Went there for dinner. The service was good and prompt. The waitress (Amanda) was great, listened to what I ordered and was extremely pleasant to deal with. Ask for her section. The food is a little in the high price side for what it is. But for where the location is, you can't really go wrong. The ambience is a little loud when the restaurant is busy. It is suggested you get reservations at peak times and you should. Great bar that is cert social and well poured drinks. The local executives do hang out here. The wine selection is varied but is a little higher on the price end than it should be. But that is somewhat expected. If you can avoid a table by the salad bar or serving area as it can be bothy busy and noisy. Ask to sample their steak sauce before you commit. Their written explanation does not necessarily do them justice.

$100 for two filets. I am not one to complain about food often and I typically give benefit for a screw up but the entire table had undersized filets. If you are going to charge $40 for a filet make it stand at least 2.5". Don't give a thin filet. Very disappointed. Go to a Del Frisco to see a real steak.

Sperry's has started to suffer in a few areas this past year and last evening was the lowest. I requested a specific area of the restaurant for a special dinner celebration. I reserved in advance and was assured that one of the 4 tables would be available for us. I reconfirmed that the day before, and again two hours before arrival. Needless to say, when we arrived none were available and 3 of the 4 tables had just been seated. Bad way to start! Our server, Katie was absolutely wonderful; friendly, knew the menu well, and very thorough. We ordered martinis from the bar but they were out of the first call choices. The drinks delivered were a bit watery, I would image they shook the martinis in shaved ice vs cubes which produces a lot of water. We started out with escargots, which is a signature dish that we have had on many prior occasions. Both our orders were terrible; a bit rubbery and swimming in water and lemon juice vs garlic and butter. Very disappointed. My wife's first entree choice, Sperry's signature bone in Ribeye was not available (not sure how a high end steak restaurant lets that happen), so she took Katie's recommendation on the NZ rack of lamb. I ordered the 6oz bacon wrapped filet rare based on recommendation. We both opted for the Wedge Salad vs the salad bar; again a huge disappointment. The Wedge should be served crisp and ice cold with a great blue cheese. What we received was a room temperature Wedge that was full of water. Furthermore the blue cheese was very thin and bland. The entrées were their only saving grace, as both were cooked perfectly, and they were flavorful and wonderful. Not a special dinner for sure, and with an all out of over $212.00 for two, not inexpensive. Sperry's must really step up their game. This was our 7th visit this year, but the experience is going from great to bad. With the many new excellent restaurants opening in Franklin almost weekly now, this old stand by better get to work, and fast.

Sperry's has been n my list to visit for a while, and I'm glad I had the chance Togo for my mother in law's birthday! Beginning, we tried to make reservations at 6, but the woman I called said that wasn't possible, so we moved it to 730. We arrived early, about 7:10 and our table was ready for us. Perfect start! For the party of six, our server was Adrian and he was spectacular; refills, recommendations, and frequent but not annoying checking on us to make sure we were okay. Food: The salad was great; fresh, chilled, crisp lettuce, spinach, and mixed greens, the veggies were fresh and chilled; the kind that it's almost too cold to eat. :-) I ordered the shrimp cocktail; warning: the shrimp are quite large and the cocktail sauce has a good amount of wasabi mixed it; cleared my sinuses out with one spoonful, but I'm not crazy about hot food. The ribeye; cooked to a medium perfection, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness, with the fat left on and it was unbelievable. The grilled asparagus was nice and smoky, al dente and the lemon spritz was an awesome addition to lighten it up. The lobster mac and cheese, however was a disappointment. It tasted prepackaged and bland. I don't order that again but everything else...absolutely!

Like the food, but service was subpar the night we were there. Enjoy the salad bar and homemade dressing. Steak was good, but not as good as previous dinners there.

