Terrible service. We waited about 90 minutes total. I won't be back.

We went in on a Tuesday night, and only had about a 10 minute wait. Not bad at all. I've heard it gets WAY worse on a weekend. This is a comfy looking, family-type place that also has a great bar area for those friend-nights-out situations. So the friendly hostess seated us in what seemed to be a way out of the way section, but we were lucky enough to have A.J. as our waiter. This kid was so on the ball it was insane. We told him we hadn't been there before, so he knelt down to where he could talk about menu options in detail. Told us his favorites, things to try...etc. So we ordered drinks (margaritas - REAL reasonably priced! $4.95 for a bigass schooner. SRSLY!? YES!)(and they were GOOD - Maui one is really nice), and then ordered the grilled Cajun catfish and the Baked Spasagna. The catfish was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was amazing. Not too spicy, but just enough heat to it. Even the rice that they had the fish laying on was good. The baked spasagna...omg. It was this giant hunk of what looks like lasagna, but it's made with spaghetti noodles!! I had it with the meat sauce which was SO good. There's enough for two dude-meals, or three girl-meals. Typically. Right before the meal came, A.J. brought us a couple of their homemade croissants to try. *slobber* Sorry...croissants have that effect on me. These were absolutely wonderful. He put some honey butter on them, and if there had been 72 of them on that plate, I'd have found a way to scarf 'em all down. Then he brought us a sample of their broccoli cheddar casserole. Fan-freakin'-tastic. Broccoli was not overcooked, the cheese had a lovely flavor, and there were crispy bits from the top of the casserole. SRSLY good stuff. I also ordered a cup of the chicken tortilla soup, because I'm kind of obsessed by tortilla soup...and this was some of the best I've had. I was only sorry I didn't order the 75-gallon size that they could just have backed up to my house and dropped off. Unfortunately, A.J. had a family emergency, and had to leave, but asked if we'd mind if he brought the check early so he could close out. It was not a problem, and he was very apologetic about it - even though his father in law had just been in an auto accident. This guy had professionalism down to an art form. I'll be asking to sit in his section the next time I go.

I have been here a few times since it has opened for both lunch and dinner. Food is good and consistent. Prices are very reasonable for what you get and for the atmosphere you are in. Lunch time soups, salads and sandwiches are all good. For dinner, you can't go wrong with a burger and my favorite, the salmon. All of the sides that come with the entrees are great. The only thing I have had that I wasn't impressed with was the fish tacos. They really were not that good. Bar drinks were good and reasonably priced. My only dislike of the bar was the beer and wine list were very generic. They were lacking substance in this area.

Third and newest location in San Antonio just north of the Forum and Costco. If you know Cheddars, then you know them to have a large menu of very reasonably priced and good items. It's also why this place can be so busy even on a Wednesday night. Recommend exiting 35 at the Forum and following Frontage road up past Costco. Be careful where you turn in. Never been to a Cheddars I didn't like.

I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed at any location We have ever gone to. Even if there is a wait, u r still seated when They say u will be. Everyone is so friendly! The service is always good. Dinner was excellent as usual. My steak was cooked medium just like I like it. Melted in my mouth! My husband was having mild spasms over the baby backs! We hadn't been since We left Arlington. Now We have officially added it as our once a month go to spot. We will always keep them on the list! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for fresh food cooked just the way u like!

A good, cheap place to go to for a well cooked meal. Every time I go I'm never disappointed. I always get the chicken parmesan salad and its delicious!

We've eaten there twice in the last few weeks and the food was fantastic both times. The Cornmeal Catfish was the best I've had in over 3 years! (Haven't found any I liked better in the whole San Antonio area!!) My vegetables were cooked perfectly, as well. My daughter had the Monte Cristo sandwich which she also loved (and shared bites with some of us - YUM). I can also vouch for the Asian Salad. In fact, all the meals ordered were enjoyed by each of us. Highly recommend!

5 stars for food. 1 star for service total stars: 3 out of 5 I really do LOVE THE FOOD, and its decently priced.. HOWEVER the service is always a hit or miss. The last server I had was a young female (name I cannot recall) and she kept forgetting everything. WRITE IT DOWN. That's what note pads are for. She brought me and my boyfriend each a salad but did not bring my dressing (took 15 minutes for her to get back to the table and ask what I needed, "my dressing" I stated) another 15 minutes goes by still no dressing... my boyfriend is DONE eating and I'm still sitting there looking and my avocado turning brown from the amount of time it took her to return. When she finally came back to the table, she picked up his empty salad dish and proceed to walk off! UMM HELLLO where the F***** is my dressing. I waited literally over 30 minutes for something that was never coming. Once that en-devour was over we finally got our meals... god forbid she get us refills, she was constantly too busy flirting with other waiters. Needless to say I was annoyed beyond belief. Regardless of the food. I will NEVER go back to THIS PARTICULAR location again.

We showed up for a late lunch, 1:00pm on a Saturday. The lunch rush was over and they seated us immediately. The waiter comes by after about 5 minutes only to tell us that he will be right back to get our drink order. 15 additional minutes and he comes back. We give him our drink orders and both order the soup and sandwich lunch combo. Unsweetened tea is not a complicated drink to make so we didn't expect a 10 wait for them show up at the table. My wife and I both ordered a club sandwich but we had different soup selections. (tortilla / potato) It took forever for the plates to come out and we noticed that others seated in different sections didn't have the same issue. People seated after us were already being served their food and they were more complex orders than ours. The food finally showed up and the sandwich was a little small, but tasted good. The potato soup was better than the tortilla, but both were good. Terrance, our waiter, said he would bring us more tea. He ran by and slammed our cups down and forgot the lemon. He ignored us as we called after him asked for some. It took him so long to bring things out that we were afraid to give him our card so we just left him cash and got the hell outta there!! A quick lunch took over an hour and should have been 20 min tops! Had we been able to find exact change we may not have left a tip at all. We were tempted to warn others to ask to move to another section as we saw them seated around me. The only saving grace is that the food was really good, not good enough to offset the terrible service, but good.

