We stopped in this town for directions and decided to grab some lunch. This happened to be the only place open so we stopped on in for a drink and lunch. Glad we did. I ordered the smoked duck which was absolutely amazing! Fresh mashed potatoes with fresh vegetable corn medley... My boyfriend ordered a tastey gnocchi dish that was also a big hit. To start.. We were brought fresh warm bread accompanied with a baked dish of goat cheese in olive oil infused with fresh cooked garlic and herbs..... BEST ever! I am not much of a bread person but I could sit and eat this all day. We sincerely enjoyed our visit and will be back. We live in FT Lauderdale FL and can say this restaurant is on the top of our ALL time favorite restaurant list...we eat at a lot of places while on our travels in and ouside Florida. The town was very quaint and the ambiance while eating was perfect. The service was perfect ...both timely and friendly with a smile. Thank you for a great experience. We will be back.

Yumm yumm yumm !!! We were expecting mediocre Italian. .but were so happily surprised !!! Goaty cheese appetizer- so good I almost licked the plate. Then...Coconut Chicken curry soup. A little small ..actually. served in a tea cup. But really good. Then came the entrée s Chicken Marsala with dreamy sauce and perfectly cooked creminy and portobello mushrooms. Chicken Parmesan. .. very tomato sauciness... delicious. Served with more bread drenched in olive oil and Italian spices. .. a side dish of butternut squash was a. Surprise delight. All was so good that I was almost disappointed because I didn't come hungry enough. !!! Ordered tiramisu to go... hopefully it's as yummy. Overall the best food !! Only downer was they were out of alot of things. .. but what we ordered made up for it!!!!! Just come here. ...

Food is exquisite! We always get the fried green olives, the gnocchi, and tiramisu....so good I dream about it! You really can't go wrong with anything you order. My husband and I have always been blown away with everything we've tried.

The service was grueling even though there were only two other people eating dinner when we got there, it was smoky from something cooking or burning, slow service, mediocre food, inexcusably bad customer service, was afraid something was going to fall in our food from a ceiling in disrepair. The waitress didn't keep us posted, there's a step into the dining area that could cause someone to fall. I did see someone trip later as the place filled up. We waited a long time for everything but drinks. The appetizer, trout cakes, was too dense, hard and dry, although the flavored mayo on top helped and they were edible. Both the pablano corn and Italian Wedding soups went over well, I had the side salad, which was fine. However, a companion had to send back his salad because the lettuce was wilted. His second salad still had wilted lettuce. The entrees came with asparagus, done simply and well, and toasted bread which I didn't taste, but everyone seemed to enjoy. My cousin's entree (pasta with roasted tomatoes?) was so hot and spicy, he couldn't eat it. After surprisingly defensive attitudes from two waitresses about fixing the problem, he gave up, ate some bread & called it a day. I think it made him lose his appetite. We were a group of four with a long history of restaurant ownership and catering, so to us, a waiter who wouldn't take back the dish, replace it or apologize and say it was of course free of charge, critically tainted the experience. The other entrees were a mushroom & seared scallop risotto, shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, and smoked duck with mashed potatoes and grapes in a bourbon maple sauce. No one raved about their meal, and one of us was inexplicably denied the common practice of taking back a dish. I did enjoy the mashed potatoes and bourbon sauce, wasn't sure about the rare smoked duck, had never had it that way, so can't really comment, and noticed people taking out pizza, which was not on the menu. Wish we had all ordered pizza even though the menu was intriguing. Few pasta dishes, nothing like spaghetti and seafood or meatballs, although an upscale menu, still a little surprising. The group felt we got particularly shabby service because we were out of towners. We wanted to find a gem, but the shoddy paintings on the ceiling well reflected the shoddy service and unwillingness to please the customer, or at least us. By the time our ordeal was over, no one wanted to try the homemade cannoli, tiramisu or spumoni. Note: they had some kind of beiramisu I would have normally tried, but we were glad to be out of there.

What a lovely place! My partner and I spent a night at the Audubon and decided to check out Marsibilio's for dinner. The food was great! The breaded blue cheese stuffed olives were absolutely incredible! My partner is a vegetarian, and while there aren't as many vegetarian options on the menu, our server was very accommodating, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed at all times! The wine and beer list was great as well! Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

A very enjoyable small Italian restaurant. The staff were very helpful given it was full and hopping for a winter Saturday night. Great appetizer that was very Italian. Then a great pizza with very fresh and quality ingredients. Nice place

This is really an addendum to an earlier review I wrote. I noticed that one reviewer gave Marsibilio's one star. Of course you may have noticed that everyone else has given it four or five. I also noted that Dennis K. Had only been there once. So knowing how a bad review of an otherwise good restaurant can adversely impact business, I wrote directly to Dennis suggesting that, given the fact that we have eaten there often, he should give it another try. I explained that service had always been very good, and the food was always good and improving. He was nice enough to respond, but unfortunately told me he had no interest in giving this fine establishment another try. While he may have hit a bad night, the fact that he wouldn't consider going again suggests he really may not be interested in good food and service. It also tells me his review should be ignored.

