great. I went to a group dinner and there we probably around 17 of us. Maybe more. They handled it really well and despite all the orders the food really didn't talk that long to come to us. I ordered the KUNG POW CHICKEN. I love Kung Pow so I was interested to see how it turned out. It was marked as one of the hotter dishes on the menu. When I got it it looked great and smelled amazing. Eating was a pleasure. It was delicious! I've read others say that their dishes were bland in the other reviews but mine wasn't at all. The portions are a good size. Me. Being a big eat though was still a bit hungry. So. Next time I'll order and appetizer! Great experience! Definitely come back.

Food is good but the service gets progressively worse each time we go. There are a bunch of young servers who clearly have not been trained. The management really needs to address this problem. Not going back anytime soon.

I thought the calamari was really good- not too heavily battered and the sauces they drizzled on weren't too heavy or too much. I also had the drunken chicken and it was quite spicy- 'make your nose run' spicy, but not so bad that a glass of milk didn't curb it. Really nice flavor to the dish as well. The prices were good and the service (I had the calamari at the bar and got my main meal to go) was friendly and attentive. Definitely a winner for good American Asian food, especially with the other options offered in Anchorage.

The word "BORING" best describes this restaurant. The atmosphere is very "theme oriented" but the theme is stupid quotes against blank walls. It's quiet enough to hear your neighboring tables' conversations. The staff is friendly and service is pretty good. But ultimately the food is just OK. Nothing wrong with it, but also nothing particularly right with it either. But they still charge $13-17 per entree. Next time I want Asian food I'll go to a locally owned place where their worst measures up to Ling and Louie's best.

Under cooked shrimp, but the service was good. Nice interior and good size lunch crowd. Food is OK, not great.

The decor is OK, the only thing I really enjoyed was the waterfall. The service was rather awful. I even had to track down the waitress just to pay my bill. The prices were ridiculous for the amount of food and what it was. $4 for miso soup that was not in anyway miso soup, Vinegar water comes to mind to describe it. The entrees are mostly 16.25 and it's a joke for the food. I ordered the Mongolian beef which they do with a fillet mignon while the meat was pretty good it shouldn't be called Mongolian beef and it just wasn't that great. Certainly not for the 16.25 price.

My family has been there four times, and the service has progressively slid downhill. It took forever for our lunches to arrive. While I ordered the entree sized plate of Wango Mango Shrimp, I received barely a scoop of rice and seven or eight shrimp and mangos. It was extremely disappointing. My husband and I both commented that we felt like we were annoying our waitress by being there. Never going back.

This place has, quite possibly, the worst Asian food we've ever had. For some reason, the breaded chicken was white on the outside instead of a nice golden brown. I can only speculate that it had been fried somewhere else, then frozen, and then reheated for the Orange Peel Chicken plate and Popcorn Chicken Bento box. It was chewy and dry. On top of it, when the Orange Peel Chicken had been "wok'd," they burned it. I had the Black Orchid Ahi Tuna, it wasn't bad. (But how hard is it to make a raw fish plate with coleslaw?) Each serving came with a healthy dose of waitress--ours was wearing enough perfume that I could taste it with our meal. They were out of tea. They were out of chocolate sauce. All of this and a healthy price tag to boot. The only positive experience was the atmosphere; it was very well decorated. WIll we go back? Nay, I say. Not in a million years.

The Loaded Nachos and Crab Wontons are to die for! We also had the surf and turf (filet mignon and shrimp with mushrooms, onions, and asparagus that comes out on a hot, fajita-like tray), mongolian beef (again using filet - no skimping on meat cuts here!), and coconut shrimp. The service was great and I will be back many times again.

Been here 2 times, middle of the day. Stopped in for a little snack, a glass of Merlot and some crispy crab wontons. Service was good, wine selection was decent.. and lets just say the staff was entertaining to watch.. Second time I stopped in with a friend and had lunch. We were both happy with our entrees, we both had the specials of the day. We were happy with it, plates looked good, my fusion american-asian selection was good, not overcooked, seasoning and heat was good. It was hot and sent out quickly. Decor was nice, it was dim but not so much that is took away from my dining experience, the water feature was a bit distracting.. Overall it was great, no flaws, no staff errors. But it does fail to excite me as far as innovative asian-american fusion.. The impression im walking away is asian food further tweaked to american palates. I think its worth another trip if I ever get a craving for a "happy ending".

We tried this place on our last trip into Anchorage. We stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar since there was a wait for tables. The waitress/bartender was really nice and very helpful with the menu. I had Kung Pow Beef over short grained brown rice and my boss had the meatloaf. Both meals were "fine". At $9.95 the price was pretty good but nothing really memorable. The wasabi mashed potatoes are really just mashed potatoes with wasabi sour cream and the meat loaf was regular meatloaf. My stir fry had some nice tender steak in it, which does take it up a notch from what I would get at most Korean places I eat. It was a nice dieters sized portion, but I was hungry again in two hours. All in all it was fine, I just know we can get better elsewhere and probably won't bother to go in again.

Wow, I was pretty surprised to see the ratings listed here as both of my trips to Ling and Louie's have been great! Our first trip we sat in the dining area and received prompt friendly service and an enthusiastic introduction to the menu....how can you not discuss F'n Sliders and have fun with that?!? I am thoroughly addicted to the lime drinks and despite my best efforts I couldn't empty the glass before a refill was waiting, don't worry they are non-alcoholic so these are completely sober reflections :) The food was refreshingly unique and not the standard ho-hum Chinese food you can get at a hundred other places in town. This is not an egg drop soup, egg roll, chow mein, and fortune cookie experience and like Ling and Louie's sliders, I think that's F'n great! Sitting at the bar was also an enjoyable experience. Friendly, knowledgable and prompt service even with a packed bar, packed dining area and a large party making ample use of the bar. Some comments have been made about the chicken being different and not of the 'golden brown' cookie-cutter variety and that is because they use a unique corn starch based batter, almost tempura like, which I found to be crisp and tasty versus the usual greasy mush drowning in ectoplasm you may be accustomed to. My advice is do yourself a favor, abandon your fortune cookie ways and go to Ling and Louie's...it's F'n great!