Old school, as in there just aren't many of these any more. And there is probably a reason. Or several, as in Kayne Prime, Bob's in the Omni, and many other restaurants in Nashville that represent more quality options for your higher dollar dining wishes. There were a few really bright spots. The crab cakes were among the best verse sampled. The BBQ shrimp and grits were flawless and full of flavor. And...half price wines on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so a good wine list at reasonable prices. Problems: Prime Rib was below average. How are you a old school steakhouse with below average prime rib? Sides were unimaginative. We had the portobello mushroom and twice baked potato. Neither beat my kitchen, a cardinal rule for me. and the world famous salad bar was below Ruby Tuesday, a place I detest. Dessert was an $18 banana foster for two where our waiter had trouble with the table side equipment, resulting in warm sugary bananas that were less than they should have been. Maybe that's a one-off, but still. Bottom line? $150 dinner that was ok. I won't be back. Too many killer options to get to. I violated my number one rule. If they have a sneeze guard, I don't eat there. And I paid for it.

I've eaten here several times. No meal has ever been great. The food is average and expensive. The portions are a good size. The sauces are all very strong, so I recommend getting them on the side. All the food is very rich and heavy. The salad bar is great and tastes fresh. We've ate dinner and Sunday brunch several times. Both are about the same. Tonight I had the steak frites. The meat was very fatty and each piece was cooked to a different level of medium to rare. I prefer more consistency. French fries are good and so is the trout almondine. The brownie dessert is good. The strawberry cake is better. The bread could be a little browner as it looks like it isn't done. The restaurant is dark and intentionally looks old even though it's fairly new in Cool Springs. Excellent service and food is timely. Nice bar area. Sit by the fireplace in the winter.

Sunday Brunch Review: The coffee is amazing. The Oskar Benedict was phenomenal. The Brioche French Toast was too sweet and didn't have enough syrup. The bread was a little cold and a little dry. The decor is very quaint.

Just like the rating, Sperry's was ok. We had reservations so of course we were seated right away. It took some time to see a server, but not too long. The decor felt a bit old. It reminded me of an old restaurant chain that I grew up around called steak and Ale. It was cool back then, but feels dated now. It was my birthday, so this is the once-a-year steak that I order. So, you can be sure that I was expecting a stellar experience. I ordered the "Queen" portion of the prime rib. This was once my favorite cut, but I'm starting to think I may have grown out of it. The steak was dry and overcooked. I ate about half of it and then realized that I should have been done a few bites prior. The potato was fine, but it was a potato. My son said his burger was fine and my wife ordered shrimp and grits. In this part of the world, S&G is done well at many establishments. Her comment on this one??? Meh! This is not the worst place I've been, but as pricey and proud as they are with their food, it should have been much better. It was my first time and I'm pretty sure it was my last.

This place was recommended by our hotel for their dinner and brunch. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The decor was that of a traditional steakhouse and seemed quite "fancy" with the plate and silverware settings. Being that it was close to noon, I opted to go with their brunch menu and went with their belgium waffle with strawberries. The waffle was fantastic. The waffle was soft (just the way I like my waffles) and the strawberries were fresh. The coffee here is amazing. We had at least 4 cups of it and took some to go. Our waiter Von was exceptional and made our experience very memorable. Through conversation, we found out that it was first day on the floor as a waiter but you would never know by his attentiveness and customer friendly service. If you decide to visit please make sure you ask for Von. He made our experience outstanding. Overall we will definitely visit this place again when we are in the area.

My parents and their friends had a big group reservation for Valentine's Day. The restaurant wasn't able provide the dinner experience in a timely fashion - and most of the dinner party left the restaurant without eating. I called and spoke with Todd and Brian and was reassured the restaurant wanted to provide the best experience possible and they were terribly sorry about what happened. We reorganized the dinner and Sperry's took excellent care of everyone. I appreciate their effort and their remedy. A restaurant - big or small - doesn't have to circle back to make nice but they certainly did and it made an big impact on everyone's experience. Sometimes things don't go as we plan - but how we handle the problem matters. Thanks Sperry's - my folks and their friends will come back. I'll come in when I visit them.

