This place MUST buy reviews! It's hotel food. Looks okay, tastes bad, service is sub par. Hair in salad. New York Steak was frozen at some point. It was drowned in a thick brown sweet sauce to disguise the taste. Bread was worthless, you can make better at home with wonder bread.

This place is absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. This is a prime spot for a date night or special occasion. There is also a fire and live piano music. The food is a bit expensive but that is to be expected. Everything is fresh, prepared well and tastes delicious. I had the calamari and it was fantastic. The sauce that goes with it is spectacular. Seriously, I think I'd buy it again for the sauce alone. I'd also suggest ordering the Flaming Spanish Coffee. Watching that being prepared is a treat.

we had a buffet banquet at this location. service and staff were stellar!! they were very easy to work with and had everything taken care of on the day of the event. the food was very tasty. Everyone loved their chicken and the mushroom ravioli. the salmon pasta was very tasty and the salmon was fresh, flaky, and very good. i was impressed by the roasted vegetables. they were still crisp and tasty - not mushy or overcooked which is so easy to do with veggies for a buffet. overall I was really impressed with the service, the food, and the banquet rooms. my only negative was that when we asked for to-go boxes we were told that we only had a certain # available. made it very awkward with our clients who were there - I wish someone would have pulled me aside to say they'd need to charge extra or something instead of telling the client they couldn't get one.

I have been here a couple of times and both times I was thoroughly disappointed. My first visit, although subpar, gave me hope that it might just have been an off night and I figured I'd give it one more try for happy hour. My second visit was so terrible that we left feeling downright offended. We were sat quickly and then left for nearly fifteen minutes trying to flag down a server to take a drink order. We finally got our order in with someone who said that he would take our order, but he wasn't our server. He came back quickly with drinks and another ten to fifteen minutes went by as we scanned the room trying to find someone else to take our food order. Our server eventually came and took our order and quickly disappeared again. The food arrived quickly, delivered again by someone other than our server. We ordered a few different happy hour dishes which ranged from pretty good to terrible. The grilled bread being the high point and the saffron and mushroom risotto being the low point. The risotto was absolutely flavorless and it was so impossible to find our server to ask for salt and pepper that we just gave up and pushed it to the side. A busser eventually came and cleared our plates and we waited for another fifteen minutes until we could get our server's attention in order to ask for a check. Before we could protest he took our glasses, including my fiancee's unfinished beer and left. My fiancée was so shocked that he couldn't find the words to ask our server to please put the beer back down. He came back moments later with a check and waited just near the table for us to put a card in the book. He immediately grabbed our payment and left. Just as it seemed that the speed of service had increased it slowed right back down as we watched our server stand and talk for another tenish minutes before running our card. By the time we got out of there we had stayed about forty minutes longer than we had hoped. Needless to say we will not be going back.

My wife & I received a first rate dining experience here at Hudson's grill. The ambiance of the Heathman Lodge coupled with the gracious attentive staff & fine food made us feel like we were VIPs. We had an amazing pan seared halibut fillet served over a scoop of mashed potatoes smothered in cream corn sprinkled with pomegranate & garnished with watercress. This was the house special for the evening and an amazing synergy of flavor. This finished wonderfully with a slice of NY cheesecake & scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was our first time out to dinner at Hudson's and we plan to be back to try some more of their culinary delights.

For a hotel lobby restaurant, the food at Hudson's Bar and Grill was remarkably yummy and memorable. It may be the best food in Vancouver, WA. Since I was staying at Heathman's Lodge, I popped down for Happy Hour (4-6) and ended up staying well into the night enjoying dish after dish and random conversations with travelers. Draft Beers are $3.50 for HH, so I opted for a Phriem IPA. It wasn't very "hoppy" so I wasn't very "happy." (2 stars) After a few pints, I switched to Dry Fly Gin & Tonic to give this Spokane-distilled gin a shot. It's a smooth gin that could use more juniper bite. (3 stars) Drinks are drinks ... let's get to the food. Gorgonzola Cheesecake Appetizer ($10) That's right ... Cheesecake for an appetizer. I luv the way the executive chef thinks. This rich, creamy, and cheesy cheesecake comes with rustic Bread and was so good I had to share ... so, I did with a barmate. (4 stars) Sizzling Forest Mushrooms ($10) A hot plate of sizzlin' mushrooms filled the entire room with the smell of garlic and jealousy. The wild mushroom blend was so good ... that I didn't dare share. This is a must-order. (5 stars) Smoked Chicken and Corn Chowder ($5) For 5 bucks, I thought why not. The smokiness and creaminess of the chowder was ok, although, I'd love it if it was even creamier and smokier. (3 stars) Tillamook White Cheddar Burger ($12) With so many great entree options, this was the toughest choice. A pic on Yelp convinced me to go with this cheeseburger ... besides anything Tillamook is awesome. The thick beef patties and white cheddar oozing from all sides were cheesy burger happiness. (4 stars) Chocolate Mousse Cake Of course, I didn't need dessert, but this simply looked too good to pass up. I should of skipped it. I would of preferred the chocolate cake if they moussed up the cake instead of being so thick and firm. (2 stars) Besides the mushrooms, the best course of the meal was the bartender. Can't remember her name after so many drinks, but she rocks ... and rolls. Love her. Hudson's Bar & Grill is one damn good hotel lobby restaurant. There were several other specialties that looked tempting on the menu, so, I hope I get the chance to stay at Heathman's Lodge again and give them a try, too.

Great lunch spot. I've been here multiple times and always tend to get the Ruben as it is quite tasty. Their staff is very friendly and I've always had great service. Will be going back!

So I finally had the opportunity to try this restaurant for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I had a bowl of their amazingly delicious Salmon and Corn chowder for a bargain price of only $5. I also shared a portobello sandwich. The Salmon chowder had gigantic pieces of salmon in it, and was very tasty. I would love to come back for this or try out one of their brunch specials. I really enjoyed my visit here. Our waitress was very accommodating when we requested ice and lemon for our waters. Well worth the visit.

I have been here several times and it is a very good restaurant. Considering this is inside a Hotel, WOW! I like the rustic theme used at the Heathman Lodge and it carries a bit into the restaurant. This place has a lot of class but still shows a little lumberjack in the decor. Every time I order food here I am please with the presentation and preparation.

Review for Hudson's Bar & Grill. I'd give it more stars if possible. The closest thing to Holiday Inn in real life. This place is great for: Breakfast Brunch Lunch Happy hour Dinner Drinks at the bar. Does that cover it? My sisters and I find any excuse to meet up here for happy hour. The nibbles are fabulous, (things like rustic grilled bread with olive oil, or Tillamook burger) and you can't go wrong sitting by the roaring fire. Bonus points if the fab Christmas decorations are up and the piano player does a little Charlie Brown. Absolute perfection. Get the bread pudding. Do it.

We drove to Vancouver for a reason, and decided it's almost 2PM and still hasn't had lunch! The closest to our destination was a YELP's review on the Hudson's, so off we went. We were seated right away, and our waitress came by just as fast. We both ordered the Crab Risotto. Dungeness crab, Arborio rice, seafood broth, micro greens, & mushrooms. They used two types of mushrooms, and I was showing hubby the 2nd type can be used just like the white button mushroom variety (or any variety for that and he didn't believe me!) The only thing I can say about my dish: IT WAS TOO DANG HOT! The crab was warm temperature. Everything else was great! Also, it seems like there's something missing: a bread maybe a salad for the price we paid for this dish, something is not all there! In Italy, you need to ask for your receipt, so we must be in Italy because we waited TOO LONG for ours! It was a Sunday, and it wasn't crowded, so the reason why we waited too long? I have no clue!