This is an update to my last review of this place and an answer to Bob G. My first review of this restaurant is a true picture of our meal that night. Yes I understand any place can have a bad night and I have given places second chances. My issue is less with the meal but more with the lack of any attention from the management. A really good business takes a bad experience and turns it into a chance to have a long time customer. First the indifference of the waitress when she was told of the bad meal she did nothing and told no one. We waited at the table for awhile to see if the waitress would tell someone or the manager would take notice no one did. The owner takes time to answer good reviews but ignores a bad one. If the owner would have addressed the issue here just by saying sorry and invited me back in I would have made the trip back. The management/owner should take a lesson from Bob G he cared about my situation, invited me back in and assured me this is not normal. The problem is Bob G is a customer and not the restaurant owner/manager.

We went to Marsibilio's last night for our anniversary dinner. It was absolutely fantastic. I had the Fruta del Mar which is misc. seafood and fresh, homemade pasta. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the seafood, esp. the scallops which I love, were delicious. I told my wife that I could have eaten a second plateful it was so good! (it was substantial...not trying to say it was a meager portion). Nice botella of vino and very pleasant atmosphere. Simply wonderful. Frankly, it's worth driving up from Milwaukee to go to this place! Am definitely a fan, and will definitely go back the first chance I get!

Impressive food. Excellent service. Fresh and very reasonably priced for the outstanding quality you are getting. Fresh homemade pastas! Excellent tiramisu (heavenly espresso soaked lady fingers, bittersweet cocoa powder and smooth mascarpone) and you have to try the Italian chips & salsa. We had the Chicken Marsala (mushrooms and chicken with homemade linguine covered in a buttery, slightly sweet, sauce...very balanced) and Gnocchi with Sausage & Artichokes (little pillowy dumplings from heaven with yummy sausage in the creamiest garlic sauce). Oh, my. This restaurant is destined to be a new favorite.

Excellent atmosphere and pasta! We were pleasantly surprised when we choose this as one of only a couple of restaurants in the charming downtown area. This place would not be out of place in Lincoln Park, Andersonville, or any of the trendy neighborhoods in Chicago. Both dinners were inspired, flavorful and featured homemade pasta. Actually returned for a second night for the pizza, which wasn't bad, but I would definitely stuck to the entrees.

Had dinner here last night. Food was Ok, service was really slow. They were out of pepperoni out of ravioli and out of bread..

My wife and I frequent this lovely Italian Eatery. One of our favorite dishes has to be the Spinach and Artichoke Gnocchi. We haven't had one of their pizzas in a while, but we see plenty of them flying out the door while we are there. Pros: Great food, great service, good food selection. Cons: The small dinner salads that accompany the meals could be served on a bigger plate. Some days it feels like we are eating in the dark, so better lighting at the tables would be beneficial.

Very disappointed. First group in and last to get food. Discrimination was clear. A little high priced for that service, but good food.

Great food. I'd recommend the Chicken Fajita Sandwich. I know it isn't an Italian entree, but its amazing! For dinner go with the Frutti di Mare for an Italian seafood explosion! Done to perfection. The owners and staff are really friendly. After dinner you might want to try their homemade Limoncello. Magnifique!

Cute restaurant in little Mayville. We stopped by on our way up north. All the pasta are made in house and they try to source everything locally to support local businesses. There are not too many seating so reserve ahead if you can. If not there are some seats by the bar and 2 booths. Some outdoor seating are also available in the summer.

Vegan friendly This place is rad. As a vegan, i called shortly before closed and they helped customize a pizza and some sticks to be vegan and delicious. They knew all about vegan and what oils and dressings had what. They even helped with the cost since I got no cheese on the pizza. If you are anywhere near this place it is a must go. Cant wait to go back, its sad I only was passing by.

Wow. My sister and I were staying at the Audubon Inn before a day of bird watching and the restaurant there was closed for remodeling. We needed dinner and they recommended Marsibilio's Trattoria. Walking in, I'll be honest I was a bit worried. The decor was cute, but a bit cheesy. Plus, it was an Italian restaurant in small town Wisconsin. Eek. We ordered an app and a couple of dinners. Everything was amazing! A lot of the ingredients were sourced locally and you could tell by all of the fresh flavors. The portions were also perfect. Not huge, but perfectly filling. I can't wait to head back!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