Sperry's is a traditional steak restaurant with dark woods and leather ambiance you'd expect from a 40yr old establishment. We had an excellent filet dinner again. The steak was cooked medium rare perfectly to order, and the service was excellent. Bananas Foster cooked table side was excellent too. The food never disappoints. The only quirky aspect of Sperry's is the salad bar - just seems out of place to have a bottomless salad bar at a high end steak place, kind of 1970s-ish. But you can also get salads made to order. There are plenty of great steak restaurants in the Nashville area that are worthy of our dollars. We continue to eat steak at good places all over town, but Sperry's continues to hold its own. Highly recommended.

Wonderful bone in filet. Great staff and food. Would recommend. The decor reminds me of a hunting lodge. Our waiter was very professional. Just a really great dining experience with my husband

i got a groupon for brunch here and it was incredible. i had the eggs benedict with canadian bacon on an english muffin and hollandaise sauce. we also had sides of breakfast potatoes and applewood smoked bacon. oh, and i had a mimosa too. everything was incredible. the service was great and food amazing. the way this place is decorated leaves you to believe the owner is a member of some secret society like the illuminati or knights templar, and that there's secret meeting rooms for secret things behind secret dark wood wall panels. oh yeah, they gladly added avocado to my eggs benedict, avocado makes everything better. go here. now. or tomorrow.

Sperry's is a superb restaurant. The service and food are very well done. Last night was my first trip to Sperry's and my wife and I went with some friends. The four of us opened a bottle of wine and were pleased to find out that it was half-off. If you are looking for an excellent red, Educated Guess is an excellent Napa Cab selection. This was a great way to start the evening and we got to sit next to the fire! Our server did a wonderful job. I believe her name is Romana and she is from the Czech Republic. She forgot to bring a soup that was ordered, but really hustled and made sure that we were in perfect shape throughout the night. She threw in dessert to make up for the oversight. It was not a big deal and a blessing in disguise because we already had too much to eat. The steak was good. I had the Ribeye. The flavor was excellent, but it was a little fatty, even for that particular cut. The salad bar was also good. It is not big, but there are some unique salad dressings to try. I particularly liked the old style blue cheese. We also ordered a mac and cheese with crab meat in it. Awesome! For dessert, we had bananas foster, strawberry cake, and some kind of toffee bread pudding. My goodness, they were amazing. Do yourself a favor and pace yourself or even split a main course. The desserts are so good. Of the three, the strawberry cake was the best. Sperry's is a bit expensive. A steak will run you $25-$40. However, it is well worth the price and an excellent place to visit for a special occasion.

Great steak. Friendly and prompt service. I don't typically like salad bars, but theirs is clean and has a good variety.

Excellent food. I had bacon wrapped filet and lobster tail with drawn butter. Very good! We are big fans of filet mignon and we will definitely be back. I really like the candlelit, dark wood, elegant atmosphere. The waiter, Carlo, a true professional. He is excellent.

My wife and I have been here 3 times and each time was to celebrate either my birthday or hers. This is our restaurant of choice! It is definitely high end so you will pay around $150 - $200 for dinner for 2. But I promise you it will be worth it. The ribeye steak is phenomenal! No A1 steak sauce needed. The last time we went they had a special going where they had an incredible dry-aged steak. The steak was $46 but it was the best steak I've ever had! We both had it. I would strongly recommend this place for your special events. We haven't tried the banas foster yet but we will next time we go! Oh and make sure you get the mashed potatoes when they have them. OMG!!

Disappointing! We don't know what all the hype is about this restaurant. Service and food was much to be desired. Waitress couldn't remember if we ordered an appetizer or not, asked us twice. French onion soup tasted like a rosemary sprig! I ordered a medium cooked steak - it was delivered rare... the topper was by the time they got me my meal (I didn't want another steak so I only got a crab cake), my wife was completely done eating - and they charged us for this nasty food! Recommend not wasting your time here - try Legendary Steak House or Flemmings!

