The Appetizer is good and it has a flame in the middle ... I am not sure if we are suppossed to heat up the food in the middle or its just for decoration... The food have good portion, sweet and sour pork is good, general tsos is good too and so as the fried rice and topu with batchoy, the egg flour soup is good too. It was a good experience. I would probably come back if we are in the area again.

    It was better than Safeway...

I went here the night of Christmas Eve, and it was a little packed, but that was okay. So, where to begin. The food was great, and they also had some great vegetarian lasagna. I was at the bar, and I had asked for some apple cider, and the lady poured me some Hennesey instead, I was like, What are you doing? For some reason, the feeling of me being in there for such a long time make me feel a little sick, the area is small, the layout is a bit confusing, but the bathrooms are clean and trust me, the kitchen is clean! I've been in there. Also, the boss' wife's hair scares me a bit oO Massive volume and her roots totally visible, made me want to run a bit

It sounds like folks who enjoy this place go for Happy Hour and Karaoke. Unfortunately we just went for dinner on a weeknight and were not impressed. We went on the recommendation of a co-worker who said this was a regular restaurant for his family. Maybe this set my expectations high. The ambiance is good - what you would expect for an Americanized Chinese restaurant. The service was fairly good....food arrived in at an odd pace, but our water was always full, and service was otherwise prompt. It was the food and the food quantity that I was less than impressed with. We ordered one of the family combo meals for two and found the dishes to be quite greasy, lacking meat (in dishes that should have a decent portion of meat), and overall small portions. While we have never been overly impressed with Fortune Cookie Chinese restaurant that is closer to our home, we would go back there in the future over Chan's for better food quality and a much better value. (Chans was 40 for 2 people and no leftovers) My co-worker named a few stand alone dishes that his family always gets, so maybe the Family meals are a bad way to go. I doubt we will go back to find out.

Had the beef tomato chow mein. The beef was melt in your mouth, so tender. Also had the chicken chow foon. Again, the chicken was melt in your mouth. Food was fabulous! The best chow fun on the eastside, lots of "wok-hay".

This place is OK . . . thats it - "OK" Been going there off and on for . . .oh . . . about 14 years now. In years past, it was a LOT better but, it is a consistent place anyway - food always the same, service always the same (both good - NOT great but good). Good food, good service and I have NEVER had a bad experience there (food or otherwise) Food quality has always been good - as far as value? Not bad there either - always have take home leftovers for the midnight snack overall - would recommend . . .might even go there tonight now that I think of it

Since moving to Gold Bar, I've tried the Chinese restaurants in Monroe and didn't love any of them. Since finding Chan's Place in nearby Woodinville, it's become a regular stop for us. We oftentimes go with friends and for the 4 of us, we order the Dr. Green dinner for 3 plus the sesame chicken. We're all very well fed and have leftovers. The staff is attentive but not in your face, the food is made with high quality ingredients and evening on a busy evening you don't wait long for your dinner.

This place isn't too special, but it's a great place to go with friends and get some food. i've been here multiple times, and the service wasn't as fast as I would like. I've waited for a table for 15-30 minutes, and I personally think that's a little too long. I'd expect 15 minutes at the most. The food was the standard americanized chinese food, it had good taste, and was pretty filling. The prices were a little high for what they offer, though. I'd appreciate it if they'd increase the portions, or lower the price. Overall, if you have a couple friends coming in, take them here, but if it's more a personal thing, I'd stay away. Also, if you're looking for cheap, it's not terrible, but there are better places.

Always consistently good quality with traditional cantonese favs like almond fried chicken, pork fried rice and the BBQ pork was soft and juicy ~ YUM! , Still, miss traditional chow mein, as they have caved to the soy/ginger noodle version. Good service. Ambiance is stuck in the '80's but hey, some of my favorite music is too (LOL). Go, but splurge (fried!!) for the fun of it!

Next time I will just microwave and eat the two year old frozen dinner I unearthed in the bottom of my freezer instead of ordering take out from this place. I can sum this place up fairly straightforward, Chinese food meets the "We Deep-Fat Fry Everything Booth" at the State Fair. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and it was coated in some form of bloated batter that was tremendously oily. I ended up pulling off the oleaginous batter and pushing myself to consume the tasteless mouthfuls of pork. You are undoubtedly asking yourself why I did not plunge the pieces of pork in the sweet and sour sauce to make the incident less ghastly. Well, the restaurant forgot to pack the sweet and sour sauce for me!!! The Hot and Sour soup was not delicious at all, plus the texture was gelatinous and gooey. Whatever starch they thicken it with was not pleasant. The pork fried rice was less than palatable given that the fragments of bbq pork tasted very old. I was quite disenchanted in this place!!!

