My husband and I have eaten at kilroys for years with no.problems until today 10/26/14. We both had prime rib for lunch and a side salad. I had ranch dressing that was like water. The prime rib that is usually great was not. The meat was tough. Dissatisfied today:(. Fifty some dollars I don't mind paying if the food is good. This was terrible. Maybe they have a different kitchen staff? I wanted to.post to.kilroys website but unfortunately nowhere to.post . guess they don't want to know how well or how bad they are doing.

For me to write something to a business such as this, the service has to be over the top excellent or the over the top horrendous... the reason for this letter... over the top, inexcusably horrendous. That's partly why I became a Yelper. I would have been happy here just sending an email to the restaurant, however, irionically, there is no place to leave feedback. Our club has been holding meetings at Kilroy's for the past several years. As for my personal experience, I have been attending over the past two and a half years. Unfortunately, every meeting I attend is met and served by on only one server... this has resulted in extremely long delays in getting drinks and food. The meeting is typically only for an hour so by the time the food comes out, most of the time, it's wrong, and almost evertime, the meeting is concluding when it gets there. As for drinks, we are lucky if we get two on average, and last night, we barely got one while some had even paid their bills before the rest of the table even got their first drink. In the past I have just treated this as a 'oh well, what can you do about it?' And we had decent servers who helped us bear with them. However, last night was the last draw... the little blond server's attitude was downright disrespectful and rude, and then she proceeded to ignore the whole table all night when we expressed our displeasure trying to explain to her that the table next to us sat down 20 - 30 minutes AFTER us and already was half way through their food before we could even get one drink order in. Her snotty response was that she was doing the best she could... and that if we didn't like it, there was a dining room inside to which we responded we couldn't that we were part of the meeting out here... she again retorted, "and I'm all alone here trying to sever everyone!" I however, did take her rude suggestion to just go to the bar because someone with such an attitude wasn't going to get any of my money... and, again, instead of offereing to even get us drinks, she turned away and continued waiting on people who came in after us. Apparently she decided we weren't worth waiting on at all and NEVER ONCE stopped at our table the whole night. We tried to grab another server that was just hanging around, just to get drinks. We asked, "Can you help us? We've been here almost an hour and haven't even gotten any drinks..." To which he replied, "Well no, not really, but, I guess I can maybe get some drink orders..." then he disappeared and another half hour or so went and no one had even come to get food orders until a manager appeared and ended up taking the orders at the table. Like I said, we are used to the slow service and try to just accept it but, last night, there was no excuse and the attitude that we got in return even more inexcusable. Later I heard the server telling one of the guys doating over her they weren't prepared or expecting this... um... one, its football Sunday... two, we have these meetings EVERY second Sunday of EVERY month (except holidays). That they "weren't prepared" conveys the managers had an epic fail because they failed to prepare their staff accordingly. Obviously the server needed help and that she refused to serve us at all the rest of the night (because I for one took her up on her suggestion to go to the bar and get a drink, and two, because someone TWICE her age expressed her dissatisfaction for the hostility and disrespect towards everyone), and that the others just hanging around refused to serve us as well, leaving it to the manager to take orders all prompted me to instigate a potential venue change for our meetings. I realize the loss of our business is not going to affect Kilroy's business all that much, but, it is sad because we could really bring in some good business and funds, been going there for years, and when served right, are typically a group that tips well. Very unfortunate and perhaps in my top three of worst customer service experience yet in my 40 years.

My fiancé loves this place. I really don't care for the food at all. This place is good for one thing: the bar and bar food (wings). This place is still around I think because there's absolutely no other bar or restaurant for locals to go to in this area of Springfield. Last time we were there we had a super great waiter.

My friend and I ate at Kilroys for a Tuesday lunch. With the server's advice I ordered the French Dip sandwich--it was excellent. It featured a generous portion of Roast Beef and a delicious dipping broth. The side salad was also very good. The service was good but not outstanding.

This review is for Tuesday/Thursday seafood night. Seafood fest lasts from 4-8PM in the bar and patio. Happy hour drink specials are going on at that time as well. I love that you can pick the music that plays through a juke box system. Seafood is yummy and you have a choice of lobster, oysters, crab legs and shrimp. It is priced by pound. Hot butter, old bay, cocktail sauce, vinegar and crab crackers are available. Buckets for discarded seafood shells are placed on your table. One thing I love about this place is that the owner is always walking around greeting his guests. It's almost like an episode of Cheers because well, everyone knows your name. It's definitely a place full of locals who come back on a weekly basis. Bathrooms and dining floor/bar/patio are always clean!

This review is based on the experience we had in the sports bar separate from the restaurant. The customer service was absolutely awful. First, the waitress was very rude and unprofessional. The bar waitresses all had different attire, making it difficult to distinguish them from customers or workers. Is there no uniform? She was wearing shorts, flip flops, and a tank top. How are we supposed to know you work here if you aren't dressed with a proper clothing. Second, a friend of mine lost her ID so she brought her Argentinian passport. The waitress questioned her to a point where it made her feel like she was being interrogated and felt somewhat offended. The waitress took her passport to the managers office for some reason then came back with her manager. I don't see why there was such a big issue. All you new to do is look at the date of birth and that's it! After she checked my ID she tossed back to me across the table. How about you hand it to me like a normal person with manners would. Third, the bar doesn't even have a drink menu and the food menu is only given to you if you ask. Fourth, our waitress did an awful job of checking in with us throughout our visit, but she checked in with the surrounding tables around us. The only time she actually came to our table to check in with us was when we received the check. The way she delivered herself made it seem like she wanted us out of there. In terms of cleanliness, the high top where we were sitting at were filthy. The table has residue from the previous diners and you could tell they hadn't been wiped down. The overall experience was disappointing.

5 stars for Melanie, our waitress, who was so insanely patient with my large group of obnoxious drunks. the food was great, the drinks were incredibly reasonably priced, and I have no idea how the heck Melenie kept straight who ordered what, but she was so on top of everything and never looked remotely phased or frustrated. She was incredibly friendly and engaged. I had the cajun wings with some hot sauce on the side and they were absolutely amazing. everyone around me had to try some. I strongly recommend.

Didn't notice this place existed until I saw it on LivingSocial and I live less than 1 mile away. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. Would definitely come back!

Walking in we felt like we went through a time warp. It is dark inside, it took our eyes a few minutes to adjust. The decor is WWII-era advertising, support, and information. The tables are dark wood and the booths have high backs. It was clean which is impressive given all the wall decorations. The clients were older although being a Sunday afternoon there were a couple of families with young children. We both ordered hamburgers that were pretty good although the buns were really thick (I just removed the bottom half of the bun.) We also ordered the tater tots with toppings (cheese and bacon). They were good -- they are not on the menu but I misread and asked for tater tots with toppings (the tater skins and tater tots are next to each other on the menu and I apparently merged...) The waiter was paying attention, realized my misread and said they could do it with the tater tots as well. If you read my reviews then you know that matters to me and has me thinking I will visit again. It was quite and comfy. The staff we encountered were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I could tell they are working on the menu. There were certainly items from the 80s but it did not seem overly stuck, there were items that have trended more recently, the tater tots for example. Likewise, they have sweet potato fries and pretzel buns available. They know they are old school but acknowledge some more current bar food trends. I don't expect kale chips or chipotle mayo and that is OK. It felt like a comfortable place to sit and chat. They have several different theme specials (ribs, tacos, and seafood) which might be worth trying.

I overlooked the outside construction because it will add curb appeal when they finish. As I stopped in for lunch I asked my waitress her opinion between three items I thought I might like for lunch. She immediately suggested two others that were nothing close to what I told her I liked. I ordered the turkey deluxe sandwich stressing on wheat toast and no mayo. It was served on bread and slathered in mayo. I had to send it back. By the time it came back the original order of beer battered fries on the plate were cold. When I told my waitress I was done (I ate half of the sandwich) she asked if I wanted a box to take the rest home. I told her no, the sandwich was very average and the fries were cold. She asked if I wanted dessert!!!! LOL! No clue... This place is in a great location but don't expect much from the food side.

Prime rib dinner combo special every Friday - can't go wrong with that. It's a good deal for the amount of food you get. I got a medium rare prime rib, a side salad and steamed veggies. You also get some fatty bread as an appetizer. Make sure you get there before 6 pm so you're in on the special. The restaurant is really dated with a much older crowd. I think I'll return for their seafood night.

So, a dive bar with video trivia, a military theme, friendly staff, and an owner that ribs me for holding my wife's purse then buys me a whiskey shot to make up for it? Yes to all the things! Burgers are good, they have craft beer on tap, and decent whiskey behind the bar. They support veterans (given the owner is one), have a fun crowd, and I'll definitely be back to this place.

I hadn't been to Kilroy's in almost ten years. We ducked in here for an early dinner to avoid a summer storm and traffic that typically ensues. So glad we did. It looked like nothing had changed since my last visit...except maybe the wait staff. The restaurant still had that old time nostalgic, rustic charm. They were running a 1.25 lb. lobster dinner special for $16.99, which included dinner salad and a side. It was delicious. My boyfriend ordered a cheese burger that was classic comfort food. Yes, our potstickers and sweet potato fries were out of a bag in the freezer. But they were actually pretty good. The biscuits and sweet butter were excellent. I consider myself somewhat of a food snob. I would give Kilroy's a solid three out of five stars. If you're looking for fine dining, Kilroy's is not the place. But it you're looking for very good comfort food, this is the place to go.

this is for brunch only ---- have been here many friday afternoons for happy hour on the deck, and that's always fine. they even have a taco bar for happy hour, which is good enough. wanted to take my daughters somewhere for brunch after church and this was closest to where we were. it was just awful. like, almost inedible awful. like, i was mad at myself for paying money awful. brunch shouldn't be that hard right? but couldn't even get eggs right. anyway, if you want to hang out and have some drinks out back, it's great for that. but stay away from the brunch.

Was craving some good ribs so ordered take out at Kilroy's - what a disappointment! Ribs are supposed to have some carmelized barbacue sauce with crusty bits on the outside; instead, these ribs look like they had been slathered with a thin, watery tomato based liquid on them. Probably the worst ribs I have ever had. The baked potato was hard and the accompanying slaw looked like it had been sitting out for a while. Appearance wise, presentation was the most unattractive; taste wise, the same. Kilroy's needs an intervention.

Living in the surrounding area I've heard of Kilroy's but never actually stepped inside. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed my time here! Kilroy's reminded me of a college dive bar. Its dark, loud, full of people, with tables and chairs where available. Our party took advantage of the $10 pitchers and ala carte seafood pay by the pound (Tuesdays / Thursdays from 4pm - 8pm). The seafood was fresh and steamed on the spot. We also ordered some biscuits and wings. Although seating was limited in the bar, patrons had the option to sit outside in the patio and still take advantage of the 4pm - 8pm special. Kilroy's offers dine-in seating which reflects C A D's review below. The crowd was a mix of age and ethnicity. Everyone was friendly including the staff. Kilroy's has a vast arrange of TV's all over the walls; however, they did play sound of the game due to a DJ setup at 9pm. So we left for another bar to watch the NBA Finals.

Great option for Sunday brunch. Food favors hearty over fancy and a couple of dishes left me in the "meh" category, but there was enough I enjoyed thoroughly to let me say that I'd be back if the opportunity presented itself. The belgian waffle boats won me over eventually (I'm a waffle purist) when I realized that the boat shape would keep the strawberries and syrup out of my cooked to order omelet. I also enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, home fries, and the fresh fruit w/ chocolate fountain. But the texture of the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict left something to be desired. There was also a pasta station that looked good and a nice assortment of pastries, but I'd already hit the wall and didn't get a chance to try. Likewise I didn't sample a few of the savory non-breakfast items on the buffet. There were also raw oysters - pre-opened and on a bed of ice. I love my raw bi-valves but with no idea of how long these had been sitting out I opted to pass on them. I loved the decor and enjoyed looking at all the war era posters and memorabilia. The place has a warm, cosy feeling - largely due to the lack of of natural light. Plenty of tvs to be had both in the bar area and in the main dining room.

Worst experience ever. Bought coupon from livingsocial to test this place with my wife and my brothers. We ordered wings as appetizer, steak salad, 2 burgers, and Ahi tuna salad. The wing were okay, asked the waiter 3 times to bring extra dressing for and she kept forgetting it. Steak was salty. Both burgers were medium rare instead of medium and on both salads were the tomatoes bad, I mean BAD, that we put on the side. We told the waiter that the tomatoes were bad and she did not react to it. She brought us the check as nothing happened and wrote thanks on it. I was speechless and just wanted to get the hell out, because I would even want to come back even when they would have offered us free food.

You know, I'm not sure when this happened, but I have noticed a positive shift in Kilroy's the last few visits so I feel like an update is in order. They have revamped the menu and the food has gotten better and is more consistent. The service seems to have steadied out also, my last couple of visits have been really fun. It's been around forever and I'm happy to see it make improvements that will keep it around for much longer. So, if you're in Springfield and want a laid back place to watch a game (professional or college) and grab some food, Kilroy's is your spot.

They have been around since the 70's and the decor proves it! Reason for our continued patronage is because it's just down the street from home! When we get lazy, we seriously are dying for nearby bars, and this is the only close one. They offer a bar special every night. On Tuesday/Thursdays until 8pm, they offer crab legs, steam shrimp, oysters, lobsters, and mussels. The price is pretty good. The flavors of the seafood are ok. But then again, it's less than 10 minutes from home. There are some drink specials but nothing to rave about. Other nights, they have taco nights. Their website explains the specials. It can get crowded on Tuesday/Thursdays. Note: since this bar has been around forever, the clientele is quiet older.

Abysmal service: people seated after us were waited on and served before us (blatantly rude), other tables were served rolls while waiting for their dinners and we were not (strange and even ruder), confusion over whether they would honor their Tuesday night special (printed in the menu), service was overall quite slow. 2. Mediocre food: appeared (and tasted like frozen microwave meals). The food was not tasty at all. I would not recommend this place.

I was a little bit, okay a lot of bit, skeptical when I first went here. The entire strip mall looks abandoned, and well, for the most part, it is. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Thursday happy hour. First, our waitress, totally cool lady. She did not pressure us to get drinks, and really let our party of 8 or so just relax and have a good time. I also really like the setup of their seafood happy hour. You actually just go to the back of the bar and get oysters by the dozen, clams, shrimp and other seafood by the pound and you pay back there too, so it's easy to manage. If memory serves me correctly, the oysters were $12 a dozen, and the other seafood was very reasonable too! As an aside, you can tell a lot about the place by the clientele and really the other customers were extremely polite, courteous, and friendly too! Definitely a great place to eat and relax.

~2.5 stars~ I don't know if this place has been going downhill or I've just wised up about this place, but the brunches here have been leaving me empty for some time. I used to think Kilroy's had a solid brunch at a fair price, but after the last two visits, I now realize that I've been eating mediocre food at a too-high price. First of all, the brunch items never, ever, change here. And that's because the place has a standing order for the same food from the same sources (Sysco and Costco, most likely) every week. How many times do I have to see that gross bubbling cauldron of hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benedict, the dry, previously-frozen home fries, the large vat of fake egg mix for the omelettes and the display of tired breakfast pastries? And items that are homemade (too-cakey biscuits and way too-peppery crab soup) are poor as well. They also got rid of one of their biggest draws, the chocolate fountain, because "it was too messy." All right, I'll be fair. The Belgian waffle "canoes" are one of the best waffles in the area and the bacon is nice and crispy. But outside of that, Kilroy's serves food that is just as outdated and tired as the decor. It also still has a funk about it from the many years that smoking was permitted in the dining room. Ultimately, at $15.95, it costs too much for not enough good food. Luckily, I used my Entertainment coupon to get some $$ off and it came to about $12.00 each for two with tax and tip. Since that would seem like the absolute maximum that anyone should ever spend here for brunch, I'll probably come back only when I have that coupon. I have to say that our server was just great. But I think in the future, I'll leave this place to the numerous local families with their jillion kids to keep this place afloat (see the head-scratching glowing reviews of this place). When complacent places like this thrive, you really have to question the standards of NoVA diners.

