I love Steak n Shake! The food is always delicious. The wait can be a little long but I'd say it's worth it. I wish there was still one in Jonesboro but I don't mind having to wait to be in Memphis to eat there!

Teeeeeerrrrrible drive thru!!!!! 2 cars ahead of us that ordered still waited 30 minutes and still waiting.....Happens every time at this location!! I hate that there are a bunch of teenagers that work here! They have no pride in their work ethic to me definitely no customer service and no urgency to their job.... Come on reeeeally your cooking BURGERS! Not brain surgery. I could have drove to Jackson TN by now considering the wait time n still waiting... I'm Sooo mad but hungry :(

If this place is representing the fabulous 50's, then Elvis has definitely left the building in a mad dash based on today's service and food quality.

I found myself in the burbs late at night and hungry with few choices. I had never eaten at Steak 'n Shake but since is was open I thought I would give it a try. It was around 11pm on a Saturday night and the drive through line was pretty long. Thankfully, the line moved fast. I decided to get a bacon and cheese double steak burger. When I unwrapped my burger I thought perhaps they had gotten my order wrong. I didn't see any cheese. Upon further investigation I found it... a sad amount of cheese sandwiched between the two patties. The bacon was sad also. Two limp strips thrown haphazardly under the bun. To make matters worse, they left off the mayo and mustard I requested. Good thing I had a supply of both on hand. I was not impressed.

Service is really slow. They take 20 min to come to the table and greet us. If you're not ready to order when they get there.. You're shit out of lunch cause they're gonna take another 15 minutes to come back... The servers disappear and you've gotta chase them down... The floor was filthy... I went two nights in a row.. Thinking my 2nd experience would be better than the 1st.. I was wrong it was worse. Oh and the hostess wiped a table down for us and the seat was still wet when I sat down.. I was disgusted

I have no clue what was up with this place the other night. We visited yesterday night and I honestly have not had this bad experience some place in a long time. We virtually went unnoticed while waiting to be seated. After me and my family were finally seated, the food took FOREVER to get out to us. It was a packed house inside but food should not take that long at all. Probably 45 minutes if not an hour. It took so long it had reached a boiling point with my kid and I had to take him outside and let him run around because he couldn't stay inside and sit at the table for this long. My kids had been pretty much chanting steak and shake all day and this is the only reason we even stayed. While washing up I noticed the bathrooms were absolutely horrid like they had been unattended for a week NO JOKE! Paper towel and TP all in the floor, very foul and grimy floor! When I was outside with my kid I noticed how wretched the parking lot and perimeter were. Filthy and garbage everywhere. The actual parking lot was not as bad but the perimeter was a sight to see. Garbage everywhere. And to top all of this off. We realized you get smaller portions but pay the same price for to-go as you do dining in. We had went inside at first but my kid could not contain himself. He was very tired and it wouldn't have been fair to everyone else dining to purposely sit with a screaming kid. Others were having a long time getting their food also and even commented on it to us. This place may have had a packed house but when it boils down to it, it's burgers and fries which can be made in bulk. Never again.

Love the milkshake, but long line. Waited in the drive-thru for an hour! Does it take that long to make food in here? Lack of management. But the food is good though! The milkshake definitely is one of the best milkshake I ever had, but still, long waiting time. It's making me frustrated. Hope next time they can actually hire some manager, or more people to handle the long wait time.

I absolutely love steak and shake, but this location is a terrible. The employees aren't that great. The were slow and kinda lazy. It took 45 minutes to get seated and get our food. It was just a hit and miss at this location because the food was very good, but waitresses were slow.

I was passing through town with my sister and we stopped at Steak 'n Shake for breakfast. I had never been to this restaurant before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered a homestyle breakfast, which was eggs, bacon, bagel and hash browns. I also ordered a breakfast taco. Food was great. Service was prompt. Restaurant was clean and they were playing cute oldie tunes. I'd definitely come back to a Steak 'n Shake restaurant based on this experience.