This is really a rather large restaurant for a Chinese one. Don't know of another this large except China Harbor in Seattle, which I don't recommend. The place seems a little outdated- think 90s. The food though is excellent. They've not disappointed me and you get a lot for what you pay for! I recommend it.

I hate to say it (no I don't), I eat here more than any other restaurant! It is in Woodinville however not Bothell as the address says. The food is always delicious, and service is always great. Go there a couple of times and they remember what you like. The lunch menu is extensive, a great value and lasts until 4pm! I love the Brocolli Beef and Almond Chicken, but you can't go wrong with anything you order here. Yum!

I have eaten her twice. Both times reluctantly because my impression is that it doesn't seem like the place you would good authentic Chinese food. Both times I have to say I was pleasantry surprised to enjoy the meal. The service has been good, last night our server was extremely pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately my bf's meal came a good 10 minutes after mine and we had ordered dishes that other dislikes so we were not sharing. I tried to nibble though extremely hungry while we waited for his dish (some special w/ meatball with cabbage). She kept coming back and apologizing and it was nice to know we were not forgotten. Sorry I cannot remember names of the dishes, I ordered some seafood stew with prawns, scallops and veggies, apparently it also had deep fried tofu although I don't recall that being listed on the description. Not that I don't love it but trying to stay away from fried stuff I may not have ordered that had I realized it. It was in a ceramic "wok" that was lined with lettuce. It was quite good, the big mushrooms as well as the prawns were fantastic. They do have a bar, and there was a large, very loud crowd of young people, possibly a graduation party. We were seated right next to the bar and I found the noise quite annoying at times. The bathroom seemed very clean and recently redone. The restaurant itself is in dire need of remodel, there is a great deal of very tacky pink in my opinion but very clean. FYI, on the last 2 KC Health Dept inspections they did very well, prior to that not so good.

Not the best chinese restaurant by far compared to what's available in Seattle but okay if you're stuck in Woodinville area. You have 2 or 3 Chinese joints to choose from and to put it mildly this place sucks the least.... The service here is a bit "cheap". For example whenever I do a take out I usually tip 20% for boxing up my order. I expect a plastic fork or chopstick and maybe a napkin or two... But you guessed it they're too cheap to give you napkins or forks. They also seem to conveniently forget to bundle the right sauces for the dish when you do a take out. So double check what's in the bag before leaving this joint. (e.g. If you order a Moshoo Dish make sure the Hoisin Sauce is there.) So if you do a take out and you feel compelled to tip.. You may want to think about it twice.

Great happy hour! Good place to watch a game or de-stress after work. The small plates are very good.

Very Americanized Chinese Food, and pricey for that. 'nuff said.

  • Dan S.

I enjoy Chan's a lot, but I feel their food is maybe not quite as good as it used to be. It's the standard stuff you expect to find, everything is tasty (I particularly like their fried rice), and service is always good. Unlike a lot of Chinese joints the place looks nice and is kept up well. Pretty good size too, and has can handle larger groups (8 or 10 people) pretty easily.

  • Libbie K.

If you like a river of cornstarch on your plate, you will love it. I do have to be honest and say that i have never had such hot and fresh food , unfortunately it was kind of gross looking... :-( we've been there on the weekend once, and i think they have a pretty good karaoke scene, if ur into that sort of thing.... overall.....i doubt you'd see any Chinese ppl actually eating there, it is strictly "American" Chinese food.

Excellent service and good food. We stopped by on Mother's Day and there was a wait, so we sat down in the bar for immediate gratification. Even though it was busy, service in the bar was fast. Happy Hour is daily 4-7pm, and 4-close on Sunday. They offered half-price appetizers, $3 wells, $3 domestics, & $4.75 for house wine. The rum and coke was mixed well (not watered down). I would not recommend the egg rolls, but the Hot & Sour soup was delicious and the Kung Pao Tofu was very good! We will return for more happy hour happiness!

  • Daniel J.

I generally do take-out from here, but on the few times I've eaten in, the service has been good. The happy hour food in the bar is decent, but a bit too much fried food for my liking. My standard order is the singapore noodles, and house special fried rice.

  • T K.

For Americanized Chinese food, this place is one of the better ones on the Eastside. The egg foo young is very good, rivaling South China. The flavors are decent and the service has always been very good. The only dish that I don't especially like is the chow mein. The noodles are too fat and soft for my liking. When we are in the mood for westernized Chinese that is not too far from home, we go to Chan's Place.

Decent and clean. People are friendly and great for lunch. Tried dinner but small portions drove me away. Remind me of magic dragon.

  • AvidHiker C.