This place has consistently decent food and is reasonable in pricing (My personal favorite being their Chicken Sandwich with Barbeque Mozzarella). Decor is obviously old but unique, bringing back WWII propaganda and home front American feel. There's always a lively crowd at the bar and in the dining room. The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. I've never had a terrible service experience here and sometimes it can be exceptional (The one server in mind is named Elle. I was very impressed with her attentiveness and thoughtfulness as well as her bright attitude even as closing approached). The things that concern me are the cleanliness of the restaurant and their reluctance to update simple things such as booth upholstery. Overall I believe that Milroy's deserves a solid 3 stars. Never a disappointment here but there are some changes that would be welcomed.

Meh. Used to love this place. Back in the 80s, it was THE go-to. Since then, the prices have skyrocketed and the quality plummeted. The young lady who seated us was just one step above surly. $19.99 prime rib didn't come with a salad nor bread... those were an upcharge, according to the waiter. I like to support locally-owned restaurants, but I think I'll just stick with my memories when it comes to Kilroy's.

This place has a sports bar separate from the restaurant. We went to the bar and ordered a couple of cokes and potato skins. The place needs to be updated and was a bit dingy. Having never eaten here before we intended to have drinks and dessert as long as our initial order was good. Sadly the service was terrible. We were ignored for the time we were there by the server. The potato skins were really bad. How can you ruin potato skins? This isn't rocket science. The only highlight was the hostess (?), or another server who took care of us. Ultimately, the bad food and bad service means we won't be going back.

I knew there was a reason I had stayed away from this place for so long despite it being located a mile away from my house. I am all about dive bars and local establishments, but there's simply no justification for the dingy, rundown atmosphere and multiple moose heads (WHY would you need more than one, if even one?!) hanging on the walls at Kilroy's. Also, the food is far from stellar. I had the hickory BBQ burger and requested grilled slices of pineapple on top which the server was glad to oblige other than the fact that he clearly thought the request was odd. The burger tasted ordinary and the bun itself was dry. Apparently their burgers do not come standard with tomatoes and pickles - I found out later that they must be requested instead. My friends had the prime rib sandwich and flat iron steak which they told me was mediocre and a solid 3 stars. I had a bite of the steak which was surprisingly juicy but didn't enjoy the pairing with the béarnaise sauce provided, I personally would have preferred an au jus or even A1. Service was fine and I did enjoy the biscuits for what it's worth.

Bought a living social deal for the brunch buffet. It was a pretty standard buffet with nothing exciting. Food was ok, tasted fresh. The egg station was great but too many people so had to wait a while to get an omelette made. There was also a waffle station. Then the typical breakfast food-bacon, eggs, sausages, biscuits, gravy etc. Would I have been happy had I paid the full price?, probably not! Server was good and kept our drinks refilled. Overall it was an ok place, will try it again probably in the evening.

I love Kilroys! Hip and trendy it is not, but for a laid back environment with consistent comfort food, it's our spot. The biscuits with honey butter are to die for and I love the portabella pita -- on our most recent visit, I was so sad to see it no longer on the menu, but they were willing to make it anyway when I asked where it went. For a neighborhood joint staffed primarily by local high schoolers, we always have good service. Not the cleanest of places (tables are always a little sticky), but it's all part of the charm.

This place was pretty awful. Went for dinner and got prime rib and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was not seasoned nor cooked properly and the meat looked nearly grey. The potatoes were instant and the gravy from a jar. My boyfriend got the pound of shrimp and mac and cheese, and a side salad. The waiter got the order wrong so a 1/2 pound came and the mac and cheese was very obviously Kraft mac and cheese from the box. The salad was watery (as in a pool of water under the lettuce on the plate). Our food took an incredibly long time to come to the table. The bar bites (tater tots, mozzarella sticks) were pretty good and I can see how this is a fun pub stop, but never again for a meal.

Many things...first heard the Manager yell at our server because he asked to have the tv we were watching changed to the football game. Manager said he'll do it when it starts but not before. During the game I was looking for audio on my phone and the manager said not in the dining room. There was people eating but at the other end of the room not near us but we still couldn't try to hear the game on our phone. A few minutes later the manager was near the servers stand and we heard him say he wonders who else he could be a dick to tonight. Later we saw a mouse run along the wall under another table. There was already a big mouse trap box under that table. Another server said she saw it earlier this evening. Now to our food and drinks...my friend ordered a Southern Comfort and Coke and instead got Jack and Coke. My fries came out Luke warm and tasting very chewy. The server was nice and brought out onion rings at no charge to replace the fries and later when another friend ordered allowed her to upgrade to onion rings at no additional charge also. The server was a bit slow to clear the table of empty plates and refill our drinks but other than that was very nice. I used to eat here all the time a few years ago and it was great back then. This was the second bad experience in the last year so I'm now writing it up on here.

Well the food looked really good. I just never got mine. Ordered a beer and watched it get delivered to another table. We family and I had an awesome experience here. We were greeted right as we sat down. The waitress brought our drinks right away. The waitress name was Kathleen. She was extremely sweet, attentive, and accurate. She came by our table often, and my glass of water was never empty. The food was delicious. This place has an old timey feel which I love. There are all kinds of military posters on the wall. It makes it feel like a bar, but in a restaurant setting. I enjoyed it. We ordered steak, salad, onion rings, French dip, cheese & bacon fries (which normally comes as potato skins, but the kitchen customized it for us), and BLT. Everything was made perfectly. Oh, and the biscuits were out of this world. You could tell they were made fresh. So good, we will definitely be coming here again.

My husband and I have eaten at kilroys for years with no.problems until today 10/26/14. We both had prime rib for lunch and a side salad. I had ranch dressing that was like water. The prime rib that is usually great was not. The meat was tough. Dissatisfied today:(. Fifty some dollars I don't mind paying if the food is good. This was terrible. Maybe they have a different kitchen staff? I wanted to.post to.kilroys website but unfortunately nowhere to.post . guess they don't want to know how well or how bad they are doing.

For me to write something to a business such as this, the service has to be over the top excellent or the over the top horrendous... the reason for this letter... over the top, inexcusably horrendous. That's partly why I became a Yelper. I would have been happy here just sending an email to the restaurant, however, irionically, there is no place to leave feedback. Our club has been holding meetings at Kilroy's for the past several years. As for my personal experience, I have been attending over the past two and a half years. Unfortunately, every meeting I attend is met and served by on only one server... this has resulted in extremely long delays in getting drinks and food. The meeting is typically only for an hour so by the time the food comes out, most of the time, it's wrong, and almost evertime, the meeting is concluding when it gets there. As for drinks, we are lucky if we get two on average, and last night, we barely got one while some had even paid their bills before the rest of the table even got their first drink. In the past I have just treated this as a 'oh well, what can you do about it?' And we had decent servers who helped us bear with them. However, last night was the last draw... the little blond server's attitude was downright disrespectful and rude, and then she proceeded to ignore the whole table all night when we expressed our displeasure trying to explain to her that the table next to us sat down 20 - 30 minutes AFTER us and already was half way through their food before we could even get one drink order in. Her snotty response was that she was doing the best she could... and that if we didn't like it, there was a dining room inside to which we responded we couldn't that we were part of the meeting out here... she again retorted, "and I'm all alone here trying to sever everyone!" I however, did take her rude suggestion to just go to the bar because someone with such an attitude wasn't going to get any of my money... and, again, instead of offereing to even get us drinks, she turned away and continued waiting on people who came in after us. Apparently she decided we weren't worth waiting on at all and NEVER ONCE stopped at our table the whole night. We tried to grab another server that was just hanging around, just to get drinks. We asked, "Can you help us? We've been here almost an hour and haven't even gotten any drinks..." To which he replied, "Well no, not really, but, I guess I can maybe get some drink orders..." then he disappeared and another half hour or so went and no one had even come to get food orders until a manager appeared and ended up taking the orders at the table. Like I said, we are used to the slow service and try to just accept it but, last night, there was no excuse and the attitude that we got in return even more inexcusable. Later I heard the server telling one of the guys doating over her they weren't prepared or expecting this... um... one, its football Sunday... two, we have these meetings EVERY second Sunday of EVERY month (except holidays). That they "weren't prepared" conveys the managers had an epic fail because they failed to prepare their staff accordingly. Obviously the server needed help and that she refused to serve us at all the rest of the night (because I for one took her up on her suggestion to go to the bar and get a drink, and two, because someone TWICE her age expressed her dissatisfaction for the hostility and disrespect towards everyone), and that the others just hanging around refused to serve us as well, leaving it to the manager to take orders all prompted me to instigate a potential venue change for our meetings. I realize the loss of our business is not going to affect Kilroy's business all that much, but, it is sad because we could really bring in some good business and funds, been going there for years, and when served right, are typically a group that tips well. Very unfortunate and perhaps in my top three of worst customer service experience yet in my 40 years.

This review is for Tuesday/Thursday seafood night. Seafood fest lasts from 4-8PM in the bar and patio. Happy hour drink specials are going on at that time as well. I love that you can pick the music that plays through a juke box system. Seafood is yummy and you have a choice of lobster, oysters, crab legs and shrimp. It is priced by pound. Hot butter, old bay, cocktail sauce, vinegar and crab crackers are available. Buckets for discarded seafood shells are placed on your table. One thing I love about this place is that the owner is always walking around greeting his guests. It's almost like an episode of Cheers because well, everyone knows your name. It's definitely a place full of locals who come back on a weekly basis. Bathrooms and dining floor/bar/patio are always clean!

This review is based on the experience we had in the sports bar separate from the restaurant. The customer service was absolutely awful. First, the waitress was very rude and unprofessional. The bar waitresses all had different attire, making it difficult to distinguish them from customers or workers. Is there no uniform? She was wearing shorts, flip flops, and a tank top. How are we supposed to know you work here if you aren't dressed with a proper clothing. Second, a friend of mine lost her ID so she brought her Argentinian passport. The waitress questioned her to a point where it made her feel like she was being interrogated and felt somewhat offended. The waitress took her passport to the managers office for some reason then came back with her manager. I don't see why there was such a big issue. All you new to do is look at the date of birth and that's it! After she checked my ID she tossed back to me across the table. How about you hand it to me like a normal person with manners would. Third, the bar doesn't even have a drink menu and the food menu is only given to you if you ask. Fourth, our waitress did an awful job of checking in with us throughout our visit, but she checked in with the surrounding tables around us. The only time she actually came to our table to check in with us was when we received the check. The way she delivered herself made it seem like she wanted us out of there. In terms of cleanliness, the high top where we were sitting at were filthy. The table has residue from the previous diners and you could tell they hadn't been wiped down. The overall experience was disappointing.

5 stars for Melanie, our waitress, who was so insanely patient with my large group of obnoxious drunks. the food was great, the drinks were incredibly reasonably priced, and I have no idea how the heck Melenie kept straight who ordered what, but she was so on top of everything and never looked remotely phased or frustrated. She was incredibly friendly and engaged. I had the cajun wings with some hot sauce on the side and they were absolutely amazing. everyone around me had to try some. I strongly recommend.

Walking in we felt like we went through a time warp. It is dark inside, it took our eyes a few minutes to adjust. The decor is WWII-era advertising, support, and information. The tables are dark wood and the booths have high backs. It was clean which is impressive given all the wall decorations. The clients were older although being a Sunday afternoon there were a couple of families with young children. We both ordered hamburgers that were pretty good although the buns were really thick (I just removed the bottom half of the bun.) We also ordered the tater tots with toppings (cheese and bacon). They were good -- they are not on the menu but I misread and asked for tater tots with toppings (the tater skins and tater tots are next to each other on the menu and I apparently merged...) The waiter was paying attention, realized my misread and said they could do it with the tater tots as well. If you read my reviews then you know that matters to me and has me thinking I will visit again. It was quite and comfy. The staff we encountered were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I could tell they are working on the menu. There were certainly items from the 80s but it did not seem overly stuck, there were items that have trended more recently, the tater tots for example. Likewise, they have sweet potato fries and pretzel buns available. They know they are old school but acknowledge some more current bar food trends. I don't expect kale chips or chipotle mayo and that is OK. It felt like a comfortable place to sit and chat. They have several different theme specials (ribs, tacos, and seafood) which might be worth trying.

I overlooked the outside construction because it will add curb appeal when they finish. As I stopped in for lunch I asked my waitress her opinion between three items I thought I might like for lunch. She immediately suggested two others that were nothing close to what I told her I liked. I ordered the turkey deluxe sandwich stressing on wheat toast and no mayo. It was served on bread and slathered in mayo. I had to send it back. By the time it came back the original order of beer battered fries on the plate were cold. When I told my waitress I was done (I ate half of the sandwich) she asked if I wanted a box to take the rest home. I told her no, the sandwich was very average and the fries were cold. She asked if I wanted dessert!!!! LOL! No clue... This place is in a great location but don't expect much from the food side.

Prime rib dinner combo special every Friday - can't go wrong with that. It's a good deal for the amount of food you get. I got a medium rare prime rib, a side salad and steamed veggies. You also get some fatty bread as an appetizer. Make sure you get there before 6 pm so you're in on the special. The restaurant is really dated with a much older crowd. I think I'll return for their seafood night.

So, a dive bar with video trivia, a military theme, friendly staff, and an owner that ribs me for holding my wife's purse then buys me a whiskey shot to make up for it? Yes to all the things! Burgers are good, they have craft beer on tap, and decent whiskey behind the bar. They support veterans (given the owner is one), have a fun crowd, and I'll definitely be back to this place.

Worst experience ever. Bought coupon from livingsocial to test this place with my wife and my brothers. We ordered wings as appetizer, steak salad, 2 burgers, and Ahi tuna salad. The wing were okay, asked the waiter 3 times to bring extra dressing for and she kept forgetting it. Steak was salty. Both burgers were medium rare instead of medium and on both salads were the tomatoes bad, I mean BAD, that we put on the side. We told the waiter that the tomatoes were bad and she did not react to it. She brought us the check as nothing happened and wrote thanks on it. I was speechless and just wanted to get the hell out, because I would even want to come back even when they would have offered us free food.

You know, I'm not sure when this happened, but I have noticed a positive shift in Kilroy's the last few visits so I feel like an update is in order. They have revamped the menu and the food has gotten better and is more consistent. The service seems to have steadied out also, my last couple of visits have been really fun. It's been around forever and I'm happy to see it make improvements that will keep it around for much longer. So, if you're in Springfield and want a laid back place to watch a game (professional or college) and grab some food, Kilroy's is your spot.

They have been around since the 70's and the decor proves it! Reason for our continued patronage is because it's just down the street from home! When we get lazy, we seriously are dying for nearby bars, and this is the only close one. They offer a bar special every night. On Tuesday/Thursdays until 8pm, they offer crab legs, steam shrimp, oysters, lobsters, and mussels. The price is pretty good. The flavors of the seafood are ok. But then again, it's less than 10 minutes from home. There are some drink specials but nothing to rave about. Other nights, they have taco nights. Their website explains the specials. It can get crowded on Tuesday/Thursdays. Note: since this bar has been around forever, the clientele is quiet older.