The food was extremely disappointing. I found a hair in my blue cheese wedge salad. For a $9 salad I would expect more than a single small piece of bacon on top; there was probably more hair than bacon.:/ I love a good meatloaf, so I gave it a shot. It was on par with a freezer meal. My husband did not like his steak either. Service was mediocre. 2 stars for the awesome live piano music in the lounge. Did we eat at the same place as everyone else who reviewed this place?

Server number 504 - Beverly. WHAT. A. GROUCH. I get that it must suck sometimes to be forced to work in the service industry. But seriously, if you can't even muster any friendliness whatsoever...if you're so resentful about being there that your entire demeanor is hostile...maybe you should just NOT be a waitress. We were friendly. Thankful. Appreciate. Asked few questions, requested nothing exceptional. She said nothing to our repeated 'thank-yous'. She slammed a glass of ice tea on the table so hard I jumped. Her answers were short and terse. The wait for our check after our table had been cleared was over 15 minutes long and there were about 3 tables active in the entire place. If not for this woman, I would have nothing but praise for Hudson's. *environment is warm and inviting *food is top notch, plentiful *price is reasonable I dislike being served by angry people.

We had our 'morning after the wedding brunch' at Hudson's in their upstairs area for a group of about 20, and it was fantastic! They worked with me to customize a menu, and everyone was impressed with the food and ambience. (Holiday décor was beautiful and many of us took photos with their lobby Santa statue in the background!) I've enjoyed the restaurant many times over the years (any place that features and supports live music is already a plus) and this was my first group experience here. HIGHLY recommended!

My wife had gone here for Happy Hour recently, and liked it, so I took her there today so I can try it out. Wow. I cant believe this is the first time I have been to their happy hour. Easily the best in Vancouver in my opinion. The food was much higher quality than most happy hours out there. Really. The only thing that kept it from a 5-star rating was that they were a little slow to get to us after we seated ourselves, and also a little slow to get to us our check when we needed to leave. It wasn't that busy, but who knows, maybe they were short staff today. That being said, our server(s) were awesome, very courteous, attentive and helpful. I think we will be back to try a brunch here in the near future. Good Job, Hudsons!

This place just SCREAMS Pacific Northwest. It's in a hotel that feels like a luxurious, yet rustic, cabin. I've been here several times and have had a good experience each time. Good food. Good happy hour. Not the cheapest place on the planet but you do get what you pay for here. I know this is a review for the restaurant but I've also stayed here a couple of times and the rooms are great. Nice Northwest feel in a pretty urban location.

This has got to be my favorite breakfast place in the Vancouver area. I love the French Toast bread pudding it's amazing I usually order the eggs benadict with it and me and my girlfriend split the two dishes it's perfect. I also like the fact when you order coffee they bring you a whole pot and you get to pour at your pleasure and the wait staff is always very friendly

I was skeptical as this was in a hotel, but I was very surprised! Great place for anyone to go. You can wear short or business casual. Rustic setting with excellent service. My boyfriend and I ate there both nights we stayed in Vancouver. We stayed next door at the Residence Inn. The servers, and the staff were great. Great corn chowder. The shrimp cocktail was amazing compared to so many others. Six huge prawns on a bed of ice with perfect cocktail sauce. The scallops were very good, and perfectly cooked. Their beef special was also excellent. I love the fact that this restaurant does not over salt their food. gorgeous setting and great acoustics. Our realtor who works right next door and has lived in Portland her whole life agreed its the best place to eat in Vancouver.

My husband and I have been here 3 times together. My husband was here once before and loved it. First time my husband brought me here was on our Wedding Anniversary for dinner. No reservations but we were seated right away. The waitress was very friendly, the wine was very good and the food was great with decent portions. I had the flat iron steak, cooked to order. The braised greens were the bomb! The second time, was on my birthday for breakfast. Again, no reservation but we were seated promptly. We asked if a seat was open next to the fireplace and it was, no problems. The eggs benedict was delicious, the potatoes were ok, I personally would have preferred hashbrowns but didn't ask so it's not a mark against them. Easter was the next day and they have a huge all you can eat brunch. The waitress checked to see if there were any reservations left and there was so we set it up. We showed up the next day, we were promptly seated and low and behold it was the same spot next to the fireplace! I know that on the all you can eat specials, you cannot specify a seat, but the fact that we did get my favorite seat in the place was awesome! The line was a bit long to get started but the food was really good. The mimosas were delicious and included in with the price of the brunch. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive and let us know we could stay as long as we liked. Today is Mother's Day and I called last minute to make a reservation for dinner. I am expecting our experience to be the same as it always has. If it changes, I'll be back here to report on it.

Flat iron steak ordered medium was served what my grandmother used to call "hurt worse and got well". Rib eye steak was thin as a a paper plate and was ordered rare but was served shoe leather well done. Drinks were less than to be kind and brussel sprouts which were recommended were raw and had to be cut with a steak knife. The fingerling potatoes were boiled, under done, completely devoid of any seasoning and had some equally tasteless greens plopped on top. This place has a great atmosphere and our waiter was terrific but the kitchen stinks. The manager did not seem to care and treated us like we were one of "those" which we are not. We always have a heart for our servers and the work load the staff is under but this guy was clueless. We did not ask for any comp nor expect any, we only wanted to give him the benefit of what no doubt many other customers were also experiencing. He didn't get it and totally dismissed us. We will not be back. Again, our waiter was on point and none of the failings were his fault. If that guy had a competent kitchen and manager behind him this would be my favorite place.

My wife and I have been here about 12 times over the last 5 or so years. Every single time we have been there the food has been extraordinary. Some of the reviewers that have had anything less than that I really feel sorry for. And have to believe they were there only one time one a bad night ( which still has me scratching my head at ) or just have no pallet for very good and very freshly prepared food.

Great professional service. Staff knows how to make guests welcome. From the first persons greetings to our server Patty we felt welcome, and graciously attended too. Food was excellent, comments from server on drinks was helpful. Hudson's probably knows this, but Patty is a huge asset as she represents the business in the best possible way. Engaging the patron in such a way that they feel comfortable. The way a guest in your home should feel. You want to go back for the food, and we will with a larger party this month. But we will also be back and ask for Patty as our server. Hudsons is a great find.

Nice bar with good ambiance, professional crowd. Slightly older crowd but I'm 41, so I don't need an ice luge or shots lined up at the bar. Dining area is adjacent to the bar, so if you need some food in addition to the appetizer or bar fare, just get off your stool and find a spot

Our very large family was planning to come together for the birthday of our dad & his twin brother. We chose the Heathman Lodge's Hudson Bar & Grill. We kept in constant contact with them as the day approached, providing updates to our ever-growing party. We were never given any indication that our party of 26 would be problematic for them to handle, but on the day of the event, they were unprepared for us. Worst of all, though, the waitstaff treated us with disdain and acted as though we were putting them out. We knew that a group as large as ours would take time for service; we weren't in any hurry, but to be treated as though we were imposing on people whose job it is to serve us, put a damper on the entire event. As far as the food goes, we were quite unimpressed with the limited choices. Almost in unison, everyone at my table flipped over their menus looking for the rest of the choices, only to be disappointed to find the wine selection was much more extensive than the food. We will not be returning - as a large group or even for just a small group. Terrible service is a huge turn off for me.

Took my mother here for a weekday lunch (early Mother's Day celebration) and found it to be well prepared, quality food that was very reasonably priced. The chef greeted us personally and I felt he was very passionate about his work. My salmon BLT was generously sized and the chicken-corn chowder was well balanced and flavorful. My mom said it was the best Rueben she's had in years. Service was prompt. I look forward to returning when I'm in the area!