Not the cheapest Chinese food, and they kind of rush you a bit if you sit down for a meal. The food is consistent and very good. The soups are all good especially hot and sour and wonton. The egg rolls are more like thin, vegetarian fried spring rolls and are excellent. The almond chicken is different than what ive had elsewhere and is outstanding- tender and perfectly cooked and seasoned in a flavorful batter and a rich gravy. The dr. Green family style dinner is a nice sampling of the menu and a favorite when I order take out. Sometimes coupons for chans arrive in mailers with the newspaper.

  • Ashley J.

VERY BAD! Bad food, over cooked, no flavor. Bad service, asked for chop-sticks and never received them. Honestly, its a crime to be forced to eat Chinese food with a fork. At the end of the meal they used our credit card to pay for someone elses meal and then used it again to pay for our meal so we were double charged!!! Just a really horrible place. Very disappointing! I am not even sure how they have good reviews.

My kids pick this restaurant everytime they can. Fast service, friendly service, consistantly good food.

  • Zach J.

This is very Americanized Chinese food, very fried with heavy sauces. The service is typically fast and the flavor is decent, but don't expect excellent Chinese food.

  • Heather B.

The food is about what you would expect. I'd say the quality is above average, but I'm pretty bummed they don't offer crab rangoon. The price is on the higher side, but it's not like they're Panda Express, so you should expect to pay a bit more at a sit down place. The thing I really liked though, was the service! We had a great waitress and despite it being somewhat busy while we were there, she kept my water glass full, kept the table pre-bussed the whole time and made an effort to connect with us. It's worth going to check out if you're looking for Chinese food on the Eastside.

The absolutely stunning, classy decor, warm, welcoming staff and FANTASTIC food easily makes this one of Washington's best kept secrets (for now), and a top choice for a quiet, intimate date. I've tried a lot of Chinese restaurants, and this one is hands down my favorite place to go. Their entrees are fresh, not greasy, there's no MSG, they have good portions, and yummy flavor!! You have got to try the sesame chicken and Mongolian beef--tasting is believing!

I've eaten here for lunch more times then I can count and it's always been good. They have a great lunch menu, including soup and tea. I wasn't impressed with the sweat and sour chicken but everything else I've had has been great. I've never had to wait for seating and the prices are excellent.

I hadn't gone to Chan's Place for years until this weekend, and then I recalled why. Let me go from start to finish. When you walk in, the waiting area is quite smoky. I know they have a bar, but seriously, this is a Chinese restaurant in the corner of Woodinville. Also, the entire place is lit too brightly for a good dinner-like atmosphere. The soup was quite bland. Maybe it's my Indian taste buds at fault here, but I really didn't like it. The texture was alright though. The entrees were pretty small portions and really I just didn't like the taste of anything except for the chicken. The fact that really bad, loud karaoke was being done in the bar didn't contribute to my overall dining experience. I really don't think I'm ever going to Chan's Place again.

  • Debbie S.

This is one of my favorite local chinese restaurants. I prefer the Chan's in Woodinville to their other location in Kirkland. The food in Woodinville seems better to me. One reviewer mentioned the bar area. This is no longer a problem due to the ban on smoking. Food is consistently good. I especially like the mongolian beef. Service is good as well.

We frequent Chans in Woodinville a lot. And usually have the same meal - Wor wonton soup. Delicious. It is hearty soup full of all kinds goodies besides their fabulous wontons in a tasty broth. We often split an order of this soup and an entree. We've had the Wor wonton at their Kirkland restaurant and it's close but the Woodinville version is tastier. Chans is very popular and can be crowded at times. But that is a good thing, isn't it? The only bad dish I had there was years ago when I was hungry for steak. Don't order steak at a Chinese restaurant.

I just went there tonight. Don't believe the negative hype. This is a top notch Chinese restaurant. They are consistently good, but they've improved. Maybe it's some of these overly negative reviews, but tonight's dinner was as good as Chinese food gets. Seriously, the best meal I've had in a long long time and I go out a lot. Steamed dumplings - perfection. Big fresh prawns perfectly cooked and seasoned. Spicy tofu with a nice kick. The food came out quickly too and in big generous portions. What I noticed most was how fresh the food was which goes to quality. The large aquariums make a nice backdrop too. Most restaurants interiors are dull and look like they were last updated in the 80's. Chans Place has a lovely interior-nicely decorated and comfortable. I highly recommend this place.

I ordered take-out from here the other night. I was initially impressed with the speedy service and the fact that the food was still piping hot when I arrived home with it, but at the end of the day what really matters about a Restaurant is the food quality. While everything was thoroughly cooked and aesthetically pleasing it was all also extremely bland. My Chinese food cravings went unsatisfied.

  • Katrina H.

We love the fresh food, big portions and wonderful taste and texture. Always hot, served quickly and with a smile. Great friendly service and moderate price. We have eaten at Chan's for 20 years and never had a bad meal. No additives to worry about like MSG, just FRESH FOOD! We love the Honey Sesame Chicken, Rainbow Shrimp, Pork Fried Rice, and more! Nice interior and we go there often for family Birthday Dinners. We often get the House Special for 2 or more.