First time here and thought it was pretty good! It's not cheap so plan on spending $150-$200 for 2! We were celebrating my husband's birthday so we wanted to go somewhere nice. To start we got the Seared Tuna which was OK. Then I got the Wedge Salad which was really good if you like blue cheese, I didn't realize it had olives which I don't like, but I was able to pick them off. It had a lot of dressing on it so if you don't like a lot ask for it on the side! My husband got the Lobster Biscue and it was AMAZING! We both got the Filet and Crab Cake. First, the Crab Cakes were really good, filled with lots of crab. It's big enough you could actually split with someone. The 6 oz filet is bacon wrapped and my husband got the 8 oz which is not bacon wrapped. I preferred the filet without the bacon, it had a better flavor. For sides we got the Twice Baked Potato which was OK and Lobster Mac & Cheese which was rich, but pretty tasty. The sides feed 2 so really you would only need to get one unless you're really hungry. We wanted to try the Bananas Foster but we were so stuffed. The idea is neat because they make it table side, it's also $19! We ended up getting a smaller dessert, the Toffee Bread Pudding and it was super moist and sweet. We sat in the lounge which is a smaller room by the bar and it seemed a little more intimate, it was not noisy at all. The main dining room is very open and seemed crowded with the tables close together, so that's why we chose the lounge. We will go again sometime and try other things on the menu. It is a little over priced for what you get, but the overall experience was really good and we had a sweet waitress. Give it a try if you're looking for something different than your everyday dining!

Presentation, Presentation, Presentation... They have got it perfected. The ambiance is superb, the service is exemplary, and the food is exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a first class dining experience. The only shortcoming I found with the restaurant was the limited salad bar, but even that was not enough to delete the experience. Five stars was an easy choice for me. You must try and enjoy!

  • Luke F.

So average it was painful. Terrible decor, terrible salad bar, and average cuts of meat. The halibut was above average however. The service was actually very good, but not good enough to save a $100 bill for two that felt like it should've been $50. At this price point, J. Alexander's is so much better it's almost laughable, and about a mile away. Lesson learned....

We randomly picked this restaurant for Sunday brunch based on its reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was great. There was no wait and the service was excellent. Highly recommend the shrimp bisque and the gigantic $5 mimosas.

I'm kicking myself for waiting a decade of living in Nashville before finally trying Sperry's. But I guess I never went because I was younger, and I imagined the ambiance being stiff with that old money Belle Meade feel. I imagined everyone that dined there was at least my parent's age or older. But regardless, my husband and I finally went this week with our best friends on a double date to check it out. None of us have ever been, which surprised me because my husband and our friends are from Nashville. I'll just go ahead and say this, it was one of the best meals and experiences we've had in the area! We went to the Franklin location on a Tuesday night because we all live in that area now. The inside was everything I though it would be. Cozy, a lot of wooden decor, classic artwork, fire places, etc. The other patrons were exactly as I expected... an older crowd, men nicely dressed with sport coats, etc. It wasn't busy given it was the middle of the week. Our service was wonderful. The food from appetizer to dessert was amazing. Bottles of wine were half off. We all sampled and tried most of the food that was ordered, and I loved everything. We had a scallop appetizer and they were cooked perfectly. I love scallops so I can be very critical if overcooked. Very tender and served with a delicious aioli sauce. My friend and I decided to split two entrees that we both like, so we got the crab cakes and the Prince William stuffed filet (stuffed with blue cheese). Both were excellent and I can't say I liked one better than the other. The filet was cooked perfectly (medium) and was very tender. The two crab cakes were huge and was mostly huge chunks of crab meat, topped with a delicious whole grain mustard sauce. One crab cake is nearly a meal in itself, and they serve two of them. I hardly even noticed any breading in the dish. We also got a side of the lobster truffle mac and cheese, and it was really good (although I would have liked a little more of a sharp cheese flavor- but I guess that would take away from some of the other flavors). My husband and his best friend both enjoyed their ribeye steaks, although they were disappointed at first when they were told that they were out of prime rib that night (which they had set their heart on). I had ordered the crab bisque, but it did not come out with our salads. When I told the server when our entrees came out, she felt terrible, and I told her not to worry about it since I was well on my way to being stuffed and they only serve it by the bowl (not cup). In return, she immediately told us my dessert was on the house. Great customer service there. Now dessert. They cook up bananas foster for two table side. Lord, had I known they did this, I definitely wouldn't have waited ten years to come here. It's one of my favorite desserts. Although it was the most expensive dessert because it serves two, they comped it no questions asked. Our friends had a toffee pudding which was amazing as well as strawberry cake. The cake was good but not my favorite of the three. The banana foster was delicious. We will definitely be back at some point. We'll probably check out their brunch as I've heard it's amazing as well.

