Waited over 40 minutes for food. The waitress got screamed at for asking how much longer in the back and it changed the whole atmosphere. We were one of two families inside the restaurant so the wait was unbelievable. I would understand if they were full but it doesn't take that long to make pancakes. The waitress was nice and patient. We have yet to try the food.

My first visit to ANY Steak 'n Shake. Service is incredibly slow. Waited 20 minutes at the drive thu. Food was not worth the wait. It's really, really annoying to give your order and have to repeat it twice. Quizzed at the window about the order. AND they still get it wrong. Totally not worth it.

My overall experience today was not the best. Services started off well and plummeted afterwards several customers arrived after me and a large groups and they receive their food ,drinks prior to mines The overall wait time for food was unreal! Are booth seating was dirty and when we went to pay there were five waitresses at the way-station occupied in their conversation not worried about the fact that I was ready to pay only to make eye contact a number of times someone finally decided to come to the cash register.

I have never seen such slow service in my life. I've been stuck in the drive through lane for 20 minutes. I'm held hostage with a car in front and a car behind me. I don't care if this is the best burger in the world, it's not worth the tortuous wait. This is a nightmare. Avoid this place at all costs.

20 minutes for two waters and have NEVER received my shake before my meal. I reccomend getting it to go if you even plan on enjoying it. It honestly is the slowest "fast food" in history. I've gotten my food faster at 5 star restaurants.

worst slowest service i've ever received. if i could give them negative stars i would. every time i place an order here there's been multiple things wrong with it. i usually go late night and it still somehow takes forever to even get my drink, yet there's never a lot of people in there. if i order a milkshake i request it in a to go cup because I've never gotten my shake before my food. I've started going through the drive thru thinking that would be faster yet even that has never taken me less than 15-20 minutes. to top it off the last time i got food from this location there was a long hair in my fresco sauce. angry and disappointed just about sums up my experiences with this Steak 'n Shake.

First of right off the bat, it took 5 minutes to be seated and it was the manager who did so. He had a stain right across his shirt that was dried and had been there for a while which set the tone for what would be a terrible experience on the whole. Before seating us, he was frantically cleaning the table tops with dry napkins, nothing at all wet to really clean tops. In addition, he completely missed the seats and I had to wipe mine out which was heavy with crumbs. The menus could have used a 'dry' napkin as well. After waiting 5 full minutes to get a server to take our order, it took her a further 8 minutes to get our drinks. In that time, I 'drank' in my surroundings which were squalid; the floor hadn't been mopped in a day I'm guessing seeing as it was caked with a dark substance, the walls were mucked up with fingerprints and there was caked condiments on our holder. Then I watched as the male server that day sit down to take an order from a customer. In that time, he could have cleaned a few tables. It took them 15 to 20 minutes to clear tables. Then when the drinks did come, she didn't give us straws. Finally, the food arrived and it was mediocre at best because it had been sitting under the warmer for about 5 minutes. We also sat with finished plates for a total of 10 minutes and had to ask for the ticket. The place is a shambles and if you have low standards, I suggest eating there. Bad idea of cleanliness, bad service, mediocre food and an unpleasant experience through and through. I will not be back to that location at all.

Drive straight past. Slowest fast food in history. Our food came out barely warm and they messed up a milkshake.

Ouch, I can't really say anything good about this place besides that the one server we had tried very hard! She just couldn't get the kitchen staff to do their job! The shakes also tasted funny (two different occasions) and that's unusual for "Steak N Shake" lol!