The hostess who was working tonight 9/13/15 should not be working in customer service. She had a bad attitude and did not listen. We requested a booth. She made us wait to be seated when there were plenty of booths open and then proceeded to seat others who came in after us in the booths we requested. When I asked her about it, she responded with attitude and rolling her eyes. I can't speak to the quality of the food because we left as I refuse to give my service to those who provide poor customer service. Please train your hostess! Lesson 1: use a smile, please, and thank you! Pretend to care. Customers are giving you money!!!!

I really like this place. When I get a craving for the American-style Chinese food of my childhood, Chan's Place hits just the right note. For both dine-in and takeout I've found the service excellent and the food delicious.

We didn't get a chance to try the food here, so our review is only based on our experience trying to get a seat here. We walk in - 2 adults, a 5yo, a 3yo, and baby in car seat. Ask the hostess for a booth. She tells us 5 minute wait. The two closest booths to the hostess station are empty. Anyway, 5 minutes pass, she seats someone else in one of the previously mentioned booths who arrived just after us. Our baby is getting hungry and upset so we are pretty ready to have a seat now. We inquire about the wait and she says (with plenty of attitude) 'it takes a while to get a table for 5 ready'. I tell her 'I'm sorry you must not of heard me - the short booth is perfect for us (locks kids in versus free range table issues) - she rolls her eyes and that's when We were done. We left and went to Woodenville Thai across the street which has fantastic service and very good food. Chans place needs to provide some training to their hostess which should have received in grade school or earlier. Listen to your customers or they will not be your customers!

Went to Chan's on a Saturday night. We were a party of 13. A large private room was reserved for us. Food and service was superb! We ordered multiple dishes to be shared among the party. Everything was to the highest quality. The garlic chicken appetizer was my favorite. The parking was ample inside the strip mall. The decor in the restaurant was done in art deco but still was very tasteful. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or for a group.

  • Albert S.

Love this place. Can't speak much to its authenticity as a Chinese restaurant, but only to how consistently delicious their wonton soup and general tso's chicken have been over the decade of me dining at this location. Whenever I feel a little under the weather, their wonton soup makes me feel 100% again. I'm pretty sure there's magic in the broth. Portions are excellent too, an order of general tso's chicken and a bowl of wonton soup is easily enough for 2-3 people. I prefer the Woodinville Chan's location over the Kirkland location for little reasons like the interior, the staff, etc. but the food and service at Kirkland Chan's is just as good. The only difference I've noticed is that the Kirkland Chan's doesn't put bits of BBQ pork in their wonton soup like the Woodinville Chan's does. Other menu favorites: po po platter (fun appetizer if dining-in), honey glazed chicken, crispy prawns, buddhist delight, mongolian beef, pork fried rice, sizzling rice soup.

Hadn't tried the restaurant in awhile and gave it another try. Ordered a lunch special, and was asked how spicy. On a scale of 1 to 5 I ordered a 1. When I got my food open the first thing I saw was 4 or 5 red chili's on top! Not what I would call a '1'! It was so spicy I couldn't eat it. Thought I would at least be able to eat the fried rice--bland and with no flavor. Threw it out and decided I was done. Won't be back

Welcome to pound town, population you. Great food, good service, fair prices, eat a bunch but don't feel overstuffed. Hard to find classic Chinese American, let alone quality ingredients. This place delivers. Also they literally deliver, but come on in and check out the multiple aquariums and statues for the full experience. Love it.

Sorry to hear others haven't had a great experience. I just moved back to the area, and Chan's is as good as it ever was! Quality of the food combined with portion size makes this a great value, even if it's a little more expensive then others. Skip the fast food places for lunch, Chan's offers a great selection of lunch specials that are priced just right, with quick sit down service.

Yet another place that I miss visiting from my time in Woodinville. They are a bit overpriced but I can say from the 10+ times I've eaten here that I never once was disappointed. They are friendly and the bartender is funny.

Horrible customer service as well. The sign says lunch is served on weekends but actually isn't. All I'm asking is either take the sign down or provide the lunch menu.

Delicious honey walnut prawns. I always leave off the broccoli though!! But if you like a little spice I highly recommend the firecracker prawns. Delicious small prawns flash fried with tempura and coated in siracha mayo.

  • Leah W.

Horrible customer experience. I've been there for lunch on a weekend before and decided to go back for lunch as the sign on the door says "Lunch served sat. & sun. 12:30-4:00pm". When seated they provided a dinner menu so I asked for the lunch menu. They were extremely rude saying lunch wasn't served on weekends. The whole reason I went there was because it said lunch served on the door. The management did nothing but be rude and continue to lie. Do not eat here. Its the principle of the matter and they did NOTHING but claim that the sign was wrong. Then take it down!!!! I will never eat here again. If they lie about the menu what else do they lie about???? Be aware!!!!