Went on a Saturday night and it was pretty crowded, but luckily we'd made reservations (for 7:00 - and the waiter told us it was good that we'd arrived at the end of their busy time since the salad bar would be less crowded.... it's a different clientele than most restaurants!). Nice, classy, traditional atmosphere, great service, as expected for an old-fashioned steak house. We went specifically so that I could have the prime rib, my favorite cut. It was fantastic - I got the 32 oz king cut and it was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, thick, served with traditional au jus and horseradish. My wife had the twin lobster tails, which were good, but it was a pretty small serving and there were no side dishes (only the salad bar). Yes, lobster's expensive so maybe we should have expected that, but you hate to pay $30 for an entree and be hungry a few hours later. Salad bar is good - nice choice of lettuce/greens, veggies, other toppings and dressings. I suppose it's all you can eat, although I didn't see people returning multiple times ;) They do bananas foster at the table for 2. I was stuffed after the prime rib so we didn't try it, but the table next to us did and it looked great. Pricey, but I thought it was worth it. Definitely recommend the prime rib.

Third visit to Sperry's last week. As another reviewer mentioned, definitely an old school steakhouse. Most of our party ordered filets and raved about them. One of the filets did look a little bit like it had been cooked in a waffle iron but the flavor was still on point. My salmon was deliciously seasoned and prepared to a perfect medium rare doneness. The twice baked potatoes were a heart attack on a plate but flavorful. And the asparagus was also well-prepared. Espresso brownie ala mode was nothing short of decadent. Low points: 1970s era salad bar in style and content...why? And for the money, I would expect more creative and healthful options on the menu. As a throwback steakhouse, Sperry's delivers. Maybe that's what their clientele wants and expects but I prefer more updated choices.

Worst restaurant for the price in town. Do not go here for a correctly cooked or non-tenderized steak. Absolutely no need for the exorbitant pricing. Typical middle Tennessee fame totally undeserved. I can't remember the specifics of the Mother's Day meal we shared earlier this year, but I wanted to put this review up so people can be warned fairly.

Definitely costly, and definitely worth the cost. I had the bacon wrapped filet and jumbo crab cakes and it was phenomenal. Everyone around me said the same about their meal. The green goddess dressing is truly unique and delicious. Will be going back on every special occasion that I can.

This is a nice, traditional kind of place with a nice bar. The food is good but you will dig deep into your wallet to pay for a dinner for two with cocktails (perhaps $150 to $200). Our plan is the happy hour specials. Cocktails and appetizers at half price until 6PM. Great adult beverages and a shrimp cocktail that will be sure to please for the happy hour price of only $7. We usually have drinks, the shrimp cocktail, escargot and the baked Bree appetizers. Along with a couple of Manhattans and we are satiated. Weekends are very busy so make reservations, plan on being early or waiting.