Cheddars used to be a go to restaurant for my husband and I, but I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon. Service was good, but our food was awful and you can tell they are cutting corners with portions and quality. My husband ordered a fried chicken salad and it came with a handful of lettuce and probably 1 chicken tender cut into small pieces. A salad that used to be enough for a full dinner for a grown man is now little more than a side salad with some chicken crumbles. Disappointing

This was our first time here and we loved it! The Monte Cristo is a can't miss and what can I say about the honey croissant...fresh and awesome. Our server Daniel was knowledge, nice and knew the menu. We will be back for sure!

We've been 3 times to this location and each time the service has been horrible. The food is good and fresh, but it takes so long to get it it's not worth it any more! Here's a quick review of our 3 visits: 1) During winter, we went and the place was freezing! We sat in the bar and had cold air blowing right down on us! Since the restaurant was full couldn't be moves so we ate freezing and our food turned cold once it finally arrived. The manager said there was nothing he could do. 2) We went with our sons and waited longer than quoted. Once seated it took forever to be greeted, and to get our food. The server was friendly (actually he was too chatty) but forgot small requests several times. We ended up boxing our food up to take home to finish. 3) We went in at 5:15 on a Friday night, with a party of 4. We were quoted 20 minutes, which isn't normally too long, except the restaurant wasn't even half full! There was staff standing and even sitting around. We left. We weren't going to risk another long and poor service experience. The food is great, so will probably only ever do to go at this location. Perpetual bad service is a reflection of management.

Came on a Sunday, have to say pretty good food! Service was fast and waitress was pretty awesome as well

Horrific service at bar. Luke was rude unattentive and almost seemed pissed off. Blond lady on labor day evening couldn't crack a smile if it killed her. The worse service I've experienced. I seemed rushed by them. My drink sat empty blond lady couldn't be bother while Luke ignored I needed another. Honestly didn't eat much just because I wanted to get the hell out of there. I hope there is a survey on ticket. Tortilla soup ok a little smooshy (is that a word lol). It was close to My hotel should have gone to hooters. You see these character's ask for table.

There are 3 things that bring me back to this place 1- the honey crossant. I can eat them for a meal and leave a happy man. 2 - Happy hour drinks. They are cheap and pack a punch. Don't get fooled by the pain killer. It is not very tasty and not as strong as advertised. But their long islands are pretty good and pack a punch. 3 - You can't beat the combo prices. It's southern comfort food but in a chain restaurant style. I've tried the steak that was juicy but pretty small. The chicken and waffles were good one time and sucked the next. The sides are usually pretty bland so stick with basics there. The service is pretty much always sketchy. We usually opt to sit by the bar and hope to get decent service. Don't bother on the weekends as the lines go out the door and food takes forever to get to your table.

Can't believe this isn't rated higher. Very nice clean restaurant with great menu and prices. Been 3 times with no service problems and the food tasted great. Burger was good, chicken sandwich with avocado and aioli is my favorite!

  • Ang M.

Well, that was a first and last time I eat here. Everyone else liked their meals but my chicken was dry and my sides were wrong but I didn't complain I just boxed it up for my dogs. The decor was nice but the quality of everything else was subpar. The restrooms were atrocious liked they hadn't been cleaned all night. Prices were good and the dessert was tasty but its just another just ok chain restaurant.

3.5 STARS! Food 3 Stars, 4 Stars on value, Margaritas 6 Stars!!! Those Texas margaritas were no joke! Huge, pack a punch, nice smooth flavor and not tart. Best part $3.75 each...Damn. I've never been here before but always pass by it. I'm not a chain restaurant kind of fan but the ambiance is better than Chilis and the food is way better than an Applebees and it's a Texas based chain so... good to support! The price for food here is jaw droppingly cheap. Every entree is ridiculously low in price. Where the hell have I been when looking for a cheap place for me and all these damn kids?! The service was great. From the hostesses to the servers and waiters they were young but all smiles and great all around. The food came out quick. The queso sucks as it is basic canned cheese. The chips are good though. Salsa is lame. They actually take canned salsa and chop tomatoes in to make it seem fresh LOL. I ordered a ceasar salad to start and it was fresh. The lettuce was crisp and cold. The dressing was spot on. For the entree I pigged out because first off, I've never seen a sirlion steak paired with chicken tenders. Second, it came with two sides and third, it was all for only $12.95. FML. The steak wasnt fatty but is wasnt tender either. It was over salted but well over 6oz in size. The tenders were limp, not crisp and somewhat mushy so dont get your hopes up. They cant compare to a Chilis chicken crispers. The broccli was bright green and flavorful but still frozen as were the green beans. 3 STARS on food. Enjoy, especially if you have lots of kids.

First, my chicken fried steak tasted like fish. If I'd wanted fish, I would have ordered it. And the place was incredibly loud. Price was ok, and I liked the small dessert options. Still, you NEVER fry anything else in fish grease. I will never go back.

I just ate at Cheddars for the 1st time and won't be back. The food and service was awful. I had the Vegetable Plate. The baked potato was ice cold and the sour cream was bad. No spoon to eat my corn or apples with. My son had the Chicken Fried Steak and he couldn't eat it. He ordered mashed potatoes to go with his dinner and just before they brought out the plates the server came and said they were out of mashed potatoes. Really? How do you run out of potatoes? At dinner time? Total waste of money.