First & foremost, the server was just 100% done with life. He seems like the kind of guy that has put up with everyone's crap on a daily basis for so long that he now just wants to end it all. He doesn't want to talk to you or respond to anything-- take the order, put the food on the table & just get it over with already. I managed to ask for a drink, chopsticks & a napkin. It seemed like a feat. The food was gross. We got one of the Clue-themed (I think it was called Colonel White... wait, what?!) combinations for two. The temperature range on the appetizers was from distressingly hot to my poor bf (spring rolls) to lukewarm & tasting like peppered urine (won ton soup, though we asked for hot & sour) to outright cold (aw, not the bbq pork.. the bf said it's supposed to be that temp though, dunno. My bad if so). The main course was this utterly revolting 'almond fried chicken' which was yeah, a deep fried chicken, but with country style frigging gravy. The almond part was just teenylittle bits of nut chucks on this icky gravy. Also part of the main course was a decent Oriental Encounter (I love that title) & actually quite good sweet & sour chicken. We took the sauce from that & put it on everything else to make it eatable. The sides were meh pork fried rice & meh noodles that seemed covered in wax. For some reason, most of the food seemed to taste like the won ton soup, if you know what I mean. The one star is for the decor alone. Not even being sarcastic-- I seriously love dated 70s style. The golds, dark greens & browns. Good stuff. But if you're wanting a place that has been remodeled or updated at least once since they opened seemingly some 40 years earlier, this isn't the place. There's no way I'm going back. Unless that poor server needs a hug. I hope he retires soon & goes to other restaurants so he can actually have good food & give those servers the hard time he's seemingly had.

A classic Chinese restaurant. The decor is art deco with an oriental flair. Our party ordered 6 family style dinners. Tons of delicious cusine which included appitzers of BBQ pork, choice of soup, spring rolls, and skewered beef. We live in Socal, visiting the family in Monroe. I always include a meal here when in area. Service was excellent. Highly recommend!

I've definitely had better service and the food was just ok. It was disappointing. We were seated pretty much immediately since there weren't a lot of people in there when we went. Even though there weren't many people there it seemed to take forever for anything there. We didn't even get water and menus for quite awhile. Then it took forever for the food. If the food was phenomenal maybe it would have been worth the wait, but the food was really just ok. It took so long to get our check that I actually had to get up and track someone down so we could pay and leave. No one really seemed apologetic about all the waiting and it seemed like there should have been more than enough staff to cover the few tables that were filled. I think this may be the first review ever where I don't say that I'd come back. Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to go back to Chan's Place unless I have an entire day free to sit and wait.

Review is based on takeout order. Fast service Mandarin chicken was amazing and spicy. Ordered it 3 stars. Mushu pork was good Bbq pork fried rice was good. Food was flavorful, not salty. Generous portions!

The.Slowest.Service.On.The.Planet. Glaciers move faster. Global Warming raises sea level faster. Backwards-only time machines get to the future faster. Evolution moved fish to land faster. Though we were seated relatively quickly, everything went increasingly down hill from there time wise. The minutes it took for water, then doubled when it was time for tea to arrive and drink orders, then doubled again to wait to place an order, then quadrupled waiting for said order. Then, inexplicably, saw the quadruple and raised it a double again to get a to-go box. Then, infuriatingly, took an additional ion of time to get the check sitting there with our to-go food. I imagine it would have been much longer, but WorkHusband had had enough and harrumphed his way to the hostess to ask if we could just.get.the.damn.check.already. We had wandered here with time to kill before a meeting (just shy of 2 hours), but the service was so over the top slow, we barely made the meeting on time. Had the earlier service (time to order, time to food) been any reasonable amount of time my opinion would likely be different. I had time to kill. As it was, we rushed to eat and then still made up no time because of the insane delay for the check. (I honestly wonder how many people successfully skirt without paying ...because the opportunity is wide the hell open for a long time) We only ordered the garlic chicken wings appetizer, ginger chicken (mine) and almond chicken (his). Mine was tasty and the chicken wings were OK (They were no salt and pepper wings from chen's village, though) but he seemed quite disappointed in his. A shame, since the portions are ridiculously huge. (I ended up springing for dinner and taking the left overs to the kids. Teenagers don't really have taste buds when it comes to Leftovers From Mom) The decor is certainly interesting. I'm still pretty miffed about the slow service, so I'll hold my tongue in case I go overboard on nitpicking over it. I imagine at it's hey day it was totally the Most Awesome Swanky Shit in Americanized Chinese. I won't visit again unless I have the expectation, time and desire to be eligible for Social Security by the time I'm done. (or, just many hours to whittle away)

