I can't say enough about the amazing service by the entire team at Pyros! Lacy was the leader on duty the day we visited and we were so well taken care of. I am very impressed by the time and energy you put into your customer service training and skills. It goes without saying that the food is excellent as well!

Pizza is great. We had the Southwest (a bit spicy) and Pesto. Both were really good. Only problem is that you have to stand in line for a really long time to place your order. They had a lot of people working at the time, which i think only added to the apparent confusion...it seemed to much to comprehend that my friend and I were going to be on the same bill. Overall though, the space is nice and the food was good.

Don't be scared of the line, it actually moves pretty quickly, and the pizza's worth the wait. I love the crispy crust, and you can enjoy a beer with your meal. One of the people I ate with got a salad, and said the lettuce was fresh and crispy. For around $8 a pizza it's a great value.

Food is good service is great. I wish they had more options as far as toping. The specialty pizzas are good. If great for the family.

Excellent value for the price! Perfect for people who like few toppings on their pizzas S well S those who like lots. Custom salads also available, as is a "Hydration Station" with mostly regional craft beers. Don't worry, they have Bud Light on draft and a couple other mass produced products for those of you lacking the palate for the real thing!

By far one of my favorite new places to eat..! Staff is friendly and greet you as soon as you step in.. Of course the pizza is fresh and is cooked by time u get your drink and sit down.. The only thing I didn't like from my visits was that some times when adding toppings by accident they add little prices of toppings you didn't ask for.. All in all still a great place for a quick lunch.. Chill date or just to hang with the fellas...

I can't decide on if I like Memphis Pizza Cafe more or Pyros. I love this new addition to the midtown area but am still partial to the fact that you can sit at a BAR, order a pizza, and lounge about. Now maybe it's because I am partial to bar settings that I make the aforementioned comment, so that's the reason for removing a star. I totally love the food here though. I feel like I have eaten the southwestern salad and created my own pizza each time I have been. My partner got the steak and potato pizza last time we went which was pretty damn interesting. Definitely an AWESOME patio!! Very cool spot and a must check out if you are in the mood for some thin crust deliciousness.

They have beaded ice!!! Yes!! Touchscreen drink machines with so many flavor combos. The food is awesome, slightly higher in price but my food was great. I had Mediterranean salad and a pizza. Nice atmosphere too. They have vegan pizza which is rare in this town. Did u kow this bldg used to be a cricket store? So glad it is pizza joint now. I will be back.

This place is FANTASTIC. Service: Excellent; Pizza: Delicious; Coffee: Perfect. We will definitely add this to our list of favorite places to eat in midtown.

This place is a great idea but it certainly needs to be more efficient. Coming down the line is not up to par. Sometimes the staff on the line is great, however more times than not they seem to be joking around and playing games. Much more preoccupied by their co workers rather than the customers in front of them. Once we finished topping our pizzas and inched closer to the register we started getting pelted with questions. "What's our name, how many in the party, would we like drinks, don't you want some sweet bites, and would you like any finishers on your pizza, we also have beer and coffee would you like to try any?" I don't have an issue with the questions they are asking, but there are so many things going on at the register that it turns the excitment of it all into a pretty chaotic experience. Once we found a table that wasn't taken or dirty you get to fully appreciate the design of the place. It looks good, the patio is a welcoming place when the weather is nice. The windows break into panels and slide open to create a very spacious feeling. I walked in and immediately broke out of the protective shell the chaotic line put me in. The inside dining area was nice but it seemed like they designed the walls and such and then found tables that (sort of) fit into the cubbies, instead of designing the table layout and then the walls and such. The tile floor seemed a little contradicting to me. You had the soft grey of the slinder faux wood planks at the bar and immediately next to it you have large organized tiles with a rusty red or a darker brown. At least the grout wasn't a bright color. The lights above the booths produced ample light however at the expense of the entire table feeling the heat coming from it. Our sweet bites that we ordered never went in to the oven. I had to go and request for them to be made even though I asked for them to come out with the pizzas. Overall the experience wasn't a bad one. Just mediocre. The pizza was nice and crunchy (even though I prefer a thicker crust). I only had a regular Hawaiian pizza but the sauce was good and the ingredients were fresh, the cheese was all over the place, sliding right off my pizza. Maybe a way to solve that is to have the cheese come past the sauce onto the crust so the cheese can melt onto it and hold. Like I said, it wasnt a terrible experience but it didn't wow me either.

Tonight was our third visit to Pyro's and I can see it becoming a casual favorite. Good value and fresh ingredients to build your own salad or pizza in the style of the burrito industry. The poppyseed chicken salad is one of the best "side salads" you'll find anywhere. Good lettuce (not iceberg), fantastic dressing and solid generous ingredients including almonds, broccoli, chicken, and fresh peppers. I always get the snack pizza to accompany the salad (it is pretty filling for a side salad). Keep in mind all pizzas are thin crust (they end up being much larger than they appear at the "build" stage once they come out of the oven), so make sure you load them up with toppings. The spicy marinara is a must as a base for fans of heat. It is hard to imagine that even the pickiest eater wouldn't find half a dozen ingredients to throw on their pizza. Good selection of local beers at a separate counter. Friendly, inviting atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Great, clean space for a quick fresh bite to eat.

