This is the first time I've ever had a cheesesteak so I may not be the most authritative source on the matter but I will be eating there many more times. As soon as I pulled up I could smell the food. The place is pretty small with seating for about 6 or 7 people. The guys working there were cool, I got to chat with them for a bit while they made my food. I didn't get to talk for long though because my sandwich was ready to go in just a couple minutes. I got the steak sandwich wit (not a typo, that's how it looks on the menu) onions and mozzarella and it was absolutely one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted! And man, was it greasy. I'm talkin' soaked through the two layers of paper it was wrapped in plus the bag but I hear that's what good cheesesteaks are supposed to be like, no complaints here, I like being able to see through my paper. Fantastic food and service, the location's close to work, and the staff was great!

OK, so they moved from Pioneer Square to Georgetown with another location in the financial district of DT Seattle. I had been driving to Burien from Bellevue for a good cheesesteak at Paesano's until they closed, so what's a few more miles? Well worth the trip! They have limited Saturday hours (noon to 3). The Georgetown location is a sliver of a building with a walk up window and outdoor seating and two friendly guys manning the joint. My provolone wit cheesesteaks were ready in minutes and delivered with a broad smile. Excellent! Filled to overflowing with chopped steak, melted cheese, and sautéed onions was the perfect roll - just like in Philly. So good, in fact, I ordered another one to go to take to my mother-in-law who is recovering from surgery and is desperate need of high calorie, high protein foods. Boy, was I a hit walking in the door with that carefully wrapped cheesesteak!

In an odd, hard to park location. I parked in the "motel" lot attached. Was posted all over that I shouldn't, but felt safe since it was a walk up. Menu is as expected. Order the Donnie I believe, mushroom cheese-steak Jarred Mushrooms, YUCK! Could be just me, but for the price I definitely expected fresh grilled mushrooms. Expensive and I didn't like. .

Really good cheesesteaks. It's mostly walk-up/take-out; but there are a few seats inside and a couple picnic tables outside for non-rainy days. The lines can get long, and it's not a great place to just stand around waiting for food. Prices are inline with other cheesesteak places in Seattle. I don't mean to pick on anybody; but there's a short guy who works the skillet. Imagine a short grandma driving with her arms above her head. It's kinda like that. Nothing to do with the food; but I couldn't stop watching him work...

Calozzi's probably makes the best cheesesteaks in Washington. With that being said, I think they got my order wrong and for some reason I can only eat a half before the taste and the texture become unappetizing. It's the strangest thing. The first half of the sandwich is spectacular, but the second half is absolutely awful and I never finish it. Weird. I ordered my half whiz and half provolone with onions, which came to about $11.00 including tax. If you take your food to-go, don't worry about it getting cold, because they wrap it up nice and tight. I drove about an hour down to Olympia and it was still warm. This location is somewhat difficult to locate. It's WAY down Marginal Way in the Georgetown district/neighborhood of Seattle. If you reached the Museum of Flight then you went too far. It's tucked away towards the back of a small, shady-looking motel. Not quite sure why they chose this location, because the parking is atrocious, but it seems to work for them.

Absolutely fantastic! They do one thing and they do it extremely well. They do have a few options of Cheesesteaks though. Not much sitting room and you have to park on the street, but the food is worth it!

Very solid. 5-star is tough for any cheesesteak joint but Calozzi's comes fairly close. A bit on the pricey side and they could do a better job with their outdoor seating in proximity to the dumpsters but otherwise fantastico. I feel like John's Roast Pork in South Philly sets the highest bar (true 5-star cheesesteak joint IMO). This ain't that but it's in the ballpark. Really liked the Roni. Extra peppers & onions is highly recommended.

Best cheesesteaks outside of Philly. I don't have to say anything else. They make 1 thing and they do it right. They also avoid trying to improve a classic with pretentious extras.

Not only is this a great place to get a cheese steak, but it's also one of the friendliest and most welcoming places you will find. The owners, Al and Jenny, work tirelessly nearly every day making sure every person who walks in their door is treated right and served a great meal. The menu is simple with a few variations on the classic cheese steak with choices of cheese and other toppings available. My personal favorite is the pepperoni steak with provolone and then I add some sriracha sauce to it for a little extra kick. The pepperoni comes straight from Salumi so you know it's good and all their ingredients are high quality and prepared to order. The location is a little off the beaten path compared to their downtown restaurant, but it's definitely worth the trip.

Oh laaaawwwd! Greasey, messy, and fake cheese whiz?! Ain't nothing wrong with that at all! I've never been to Philly but I imagine this is what it taste like! Taste: 5/5 If you're a health nut, or worried about your figure this is not the place for you. It's a huge sandwich, drips oil, is covered in cheese and probably is the closest thing to a heart attack on a bun. It is absolutely fantastic. The 'Donnie' was superb!!! Value: 5/5 $10 for a sandwich is a little much, but I would pay that price every single time for a cheese steak of this caliber! The sandwich could probably feed two people!!! But I'm greedy so I wouldn't share mine with anyone :) Service: 5/5 Cashier was nice, but the food came out in like 2 minutes!!!! That's faster than most fast food joints!!! I ordered to go, but the place is pretty small, street parking, and takes card. I would come here multiple times a week if it was closer! I'm definitely enamored with the place!!!!!!

Hey YO, for all you knuckle heads that think Philly is the epicenter for all things cheesesteak, well think again! I've been to Geno's , Pat's & Tony Luke's in Philly so Frank knows his cheesesteaks. Now I decided to give these guys a chance an strolled in for a taste today and ordered. My usual the Philly Steak, provolone cheese and onions. ( if you screw this up you should close your shop ) I had very high expectations based on YELP reviews but I can only give a 3 star review. Meat was dry and not a lot of cheese. In fact they should have placed the provolone on top. I need to add salt to my beef to give flavor. Bread was awesome so it was the money. Maybe if they worked on flavor content if might bump up a star but you gotta be damn God for the 5 star Frank review. Not many options to deal with since they only sell Cheesesteak, chips and soda by the bottle. Price is average at $10 per sandwich. And the place is small but clean and even a few outside tables for spring / summer dining. Id say come if you like cheesesteaks but keep an open mind. Bring that statue of Rocky Balboa to Seattle and place it in front of the our church of cheesesteaks! Let the Cheesesteak do the talking!!!