I was a little bit, okay a lot of bit, skeptical when I first went here. The entire strip mall looks abandoned, and well, for the most part, it is. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Thursday happy hour. First, our waitress, totally cool lady. She did not pressure us to get drinks, and really let our party of 8 or so just relax and have a good time. I also really like the setup of their seafood happy hour. You actually just go to the back of the bar and get oysters by the dozen, clams, shrimp and other seafood by the pound and you pay back there too, so it's easy to manage. If memory serves me correctly, the oysters were $12 a dozen, and the other seafood was very reasonable too! As an aside, you can tell a lot about the place by the clientele and really the other customers were extremely polite, courteous, and friendly too! Definitely a great place to eat and relax.

This place has consistently decent food and is reasonable in pricing (My personal favorite being their Chicken Sandwich with Barbeque Mozzarella). Decor is obviously old but unique, bringing back WWII propaganda and home front American feel. There's always a lively crowd at the bar and in the dining room. The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. I've never had a terrible service experience here and sometimes it can be exceptional (The one server in mind is named Elle. I was very impressed with her attentiveness and thoughtfulness as well as her bright attitude even as closing approached). The things that concern me are the cleanliness of the restaurant and their reluctance to update simple things such as booth upholstery. Overall I believe that Milroy's deserves a solid 3 stars. Never a disappointment here but there are some changes that would be welcomed.

Meh. Used to love this place. Back in the 80s, it was THE go-to. Since then, the prices have skyrocketed and the quality plummeted. The young lady who seated us was just one step above surly. $19.99 prime rib didn't come with a salad nor bread... those were an upcharge, according to the waiter. I like to support locally-owned restaurants, but I think I'll just stick with my memories when it comes to Kilroy's.

This place has a sports bar separate from the restaurant. We went to the bar and ordered a couple of cokes and potato skins. The place needs to be updated and was a bit dingy. Having never eaten here before we intended to have drinks and dessert as long as our initial order was good. Sadly the service was terrible. We were ignored for the time we were there by the server. The potato skins were really bad. How can you ruin potato skins? This isn't rocket science. The only highlight was the hostess (?), or another server who took care of us. Ultimately, the bad food and bad service means we won't be going back.

I knew there was a reason I had stayed away from this place for so long despite it being located a mile away from my house. I am all about dive bars and local establishments, but there's simply no justification for the dingy, rundown atmosphere and multiple moose heads (WHY would you need more than one, if even one?!) hanging on the walls at Kilroy's. Also, the food is far from stellar. I had the hickory BBQ burger and requested grilled slices of pineapple on top which the server was glad to oblige other than the fact that he clearly thought the request was odd. The burger tasted ordinary and the bun itself was dry. Apparently their burgers do not come standard with tomatoes and pickles - I found out later that they must be requested instead. My friends had the prime rib sandwich and flat iron steak which they told me was mediocre and a solid 3 stars. I had a bite of the steak which was surprisingly juicy but didn't enjoy the pairing with the béarnaise sauce provided, I personally would have preferred an au jus or even A1. Service was fine and I did enjoy the biscuits for what it's worth.

Bought a living social deal for the brunch buffet. It was a pretty standard buffet with nothing exciting. Food was ok, tasted fresh. The egg station was great but too many people so had to wait a while to get an omelette made. There was also a waffle station. Then the typical breakfast food-bacon, eggs, sausages, biscuits, gravy etc. Would I have been happy had I paid the full price?, probably not! Server was good and kept our drinks refilled. Overall it was an ok place, will try it again probably in the evening.

I love Kilroys! Hip and trendy it is not, but for a laid back environment with consistent comfort food, it's our spot. The biscuits with honey butter are to die for and I love the portabella pita -- on our most recent visit, I was so sad to see it no longer on the menu, but they were willing to make it anyway when I asked where it went. For a neighborhood joint staffed primarily by local high schoolers, we always have good service. Not the cleanest of places (tables are always a little sticky), but it's all part of the charm.

This place was pretty awful. Went for dinner and got prime rib and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was not seasoned nor cooked properly and the meat looked nearly grey. The potatoes were instant and the gravy from a jar. My boyfriend got the pound of shrimp and mac and cheese, and a side salad. The waiter got the order wrong so a 1/2 pound came and the mac and cheese was very obviously Kraft mac and cheese from the box. The salad was watery (as in a pool of water under the lettuce on the plate). Our food took an incredibly long time to come to the table. The bar bites (tater tots, mozzarella sticks) were pretty good and I can see how this is a fun pub stop, but never again for a meal.

Many things...first heard the Manager yell at our server because he asked to have the tv we were watching changed to the football game. Manager said he'll do it when it starts but not before. During the game I was looking for audio on my phone and the manager said not in the dining room. There was people eating but at the other end of the room not near us but we still couldn't try to hear the game on our phone. A few minutes later the manager was near the servers stand and we heard him say he wonders who else he could be a dick to tonight. Later we saw a mouse run along the wall under another table. There was already a big mouse trap box under that table. Another server said she saw it earlier this evening. Now to our food and drinks...my friend ordered a Southern Comfort and Coke and instead got Jack and Coke. My fries came out Luke warm and tasting very chewy. The server was nice and brought out onion rings at no charge to replace the fries and later when another friend ordered allowed her to upgrade to onion rings at no additional charge also. The server was a bit slow to clear the table of empty plates and refill our drinks but other than that was very nice. I used to eat here all the time a few years ago and it was great back then. This was the second bad experience in the last year so I'm now writing it up on here.

I hadn't been to Kilroy's in almost ten years. We ducked in here for an early dinner to avoid a summer storm and traffic that typically ensues. So glad we did. It looked like nothing had changed since my last visit...except maybe the wait staff. The restaurant still had that old time nostalgic, rustic charm. They were running a 1.25 lb. lobster dinner special for $16.99, which included dinner salad and a side. It was delicious. My boyfriend ordered a cheese burger that was classic comfort food. Yes, our potstickers and sweet potato fries were out of a bag in the freezer. But they were actually pretty good. The biscuits and sweet butter were excellent. I consider myself somewhat of a food snob. I would give Kilroy's a solid three out of five stars. If you're looking for fine dining, Kilroy's is not the place. But it you're looking for very good comfort food, this is the place to go.

this is for brunch only ---- have been here many friday afternoons for happy hour on the deck, and that's always fine. they even have a taco bar for happy hour, which is good enough. wanted to take my daughters somewhere for brunch after church and this was closest to where we were. it was just awful. like, almost inedible awful. like, i was mad at myself for paying money awful. brunch shouldn't be that hard right? but couldn't even get eggs right. anyway, if you want to hang out and have some drinks out back, it's great for that. but stay away from the brunch.

Was craving some good ribs so ordered take out at Kilroy's - what a disappointment! Ribs are supposed to have some carmelized barbacue sauce with crusty bits on the outside; instead, these ribs look like they had been slathered with a thin, watery tomato based liquid on them. Probably the worst ribs I have ever had. The baked potato was hard and the accompanying slaw looked like it had been sitting out for a while. Appearance wise, presentation was the most unattractive; taste wise, the same. Kilroy's needs an intervention.

Living in the surrounding area I've heard of Kilroy's but never actually stepped inside. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed my time here! Kilroy's reminded me of a college dive bar. Its dark, loud, full of people, with tables and chairs where available. Our party took advantage of the $10 pitchers and ala carte seafood pay by the pound (Tuesdays / Thursdays from 4pm - 8pm). The seafood was fresh and steamed on the spot. We also ordered some biscuits and wings. Although seating was limited in the bar, patrons had the option to sit outside in the patio and still take advantage of the 4pm - 8pm special. Kilroy's offers dine-in seating which reflects C A D's review below. The crowd was a mix of age and ethnicity. Everyone was friendly including the staff. Kilroy's has a vast arrange of TV's all over the walls; however, they did play sound of the game due to a DJ setup at 9pm. So we left for another bar to watch the NBA Finals.

Great option for Sunday brunch. Food favors hearty over fancy and a couple of dishes left me in the "meh" category, but there was enough I enjoyed thoroughly to let me say that I'd be back if the opportunity presented itself. The belgian waffle boats won me over eventually (I'm a waffle purist) when I realized that the boat shape would keep the strawberries and syrup out of my cooked to order omelet. I also enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, home fries, and the fresh fruit w/ chocolate fountain. But the texture of the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict left something to be desired. There was also a pasta station that looked good and a nice assortment of pastries, but I'd already hit the wall and didn't get a chance to try. Likewise I didn't sample a few of the savory non-breakfast items on the buffet. There were also raw oysters - pre-opened and on a bed of ice. I love my raw bi-valves but with no idea of how long these had been sitting out I opted to pass on them. I loved the decor and enjoyed looking at all the war era posters and memorabilia. The place has a warm, cosy feeling - largely due to the lack of of natural light. Plenty of tvs to be had both in the bar area and in the main dining room.

~2.5 stars~ I don't know if this place has been going downhill or I've just wised up about this place, but the brunches here have been leaving me empty for some time. I used to think Kilroy's had a solid brunch at a fair price, but after the last two visits, I now realize that I've been eating mediocre food at a too-high price. First of all, the brunch items never, ever, change here. And that's because the place has a standing order for the same food from the same sources (Sysco and Costco, most likely) every week. How many times do I have to see that gross bubbling cauldron of hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benedict, the dry, previously-frozen home fries, the large vat of fake egg mix for the omelettes and the display of tired breakfast pastries? And items that are homemade (too-cakey biscuits and way too-peppery crab soup) are poor as well. They also got rid of one of their biggest draws, the chocolate fountain, because "it was too messy." All right, I'll be fair. The Belgian waffle "canoes" are one of the best waffles in the area and the bacon is nice and crispy. But outside of that, Kilroy's serves food that is just as outdated and tired as the decor. It also still has a funk about it from the many years that smoking was permitted in the dining room. Ultimately, at $15.95, it costs too much for not enough good food. Luckily, I used my Entertainment coupon to get some $$ off and it came to about $12.00 each for two with tax and tip. Since that would seem like the absolute maximum that anyone should ever spend here for brunch, I'll probably come back only when I have that coupon. I have to say that our server was just great. But I think in the future, I'll leave this place to the numerous local families with their jillion kids to keep this place afloat (see the head-scratching glowing reviews of this place). When complacent places like this thrive, you really have to question the standards of NoVA diners.

Came back for the first time in a long time two weeks ago. American theme has gone from just on the walls to absolutely everywhere. Crazy! Food has great seasoning. Lettuce first came deal and gross. On both mine and my dads plate. Server states they don't have tomato unless the person asks for it-- I wanted tomato so had to wait for it. Sent it back no problems second time. Staff was very professional.

Kilroy's has been a family favorite of ours for nearly 15 years. It's a great place to go when you just don't feel like cooking. I always seem to end up getting the French Dip, Wings & Spiced Shrimp... Creature of habit. The bar...is a bar. It's not a Reston Town Center bar - and it's not trying to be. 3.5 stars. I have only been to Kilroy's for brunch. I went today with a friend - it had been a long time since we've been here. The brunch spread has changed considerably since our last visit. They've pared down the offerings, but seem to have retained the best of what they served before. No more *meh* pastries or soups or rubbery pasta dish. They still have the omelet station, biscuits, sausage gravy, grits, bacon & sausage, steamed mussels, hash browns, fresh fruit, and Belgian waffles. We got there right when it opened at 10. Service was friendly and attentive, dirty dishes cleared promptly. I don't mind the patriotic décor, but it seems very dark inside - dark green walls and booths, dark wood, some tables have red, white & blue tablecloths, but it doesn't lighten up the room any. The food is decent - I especially like the biscuits. But they could step it up a notch in a couple of ways. First, you can get an omelet or scrambled eggs, but forget about a fried egg, because it all comes out of a vat of pre-beaten eggs (or egg beaters?). I don't know if the crowd gets too big to worry about the extra time it takes to crack an egg, but maybe keep a box of real eggs handy to crack open as an option for fried. Also, the waffles are good, but the strawberry topping is thawed, previously frozen, mushy strawberries in syrup, and the big bowl of attractively piped "whipped cream" is Cool Whip. I would recommend offering fresh strawberries that have been tossed with sugar to create its own syrup, and real whipped cream. When strawberries are out of season, maybe try a different seasonal topping (fresh sliced peaches, cinnamon apples, caramel pecan, any non-canned fruit pie filling, like blueberry or cherry). Otherwise, I'd skip the fruit and stick to pancake syrup. The brunch price is AYCE for $12 - not bad. I'd be willing to pay more for more homemade goodness.

Great american food. I've been going here for the past 15 years and its easily one of my favorite restaurants. The French Onion soup is awesome as well as the fried calamari. They have great sandwiches and entrees and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some great tasting american food.

Have been going here for years and recently have started to revisit this place. It is a great place to watch games and get together. The dining area could use an update or two, but I like the pictures and postings. Tend to have a better experience with service in the bar or lounge areas. As for the food... Go with the sandwiches and you will be satisfied. The turkey club, fish sandich are good choices. Some good apps to pick from as well. The dinner entrees are average and do not do much for me, however, the dinner biscuits are good!

Stopped in here after work and before class... didn't really know what to expect... but the space was bigger than I thought it would be. Typical sports bar with lots of tables, tv's, beers on tap, and dimly lit rooms. I might have enjoyed it more if I were a single 40 year old woman. Seriously, you might have to have an AARP membership to be regular here. But the food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. I went right during happy hour and my yuengling was still $4 so I don't know what's happy about that....

While visiting our aunt in Springfield, Virginia, we treated her for dinner, her choice? Kilroy's. The interior is tired, but I have to say we loved the wonderful old posters, that cover their walls...from old Rockwell to vintage WWII, all of it very patriotic. The place is a neighborhood bar and restaurant and always busy. We sat in the dining room where it was quieter. The bar was hopping, it was Monday night and people were coming in to eat and watch football. The food is good, really good. I had their "STEAMED SPICED SHRIMP - 1/2 pound of Jumbo gulf shrimp steamed with Old Bay seasoning and served with cocktail sauce." The shrimp were large, like prawns and perfectly seasoned and cooked. My husband had their "PRIME RIB - A full cut of mouth watering beef, carefully seasoned, slow roasted, hand carved and skillfully trimmed," and it was just that. Our aunt had She Crab soup and said it was scrumptious. Our waitress was friendly, but not attentive. She brought me plenty of napkins to keep my hands clean while I peeled shrimp, but never kept our table bussed, so it was a mess by the time we finished dinner. The horseradish they brought out for my husband's prime rib was old, so was the cocktail sauce they served with my shrimp. Bottom line, the food is great, but the service really needs improvement. The place needs a facelift.

It's only a few blocks away, so it's been a kind of default for those nights when we're too hungry to think straight. Unimaginative but OK menu. My wife likes the lobster. The burgers are decent, so is the club sandwich. My biggest gripe: I used to get the fisherman's salad, which I really liked - big, full of fresh seafood, healthy. But last year it disappeared from the menu. As a result, the frequency of our visits has dropped.

A very old standard that seems to have improved in food quality. I ate at the bar side of restaurant on a very busy Friday night. They do have booth seating that is quieter on other side. I had beef skewers, an appetizer and fish sandwich. First, I seldom do appetizers because most are fried, oversalted yuck. This was a surprise on menu and very nice. strips of excellent grilled beef about 1" x 1" x 5". Could taste a bit of salt and pepper and perhaps some marinade of some kind. Grilled taste combined with hot really hit the spot. Only criticism was the server could have brought it first and then brought sandwich. I did not complain as it is not a big thing. But, it would have been better to share with friend casually. Felt rushed when they came together - as though the server was very busy with full bar and turning table for next clients may have been on the mind. The fish sandwich was very good. Excellent chewy bread and very hot fried fish. The french fries were very hot as well. I like hot food as it is right at it's best at that moment. A big beer with the whole thing and it was a good evening visit with a friend. Only suggestion would be to get appetizer out there sooner and give customer time to relax. I would have had a second beer and linger longer otherwise. Look for beef skewers! I would consider ordering them and then a big salad next time. Not crazy about bunny food. But, wife and doc say it is good for me. So beef for me and bunny food to make them happy, eh?