The foods good, just upset at how much this place has really gone downhill. Seems like the staff don't really care about the customers or job.

I have been a regular since they opened. Have been on Saturday evening and Sunday at noon. Sat night got right in. Excellent service from Jennifer. Always the same top quality menu items and I try most. Like lunch sized portions at all times. They kept drinks refilled continuously which is rare in many places. Wait staff Always checks food quality satisfaction after being served. I have never found a reason to complain. Also found same quality at l-10 location. By the way I usually not a fan of chain restaurants but this stays on my list!

Food was too battered in flour. Wrong order was brought out. Waitress made a mistake in charging the whole card. The waitress took forever to bring our drink. Food was okay.

I only came back to visit because cheddars manager personally invited me back to lunch and cheddars sent me a gift certificate because of the horrid first visit. It's a busy Sunday afternoon. Hostess Sat us at a booth. We began to look at the menu. Cody B. (waiter) came by and politely ask us for our drink orders. He was extremely wonderful! He came back our drinks and we ordered a triple treat. Nachos, potato skins and mot sticks. It was delish. It was enough for a family of 4 to share. I ordered a tilapia with mango salsa with edamame,& bake potato. Yum!! My children shared the grilled chicken Alfredo. They loved it. My daughter ordered the Caesar salad and it had a little too much dressing. The honey butter croissant was mouth heaven. My husband ordered a steak and tenders. He said the steak was ok. The tenders were pretty good. Overall it was not a bad place when you get better service. The food is actually good. Not a place to have a steak though. The bathrooms were clean.

This place has good food and good prices. We went there this week and the waitress was the best, she was very help on many fronts, drinks delivered early and topped off frequently, fresh rolls, brought out new silverware, and just a very nice attitude...made the whole eating out experience much nicer. We had soup n' sandwich...it's technically a 1/4 sandwich, but it's a triple decker so there's plenty there...the salad was very fresh and tasty and the blue cheese was good. Two people had chicken tenders and were very happy with them. So for the money, it's a good chain restaurant. Kudos to the management and staff.

This is close to my house so it's easy to come here. I really like the croissants (I am a bread girl), they are like the red lobster biscuits, the draw for coming back again and again. The food is good and at a reasonable cost and the portions are big enough to share. I have not found a favorite yet, but I did try the bread pudding this time - my husband liked it. :/

The only reason we would be back would be to try the drinks and maybe the large cookie. Other than that the food was horrible. Kinda reminded me of a place that old people would go to for lunch.....oh yeah lubys cafeteria. I had the gigis spasagne or whatever it is called. A loaf of overcooked noodles with cheese in the center to form as the spackle to make it rock hard with sauce on top. Yummy right well cafeteria quality maybe or beginner 101 couldn't screw that up the way this was done. My wife had the chicken pot pie with cinnamon apples for the side. The cinnamon apples were actually granny smith apples with chopped grapes and yogurt that had turned way south for the winter. My wife took 3 bites of the pot pie and couldn't go any further. It looked like it was full of water inside it with a couple of chunks of chicken. Well good luck if you wanna try it but we are at home sick and hovering close to the bathrooms

The food was kinda bland BUT the drinks were reasonably priced and very strong! Seating was fast and the place has good ambiance. But people bringing their kids kinda nerded that up. We were there at 6pm so maybe there are less kids later. Great service and boozy drinks!

Came here when they first opened it. The food was okay but did not live up to the hype everyone was talking about. I had never been here so I did not know it was not a family restaurant so I did not know booster seats or high chairs would not be available. We ate with my daughter sitting in my husband's lap which wasn't really an issue but we never returned for this reason because we felt that the restaurant wasn't kid friendly so we didn't want my daughter talking too loudly and possibly making the other diners feel uncomfortable. We did see other people walking in with their own boosters but we felt like if children were welcome they would atleast have children menus or something. I haven't been back since so I don't know if this is still the case or if anything has changed to make it more kid friendly.

  • Dan M.

Bad service from the hostess (waited 4 minutes just to talk to a hostess) to the waiter. At one point bartender came out from behind the bar and even told us that we looked like we were helped a little bit and took the rest of our order since our waiter had not been back after taking our drink order. Only the boys had received there drinks at this point. Table after got food before us....manager just came and talked to us and let us know there was a problem with our order and there would be adjustments to our bill....three tables that ordered after now have there food. Bartender saved the day. Manager ended up comping everything except alcohol. Food 4 stars Service was 1 star Total review 3 stars

  • B S.

Nice place aesthetically, convenient if you are driving on the 35. That's pretty much the only good thing. The food is below average. The appetizer was really salty.. The fish tacos were soggy... The grilled chicken Alfredo was flavorless. I would not be coming back

  • Angelique O.

Horrible! There was plastic wrap in our cheese dip and the waiter informed us that the cooks weren't paying attention. "You Think!" I'll never go back to this particular Cheddars.

  • Kellly R.

We ordered the spinach dip and it was delicious. I had the key lime chicken and shrimp. It was okay. My boyfriend had the ribs and chicken tenders. The rib meat fell off the bone and his tenders were really good. All of our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. However, the service.... ugh. She smiled so that's a plus. But, drink refills and general table maintenance were not happening. We had to ask for everything. The guy who delivered our food was the most attention we ever had. It's not like we're never coming here again, but next time we will have much lower expectations.

Pretty awesome comfort food, and they have a pizookie, so I'm sold! There's a bar, with tv's. We are watching the seahwaks. Theres a cool fishtanks and rad ceiling fans. But bring a sweatshirt, its freezing in the bar!!!!