The masses don't lie! CRAZY FAST service (had sandwich in what felt like 2 minutes and GENUINE FRIENDLY service from the owner/operator. Enough has been said about the food and I can't argue with anyone on the flavor...really great.

There are times in life when you have a work meeting and everyone heads to the same two or three places for lunch break, and you just have to head somewhere different. Today was one of those days. With the new mobile Yelp app view, I saw a juicy burger on the front page, but no takeout. Looking on the map, I saw they were close enough by, so I figured why not... Atmospherically, it feels genuine walking in. And the attitude and simplicity of the place is perfect. You don't need frills, just meat and cheese. No bull. Just meat and cheese. Yelp gives them one dollar sign for price, but if you're getting a soda and chips, expect to pay about $15 total. But about the food: recently, I had a very commercialized cheesesteak from a local chain that was less than pleasing. Here? Real deal. Messy, meaty, and full of whiz and wonder. When you lift up a sandwich and the meat just falls out so you have to scoop it up with your chips? There is no better feeling. I have died and gone to heaven. But thankfully, I'm not dead so I can go back for lunch another time.

  • Joe B.

I wouldn't want to do that every day. Well, that's not entirely true. I would like to but I don't think that is a very wise thing. The cheesesteak from Calozzi's is excellent. The beef is tender, the onions are perfectly cooked and the bun is correct. This IS an authentic Philly style cheesesteak and I'm lucky enough to have it within a mile of my work. I will not go every day but I will add it to my list of weekday lunch places, for sure!

My friend told me about this place and I checked it out on Yelp. Georgetown definitely has a gem. The only downside is the place is small, but I think they will expand in the future. So down to business. I always order the pepper steak with the wiz sauce. You must get the Wiz! It's messy, but it's a explosion of flavors in your mouth. Food porn would be the best way to define their perfectly put together cheesesteak.

We enjoyed the cheesesteaks at the downtown shop so much that we thought we'd try this location today! It's fun to sample local hotspots when we travel!! So delicious!! I wish we had one of these in Palm Springs!!!

  • Young C.

I've always been a loyal Calozzis patron since they had one location in Pioneer square. At first I thought it was the juicy af cheesesteaks that kept bringing me back, but the brothers who own calozzis are the real winners. Always a good service and good consistent steak sandwiches. People complain that It's too greasy but they actually use EVOO. Get the Donnie with the cherry peppers. FIRE

I saw the restaurant so I decided to give it a try. It was an excellent choice on my part. I ordered a cheese steak with onions and the cheese whiz. It was awsome. I will definitely come back again.

I haven't eaten a legit cheesesteak from Philly, I hope to try one some day but the cheesesteaks here were pretty bomb! It's a really small place that you easily drive by. The workers here are extremely friendly! I got the Roni and I was stuffed. You can't go wrong with steak and pepperoni! I was satisfied and would come back again to try the other items.

  • Johnny N.

Definitely worthy of the (at this time) 5-star average review. My only preference (that's not worth taking off even a half star) is to actually have more onions/mushrooms and less meat (yes folks, there's a LOT of meat). No skimping here. Simple but delicious menu. Basically 2 variables to choose from (cheese? yes/no onions?) and 3 additions (mushrooms, pizza sauce, or pepperoni). I like my steak & mushroom wit onions and provolone.

    (5)
  • Francesca V.

Really yummy! The kind of yummy you feel guilty about after eating but it was worth it. Service was friendly and fast. Hubby and I both ordered ours with mushroom, peppers onion and provolone and it was awesome. The location is a hole in the wall with very limited seating but look past that and it's an excellent place for lunch.

First off I was a huge fan of Hey Piason in Burien before it went out of business. I truly thought I'd never get a real philly cheesesteak again. Then along came Calozzi's and now I have a new favorite place. These sandwiches are perfect. There are 40 other reviews telling you the exact same thing so I must be right. The location itself is small but perfect for what they are doing. You aren't coming here for a 3 course meal you are coming for the sandwich and maybe a soda. Parking is easy, lots of street parking. The shady motel its hooked to looks closed down so don't worry about getting solicited by some lady looking to charge you by the hour. As stated before they do run out of some ingredients and I wouldn't even bother calling ahead for pick up orders. The food is prepared fast and it will take you longer to get their then it will take for them to make it. You don't want soggy sandwiches! If you are looking for a good Philly this is the place to be. Also be warned they aren't open past 4 and are closed weekends .This is a lunch only establishment!

  • Ryan L.

This place hands down has the best cheesesteak i've ever had. It was also the first time i had cheese whiz on a cheesesteak and I have to admit, i'm sold. Its greasy, cheezy, loaded with meatz! They dont skimp! Definitely worth the $10. I've gone back here a few times already. The place is small, it really is meant for takeout. The staff has always been friendly and cool. Its definitely worth the trip that I take from Bellevue to Seattle for lunch.

  • Kimberly S.

Definitely a good cheesesteak big enough for my husband and I to share. We got the donnie (mushroom cheesesteak) with half provolone and half cheese wiz. I think it comes down to personal preference but the cheese wiz was almost too strong and the provolone was too light - I think I'll try cheddar next time. The bread was perfect (but gets soggy fast if you don't eat it right away) and the meat was perfectly cooked. Good sandwich and worth the drive to Georgetown. Go early or they may run out of sandwiches. We got the last donnie at around 3:15 - 45 minutes before closing.

  • Candi K.

This place has great cheesesteaks. Its a easy walk from work and sometimes come here for lunch. Usually I can only eat half because once I get a few bites into the 2nd half I get so full. My favorite is the mushroom w/ wiz. They have like 8 different styles of cheesesteaks to get. Its so gooey and gets messy but its so delicious that you don't care. Don't be afraid to get cheese on your face, just embrace it but it'll happen. The bread they use is also really good.

  • Vik M.