Wow - what the heck happened to Kilroys?! Or was I lulled into believing that their food is good because of the Sunday Brunch I have enjoyed there on so many occasions? The service was fine, but the food was abysmal and the place smelled like old, damp... just old damp... I went for the seafood scampi special for $17.99. It came with a house salad - how do you get tough lettuce? It had the consistency of shoe leather, and the balsamic vinaigrette tasted more like dark brown 7 Seas italian dressing. PLEH. That's okay, I've got seafood scampi headed my way. 4 shrimp and 2 varieties of sea snot (any mollusk), in MY mind, does not qualify as a 'seafood' medley... throw in a scallop, maybe a chunk of crab or two - for crying out loud it was seafood night! I am not a huge fan of sea snot, but I was starving and figured I could mask it with the linguini and sauce. Hmmm... sauce... right... about that. Is that the little puddle of liquidy, brothy stuff underneath the heaping pile of over-cooked linguini utterly coated in large chunks of barely cooked garlic? The stuff that I manage to whip into my own eye trying to make the most of a terrible situation?? Not so much. My fellow diners didn't seem displeased with their meals - fish n chips and sandwiches, so maybe this place will work for people with little to no expectations or for bar food. Wait... that was redundant. At least the company made it worth the visit... Boo hiss... Won't make that mistake again.

Underwhelmed - friends had really played this place up and upon my one and only visit here I've got to say I'm pretty unimpressed. The steak sandwich was, to borrow a fancy word: uninspired. There's a good place for pub fare that is simple and tasty, but that doesn't mean plain and low on taste. For as many fans as this place has, I'm left to my own devices to assume Kilroys has a large and loyal fan base who go there for many things besides food. The service okay but not the best. The prices seemed high to moderate. I went there for an after work function but will steer towards other places going forward.

I've been going to Kilroys for years and, although the food is OK, it's always like being home with friends and always exciting. I must say I had the best Prime Rib sandwich on Sunday night. It's just an all around fun place to go. Try it - you'll enjoy it.

A couple of friends and I were finishing up at Sharp Shooters and decided to grab a drink nearby. The friends, who are locals, said this was the best bar around. Not that I have anything to compare it to, but if this was my local bar I would have no complaints. The drinks were super cheap ($5 each for a whiskey/coke and a beer, and it wasn't even happy hour) and the artichoke dip was tasty. I could have done with a little less patriotism, but hey, it's DC-adjacent, I should expect it. I will not be ordering the Patriot Act Martini, though. Mmmm... tastes like bureaucracy....

Go for the beer and sports events - now that VA banned smoking you will not only survive the bar but may well enjoy it. I try to limit the number of visits I make to Virginia but when the opportunity came about to see Jeff W play Halloween night at Kilroy's, I kindly obliged. When we arrived, the place was not full but it wasn't too long before there was a bit of a crowd and cigarette smoke filled the room. We were greeted by our server and quickly obtained beverages. One giant Blue Moon was really all I needed for the night as I tend to have a bad case of the Asian Flush. Any more than that and I'd have been toasted since this was one of my first drinks post-surgery and painkillers. Post-beer, our server promptly fulfilled my request for water and it was much appreciated! Earlier in the day, Kevin mentioned wanting to share nachos but I was hungry and his arrival was not for another hour so I ordered the grilled cheese + fries. Buttery and toasted on the outside and warm, melty cheese on the inside - just the way a grilled cheese should be. Fries were also hot and crisp and not soggy or limp. Other New Day Rising groupies shared the "as giant as your arm" mozzarella sticks. Yes, they are quite large and though I didn't try them, they looked tasty. Later when Mr. L finally arrived, I did help him destroy the plate of nachos along with Tu-Van + hubby. They definitely lived up to the hype! Unlike most other places where the ratio of chips to toppings is never right, Kilroy's makes the mark. Endless layers of cheese, sour cream, ground beef, guac, lettuce, tomato and jalapenos will surely fill your belly and there's so much, you may even run out of chips first! In between songs and sets, we had a grand time doing some people watching (there was a group in the corner and the one girl had an interesting Medusa Halloween costume) or watching the World Series on any of the many many TV's all around the place. For those uninterested in baseball or whatever other sport was being broadcast, there were also TVs just for games like trivia and poker. Basically, you have no reason to be really bored here! My only peeve of the evening was leaving reeking of cigarette smoke. VA smoking laws have changed since my original visit so while I'd have said there's probably no chance I'd ever return, that would now be a lie! Hearing New Day Rising perform will be that much more enjoyable without the smoke seeping into my hair and clothing. Oh and brunch - I hear their brunch is pretty good so perhaps that would be another reason to return VA and pay Kilroy's a visit!

I recently disavowed my regular place (another local family owned sports bar) after being treated rudely by staff, and have been coming to Kilroy's instead. It is such a pleasure to encounter service with a smile (sorely missed at most restaurants nowadays), good pub fare that isn't overpriced, and fun music being played. Also, i love the fact that Kilroy's keeps me up-to-date with daily Facebook postings, letting me know what food and drink specials are in place each day, what sporting events will be shown, and what live music is coming each weekend. Kilroy's doesn't try to be an upscale, swanky bar - it doesn't have to. It excels at focusing on its patrons as neighbors and friends, and being a true community place (community not just as a noun, but as an adjective) - this is the valuable attribute that is lost at chain places. With all of the new places to eat and drink popping up in the Merrifield and Fairfax Corner areas, the only way local restaurants are going to survive is to take care of its customers, and especially its regulars. Kilroy's has this down!

Friendly staff Quick service School lunch quality food (like a public school facing budget shortfalls lunch..) This place is spacious, has lots of tv's and lots of parking behind that I never remember about. I only came here once and I got a philly cheesesteak. It was pretty disappointing, the bread seemed quite cheap, and it tasted like steakums meat was used. All I know is im pretty sure ive gotten better cheesestakes in middle school. I was there watching NCAA basketball and we decided to get dessert. The dessert was also bad, it tasted cheap and was sorta obviously a previously frozen dessert that tasted like something you get at the grocery store. The food wasnt too expensive, but it was overall just very disappointing. They have a cool bar part that ive never been to and they also advertise happy hours. If i were to come here again, id recommend sticking to drinks only. The service is what prevented this place from getting 1 star.

I've been going to Kilroy's ever since I was a little kid. They were actually a sponsor for my little league baseball team. They have quality traditional american food. Definitely not the best I've ever had, but certainly better than most. Recently, a friend and I have met up here on many occasions to reminisce about growing up in Springfield/Annandale. It's really nothing THAT special, but it is an all around good neighborhood restaurant.

"Meh. I've experienced better." Says it all. Let me say first, I LOVE dive bars. Ok, our party of 3 sat outside on the deck/smoking area. The heat lamps were awesome and the option to smoke while drinking overshadowed the dingy outer appearance of the deck. We all had some beers then moved to Jack&Cokes. I realize there are pouring regulations for liquor but I sure would have loved some whiskey in my almost $6 drink. So the drinks I had were soft, oh well. My woman ordered the steamed shrimp plate or whatever it's called and I had an order of hot wings. The shrimp was actually pretty good, but then again, it is kind of hard to eff up steaming shrimp. The wings were ok. I think they should label that sauce "buffalo" instead of "hot." Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just the way good wings should be. Now to the most disappointing part of the evening, the service. Inattentive, everyone at the table holding empty glasses, less than friendly... pretty much bad, slow service that warranted a low tip. However, since my girlfriend is a bartender in Alexandria, she convinced me to tip well and our waitress came out with 20%+ on our $120 tab. Bottom Line: I will try this place again but probably dine inside at a booth and see if it's any different. The only reason I would come back to the deck portion would be a Jeep meet or a band I really liked. Review edits pending second visit...

I've never actually eaten here, only been to the bar. This place is pretty spacious, lots of tables in both the dining area as well as the bar. Filled with lots of white people, ranging from college kids to people old enough to be your parents. Being Asian, I felt kind of awkward for part of the night: people stared at me and some man and his wife looked me up and down and said, "she would do" (and that's when I ran). Bartenders were quick, drinks were good. Can't really remember too much about the prices. If you do as I did and come with a group of friends and grab a few beers- you won't really remember too much of the details (was there music? I'm not sure. How many TVs? I don't remember...) There's also lobster in a machine that you can put money into- one of those claw machines- and if you end up grabbing one, they will cook it for you there. (Say whatttt?) Sometimes this place can be kind of... peculiar. Really, I think you'd have to go to understand, as it is hard to understand. (Not that there is anything wrong with this place, just something that I can't quite put my finger on...)

Last night, hubs indicated that he'd like to have brunch on Sunday (today) so when I woke up this morning, I jumped on Yelp to find some suitable places. I narrowed down the choices and sent them to him, via e-mails o he'd see them when he woke up. Since the brunch buffet here seemed to have pretty good reviews and the location was not too far, we decided on Kilroy's. The location was pretty easy to find, and very unassuming, in what appears to be a pretty ancient strip mall. Little to our surprise, the majority of the clientele was pretty ancient as well, and hubs even stated, "looks like a place I'd bring my grandma." Still, we made it his far, so we stepped on in, saw the sign, $15.99/pp brunch buffet and were seated. The decor was pretty neat! Almost like a woodsy-retro themed lodge with memorabilia and animal heads on the walls. Definitely lots to look at! Anyway, the booths were big and decorated tastefully. After a waitress took our drink order (both coffees, also I ordered a water) we were unleashed upon the buffet - and there definitely was a fair amount! Breakfast favorites like eggs benedict, maple sausage, bacon, potatoes o'brien, biscuits and sausage gravy...plus other lunchy stuff like caesar salad, cabbage rolls, lasagna. I didn't have any of the lunch stuff, but the breakfast stuff was homemade and good! In addition to the main line of food, there were three 'stations' - pasta, omelet and waffle. I can't speak for the first two (wasn't hungry enough!) but the waffles were awesome...smaller sized, they were kinda shaped like nutter butter cookies with raised ridges so they could 'hold' filling - in my case, strawberries and whipped cream! Mmm. Also, there was a seafood bar with oysters, mussels and crawfish (again, not hungry enough) and a chocolate fountain with a variety of fruit to dip, as well as marshmallows. I definitely was a fan of the chocolate fountain and judge me all you want, but I definitely dipped a piece of bacon in there...mmm tasty! After the coffee was factored in, we paid just shy of $40 for the two of us - so, the price was ok, but not *quite* worth it, since we really didn't eat that much. I'd recommend Royal Restaurant 's brunch over this one, however.

I've gone to Kilroy's a couple times for brunch and once for dinner. Overall, I would say the food is OK. They have nightly specials, like a burger night, etc. It's basic American style food. The brunch has a lot of variety (omelet bar, waffles, seafood, bacon, eggs, etc. and is a buffet style service. Dinner was moderately priced but I think the brunch is a little over-priced ($25 bucks a person). The service is always friendly and the decor is pretty basic with various WWII and WWI posters, pro-American, war bonds, etc. Overall: food is OK, service is good

I've been here a bunch of times to play music but only recently actually came as a patron. I've had their bar food offerings which are actually much better than you'd expect but I came specifically for their Sunday $16.99 (I think?) brunch buffet. I had heard good things about brunch from Laura V but I was still pretty shocked at how great it was! It consists of a seemingly endless spread of foods, all fresh and well prepared. From sausage, bacon, eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, french toast sticks, potatoes and eggs benedict, to their omelet station, stir fry station with shrimp, noodles and veggies, to their endless offering of raw oysters, steamed muscles and crawfish, to the homemade waffle bowls with strawberries, fresh whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. What an offering! And it was all great. It was almost overwhelming and I kept wanting to go back and try it all. I barely even had room for anything on their dessert table! This is seriously one of the most underrated and unknown brunch options out there so I highly recommend coming out to try it for yourself. From the outside (and even from the mooseheads on the wall inside) you might not expect good food, but I swear their brunch is a thing of beauty.

We go here for the happy hour food or to satisfy the occasional buffalo wing or fish and chips craving. The Fisherman's platter is humongous. When I first saw it I literally laughed at how ridiculously big it is... And it's gooood. Deep fried heaven, especially the clam strips. Best time to go there is the Monday happy hour- cheap buffalo wings and half priced burgers. A steal. Friday's tacos are a greasy and yucky disappointment though. Not even worth the "2 for 1$" price. And I'd rather grill a steak from Giant myself than eat it there.

I've been to Kilroy's more times than I'd really like to admit. Certainly not for the atmosphere, or the quality of food. Merely because it is right across the street from Wakefield Park, where a bunch of dirty, sweaty mountain bikers fit right in with the local Kilroy scene. Famished after burning a few hundred calories, one doesn't nitpick over the quality of beef served on the steak-um, er... cheese steak sandwich. From my experience, here are some of the things you can't go wrong with: -burgers... decent sized, and you score some fries. -chix wings.... surprisingly not bad, and this comes from a Buffalo girl who knows wings!! -onion rings.... the yummy beer battered kind, not the crusty, crumbly kind. -quesadilla....they don't skimp on the fillings! -turkey and swiss croissant...a decent choice ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Â~~~~ On my personal "avoid" list: -french onion soup... unless you like majority of your soup to be sopped up by a huge piece of french bread -sliders....just get a full sized burger -cheese steak sandwich....unless you are a steak-um fan -salads....just not a good choice when you're at a bar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Â~~~~ The service has typically been fine, although the food seems to take longer when you sit outside on the back patio. A trade off for better air quality.

Great no-frills chill bar in the Springfield not far from 495. Nachos were fully decked out and great to share with a small group. Rest of the food is standard bar far (though I wouldn't order seared tuna sashimi from a bar IMHO). Live bands play there.

Kilroy's is the place to go for mom and pop style prime rib, end of story. Take your parents here when they are visiting from out of town, should be a blast. There is something on their menu for everyone. Atmosphere of the dining area is cool, love the buy war bonds and war posters from WWI and WWII. Place gets knocked because everyone sees it as a watering hole, but honestly their bar seems 100% better than the nightmare Kate's has become. Try their Tortilla Soup, Prime Rib and Prime Rib Sandwich, as well as their French Dip and the Bean Quesilla Sticks. You won't be dissapointed. Cajun Seasoning is also a must!

This restaurant is pretty good. They do, however, make some things better than others. They also provide various coupons which is nice. The chicken tortilla soup is really good and it comes in a taco shell with chips on the side. I order a bowl of this soup every time I eat here. The sandwiches are probably the way to go here. The burgers are decent as well. The chicken parmesan is not really that good. The bread/biscuits are really tasty so make sure your waiter/waitress brings you a basket full of them. The wait staff is usually fairly good. A couple of times I've had a less than average waiter. Most of the wait staff seem like they are college kids so I try to give them a litlte slack. It seems like it's a good place to watch sports although I have never sat in the bar area. It's also not that expensive and the coupons can definitely save you additional money.