I have been going to Sperry's for a significant amount of my special occasion dinners and they are nothing short of amazing......from the rustic ambiance to the top class customer service, they fire on all 8 cylinders. To start, my wife and I go there and order the Escargot and squeeze a considerable amount of fresh lemons on them with salt. We then eat the delicious earth creatures with bread. Ive had better Escargot in my day, but for Tennessee, these do just fine. After our Escargot, we hit the salad bar. Its smaller than other restaurant salad bars, but they have all the best ingredients you would want (including excellent quality cucumbers, fresh hard boiled eggs, pickled okra, and amazingly tasty bacon bits to name a few). The salad dressings are all in store made and I am in love with their old fashioned blue cheese, which is a tart blue cheese dressing.....never had anything like it. For our entree, we usually split the New York Strip and get it blackened. Ive had this dish at least 10 times in the last year and its always juicy, perfectly cooked, and extremely decadent. Ive also had the prime rib and filet...all excellent choices. Ive visited Ruth Kris, Morton's, Flemings, and Stoney River and the steak here easily is in the upper echelon. If you want to finish the night with a bloated stomach, but happy taste buds...get a bananas foster. They cook it in front of your table and the flames get nice and hot! We always request "Carlo" to be our server...he is the absolute best!

My palate can best be described as simply... ' white trash ' ... I consider krystals and Fat Mo's to be delicacies... I love to burn my frozen pizzas and drink cheap beer while eating them... I eat beef sticks and cheese purchased at a local gas station, ALMOST, everyday for lunch... And, when it's not that, it's a bag of pork rinds... So, when the gf's parents told me they were taking me to Sperry's for my birthday dinner, and I looked at the menu online, I first had to be resuscitated due to the prices and then had to figure out what IO was going to order, because everything sounded so fancypants and bougie.... Then I saw bleu cheese and steak in a cool combination and said SOLD!!!! .... I didn't know what to wear to a fancypants place like this... I usually wear sleeveless shirts and shorts and sandals.... or some caricature shirt and some jeans and a baseball hat... So, I kinda/sorta compromised and went with jeans and a nice shirt and tie.... They sat us by a fire and i immediately started sweating.... not the heat, but my antibacterial gel in my pockets... I had just read it was flammable near an open flame... Thats all I needed... Me to pronounce escargot - ' es car gots ' and then have my pants be set on fire, due to flammable anti bacterial gel, to really win over the gf's parents... Luckily, it didn't spontaneously combust... The place is cool looking... I mean, I'm all about being a man and this looked like a place that sophisticated lumberjacks and woodsmen would have gone to after a hard day of hunting or cutting trees down to sip on some brandy while listening to sinatra and talking about hot chicks, weapons and bigfoot and meat.... and maybe some bottle rocket conversations as well... They have a salad bar and really I dont know how anyone can complain... It's got lettuce, dressings, croutons, cheese and..... wait for it.... wait for it.... cottage cheese and bacon.... Someone contact guiness.... And then contact guinness ( i mispelled it once, but dont know which one and I'm too lazy to go back to search and correct, so deal with it )) for the best salad bar EVER... if it had ham bits, it would have been heaven on earth.... like, belinda carlisle would have been contacted to clarify what she meant with her hit song and she would have said ' a place that served cottage cheese, ham bits and bacon on their salad bar ' .... I got the salad bar, then my crab cakes... which, are right up there... - like 1B to hushpuppies 1A - on my seafood horseshit food list.... They were excellent... The Bleu Cheese stuffed steak was awesome... the brownie was awesome and our server, kimberly, was awesome.... I ate so much food that at one point I was for sure I was having a heart attack... turns out, it was just a fat ass attack and because I was hot and worried about making a good impression on the future in laws and my soon to be exploded anti bacterial hand gel in my pocket, it was combining with a panic attack.... I'm still trying to work off the calories at the gym and I'm pretty sure if you were to test my sweat that I'm still exuding, you'd find traces of cottage cheese, bleu cheese and brownie.... It was all worth it and definitely worth the price.... Kimberly, if you can request her, was the absolute best waitress/server I've ever had the pleasure of having attend to me... She even brought over a free snail to try to eat for free... Let me explain.... The gf wanted to try escargot, but didn't wanna pay for the whole plate, so kimberly hooked us up with one escargot... I was going to try it, but then looked and it resembled an alien embryo from the movie ' Aliens ' mixed with a dead cow eye we all have dissected in biology class... But!!!! the girlfriend liked it and I just gave myself a high five for not eating anything that looked like some booger baby.... Anyways... Sperry's is awesome... Give it a try...