We hadn't been to Chan's Place for about ten years because we weren't happy with the food last time we went. But we had a hankering for moo shoo pork, so decided to give it another try. Big mistake. They might as well just serve colored salt! Every dish was waaaaaaaay too salty - and everything tastes pretty much the same. We couldn't finish everything (see the too salty comment) so took home some boxes - which we mistakenly left in the car. I think they'll just go directly into the garbage, much as I hate to waste the money. (it isn't cheap!) This is a Chinese restaurant from the 70s in every way. Better to go to Matsu Teriyaki in the same parking lot, where the food is better and cheaper and the owner is friendly.

This place is the best kept secret in heart of Woodinville. The food is very good and the service is too. The place is very clean and has a nice warm environment. The bathrooms are also spotless unlike many other Asian restaurant. Try them for lunch the lunch menu has over 20 special and I have never had one I did not like. Each lunch special allow you to choose one of three kinds of soup and choose from steam rice or pork fried rice. Several dishes allow you to spice up the heat from 1-5. Of course they will make any dish spicy if you ask for it. They are 4 1/2 stars in my book.

I keep coming here thinking it's good, but keep coming away disappointed. The pork fried rice tastes like pork we can get from Costco. The gravy on the food is thick and gels. Food tastes as if it's been microwaved in plastic bags. All the items we tasted like the Mongolian beef, beef and broccoli, cashew chicken, etc. all tastes the same as if they were all fixed in the same pot. It's hard to distinguish between the flavors in blind taste test. But the place seems busy when we go. The restaurant itself seems to be stuck in 80s décor and could do w/ an update, but only maybe they are waiting until they find a new chef. Hope they figure it out, as I would like to see this place succeed.

Updating my review - called the restaurant and they have called their pest control folks and are handling this issue - they were sensitive to how appalling this was - and I see that somehow this ended up being about the Woodinville site - it was Issaquah - not Woodinville (no doubt my error!!!!) ---- they are comping the meal and I am totally satisfied in how they handled the buggy situation and will return. Upping stars to 4 - do note however that you cannot reach them via email as it is as pseudo-site so you must call them if there is a problem - but they do respond promptly. Good for Chans!

Sweet and Sour Chicken....usually a favorite in our house. Except when its raw and undercooked. This has happened twice now, so our visit to Chan's is now over.

My family always comes here when we want good Chinese food. Their food is delicious, portions are large, and the menu is one of the most extensive I have seen. After trying their Mongolian Beef I am hooked - it melts in your mouth. Hot and Sour soup is quite good. Service can be slow, but food is worth the wait.

This is our go-to place for good Chinese food. We always get the Mr. Scarlets dinner for 2 combo, and it never fails. They are great for to-go pick up orders too. OH, and the bar makes great stiff cocktails :)

I've been to Chan's twice now. The first time I loved it and thought the food and service was great. The second time it felt like a completely different restaurant. The food was average at best this time and the waitress spilled drinks and the food all over the table multiple times. When we asked for to go boxes the waitress brought them over and put the food in the box. Well she put the plate in the air and turned the plate sides, so the food just dropped in there all mixed together. Not really appetizing to eat later, if you get what I mean. She was very nice but just not a good server. All I can say is the service was just odd. Probably the worst part of it, which affects the score, is two of the members of the group got horribly sick (food poisoning) after eating here. Both myself and a friend were sick for a couple days with food poisoning symptoms. Everyone else in the group got stomachaches that night. Something set everyone off but only 2 people got really ill. None of us had the same dish but something made us incredibly ill after eating here. Also we had not eaten at any similar restaurant in the last day before going here, so we came to the conclusion we got sick from the food here. I'm really disappointed because the first time the food was very good but the second time it was just not great. I don't plan on returning because I don't want to take a chance on getting ill again from the food. *If none of us had gotten sick from the meal I would have given 2 stars instead of 1.

A bit too bright - takes away from the ambiance. Food is too greasy but still tasty. Service is good.

Went here for lunch. God what a mess ! The barbeque pork fried rice was awful. I ordered the pork Chow Mien,it was equally as bad. To top everything off,the waiter kept going to the kitchen, and was screaming at someone back there. It was my last time .

hands down the best Chinese food in Woodinville we usually sit in the bar and have drinks and wings to start with. on weekdays we stop by for their amazing chicken Chowmain. the bartender Aerom is a very friendly individual and Pours nice drinks. Hint hint. They recently remodeled and it looks great. the only thing that I would say as a recommendation is that they need to change there karaoke a it is not fun they always play old people music. they got lots of TVs in the atmosphere is lots of fun

I thought this place had good general's chicken...better than most American Chinese .Nothing to write home about but I would try it again. Slower than normal service...waited for 10 minutes before any first service person came to table.