Of the three Steak n Shake's in the Memphis area, this is the only that is acceptible. The other two are just horrible - Southaven because of bad service and Southwind because of cleanliness (or lack thereof). But this location is pretty much OK. I've been to other Steak n Shake's on the road that are actually great. Unfortunately, we get the shaft in the Memphis area. Perhaps they are all owned/managed by the same group that just doesn't care that much. Tis a shame cause they could be so much better.

If I could give 0 stars I would, not only do they have horrible customer service but they are so slow. I'm writing this as I've been in the drive thru for 20 minutes with only four cars!!! The ladies at the window are rude & lack any type of customer service. If I were you I would pick another Steak 'n Shake & go there. Stay away!!

I'm so disappointed in the service every time I visit a Steak and Shake. Wolfchase one is particularly is horrible. If you offer a drive thru service then you should offer a drive thru experience. I've been waiting on my food for 15 minutes and then was ask to pull forward and it was going to take a while longer. It's 8:30 on a Saturday.... Why are you not prepared for ur breakfast customers?!?! I love S&S breakfast taco but from now on I'll take my business to Taco Bell!!!! Very disappointed and now waited 25 minutes.

We were here in March. It was our first time and oh boy was the food good! I look for these little joints now as I travel. The food was so very good and the service was too. The burger was juicy and flavorful, served piping hot and with good spice added. They always offer to refill your beverage when you leave. I am a fan!

I eat at this location a lot. But last night will be my last time coming here. Our "waiter" was a complete moron. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for our food. While we were waiting we were watching everyone else eat there food and leave even though we came in first. We talked to the manager and he could of cared less. I hate eating at a restaurant were you the customer are completely unappreciated. When we finally got our food the order was wrong and the server thought we were going to wait while he takes the food back and remakes it? No it took too long in the first place why would we wait any longer? Then when we went to pay we asked for a to go box, the lady took our payment and then started taking a mans order at the counter. My husband left but I was determined to get a to go box so I told the lady that we asked for a box so she ignored me until the other customer told her to get me the box. I really don't understand where their customer service is? This restaurant is so busy all the time how can you treat customers like this?

Good food for a good price. And it gets even better on weekends when kids eat free with adult orders. I feed 6 people (2 adults 4 kids) for under $20. Can't beat that.

DO NOT GO!!! 45 MINUTE DRIVE-THRU! RUDE, SLOW, LAZY EMPLOYEES!!! I know, I know, I thought the same thing. These bad reviews can't be all that bad, it's a Steak'n Shake after all. Well, that will teach me to ignore the low rating! We entered the drive-thru line at 6:15 with 8 cars ahead of us. I would have left drive-thru lane after 20 minutes of waiting but the curb blocks you in. Once at the window had to wait an additional 15 minutes for food. During this time saw three different employees on phones talking, texting, singing, dancing and playing games. When food was delivered (three combos) we were told we had to continue to wait for our third order of FRIES! (We finally just left without them.) We asked the cashier if this was normal and she asked what we were talking about. Apparently this horrible service is par for the course. Upon opening the bag the food inside was COLD and it one of the combos had the wrong sandwich. At 7:05 we finally just left. Thanks to my wife's text messages for the timestamps, I really couldn't believe it had taken that long! We really do enjoy Steak-n Shake and understand they take a bit longer than other restaurants but this particular location is the absolute worst run and terribly staffed place I have been to. *** AVOID ***

Worst Steak 'n Shake! I've been there so many times just because it's the only one nearest me. One time I spent almost an hour just at the drive through and they didn't even give me the right order. Dine in is a nightmare because the servers are rude and frequently forget about you.

    (1)
  • Angela C.

Confused Manager at the door seating people and I over heard him making rude comments to his female employees. The 'Steak Burger' meat is way to over cooked, The girls that work there are all nice girls and pretty, I did notice all of them had their hair back except one girl with long dark brown hair, maybe she didn't like to follow the rules...I'll go back but they need more organization up front, it felt like a cluster fuck of confusion.