Outstanding Philly cheese steaks! They run out of food early all the time, so it is best to get there pretty early. The hours are a bit inconvenient for most schedules, unless you work in the area and can hit them up for lunch! The location is hidden in a residential street and parking is strictly street. The service is FAST and very friendly. In my experience it was one guy cooking and ringing up the order. Multi-tasking at its best. ALSO WHIZ CHEESE IS AN OPTION!

  • Erin J.

I have tried coming here on a few different occasions, and they are always closed because they ran out of ingredients to make the sandwiches (a sign has always been posted on the door to that effect). Their hours are already pretty terrible, especially for those working traditional 9-5 jobs, but try coming half an hour before closing any given afternoon (closing being an early 4pm) and you're bound to find them already closed. I've given up trying to give them my business.

Very good. Had it with half cheese whiz and the other half provolone. The whiz was the biz

  • Aaron J.

Damn. Good. Sandwich. It could be that I'm not eating a lot these days getting my breakfasts and dinners from a blender, but that was a fantastically delicious lunch. I'll tell you what was so fantastic about it. Simple- the menu and the sandwiches themselves. I ordered a cheese steak with onions and whiz. That's what I got. The bread supported the load of thinly sliced moist steak and perfectly melted cheese whiz. Don't be afraid of the whiz. Don't ask what it is made of. Just eat it. It's magical. I also grabbed a sweet cherry pepper from the condiment counter. Taking a small bite here and there while taking on the sandwich provided the perfect compliment to the sandwich. The only gripe might be the small accommodation for indoor seating. That removes a star from their six star rating, so we will call it good at five stars!

I stumbled into this place, literally - there's a step up right when you walk in the door that I didn't see. I composed myself to see the owner looking amused at my clumsiness. He greeted me super warmly and gave me a moment to check out the menu, which didn't take long! I got the cheesesteak 'wit' provolone. I ate in as I didn't have any trouble parking, there's plenty of free street parking around. My sandwich was quickly ready and was full of delicious melty cheese and tasty beef, yum. I was surprised by the roll, it was nice and soft, not a crusty bread like I had expected. I'm a west coast girl, never been to Philly, so I imagine that's the standard over there. I also fished out a couple big hot peppers from the jar. I had zero complaints except maybe they could be closer to my house! Like next door! Loved it!

  • Mister E.

Perfect bread, juicy meat, covered in cheese (get the wiz... I know it seems so wrong but it's soooo right). Do this on pepper steak with grilled onions (and peppers from the pepper steak. Get it?) Seriously you'll feel like you need cigarette or confess to someone afterwards. It's that good. It's a hole in the wall. But some of the best places are right? And the people there are super friendly. 5 stars. Nuff said.

I went here for lunch with my dad and it was a great place to eat. We both agreed that this place served the best cheese-steaks in the whole area. My dad has been searching for years in the Seattle area for a go-to place for cheese-steaks, and he's finally found his cheese-steak heaven. Everything about the sandwiches were amazing, from the slight toughness and chewiness of the bread--without being soggy like other places--to the mountain of well-cooked meat and cheese. The meat especially was the part that hit the bullseye. It was chopped finely into pieces and were absolutely tender. While my dad is a white-cheese cheesesteak purist, and I like to whiz it up, we both found the right sandwich and cheese combinations to please us. Two great sandwiches we tried were the "Donnie" and the "Roni". The pepperoni on the "Roni" was definitely what I was looking for in a cheese-steak with that extra pepperoni flavor, and the mushrooms were a hit with my father. We both enjoyed our sandwiches, and with each at only around $10, it was a great lunch that left us stuffed. The only issue we could think of was that there was very little space to eat (only about 2 or 3 small tables). We had to eat outside standing up at our work van. We really would have enjoyed the whole experience more if we had been able to sit. However, this didn't take away too much from the experience, and we both would say that this is the place we would go to if we ever wanted more cheese-steaks.

So I was watching the travel channel and there was an episode on Philly Cheesesteaks. This made me crave a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Don't you hate when that happens? So anyway I went onto my yelp app and looked for the best place for it in Seattle. Lone behold Calozzi's was what popped up. The next day I went to pick one up for someone. Yup. I didn't get one for myself. I figured I'd share and only take a couple of bites to taste. I had just left the gym and didn't want to ruin my workout by devouring into one of these sandwiches even though I was craving one the night before. Once I took a bite and dropped off the sandwich I was actually contemplating going back for one for myself! The guys working recognized me (DOH I was only there an hour earlier). They thought something was wrong with the sandwich I originally ordered. I was so embarrassed but I told them the story, they laughed, made me a new sandwich and I went on my way. Done and done. Seriously the sandwich was legit! I'm so glad they have the option of provolone because I'm not into the overly processed yellow stuff even if it is standard. I also love that they use olive oil. Makes me feel less guilty.

In town for a few days from Detroit. While working downtown needed lunch. Saw this place in yelp. This place is awesome! The staff is cool, and friendly. Very fast paced, food comes out quick, fresh and hot! This place stayes busy, so be ready to order!!

Easily the best cheesesteak in the area, we happened upon this place quite by accident. Service was super friendly and definitely authentic Philly. I will definitely return to try other sandwich combinations whenever I'm in the area. Probably will avoid the mushrooms in the future though, as they appeared to come straight from a can. Inside seating is very limited.

Holy Schnitzel that's an amazing cheesesteak! This is a hole-in-the-wall, one-trick pony (don't come looking for a chicken sandwich or a turkey club - its just various cheesesteaks). But what it is is incredibly delicious. The owner was there and is a real East Coaster (from Philly) which I loved. Like being home again. Worth the drive to Georgetown!

it's in a slightly shady area, but who cares, the food is pretty darn good.. and pretty much delicious. You want a cheesesteak? this place works, I mean it's meat and cheese, and onion, and good bread. I don't need to write a long review, to say that you are going south of town, and finding a delicious mess of awesome food. Eat it. Done.

In search of what I think is the best cheesesteak in Seattle, I finally decided to try this place today. The first thing I noticed was how small this place was but I assume most people do to go orders anyway. As I approached the door I was greeted by one of the workers who welcomed me inside with the nicest attitude ever. He asked how I was and I told him it was my first time. He proceeded to explain the menu to me ( sandwiches only) and how I could get toppings for free. I ended up getting the " kitchen" which is with mushroom, onion And peppers with wiz. Only took about 5 mins to get my sandwich! As soon as I got home and took my first bite I was in heaven.... The bread was soft but not soaking with grease and the wiz was in every bite. The meat was juicy and not chewy at all and very flavorful. The only complaint I had was that the peppers were not spicy. Although it's a lil more expensive than other places, I've decided this is my new favorite place for cheesesteaks!!!