Great food but I got an $11 entree to go and it was way too small. I complained right there but she didn't care. Way too expensive.

Another great meal at Chan's. We have eaten here MANY times. It is always delicious, excellent service, and the food comes quick ! We just recently discovered the "meals" you can order that include soup, eggrolls, BBQ pork, and several entree's. This is the way to go for dinner. SUPER value. Much less expensive then ordering individual items. It is limited choices, and you cannot substitute. But, we have tried a couple different meals now, and everything was great, really delicious. I especially enjoy their seasonings. nothing is bland at this place. GO EAT !

We will NEVER come to this place again. They will not let you pay separately when you're in a large party and they don't bother to tell you that when you make reservations! Ridiculous!

We have been looking for a replace Chinese restaurant to replace our old favorite that closed and Chan's has come the closest to quality, taste and price to our old place. The deep fried almond chicken is great as is everything else we get.

Chan's is a great family restaurant. The food is tasty and the service is fast. There are fountains and fish tanks to entertain the kids while you are waiting for a table or for your food. I love the Emerald City Prawns! The veg noodles are a little too greasy for my liking, but everything else is great.

Best service ever. I wanted Singapore noodles (which was on the menu),, but I wanted them done with chow fun noodles instead of vermicelli. They took my order and substituted chow fun and the dish was sensational - tasty, spicy, with the nice, thick chewiness of chow fun noodles I love. Thank you so much for a great dish and incredible service.

Waited for ten minutes, the hostess had her back to us, but other employees walked by and could have told her. I used to go there about once a month, but I won't be going back for a long time.

I don't generally like Chinese food. I think it's like Thai food but less flavorful. This place though serves food with actual flavor. The veggie chow mien and pork fried rice are my favorites. The general tso's chicken is also great and so is the black pepper beef. It's still Chinese food but for what it is it's really good. Also, I think they have karaoke which is my kryptonite so I will definitely be going back.

This place was really great! We were referred here because we were looking for "traditional and authentic" Chinese food- The restaurant itself was really pretty inside - you wouldn't initially think so from the outside because it looks like any other store front but the large fish-tanks and open dining area was very pleasant. I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for the type of authentic flavor that a place like PF Chang's can't mimic! The only reason I don't give 5 stars is the service was very bland - I've been to many places and have seen exceptional customer service that far exceeds the general "Hi, something to drink? Ready to order" repertoire. Also, to substitute fried rice for white rice was $2-$3 extra which seemed really high and the portion amount wasn't very good for paying that much to substitute. Otherwise we really enjoyed Chan's place and would definitely go back!

Great cashew chicken!!! We had a misunderstanding on my first order, I wanted something not fried and got a fried dish. They happily exchanged it out for cashew chicken which is soooo delicious! It's full of veggies and has great flavor. I will definitely order this again. Wonton soup was ok, I prefer a little more wonton noodle but still great flavor. My friend ordered the broccoli and beef and that was pretty delicious as well. The food is made to order so is very fresh, the veggies have a lot of color which means they have never been frozen, so all in all great Chinese food. My only qualms are that over have the menu is fried so will probably have to stick to the same few dishes (like I said first, I tried turning a fried dish into something not fried and that was lost in translation) and the food was a little on the greasy side. But isn't all Chinese food here?

Not a huge fan of American-style Chinese, but Chan's stays pretty close to its roots. The ambience is always clean and pleasant (love the huge fish tanks). The service is prompt and methodical. The food is always the same--delicious! The reason I am writing this review is due to a bad experience at Beijing Garden in Everett. My gut is still churning an hour later. Chan's has NEVER DISAPPOINTED us. And my wife is the fussiest eater. She loves it. Thanks, Chan's. See you soon!

Let me start by saying I would give the food five stars. It is all freshly cooked, served with generous portions, and promptly served. But while the service was timely, our waiter was rude and inconsiderate. First off, we were seated for an early dinner. The restaurant was almost empty, yet they seated the five of us in the back by the kitchen and all the clanky cups. Yes, I asked to move to the front. While we were still reading our menus, the waiter came and asked, "What do you want?" and was clearly annoyed that we weren't ready yet. I could go on, but you get the gist of it. Basically, we felt as if we were really bothering out waiter with our patronage. We have been there four times and experienced the same kind of service. We wouldn't have gone there this time, but we had an appointment in Woodinville and my grandmother really wanted Chinese food. We prefer South China in NewPort Hills. We go there all the time. The food is excellent and they have the nicest and most considerate wait staff I have ever met. So, food: 5 Stars Service: 2.5 Stars (only because they were very fast)

We went back to Chan's Place on 2 more separate occasions. First of all, if you're really into karaoke, I mean if you own and bring your karaoke discs when you go karaoke-ing, this is the place. We stopped by on a Friday night for drinks, the bar was like American Idol for contestants 50 or over, with a small sprinkling of younger folks. These people are REALLY GOOD. And the drinks are strong. We went again last night for food. The Mai Tai is beautifully presented, as is the Po Po platter (with its own little grill! and it was delicious). We had Tofu Szechuan Style (okay), Ocean Extravaganza (okay), and Oriental Encounter (great). The service was impeccable. Despite us being the last customers in the restaurant, we did not feel rushed at all.