Awesome pizza. So many toppings it will make you dizzy, but when you get the pizza it will all be ok. I'm so glad they are in midtown, no more chains!

We have been here about 4 times, but this last time, tonight, Roger made our pizzas and he had the quantity of ingredients just right. I am glad to see that there is finally a very good affordable eating establishment in my neighborhood. Employees are friendly, pizza is delicious, everything you need is at hand such as to go boxes, napkins, straws, seasonings, etc. crushed ice for sodas is a dessert in itself, atmosphere is soothing, and the music playing in background is just at the right noise level. Oh, and to another reviewer that was concerned about seeing no trash cans, They are not everywhere, because, the fabulous employees pick up your trash for you, and you are not even required to tip. What more could you want?

My family loves the fresh toppings and how you can get as many toppings as you want for the same price. It's one of the few eating establishments I can take the whole family and make everyone happy. What I don't love is their inability to keep the sweet tea supply in the dispensers. And lately if there is tea in there, it tastes old. I asked them if they could make more tea, and I figured it wouldn't be a problem 1.5 hours before closing time, but no one ever made any more. I'm also not a fan of the free style machines. The Coke especially has a weird off-flavor coming from the freestyle machines. Next time I think I'll just order a beer.

Pyros pizza is fantastic! Build your own pizza from a dozen of ingredients or order one of their originals. If you see a long line, don't fret! I went during lunch hour and it was super busy, but the wait wasn't long at all! The employees are so friendly and give great suggestions on pizza.

After being recommended this place by a fellow yelper, I was so intrigued by their concept. Picture Chipotle or Moes but with customizable pizzas and salads, and you have Pyro's! The options and combinations are endless (whether it's choosing the toppings, blending the sauces, half/halfing the sauces and pizza, or just altering their individual choices). With the endless choices, the price is really reasonable. If I ever have a pizza crave and need a quick fix, I hope there's a Pyro's nearby!

  • Christina C.

Best place for quick and customizable pizza and salads! I love getting to put all my favorite ingredients together and even better - it's unlimited! The price is extremely reasonable, especially since the snack pizzas or salads are one full meal for me. I also usually don't buy salads when I eat out, but since you can put literally anything on it at Pyro's, I love getting salads here. The salads also come with bread and it's so yummy. I wish they warmed it up a bit, but I'll take it any way. Friendly service. Lines can get pretty long at this location on Union especially during rush hour times, so heads up. Parking is also pretty limited in the back lot. BUT this is THE place to go for a quick pizza craving fix. I'd pick over Chipotle :D

Not only I am a fan of this place. My family loves this place. This is a great place for anyone looking to have the pizza they want. The pizza's always come out tasting so good. For dessert don't forget the Sweet Bites!!!! They are so good.

Fantastic. They are back to cooking it crispy again. Also, I tried their sun-dried tomatoes, and they are tasty! Great service is ALWAYS appreciated! Let's hope they expand in the future!

Ok, the pizza is great. It really is. But I've been to three different locations, and I'm finding the same problems. I order pickup each time, and the pizza is always cold. The box is never hot when they hand it to me. The service, at least when you get a to-go order, is terribly disorganized. I always see employees standing around when they could have been ringing up my order. I've literally watched my pizzas get cold because employees aren't sharing responsibilities. And then they get offended when I ask if I could please pay for my pizza and leave.

    (3)
  • Chris M.

Going against the grain a bit on this one but I'm not that impressed with this place. Pizza is ok I guess. Don't really like the stand in a line, get your own drink, search for a table thing. Just not my place but I guess it's ok for a quick lunch.

Updating this because they did respond to the comments. Would have been great since they do this in the open to not see the dough go on the trash and get used for something else, and maybe harsh because you don't see the waste in other restaurants. And it is great pizza. And good as vegan. I would go back. Service and consistency way better at the union location than the ridgeway. This is going down to a one because they make their dough too big and trim it on the tray. Then throw it away. No making the ball things. Or how about making your dough balls the right size so food isn't wasted....

Haven't bit into a bad slice yet! I suggest building your own, but the preset option are still delicious!

I'm in the fence about the three stars. I hate to lead off like this but... I have been to Pyro's three times now. The first was at the Ridgeway location and I never got to eat because of the ridiculously long lines. Boo for that The second time was here and I was treated very well. The guy at the front make station took the time to explain the whole process to me and did a great job of making me feel comfortable with the new venture. I found the crust to be very good but the sauce and toppings seemed a little off. There were big giant balls of Italian Sausage that seemed out of place and kind of cheap. The marinara was too sweet and again seemed really commercial but not even really good commercial. I did like the crunchy crust though so I thought hey they will work out the topping eventually. I had water only to notice afterwords they had charged me $.60 for tap water.... Really? Who does that? Hmmm... The third visit I was greated by some short kid with shaggy hair and his hat pulled down way too low to see his eyes. He seemed pensive and withdrawn. This is not who you put as lead guy on an open line kitchen. Next up was the final topping guy and the cashier. She started to process my payment and started the timer on my check in deal and told topping dude she was going to the back to do prep work. He then stated that he has been busting his ass on the line all day and he was going to take a break first. This upset the cashier and a small argument ensued. Great experience not happening so far. Pizza comes in about 8 minutes and the food runner weaves through the 6-8 dirty tables around me that have been that way since I sat down. I am excited that they changed that awful sausage to something more acceptable as Italian Sausage. It looks pretty good until I try to pick up a slice. Weak, droopy, crust. Not quite done and very little crunch if any. The fresh mozzarella fell of of the pizza as you tried to pick it up. I've never seen that before. Not a very good pizza at all really. The sauce is funky, way too sweet. All in all this was a two star visit. I give it three for previous visit and the fact that I think that have a REALLY cool concept. It could be great if the people in operations could execute better. I did not see anyone who looked in charge the entire time I was there. I'll be back though. Really love the concept!