Are the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver and the Heathman Hotel in downtown related? I can't tell from trying to research that question online. If I am left to judge, based on my experiences at restaurants in both hotels, the answer would be a resounding, "NO!" "Compare and contrast", as they used to say in debate tourneys at school. Let's see - Heathman Hotel downtown Portland - exemplary service, appealing ambiance, over-the-top food, good value for the spend. Heathman Lodge - possibly the worst service I've experienced in Portland, the ambiance of a ski lodge cafe, meh on the food, spendy. I was delighted to learn from Mrs. Burgerdogboy we were headed out for Saturday brunch with some dear friends, but was dreading the potential for the "Portlandia style" weekend brunch crowds. Happy to hear we were going to the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, because I ASSUMED it was related to the Heathman Hotel, where we've had excellent food and service in the past. (Probably one of the best happy hours in Portland, as well). The similarities between the two properties ends with the name. Period. While my reviews almost always have a positive spin, being that I was able to find some redeeming quality about a dining experience, regretfully, today is not one of those times. If I was a member of a younger demographic, my entire review could have been a single word: "meh." The two best things about our experience at Hudson's Bar and Grill were 1) being seated promptly by an amiable hostess, and 2) leaving. There were apparently 3 wait-persons working the room, which had about a dozen diners at 1030 on a Saturday morning. We apparently drew the short straw with our waitress, starting with a polite remark to her that one of the coffee cups was dirty, and her reply of "Hmm, I don't see anything wrong with it!" Wot wot? Lesson one of hospitality biz, waitress, you're reply should have been "Dreadfully sorry, I'll get a clean one at once." Drink orders. Delay. We ordered: two of us opted for the burgers with cheese, medium rare. The menu states "fresh Angus beef, house seasonings, Tillamook white cheddar, brioche. The menu might have stated: fresh Angus, highly overpowering seasonings, prepared however the f*** we feel like it. That's what we received (after a lengthy delay). I have nothing good to say about the cooked to the max burger, 'powerfully seasoned'. Fries were bathed in season salt. I'm a big salt eater, but it was too much for even me. Of all the choices of rice one can use for risotto, arborio, is one of the easiest to overcook. The kitchen did their best to prove the could overcook the rice. Corned beef hash, while esthetically plated, was over salted. But even the most mediocre food can sometimes be overcome by good service; regretfully, we were not blessed with that. Our waitress was AWOL for long stretches at a time, had to be reminded several times that the table wanted water served (she succeeded on the 3rd try). There was, however, one benefactor of our waitress, a single male sitting nearby was over coddled with both service and personal attention. Lucky him. Our companions picked up the check, $64 for four brunches, 3 coffees, two cocktails. We 'quibbled' over the amount of the tip, it was one of those view times when I would have voted for a big fat zero, but I was overruled by the table.

Considering this is a hotel lobby grill, it's pretty dang good! The burgers and fries are delightful and it's a nice clean place to eat. I stop by probably once a month when working.

We stayed at the Heathman Lodge and lucky us, this restaurant was on site. We ordered room service and enjoyed our food immensely! The calamari and sauces were tasty and the meatloaf was delicious and hearty. We did not dine in the actual restaurant, but when we passed it on the way to our room, the ambiance looked warm and inviting. There was a pianist playing one night and that was a nice touch. When we visit Vancouver again, will plan on dining here!

Wow just so spot on. Proper balance of fresh, local, clever, simple and prideful. Dined Here a few times and every dish has been great. Seasonal menu is updated frequently. Love the meatloaf; try it if it's on the menu.

Ordered a steak here medium rare. The waiter brought out a plate with 4 pieces of meet the were arranged all fancy. My first thought was why was my steak already cut into 4 sections. Then I took a bite and couldn't even chew it. The cook must have left it on the grill too long. It was way past well done. The flavor was awful. The other two dinners had crab cakes and soup and enjoyed them. I regretted my choice.

The wine selection is fairly good. Bar happy hour menu is OK, I felt the food to be shy of terrific. I expected much more, especially because the wait staff was so good. Maybe I had an off day? I am willing to try it again and bump up the rating.

I was served undercooked fish. By the time my replacement meal arrived the rest of my family had finished eating. I was surprised that I was charged for my meal. We had spent the night at the lodge which was fantasric, I was disappointed that what otherwise was a pleasant stay was marred by an unfortunate dining experience.

We had trouble getting the host to understand "booth" when he was seating us. The risotto described sounded horrible and it was extremely overpriced. We got up and left before even ordering. It wasn't worth the price for the food we saw around us in the tables.

First impressions count for a lot. We arrived just before the dinner peak, but were promptly and courteously seated and given menus by the hostess. The place was perhaps 1/2 to 2/3 full. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We are the kind of people who take a long time to figure out what to order usually waving off the server once or twice. This time, however, we had enough time to decide on our orders, put the menus at the end of the table to signal we were ready to order, and then wait so long that I finally checked the time. We had not been so much as served ice water up to this point. We watched servers go back and forth and sometimes glance at us. I don't think we were being intentionally ignored. I am assuming that each of the servers somehow assumed we were someone else's table and were not actually assigned to anyone. Finally I had to go to the hostess and say something. It felt like we'd been waiting at least 20 minutes, so in reality it probably wasn't more than 15. Still, for a high end place, this should never happen. Following that little bump in the road, our server was attentive, dinner arrived promptly, and it was very good. We had the crab and shrimp cocktail to start. My wife ordered the scallops, recommended by our server, and they were excellent. I had the crab and shrimp stuffed sole, which was very good. Price: Spendy, but in line with the food. Atmosphere: Warm woodsy lodge, but not cozy. Service: Not bad after the initial hiccup. Food: Quite good but nothing to set it apart from other spendy diners. They did OK, but not well enough to make me go out of my way to recommend it to friends. At the same time I would not be afraid to go back.

Very nice place, but very expensive for what you get. Ate dinner here every night from 1/27 thru 1/30 (work training), trying various items. Sirloin steak was overcooked, meatloaf was over compressed and dry, burger was overcooked and dry, crab cakes were ok hot but terrible after they cooled off a little. Waitress was good, but could have been a bit more friendly. Coworkers thought the food was immaculate- maybe my standards are too high? I just expect a LOT for a meal that costs $45+ for each person! Sorry- They didn't impress me.

We were here on a Friday night for an event in the hotel. NOTE: you may not take your drink with you into the hotel. So, plan to finish your drink there. This was a bit disappointing, but every establishment has there own rules. The food in the bar area was ok and they had a decent selection. The bar was pretty packed on a Friday night. If you want a table, definitely get here a little early. The drink selection was nice and you really can't go wrong. There seemed to be a little for everyone. This restaurant is located in the Heathman Lodge and there is ample parking in the lot outside. This location is close to lots of shopping if you need a spot to recharge during your shopping!

Definitely one of the best, if not THE best, restaurants in Vancouver. I've happy hour-ed here, had two parties with 12+ people, and and enjoyed late night cocktails by the bar, and each experience has been wonderful. I highly recommend the scallops (they'll even put the scallops over salad!), fried calamari (which is very lightly fried) and salmon, amongst a plethora of other delicious options! Major shoutout to Robert, my server quite a few times. This guy is kind, professional, and has an amazing memory. He's a wonderful addition to the Hudson's team!

I brought two clients to Hudson's for lunch during the last two weeks. Both clients were very impressed and said they would be coming back to Hudson's anytime they were even close. The service was friendly, light-hearted, and attentive. Every food item was to-die-for and presented with style. The chef even visited the table. The scallops were the best I can remember enjoying. The salads were crisp, tasty and perfectly dressed. One of my guests said it was the best pulled-pork sandwich he has ever had...period. If you stay at the hotel, you don't have to go anywhere else to enjoy what Vancouver, or even Portland, has to offer for great dining.