Basics of ordering cheese steaks. Steal wit means with onion. Witout means no onion. Cheese can be provolone, cheese wiz, mozzarella, or none. You can get a pepper steak, mushroom steak, pizza steak with marinara, or a pepperoni steak.

Review is for service.. Dude behind the counter was so rude I walked out without ordering. Saw great reviews on Yelp and work at a large office a few blocks away. I showed up at 3 pm, no one else there. Big sign out front says order at the window next to the super-shady no-tell motel (Hourly Rates!).. I stood for several minutes, finally yelled hello at the young guy "chillin'" inside. He told me to come inside through a door near the rear. I did. He stared at me when I said I'd never been there before, then rudely pointed to a sign on the wall explaining the vocabulary one must master in order to eat their food? Screw you and "wit" and "not wit". I was going to order for 4 folks.. Went to Mikes Hot Dogs instead. That's my recommendation. You get service and can speak good old normal English there.

Calozzis Georgetown is only open on weekdays during the lunch hours. I work in Mukilteo. I made it a point to wake up at 5 am so I could get to work 2 hours early, so I could drive 40 minutes from Mukilteo to Georgetown for a late lunch, because I did NOT want to wait an entire month before the Rainier Square location opens up (which will be open on weekends and possibly evenings). Anyway, this should just tell you how utterly amazing these Cheesesteaks are. Donnie Whiz Wit = Best Cheesteak in the world. The new location is very clean, service is always fast and friendly. Free and conveniently located parking. Calozzi's Georgetown is a winner. Do I really need to write anything else? For those who want their cheesesteak to be a little less greasy (especially for travel), I recommend asking for one light on the oil. At least that's the way I like mine. Just had my cheesesteak yesterday, and I already want another one.

I hate traffic... But sitting in traffic to hit up Calozzi's was an absolute pleasure today. Anticipating a hot, gooey, sloppy whiz wit, my stomach almost felt like it was starting to eat itself I was so hungry. And good thing too, because Al Calozzi's perfect cheesesteak sandwich totally hit the spot! And while someone my size should really only eat half and save the rest for later, I ate that sandwich like it was going out of style. BOOM! The whole thing in like 3 mins. I shouldn't even share this but it was so good that I sopped up the drippings and extra cheese with the remaining bread from the last few bites. You just can't let anything go to waste, it's that good. What I love about Calozzi's isn't just the perfect cheesesteak, it's the customer service. And please don't do this... But when I was there (close to closing) someone knocked on the door asking for a few sandwiches. Having just closed up shop, Al kindly offered to turn everything back on and fire up some new sammies for the guy. Having worked all day, standing on his feet, I would definitely encourage people to get here before 4pm when they close. But it really showed how awesome Al was that he was more than happy to do this guy a favor and get him some food after hours. And whether it's this location or his pioneer shop, Al has always been the kind of guy who remembers his customers, makes friends, and spares time for small talk no matter who walks in the door. All while masterfully making some super seriously delicious food. The only thing I hate about Calozzi's is that now they have two locations. DAMN! So I'm twice as likely to eat here. Now I'll never be able to go to Pioneer Square or Georgetown without stopping in for a whiz wit. It's bittersweet. My tastebuds want it so bad but my waistline doesn't need it! So if you're looking for comfort food, a friendly conversation, great customer service and a full stomach - There's no other place that can compete. Welcome to Georgetown, Al!

This is what food is all about. Simple, greasy and delicious. When you do a variant on one thing, and you do it well, you can't really ask for better than that. I was super hungry when I went in, and this sandwich went down in the annals of my belly as one of the most deliciously simple things in the world. So hot I could barely eat it, but I couldn't stand to wait for it to cool, so I just burned my tongue the whole time I was scarfing it down. Absolutely delicious and no frills.

This hidden little Gem is outstanding, the cheese steaks remind me of Philly, from the meat & cheese to the most important part, the bread. Thank You staff, I'll be back!!

Holy MOLLY! This place is legit, went with my wife and got 2 "Donnie's" (meat and mushrooms) one with provalone and one with cheese whiz. These are serious sandwiches plenty to fill you up even though I polished off my wife's last few bites (I needed more of that deliciousness) you really cannot go wrong with a classic cheese whiz philly. and the grilled onions are a must for me set that flavor off.

  • Shay D.

This must be haven! Lol The right streak the cheese and grease. This is the one! So sad only open til 4pm while worth the drive and money. Thank you for a sandwich well done. I got the pepper steak with onion and American cheese(mmmm..SOOOGOOD) and a Donnie no onion American cheese equally amazing! I wanted to take a pic but the sandwich had no chance, maybe next time!:)

Legit philly cheesesteaks that are LOADED with meat. These guys are super friendly and enthusiastic about their food, and it really shows in their service and flavour. Their condiment area has a ton of hot sauce and a jar full of pickled hot peppers which I love! The seating area is small though, so either get there early, or take it with you for lunch. I got the donnie wit provolone and can't wait to try the other options out. Luckily this place is 5 minutes away from my boyfriend's work, so whenever I'm in town I'll be sure to drop by again. Maybe get the cheese whiz that everyone seems to love next time! ;)

I saw this place on my friends Facebook and just had to try one. One year later I finally make it to Calozzi's. It did not disappoint! I had The Donnie with cheese whiz and was in heaven from the first bite. This place is not for the healthy eater and considering it's in Seattle, I salute thee. Even though the food was everything I wanted it to taste like from just looking at the pictures, the owner made the experience far exceed my expectations with his excellent customer service. Calozzi's has made a repeat customer out of me.

One of the best ive ever had, portions big enough to share justifying a 10+ dollar sandwich. Meat is of quality and flavor is outstanding. (One of my favorite spots in this area definitely worth a visit)

Awesome Kitchen Sink sandwhich (peppers and shrooms)! Fantastic service as well. Great place to stop for a quick place to eat!