  • Daniel M.

Honestly, you have no one to blame if you don't like the food here, you make it, Pyro's bakes it. I love the idea. A pizza with the toppings I select and as much of them as I want. Want extra feta, loads of bacon and two inches of mozzarella? No extra cost. Went during the lunch hour and was pleasantly surprised at the speed of the line and the speed of delivery of my pizza to the table. I also thought that given the size of pizza and a drink it was a great value for the money. Any other pizza place that charges per number of toppings cannot match up to the level of customization you get here. I didn't get a chance to try their wine or beer selection but it adds a nice touch to the atmosphere and further separates Pyro's from other "fast food" pizza establishments.

I am definitely a fan of this spot. I went with a lunch group. Although the line can be pretty long at lunch time, it moves with some deliberate speed. I ordered a southwest chicken salad, which was great! You should however be careful to watch wehn they make your salad. One of the line prep people got carried away and just started throwing everything on my salad incuding things that were not on the menu for the southwest salad.

The Subway model brought to pizza- it works for me. OK, here's the gimmick, instead of the typical "phone in your pizza order", your pie is built before your eyes. . .in a playful fun way. Sorry to take all the mystery out of this process. This place is actually good and a good time. Relevant local brews on tap add to my positive opinion as c'mon nothing goes better with pizza than a great local beer. Service is helpful and responsive in this trendy Qdoba-styled pizza place. The decor is clean and stylish, service very helpful, and they build a good pizza (if you don't like it you only have yourself to blame). In time I can envision a move away from fast food pizza into a sit down restaurant, but for now the line remained long and diners appeared happy with this model. Best pizza on Earth? Nope, but certainly far from the worst. Give it a try! (with a lovely MemphisMade or Wiseacre in tow). Approved.

Try to make your own pizza! I have made a few and so far this experience has been awesome every single time! Not only is the pizza $8.30 it's unlimited toppings! I have learned to just order a specialty pizza and then add more toppings from there. So far my favorites are the Steak and Potato and the Southwestern. This place is a quick meal too. The pizzas are done quickly even during lunchtime. Its family friendly and even cheap date night worthy. The wine and beer are marked so low, I really have no clue how they can give such a good deal!! We all know pizza and beer/wine are great together, but just in case you can't enjoy a libation they have coffees and one of those awesome touchscreen soda machines too! Geez!! I'm getting a Pyro's craving now just from writing this review! It's another great addition to Midtown and I believe some of the best pizza I've ever tried in the area.

This pizza place is so unique and tasty. They take the build your own pizza concept to the next level and offer patrons so many customizable options. Great place for lunch or dinner. They even have coffee & beer!

Tried the Midtown location for lunch. Arrived around 11:30 a.m. and didn't take much time to have our food :) Great social media offers visible right before you place your order. Got a free drink! Both of us opted for salads. All ingredients were fresh and served generously. Definitely a great deal. TIPS: allow about 10 minutes for a flatbread to bake. If you plan to go there for lunch on a weekday, it might be really busy around noon. We left at 12:20ish and the line was about 10 people long, so keep that in mind :) ENJOY!!!

The concept is pretty cool but unfortunately my pesto pizza just wasn't that tasty...neither were my sweet bites. But that soda machine? Holy moly is that thing cool! The location is great and the patio is awesome - perfect for those sunny days! I can definitely see why people like this place. Someone said it before, but it really is like Subway/Lenny's in how you order your food. I like that transparency and that you get to customize. My lunch date couldn't get enough of her salad...so like most times, I guess I just ordered the wrong thing. I'll definitely be back but with a different order...and adding wine to my meal. Oh, I also wish they'd clean the tables a little bit faster. There were 4 dirty booth and 2 dirty tables at one point...I wanted a booth!

This started out as a 2-star experience and worked its way up to a 3 as the meal went on. There are some really good elements, it's just like it's not really popping yet. Or maybe we went at an off time -- it was like 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon and nearly empty -- maybe they get their act really together for the lunch and dinner crowds. The bullet points: - Great prices ($8.95) for an 11-inch pizza you could share with one other if you weren't that hungry, or eat yourself as a meal. - As others have mentioned, Subway-style toppings laid out. They all looked vaguely limp and not that appetizing -- and the prep area was VERY messy, with certain toppings strewn over the counter and into other toppings. - The lady saucing my husband's pizza picked up a mostly-empty bottle of sauce and said, "I really want to finish up this bottle" and then SPLUUUUUT-ed it out in random patches over his crust. As a result, my husband felt that his pizza was unevenly and under-sauced. Lesson for next time: he should have been more assertive about his saucy desires. - We paid and showed our IDs for ($4) beers at the register, then walked over to the bar where we had to show our IDs again and got our Copperhead Reds. It seemed a little silly to have to show our IDs twice, but whatevs. - The table we selected looked clean from far away, but wasn't when we went to sit there. The immediately-surrounding tables were visibly dirty, so we wiped the last guest's crumbs/toppings from our table and sat there to wait for our pizzas ... - WHICH WERE DELICIOUS. We loved the thin-crispy crust, and those dubious-looking toppings really did something good once heat was applied. The spicy marinara was plenty spicy, and overall we felt it was a great value for what we got. We will definitely go back, and we'll be looking for: a little more care with the toppings area and application, a little less hounding about our IDs (we're VERY clearly of age and showed IDs once, thank you very much), and a quicker clean-up on the tables. Looking forward to my next visit!