Oh Kilroys, what an interesting place you are... Located in a strip mall with a somewhat ghetto looking safeway and a dairy queen, this spot is a local favorite. Every time i'm here i see the same waiters and waitresses, the same crazy drunk people acting like fools (with a new one every now and then, and the same man sitting in the corner with his beer and cigarette playing NTN trivia. There are probably 20 tvs in the bar, all with varrying sporting events (including UFC). And dont forget the crazy rat tail man who jumps into play with the band cause he happens to have his drum in the car. Or the drunk girl who took the advice of rat tail guy and flashed the band. Its not the classiest of joints, but some people like to call it home. I will admit that some of the prices are steep, but i do kinda enjoy the food. I feel like we shouldn't, but i do. The nachos are excactly what you envision bar nachos to be... greasy, messy and delicious. I actually really liked their veggie pita... i'm sure its not that healthy as its loaded with cheese, but its a start. If you're looking for something healthy, i suggest checking elseware. It is VERY smokey so dont plan on wearing your coats, pants, shirts or even underwear anytime soon after. I would be interested in checking out the brunch here sometime (brunch bunch anyone???) I feel like Kilroys fits into its own special category.... and for some reason i like it.

I have never been hit on as much in all my life as I have at Kilroy's. Banking on Stef W's review, we took my father here for the Sunday brunch for his birthday. Kilroy's offers fairly standard brunch buffet fare: sausage, bacon, hash brown but goes a step further also offering grits, french toast sticks, belgian waffles and a bevy of desserts including some fresh fruit (excellent strawberries) and a chocolate fountain. Of potential interest to some is the omelette bar and the pasta bar. The omelette bar produces something closer to a french omelettes than most restaurants: cooking the eggs to near completion then placing the ingredients into the omelette at the very end. Personally, I prefer a more frittata style omelette, with all of the ingredients precooked then cooked into the eggs but to each their own. While I didn't try the pasta bar, they seemed to offer spaghetti sauteed with ingredients such as chicken, shrimp, and various (and oddly) Asian stir-fry mixed vegetables (snow peas in italian-style pasta?). For $16 a head, I found Kilroy's to be slightly above run-of-the-mill brunch fare. While the variety was above-average, the quality was just adequate.

Our server either refused to, or couldn't, rattle off all of the beers that they had on tap. Instead, she volleyed my question back to me with "do you like light or dark beers?" Their options of "light" beers include pretty much any basic Lite beer in existence, plus Stella. Guess what I picked. Hey - at $4.90 for a tall glass (which was enough to ensure I wouldn't be driving for a few hours), I can't really complain. Kilroy's is not a place that an epileptic should ever step foot inside. With probably a good two dozen TVs all playing different things from soccer to UWC (yeah, what?) to some kind of drag racing... this pub/tavern will ensure enough flashing lights to set off a good seizure or two. On the up side, being inebriated and having the great tunes of New Day Rising playing while watching two ripped shirtless guys beat each other into bloody pulps sure makes for an entertaining late Saturday night. Oh, and as mentioned by PC W, get the nachos. They're so worth it. When I saw the giant plate brought out to the other table in our little group of band groupies, I had a sneaking suspicious that I would be tempted to order some for myself. Fortunately, I had a bunch of yelpers to share with, because they were every bit as monstrous as I imagined. Thick, hardy chips absolutely smothered in layers of cheese, with everything from ground beef to sour cream to guacamole scooped on top. Unlike nachos elsewhere, there was no chance of running out of toppings before running out of chips here. Apparently I was the only spicy-eating among the crew, because I -somehow- mysteriously ended up with all the jalapenos, too. Fun times! I can't say I'd be back again, if not to come out and watch the Jeff and Jeff band play. It's incredibly smokey in here, and there were some... interesting characters. It's definitely conveniently located immediately off the Beltway, and if their nachos are indicative of the generous sizes of their other dishes, it might not be a bad place to grab something to nosh on during my favorite meal of the day!

I'm rounding up to 4 stars, I'd give Kilroy's a solid 3.5 stars. Let me set the scene- we had just moved to Alexandria the previous weekend. Having had the week to recover from the traumas of moving, our first full weekend in Alexandria was approaching. I was super excited. I had been building up my bookmarks listing for months! And what happens? The remnants of Hurricane Hanna decide to come through and drop oceans of water all over the place. Hanna, you bitch! Actually, it didn't totally ruin the weekend, but it did sort of change our plans around. R and I decided to work on our plan to find a fun bar to play Buzztime trivia at. So, we went to Kilroy's. We walk in and there are 5 rowdy fellas at the bar who were kind enough to welcome us with a loud, slurred, spit shooting "Come on in!". We walked in and there were plenty of empty seats at the bar but we decided to grab a table. Our waitress provided us with menus, took our drink orders, and supplied trivia game players. We both started out with a beer, I had a Blue Moon. Wasn't impressed. It wasn't cold enough and had a funky taste to it. R had a Stella Artois that he too wasn't happy with, he described it as "rank". I moved on to Bombay Sapphire gin and tonics and was very pleased with the bartender's heavy hand. I was sloshed in no time! At one point one of my drinks was served in a glass that had a chipped rim. I was drinking it from a straw and actually didn't notice until I had finished my drink. I alerted one of the managers (I assume that's who he was) who happened to be walking by, and he gave me a free drink! I didn't think that was necessary but I was happy to accept it! It was later in the evening when we arrived, and by that point they were only serving their Late Night menu, so our dining options were limited. R and I decided to share three appetizers. We had the potato skins, chicken quesadilla and the pork and shrimp dumplings. The potato skins were delicious! Best I've ever had. They were crispy and loaded with cheese and bacon. They were served with Ranch dressing on the side, which I thought was better than sour cream. The dumplings were good, but had a slightly fishy after-taste, the sauce they were served with was out of this world! The quesadillas were okay, nothing to write home about. The space itself is huge. It didn't look like it was so big from the outside. Inside it looks like your typical sports bar with TVs and junk all over the walls. The bar is a nice big area and there's a separate dining area. The bathrooms were nice and clean and well stocked. The employees were all nice and very friendly. Service was a little slow by our standards, but we're from the NYC metro area where everything is at lightning speed, so maybe some adjustment is necessary on our part in that area. As mentioned, they offer Buzztime trivia (I wish we hadn't been the only people playing!), a touch screen jukebox with a great selection, and loads of TVs with all sorts of sporting events. I'll be back to Kilroy's but I won't be rushing. I still have lots of places on my bookmark list to try out!

The Sunday Brunch is what you need to experience if you're interested in food. If you go there for night life, go to the back porch... it's hard to notice at first, but that's where all the fun is. The food is decent on a normal day, but it's the same owner of the Hokie House... so if you know what that means, you should enjoy the atmosphere. Don't go to talk there if they have a band... it's pointless. Great place for watching sports.

We've been going to Kilroy's for at least 30 years, but I think tonight will be the last time. Not only have they doubled their prices, they have cut the portions in half. Plating is poor, Food is mediocre and the Service is LACKING. My husband ordered terriyaki chicken, his usual favorite, NOT cheap at $18.00! I was flabbergasted when I saw his plate. There was one small chicken breast, which had been pounded to make it look bigger and it was covered with what looked to be bottled sauce and a pineapple slice. It did not look very appetizing. In the past, when he's ordered this entree, he has received two chicken breasts that were moist and meaty. When we asked about it, the waiter reluctantly said that he would check with the kitchen. After waiting over 10 minutes with NO response, we asked another waiter to see the manager. When the manager came, he told us that as long as he had been there, there was only one breast. Finally he reluctantly told us he would get another chicken breast. When it finally came, it was actually larger than the first one. Now, as if reluctant mediocre service wasn't enough, the waiter had the nerve to inform us that the tip on the bill was not as large as it should have been, because we used a coupon for $15 off an entree. Because we had used a coupon, their register added on an automatic 15% tip and the waiter was worried about receiving less money. I couldn't believe that he would ask for a larger tip! In actuality my husband pointed out to him that the tip was based on the original bill. I felt like telling him that the tip is supposed to be based on the service (his attitude was bad and his service was poor). Obviously Kilroy's does not care about keeping their customers, or they would not be so chintzy with the portions, and they would not have argued with us about the portion size.

When I was at a show put on by an acquaintance of mine, I was not surprised when he announced that the after party would be at Kilroy's. Kilroy's is that sort of place...a hood type sports-ish bar that a whole bunch of people can just pop in at. Well, unless there is a radio show event there -- then there is a line out the door (as with the last Junkies deal held here). In the lounge area there's sports memorabilia and college banners. I think I counted about 30 TVs in the dining area and lounge. You can talk to the staff and get one reserved to watch a game with your crew. During the week they have drink and appetizer specials from four until eight. For music, Tuesday and Saturday nights there is most likely a live local band playing and there's a DJ Thursday and Friday nights

Everything I've ever tried there is delicious!! My personal favorite sandwich is the Prime Ribon a Pita. Another great one is the Tuna Melt. The Sunday brunch is very large, lots of variety - good deal. Definitely wear your BIG pants to get your fill. Love the quaintness of the lounge area, all the banner, photos, article, posters - etc. The atmosphere is very friendly - reminds me of Cheers. The lounge food daily specials are great too. Not sure exactly how often they have music - but think is usually on Friday & Saturday nights. Have heard some of the different bands/groups and have enjoyed most everything I've heard.

It's been a feature of the area for decades and went back for the first time in years. Saturday night around 10 PM it was packed with people having fun. Went with a date to grab some drinks and we were both surprised at how packed it was. The cover band played a bunch of fun early eighties music - and the crowd age range was from about late twenties to early eighties as well. Wasn't the typical suburban bar with an overwhelming majority of older guys - it had a good mix of women and men and everyone seemed to be having fun dancing or yelling over the music. Jeans, khakis, slacks for the men and jeans, skirts, and dresses for the women. So pretty much wear whatever you want and you'd feel comfortable. Only had drinks: reasonably priced so can't comment on food, but will be coming back in the near future.

Sunday brunch hits the nail on the head! Never been here before, read about it on Yelp incidentally. It's a buffet, $16 per head excluding drinks. There's all sorts on offer - eggs benedict, omlet / egg station, pasta station, fresh oysters over ice, crawfish, steamed mussels, biscuits & gravy, the whole shebang. Really enjoyed this brunch and would really recommend it to people in the area who don't want to trek to Arlington or DC.

Like others I've been to Kilroy's more times than you can count. To the bar, for dinner, and occasionally to Sunday brunch. I think the thing this place has going for it is it's not pretending to be something it's not. How could it? With a full bar the place can get pretty loud, the dining area is a bit crowded, and if you've visited their restrooms you know they arent going out of their way for anybody. Some of the things i've really grown to like about Kilroy's: The tvs in the bar are numerous and show every game on sundays, the prime rib is definitely my favorite thing on the menu (wings are second), serve yourself bloody mary bar, weekday bar food specials, and finally the brunch is killer (it has all you expect at a brunch plus tons more stuff like oysters, crawfish, pasta station...)

The only reason this gets any stars is that it is somewhat convenient to get to of you live in burke, and has somewhat okay seafood that is over priced. Too smokey and kareoke is awkward and not fun.

Not a bad place to watch the game if you can stand the smoke. The dining room is nice enough, but it always seems like the servers are inexperienced and slow. The lounge, like I said, is really smokey, and on more than one occasion I've gotten sub par service from the bar staff. I do know that once the cocktail waitresses start their shift (3 or 4 pm, I think) service in the lounge dramatically improves. They seem to have some good daily specials, but the pricing seems a bit high. $9 for a burger and fries at a neighborhood sports bar? Food is ok, but just not worth what they're getting for it. Seems to always be the same people there, too, and if you aren't one of them, don't bother sitting at the bar.

Kilroy's is.....how do I put this......entertaining. It's everything you expect of a townie sports bar located in a strip mall far, far away.....and more! Besides being treated to the musical stylings of Jeff W.'s band, and sitting next to a biker chick in a confederate flag bandana, I was able to enjoy several hours of Ultimate Warrior Championship (a carbon copy of Ultimately Fighting Championship) playing next to the DC United v. LA Galaxy game. Muscular, extreme cage fighters and fit soccer-playing hotties. How could this get any better?! Excavating tortilla chips from underneath a mountain of toppings of Kilroy's Nacho Platter with Kevin L., Michelle P. and Takaki K. Learning that Jeff W. has mad beat boxing skillz, or as Kevin puts it "performed vocal percussion". Meeting Jack F.'s suburban doppelganger. The hot pink panties strewn over the left antler of the mounted moose head. Starting to fear for my safety as a rabid DC United fan began shouting at the top of his lungs to an image of David Beckham on the screen, " I hope Posh gets herpes!". Glad I went? Hell yeah!

You cant say I didnt give them a chance. Been there several times and each time the food got worse. Last time I was told just try the prime rib. I did and it was cold. I was told by the waitress that I could not get a baked potato with it until after 4 pm. Strange I get prime rib anytime but no potatoes before 4? What kind of rule is this? I am thankful I got out of there before some of the bar patrons got on the road. One guy was so tanked he had to have a friend hold him on the bar stool.

I have started to go to Kilroys about every Monday or every Wednesday when they start their happy hour. Cant beat $5 for a lb of wings! As a wing fan, my mouth waters for their hot sauce and Cajun. I drool just thinking about and usually cant wait until Monday or Wednesday rolls around. The atmosphere is terrific and the local crowd is fun. All though I don't go as often as some of the others I still fill like one of them well the waiters treat me as such anyways :). Great place and great for watching sports, news, poker, trivia, just about anything ... all you have to do is ask for the clicker!. See ya there I'm the one in blue jeans and gray shirt.

Good place to go for a meal when you don't feel like cooking and don't know exactly what you are hungry for. This restaurant has something for everyone. The wait-staff is friendly and responsive. They are very accomodating for individuals who have special dietary restrictions or are disabled. For a quick lunch the Ruben sandwich or fried fish sandwich fills the bill nicely. For dinner you can't miss with the baby back ribs, fish & chips, lemon salmon, salmon filet honey dijon, rainbow trout parmesan or chicken parmesan. If you are really hungry, try their prime rib. Just make sure you don't fill up on the hot biscuits!!

My fiancé loves this place. I really don't care for the food at all. This place is good for one thing: the bar and bar food (wings). This place is still around I think because there's absolutely no other bar or restaurant for locals to go to in this area of Springfield. Last time we were there we had a super great waiter.

My friend and I ate at Kilroys for a Tuesday lunch. With the server's advice I ordered the French Dip sandwich--it was excellent. It featured a generous portion of Roast Beef and a delicious dipping broth. The side salad was also very good. The service was good but not outstanding.

Kilroy's is the place to go for mom and pop style prime rib, end of story. Take your parents here when they are visiting from out of town, should be a blast. There is something on their menu for everyone. Atmosphere of the dining area is cool, love the buy war bonds and war posters from WWI and WWII. Place gets knocked because everyone sees it as a watering hole, but honestly their bar seems 100% better than the nightmare Kate's has become. Try their Tortilla Soup, Prime Rib and Prime Rib Sandwich, as well as their French Dip and the Bean Quesilla Sticks. You won't be dissapointed. Cajun Seasoning is also a must!

This restaurant is pretty good. They do, however, make some things better than others. They also provide various coupons which is nice. The chicken tortilla soup is really good and it comes in a taco shell with chips on the side. I order a bowl of this soup every time I eat here. The sandwiches are probably the way to go here. The burgers are decent as well. The chicken parmesan is not really that good. The bread/biscuits are really tasty so make sure your waiter/waitress brings you a basket full of them. The wait staff is usually fairly good. A couple of times I've had a less than average waiter. Most of the wait staff seem like they are college kids so I try to give them a litlte slack. It seems like it's a good place to watch sports although I have never sat in the bar area. It's also not that expensive and the coupons can definitely save you additional money.