  • Jay V.

Great sandwich. Really sloppy and delicious. I would prefer to give a 4.5 star rating if possible because I'd expect the sandwich to be a bit bigger for $10. But ya, it was still damn good

Awesome service, awesome staff, awesome food. What more could you want? If you're thinking about trying this place out, just do it.

Most fantastic cheesesteak I've had in my entire life. I highly recommend "The Roni."

Grease. Salt. Meat. Cheese. = Magic! Thank you Calozzi's for making industrial little Georgetown just that much more exciting. They deliver super stuffed sandwiches. I thought I'd only eat half, but my mouth just kept going.. They also make sandwiches pretty fast - our order was ready and made in less than 5 minutes! What would make this better? - Definitely sturdier bread. Like others said, it gets soggy quickly and barely holds up after 30 minutes. - I remember thinking that the meat seemed a little tough and pebbly. Good thing cheez whiz covers up all food sins

The real deal. Delicious meaty cheesy magic. These steak sandwiches are ridiculous. Total mess and so so worth it. And the Roni included some of the salumi pepperoni is also very tasty. If you're calling in a "to go" order, make sure you know which location you're calling. Georgetown or downtown are different. Employees are super friendly and sandwiches grilled to order. They sometimes run out of items later in the day. So get their early or call ahead. This location isn't as busy, which is nice, and there's lots of easy parking nearby. It totally looks sketchy from the outside, being connected to a really dive-y looking motel. But don't be scared. The sandwiches are worth it. It's just down the road from E Marginal Way S, there's a sandwich board on Marginal Way to alert you to the location so you don't miss it. Oxbow Park (with the giant cowboy boots, etc) is nearby and can be a fun place to go eat your "to go" order of cheese steaks.

I spent the first 147 years of my life in Philly, so I am by far the most qualified person on the face of this planet to rate cheesesteaks. Really, my family is from the area and I spent four years of college there so I may not be *the* most qualified, but I've certainly had my fair share. Granted most of my cheesesteaks where consumed when I was drunk, high, hungover or some combination of the three - cheesesteaks nonetheless. That said, a steak at Calozzi's is probably the best you're going to get outside a 50 mile radius from Philly. That's not to say it would hold a candle to the stuff in that area, but I spent 30 years in DC and it's better than anything you could get there. Were Calozzi's actually in Philly, it would probably be rated three stars with an extra half added when drunk. Given this place is about 2,800 miles away from the good schtuff, it's worth four stars. My only real complaint is the onions should be a large dice and served on top instead of minced and mixed in with the meat. The whiz version also didn't travel well (bread got soggy) but that's on me for waiting 15 minutes to eat my sammich. I suggest eating in if you have the choice. LOL at the guy who ordered a swiss without. At least he didn't ask for mayo... Oh and the service definitely ain't Philly style. They were polite.

Bomb Steak sandwiches wiz wit. Great parking at this location also.

  • Todd B.

This is a great little spot. Little is the operative word, too. This place is about five feet wide. Outside there are picnic tables and inside there is a counter. There are no frills here. What is here is an outstanding Philly steak. Rich and well countered by the hoagie roll around it. I wolfed down my "Donnie" as I talked to the counter guy about good spots in Seattle and travel. It felt like I was back in NJ for a moment. Without the Drakkar Noir and gold chains, of course. Outstanding. I'll be back.

Hands down, Calozzi's has the best cheesesteaks in town! I have yet to come here and go "Eh, it was pretty ... alright." NO. That does NOT happen. I've been to all of their locations - first their location in Pioneer Square, then when they moved near the convention center, and now their Georgetown location - and I have never been disappointed! The loud clanging to mince the cheesesteaks - it just makes me smile. I can't hear diddly squat over it, but that's perfectly okay. In fact, it's probably better that way since it probably drowns out the "Mr. Grinch" theme song to match that mischievous little grin I get on my face. Order it "wit" onions. Unless you're deathly allergic. In which case, I'm SO SORRY! Even at that, do you have your epipen with you? It just might be worth it. Maybe. Your call, dude :P Also, I should address some of the complaints I've seen in some of the reviews. 1) If you want more cheese, ask. There is no extra charge for extra cheese. I'm having a hard time remembering the last restaurant that didn't charge me for extra cheese .. oh wait, Altaye. That's the kind of awesome service you get with small restaurants like this! 2) If you want a half a sandwich, order it even if you don't see it on the menu. Tada! Food/calorie guilt problem solved. 3) If you're upset they're out of Salumi's pepperoni for their Roni sandwich, don't be mad at Calozzi's. That's Salumi's fault (though really, don't fault them for being SO DANG AWESOME!). Salumi's has to be very strict about dividing up their supply to support the local businesses, and they put limits on what businesses can order. It's the same reason Pagliacci Pizza is seemingly always out of Rosmarino Salami. I know, it makes me a sad panda too, but Calozzi's other sandwiches are awesome too! Above all of that, Al Calozzi is an incredibly affable and business savvy owner. He makes everyone feel incredibly welcome! He's also a very generous man. He kindly donated some gift certificates for a charity event I hosted, and it was greatly appreciated (and unexpected!) To give this place anything short of 5 stars says you aren't truly familiar with all they have to offer. You can pretty much disregard all the non-5-star reviews :P This place is located on the outer edge of a former small motel lodge. It's a great place to go grab a quick lunch while you're in the Georgetown area. Divey? Sure, maybe the neighborhood and motel lodge presence is a little bit divey. The owner has taken great care of trying to fix the place up and make it presentable and cozy. But don't you dare knock the food. It's undeniably great! If you disagree, I can't trust your opinions - be gone! Just be glad you don't have to fight downtown traffic and parking to get yourself a great sandwich! The downtown location is great if you're in town for a convention like PAX, but the Georgetown location is great if you want to avoid the downtown mess or maybe go to Costco.

I sometimes make special trips to Georgetown for the cheesesteak wit whiz. I work in Kirkland. Yup.

A tiny little shop with the best Philly cheesesteak in Seattle. Sorry, everybody else.

    (5)
  • Thai D.

