Divey. Real divey. Real, real divey. And honest... Art's is a time capsule in an area that's replete with the "next newest/hottest/most-touted thing." If you like dive bars, this place will be your jam. "... but don't take MY word for it!" -Levar Burton ... they have this giant parking lot but if you're going to do this right you probably shouldn't be driving.

Hey now, I found a new dive! Stopped in here after a long day moving my girlfriend's ridiculous paraphernalia from her old apartment to ye olde storage unit. Moving makes me cranky, and this watering hole was in my sights when we started working, so after we were done we went inside for a beer. We were greeted by the jovial, rotund owner who was funny and personable from the get-go. It was happy hour, so we enjoyed some snacks including some very respectable bar wings. I'd check it out if you're in the neighborhood. It's a little hard to see if you're not looking for it, but worth the effort if you can spot it from the road. Like I said, it's a dive, so don't go expecting The Ritz.

First visited last week... Will DEFINITELY be back. Came for pizza, found out it's FREE from 7-11 on Wednesday nights!!! Cute back room, super friendly staff, nonjudgmental patrons (sometimes these dive bars have locals that turn their nose up at "strangers"), decently priced and oh by the way... That pizza is AMAZING! I can't wait to come back and try more food! What a great discovery!

I first visited Just Art's Saloon (there is no 3 in the name Mr./Ms. Editor) around 17 or 18 years ago. A buddy of mine took me there to meet up with his friend who tended bar there. The bar had a cool, divey vibe and Art was a colorful character adding to the good times. Fast forward to current day...I have a few other friends that have become regulars and they hosted a private Packers Game Party (you can host one too, just ask). Art looks the same way he did 18 years ago and he is still a character, telling jokes, flirting with the pretty ladies and throwing in a little sarcasm every now and then. In fact, he may start you out with the sarcasm or a "smart" comment to test your character and see if he'll like you. If he does, then you get to hear his jokes and trivia. He is a sharp guy and dropped some literary and historic knowledge on a recent visit. There is an outdoor deck for smokers that has a full bar and TV for use in the summer (actually the TV is always on). There is also a back room that would work well for parties. Art's also serves food so you can hang out for a while and not have to leave your bar stool if you're hungry. Shame on me for letting so many years pass between visits. I'll have to fix that.

Classic old school Wisconsin dive. Art is a gem. Come in, chat with the crew behind the bar, shoot some dice and have yourself a great time.

So close to the Third Ward geographically, but so far away by every other measure. I love that there is a place like Just Art's a short walk over the bridge and under the tracks. I hope it never changes.

The ORIGINAL rock-and-roll, blue-collar, down-to-earth, down-on-your-luck, classic Milwaukee dive bar. And, sadly, the last of its kind in the Fifth Ward, an area formerly populated by nothing BUT nickel-a-beer taverns and rundown roadhouses. I have nothing but the highest respect in the world for a bar that keeps it THIS honest, this real and THIS cheap, at a time when this Tenderloin neighborhood is rapidly morphing into the new Hell's Kitchen. Many people know this place as a drinking destination with one of the most original and unusual patios in town, but their food menu is actually very impressive. I have relied on Art and his girls to toss me many a life-saving, homemade, hand-topped pizza in the past few years. Impossibly good and almost impossible to stop eating. But it's not just pizza and dice, it's everything from fish fries to pig roasts, from spaghetti dinners to stroganoff. And I'm told -- although I (shamefully) have never been -- that the fish fries are incredible. But the most incredible thing is that Art himself has kept this place up and running through 30+ years of Fifth Ward abandon, rediscovery and redevelopment. The bar is the last survivor of a row of early 20th century shacks that lined Second Street -- and losing it for big-box, big-window development would be a travesty. Check out Art's SOON. Before someone buys it, reinvents it, levels it, or "immortalizes" it. I guarantee that your Happy Hour visit might just last until bar time or later.

Art is a dumb piece of shit. Hit a girl last night over some pulled pork. I am never going back. He only gets one star because I can't choose zero.