Went there for a celebration dinner recently and for the most part I enjoyed the experience. The decor and ambiance were nice. Although I thought it was separated from the lobby. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. I ordered the special ($33 market price) which was a ribeye steak, blue cheese mash potatoes and a side dish described as a crab au gratin. The steak was cooked to my request and a good sized portion. The mash potato was just sprinkled with blue cheese crumbles, not integrated or infused into the mash. it was underwhelming and nothing special. The crab dish was the most disappointing aspect of the dish. I had to search the thick layers of spinach for bits of crab embedded within, which was far and few between. For the price the sides missed the mark. My other guests seemed to enjoy their dishes: stuffed sole, pork chop and seafood stew. The creme brûlée was good but the bread pudding was too eggy. All in all, I would return again.

After spending an all-day excursion in the forests of Washington, this place seemed wholly appropriate for finalizing the evening by capitalizing on a good steak dinner and it certainly delivered! A quick word of warning: As of this review, their website is NOT iPhone/iPad friendly as it requires Flash to navigate to the menus, but to give you an idea, the dinner entrees range ~$20-$30 and the bread isn't free ($2). It doesn't matter much anyway because the menu on the website was out-of-date and not what they were currently serving anyway. I started with the smoked chicken and corn chowder which was a little light on the seasoning, but some salt fixed it up. The flat iron steak was excellent: thick, juicy, and accompanied with a delicious shallot thyme sauce, fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus. The waiter did an excellent job with promptness and attentiveness, taking my dietary concerns into consideration and kept me apprised when there was an unexpected delay with the dessert. Also, some good points to the atmosphere: large booths, cozy fireplace, and beautiful lodge setting. However, it feels weirdly out-of-place being right next to Westfield Shopping Center instead of out in the woods or by a river somewhere. Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Value: 4 TL;DR: Excellent dinner in an upscale looking lodge, definitely would come back

4 words -- BREAD PUDDING FRENCH TOAST. When I ordered this for Sunday brunch at Hudson's yesterday, our server looked me square in the eyes and said, "That's happiness on a plate". And so it was. Crispy on the outside, soft and gooey (the good kind) on the inside. Topped with caramelized pears and fresh strawberries. It was THE BOMB. I have no idea about the calories and the fat, and neither do I care. My friends loved their Eggs Benedict and Veggie Omelet. Busy and a little loud, but lots of fun. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Came here last night on a short business trip with 5 people I work with. Let me say the food was 5 stars. Ordered the Gorgonzola cheesecake and crab cakes for an appetizer. who knew cheesecake could come before the meal? Both were insanely good. Dinners included goat cheese stuffed chicken, scallops and pot roast. Nothing but empty plates within about 10 minutes. Dessert was shared- bread pudding, lemon bar and sugar cake. 2 out of 3 were perfection, sugar cake was unimpressive. Only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was the waiter didn't get my order correct twice. Aside from that everything was perfect, a definite redo!

It's a hotel restaurant and over the years I've only eaten at one other that I thought was worth going back to, but this one seems to be at the top as far as food quality goes. I ate here for breakfast two days in a row, Friday and then Saturday. Friday morning wasn't very busy, I got a table and service promptly and my food was at my table pretty quickly. My Eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection; hollandaise sauce was light not goopy like some, perfect thickness of ham, and they added a slice of tomato like I asked. Prices were fairly average aside from the darn cup of black coffee which was $3. All in all a decent breakfast. Saturday I immediately had a slight change of heart. It was busier, so service was understandably slower, but I sat at my table for 5 minutes before I knew anyone knew I was there. By the time my waitress had time for her lovely redheaded table of one, I knew exactly what I wanted- Flat iron steak (medium) and eggs over easy, comes with potatoes and toast (I got an english muffin for $1 more). It took me awhile to notice that my server was doubling as the bartender as well and I ordered a bloody mary. Bloody Mary's are $3 on Saturday. As for my meal, eggs cooked to perfection, steak was overcooked but still ok, bloody mary was decent. Overall, I don't have much to complain about, but service was inconsistent and there are upcharges for silly things. Good meals, nice atmosphere, and a surprise for a hotel restaurant.

This happens to be another one of my favorite happy hour spots. Now, don't think I'm a drunk because I frequent HH; I'm just frugal! If customer service didn't matter so much to me, I would have easily given this place 4 or 5 stars. But time and time again, the service at this place is mediocre at best. The waitresses seem hurried and like they don't enjoy their jobs. The last time I went, I asked the lady who normally takes care of us to take our table and she basically told me the tables were divided and she couldn't. SInce I had family with me, I didn't make it a big deal but she must have talked to the mean waitress b/c she came back sweet as pie. Anyway! The food is great! They have the best burger in Vancouver hands down. Their homemade catsup goes well on everything. The meatloaf sandwich and brussels sprouts are a must. I also enjoy the mussels and calamari. The salmon sliders are also very good. I haven't had anything on the happy hour menu that I haven't liked. They serve a good cabernet on their HH menu. They have a daily drink special on the HH menu as well. I've yet to taste one that I've been able to drink and actually enjoy it. FInally, I enjoy this place because I can take my 11 year old son to HH with me. The way the seating is configured, kids are allowed (only if you're a regular and realize this). So it's nice to go get great food at a great price and not have to worry about what to feed my kid later. 3 stars for bad drinks and poor customer service.

Our favorite Vancouver restaurant. Started with rustic bread and olive oil. Cheap and really good. Then smoked salmon and trout fettuccine and wife had pork chops and both were fantastic. Dessert was like a chocolate decadence with ice cream which is hard to go wrong. With two glasses of house wine, came to about $80. Service was good. They were packed and our waiter was running.

My company held a luncheon here about a month ago and the food was pretty decent, so I decided that I would take my staff out here for our holiday party. Our reservation, made 2-3 weeks in advance was for 1pm today. We arrived pretty early in hopes to getting seated sooner because of how hungry we were, but 1pm came and went as we sat in the lobby waiting for "just a couple of minutes." After watching walk-ins come in and get seated without a wait, we were finally seated at 1:20pm. Once at our table, we waited 10 minutes before the server came. She offered water and asked if anyone wanted anything else to drink. I started off, ordering a Pepsi and then the person next to me ordered one as well. At that point, she said, "Ok, so 2 Pepsis" and then walked off while I had staff with their mouths still open about to order. When she came back with our water and 2 Pepsis, she sat them down briskly and was about to turn around and walk away again when I very quickly said, "Wait, we have more drink orders!" She looked at me with an annoyed look and said, "Well, then what I can I get you?" Finally the drink orders were taken. Almost 10 minutes passed before everyone got their drink and by that time we were ready to order. All of our menus were placed on the table and we waited patiently for her to take our orders. But no, she dropped off the drinks and turned around while I called after her. "Ma'am! Ma'am! We're ready to order!" She didn't even acknowledge me. Instead she went and cleared a nearby table off. Finally, she walked passed us again so one of my employees was able to grab her to take our order. The food came pretty quickly, but two of my employees had ordered the Crab Eggs Benedict and both of their crab cakes were cold in the center. They didn't finish their food (obviously) and so when the server cleared our plates she asked if a to-go box was necessary. My staff gave her a look of, "HECK NO," and declined and she didn't even bother to ask if there was anything wrong with the food. Finally, we got our bill. We were so excited to get it because we thought we'd be able to pay it and leave in a flash. NOPE. The bill read 2:30pm and I looked at the time we got it (2:31pm). I promptly put my credit card in it and then waited... and waited. It was to the point where I wanted to leave because not a single person came by to check on us, even though we all had empty glasses... The server finally returned and picked up our bill at 2:48pm. I gave a very generous 10% due to the fact that I had my staff in front of me and wanted to save face, but if I had been with my family, there would NOT of been a tip. I will NEVER recommend this restaurant again. I am so disappointed.