Best cheesesteak sandwich in Seattle. Wit whiz and onions, that's the way to get it. The bread is soft but tough enough to keep the cheesy juicy beef from tearing it apart. The only thing that would make it more Philly is a mullet and a track suit.

    (5)
  • Shon H.

This is a dang good philly cheese. I like Original Philly off Rainier, Tat's and Philly Boys, but Calozzi's is better than all of them. The Georgetown location is tiny, has a couple of tables outside and counter inside. Just cheesesteaks, no fries or sides. You don't need them. Pepper steak with whiz--or American. The guys there are great too.

This is the real food. I eat it almost exclusively. You should eat this food, yum yum.

  • Jim B.

The enthusiasm in the employees is contagious - you just have to eat it. Hoping there's an ambulance near, afraid I would have a heart attack eating a Philly Cheese Steak, but these were amazing, didn't kill me, and I can't wait to go back!

  • D C.

This glorious hole in the wall produces the finest cheese steaks in the northwest. The space is hidden in a run down motel......you've got to check it out....Order the Roni wit Wizz. You won't regret it.

  • David E.

I know this might not agree with other reviews, but I was not as impressed as I expected to be with Calozzi's. It is a good sandwich, the beef and cheese whiz taste good together. Very messy and do not travel far with them. Fortunately I work nearby and had the chance to eat it as soon as I got back. It might be better eating there but there is not much seating room available. I am sure I will try it again and things might change for the better.

  • Jessica D.

The sandwiches and staff are AMAZING! I came in at 5:53PM (they close at 6PM) and the owner and cook were so nice! I asked for two of the most popular sandwich and he cooked me two steak sandwiches with American cheese to go. Soooo yummy!!

  • Phyllis F.

I went here yesterday and had a Philly with whiz.. Bread was somewhat soggy, and I paid $9.86 for a sandwich that looked way bigger in pictures. The flavor of the steak itself was great, and the guy working was extremely friendly!! Which would be two reasons I would come back.

Like a lot of hole in the wall restaurants, this place is a home run. The gal that takes your order is super friendly, then when you get your food you are very happy as it is really good. I had the "kitchen sink" and it rocked. Too bad they aren't open on weekends.

  • B K.

Simple. Small hole in the wall restaurant. It is a great find! Just cheese steaks. Have not had one in a while so went to try today after seeing on yelp a couple weeks back. Reviews are accurate. Great cheese steak. My preference is steak onions and cheese. They did it perfect.

Okay I've been back two more times since my last post and even at Tat's in this six weeks time frame, but despite writing this on 3/31/13, I have to post an update from a specific visit on 3/18/13. First the family and I had been on the road for four hours coming back from the Long Beach Peninsula and we were hungry - the perfect detour before heading home. We showed up in the late afternoon (3PM ish or so) and there was this lone person covering both cashier and grill duties. There were two people waiting outside for their order, two Homeland Security guys, us, and one other woman. Talk about being slammed for orders during his last hour before closing. I will have to note - he served all of us with a smile and professional demeanor. He didn't flinch, freak out, or become flustered in any way. The orders came out in timely succession - consistent, hot, tasty, quality sandwiches. His work is worthy of the Benihana chefs working similar grills. Kudos to this person (sorry didn't catch his name) - the owners/management at Al Calozzi's should be happy that they have someone working at their establishment who shares their vision. As usual - Al Calozzi's rocks! OMG hot cheesy goodness. I'm dreaming of another cheesesteak, but got to pace them out or my physician will give me the major stink eye.

Tummy "crack"! I'm doing my best to not end up with a figure like a Peanut M&M...and this place is like the last temptation of Lisa...aaaaaagh! So good....but so not health food.

  • Bikram C.

This place has amazing food along with friendly service. The best cheesesteak place in Seattle. It's in a great location in Georgetown. You won't be disappointed with how great the food is and fast service.

  • Britney C.

Super nice guy helped us even though it was almost closing time... Good on him too because he just made a customer for LIFE. I took a wrong turn in George town, caught a glimpse of the sign and my curiosity (and grumbling tummy) got the best of me. I lived in Philly for 4 years so I DO know what they are supposed to taste like and they hit the mark for sure. Messy. Delicious. Authentic. AWESOME.

I've been waiting to try this place for a long, long time and it was worth the wait. I will make adjustments to MY schedule from now on to make sure I can fit it around their hours. I had a Donnie wit, whiz. Holy crap, amazing sandwich and great service. I'll be coming back to try the Roni next, and seeing if I can make it Joey style.

  • 2 B.

I got there on a monday around 10:45 and there was only 1 person in front of me, he ordered 7 Cheesesteaks lol It was my first time there and it was amazing. I got the Donnie wit onions and wiz. Outstanding!

  • Adam W.

I've got a good friend from Philly that was so taken aback that his West Coast friends had never had a proper cheesesteak that when he went home to visit he brought back a car of frozen meat (I lived closer to Philly at the time) and had authentic bread shipped to his house so he could have an ex-pat cheesesteak party. Those were life-changing sandwiches and I've been looking for a proper cheesesteak place since I moved back to Seattle. Wait over. I will be eating here regularly.

    (5)
  • J H.

First time after being a Tats regular. First off, the service is awesome. Personable, and very cool guy working the counter. Georgetown location is awesome as I don't have to drive so far to get a good steak. Sandwich came out quick. My only issue is that it doesn't travel well. By the time we got back to work one of the bags was soaked through and fell apart at the bottom. And not enough cheese. Both of my little gripes are easy to fix. Eat in, and order extra cheese next time. I say next time, as there will definitely be a next time.

  • Nicole G.

Delicious! I am from Boston and stuck living the rest of my life in Washington. I missed steak and cheese and thought I would never have another until my husband told me he found Calozzi's! My mom was here visiting and I saved our trip just when she was here so she could have one too! So good!!!!! I know my husband says he wishes they were open later with working at Boeing and having dinner at 7pm. He and so many of the guys are sick of the options around there. You would be flooded by Boeing guys every night! Can't wait to go back!

  • Neil H.

Great stuff here. I figured a place with this many good reviews can't be bad. It wasn't. Went here for lunch, steak sandwich " Wit Whiz" was awesome. Place was busy and now I know why. I'll definitely be back.