Oh Kilroys, what an interesting place you are... Located in a strip mall with a somewhat ghetto looking safeway and a dairy queen, this spot is a local favorite. Every time i'm here i see the same waiters and waitresses, the same crazy drunk people acting like fools (with a new one every now and then, and the same man sitting in the corner with his beer and cigarette playing NTN trivia. There are probably 20 tvs in the bar, all with varrying sporting events (including UFC). And dont forget the crazy rat tail man who jumps into play with the band cause he happens to have his drum in the car. Or the drunk girl who took the advice of rat tail guy and flashed the band. Its not the classiest of joints, but some people like to call it home. I will admit that some of the prices are steep, but i do kinda enjoy the food. I feel like we shouldn't, but i do. The nachos are excactly what you envision bar nachos to be... greasy, messy and delicious. I actually really liked their veggie pita... i'm sure its not that healthy as its loaded with cheese, but its a start. If you're looking for something healthy, i suggest checking elseware. It is VERY smokey so dont plan on wearing your coats, pants, shirts or even underwear anytime soon after. I would be interested in checking out the brunch here sometime (brunch bunch anyone???) I feel like Kilroys fits into its own special category.... and for some reason i like it.

Well, unless there is a radio show event there -- then there is a line out the door (as with the last Junkies deal held here). In the lounge area there's sports memorabilia and college banners. I think I counted about 30 TVs in the dining area and lounge. You can talk to the staff and get one reserved to watch a game with your crew. During the week they have drink and appetizer specials from four until eight. For music, Tuesday and Saturday nights there is most likely a live local band playing and there's a DJ Thursday and Friday nights

Everything I've ever tried there is delicious!! My personal favorite sandwich is the Prime Ribon a Pita. Another great one is the Tuna Melt. The Sunday brunch is very large, lots of variety - good deal. Definitely wear your BIG pants to get your fill. Love the quaintness of the lounge area, all the banner, photos, article, posters - etc. The atmosphere is very friendly - reminds me of Cheers. The lounge food daily specials are great too. Not sure exactly how often they have music - but think is usually on Friday & Saturday nights. Have heard some of the different bands/groups and have enjoyed most everything I've heard.

It's been a feature of the area for decades and went back for the first time in years. Saturday night around 10 PM it was packed with people having fun. Went with a date to grab some drinks and we were both surprised at how packed it was. The cover band played a bunch of fun early eighties music - and the crowd age range was from about late twenties to early eighties as well. Wasn't the typical suburban bar with an overwhelming majority of older guys - it had a good mix of women and men and everyone seemed to be having fun dancing or yelling over the music. Jeans, khakis, slacks for the men and jeans, skirts, and dresses for the women. So pretty much wear whatever you want and you'd feel comfortable. Only had drinks: reasonably priced so can't comment on food, but will be coming back in the near future.

Sunday brunch hits the nail on the head! Never been here before, read about it on Yelp incidentally. It's a buffet, $16 per head excluding drinks. There's all sorts on offer - eggs benedict, omlet / egg station, pasta station, fresh oysters over ice, crawfish, steamed mussels, biscuits & gravy, the whole shebang. Really enjoyed this brunch and would really recommend it to people in the area who don't want to trek to Arlington or DC.

Like others I've been to Kilroy's more times than you can count. To the bar, for dinner, and occasionally to Sunday brunch. I think the thing this place has going for it is it's not pretending to be something it's not. How could it? With a full bar the place can get pretty loud, the dining area is a bit crowded, and if you've visited their restrooms you know they arent going out of their way for anybody. Some of the things i've really grown to like about Kilroy's: The tvs in the bar are numerous and show every game on sundays, the prime rib is definitely my favorite thing on the menu (wings are second), serve yourself bloody mary bar, weekday bar food specials, and finally the brunch is killer (it has all you expect at a brunch plus tons more stuff like oysters, crawfish, pasta station...)

Not a bad place to watch the game if you can stand the smoke. The dining room is nice enough, but it always seems like the servers are inexperienced and slow. The lounge, like I said, is really smokey, and on more than one occasion I've gotten sub par service from the bar staff. I do know that once the cocktail waitresses start their shift (3 or 4 pm, I think) service in the lounge dramatically improves. They seem to have some good daily specials, but the pricing seems a bit high. $9 for a burger and fries at a neighborhood sports bar? Food is ok, but just not worth what they're getting for it. Seems to always be the same people there, too, and if you aren't one of them, don't bother sitting at the bar.

Kilroy's is.....how do I put this......entertaining. It's everything you expect of a townie sports bar located in a strip mall far, far away.....and more! Besides being treated to the musical stylings of Jeff W.'s band, and sitting next to a biker chick in a confederate flag bandana, I was able to enjoy several hours of Ultimate Warrior Championship (a carbon copy of Ultimately Fighting Championship) playing next to the DC United v. LA Galaxy game. Muscular, extreme cage fighters and fit soccer-playing hotties. How could this get any better?! Excavating tortilla chips from underneath a mountain of toppings of Kilroy's Nacho Platter with Kevin L., Michelle P. and Takaki K. Learning that Jeff W. has mad beat boxing skillz, or as Kevin puts it "performed vocal percussion". Meeting Jack F.'s suburban doppelganger. The hot pink panties strewn over the left antler of the mounted moose head. Starting to fear for my safety as a rabid DC United fan began shouting at the top of his lungs to an image of David Beckham on the screen, " I hope Posh gets herpes!". Glad I went? Hell yeah!

You cant say I didnt give them a chance. Been there several times and each time the food got worse. Last time I was told just try the prime rib. I did and it was cold. I was told by the waitress that I could not get a baked potato with it until after 4 pm. Strange I get prime rib anytime but no potatoes before 4? What kind of rule is this? I am thankful I got out of there before some of the bar patrons got on the road. One guy was so tanked he had to have a friend hold him on the bar stool.

I have started to go to Kilroys about every Monday or every Wednesday when they start their happy hour. Cant beat $5 for a lb of wings! As a wing fan, my mouth waters for their hot sauce and Cajun. I drool just thinking about and usually cant wait until Monday or Wednesday rolls around. The atmosphere is terrific and the local crowd is fun. All though I don't go as often as some of the others I still fill like one of them well the waiters treat me as such anyways :). Great place and great for watching sports, news, poker, trivia, just about anything ... all you have to do is ask for the clicker!. See ya there I'm the one in blue jeans and gray shirt.

Good place to go for a meal when you don't feel like cooking and don't know exactly what you are hungry for. This restaurant has something for everyone. The wait-staff is friendly and responsive. They are very accomodating for individuals who have special dietary restrictions or are disabled. For a quick lunch the Ruben sandwich or fried fish sandwich fills the bill nicely. For dinner you can't miss with the baby back ribs, fish & chips, lemon salmon, salmon filet honey dijon, rainbow trout parmesan or chicken parmesan. If you are really hungry, try their prime rib. Just make sure you don't fill up on the hot biscuits!!

This review is for Tuesday/Thursday seafood night. Seafood fest lasts from 4-8PM in the bar and patio. Happy hour drink specials are going on at that time as well. I love that you can pick the music that plays through a juke box system. Seafood is yummy and you have a choice of lobster, oysters, crab legs and shrimp. It is priced by pound. Hot butter, old bay, cocktail sauce, vinegar and crab crackers are available. Buckets for discarded seafood shells are placed on your table. One thing I love about this place is that the owner is always walking around greeting his guests. It's almost like an episode of Cheers because well, everyone knows your name. It's definitely a place full of locals who come back on a weekly basis. Bathrooms and dining floor/bar/patio are always clean!

This review is based on the experience we had in the sports bar separate from the restaurant. The customer service was absolutely awful. First, the waitress was very rude and unprofessional. The bar waitresses all had different attire, making it difficult to distinguish them from customers or workers. Is there no uniform? She was wearing shorts, flip flops, and a tank top. How are we supposed to know you work here if you aren't dressed with a proper clothing. Second, a friend of mine lost her ID so she brought her Argentinian passport. The waitress questioned her to a point where it made her feel like she was being interrogated and felt somewhat offended. The waitress took her passport to the managers office for some reason then came back with her manager. I don't see why there was such a big issue. All you new to do is look at the date of birth and that's it! After she checked my ID she tossed back to me across the table. How about you hand it to me like a normal person with manners would. Third, the bar doesn't even have a drink menu and the food menu is only given to you if you ask. Fourth, our waitress did an awful job of checking in with us throughout our visit, but she checked in with the surrounding tables around us. The only time she actually came to our table to check in with us was when we received the check. The way she delivered herself made it seem like she wanted us out of there. In terms of cleanliness, the high top where we were sitting at were filthy. The table has residue from the previous diners and you could tell they hadn't been wiped down. The overall experience was disappointing.

5 stars for Melanie, our waitress, who was so insanely patient with my large group of obnoxious drunks. the food was great, the drinks were incredibly reasonably priced, and I have no idea how the heck Melenie kept straight who ordered what, but she was so on top of everything and never looked remotely phased or frustrated. She was incredibly friendly and engaged. I had the cajun wings with some hot sauce on the side and they were absolutely amazing. everyone around me had to try some. I strongly recommend.

Walking in we felt like we went through a time warp. It is dark inside, it took our eyes a few minutes to adjust. The decor is WWII-era advertising, support, and information. The tables are dark wood and the booths have high backs. It was clean which is impressive given all the wall decorations. The clients were older although being a Sunday afternoon there were a couple of families with young children. We both ordered hamburgers that were pretty good although the buns were really thick (I just removed the bottom half of the bun.) We also ordered the tater tots with toppings (cheese and bacon). They were good -- they are not on the menu but I misread and asked for tater tots with toppings (the tater skins and tater tots are next to each other on the menu and I apparently merged...) The waiter was paying attention, realized my misread and said they could do it with the tater tots as well. If you read my reviews then you know that matters to me and has me thinking I will visit again. It was quite and comfy. The staff we encountered were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I could tell they are working on the menu. There were certainly items from the 80s but it did not seem overly stuck, there were items that have trended more recently, the tater tots for example. Likewise, they have sweet potato fries and pretzel buns available. They know they are old school but acknowledge some more current bar food trends. I don't expect kale chips or chipotle mayo and that is OK. It felt like a comfortable place to sit and chat. They have several different theme specials (ribs, tacos, and seafood) which might be worth trying.

I overlooked the outside construction because it will add curb appeal when they finish. As I stopped in for lunch I asked my waitress her opinion between three items I thought I might like for lunch. She immediately suggested two others that were nothing close to what I told her I liked. I ordered the turkey deluxe sandwich stressing on wheat toast and no mayo. It was served on bread and slathered in mayo. I had to send it back. By the time it came back the original order of beer battered fries on the plate were cold. When I told my waitress I was done (I ate half of the sandwich) she asked if I wanted a box to take the rest home. I told her no, the sandwich was very average and the fries were cold. She asked if I wanted dessert!!!! LOL! No clue... This place is in a great location but don't expect much from the food side.

Prime rib dinner combo special every Friday - can't go wrong with that. It's a good deal for the amount of food you get. I got a medium rare prime rib, a side salad and steamed veggies. You also get some fatty bread as an appetizer. Make sure you get there before 6 pm so you're in on the special. The restaurant is really dated with a much older crowd. I think I'll return for their seafood night.

So, a dive bar with video trivia, a military theme, friendly staff, and an owner that ribs me for holding my wife's purse then buys me a whiskey shot to make up for it? Yes to all the things! Burgers are good, they have craft beer on tap, and decent whiskey behind the bar. They support veterans (given the owner is one), have a fun crowd, and I'll definitely be back to this place.

Worst experience ever. Bought coupon from livingsocial to test this place with my wife and my brothers. We ordered wings as appetizer, steak salad, 2 burgers, and Ahi tuna salad. The wing were okay, asked the waiter 3 times to bring extra dressing for and she kept forgetting it. Steak was salty. Both burgers were medium rare instead of medium and on both salads were the tomatoes bad, I mean BAD, that we put on the side. We told the waiter that the tomatoes were bad and she did not react to it. She brought us the check as nothing happened and wrote thanks on it. I was speechless and just wanted to get the hell out, because I would even want to come back even when they would have offered us free food.

You know, I'm not sure when this happened, but I have noticed a positive shift in Kilroy's the last few visits so I feel like an update is in order. They have revamped the menu and the food has gotten better and is more consistent. The service seems to have steadied out also, my last couple of visits have been really fun. It's been around forever and I'm happy to see it make improvements that will keep it around for much longer. So, if you're in Springfield and want a laid back place to watch a game (professional or college) and grab some food, Kilroy's is your spot.

They have been around since the 70's and the decor proves it! Reason for our continued patronage is because it's just down the street from home! When we get lazy, we seriously are dying for nearby bars, and this is the only close one. They offer a bar special every night. On Tuesday/Thursdays until 8pm, they offer crab legs, steam shrimp, oysters, lobsters, and mussels. The price is pretty good. The flavors of the seafood are ok. But then again, it's less than 10 minutes from home. There are some drink specials but nothing to rave about. Other nights, they have taco nights. Their website explains the specials. It can get crowded on Tuesday/Thursdays. Note: since this bar has been around forever, the clientele is quiet older.

I was a little bit, okay a lot of bit, skeptical when I first went here. The entire strip mall looks abandoned, and well, for the most part, it is. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Thursday happy hour. First, our waitress, totally cool lady. She did not pressure us to get drinks, and really let our party of 8 or so just relax and have a good time. I also really like the setup of their seafood happy hour. You actually just go to the back of the bar and get oysters by the dozen, clams, shrimp and other seafood by the pound and you pay back there too, so it's easy to manage. If memory serves me correctly, the oysters were $12 a dozen, and the other seafood was very reasonable too! As an aside, you can tell a lot about the place by the clientele and really the other customers were extremely polite, courteous, and friendly too! Definitely a great place to eat and relax.

This place has consistently decent food and is reasonable in pricing (My personal favorite being their Chicken Sandwich with Barbeque Mozzarella). Decor is obviously old but unique, bringing back WWII propaganda and home front American feel. There's always a lively crowd at the bar and in the dining room. The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. I've never had a terrible service experience here and sometimes it can be exceptional (The one server in mind is named Elle. I was very impressed with her attentiveness and thoughtfulness as well as her bright attitude even as closing approached). The things that concern me are the cleanliness of the restaurant and their reluctance to update simple things such as booth upholstery. Overall I believe that Milroy's deserves a solid 3 stars. Never a disappointment here but there are some changes that would be welcomed.

Meh. Used to love this place. Back in the 80s, it was THE go-to. Since then, the prices have skyrocketed and the quality plummeted. The young lady who seated us was just one step above surly. $19.99 prime rib didn't come with a salad nor bread... those were an upcharge, according to the waiter. I like to support locally-owned restaurants, but I think I'll just stick with my memories when it comes to Kilroy's.

This place has a sports bar separate from the restaurant. We went to the bar and ordered a couple of cokes and potato skins. The place needs to be updated and was a bit dingy. Having never eaten here before we intended to have drinks and dessert as long as our initial order was good. Sadly the service was terrible. We were ignored for the time we were there by the server. The potato skins were really bad. How can you ruin potato skins? This isn't rocket science. The only highlight was the hostess (?), or another server who took care of us. Ultimately, the bad food and bad service means we won't be going back.