Went here the other night for a work dinner with clients. In fact, our clients love Hudson's and the Heathman so much that every time they visit (from out of the country) they have to stay here. Dinner was excellent and I wouldn't change a thing! I loved everything I ate and drank and have nothing but high praise for the staff and the kitchen. Kudos to all of you for having an amazing restaurant in a gorgeous location. I can't wait to bring my family back here!

"Money doesn't buy class" or "The Expensive Fake Ski Lodge By The Mall." This place is hateful. TERRIBLE; rude, costly, bad food. I've spent well over $150 just on on dinner/drinks. My family has spent that much on dinner many, many, many times. That's never happening again. Tonight we sat at a table, were ignored for at least 10 minutes, then told to move if we wanted a drink since the "dining room was closing." We only had time for one drink. Politely explained that, the 'bar' is just a sitting area across the floor, and there were plenty of people having drinks and finishing dinners and desserts. Hostess came back and repeated that the manager told us to move across the room if we wanted a drink. "That's our rules." Well, they can keep their rules. RUDE, bad bad non-service, disrespect. Save your money and go elsewhere. Their food is bland and drinks are steeply overpriced anyway. WA state mid-label wines marked up big time, same on cocktails, beers and mediocre food thats bland yet pretentious. Like Gustav's Hofbrau chain, with bad service for 4x the price. Seriously.

My husband had a last minute quick trip to the Portland area and decided to stay in Vancouver because all of the good hotels in PDX were sold out. We ended up here for a glass of wine and nibbles -- the wine was fine. My husband ordered gorgonzola cheesecake with roasted garlic, and artichoke "salad" and "rustic" bread. I thought the "cheesecake" was going to be horribly strong -- it wasn't, but it was still a bit weird. There was no artichoke salad -- just 4 or 5 pieces of canned artichoke. The "rustic" bread was typical sliced french bread with grill marks and no crispiness -- how do you even do that? I ordered the spicy prawns/shrimp. They arrived so overcooked that they were chewy and tough and smelled like a gym bag. They came with over sauteed vegetables in a sauce that literally tasted like raw spices, way too many of them! I sent it back -- it was horrible. Service was friendly. Wouldn't go here for nibbles or meal but would for a drink.

Staying in town for dealer training and many of the employees recommended Hudson's, it was close to our hotel so we gave it a try and are glad we did. We were greeted and seated promptly, our waiter, Steven, brought us water right away and told us the specials, answered any questions we had. Ordered the Carpaccio and loved it. I have had carpaccio many times and this was the best by far. My flat iron steak was grilled to perfection as was my husbands Pork Chop. We both found our potatoes to be slightly undercooked but still delicious. The restaurant had a nice feel to it, cool décor and was clean. The staff were all friendly. We will definitely recommend Hudson's and when in town again will return.

I generally don't expect above average food from small hotel restaurants. This one is tucked inside Heathman Lodge by Vancouver Mall. I had the roast lamb sandwich on a warm soft rustic bread with jazzed up mayo. The vinaigrette salad was a perfect compliment. It had pickled veggies that was cleansing my pallet by taking the edge out of that funky lamb flavor. $13.01 including tax.

I recently visited the Portland area, and stayed at the Heathman Lodge. While I can truly say that the hotel was one of the nicer places I have ever stayed, and was reasonably priced to boot, they really need to rethink the restaurant with which they have partnered. If your idea of gourmet cooking is simply soaking everything in grease, and serving everything with bacon, then this place is for you. If you are a meat-eater, this is a greasy spoon. As a vegetarian, this restaurant is a nightmare. Checking into the hotel, and too tired to go searching for a place to eat on my first night, I ventured into Hudson's. On reviewing the menu, I found that about the only item on the menu that could be considered vegetarian (though not healthy) was the burger, ordered with a "vegetarian patty". When offered sides, neither of the soups available were vegetarian, so I was stuck with French fries. The "burger" was greasy, and of an unidentifiable composition. Needless to say, it was barely edible. On one other occasion, on a happy hour stop at the bar, I made the mistake of ordering a side. The menu stated "Roasted Fingerling Potatoes". I assumed I couldn't go TOO far wrong with that. I assumed wrong. I was presented with potatoes that were not only cooked in grease (hardly "roasted"), but were served on a BED of bacon/ham!!!!!! REALLY? How disgusting! Needless to say, I sent them back. The Heathman Lodge is doing a grave injustice to stay linked to a restaurant that would be considered a greasy spoon, even to a meat-eater. To totally ignore the large number of vegetarians, especially in a progressive area such as Portland, Oregon, is not only insulting, but bad business.

It seems that I can never leave here without spending $80 for two of us, but the food is just that good that you don't always mind. I didn't even know we had such a nice hotel (lodge) in Vancouver. It's not on a main street so I am guessing people know of this place from word of mouth. The restaurant is inside the hotel. We have gone twice during the dinner hour and it was pretty busy. Even the bar was full. You are able to have a drink in the lobby while you wait or just walk around. They have a little gift shop with items to sell...if you are into that. The specials always sound wonderful, but the food on the menu is always great sounding. If you are a big eater, then I recommend ordering a salad or something else because this may not satisfy you. I think a down part is that you have to pay for the bread. I think this is a minus, especially since they charge for the salads as well. When you are spending that much, shouldn't it come with it? My opinion, I guess. Regardless, the food is fantastic and worth trying.

So we've been here a few more times after the last review. It keeps getting worse. It's weird - the food isn't good anymore and the servers/hostesses always seem clueless. We went to breakfast and were seated at a little table (the place was empty) and asked to be in a booth. The hostess said we couldn't be seated there because that wasn't the waitress's section. It was two tables from the table we were going to be sat. The waitress overheard and said to let us sit in the booth. No kidding. I got two eggs over easy and he got eggs benedict. Mine came out scrambled and his was not quite warm. Not cold, but not hot. When I said I ordered my eggs differently, they took the plate away before I could say leave it and at least I can get started eating. They brought back correctly cooked eggs with the rest of my reheated breakfast gross. Anyway, bad experience. Next, we took the fam to dinner there recently and sat in the bar after being unable to get reservations - no prob. It's awkward since it's in the lobby and it was cold, but again our fault for not making reservations earlier. So we got the forest mushrooms and cheesecake appetizer. Cheesecake is delicious. It's totally awesome and I've had it before. My biggest gripe is that they are seriously so cheap that they recommend ordering extra bread because the three pieces they give you usually aren't enough. Instead of getting extra bread for free. Really? Okay, so the mushrooms that came were slimy and BUTTON mushrooms, or some normal white variety NOT forest mushrooms, and not nice and brown and crispy like you'd think when the word "sizzling" is involved. We've had this appetizer before and it was actually browned yummy FOREST mushrooms (wild varieties). Hubby got lobster mac and cheese that tasted like undercooked pasta with a watered down boxed cheese sauce. It was horrible. I would have sent it back; he didn't. Dover sole meal was underseasoned and tasted old, maybe freezer burned, with very little sauce. I love greens and love that they serve so many, but mine were so drenched in butter I could hardly eat them. My scallops also had a metallic aftertaste. I think the smoked chicken chowder, pear/blue cheese salad and center cut steak were winners. They get the two stars. Won't be back unless it's for happy hour only.

After a long day in the forest, the food here was an appropriate finale for dinner. But it's definitely a little bit on the higher side on the prices. The quantities on the plate are small. Morning breakfast with hard fried eggs and potatoes was nice. But what stood out as exceptionally good was their French toast. It was one of the best ones I ever had.