How to describe it... Chipotle for pizza? You can choose to get a pizza or a salad, and then you pick your toppings. The possibilities are endless, and the price is fantastic. Definitely one of my new favorites places to eat. Their pre-designed pizzas and salads are all pretty good, but if you feel adventurous, you can try your own combinations (sometimes it'll be good, sometimes not so much, just try again next time). PS - Try getting an egg on your pizza. It's awesome.

This place is like a Subway for pizza! You start out at the beginning with plain dough (all pizzas are the same size with the exception of a smaller size for kids) and you can order one of their specialty pizzas or make your own. They also have salads that you can customize as you go along as well. We got the Southwestern specialty pizza with spicy marinara, and what seemed like 20 toppings. It was delicious!! I had a small salad. It was very fresh and I literally ate the entire thing. The crust is very thin, and if you are a big eater or are exceptionally hungry, you probably won't get full by sharing a pizza with someone. They have a lot of drinks.. beer, wine, tea, and one of those fancy touch screen Coke machines. There is also a coffee bar. The inside is clean and spacious with indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to next time, because there definitely will be a next time.

Great choice for pizza! You can add as many toppings to your pizza for one flat cost. My husband and I took full advantage of the large variety of veggies they offer including artichokes, roasted peppers, and more yummies. They do offer vegan cheese if that is your thing.

New to town, I was anxious to try a local pizza spot. Pyro's certainly didn't disappoint. As others have stated, they do things "Subway-style". (Read: pick your own ingredients without an upcharge, not fresh outta the bag ingredients like Subway. Here, they seemed ultra fresh.) Since it was my first time here, rather than choose it all myself and end up with a jumbled mess, I went with a specialty to see if their concoctions lived up to the hype. Ordering was simple since I wanted all the included ingredients on my BBQ pizza. I loved that the bar was separate and you could pay for a beer with your food, walk over and peruse the (small, but well-rounded and largely local) menu of beers on tap, and pick one out, as they were all the same price. I chose the Yazoo Hefeweizen, a nice light choice for a flavorful pizza. The place was pretty busy for a really late lunch, but it wasn't too noisy or crowded. We easily found a seat, and the patio looked really nice too. The pizzas came out incredibly fast but were done to perfection. I didn't get a lot of "wood fired" taste, but the thin crust was a perfect match for the ingredients in that it let their flavor shine through and do the dazzling. My BBQ pizza was loaded with toppings, and while it was tasty and I would order it again, my husband's southwest pizza stole the show. A slow heat southwest sauce with black beans and corn? Yes please! A more unique offering than the BBQ, but I can see why you'd feel obligated to have a BBQ pizza here. I'll have to try my hand at pizza crafting next time, but it will difficult to turn down the specialties.

The pizza and ingredients are fresh. Food taste good but nothing to hoot and holler about. More of a self serve type and I did not like getting in line and ordering from the counter concept. If I am going to spend that much for a pizza, I would like a sit down service. Great for " to go" concept though.

    (2)
  • William F.

A different concept in pizza. Think Moe's, or Chipolte, but you craft your own pizza or salad to order. The crust is thin and crispy. 40 different toppings. Everybody gets exactly what they want. My only complaint is that at times the line is long. Need to tweek the business model to allow faster movement of customers through the line. Places like Chick Filet and In and Out have that down pat. Pay the tab, fix your drink and sit down, your pizza will be brought to you in about 5 minutes. Hot from the brick oven. I'm spoiled, don't want any other pizza at all. Oh yeah, check in via social media for coupons for a free drink.

A nice neighborhood pizza place that's perfect for all ages & flavor preferences! I took my grandmother, parents, and young cousins here. Everyone loved it. The ordering was a breeze and the wait for the food to be brought to the table was not long. There is an 'event' space with a super long table that is usually empty -- we chose that seating. Our family mix-n-matched slices so we got to try it all! My pesto pizza turned out delicious and the BBQ chicken was spicy and sweet. I would certainly return here whether with family, or brings some friends along for a fun casual dinner.

    (4)
  • Shane S.

The pizza is good. I love thin crust and once you order the wait isn't that bad. However, I hate waiting in a long line to order food. The variety here is good, but I feel the flavor for some reason suffer here. I'm not sure if its the sauce or the ingredients? It can be a fun place with a small group, while sharing each others pizza.

  • Arthur K.

If the intention here is to offer first class pizza and salads, the sad fact is that they don't. The pizzas are acceptable -- thin crust and mid-quality, food service ingredients -- and the salads are well below satisfactory, with tired greens (twice in two visits) and syrupy sweet dressings (balsamic tonight, poppy seed last time) that have NOTHING to do with the freshness and vivacity of vinaigrette-based salads. Nice staff, disappointing fare, nothing to distinguish from the mass-produced stuff you can purchase online.