My husband and I have eaten at kilroys for years with no.problems until today 10/26/14. We both had prime rib for lunch and a side salad. I had ranch dressing that was like water. The prime rib that is usually great was not. The meat was tough. Dissatisfied today:(. Fifty some dollars I don't mind paying if the food is good. This was terrible. For me to write something to a business such as this, the service has to be over the top excellent or the over the top horrendous... the reason for this letter... over the top, inexcusably horrendous. That's partly why I became a Yelper. I would have been happy here just sending an email to the restaurant, however, irionically, there is no place to leave feedback. Our club has been holding meetings at Kilroy's for the past several years. As for my personal experience, I have been attending over the past two and a half years. Unfortunately, every meeting I attend is met and served by on only one server... this has resulted in extremely long delays in getting drinks and food. The meeting is typically only for an hour so by the time the food comes out, most of the time, it's wrong, and almost evertime, the meeting is concluding when it gets there. As for drinks, we are lucky if we get two on average, and last night, we barely got one while some had even paid their bills before the rest of the table even got their first drink. In the past I have just treated this as a 'oh well, what can you do about it?' And we had decent servers who helped us bear with them. However, last night was the last draw... the little blond server's attitude was downright disrespectful and rude, and then she proceeded to ignore the whole table all night when we expressed our displeasure trying to explain to her that the table next to us sat down 20 - 30 minutes AFTER us and already was half way through their food before we could even get one drink order in. Her snotty response was that she was doing the best she could... and that if we didn't like it, there was a dining room inside to which we responded we couldn't that we were part of the meeting out here... she again retorted, "and I'm all alone here trying to sever everyone!" I however, did take her rude suggestion to just go to the bar because someone with such an attitude wasn't going to get any of my money... and, again, instead of offereing to even get us drinks, she turned away and continued waiting on people who came in after us. Apparently she decided we weren't worth waiting on at all and NEVER ONCE stopped at our table the whole night. We tried to grab another server that was just hanging around, just to get drinks. We asked, "Can you help us? We've been here almost an hour and haven't even gotten any drinks..." To which he replied, "Well no, not really, but, I guess I can maybe get some drink orders..." then he disappeared and another half hour or so went and no one had even come to get food orders until a manager appeared and ended up taking the orders at the table. Like I said, we are used to the slow service and try to just accept it but, last night, there was no excuse and the attitude that we got in return even more inexcusable. Later I heard the server telling one of the guys doating over her they weren't prepared or expecting this... um... one, its football Sunday... two, we have these meetings EVERY second Sunday of EVERY month (except holidays). That they "weren't prepared" conveys the managers had an epic fail because they failed to prepare their staff accordingly. Obviously the server needed help and that she refused to serve us at all the rest of the night (because I for one took her up on her suggestion to go to the bar and get a drink, and two, because someone TWICE her age expressed her dissatisfaction for the hostility and disrespect towards everyone), and that the others just hanging around refused to serve us as well, leaving it to the manager to take orders all prompted me to instigate a potential venue change for our meetings. I realize the loss of our business is not going to affect Kilroy's business all that much, but, it is sad because we could really bring in some good business and funds, been going there for years, and when served right, are typically a group that tips well. Very unfortunate and perhaps in my top three of worst customer service experience yet in my 40 years.

My fiancé loves this place. I really don't care for the food at all. This place is good for one thing: the bar and bar food (wings). This place is still around I think because there's absolutely no other bar or restaurant for locals to go to in this area of Springfield. Last time we were there we had a super great waiter.

My friend and I ate at Kilroys for a Tuesday lunch. With the server's advice I ordered the French Dip sandwich--it was excellent. It featured a generous portion of Roast Beef and a delicious dipping broth. The side salad was also very good. The service was good but not outstanding.

I knew there was a reason I had stayed away from this place for so long despite it being located a mile away from my house. I am all about dive bars and local establishments, but there's simply no justification for the dingy, rundown atmosphere and multiple moose heads (WHY would you need more than one, if even one?!) hanging on the walls at Kilroy's. Also, the food is far from stellar. I had the hickory BBQ burger and requested grilled slices of pineapple on top which the server was glad to oblige other than the fact that he clearly thought the request was odd. The burger tasted ordinary and the bun itself was dry. Apparently their burgers do not come standard with tomatoes and pickles - I found out later that they must be requested instead. My friends had the prime rib sandwich and flat iron steak which they told me was mediocre and a solid 3 stars. I had a bite of the steak which was surprisingly juicy but didn't enjoy the pairing with the béarnaise sauce provided, I personally would have preferred an au jus or even A1. Service was fine and I did enjoy the biscuits for what it's worth.

Bought a living social deal for the brunch buffet. It was a pretty standard buffet with nothing exciting. Food was ok, tasted fresh. The egg station was great but too many people so had to wait a while to get an omelette made. There was also a waffle station. Then the typical breakfast food-bacon, eggs, sausages, biscuits, gravy etc. Would I have been happy had I paid the full price?, probably not! Server was good and kept our drinks refilled. Overall it was an ok place, will try it again probably in the evening.

I love Kilroys! Hip and trendy it is not, but for a laid back environment with consistent comfort food, it's our spot. The biscuits with honey butter are to die for and I love the portabella pita -- on our most recent visit, I was so sad to see it no longer on the menu, but they were willing to make it anyway when I asked where it went. For a neighborhood joint staffed primarily by local high schoolers, we always have good service. Not the cleanest of places (tables are always a little sticky), but it's all part of the charm.

This place was pretty awful. Went for dinner and got prime rib and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was not seasoned nor cooked properly and the meat looked nearly grey. The potatoes were instant and the gravy from a jar. My boyfriend got the pound of shrimp and mac and cheese, and a side salad. The waiter got the order wrong so a 1/2 pound came and the mac and cheese was very obviously Kraft mac and cheese from the box. The salad was watery (as in a pool of water under the lettuce on the plate). Our food took an incredibly long time to come to the table. The bar bites (tater tots, mozzarella sticks) were pretty good and I can see how this is a fun pub stop, but never again for a meal.

Many things...first heard the Manager yell at our server because he asked to have the tv we were watching changed to the football game. Manager said he'll do it when it starts but not before. During the game I was looking for audio on my phone and the manager said not in the dining room. There was people eating but at the other end of the room not near us but we still couldn't try to hear the game on our phone. A few minutes later the manager was near the servers stand and we heard him say he wonders who else he could be a dick to tonight. Later we saw a mouse run along the wall under another table. There was already a big mouse trap box under that table. Another server said she saw it earlier this evening. Now to our food and drinks...my friend ordered a Southern Comfort and Coke and instead got Jack and Coke. My fries came out Luke warm and tasting very chewy. The server was nice and brought out onion rings at no charge to replace the fries and later when another friend ordered allowed her to upgrade to onion rings at no additional charge also. The server was a bit slow to clear the table of empty plates and refill our drinks but other than that was very nice. I used to eat here all the time a few years ago and it was great back then. This was the second bad experience in the last year so I'm now writing it up on here.

We family and I had an awesome experience here. We were greeted right as we sat down. The waitress brought our drinks right away. The waitress name was Kathleen. She was extremely sweet, attentive, and accurate. She came by our table often, and my glass of water was never empty. The food was delicious. This place has an old timey feel which I love. There are all kinds of military posters on the wall. It makes it feel like a bar, but in a restaurant setting. I enjoyed it. We ordered steak, salad, onion rings, French dip, cheese & bacon fries (which normally comes as potato skins, but the kitchen customized it for us), and BLT. Everything was made perfectly. I hadn't been to Kilroy's in almost ten years. We ducked in here for an early dinner to avoid a summer storm and traffic that typically ensues. So glad we did. It looked like nothing had changed since my last visit...except maybe the wait staff. The restaurant still had that old time nostalgic, rustic charm. They were running a 1.25 lb. lobster dinner special for $16.99, which included dinner salad and a side. It was delicious. My boyfriend ordered a cheese burger that was classic comfort food. Yes, our potstickers and sweet potato fries were out of a bag in the freezer. But they were actually pretty good. The biscuits and sweet butter were excellent. I consider myself somewhat of a food snob. I would give Kilroy's a solid three out of five stars. If you're looking for fine dining, Kilroy's is not the place. But it you're looking for very good comfort food, this is the place to go.

this is for brunch only ---- have been here many friday afternoons for happy hour on the deck, and that's always fine. they even have a taco bar for happy hour, which is good enough. wanted to take my daughters somewhere for brunch after church and this was closest to where we were. it was just awful. like, almost inedible awful. like, i was mad at myself for paying money awful. brunch shouldn't be that hard right? but couldn't even get eggs right. anyway, if you want to hang out and have some drinks out back, it's great for that. but stay away from the brunch.

Was craving some good ribs so ordered take out at Kilroy's - what a disappointment! Ribs are supposed to have some carmelized barbacue sauce with crusty bits on the outside; instead, these ribs look like they had been slathered with a thin, watery tomato based liquid on them. Probably the worst ribs I have ever had. The baked potato was hard and the accompanying slaw looked like it had been sitting out for a while. Appearance wise, presentation was the most unattractive; taste wise, the same. Kilroy's needs an intervention.

Living in the surrounding area I've heard of Kilroy's but never actually stepped inside. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed my time here! Kilroy's reminded me of a college dive bar. Its dark, loud, full of people, with tables and chairs where available. Our party took advantage of the $10 pitchers and ala carte seafood pay by the pound (Tuesdays / Thursdays from 4pm - 8pm). The seafood was fresh and steamed on the spot. We also ordered some biscuits and wings. Although seating was limited in the bar, patrons had the option to sit outside in the patio and still take advantage of the 4pm - 8pm special. Kilroy's offers dine-in seating which reflects C A D's review below. The crowd was a mix of age and ethnicity. Everyone was friendly including the staff. Kilroy's has a vast arrange of TV's all over the walls; however, they did play sound of the game due to a DJ setup at 9pm. So we left for another bar to watch the NBA Finals.

Great option for Sunday brunch. Food favors hearty over fancy and a couple of dishes left me in the "meh" category, but there was enough I enjoyed thoroughly to let me say that I'd be back if the opportunity presented itself. The belgian waffle boats won me over eventually (I'm a waffle purist) when I realized that the boat shape would keep the strawberries and syrup out of my cooked to order omelet. I also enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, home fries, and the fresh fruit w/ chocolate fountain. But the texture of the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict left something to be desired. There was also a pasta station that looked good and a nice assortment of pastries, but I'd already hit the wall and didn't get a chance to try. Likewise I didn't sample a few of the savory non-breakfast items on the buffet. There were also raw oysters - pre-opened and on a bed of ice. I love my raw bi-valves but with no idea of how long these had been sitting out I opted to pass on them. I loved the decor and enjoyed looking at all the war era posters and memorabilia. The place has a warm, cosy feeling - largely due to the lack of of natural light. Plenty of tvs to be had both in the bar area and in the main dining room.

Go for the beer and sports events - now that VA banned smoking you will not only survive the bar but may well enjoy it. If you like the sound of squeaking chalk or a rake across a sidewalk go for Karaoke night with the rest of the 40 somethings...

~2.5 stars~ I don't know if this place has been going downhill or I've just wised up about this place, but the brunches here have been leaving me empty for some time. I used to think Kilroy's had a solid brunch at a fair price, but after the last two visits, I now realize that I've been eating mediocre food at a too-high price. First of all, the brunch items never, ever, change here. And that's because the place has a standing order for the same food from the same sources (Sysco and Costco, most likely) every week. How many times do I have to see that gross bubbling cauldron of hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benedict, the dry, previously-frozen home fries, the large vat of fake egg mix for the omelettes and the display of tired breakfast pastries? And items that are homemade (too-cakey biscuits and way too-peppery crab soup) are poor as well. They also got rid of one of their biggest draws, the chocolate fountain, because "it was too messy." All right, I'll be fair. The Belgian waffle "canoes" are one of the best waffles in the area and the bacon is nice and crispy. But outside of that, Kilroy's serves food that is just as outdated and tired as the decor. It also still has a funk about it from the many years that smoking was permitted in the dining room. Ultimately, at $15.95, it costs too much for not enough good food. Luckily, I used my Entertainment coupon to get some $$ off and it came to about $12.00 each for two with tax and tip. Since that would seem like the absolute maximum that anyone should ever spend here for brunch, I'll probably come back only when I have that coupon. I have to say that our server was just great. But I think in the future, I'll leave this place to the numerous local families with their jillion kids to keep this place afloat (see the head-scratching glowing reviews of this place). When complacent places like this thrive, you really have to question the standards of NoVA diners.

Came back for the first time in a long time two weeks ago. American theme has gone from just on the walls to absolutely everywhere. Crazy! Food has great seasoning. Lettuce first came deal and gross. On both mine and my dads plate. Server states they don't have tomato unless the person asks for it-- I wanted tomato so had to wait for it. Sent it back no problems second time. Staff was very professional.

3.5 stars. I have only been to Kilroy's for brunch. I went today with a friend - it had been a long time since we've been here. The brunch spread has changed considerably since our last visit. They've pared down the offerings, but seem to have retained the best of what they served before. No more *meh* pastries or soups or rubbery pasta dish. They still have the omelet station, biscuits, sausage gravy, grits, bacon & sausage, steamed mussels, hash browns, fresh fruit, and Belgian waffles. We got there right when it opened at 10. Service was friendly and attentive, dirty dishes cleared promptly. I don't mind the patriotic décor, but it seems very dark inside - dark green walls and booths, dark wood, some tables have red, white & blue tablecloths, but it doesn't lighten up the room any. The food is decent - I especially like the biscuits. But they could step it up a notch in a couple of ways. First, you can get an omelet or scrambled eggs, but forget about a fried egg, because it all comes out of a vat of pre-beaten eggs (or egg beaters?). I don't know if the crowd gets too big to worry about the extra time it takes to crack an egg, but maybe keep a box of real eggs handy to crack open as an option for fried. Also, the waffles are good, but the strawberry topping is thawed, previously frozen, mushy strawberries in syrup, and the big bowl of attractively piped "whipped cream" is Cool Whip. I would recommend offering fresh strawberries that have been tossed with sugar to create its own syrup, and real whipped cream. When strawberries are out of season, maybe try a different seasonal topping (fresh sliced peaches, cinnamon apples, caramel pecan, any non-canned fruit pie filling, like blueberry or cherry). Otherwise, I'd skip the fruit and stick to pancake syrup. The brunch price is AYCE for $12 - not bad. I'd be willing to pay more for more homemade goodness.

Great american food. I've been going here for the past 15 years and its easily one of my favorite restaurants. The French Onion soup is awesome as well as the fried calamari. They have great sandwiches and entrees and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some great tasting american food.

Have been going here for years and recently have started to revisit this place. It is a great place to watch games and get together. The dining area could use an update or two, but I like the pictures and postings. Tend to have a better experience with service in the bar or lounge areas. As for the food... Go with the sandwiches and you will be satisfied. The turkey club, fish sandich are good choices. Some good apps to pick from as well. The dinner entrees are average and do not do much for me, however, the dinner biscuits are good!

Stopped in here after work and before class... didn't really know what to expect... but the space was bigger than I thought it would be. Typical sports bar with lots of tables, tv's, beers on tap, and dimly lit rooms. I might have enjoyed it more if I were a single 40 year old woman. Seriously, you might have to have an AARP membership to be regular here. But the food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. I went right during happy hour and my yuengling was still $4 so I don't know what's happy about that....

While visiting our aunt in Springfield, Virginia, we treated her for dinner, her choice? Kilroy's. The interior is tired, but I have to say we loved the wonderful old posters, that cover their walls...from old Rockwell to vintage WWII, all of it very patriotic. The place is a neighborhood bar and restaurant and always busy. We sat in the dining room where it was quieter. The bar was hopping, it was Monday night and people were coming in to eat and watch football. The food is good, really good. I had their "STEAMED SPICED SHRIMP - 1/2 pound of Jumbo gulf shrimp steamed with Old Bay seasoning and served with cocktail sauce." The shrimp were large, like prawns and perfectly seasoned and cooked. My husband had their "PRIME RIB - A full cut of mouth watering beef, carefully seasoned, slow roasted, hand carved and skillfully trimmed," and it was just that. Our aunt had She Crab soup and said it was scrumptious. Our waitress was friendly, but not attentive. She brought me plenty of napkins to keep my hands clean while I peeled shrimp, but never kept our table bussed, so it was a mess by the time we finished dinner. The horseradish they brought out for my husband's prime rib was old, so was the cocktail sauce they served with my shrimp. Bottom line, the food is great, but the service really needs improvement. The place needs a facelift.