I've been here for my boyfriends birthday, my birthday, and for the hell of it. Everytime I go here, for some reason the inner Donald Trump comes out of me. Yes I am that person. The one who orders everything on the menu, the one who seems to constantly have the servers attention. Yes, I'm guilty as sin. But here's why: this restaurant has thee best food, with thee best price, anywhere. I usually order two of the three croissant orders and than order three of the (three) croissant orders to go. Why? Because they are that good. I've only had one visit here where the croissants were questionable. They weren't warm and there wasn't much butter on them. Mind you this was at 11 in the morning so I'm going to let that situation go. The Texas Cheese Fries are a fatties dream. The New Orleans pasta is fantastic. The buffalo chicken wraps are excellent as well. The key lime pie desert is just the right size- since everything else I order is served with huge portions. I usually have a to go box for the appetizer and main course. Also, if you're a "drinker" than this is the place for you. Great drinks for great prizes. I always get the Pain killer and the long island ice tea top shelf. The Pain Killer is pretty strong but the ice tea top shelf is absolutely fantastic.

Normally we love Cheddars, but this visit was not so great. Our server and the manager were both awesome and helpful as a side note. The hostesses ignored us when we walked in. Then later, I swear, the one whose shirt didn't fit gave me the stink eye. I took the kids to the bathroom and while waiting in the archway outside, heard "dumbass" shouted in the kitchen. Then this server walked out and as he was walking towards me said "dumbass n*****" I was shocked. There was a kid there! The bartender lost our drink order, so my sister and I didn't get our margaritas till right before our food came. Finally, we had to send both of our monte christos back because they were burnt to a crisp and tasted like burnt grease. Boo. The manager came over and was extremely kind and helpful though, so we appreciated that. Normally we love you Cheddars, but this was not good!

I ordered a medium rare steak came out well done. My girlfriend ordered the buffalo chicken strips we told our waitress it was cold , she sat there and looked at us and said is there anything I can do, after hearing her say this three times , I said yes take it back and warm it up. After they did that and brought it back out, guess what still cold. They took it back and remade it. I will say the manger came by and was very nice. So all and all the third time was the charm.

Must have fired everyone and started over! Slow, no hostess, then no Waiter, then the Bar drink was not right, no pomegranate in it! Dinner salad came floating in Ranch when we asked for it on the side. Some tables got bread on a plate by itself, ours was stuck in the salad dressing! Baked potato came loaded when I wanted it plain with butter on the side! Steak was like shoe leather, ribs were burnt on top! Bad management, Bad training! Why is it that restaurants in San Antonio do not supply a spoon when one orders coffee! Wow! Won't be back soon

I have been a sever for a year now and I know how hard it can be. But Cheddars has made it alot more difficult than it needs to be. When we first got to Cheddars with our party (5) it looked like they forgot to hire a host because ours was missing for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately for us she arrived before we walked out. When we were finally seated our waiter greeted us. We placed our drink order and our appetizer and everything seemed to go great it wasn't until it was our second bar drink and our meal order that or waiter lost all sense of competence. witch would have been excusable If he wouldn't have been such a presumptuous ass. Afer taking a decade to bring our second margarita out after being instructed not to do so because it was taking so long he basically said oh well and left it there anyway. Later our food came our except one of our meals were completely and inconceivably wrong, My baked potato had been obliterated by a microwave and my macaroni toasted like it was cooked in fish water. When confronted about our meal complications our server vindictivly stated "the kitchens busy, I'm just a server." While walking away. Thats when we found it appropriate to involve someone of higher level, if you call this manager "higher level". She walked to the table with a good attitude, good enough that she felt such great conference to interrupt us several times while we explained our frustrations. After we finally got our story out, offered to "take care of the bill" but what she really ment was that she wasn't going to make us pay for all the mistakes that her employee made. And making it a point to tell us we were wrong in assuming she said bill because it sounds so similar to meal that 5 people heard her wrong. She had the audacity to chace us down the parking lot make us pay and the have a server call us back in to pick up the card because it would be to courteous to bring it back to us.

For starters 1 star is too much credit! I usually go to the location on 10 with much better experience (minus my last visit where I had glass in my drink!) anywho...when we sat down we sat down to a dirty table crumbs all over. Our party of 3 waited 45min for our food. when our table finally got our food it was cold and over cooked we ended up payin for our 2 drinks and leaving. No manager ever came to speak with us. Will not be going back again.

Great salads, fresh and reasonable prices! They even have a skinny margarita for $3.99 at 109 calories

  • Kristin T.

Well that was deeeelish!! First off their fries were amazing.... I could have seriously just had a huge plate of fries and been happy. This was my first time at Cheddars and I will definitely be going again. The Smokehouse burger was amazing!! *see pic* and the prices weren't bad too. The burger it's self was less than $5 and the fries were another $2 but you can actually add any side. My friend got a top shelf margarita and it was huge and she said had a lot of alcohol and it was only $6!! The cheese dip and salsa was so so but with great service and great over all meal and experience, my visit was truly worth 5 stars :)

Had dinner again at Cheddar's (because our first experience at this location was great). Our server that night was horrible. Took forever to write down our orders---and later saw that he took a good 10 mins to take the order from the table next to us too. He also took forever to greet a couple at a different table. First time serving I'm assuming? Anyways, we never saw him again for the rest of the night. Had to flag down someone after we didn't see him cuz he messed up on my order. The "manager?" in a tie ended up bringing us what we needed. Our cups were dry (no refills all night). What got us upset was the servers around us at the other tables were walking back and forth all night, serving their customers. Our server was only there to take the order and give us our tab. Someone else brought out our food. Worst service at a restaurant .....so far! He could've had a nice tip with a $60+ tab, but I guess he didn't care for it. Oh, my top sirloin steak was almost burnt and very dry---when it was suppose to be "medium well."