    (5)
  • Casey H.

For cheesesteaks in Seattle...this place is as good as it gets. They have a nice selection of sandwiches...all look amazing. I have had the classic "wit" onions and whiz and it was awesome! I love Tat's, but this place is equally good for cheesesteaks without the line. Would love to see this place expanded as seating is sparse and uncomfortable. Would also like to see longer hours - maybe extend to 7 or 8? Finally - really nice people work here. It's great to get a philly cheesesteak without the requisite attitude that typically accompanies it. Keep up the great work Calozzi's!

    (5)
  • Olivia S.

Calozzi's.... Al Al Al ... Al (the owner) is awesome, has great passion for his food, and has fulfilled his dream. The cheese steaks are SO SO satisfying. Now that the Pioneer Square location is down and moving, catch the Georgetown location before 4PM! Tons of street parking, few seats to grub, and on your way you go. We're waiting for the late night's to come back! Heck, as I'm writing this review, I think I might just make a trip down there NOW! You should too.

    (5)
  • Michael C.

One of the best cheesesteaks I've had outside of Philly! Worth the trip from Renton just for the sandwich. We had the regular steak sandwiches with provolone. We got there after 3PM and lucky for us no one else there...If you're there during lunch time the line is out the door. Thanks for some awesome sandwiches! We'll be back :)

I finally made it in to Calozzi's and it was worthy of all the hype. I got the Donnie w/ mushrooms, onions and whiz. The sandwich was huge and it might have been the best cheesesteak I've ever had. A+ and the service was friendly. I'll be back.

  • Wes N.

Simply put, cheesesteaks so good you will dream of these for days, weeks, months, hell, years! Ever since my epiphanous visit to Philadelphia and Jim's Steaks years back, I've been searching a real cheesesteak in Seattle (or anywhere). Many of the places I discovered were promising, some even had good sandwiches, but none of them delivered anything even resembling those gooey, rich meat and cheese bombs I discovered at Jim's Steaks. It became vexing - perhaps inordinately so; such a simple, but compelling thing: What is wrong with these people? Why don't they get it? How can they make something that looks so right - but tastes so wrong? My vexation ended, abruptly, and brilliantly, when I discovered Calozzi's in Pioneer Square. The smell, the staccato noise and motion of Al or one of his carefully trained cooks mincing thinly cut steak on the hot grill, and the huge tureen of hot melted Cheese Whiz alongside - even Al's East Coast banter - told me I'd found it. For real, yeah; indeed maybe even better than my iconic Jim's. So good, I crave them - a lot. So good, that as soon as I'm finished (and stuffed - these things are huge), I want another. So good that I ignore - indeed relish - the juice and globs of cheese on my chin and arms. So good, that the lingering aroma of steak and cheese and onions makes me smile all afternoon (and sometimes the next day). If there was a downside for me, it was the hassle of getting downtown and finding parking at the original Pioneer Square location. If you work downtown or are downtown for some other reason, it's a no-brainer; this is where you go. But for laid-back funk and general Georgetown chillin' - to say nothing of easy access and oodles of free parking - gotta check out Al's new Georgetown location. The steak sandwiches are every bit exactly as crazy good as the downtown location (hey, this is Al's place!) and while the Georgetown location is much smaller, the sandwich shop ambiance (just a few feet of standing/stools counter space) is so Georgetown perfect, it's also become the stuff of my dreams.

  • Michael K.

They say you always remember your first time. Well, I hope they are right because I just had my first authentic cheesesteak sandwich and I want to remember that experience forever. I have always loved what I call "city food", that is food that you can grab from little corner joints whenever you get the craving for something. Coming from Chicago it was Italian Beef sandwiches and Hot Dogs, in Philadelphia it is cheesesteaks, and now Georgetown has it's own piece of Philadelphia on the corner of Carleton and East Marginal Way. I had been so anticipating this place they knew me by name just from my Facebook comments on their progress reports and pics. Jen and the rest (Of course I remember the cute girl's name, sorry guys I'll learn your names to, at least I remember your delicious sandwich for now) were just so friendly and welcoming, great first for me and I can't wait for my next one.

  • Bill W.

Al, buddy, I'm now going to miss my steak fix in SEA. Your new location is in the worst spot for me since when I'm in Seattle I don't have a car. For those of you who live in SEA and crave that Philly goodness I strongly recommend Al's. he by far better than any of the Philly joints that you see face off on the Food Network or Cooking Channel. Better Than Jim's, or Genos any day of the week. Bill The Airline Pilot. Somewhere I have a picture of one of your sandwiches being eaten at 33,000 Feet on the way from Seattle to Philly. It's just that good. Don't fear the grease.

    (5)
  • Ben Y.

I was hungry and on east marginal way, this is usually a bad combination. On the advice of a friend I stopped here, and man I am happy I did! One of the better cheese steaks I have had in a long time. (Get it with Whiz, always with Whiz) Staff was super friendly the place is small, but still bright and has a fun cheery feeling about it. I'm not sure there is enough seeing for a lunch rush, but given the choice next time I would choose to eat there, as I made a big enough mess of myself that I ended up pulling back over to enjoy the other half of my sandwich. I think that this might be a regular stop for me on my way to visit friends in Burien or when dropping someone off at the airport. Shoot I don't really need an excuse I will be heading back here next time I want a cheese steak!

    (5)
  • James R.

If you're into a great traditional cheesesteak then you HAVE to come here! The only drawback is having to grab your fries down the road.

    (4)
  • Henry L.

Probably the best cheesesteaks in Seattle! The Steaks sandwich w/ cheese whiz, onions and red peppers is very delicious, tender, and full of goodness. Very friendly customer service and the order was ready in a very rapid pace of less than 5 minutes. The Roni is similar to the Steak, but just slightly better. The Salumi Pepperoni brings out the true flavors of the cheesesteak. The cheese whiz makes the sandwiches full of goodness with every bite! Fresh ingredients makes these sandwiches taste great! Definitely a hidden gem in the heart of Seattle!!!

  • C. J.