  • Malthe J.

Great pizza, great service. The pizza is a bit small in my opinion, but I guess, really, a normal pizza is larger than what one person should have in a meal. They have a good, varied selection of toppings and I really liked the spicy marinara (that is: spicy tomato sauce)

    (4)
  • JaspalandAman H.

My favorite... Especially on free drink Tuesdays with Facebook or Twitter check-in... The pizzas are personal sized, and quick to come out... The salads can also be converted into pizzas!!

After hearing about Pyros at least once a week from my coworkers I was able to experience Pyros first hand today for lunch. I cannot wait to go back. I really like the concept and had a great experience. The pizza was the perfect size and you could possibly take some home for another meal if you order the larger size. Try the spicy marinara sauce. It is the perfect amount of heat. The pizza is light and crispy and is not at all greasy. The place is very clean and modern. The service was fantastic. I'm thankful for this new dining option on Union.

I love pyro's!!! I became a fan after I visited the Poplar Ave location a few months ago, and I am SO SO glad and relieved that one opened up on Union. FOOD - Pyro's pizza is amazing! I love it! If you love THIN CRUNCHY pizza, with freshly made ingredients and UNLIMITED toppings; then this is your place to go! The pizzas come in Kids size, Snack size, and Adult size (which is an 11" pizza). You can specialize it with their made to order pizzas-say the name and they'll just put the toppings on there for you (like buffalo chicken pizza, pesto pizza). Or you can customize it like I do and add on as many variety of toppings as you want, and as many quantity of toppings as you want! Keep telling them to load it on if you LOVE andouille sausage (which is so good there, btw) or keep telling them to load up the canadian bacon! They also have make your own salads, which is good too! It is a bit pricey for the salads, (~$7 for a salad?) but well worth it if you get your money back in toppings and you're the lone health freak in a group of pizza eaters (which I am usually). Also, i have to rave about the drinks. They have the typical 1,000 drink combo machines (that you see at Wendy's and Five Guys) but they ALSO have MANGO AND PEACH TEA!!!!!!! its not TOO sweet, its just right, and it is amazing!!! and i know this is a very little thing but they have like my fav ice (you know the kind you get at sonic that's small round and soft? yes i love that type of ice!) . I'm asian, and I NEVER order drinks when I eat out. but I can't allow myself to get away with not ordering one just so I can fill up on peach/mango tea! Drink refills are unilmited btw, so you DO get your monies worth. The adult pizzas are around $8 and the kids pizzas are around $4. SPECS - This location is pretty spacious!!! Very deceptively roomy. I know everything on Union is cramped and made to be small ish to fit more businesses, but its very long, so it stretches all the way to the back. You'll be able to find seating! SERVICE - The workers were so friendly and nice! They came around twice to check on us, and immediately took away our trays! Amazing service! Of course this could just be because they JUST opened, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just that friendly normally, no matter when you visit. OVERALL - i love pyro's. period. There are tons of people who will always argue that Aldo's is the best pizza joint in town. I won't deny Aldo's credit for using high quality ingredients and having a very nice hipster feel to the place, but pyro's is legit! Their pizzas are thinner, and you can customize them to what you want, and the drinks are better here! (by that i mean the unlimited/self serve non-alcholic drinks). I didn't recall it having a bar like the Pyro's location on Poplar, but I will update my review the next time I visit.

Pyro's is pretty cool. You walk up like it's Subway, and order your pizza toppings like you would order your sandwich. Once you concoct the pizza of your dreams you can pay, sit down, and within a couple of minutes a little pizza will be brought to your table. The menu online said they used Daiya cheese but they have changed to Teese, which does not melt like Daiya but whatever. If they added a vegan meat or tofu to the toppings it would make this place even better for us vegans. But it was a decent veg meal while in town!

I am pumped to have this place with two locations. The pizza is on point and the service is tough to beat. Make sure to order the sweet bites "later" with extra icing. I love that you can load your pizza up with all the meat or you could make a simple cheese pizza. It is your choice. I of course choose the mountain of meat. The savory bites are good with the alfredo sauce. I strongly recommend this place.

Met a couple of cops going into this place. They said it was probably the best pizza in Memphis. I got the BBQ pizza and it didn't disappoint. The pesto is also fantastic. You can make up any sort of pizza you like here its all good and surprisingly fast too

One of my favorite places for lunch in Memphis. They do it right .Great customer service and they adapt great to obsticals. This is a great sign of good management and training. So this place will be a high end place for along time to come. The food is great and the prices are just right.

First visit to Pyros and I'm hooked! There's really nothing that beats an 11 inch pizza with any toppings you want for $8.30! And it was delicious! With a variety of sauces and cheeses to choose from, add in pretty much any topping you could imagine, and the possibilities are endless! They also have several specialty pizzas to choose from, that can easily be turned into a salad for the same price. I have not one bad thing to say about Pyros and I'll definitely be going back!

Went for lunch the first time today! A friend and I got there around 11:00. She ordered a pizza and I ordered a Cajun chicken salad! It was amazing! I loved the environment and it was extremely clean! The staff was very comical and funny! I highly suggest this place for lunch, but noticed they also have a bar area, so it would be great for dinner, too! Check it out! They have one on Union and Ridgeway.