Meh, Not a fan, never have been a fan. This particular Cheddar's didn't do anything wrong. In fact, the best server I've ever had worked at this Cheddar's. I have been to 3 different cheddar's in my life and every one of them I didn't like. My girlfriend loves Cheddar's, so unfortunately I have to listen to her. Decided to try the "Spasagna". It was terrible. Cold in the middle, cheese not melted, and so so so much Ricotta cheese. I love cheese, but not Ricotta, and especially not the amount they put into it. Service: 5/5 (Best Server I've ever had) Food: 2/5 (Terrible, but filling!?) Atmosphere: 5/5 (Was sat immediately at the bar) Price: 5/5 (Spent $22.00 for 2 Teas, 1 Spasagna, and a Monte Cristo) Get the Monte Cristo, it's heavenly.

Food was certainly priced right and portions were generous. Wait staff was very nice and provided excellent service. Table next to us had a person with food allergies an the manager and head chef went out of their way to accommodate them. Monster cookie was a really great way to end the meal!

I've been coming very offen for lunch, super fast service at the bar, foodwise well it is what it is you can't expect too much out of a $5 hamburger, for dinner I'm still not a fun

Hey all, it's me again. This review is about Cheddar's. Man, oh, man, does this place hit the spot when you really can't decide what kind of food you want to indulge in for date night. Wifey and I went there since it's close to home, and we both got our culinary cravings done-in-one. She chose the Shepard's Pie (which I hear is getting phased out in the next menu rotation) and I got a typical burger with bacon. We each got a Texas Tea which lacked the proper alcohol that was expected, but we survived; no biggie. The Shepard's Pie was not a typical pie from Scotland, or what have you. It actually had flavor for the American taste buds. Overall, a good transitional piece to whet an American appetite. Now, lemme ya about da Smokehouse Burger. Though I couldn't get it medium rare, as per my choice,I did like the medium char on this burger enough to enjoy my time at Cheddar's. What i liked about this burger was that there were bacon bits in every bite. OMG, that was brilliant. The staff was friendly and honest. We had a waitress who didn't eat seafood and when I asked about the fish tacos (c'mon, I'm a San Diegan by heart) she told me she never tried it, but that she sells quite a few. Next time, I'll order the fish tacos.

I have had several friends who mentioned Chedders. So my wife and I tried it. And I don't know why we did not try it earlier. The catfish was fresh and tasty. My wife had chicken that she loved. I plan on regular visits in the future

I've been there five or six times now, so I thought it was time I wrote a review for them. As I've said in other reviews, I really want to like them, but there is just something keeping them from a four or five star review. Chicken fried steak, burgers, club sandwich and Monte Cristo sandwich were all excellent. The first of two downers I experienced was the fried chicken and waffles. The Belgian waffle was kinda dry and so were the chicken tenders it was served with. The second item that was a miss was the fish tacos. This was mainly because they were served on flour tortillas instead of corn. I'm normally not a fan of corn tortillas, but for some reason fish tacos requires corn instead of flour tortillas. The other item keeping them from four stars is their service. Sometimes the service is really good, but the majority of the time, it is very slow - for food as well as drink refills. It's not at the point where I wouldn't go back, but it is getting close. I've watched the wait staff and they are always busy, so I really find it hard to blame them - I think the bottom line is they need more wait staff. Prices are really good considering the food quality. The end. ;-)

Cheddar's is a pretty typical chain. I would say it is one step above Chili's as far as atmosphere goes and about equal in the food department. The low lighting and the fish tank make it a bit more romantic than the usual chain restaurant, but half the patrons were dressed in sweatpants when I went, so don't think it is anything fancy. There is a full bar; you can get a $4 skinny margarita that is a decent size, and a variety of other drinks for decent prices as well. The food was pretty good, typical American fare, nothing amazing or too special. The prices are good and the servers were attentive, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way to eat at.

Can't recommend this location... Been several times to cheddar's by the rim with good experiences... Total opposite for Selma location. 15-20 wait more like 30. Hostesses wandering with guests in tow trying to figure out where they were supposed to seat them. No server, then 2 show up, one right after the other. HAIRS IN FOOD!: After long wait for food, fried catfish arrived swimming in watery green bean juice (should have drained them better or better yet, served them in a bowl), then found a hair embedded in the top of tartar sauce, hostess started to take catfish back to switch out, and was going to leave hairy tartar sauce! Then found ANOTHER hair in my baked pototo! Not same type of hair either! YUCK! Asked for manager, took him 15 to arrive - may have been waitresses fault. He did comp our meal and offered replacement food, but we had lost our appetites! Manager also gave us his card for 2 free entrees next visit - but I don't think we'll be in a hurry to take him up on it. Almost 2 hours for lunch WE DIDN'T EAT! About 2PM on a Sunday, very busy, maybe they are better when it's slow. Seemed very chaotic and disorganized.