This review is based off my dine in experience. I should have just stuck with the drive thru! My daughters love this place, mainly because of the shakes. So we frequent here at least once a month but I always use the drive thru. However, on my last visit they wanted to dine in. Big mistake! Right off, I noticed the dirty floors. I'm not sure exactly when the last time those floors have been cleaned. I literally could not order any food because I could not stand the thought of looking down while I was eating. And I REALLY wanted some chili...I really love their chili!!! To add insult to injury our server was the most unpleasant person in the history of the world. Even my daughter, who is a food server and never complains about service when we are out, mentioned how horrible the service was there! True story, our server just looked at us (didn't speak), raised eyebrows, to signal that she was ready to take our order. Seriously? It gets two stars because I really do love their chili. My girls dig the shakes and fries. And they are open 24 hours!

  • David B.

Night time drive through service is the absolute worst. You get a lot of attitude and they seem to mess up the orders a lot. Not to take away from the ones who work inside during the day. They're not too bad. Unfortunately these few individuals have brought the value of the restaurant down.

    (1)
  • Amber C.

I love Steak'n Shake. This one is pretty standard, although some of the employees could be nicer, most of them are great. The food is good, the shakes are amazing, and it's cheap. The parking lot is a little wonky, but if 64 isn't too busy, it's no problem to get in and out.

  • Chuck B.

This place is as good as any other place that has table service with $3.99 triple cheeseburger meals....oh wait a min...there are NOT any other places that offer such an option. If you want awesome food, with wait staff in the dining area, a tolerable dining room and convenient, accessible location, guess what? Ya gonna hafta pay more than 3.99. Sheesh! It's a cheap hamburger place and this location has been pretty competent at being a cheap hamburger place. No problems with the staff either. So if you are hungry, in a hurry, and broke, go have yourself an average meal for a really good price and be happy. P.S. Steak and Shake is not a steak house.

Horrible Service and Lazy attitude employees!!! I went in at 1am Sat 12/21 and the sign said, "Please wait to be seated" After a young man came over and sat me, I waited for EVER and still no one came over to take my order. What made matters worse, there we 7-8 employees and only 20-25 guests in the restaurant. As time passed, I began to look around and observe what was going on, there were 4-5 employees that were on the floor. There were 3 employees literately sitting in chairs leaning with their backs against the wall looking back at at the restaurant while talking and laughing. The entire time I was sitting there with my festive Santa Hat on, (hint fun person that may want to Tip Extra because it's Christmas time,,,,duh) After getting irritated enough, I finally got up and waled to the back and said, could I get someone to wait ion me? One employee says sorry, we didn't see you sitting there. I said one of your employees just sat me there....really? I was then clearly upset and went to find the person that sat me. He was behind the counter up front and said, quote "I told them that I just sat someone at table number (blank)" He then continues to say Quote "They must not have LISTENED to me" I then asked for a manager and another person, Steve (that was cooking) said there was no manager but that HE would wait on me. He leaves his cooking job and follows me back to my table and then took my order. This entire ordeal took almost 8 minutes to get someone to wait on me. I just don't understand that how those employees can just literally SIT around and not care about their customers and their TIPS! What's makes matters even more stressful, is after I had to say something, I kept getting some dirty looks while I was thinking, I hope they do they don't do something to my food now. This restaurant is in my neighborhood and I want to be able to WANT to go there and enjoy a good experience. However, with this kind of inexcusable & inconsistent service along with the poor quality of not caring people working there, it may not be long and they will be forced to close their doors. Maybe that will be a good thing for us good customers! Bottom line, I really regret that I went there last night!!! Needless to say, I will NOT be going in there anytime soon! Customer BEWARE! P.S. The ONLY reason I gave them one star is because they were open...

I and the kids love this place. If you'll get the coupons a family of 4 can eat for around $25. The burgers are good and the shakes are great. Service has always been great.

    (4)
  • Aaron S.

Pretty good food in the tradition of a diner. The acoustics make the place quite loud though. Right now, kids' meals are free with the purchase of an adult meal on the weekends. It is more like 3.5 stars, but I didin't have that option.

How this place got rated at two $$ I will never know. Somebody's been eating out of vending machines or something. Steak & Shake is an affordable classic. Double-steakburger--add jalapenos--for $4.02. Yours truly prefers burgers with thin patties. If I want it thicker, stack 'em...right? Their fries are skinny and crisp. Also a personal pref. S'nS is a favorite and a treat. I could get really fat here if I wasn't careful.