First, Chan's has my favorite Hot and Sour Soup, which I love when the weather turns cold. However, twice now I've been in there ordering chicken chow mein, and twice it came with less than half an ounce of "chicken" which is not real. It is like rubbery stuff, probably the pink slime. But it's not real chicken. I went in hungry and left 15 dollars later hungry and angry. They smile and say hi. Then feed you small portions of crap. When I was a kid we got strips of real chicken, lots of them, with a scoop of rice and plenty of crispy noodles. Not at Chan's. And Chan's on every menu page emphasizes "NO RICE!" It's a nice atmosphere, just don't order any food, unless it's cold outside and you love hot and sour soup. I don't believe in feedback unless a place is brand-new. When people work there every day they already know and don't need customers to tell them about it.

Their chicken was in much larger chunks for their General Tsos Chicken. Sadly to say, I would choose Top Foods chinese over this place since there is no other Chinese in Woodinville.

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, you should try a different restaurant. Chan's Place is a very American style Chinese restaurant. I accidentally found this place, and decided to give it a try. Normally I am not a fan for most American style Chinese food, but the dishes we ordered at Chan's were delicious. The restaurant itself is also clean and nice. (Most authentic Chinese restaurants don't maintain their places clean.) We ordered Beef Tomato Chow Mein, Wor Mein Noodle, Hot & Sour Soup, BBQ Fried Rice, and Chicken Fried Rice. Each of them was very good. I would love to order the same things again. I gave it only 3 stars because their service was not good. Although the restaurant itself was big, they only allowed us to sit in a small section. We had to wait to get seated. (The girl at the front desk told us to wait for 5-10 minutes, but we actually waited for 15 minutes.) Once we were seated, we waited for a long time to see our table server. And another long wait for the dishes to come! While we were eating, our server didn't come to check with us. He was very busy at serving other tables. I think they should hire more people since they are getting so many customers.

There really aren't choices in Woodinville for Chinese food, so if you keep that in mind and don't have high expectations, Chan's Place is fine. We used to get take out here many years ago when we were desperate for a Chinese food fix and didn't want to go into Bellevue or Seattle. Since then they have remodeled their interior and it is far more upscale and clean than it appears on the outside. I'm always a bit put off at a Chinese restaurant when their servers are not Asian, much less Chinese, but I did hear some Chinese coming from the kitchen, so hopefully the chef is authentic at least! My friend and I recently came for lunch, and they have the usual American-pleasing choices on the menu, although priced a dollar or more per selection than other similar restaurants. We both enjoyed our Hot and Sour soup, which was more hot than sour, so maybe didn't have the perfect balance - still tasty, though. I had Chicken with Broccoli, which was ok, although the chicken was a bit mixed (some of it seemed like it was leftover from something else). My friend had their Chow Mein noodles and Pork Fried Rice, and this seemed to be decent. My kids used to love their Chicken Chow Mein, so I guess this is a good choice here. I am giving this place three stars even though the food was average to below average because the ambience is quite nice, and I can imagine that there would be those who would be satisfied in spite of the less than authentic Chinese food.

I have been to this location numerous times over the years. Now I live in Kirkland so I tend to go to the Kirkland one more now, but the first Chan's Place I went to was the Woodinville one probably about 17 years ago. It has consistently had good food and service. Honey glazed chicken is my favorite dish. It is great for large crowds. The water is OK, but not great. I love the ponds at the enterance and large fish tanks. Gives you something to look at if you have to wait. The Woodinville location also has the best drinks. Nice and strong - always a good reason to go back.

Decent Egg-Fu-Young (SP?) Hilarious Karoke lounge Stiff Drinks Very Good Service I actually really like this place and I'm not the only one. On a Friday night, about 6pm, this place is jam-packed. I was honestly a little stunned. The food is really quite good and I can't believe how fast and respectful the service is. Thumbs up!

Worst food in town! Save your gut and $50 and take the family to Top Foods Chinese buffet, its better quality. We bought four specials and some pot stickers with one drink, $80 and we had to send the chicken back. Waiter never checked on us through the meal. To top it off the whole family had a gut ache all night. Save the pain go someplace else.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