I love me some Steak N Shake but holyshit does this specific one in Hermitage just completely suck. I'm a regular, about 3 times a month so, I'm aware they are slow and always understaffed which in turn effects their food quality. I am currently waiting to place my drink & food order at the bar area. There's 2 servers, 1 cook & 1 back of house cleaner/dishes and there about 15 people in the restaurant. I am at the 15minute mark right just sitting her watching the servers pass me by and pay no attention and its not like they are busy now. The rush is over and everyone has their food in the restaurant, except me. Lol. Welp, just now got my order taken after waiting 25min. I jad to flag the server down. They apologized for missing me have offere to comp my meal. I received my meal fairly quick, like 10minutes so that was good. All in all they ended up making up for the delay and I'm happy. Now its time to eat. The food is cooked perfect and steaming hot. Yum! Hopefully my next time around will be smoother but same quality food.

Absolute worst service I've ever had at any Steak n' Shake. We recently moved to the area and this is our 5th visit here and it is consistently slow and terrible service. Food is fine if you're willing to wait for it.

I've never had a problem here. food is always good, fast and hot. nothing has ever been messed up. the people are always friendly. it's always great! I do hate the drive thru but it's slow at every Steak 'n Shake. it's not just this one. I'd rather just dine in.

Waiting in a ridiculously long line would have just been only irritating if my milk shakes had been correct in quality. They instead we're not even full cups with not much whip cream and melted like they had been sitting on and oven or made when ordered and left out during the huge wait in line. She didn't even give us a receipt and wanted to charge us full price even though we had a but one get one coupon. Will never return to this location. I'm not close to any steak n shakes so when I get to go to one it's got to be worth the trouble and this lack of quality And waste of time in line for not unfilled cups and melted unsatisfying version of their shake isn't worth my time ever! I will go to jack in the box or sonic!

This was my first trip to Steak 'n Shake and I was not disappointed. It is a diner/fast food restaurant, but I was impressed with the food and the prices were great. There was a whole menu of Burgers and Fries under $5 as well as a huge selection of shakes to choose from. I had a bacon steak burger and strawberry shake. Both were awesome and the meal was reasonably priced. I'm definitely gonna have to check this place out again!

Was sat immediately. Order taken quickly. It took a little long for the milkshake to come out. Food was delayed as well. When the food arrived, the reason given for the delay was the kitchen. The horseradish burger was over-loaded with sauce. The prince royal was bland. The fries were not salted.

Very very slow. We waited 30 mins for someone to notice that we have not had our order. A guy finally came per and took our order but mentioned he is going to be off the clock in 15 mins so he would have to give our order to someone else. Very poor costumer service. The place had 3 other costumers.

Absolutely the best Steak 'n Shake I have ever visited! The service was fast, polite, and everything arrived at the table HOT and CORRECT, which is rare in my experiences with S'n'S in Alabama, Georgia, or others in Tennessee. We arrived by complete accident, with a car full of post-concert hungry people driving home from Nashville. I just so happened to find this place on my GPS and I am so happy that I did. Seek this one out, it's worth your time!

This was my first time. It's been recommended to me everytime I come down south. I went for the chipotle burger and a banana shake. I was hoping the burger would be a bit spicier but it still tasted good and I didn't feel overly stuffed finishing it. But I got it primarily for the bacon =P The shake ended the meal quite well. You could say it hit the spot.

Just have to say that the only reason I come to this horrid place is because the old lady I care for loves the food. The service is awful. You walk in, six or seven employees will look at you for a brief second before going back to looking busy, stand for 10 minutes, they all look at you again with no reaction, and another 10 minutes later someone will come to seat you. As if that weren't bad enough, you sit and play the waiting game for someone to come to take just a drink order. Usually 20 minutes or so later, you go ahead and order your drink and food. Finally, if you're truly lucky, you may not have died of dehydration and starvation in the 30 minutes or more you've waited for a burger, fries and a coke. The worst part is, the people that work here do not even care that their service stinks. You never get one apology or attempt of an excuse. I never come here unless I have to. This is not a gourmet restaurant. It is a burger joint. My advice? Go to McDonald's! Same food, only faster. Hence the name: Fast Food! But I guess this place missed that in the translation.

It's a Steak 'n Shake. I had a friendly waitress and the food was decent. I dug the pepperoncini juice they had.