There are a few times in life when you want (need) a milkshake ,French fries ,hamburger or chicken tenders ! Well if that sounds like something you like Steak 'n Shake is the spot for you !! So go to this crazy kool diner and order anything on the menu cause it's always good However sometimes the service is not that great !! But if you go on a good day you are sure to be impressed

I've seen the new ads for a $3.99 combo, so on the way home I couldn't resist, time to try one. Been years since I've been in a Steak & Shake. Well, it will be years before I go back. The drive thru line was long so I went inside, sat at the bar, ordered quickly. Unfortunately, there were a couple of gents, acting like monkeys, at the bar. Damn this, damn that, F this, F that, cutting up with the cooks. I thought, where in the hell is the manager. Oops, my bad, evidently they either knew the manager or were kin to her? I think she was the manager, as the idiots went behind the counter to talk to her a couple of times, & share a few profanities. As I left, a foursome... around 70 yrs old, came in. I thought, good luck finding a seat where you don't hear the monkeys. If I had stayed there longer, I think I'd have cooked some monkey stew.

Food is good. But why do I have to wait 20+ minutes in drive thru. Been here for 10 minutes. Haven't moved and people are just driving off. Don't think the personal have to much customer service care in mind when they work the drive thru. Sad because the food is good here.

Not only was my patty melt perfection, my turtle caramel shake sumptuous, but also our server, Talor, made sure we were waited on. Everything was perfect, including the thunderstorm and downpour. We just don't get those in California. Thank you, Talor.

Pretty good. For a fast food establishment, I like some of their sandwiches.

This review is based on the work ethic of the Servers and the Manager. We come to this restaurant every now and then and the food is always up to Steak and Shake standards. However, the employees do not work as a team. Meaning when the restaurant is busy and the Servers should be pitching in by helping to clean their tables, they don't. Leaving the hosts to do all the work. My husband and I are both from the restaurant industry and know it inside and out. For a restaurant to run properly, there needs to be teamwork. Servers should be picking up plates as they go, but instead they leave their tables dirty while a line forms, out the door. It is ridiculous.

My experiences at this Steak and Shake have been far more promising than the other location on Hacks Cross. The service here is more friendly and the food is prepared in more expedient fashion. And of course, the food tastes like any other Steak and Shake (which in my opinion is awesome). For you newbies to Steak and Shake, the burgers are good, the fries bland unless you request a seasoning (it's 29 cents, just do it), and the shakes are amazing. I'd recommend their garlic double; it's never let me down!

Ehh. I've been coming to this Steak 'n Shake for years (YEARS!!) so I feel I can give a good enough review, not just taking one crap experience into account or anything. At any place like this, the service can be spotty. When you're going somewhere at 2 am, the service can definitely be spotty. But I'm sorry, the past few times I've gone, it's gotten more and more to "the service was the worst" rather than "well, it was okay I guess" and I just can't forgive that. I could just go through the drive-through if I wanted the food without the service. If I'm seated at a table though, I expect decent service. Not a waiter focusing more one of their other three tables. My suggestion? Just go through the drive-through (save on the tip), take it home.

Best place to go when you are on a budget but want delicious gourmet burgers and fries. They are open 24/7 which is amazing. You never know when you're gonna crave a juicy burger. The milkshakes are so creamy and delicious. Big enough for two people to share. This is one of my favorite burger joints.

Good breakfast. Came in after a full morning to get some good breakfast. Coffee stayed filled and the food was appetizing. The food was cooked correctly and tasted great. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Great experience at this location! Will come back in the future.

We had fast and courteous service. A great place for an inexpensive lunch with the whole family. We will definitely be back soon.

Good food for a good price. And it gets even better on weekends when kids eat free with adult orders. I feed 6 people (2 adults 4 kids) for under $20. Can't beat that.

Pretty good food in the tradition of a diner. The acoustics make the place quite loud though. Right now, kids' meals are free with the purchase of an adult meal on the weekends. It is more like 3.5 stars, but I didin't have that option.