We ate here on a Sunday morning and was very impressed. Bloody marys for $3 to start off and my wife had the Dungeness crab eggs benedict while I had the standard eggs, potatoes and bacon meal. The bacon was perfect and the eggs benedict was a hit as well. We will be back to enjoy Sunday morning breakfast here again for sure.

First time but definitely not the last time visiting this place! Sometimes it can be difficult to find somewhat healthy food during happy hour but Hudson's had a nice selection. The $5 happy hour portions are generous. I loved the organic iceberg wedge and mussels. Th steamed mussel's broth was delicious. I had to eat the broth like soup.....yummy. The asparagus salad was just okay. I was wondering why the chopped egg was added to this salad. It didn't seem to add any flavor or texture. I did like the pickled red onion. I had the pomegranate margarita. I should not have chosen that with my diet leaning more toward sugar-free. It was a bit sweet. My next drink was the $5 wine special Cabernet which was a better choice. Our server was warm and friendly. The bar was located in the lobby. It took a little while to adjust to the dark atmosphere. I like the rustic decor.

Breakfast review: We were seated promptly and they even let our large group pick the table we wanted to sit at and made adjustments for the seating. The menu has a good variety of breakfast items and everyone in our group of 7 was happy. Unfortunately the service was slow-- they had too many large groups seated at once perhaps. But our meal was served up HOT and the orders correct. We'll give them another try for sure.

Not really sure why it's taken me so long to review Hudson's. It's by far one of the Best all around restaurants in Vancouver! Although we mostly come here for Sunday brunch. The smoked salmon skillet is my favorite brunch dish. For $11 the quality and portion is bargain! I always leave with a to-go box with enough for a next day breakfast! My husband loves the green chili & egg scramble, which was surprising to me... no meat!? On Sundays the Mimosas and Bloody Mary's are $3. It's been awhile since we've done dinner here, but the dinner entree I most remember is the Lobster Ravioli. We also haven't made it here for happy hour yet... Service is always good, drinks are always good. A Vancouver Gem!

First time here, enjoyed the rustic, but rather elegant decor. Very nice menu choices. There were six people in our party, and when our food arrived, two of us had plates of barely lukewarm food. We were assured the food would be replated - it was microwaved and returned to us. The excuse given was that the salmon was thick, which did not explain the barely warm polenta and veg. Disappointing.

  • Rob F.

The food was very good. The gorgonzola cheesecake was recommended by our server, and it was the highlight for sure. The rib-eye lacked seasoning and the shrimp that came with it was in some sort of onion soup (not appealing). I had the caesar salad and it was perfect! All in all, a very nice meal, with good atmosphere and the server was helpful, friendly and professional. I would have to say though that it is a $$$ for pricing. Our bill was $91 with a shared meal and a couple of drinks. I would recommend and will return!

The wine list by the glass needed better for a high- end place. The soup was ok, but not out of the ordinary. The pork shoulder was tough but slow cooking would have made it tender. The fennel purée topping was cold. Didn't have dessert.

I've been staying at the Heathman Lodge for the past couple of days so I've had the pleasure of dining at Hudson's three times now. First of all, it's absolutely gorgeous in that woodsy log cabin way - tall ceilings, a roaring fire and cozy Christmas decorations. I've also been consistently impressed with how chipper and upbeat all of their waitstaff is. The cheer factor was off the charts, to the point where I wondered if they were taking shots or something in the back between orders! For lunch I had the chicken corn chowder and the baby beet salad. I really liked the soup, though I've definitely had better beet salads. Then we came back to the bar/lounge area in the lobby for happy hour, where they offered several appetizing dishes including hummus, a pate dish, and a pulled pork quesadilla for $5. For dinner that same night, I had the butternut squash ravioli, the night's special, and it was spectacular... I loved that it was topped with pecans, a great touch. I had a taste of my neighbor's scallops, and they were divine as well. I did think it was odd that they didn't offer a bread basket. Instead, they make you pay for a grilled bread dish with some oil and vinegar and three slices of bread. For the prices on the menu I definitely think some free bread is necessary! My one star off is for the lack of bread and the looooooong wait we had at dinner. Our waiter was super attentive at first, getting us all set with drinks and menus, but then after a while he just disappeared, and we ended up waiting almost half an hour before we could place our orders. Part of this may have been because he was distracted by having to go back to the kitchen and check on a few things for one of our party who has a serious peanut allergy. That was my final complaint, by the way - this person has to check the ingredients on everything every time she eats because her allergy is that sensitive, but they didn't have any ingredient information on their bread, pasta, or really anything else. When asked, the waiter said there were definitely no peanuts in anything and that nothing was made in the same facility as peanuts. But how could he know that when they don't even keep the containers of the stuff that they use? We urged him to check to make sure and when he did he came back with nothing. I thought it was a bit irresponsible of him to assure a diner with a serious allergy that it was fine when he wasn't sure of that at all. But for the average diner who doesn't have allergies and doesn't mind a bit of a wait once in a while, my food was delicious, the service was friendly and the atmosphere couldn't be beat. So I highly recommend it!

Impressive dining room. Great service. Exceptional food. Hudson's is the restaurant inside the Heathman Lodge, the hotel we're staying at during our visit to Vancouver. I usually avoid hotel restaurants like the plague--they're often high-priced and substandard. Hudson's was a delightful surprise, to say the least. I would eat at Hudson's even if we weren't staying at the Lodge. For breakfast, I ordered the roast beef hash. Girlfriend got pan-seared scallops with poached eggs. Both dishes were beautiful upon presentation and tasted even better than they looked. The prices were higher than your typical breakfast fare but well worth it. We'll be back!

Hudson's Bar and Grill is a restaurant that is part of the Heathman Lodge - a Pacific Northwest lodge-style hotel that is seemingly out of place next to office parks and the Vancouver Mall. The restaurant continues on this theme - with a large Native American mural and a handmade log canoe thrown in for good measure. The dining room is fairly tightly clustered and functional. The service was a little unpolished for a fine dining establishment (note to hostess - don't address your guests as "you guys"), but was prompt and friendly overall. Their Sunday brunch menu is what drew me in; I came for the promise of Dungeness Crab Cake Eggs Benedict but ended up trying the Lobster and Brie Omelette (which wasn't on their online menu). The lobster omelette was stuffed with a suprising amount of lobster claw meat, brie and roasted mushrooms. The waitress purported this omelette to be "divine" and she wasn't that far off. Unfortunately, the rest of our meals weren't anything special with fairly mundane chowder, bacon, home fries and toast. Hudson's supposedly uses freshly squeezed orange juice, but we couldn't taste the difference in our mimosas. The prices are reasonable for what you get - making Hudson's a good choice for breakfast if you happen to be in the area.

I had the meatball pappardelle which doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore. The meatballs were excellent as was the pasta but the saffron sauce was a little too bland. It really needed something to up the flavor. Great service and atmosphere... surprising for a restaurant at a hotel. Something needs to be done about the noise though. It is quite loud for a "fancy" restaurant.

The food was decent and fairly priced but the service was horrible! We went as a group of about 10 for brunch on a Saturday. Reservations were made ahead of time and when we got there, we were seated right away. It took about 10 minutes for our server to come and introduce herself, bring us water and take our drink orders. Looking around, there was maybe 1 or 2 more tables with 2 other servers, so they were not busy at all. The entire time she was standing at our table, not once did she smile or ask how we were doing. I mean I don't care if you don't smile but at least be pleasant. Pleasant she was not. When asked if we wanted to place our food orders, we stated that we were waiting for one more person to show up so we were going to hold off until they arrived. Needless to say our server was not pleased. Not give minutes later, she came back and asked again if we were ready to order. Yet again, we told her that we were still waiting. One of the members of our group then proceeded to ask if she could order something to start with and our server just gave her attitude. Long story short, we decided to go ahead and order even though our friend still had not shown up. Our server kept on rushing us to order so we felt like we had to do it just to keep her from spitting in our food. When someone from our group asked why the hurry, were they closing soon or was her shift ending, our server simply replied "No, I'm here to the bitter end!" Now that is not what I call customer service. I plan on filing a complaint with the hotel and restaurant management and do not plan on going back there anytime soon!!