Discovering Just Arts this past weekend was like uncovering a buried treasure. Just Arts is a neighborhood gem situated in an area that has undergone dramatic change throughout the years from an industrial corridor to chic lofts and restaurants. Just Arts has remained the same since its creation 29 years ago. The bar itself is the perfect neighborhood tavern with a long bar out near the entrance, a back bar with a vintage foosball table, and a patio. Just Arts has some great weekly food specials and excellent brews on tap. The people are what really makes Just Arts so special. Art himself is a white bearded guy whose look evokes Ernst Hemingway. Art is a wonderful guy to talk to. It's obvious how much his staff and patrons love him when they happily greet him or play a game of dice with him. The bartenders are super nice as well. There's no snobby attitudes here, just excellent service. Just Arts is such a great neighborhood bar. It's one of those bars that you step into a little bit back in time with its decor, but in the present time with its young staff and clientele who keep Art young. Just Arts is my new favorite bar in Milwaukee. There's nothing like an old school, laid back bar to drink some brews and play some dice at.

This place is my new favorite dive bar. I'm a huge Walker's Point fan having faith in it since I bought my house there in 2005. So coming to town and having friends suggest we go to Arts was fantastic. Let me start off by saying they have a parking lot so already off to a good start. The weather couldn't have been any better and the outside bar was perfect for some pitchers of beer. My best friend kept raving about the fries here (for real she said they are "the best fries ever" numerous times) and it turned out the fryer was done for the night, but we could still order a pizza. I was thinking dive bar pizza- you know the Tombstone in the pizza toaster- not the case at all! This pizza was huge and amazing! So come thirsty & hungry because Art's will take care of you. PS: Like a true dive bar the bartender was giving me shit like he would his long term friends. I later learned this is Art himself. Well thank you Art because real personalities are rare here in L.A. where I currently live. Milwaukee has my heart and it's places like this that are exactly why.

On Wed you get good FREE pizza from 7 to 11! On Thurs pretty good Wings for .30 cents a piece! Where else can you get Tater Tots with your Friday fish Fry! Love this place! Gonna miss it when it's gone!

Such a dive IN A GOOD WAY!! this is a hole in the wall worth checking out. They always have a bunch of FREE FOOD: chili, brats, mac n cheese, etc. The owner Art is very quirky and friendly (but he seems to prefer female patrons over males) he'll play bar dice with you for shots & loves to give away free swag (t-shirts, bottle openers, coozies) I wouldn't use the bathrooms here tho lol

Food is great, awesome beer selection and great prices. Ambiance ... Not really great... Or does that make it great? I always have fun and Kelly is the best bartender! Other great qualities include old school fuze ball table, patio during the summer and good regulars willing to tell good stories.

Descriptive phrase: the definition of dive-bar. I love Just Art's. I've only been there once so far and I already know I will be back many times. It's a tiny little shack seemingly plopped in the middle of abandoned industry in Walker's Point. I came in last Friday night with a group of friends. There were a couple of older locals sitting at the bar, a 20-something bartending girl with tattoos up and down, and a white-maned man of a man dressed in plaid playing dice. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Art. If only I had brought a tape recorder to keep track of everything Art said to us. Upon walking through the door for the first time, he was already cracking wise to us and giving us a hard time, but with a tone that you could tell it was all in fun. It's a small place inside, dingy but not gross. We headed to the back area where there was a little more seating, a video game, a dart board, and The Foosball. This foosball table is like no other; it's from the fifties, it survived a fire, it was made in Germany, and it's free. We were hooked. We also ordered the fish fry ($9). It came out very fast, three respectable pieces of fried fish (decent) with choice of potatoes (tater tots were very good). The food was much better than I first expected from this place, but certainly nothing to come for specifically. We found out later that Art's has food specials all the time, being pumped out of his little kitchen behind the bar constantly (free pizzas anyone?). Out back there is a great porch area with another bar and TVs. Art says he has live music sometimes. After we were done with dinner, Art came back and talked to us for probably 30 minutes about an extreme range of topics. He's got an opinion on just about everything, and his knowledge of random facts is extensive. All throughout this he was keeping up a game of dice with a couple up at the bar. Before we left Art invited us to his birthday party. Just Art's is something else. It's unpretentious and used, but loved and unique all at the same time. It's all held together by Art himself, who breathes life and good times into everyone who walks through the door. Is it chic? No. Is it particularly clean? No. Will you leave in a better mood than when you came in? To be sure. Five stars for defining the term "dive-bar."