I have visited this located 4 times since its opening and have the same thought go though my head on the way out the door, "Why do I keep coming back here?!?!" Food looks great on the menu, some mix grill and some home style menu times. But then I have to think to myself in my head what did I try and what didn't I like. This place , not sure if its just the location or the entire chain, has an obsession with onions in there entrees. I order the chicken pot pie on one visit and it had great savory gravy and flaky crust, chicken, potatoes, other veggies, but what stuck out the most was ALL THE ONIONS. There was a 3 times ration of onions to anything else in the pie. Overwhelms the dish after a while. Another visit I had the 3 item select your own lunch. I had the Side Salad(good portion), Potato soup(too many ONIONS), and Half a club sandwich that resembles a Quarter of a sandwich until you realize if you pull the toothpick out that its two quarters stacked on each other. Turns out to be a regular sandwich (two pieces of bread with bacon and turkey and veggies). Good price tastes good but Onions ruined it for me again. Major Major issue with ever visit is the hot food always arrives warm. I have not had a good HOT meal there on any visit nor have my dinning partners. Our visits always seem to be on slower days and doesn't suggest server or food runner was "busy" with other tables. Not a fan of this location. Might need to try a different one for comparison.

Yummm!!! For some reason judging by the outside of the building It just didn't seem that interesting of a place for me to try... boy was I wrong! Their decor on the inside is much more impressive then the outside. Lots of stone work, and just a nice setting all around. The prices are very decent... but the best part of all is the food was very scrumptious! ...Well most of it anyways. But what was tasty was so incredibly tasty that it still gets a 5 star review in my book. The chicken and waffles are large and in charge! It was so incredibly amazing. I try to steer clear of most fried foods, but this had me asking my hubby for extra bites from his plate! The spinach dip starter was also very yummy with a little kick. The side house salad and the chicken pot pie were bleh... they weren't bad, but compared to the other flavorful offerings they really just tasted a bit bland. So I pushed those to the way of my hubby and continued munching off his plate!

This place is awful!! Horrible service!!! The food portion and presentation is awful!! I don't know why I even bothered to come back here to give it another chance. The "portion control" is enough for a 2yr old to eat, how is this even portioned out for an adult?, I'm very upset once again about this place and will NEVER COME BACK NOR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! I would give this place a NEGATIVE 5 STAR RATING BUT I CAN'T! So one star it is

Excellent menu, reasonable prices, not so great on service. Let me explain... Cheddars offers everything from nachos to pear salad. Even cornmeal batter fried catfish that is out of this world delicious! A southern favorite. Tasty sides and an array of desserts complete the diverse and flavorful menu! Three people ate for around $10 ea and that included an appetizer and we even carried out leftovers (generous portions a plus). Now for the bad part ... the hostess' @ the Forum location are young, lack maturity and patience which can come off a bit rude. I understand it isn't easy wrangling hungry people but it goes w/the profession so they might want to get over it and learn how to handle the pressure. Maybe they would be better suited in a slower restaurant as this place stays busy.

What happened here? We watched this new Cheddar's being built and knew it would be packed for the first 3 months it was open. Usually during that time, the staff will get their feet wet, learn the ropes, are able to handle the crowd efficiently, keep people happy. Look at Chuy's across the street. They opened, were packed, learned the ropes for the area, found a system, kept it, people are still eating there in droves. The Greeters here are young, not patient and unprofessional. Twice I had a young woman take my name and tell me a time. After that time expired, I would ask how far I was away from seating, and another woman (young) would tell me I wasn't on the list. I don't want to be "that" guy, but here more often than at other places - I am. I agree with a lot of the other reviews here. Waitstaff is nice, drinks are out fast, they take your order - then poof! They disappear. I also have never heard a waitstaff say "I'm sorry" more than this place. Not just our wait-person, all the others around us. That is a sign of a broken system. Usually someone else brings out the food - and now more than before - it's wrong. I asked for no tomatoes and they took it back, scraped the tomatoes off, and sent it back. I could've done that - I just don't like the juice. Some of their dishes are great. I used to get the New Orleans pasta, until I saw it was like 1300 calories!!!! Now the "choose your own lunch special" works for me. This place opened and the service was 2nd to none - what happened Cheddar's? Did they quit with the wave of new customers? This part of town is growing, people with families eat out an average of 4 times a week in the greater San Antonio area, most of the time close to their homes. The last thing they want is frustration. If it weren't for my wife LOVING your broccoli, we would look elsewhere more than we do now. Train up the staff. Service. Consistency.

The service lady was very nice but the food tasted like it was 3 days old. I ordered a garlic sirloin medium well done and it came chewy, dry, hard to bite. I've never tasted anything like it before. It was NOT tasty at all. The wedge salad came with brown, spots on the lettuce leaves like if they also kept it in the storage too long. I pay to receive fresh food. If I wanted leftovers from days before, I would have stayed home.

This was our first time here and we really liked it! It was recommended by a friend and glad we gave it a shot. I had the chicken tenders; the batter was light and had a lot of flavor. The waitress was super nice but the wait time to receive our drinks, food, and refills felt really long. Overall, the food was delicious and the prices were really affordable.

Service was really poor. Asked for a table for 3 and the 3 girls were confused. After a few mins of waiting we decided to sit in the bar and order. This was my first time here I was in from out of town.

Never again. We went for a drink and appetizers. It was 10pm but they are open until 11 and there were other people in the restaurant. It took at least 10 mins for anyone to even talk to us. We ordered a drink which took another 10 mins. Another couple came in about 20 mins after us and they got their apps AND entrees before we even got our appetizer. When the plate did finally come out the nachos and potato wedges were cold. I understand getting that kind of service when it's FULL and very busy but there were only 3 tables in the bar. Very unsatisfied.

My sister raves about this place, so today we came in for late lunch after a quick trip to the outlet mall. If you are an onion ring fan, you must have them here! They come with two dipping sauces: a spicy horseradish sauce and a fabulous homemade ranch. My sister said they could use some salt in the batter, but I disagree. I thought they were perfect! I ordered a salad for my entree. I chose the greens with pears and added chicken. It was good and an ample portion. I especially loved the toasted almonds. I tasted my daughters chicken fried steak. It was yummy, but the broccoli was so overcooked she wouldn't eat it...neither would I! We will definitely return for the nice atmosphere, good service and great prices!

