Just a mile off 77 at exit 114. I had the BBQ sandwich with potato wedges. The daily special for only $5.00 with a drink! Too full to get dessert but had several pie options.

We stopped here on the way back to Ohio from visiting the Greenbrier. Certainly a 180 from the Greenbrier glamor, but Topspot is a comforting break from the road. It's right off 77, so even though you can't see it from the exit, it's not a lengthy detour. We had fun looking at the hilarious ads on the placemat. A local attorney duo, for instance, listed "divorve" as one of their listed services. Small town WV for ya. The menu is more extensive than one might originally imagine for such a small joint. I had the open roast beef sandwich. It was smothered in gravy which I didn't mind, but.. man, REALLY smothered. With a big menu can come some problems. As we enjoyed our meal, more and more items kept being added to the "sorry we're out of ____" list kept on a board near by. One of these items was "eatting slaw" [sic]. Apparently they were out of the kind of slaw you eat as a side, but not the slaw that comes as a sandwich topping. I guess you can't eat the slaw that comes on a sandwhich? I guess we were just kind of slap-happy from our road trip, but pretty much everything about Topstop was hilarious and quaint. Anyway, hilarity aside, this was a great little stop, and better than just another McDonald's drive-thru. Topspot is full of earnest, hardworking people with roadside comfort food. Bonus: apparently George W. Bush ordered food from here... TWICE! A-OK, and worth a visit if you're in the area.

Great place to stop on I-77. I got the daily special to avoid problems like Catherine J. mentioned in her review (they have a big menu, so sometimes they may not have everything they list). Chicken liver with onions! It was very yummy! The liver was battered and friend, cruchy and tasty. The side was mashed potatos and sweet peas (or was green beans?), both very good and light. For dessert I had the coconut pie that tasted like something from my childhood. Loved everything.

Great spot to stop for food when you don't want a chain restaurant. It's small town dining and the food is pretty good. The portions aren't huge but are filling. My son inhaled the chicken and dumplings and I thought the bbq was not bad...A little sweet. However the peanut butter pie was amazing...wow. you feel like you get a flavor of the town...it hails mostly locals. We didn't have a problem with the restaurant being out of items.

The restaurant itself is old, tired and dated. However they do have some decent home cooking. The chili was very good. The fried chicken was excellent. The "famous" meatloaf was below average. The coffee was very good. Decent prices, and good service. Restrooms were clean.