It's only a few blocks away, so it's been a kind of default for those nights when we're too hungry to think straight. Unimaginative but OK menu. My wife likes the lobster. The burgers are decent, so is the club sandwich. My biggest gripe: I used to get the fisherman's salad, which I really liked - big, full of fresh seafood, healthy. But last year it disappeared from the menu. As a result, the frequency of our visits has dropped.

A very old standard that seems to have improved in food quality. I ate at the bar side of restaurant on a very busy Friday night. They do have booth seating that is quieter on other side. I had beef skewers, an appetizer and fish sandwich. First, I seldom do appetizers because most are fried, oversalted yuck. This was a surprise on menu and very nice. strips of excellent grilled beef about 1" x 1" x 5". Could taste a bit of salt and pepper and perhaps some marinade of some kind. Grilled taste combined with hot really hit the spot. Only criticism was the server could have brought it first and then brought sandwich. I did not complain as it is not a big thing. But, it would have been better to share with friend casually. Felt rushed when they came together - as though the server was very busy with full bar and turning table for next clients may have been on the mind. The fish sandwich was very good. Excellent chewy bread and very hot fried fish. The french fries were very hot as well. I like hot food as it is right at it's best at that moment. A big beer with the whole thing and it was a good evening visit with a friend. Only suggestion would be to get appetizer out there sooner and give customer time to relax. I would have had a second beer and linger longer otherwise. Look for beef skewers! I would consider ordering them and then a big salad next time. Not crazy about bunny food. But, wife and doc say it is good for me. So beef for me and bunny food to make them happy, eh?

Wow - what the heck happened to Kilroys?! Or was I lulled into believing that their food is good because of the Sunday Brunch I have enjoyed there on so many occasions? The service was fine, but the food was abysmal and the place smelled like old, damp... just old damp... I went for the seafood scampi special for $17.99. It came with a house salad - how do you get tough lettuce? It had the consistency of shoe leather, and the balsamic vinaigrette tasted more like dark brown 7 Seas italian dressing. PLEH. That's okay, I've got seafood scampi headed my way. 4 shrimp and 2 varieties of sea snot (any mollusk), in MY mind, does not qualify as a 'seafood' medley... throw in a scallop, maybe a chunk of crab or two - for crying out loud it was seafood night! I am not a huge fan of sea snot, but I was starving and figured I could mask it with the linguini and sauce. Hmmm... sauce... right... about that. Is that the little puddle of liquidy, brothy stuff underneath the heaping pile of over-cooked linguini utterly coated in large chunks of barely cooked garlic? The stuff that I manage to whip into my own eye trying to make the most of a terrible situation?? Not so much. My fellow diners didn't seem displeased with their meals - fish n chips and sandwiches, so maybe this place will work for people with little to no expectations or for bar food. Wait... that was redundant. At least the company made it worth the visit... Boo hiss... Won't make that mistake again.

Underwhelmed - friends had really played this place up and upon my one and only visit here I've got to say I'm pretty unimpressed. The steak sandwich was, to borrow a fancy word: uninspired. There's a good place for pub fare that is simple and tasty, but that doesn't mean plain and low on taste. For as many fans as this place has, I'm left to my own devices to assume Kilroys has a large and loyal fan base who go there for many things besides food. The service okay but not the best. The prices seemed high to moderate. I went there for an after work function but will steer towards other places going forward.

A couple of friends and I were finishing up at Sharp Shooters and decided to grab a drink nearby. The friends, who are locals, said this was the best bar around. Not that I have anything to compare it to, but if this was my local bar I would have no complaints. The drinks were super cheap ($5 each for a whiskey/coke and a beer, and it wasn't even happy hour) and the artichoke dip was tasty. I could have done with a little less patriotism, but hey, it's DC-adjacent, I should expect it. I will not be ordering the Patriot Act Martini, though. Mmmm... tastes like bureaucracy....

I try to limit the number of visits I make to Virginia but when the opportunity came about to see Jeff W play Halloween night at Kilroy's, I kindly obliged. When we arrived, the place was not full but it wasn't too long before there was a bit of a crowd and cigarette smoke filled the room. We were greeted by our server and quickly obtained beverages. One giant Blue Moon was really all I needed for the night as I tend to have a bad case of the Asian Flush. Any more than that and I'd have been toasted since this was one of my first drinks post-surgery and painkillers. Post-beer, our server promptly fulfilled my request for water and it was much appreciated! Earlier in the day, Kevin mentioned wanting to share nachos but I was hungry and his arrival was not for another hour so I ordered the grilled cheese + fries. Buttery and toasted on the outside and warm, melty cheese on the inside - just the way a grilled cheese should be. Fries were also hot and crisp and not soggy or limp. Other New Day Rising groupies shared the "as giant as your arm" mozzarella sticks. Yes, they are quite large and though I didn't try them, they looked tasty. Later when Mr. L finally arrived, I did help him destroy the plate of nachos along with Tu-Van + hubby. They definitely lived up to the hype! Unlike most other places where the ratio of chips to toppings is never right, Kilroy's makes the mark. Endless layers of cheese, sour cream, ground beef, guac, lettuce, tomato and jalapenos will surely fill your belly and there's so much, you may even run out of chips first! In between songs and sets, we had a grand time doing some people watching (there was a group in the corner and the one girl had an interesting Medusa Halloween costume) or watching the World Series on any of the many many TV's all around the place. For those uninterested in baseball or whatever other sport was being broadcast, there were also TVs just for games like trivia and poker. Basically, you have no reason to be really bored here! My only peeve of the evening was leaving reeking of cigarette smoke. VA smoking laws have changed since my original visit so while I'd have said there's probably no chance I'd ever return, that would now be a lie! Hearing New Day Rising perform will be that much more enjoyable without the smoke seeping into my hair and clothing. Oh and brunch - I hear their brunch is pretty good so perhaps that would be another reason to return VA and pay Kilroy's a visit!

I recently disavowed my regular place (another local family owned sports bar) after being treated rudely by staff, and have been coming to Kilroy's instead. It is such a pleasure to encounter service with a smile (sorely missed at most restaurants nowadays), good pub fare that isn't overpriced, and fun music being played. Also, i love the fact that Kilroy's keeps me up-to-date with daily Facebook postings, letting me know what food and drink specials are in place each day, what sporting events will be shown, and what live music is coming each weekend. Kilroy's doesn't try to be an upscale, swanky bar - it doesn't have to. It excels at focusing on its patrons as neighbors and friends, and being a true community place (community not just as a noun, but as an adjective) - this is the valuable attribute that is lost at chain places. With all of the new places to eat and drink popping up in the Merrifield and Fairfax Corner areas, the only way local restaurants are going to survive is to take care of its customers, and especially its regulars. Kilroy's has this down!

Friendly staff Quick service School lunch quality food (like a public school facing budget shortfalls lunch..) This place is spacious, has lots of tv's and lots of parking behind that I never remember about. I only came here once and I got a philly cheesesteak. It was pretty disappointing, the bread seemed quite cheap, and it tasted like steakums meat was used. All I know is im pretty sure ive gotten better cheesestakes in middle school. I was there watching NCAA basketball and we decided to get dessert. The dessert was also bad, it tasted cheap and was sorta obviously a previously frozen dessert that tasted like something you get at the grocery store. The food wasnt too expensive, but it was overall just very disappointing. They have a cool bar part that ive never been to and they also advertise happy hours. If i were to come here again, id recommend sticking to drinks only. The service is what prevented this place from getting 1 star.

"Meh. I've experienced better." Says it all. Let me say first, I LOVE dive bars. Ok, our party of 3 sat outside on the deck/smoking area. The heat lamps were awesome and the option to smoke while drinking overshadowed the dingy outer appearance of the deck. We all had some beers then moved to Jack&Cokes. I realize there are pouring regulations for liquor but I sure would have loved some whiskey in my almost $6 drink. So the drinks I had were soft, oh well. My woman ordered the steamed shrimp plate or whatever it's called and I had an order of hot wings. The shrimp was actually pretty good, but then again, it is kind of hard to eff up steaming shrimp. The wings were ok. I think they should label that sauce "buffalo" instead of "hot." Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just the way good wings should be. Now to the most disappointing part of the evening, the service. Inattentive, everyone at the table holding empty glasses, less than friendly... pretty much bad, slow service that warranted a low tip. However, since my girlfriend is a bartender in Alexandria, she convinced me to tip well and our waitress came out with 20%+ on our $120 tab. Bottom Line: I will try this place again but probably dine inside at a booth and see if it's any different. The only reason I would come back to the deck portion would be a Jeep meet or a band I really liked. Review edits pending second visit...

I've never actually eaten here, only been to the bar. This place is pretty spacious, lots of tables in both the dining area as well as the bar. Filled with lots of white people, ranging from college kids to people old enough to be your parents. Being Asian, I felt kind of awkward for part of the night: people stared at me and some man and his wife looked me up and down and said, "she would do" (and that's when I ran). Bartenders were quick, drinks were good. Can't really remember too much about the prices. If you do as I did and come with a group of friends and grab a few beers- you won't really remember too much of the details (was there music? I'm not sure. How many TVs? I don't remember...) There's also lobster in a machine that you can put money into- one of those claw machines- and if you end up grabbing one, they will cook it for you there. (Say whatttt?) Sometimes this place can be kind of... peculiar. Really, I think you'd have to go to understand, as it is hard to understand. (Not that there is anything wrong with this place, just something that I can't quite put my finger on...)

I've been here a bunch of times to play music but only recently actually came as a patron. I've had their bar food offerings which are actually much better than you'd expect but I came specifically for their Sunday $16.99 (I think?) brunch buffet. I had heard good things about brunch from Laura V but I was still pretty shocked at how great it was! It consists of a seemingly endless spread of foods, all fresh and well prepared. From sausage, bacon, eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, french toast sticks, potatoes and eggs benedict, to their omelet station, stir fry station with shrimp, noodles and veggies, to their endless offering of raw oysters, steamed muscles and crawfish, to the homemade waffle bowls with strawberries, fresh whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. What an offering! And it was all great. It was almost overwhelming and I kept wanting to go back and try it all. I barely even had room for anything on their dessert table! This is seriously one of the most underrated and unknown brunch options out there so I highly recommend coming out to try it for yourself. From the outside (and even from the mooseheads on the wall inside) you might not expect good food, but I swear their brunch is a thing of beauty.

We go here for the happy hour food or to satisfy the occasional buffalo wing or fish and chips craving. The Fisherman's platter is humongous. When I first saw it I literally laughed at how ridiculously big it is... And it's gooood. Deep fried heaven, especially the clam strips. Best time to go there is the Monday happy hour- cheap buffalo wings and half priced burgers. A steal. Friday's tacos are a greasy and yucky disappointment though. Not even worth the "2 for 1$" price. And I'd rather grill a steak from Giant myself than eat it there.

Last night, hubs indicated that he'd like to have brunch on Sunday (today) so when I woke up this morning, I jumped on Yelp to find some suitable places. I narrowed down the choices and sent them to him, via e-mails o he'd see them when he woke up. Since the brunch buffet here seemed to have pretty good reviews and the location was not too far, we decided on Kilroy's. The location was pretty easy to find, and very unassuming, in what appears to be a pretty ancient strip mall. Little to our surprise, the majority of the clientele was pretty ancient as well, and hubs even stated, "looks like a place I'd bring my grandma." Still, we made it his far, so we stepped on in, saw the sign, $15.99/pp brunch buffet and were seated. The decor was pretty neat! Almost like a woodsy-retro themed lodge with memorabilia and animal heads on the walls. Definitely lots to look at! Anyway, the booths were big and decorated tastefully. After a waitress took our drink order (both coffees, also I ordered a water) we were unleashed upon the buffet - and there definitely was a fair amount! Breakfast favorites like eggs benedict, maple sausage, bacon, potatoes o'brien, biscuits and sausage gravy...plus other lunchy stuff like caesar salad, cabbage rolls, lasagna. I didn't have any of the lunch stuff, but the breakfast stuff was homemade and good! In addition to the main line of food, there were three 'stations' - pasta, omelet and waffle. I can't speak for the first two (wasn't hungry enough!) but the waffles were awesome...smaller sized, they were kinda shaped like nutter butter cookies with raised ridges so they could 'hold' filling - in my case, strawberries and whipped cream! Mmm. Also, there was a seafood bar with oysters, mussels and crawfish (again, not hungry enough) and a chocolate fountain with a variety of fruit to dip, as well as marshmallows. I definitely was a fan of the chocolate fountain and judge me all you want, but I definitely dipped a piece of bacon in there...mmm tasty! After the coffee was factored in, we paid just shy of $40 for the two of us - so, the price was ok, but not *quite* worth it, since we really didn't eat that much. I'd recommend Royal Restaurant 's brunch over this one, however.

This review is specifically for their seafood fest happy hour (currently Tues & Thurs 4-8 p.m.) Love love love! What not to like when fresh seafood is paired with great pricing? The service could be a lil bit better ... but the restaurant was packed ... and our waitress was pregnant. So i marked it up as her being hormonal ...

I've been to Kilroy's more times than I'd really like to admit. Certainly not for the atmosphere, or the quality of food. Merely because it is right across the street from Wakefield Park, where a bunch of dirty, sweaty mountain bikers fit right in with the local Kilroy scene. Famished after burning a few hundred calories, one doesn't nitpick over the quality of beef served on the steak-um, er... cheese steak sandwich. From my experience, here are some of the things you can't go wrong with: -burgers... decent sized, and you score some fries. -chix wings.... surprisingly not bad, and this comes from a Buffalo girl who knows wings!! -onion rings.... the yummy beer battered kind, not the crusty, crumbly kind. -quesadilla....they don't skimp on the fillings! -turkey and swiss croissant...a decent choice ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Â~~~~ On my personal "avoid" list: -french onion soup... unless you like majority of your soup to be sopped up by a huge piece of french bread -sliders....just get a full sized burger -cheese steak sandwich....unless you are a steak-um fan -salads....just not a good choice when you're at a bar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Â~~~~ The service has typically been fine, although the food seems to take longer when you sit outside on the back patio. A trade off for better air quality.

Great no-frills chill bar in the Springfield not far from 495. Nachos were fully decked out and great to share with a small group. Rest of the food is standard bar far (though I wouldn't order seared tuna sashimi from a bar IMHO). Live bands play there.

I've gone to Kilroy's a couple times for brunch and once for dinner. Overall, I would say the food is OK. They have nightly specials, like a burger night, etc. It's basic American style food. The brunch has a lot of variety (omelet bar, waffles, seafood, bacon, eggs, etc. and is a buffet style service. Dinner was moderately priced but I think the brunch is a little over-priced ($25 bucks a person). The service is always friendly and the decor is pretty basic with various WWII and WWI posters, pro-American, war bonds, etc. Overall: food is OK, service is good

I've been going to Kilroy's ever since I was a little kid. They were actually a sponsor for my little league baseball team. They have quality traditional american food. Definitely not the best I've ever had, but certainly better than most. Recently, a friend and I have met up here on many occasions to reminisce about growing up in Springfield/Annandale. It's really nothing THAT special, but it is an all around good neighborhood restaurant.