Awesome food, cool, friendly service! Best cheese steak I've ever had! The Pizza Steak with Cheese wiz is OFF THE HOOK!

  • Cindy T.

OH SO THIS is what a real philly tastes like!! The other reviews are totally right on! This is best sandwich I have ever had! I had the steak wit onions and provolone, my hubby had the donnie, wit onions and whiz...and we were both totally impressed, and satisfied, we practically inhaled them. Seek them out if you are in the Seattle area, you will not be sorry. The owner Al is a great guy, very customer focused, he is very personable, he has a great story, we visited the Georgetown location and were waited on by a nice young fella named steve, he was busy, but calm, personable, and had a nice smile, our food was quick and hot and delicious. Do yourself a favor and just go!

  • Scott M.

Get the Roni Steak...delicious! Authentic sand which straight from Philly, and warm, friendly service.

    (5)
  • Andy A.

This place was still getting fixed up when I visited but what Al's Georgetown venue lacks in pomp it certainly makes up for in energy and service. And though the menu is somewhat limited - it's about the quality, not quantity. Great little hole-in-the-wall for the Boeing crowd and adds some nice local flavor in the form of the proprietor. He's attentive and clearly cares about your experience. Probably the most hands-on customer service I've seen in the food industry for some time. Check it out! Parking is free and easy!

    (5)
  • Nick L.

Even better than the old bell town location!!! Great staff and fast service. They don't serve fries anymore though... :-(

The Best cheesestake I have ever had. The Roni is amazing

  • Tom T.

Just tried the new Calozzi's in Georgetown. I still like Philly Fevre more, but this place is way cleaner, the staff is more friendly, it's faster and it's more convenient. I got the pepper steak with onions and white American cheese. It was really good, so I came back a few days later for another.

    (4)
  • Renn J.

The best cheeseteaks in Washington, period! I always enjoy coming here and getting a Joey wit. You will not be disappointed, I can say that for sure

Awesome first time having a cheese steak wit whiz! Loved it, and a great addition to the neighborhood.

  • John L.

So far, this place is absolutely the best in Seattle for cheese steaks. I met the owner Al, who cooked my sandwich to order. One bite in brought back memories of walking down South Street in the summertime and stopping at Jim's for a sandwich. Two bites in, I was pretty much sold on it. Hit the spot. No point in going on. The real deal. It's so great that a guy like Al takes such meticulous care and pride in making something disarmingly simple as a cheesesteak and makes it so authentic. The bread has the right consistency of chewiness, not that typical West Coast sponge bread stuff. The meat is really well seasoned. After my experiences at other places, I ordered my sandwich with extra onions the first time, but on subsequent trips, didn't put my order in that way, and it was just as flavorful as in my memory. Can't wait to try the Pizza steak and the salami steak! Woo hoo!

Just want you want solid cheesesteaks great service five stars all around.

  • Andrew K.

So I finally got to visit the Georgetown location of Calozzi's (The other location is currently closed at the time of this review, due to them moving it to a new spot). I was quite thrilled to discover that the same, great, greasy goodness that I've grown oh-so-fond of from the Pioneer Square location can be found here. The owner Al was working when I came in. Great, friendly guy who will happily engage in a good conversation, and definitely cares about his customers. Even if you're just getting a to-go order like I did, you'll feel right at home and want to stick around! For those of you who have yet to experience Calozzi's at all, it's easy to sum up - It's where you go if you're looking for the most legit, real-deal cheesesteak in Seattle. It's more than just a sandwich - it's an experience. One that often requires plenty of napkins, and sometimes even a fork. This Georgetown location is easier to get to and find parking near than the Pioneer Square location, which is nice. Stop on in here - you'll thank me later!

I just went in based on an enthusiastic referral from a co-worker. I should have known better since he only lived in Philly for a short time. I got a Pizza Steak and asked for hot peppers. "No hot peppers." Pardon me? No hot peppers? An you claim authenticity? That was enough for a 2-star rating alone. The steak itself was also underwhelming. Way too much sauce (and too sweet to boot), too little cheese, and a roll that was a limp sponge in no time. I'm probably being overly critical, but since I splurge on these calorie-bomb experiences so rarely, my expectations were quite high as a Philly native and the no hot pepper thing turned my whole experience into a compromise. Philly Boys is still the best in town. And two demerits for being attached to a motel with hourly rates.

  • Matt T.

Came here based on the reviews and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. In fact, if you leave without having a 5 star review, it's because YOU did something wrong, not them. This place is one of those "does one thing and does it PERFECTLY." Get any cheesesteak sandwich you want, customize it any way you want (within reason), get chips or not, get a soda or not. DONE. My friend ate his so fast I swear he inhaled it. And he never does that. I mean it was bite, talk, bite, talk, silence for the next 5 min. Me? 3/4 of the way through my weak body started to protest because there was just so much cheesy meaty goodness. But my tastebuds won out, and I finished.

Wow! Sooooooo good! I had the pepper steak and my husband had the Donnie Totally worth the trip from Sioux Falls, SD to get one. If we're back this way again, we'll be back at Calozzi's! Friendly staff, cute little hole-in-the-wall place and AMAZING cheesesteaks!

I've visited Philly this past summer and tasted the original Philly cheesesteak at Pat's and Geno. Without a doubt Calozzi's, comes pretty close to the original. This was my first time there and I am sure to go back may more times. Al was very friendly and great to talk to about Philly. Although the place is small, I would eat it there because it will only taste great when it is hot and messy. The location is great don;t have to mess with the downtown traffic.

Went there for the first time today. Loved it. Provolone wit out. Good guys working there. Owner working hard always a good sign.

Seattle's street numbering system is a bit screwed up but with a call to Al we DID find him...and it was worth it!!! VERY personable guy and GREAT food!!

Decided to give the new location a try since I am such a fan of the cheesesteaks at the Pioneer Square Location! Not disappointed! I get the "Joey Pepper Wit" which is, Provolone, Cheez Whiz, Sweet red peppers and fried onions! Just bursting with flavor I couldn't get enough! The new shop is colorful and cozy! Great place to stop in for a quick delicious bite! Al makes you feel just like family and makes sure every customer is happy! His steaks blow away all my favorite places back home in Philly!