My family and I ate here on a Thursday night. I honestly think this is the nicest restaurant in Vancouver. We each ordered something different. We shared calamari, which was good, the dipping sauces were great. We also received bread, olive and whole wheat, with a zesty olive oil dipping sauce. Me-Pork Cheeks and Mushroom Risotto-I really enjoyed my meal and the portion was large Fiance-Steak and Lobster Mac and Cheese-his steak was slightly over-cooked, but his mac and cheese was more like a stuffed pasta with an entire lobster claw on top-he really liked it Sister-Lobster Ravioli-she ate every bite except the capers, she said they didn't impact the flavor too much, there were just too many to eat Dad-Goat Cheese stuffed Chicken-he ate every bite Mom-Pot Roast-she was the only one not satisfied with her meal, she said the spinach was great, but the pot roast was bland We got Creme Brulee and a chocolate cake for dessert. They were both delicious. Our meal was a little pricey, but this would be a great place for a special occasion or nice night out.

First off, the address of above is wrong. It's 7805 NE Greenwood Drive NOT 7801. Second, I had high hopes for this place but was disappointed on my last meal. My first day I order a Reuben which was great. Very tasty. And my last meal here was a not so appetizing salmon omelet. It's really a hit or miss whatever you order at this place. But I was assured by the waitress everything was delicious she could not have been more wrong. I would come back and try some more sandwiches but that's as far as I'll go.

We went there for Sunday brunch after Thanksgiving. We were excited with all the endorsement stickers from various culinary institutions on the outside window. We were underwhelmed. My wife's smoked chicken omelette was on the dry side, the home fry potatoes was ordinary, and all the toasts were dry and needed a lot more butter. My green chili scramble was not bad, but hardly beat average food. The prices were not too bad. The best part was probably the fresh squeezed fruit juices.

Excellent. The food was perfectly prepared and unexpectedly gourmet for Vancouver where franchise eateries are preferred by the gourmand crowd by a 25:1 ratio. If you are looking for accessible Northwest cuisine, this is the place (accessible meaning combinations and pairings of food, preparation style and accompaniments that work and don't turn ones GI tract like dipping fries in ranch dressing)!! They also have a great Sunday Brunch

Saturday night. Parking lot was jammed with cars. Carolers were on the stairs. Piano player was excellent. Host sat me right away as I waited for the rest of my party. Our server was friendly, and efficient. He did a wonderful job. We had Gorgonzola cheesecake, calamari and two salads, then all four of us ladies shared four amazing entrees, including the goat cheese stuffed chicken breast. It was fantastic. I have never had a bad meal here. The pot roast was a bit on the dry side though, but we ate it anyway. Nice job and we love the upside down tree. Thanks!

We decided to eat at Hudson's because we were staying in the Heathman Lodge. Our 11-year old son was with us, so the upscale, cuisine-y dining room was improbable. Luckily, we were able to grab a table at the Fireside Lounge. AND it was happy hour, so everything was $5 per plate. The fries were okay, the onion rings were good, but nothing to write home about. The calamari was forgettable. The White Cheddar Burger however, was the freaking bomb. HOLY COW!!!! Best. Burger. Ever. However, I don't really "get" Hudsons. There's a dining room, where you can order off of the entree menu and you can't order from the bar menu. In the bar and in the fireside lounge, you can order off of both menus. Wha? Maybe it has to do with the fact that the fireside lounge was PACKED (happy hour, duh) and the waitress was definitely harried. Plus the piano was loud enough for a football stadium. Loud enough to give me a headache and make me antsy. So this would be a 3 star review, if it weren't for that burger. Writing about it is making me hungry. I think I'm going to be forced to have one for lunch tomorrow.

Every once in a while, family and/or friends come to visit. Choices in Vancouver for a higher end kinda place and one that won't break the bank are hard to come by. I discovered Hudson's (in the Heathman Lodge) before I even moved here. Ambience is great and wait staff is attentive. Food, especially breakfast is very good and affordable. During the rainy season, the large fireplace is well lit and the upscale dining room is big without being noisy. The perfect place to converse and still have a great meal. When I come for breakfast, I usually get the corned beef hash. Not nearly as good as my own homemade stuff, but some of the best i've ever eaten in a restaurant. Bar is available for cocktails and the menu has many choices for great food. At Christmas time, the interior of the lodge is a covered in lights and trees and makes a very festive locale. Its ultimately the place I go when I want to impress visitors on the nicer things in the 'couv. And across from the entry, don't miss the koi pond. Largest koi i've ever seen which can immediately put you in that tranquil place before you enter the restaurant or before you return to your car after engaging in your food coma experience at the restaurant..

We were at the lodge for a party and came down for Happy Hour. Try the Salmon Sliders, Bread with Dipping Sauce and Corn Chowder - you will not be disappointed. Service was EXCELLENT - Our bartender went above and beyond to make us happy. She knew we were starving and got us going on food and drink right away. Her "lemonade" was out of this world by the way. All I can say is, Boy did they make me HAPPY! Thank you Hudson Grill - YOU ARE AWESOME!!!

Part of Hudson's Lodge, a unique lodge type hotel with nice simple Pacific Northwest influences, but clean and friendly, with a comfortable feel of subdued elegance in a casual atmosphere. Exquisitely prepared comfort food in a classy style without being pretentious. New York Steak pepper encrusted; delicious upscale Pot Roast in large portions, Salmon, seafood specials, etc. Nice presentation. Good place for 2 couples to relax and enjoy. Has many good value local wines, and McCallum 18 for you single malt scotch drinkers.

OMG. This has to be the best place in Vancouver to eat! The meal started off with chicken corn chowder. This was velvety smokey garlic flavor with a hint of heat. Very well balanced... Heaven. The steamers were the perfect quarter size.. Yummy but needed more garlic and wine! The crab risotto had fresh tasting crab.. Wished it was more creamy, but great seafood mushroom flavor. The portobello ravioli with basil was a palette's delight. The crab cakes tasted like pure fresh crab. Watching meals come out of the kitchen.. A foodies dream- I really wanted to find something to bitch about... Not going to happen here. Tonight they were spot on! My only complaint is the noise.. Hard to carry on a conversation. The waitress was great, allowing us to order one item at a time.. Eating around the menu. Each finished dish led to another more spectacular culinary delight! Bravo to the kitchen!! Can't wait to try other tempting meals.. And the bread pudding with homemade carmel...ooooooo!!! The MaryHill Chardonnay Hudson label has a light oaky taste and creamy. Worth the $30 per bottle- very reasonable. The bill was $140 with wine but worth every penny!

This place is absolutely delicious and the decor at this restaurant is delightful. If you want to have a great breakfast or brunch experience in the 'Couve, stop by at this location. The Heathman Lodge is a lovely hotel to begin with, so you'll enjoy the Hudson. I always order the french toast with a side of bacon and ALWAYS want more of it. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The prices on food were reasonable too.