Ive been to Chedders before but this location is the worst by far that is in San Antonio area .My wife and I when there 12/17/2011 the wait staff is ok the kitchen staff and managment are really BAD it took two hour to get our order then the sides where cold .my waiter told me the manager said he would come to our table that never happened he was to busy takeing care of three other tables waiting on their food .I been to the Chedders on 410 & Military the food and service is much better there.Do not go to the Selma location it is really bad

It ain't the Worst, but it ain't the Best either! You know those places that have all the elements to be phenomenal, but for some reason just cant seem to get there? Cheddar's is that place. The place is always packed, and the parking lot is a mad house, but somehow, they always seem to be able to seat you quickly. Most of the time. Sometimes, not so fast. Whats the secret hour? Cant figure it out. The menu is large and has some really interesting items that should please just about anybody, and the waiters get to you pretty fast with drinks - and then - poof - they disappear. Once they do take your order, it seems to take forever to come out of the kitchen, and the food comes out at odd times, or wrong, or cold, or some combination there of. Prices are okay for food of this type (unless its wrong, of course) but there seems to be this pervasive awkwardness that they just cant seem to get past. I'll try it a few more times, but for now, I'm having a hard time recommending it. There are worse places around San Antonio, but there definitely better places in this Genre as well.

Went to cheddars last night waited 5 mins for a table but waited about an hour for our food. Two out of three plates where wrong and the food was cold I had salmon not good at all the sides where gross. My husbands stake was not how he orderd it and cold. I was very upset I just wanted to have a good supper with family. The cook manager came to our table and said she would talk to her kitchen staff and said it was cuz they where very busy I don't think that is why I went on mothers day when it was crazy busy and did not wait that long for our food and it was hot. I think our waitress's for got about us.

Atrocious, unacceptable, awful, unbelievable, unacceptable... does that get the point across?? These few words don't begin to sum up my experience today at Cheddar's. I understand that the restaurant is newly opened, but in no way shape or form is waiting over an hour and thirty minutes for food acceptable. Not only did we have to wait for food, we had to wait for drinks & any type of service. Our server was so inept it seemed like a moment on candid camera. She couldn't speak above a whisper in an extremely loud & bustling environment & then stood at the far end of the table to try and take orders from people farthest away from her. Common sense would say, walk around the table so you are sure to hear & be heard. No, not her. We sat & watched more than 5 tables around us come in well after us & receive their orders WAY before us. Our waitress still hasn't come back to check on us after getting our initial drink order. We haven't even seen her around to flag her down for refills, where has she gone? Is there a black hole in the back that has sucked her in?? When the waitress does show up, we comment about the wait & all she does is make excuses... we just want to eat, we have hungry restless kids with us. Find our food. I have been in lesser dining establishments where the manager is always walking around checking on things. Not here... we had to get up & hunt one down. Even then we were treated as though we were in the wrong. For being newly opened, I would think these managers & staff would be bending over backwards to make sure their guests were the happiest people in the world. Our food comes out & it is COLD! I can stick my finger in the soup & it isn't warm enough to make me pull back for fear of getting burned... How long does soup have to sit on the line to get that cold?! They fill our hearts with promise of hot food at this point & again, one would think they would take the unwanted, cold, bleak food away... no. Instead it sits there on the table mocking us. Our waitress comes back around & we ask her to take it away & her response is "you want me to box it up for you?" Really?!!! No, get it off the table & bring me something hot & nourishing. Two hours into our adventure we eat & all we hear from the staff is excuses. Please own your mistakes, don't try to pacify me & certainly don't patronize me. The food, when it finally came out right, was tasty, but the horrific service has left such a bitter & discouraging taste in our mouth, we will never be back & we have nothing positive to say.

Steak had enough salt for ten steaks. Broccoli was steamed to mush. Potato was cold. Manager didn't care. Rare fail for Cheddars.

OK where to start on this place I start with the good part which is a very small paragraph. The wait staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was awesome very clean. Now to move on with the bad, we sat down trying to figure out what we wanted it took about 10 minutes because there was so much on the menu i didn't even know where to begin. We got an appetizer which was terrible idea because we got cheese fries now knowing they would bring out this massive plate with fries, bacon and shredded cheese flowing over it like it was our last meal. It easily had over a lb of bacon and cheese on it, we only had about 5 bites on it before we couldn't eat it anymore. My eyes came across the Monte Cristo which i use to get all the time at Bennigan's which was amazing it was crispy cheesy and had three different types of meat which was one of my favorites foods for the longest times until they shut them all down which broke my heart. Anyways back to Cheddar's i ordered it thinking it was the same thing but when i got it i was very surprised to see something that was nothing like i had got before being a very optimistic person i bit into it which immediately through me into a loop because it was soggy cold meat inside and cold cheese which is crazy because it was melted. I was so sad that it wasn't crunchy at all even though it was fried and being in the food service business now 10 years i was truly shocked that they messed this great sandwich up so bad. My wife got the Napa chicken ciabatta which don't get me wrong it was good sandwich but they put so much mayonnaise on it i couldn't even tell that there was chicken, soggy tomatoes, nasty avocados it was just down rite wrong and somebody needs to relearn how to make such a simple sandwich. I had such high hopes for the restaurant but was completely proven wrong i don't recommend this place to anybody at all if you want to feel greasy, sick and just down rite miserable then this is your place.

The food was ok...it's a chain restaurant. It wasn't exciting. Good atmosphere. The people workign there appeared to average 22 years of age and their attitude showed. It didn't feel very professional.