Ah Pyros. Such a simple concept with a glorious execution. This is the greatest pizza in town and it is all thanks to you. You are right there observing and directing your pizza prep. Want an insane amount of cheese, more than the monthly recommended dose? No problem, they will prep it as so. No matter what crazy combination I have tried it has turned out good. Alongside the make your own pizza, they have a build your own soda machine. Perfect for pyros setup. So just stop reading this and go there now.

The first time I came here I was not too thrilled. My gluten free (GF) pizza had an odd texture and my friends and I couldn't finish a slice. However! The management here is outstanding- prompt, friendly service. The kind owner reached out to me to correct the situation. I received vouchers so that I could try the GF pizza again. Honestly, I still didn't like the crust but this time my pizza was thoroughly cooked and crispy! I can definitely say that the GF crust is much taster the longer it's cooked!! Bottom line- I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys pizza! If you're GF, go for one of their salads!! Thank you Pyros! My first review: The gluten free crust is the worst I've ever had! It's pre-made somewhere else; the girl had to unwrap the plastic coating from it before she could put the toppings on it. It tasted like the pressed a bunch of almond flour and barely baked it.. Words can't describe the texture so work with me- it was like powdery, flavorless cement that disintegrates in your mouth... It's foul. On the brighter side- they have an excellent selection of toppings! I loved the flavor of my pizza, especially the broccoli, but I couldn't get over the gluten free crust texture. They only have Memphis brew on tap, with the exception of Bud Light. I would recommend this restaurant to somebody who isn't gluten intolerant, but I honestly won't be back.

Tons of options for customizable pizza. I wasn't 100% sold on the gluten free dough but the other items were enticing enough for me to return. Convenient location (walking distance) to a few hotels if you're visiting the town.

Ok... First the good. Price and selection of toppings are great. For a little over 9 bucks with tax, you can be quite satisfied with a shmorgasborg of flavors and the promise of a crispy crust is spectacular. The decor is quite hip and has a really good vibe. And now the not so good... I built my own pizza with a variety of toppings. While there were a huge quantity, there wasn't exactly the greatest QUALITY. Chicken that really was dried scraps, practically minced artichokes, "carmelized" red onions that weren't even browned. For a place with such a huge overhead, I'd like to see a few more premium options that actually resembled the original product. I'd pay for that. And the crust.. To be honest, I love crispy things. Crunch, crackle, and snap are the ideal situation for a pizza crust, but that dough has some gluten and still some doughy-ness. Pyro's was much more of a cracker (high gluten) baked to the very edge of being overdone. Was it bad? NOT AT ALL. However, don't think you are going to get the satisfying resiliency of dough that you would at a traditional Italian joint. Would I go back? Sure because no one else in Memphis has offered such an experience. Just make sure you know you are getting more of a flat bread than a pizza.

Is there a way to give 6 stars?! I was SO impressed with this place for lunch! Only $8 for a personal, thin crust, 11" pizza with any (as many as you want!) toppings! The buffet style lineup allows you to view all the fresh ingredients, choose your options (soup or salad, cheese type, protein, toppings etc) as you watch everything being prepared right in front of you! I loved my southwest chicken pizza and my friend enjoyed her pesto chicken pizza! They have CHEAP beer and wine and also have salad options and fresh mango and flavored teas! Yum! I will be back soon Pyro's!

This place is pretty great. The pizzas are fresh and fast, and getting to choose your own ingredients Subway style is a nice touch. 5 of us (4 adults and 1 kid) ate here for a little over $40, and we all left feeling satisfied. I tend to like my pie crust a bit thicker, but for a very thin crust pizza this place does well. Check them out if in the area.

  • Miles T.

Pyro's is glorified fast-food. Looks like Chipotle, feels like Subway, tastes like Taco Bell. The ingredients taste highly processed, and are clearly not prepared on-site. The decor is nice though. And the local beer options are great - hence the two stars I give. If you're looking for good pizza, try somewhere else.

Pizza is my favorite food and I will totally admit to being a pizza snob. Pyros is hands down THE best pizza in Memphis right now! The patio at the Midtown location is the bomb. The staff is super friendly. The pizza is... there are no words!!!! Thin crust and beautifully crispy, gluten free options. The pesto pizza with sundried tomatoes is INSANE. Literally the only criticism is you WILL want more. Please consider delivery, Pyros! The only competition I've ever found was an Italian restaurant in Cooper Young that is now closed! #901original #38104

Pizza is good and got great flavor. Not too large (11 inch), hence it is perfect for a nice meal without overeating. Beer is good, they carry a lot of the Wiseacre and HCB stuff, which is good since they are supporting local business! Price point is perfect. For about $8 a pizza, I felt good about getting good value as well as not walking out of the place with the guilt of chomping down 2000 calories. Customer service is good too! There were some servers that were very friendly, there we others behind the pizza making counter that didn't look enthusiastic, but didn't provide bad customer service either. Just felt they were more transactional instead of relational. The ambiance is contemporary and very spacious and has enough seats to accommodate a rush hour crowd. The payment logistics (pay up front) makes life simple for both the customers and the servers. Ample of parking behind the restaurant. Infact, the entrance is behind the restaurant. My only improvement suggestion is that they need a few more 'pre-fixed' pizza choices. They have a 'build your own', but need some different choices. I would heavily recommend a vegetarian option in the pre-fixed choices. I wish them all the best in terms of expansion and wish them a profitable business!