I was trying to find a nice dinner place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday but I was having issues making a decision because he wouldn't tell me what he wanted for dinner. In the end we chose this place because we were going to be in Vancouver to see a movie and Hudson's wasn't too far away from the theatre. I was a little wary when we arrived and saw that it was inside of the Heathman Lodge, because sometimes hotel restaurants are not very good. However, our dinner at Hudson's was perfect. Our server was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to accommodate us. I ordered their seafood stew, which came with a perfectly seared jumbo scallop and lots of shrimp, salmon, clams and mussels. I loved their seasoning, although it was a little bit spicy, so if you can't handle spice at all, I wouldn't recommend it. My boyfriend ordered their salmon and thoroughly enjoyed his plate as well. He even ate the brussel sprouts that came with it, which is an impressive feat since he swears up and down he hates them. Another thing I really liked is that even though the restaurant was really busy and quite loud, since the booths have such high backed seats they block out the noise - we were able to talk without shouting! I had some trouble deciding between four or five stars for this place, but since we couldn't think of one thing we would have changed about our dinner, I decided to go with five.

I've only been to Hudson's for holiday buffets. With that said, this place has amazing holiday buffets!! With the rustic lodge atmosphere decorated for the holidays, it's a fabulous experience!

I recently moved to Vancouver, WA. I've lived in Portland, OR almost all my life and know we have a lot of really nice places to eat in Portland. Since I've moved to Vancouver, I have yet to discover a restaurant that impressed me. The only decent ones are your local chain restaurants, including Burger King, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc (and that's not saying much at all). Last night, I wanted to go somewhere nice and hopefully, close to my house in Vancouver. I vaguely heard about the restaurant inside the Heathman Lodge so was pleased to accidentally come across it (Hudson's) during my search on Yelp of local places to eat within the Vancouver, WA. The food was excellent and I would have to agree with another Yelp reviewer that this is probably the best restaurant in Vancouver. The atmosphere, service, and food was very good and the prices reasonable (not cheap though--we spent $100). Our waiter was Burt and he was very professional, friendly, and attentive. He did a wonderful job with his recommendations regarding the dinner entrees. My date LOVED his dinner. I enjoyed my dinner selection and fell madly in love with the bread pudding we had at the end. You can definitely taste the butter in the croissant they used in the bread pudding--YUMMMM! I would have definitely given this a "5-star" rating except my date ended up waking up in the middle of the night feeling very sick in the stomach. He was in a lot of pain for hours and ended up throwing up his entire meal (nice detail, huh?). He didn't eat anything prior to (and after) our dinner so I'm afraid perhaps it had something to do with the lobster in his delicious macaroni. I only tasted the pasta and didn't eat any of the lobster. It was the only thing I didn't eat and since didn't get sick... I can't imagine it being anything else. So yeah.. I guess the food here was so good that regardless of my date getting sick in the stomach (it didn't happen to me!), I would still give this place "4-stars". However, when I return here (as I plan on returning) and somebody gets sick again.. I may have to re-evaluate my score. Final thought--I LOVE the hours here as I work long hours and have a hard time finding nice places that are still open for service after 9 pm.

I had the best hamburger of my life here (off the bar menu) they have hands down some of the best food this side of town. Expect to pay an arm and a leg though, this is quality with a price tag to match.

We hadn't been here for a while and I wanted a good steak which, I have to say, I have had some trouble finding in Vancouver. So, I had the flat iron steak and it was very good. I like my meat rare and it was rare which does not always happen. The accompanying fingerling potatoes and the spinach/bacon/onion mixture was delicious. My husband had the scallops and he said they were the best scallops he's had since we moved here 3 years ago. He did think that $28 for 3 scallops was a little pricey however, even though they were good sized. The house merlot is by Maryhill and it was quite nice also. Altogether a good meal, good service and good wine. The only distraction was the piano which seemed a little loud for a relaxing dinner. But, we will definitely go back.

I don't think I've ever been to a place where the decor and ambiance was 10 times over what the actual patrons were wearing. It had a steakhouse feel with casual attire. Perfect. Wine, seafood, a canoe on the wall. This is exactly what I expected from Vancouver, WA! Beware: the lobster ravioli is TINY so make that your appetizer, not your main course!

Hudson's has been a favorite for breakfast in the past, but after this morning's experience, don't think we'll be returning for awhile. Reasons that Elmer's would have been a better choice: Very fast coffee and beverage service (Hudson's took a long time to serve); Actually has all the items listed on their menu (Hudson's waitress said they ran out of French toast yesterday and wouldn't have whole wheat toast "until our bread guy comes this morning.") Pancakes are served hot (Hudson's waitress argued that the reason the butter wouldn't melt was that the butter was so cold); Heated maple syrup and a berry syrup are served with the pancakes; When asked if the sausage is link or patty, wait staff knows the difference. The Heathman brand is usually a mark of high quality, but someone is obviously not paying attention to the details at this location.

We brought a group of eight, with a reservation, to Hudson's Bar & Grill on a Wednesday for lunch. The restaurant was not full when we arrived, but became full the longer we sat there. I ordered the Tillamook Cheeseburger and my wife ordered the crab cakes with a salad. We passed the 45 minutes time it took the food to arrive with small talk. My cheeseburger was dry and cooked very hard. I realize there are health concerns in cooking beef, but does it have to be a rock? The entire sandwich had a bitter taste which may have been the sharpness of the Tillamook cheese. Whatever it was it was not very tasty. Clearly a $20 burger should be better than this. My wife's crab cakes arrived burnt on one side and the salad was plain Jane. It seems Hudson's kitchen is understaffed at lunch. I have to say that the banquet side of the house is extremely good. I have never had a bad meal from the banquet chef. Return to Hudson's Bar & Grill anytime soon? I think not.

Great food, in good sized portions that are worth the price. Even though it's a bit too "fancy" for my tastes, I've enjoyed the Salmon and Steaks here for years. It's got a quiet type of rustic atmosphere, good for small groups and couples. Hudson's also does the catering for meetings and events in the hotel. They have a full bar, and an extensive wine list.

Great place for Happy Hour! The happy hour specials are a little pricey, but the food they offer and the drink selections make up for it. This is the first place I have been to in the Portland area that serves beef carpaccio (my favorite hors d'ouevre, although I didn't order it this time) and serves it as a happy hour option. The ambiance is very inviting with chairs and tables spread out across the hotel lobby circling the huge fireplace. Had the grilled bread with olive oil to begin with; the olive oil and bread had olives scattered throughout. Next was the calamari; cooked perfectly with rings and tentacles served with a sweet and spicy thai sauce. My spouse had the burger with Tillamook cheddar; the burger was super juicy and cooked perfectly at medium. My daughter had the mac and cheese, which came out pipping hot (too hot initially for her little mouth) and cheese was stringing at every bite. Was a little unsure about how relaxing an atmosphere this grill would be for jeans and a small child based on website photos; ended up being wrong although most patrons were dressed in dressy casual clothes.

A favorite of mine for lunch or a cozy dinner with my wife. The food is excellent and consists of regular menu items (chicken corn chowder) and seasonal offerings. The wait staff is top notch.

This is our go-to "nice" place in town. Without the kids or with the kids+grandparent's, we are there. Especially love the happy hour at the bar where the food hits straight from the grill. The sizzling mushrooms are incredible, the wedge salad is delish, and that burger can be outstanding at times. Plus, their Widmer Hef on tap is spot-on every time. Unfortunately, their menu gets stale after awhile.

We went for lunch, prices were about $12-$16 for entrees and the portions were reasonable. The decor was very upscale lodge (lots of big wood planks). I had the goat cheese ravioli in a savory olive sauce which were very good if a bit heavy. My companion had a Ruben and proclaimed it the best he had ever had, with perfectly toasted bread, carefully layered and very fresh ingredients. Service was excellent.

We went on a Thursday night. Resturant was not too busy and we were sat right away. Server was ok. Not supr friendly, but fast and curtious. Food was good. They didn't have the soup my husband wanted, to the server bought him another kind and it was free. Portions were decent. Salmon was excellent. My husband loved the pepper new york steak. Deserts were also very good. Decent portions for the price. All and all a decent experiences