If there was one thing I had to complain about the Cheddar's in Selma, it would be the waiting; yet it gets busy a lot and every time I've passed the restaurant, there are always lots of cars there so I don't blame them. Unlike the other reviews, the times I've been here, I ordered the chicken fried steak, and it has tasted good every time. The sides that come with the steak also taste good and we also have gotten onion rings as an appetizer which were pretty tasty, and the prices are reasonable too. The service is alright, but overall I would come here again and again. However, I would recommend to arrive early for lunch because like I said it does get crowded.

Bottom line: This restaurant and its management are not very customer friendly, nor do they take pride in how their food is served. I feel sad that I recommended this location in the past. Here is why: Three months ago, my family and I had a horrible experience of waiting over 40 minutes to get our food, receiving it cold and nothing but an apology from the manager. My youngest child had to ask the manager to compensate us since he did not have the common sense to make the offer. I contacted the corporate office (good luck trying to find how to) and never received a response. My wife and I figured things may have gotten better and decided to have a date night there. We sat in the bar area (open seating). After 15 minutes of waiting for a server, I decide to order at the bar, but grabbed the attention of a nearby server. Mind you, other servers were walking past and no one took note of the fact that we had no drinks, or had not been served. They were all in their own world. Anyway, I asked the server who was waiting our table. I bet you can guess the response - she had no idea, that triggered a series of questions by that server to other servers, in order to determine who gets to wait our table. After that comical event, someone showed up and said they would take care of us. She met us back at the table and took our drink order. Well, here it comes again - 10 minutes later; we had no drinks. I could see the two drinks at the bar. Our server finally delivered our drinks which was watered down (my wife had a frozen margarita that had melted). And, she forgot our appetizer. We placed our order for the main course. I had the chicken with honey mustard and mushrooms and she ordered the glazed salmon with corn off the cob and fresh steamed green beans (per the menu). Of course, given the lateness of the appetizer, our food arrived shortly thereafter, and you guessed it, my wife's plate was horrible. It looked as though she ordered the glazed salmon over corn and green bean soup. That is how bad her meal appeared. It was as though the cooks did not use drainage spoons when serving the dishes. I asked our server if she saw anything wrong with her plate and she said no. I then asked her to look closely and whether or not she would eat the meal as prepared.of course she said no. By the way, both meals were supposed to be served over a bed-of-rice. We received what amounts to a tablespoon of rice. The vegetables appeared to be prepared from a can, not fresh as advertised. I asked for a manager who apologized and offered to bring another plate. She did so and it was much better. The manger discounted the appetizer and my wife's meal, however, we did not feel as though she was genuine in her apology and appeared reluctant, probably more hesitant to make a quick decision. I must say our Cheddars experience at the 410 W and Killeen, TX location have always been positive. I had one bad experience that was so impressively handled that we became repeat customers. I can't say the same is true for the I-35 location in Selma. I would much rather drive 20 minutes to Fish City Grill for awesome margaritas, great atmosphere and good food.

I love Cheddar's. I go to this place quite a lot in Dallas. The food is really good and the price is right. However this location seems to be a bit off. I will be honest and admit that I didn't eat at this place but went straight to the bar. The bar was nicely illuminated by this aquarium of fish. It was nice and gave the area a nice classy feel. My girlfriend and I ordered two of there Texas margaritas. One on the rocks and the other frozen. I pretty large cup of alcohol for only $3.50 is hard to pass up. Yet there was a fault. My frozen one was not all the way filled to the top and the one on the rocks tasted just like sweet & sour mix it was so weak. I was a bit disappointing and had to refrain myself from saying anything. I have noticed in my time there other waiters complaining to the manager about how the bartender made there drinks wrong. Maybe this isn't the best place for happy hour.

I'm generally a fan of Cheddars since we have them in my hometown. This one, however, I'm not a fan. The food was to par with other Cheddars; it was the wait staff that I could not handle. I came into this Cheddars with a co-worker for lunch. I should have seen the signs as I observed the waiter at the table next to us putting on a production (which seemed to be unwelcomed) for the table. Our waitress, while friendly, was overly friendly and annoying. I do not come into a restaurant to chat with the waitstaff; especially when I am at a business lunch. My co-worker and I were chatting over lunch and the waitress continued to interrupt us with useless chatter. I guess it could have been worse and she could have ignored us...which may have been more pleasant. The food took quite a while to arrive, which was surprising (although we were 'fortunate' to have our waitress to chat with us while we waited). My sandwich was hot and tasty. I will avoid this Cheddars just so that I don't have to entertain a conversation with the staff.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The food was average at best., especially for the prices. We shared our waitress with a retirement party and she was fairly attentive given the circumstances. The real problem was the manager. My 3-year-old spilled her lemonade. I told 2 waitstaff & the manager. You would think one of them would send someone to clean it up. Nope, we sat with our feet in a puddle all night. It was so bad it ran out into the aisle where people were walking. They brought everybody's food out except my 3-year-olds. They claimed it wasn't on the ticket but it came right out & it was cold. My shrimp hadn't been cleaned so it still had black stuff in it. My son ordered a steak medium well & it came out so done it was dry. He couldn't even chew it! When I called the manager over to complain all I got were excuses. They clean the shrimp by hand so they must have missed some. Medium well means no pink. All he offered me was 2 fresh shrimp which I declined and he brought me anyway. He even had the nerve to blame it on the waitress! The waitress kept apologizing & said she would take my son's meal off if she had the authority. I told her to tell the manager that we weren't paying for it & he finally took it off the bill. He never even apologized even after I told him this was our first time there. He acted like we should be more understanding because they had a big party. I definitely will NOT be going back.