Our family likes the pizza, beer and fancy soda machine, but we don't like the consistently long waits in line. I think making pizza in the "subway" style where everyone waits behind you is a waste of time. I just want to order and sit down, not watch 10 people get their pizzas made before me while my feet ache after a long day.

I love this place. I am a fan of pizza and salad so when I can get both, that are really good and a decent price, I'm excited. You can order off the pre-built menu items or you can build your own salad or pizza. The first time I ate here, I got the regular pizza and built my own. I think I ended up going with pepperoni, venison, red onion with the regular marinara sauce and mozzarella-cheddar cheese blend. It was great! The second time, I built my own salad. Don't ask me what I put in it. Lots of veggies and chicken with the spicy ranch. When you get a salad, you get this really awesome breadstick. Trust me, it's good! The third time I ate here, I think I finally figured it out. I got the snack size pizza with a side salad. The pizza had an olive oil base with cheese, chicken and veggies. The salad was also loaded with veggies, cheese and bacon. (Don't forget the breadstick.) I think this is the best lunch option for me, because I'm able to have both and don't leave feeling stuffed.

Great little spot with a cute, crisp interior and a nice patio area. The salads, like the pizzas, come with a plethora of topping/mix-in options including some not-so-typical options like roasted garlic, pickled onions, and roasted broccoli. And what goes better with a freshly topped slice of pie than an ice cold local brew?! Pyro's has a handful of local selections in addition to the normal mainstream picks.

This new pizza place is going to give all other pizza places a run for their money. Great concept of creating my own pizza, lots of very fresh, flavorful toppings, great sauce choices and they have one of the new coke machines with hundreds of drink choices. They have a great local beer selection as well. The only downside I can find is there is it can take a while to place your order if there is a line. Pyros will definitely be on my long term list of places to grab lunch or dinner. ***be sure to get one of the admins at the register... The honey balsamic is great. Also, the savory bites are excellent addition to dinner.

Visit Pyro's today for the first time and will definitely be back. It's sort of a higher-end Subway-type ordering system...pick your menu item and then customize it. I got the side salad and snack pizza which was the perfect size for lunch. I did the Southwestern salad which was delicious and had a nice kick and then built my own veggie pizza. The service was a little slow, especially considering they weren't busy at the time, but they were friendly and the food made up for it.

Great little pizza place! I love the assembly line, create your own choice. The staff is very energetic. They have local beers on tap as well as fancy coffee (not my thing but may be good for others). Recently learned they make breakfast as well. Cool open air indoor patio room, pretty decor. Quick, easy, delicious.

It's essentially a very nice Subway, but with Pizza instead of subs. I went here with a friend in the first few weeks that this location had opened, and was not impressed. All of the toppings are laid out in front of you as the staff throws them on top of the dough in a very rough manner. The buckets of toppings definitely do some mixing, so you can easily end up with a couple stray toppings that you don't desire. I'm really fine with this, but in conjuction with the stale, bland toppings, it makes it seem all the more annoying and disappointing. All of their pizzas are flat bread style, so if you are looking for NY style or deep dish, you will not find it here. Also, although the prices are very reasonable for an 11 inch pizza ($8.95), do remember that flat bread pizzas are a lot less filling than a regular pizza. So if you plan on just getting one pizza to split between 2 people, I hope neither of you are that hungry. The stale toppings and flat bread aside, it is a pretty cool venue inside and does serve alcohol. They do have a patio that would be great on a nice day with a beer, but I just don't think that the pizza would be anything to write home about. The biggest positive of their pizza is that it's so customizable and that you can get unlimited toppings.

I was hesitant to go to Pyro's. My friend had a really bad experience at the Ridgeway location. We waddled into the midtown location for lunch yesterday. I was overwhelmingly surprised. The parking was decent. The layout was cool. Beverage options were endless. The staff was VERY friendly without being obnoxious. Props to Cody for taking the time to talk to us about the restaurant concept. My husband and I tried two TOTALLY different types of pizza. Both were delicious. It was fairly priced for the amount of food we received. I love that they do breakfast pizza in the morning too!! Will definitely be back.

Choose your own sauce (marinara/spicy marinara/alfredo/pesto), own cheese, meat and veggies as much as you want (no limit) and eat such huge 11" pizza for just $8.30+tax. Totally worth it. They have numerous options for sauces, cheeses, meat and veggies. This is better than any pizza places we have in Memphis. They also have few local draft beers and wine. The seating area is huge with outside seating as well. The parking is in the rear side of the restaurant. MUST TRY place if you want to try some healthy 'junk' food. You can make it totally healthy by just putting veggies and no cheese.

Love this place. The pizza is fresh and the topping selection vast. One of my favorite places to eat while I'm in Memphis.

I value the flavor of the crust in a pizza a lot. (If you don't, please disregard/discount my review.) As much as I want to tip my hat to their interior design choices, the pizza dough falls flat. That is a bummer, I would have been happy to spend more time there. Beer is priced well, place feels and looks good, large screens if you want to organize a viewing party, etc. But the pizza just isn't that good. Other than the crust, they could consider increasing the quality of their ingredients, such as fresh mozzarella.