Came there on a really crappy Sunday/Monday morning at about 12:30am. Wasn't their fault it was crappy, that was the other events of the night. Wanted change and was picking up food, unfortunately got there after someone from the hospital up the street had gotten there to order for 15 I'm guessing. I ordered the simplest thing I could as the order in front of me stretched to infinity... I guessed right, 2 grilled cheeses + fries trump all other orders, and I was watching mine get prepped, and done, maybe 2 minutes flat. They put it in a bag. And then I waited.. oh yeah, I ordered a Sprite also... 16 minutes later I still had no sprite... there's a weird theme of me not getting a sprite this night, but that's another story. 20 minutes and my food, in a bag 15 feet away from me, is still not in my hands. They're waiting on fries... I think they had to grow them. Finally my bag is handed to me, I ask where the condiments to go are and get no answer and decide to leave as there's a woman outside screaming and going otherwise nuts in the car next to mine. It's already been a crappy night, trying to not be part of the drama. I exit as the woman screams "are you people stupid or something" and berates them for getting her order wrong every single time. By screaming, I mean she's off the handle "this is ruining my life" style screaming. Get back a mile or so away to the hospital which I am stuck waiting at, the grilled cheese is cold, the fries are molten and then tasteless, there were no condiments that night. I mean, maybe there were, I wanted to get my car away from someone who felt the need to scream loudly enough that I heard it through her car. I don't know how Steak and Shake ruining that woman's life, but it sure sounded like someone's life was going to be over due to a messed up order.

I don't normally review fast food places, but I received such great customer service at this Steak n Shake I thought it deserved a mention. I went through the drive-thru on a Friday morning for breakfast. The wait was really long even though there were no cars in front of me. The lady at the window was super nice though and apologized for the wait. I got home only to realize that an order of hash browns was missing. I called the store to ask if I could come back at some point in the day to get them. The manager (which was the lady working the drive-thru, it turns out) was super nice and told me if I come back at any point during the weekend she would replace the whole meal for free. I went back through the drive-thru on Sunday and before I could even tell her what I wanted she knew and replaced it right away. She apologized some more and was just very friendly in general. It's human to make mistakes. It's how you respond afterwards that counts.

My BF and I went through the drive through. The service was friendly, but of average to slow in terms of speed. The reason for my low rating on this place, though, is the food. It was TERRIBLE. I ordered the patty melt. It was barely a slip of beef drowned in thousand island dressing, cheese, and butter. I don't object to the butter, but the combination of everything was just awful. My BF ordered a different melt and he was similarly disgusted. So, I cannot possibly recommend this restaurant to anyone after this experience no matter how nice the people were who gave us out food. AWFUL!

I went here for dinner and ordered the double steak burger with fries and a drink. Don't judge me, I had been shopping hard and worked up an appetite. The customer service was friendly from ordering at the menu to the window. We had to wait just a few minutes for our fries, and the guy came to the window to apologize for the wait and told us it would be out soon. Their super skinny shoestring fries were worth the wait and were crunchy and not over salted. The burger and toppings were also fresh, and perfectly paired with their signature crispy edges on the burger and a yummy buttered bun that takes it over the top. Definitely a strong contender for a great burger, especially if you are looking for a drive-thru option and don't want to drive to Green Hills and get out at Five Guys.

I think Steak 'n Shake has the best shakes in town, and I've grown to like their burgers as well. The cheap menu options are also a big plus: Getting one of their under $4.00 meals (which are not skimpy by any means) with a large $1.00 sweet tea is a deal that's really difficult to beat. This particular location has also not given me any problems, such as incorrect orders or cold food. My only slight complaint is that it takes a bit longer than a typical fast food drive-thru, so don't come here if you're pressed for time. I guess that's the price of fresher food.

Steak n Shakes can be a hit or a miss. I've had both great experiences and also so-so ones. All in all, it's a good SnS when you're hungry late at night and don't want to go through a drive-thru.