  • Mocca T.

Friendly energetic staff, great local beers at equally great prices and a modern, sleek ambiente are all good reasons to enjoy the company of your friends here. But the pizza isn't the best in town, solid but not as remarkable as the rest of the place for Memphis. The flavor of the dough/crust is more of an afterthought, but the ingredients/toppings aren't great enough to make up for it. It is fun to cobble together your own pizza and literally have everything on it, but overall the flavors were not as impressive.

This place is excellent. My wife and I live very close, and saw that it was open last night. We decided to just stop in for a beer, but after seeing the pizza, we ordered a snack size, even though we had already had dinner. The pizza was delicious, and the crust was thin and tasted like a Neapolitan style pizza that you would get in Italy. The toppings and sauce were very American style, though. The marinara sauce was particularly delicious . The beer selection was also great - they had two taps each from Wiseacre, High Cotton, and (I think) Memphis Made. One thing that I really admire about the restaurant is that they don't accept tips. After reading about why it's a great idea for restaurants not to accept tips for awhile (see:http://www.salon.com/2013/06/11/new_york_restaurant_bans_tips_for_wait_staffs_own_good/), I'm really glad a restaurant in Memphis decided to do this.

For the price -especially if you like lots of toppings and want a decent pizza -this place is a great choice. It's unique in that they build your pizza in front of you (think Subway), and they have a plethora of toppings. For the pizza alone, it's roughly 9 bucks, and you'll be full when you leave if you load up the toppings like I do. This location appears small on the outside, but it's surprisingly big with a nice patio and local beers on tap.

I normally excited about food I order from Pyro's. My fiancé and I go once a week to satisfy our cravings for delicious, fast, and affordable pizza. In fact, we were there last night. This is where I saw the sign that you were now serving steel cut oatmeal--a personal favorite of mine since it's less mushy than rolled oats. So, this morning, I made a point to head to work a little early to allow time for me to stop in and get some oatmeal. When I got there around 750am, no employees were seen behind the counter. I finally saw a guy preparing dough balls for the bites. When another girl came out from the back, I told her I would like oatmeal to-go. I watched for the next several minutes as she walked into the back multiple times to retrieve the toppings for he oatmeal. She served me 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a small amount of strawberries and blueberries, popped on the lid and proceeded to ring me up. $5.24...for half a cup of oatmeal (watery cold oatmeal, as I found out when I got into my car). That's only $1 less than a snack size pizza, and $1 more than a custom coffee beverage. I was amazed at this price, and at the quality of the product considering how consistent and reasonable your product normally is. I would consider the competition's prices (under $4 at both Starbucks and Panera), and reevaluate your current rate. I hate to be so thoroughly disappointed in a place I love to patron, but I definitely am today.

Now this place is something special. I've eaten here probably 20 times in the last 3 months. Pizzas cost around $8, and you get unlimited toppings! Tip: Get lots of cheese as a base so you meat and toppings stay on after cooked in their oven. If you haven't eaten here you need to.

Great fresh atmosphere that is perfect for groups or quiet gatherings. Build your own pizza is the name of the game, but specialty pizzas are available with great options to choose from. A beer and coffee bar awaits you after you order, where you can pick from bottles or draft selections. Then grab a hot specialty coffee to finish the night. Definitely a great environment, open floor plan, a breezeway room and secluded party rooms. This place is definitely much bigger on the inside than looks would have you believe.

Great local beers for $4. The pizza was great too even though people on here called it "subway!" You can't beat the price and we even took 1/2 of our pizzas home! The staff was friendly and it was nice to sit outside (and watch football haha.)

Great lunch spot! The pizza was delicious and they had lots of topping options. I got coffee at the drink bar, and that was pretty neat as well. food came out really quickly! I am only in town for a week and I want to come back

I went here for the first time yesterday. I read reviews first and from the reviews I was a little skeptical because I really wanted a good pizza. First of all...I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly conversation...this alone will make me return to a restaurant. Next I made my pizza exactly how I wanted and it was very very good. Reviews I read before going, complained about the thin crust..the crust is indeed thin but its FRESH real dough! It was crispy and chewy at the same time. I will definitely be going back! The staff here is great! Keep up the good work!

The owner/manager contacted me about giving them a second try. The effort to reach out was a nice touch. I'll be back. He did inform me that the pizzas were "personal sized" (large!) so next time I go, I'll be sure to order two and take home the extras.

Man, do I love this place! Build your own pizza & the price is the same. Doesn't matter if it's a cheese pizza or one with 10 different things. And that pizza is so damn tasty. Get some!

I went a few weeks back and wasn't terribly impressed with the service. I ranted pretty hard and was contacted by management and given a sincere apology. I was invited as their guest. I went during the end of the lunch rush and they were packed. I got a real idea as to their sheer volume of business. When I got to the counter, I was greeted and my order was taken in parts as I went down the line. Each staff member was courteous and quick. My personal pizza was created and I was given my number. As I waited for it to cook, I discovered that they had a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine! When my pizza came, I was highly satisfied with the quality. Cody came by to check on my friends and me. We had nothing but good things to say. I will be returning soon! I'll be bringing others! These employees are constantly moving and working during the rush. The prep must be immense. I am impressed and glad Pyro's is in my neighborhood.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