Place has good reputation, but very average! I travel a lot and eat at many fine steakhouses. Maybe this is what Tennessee's best is! Better steaks in the local supermarket, save your money, go somewhere else!!

Awesome place! Reminded me of an old timey Chicago steakhouse. The salad bar was great and the homemade dressings sealed the deal. My blackened ribeye was cooked perfectly and the loaded baked potato was large and plentiful. They had a gluten free menu as well that was a nice touch as my wife is gluten free. The server Carlo was awesome and never rushed us. Definitely coming back. The ambience plus the great steaks make Sperry's one if a kind.

I ate Sperry's with some business colleagues. The service was great and atmosphere was old school elegant and dim lighting. I had my traditional Filet Mignon medium and twice baked potato and it was delicious.

I am always so let down by Sperry's, an old men's steakhouse that always misses the mark. For a high end spot, their sides are weak and they lack things like espresso that to of a high end meal well. Ii also seem to not feel so great almost every time I eat here on business. Stoney river is typically better for a higher end steakhouse in cool springs.

As I've said before, friends there's a reason this place has been in business since 1974- consistent quality

There should be a better way to say they have a Salad Bar! This isn't Shoney's, Kroger, or Bonanza/Ponderosa. I suggest they call their salad prep station a Fresh Crisp Salad Variety Show with great appearances by Crisp Lettuces, Fresh Clean Veggies, with cameos by the freshly made Croutons, and a host of other great toppings with Special Appearances freshly made Dressings that incredible. All the dressings deserve Tonys, Oscars, and Grammys. I always intend to order something other than the Bacon Wrapped Filet and Lobster! However, when I open my mouth to order from any of their top notch servers my lips betray my intentions and order the same ole same ole. It's okay with me! For that special occasion you can have a private dining room. I have the hope of having their smallest private dining room with 7 of my closet dudes around the table, next to the fireplace, with the cool man art on the wall and eat a ton of carne. Maybe someday!

If there was ever a mistake I made with this restaurant, it was not coming often enough. Of course, that may be part of the reason it has become our place for special occasions. Most recently, it was the Valentine's Day dinner for my wife and I, and they didn't disappoint. On her plate the steak was cooked to absolute perfection, and the only way to describe the lobster is "succulent". For a change, I tried the grilled quail, and it was the best quail I ever had, though that it is a small frame of reference. The next visit I will go back to the filet. It is just that good. Now, I need to formulate a new special occasion to get there sooner.

Went for the first time on Christmas, for dinner. Food was really good quality and taste was spot on. Service was a little slow but it was a busy night. I didn't try the salad bar because there was a long line; however, my Caesar salad hit the spot. For dessert we had the bananas foster made table side. I will probably return to try for another experience.

Looked at the prior reviews and thought why not. Conrad was our server and did an excellent job thru the night w our party of seven. I had the scallops for an app and these were the best i ever had. Then a filet stuffed w blue cheese was tremendous as well. Topped it off with the carrot cake. Omg was it great as well.

Excellent experience. We had crab cakes, filet, and don't miss the twice baked potato. Tuesday was half off bottles of wine, so bring plenty of friends.

The quintessential old-school good-old-boy dimly-light insider's club steakhouse. Nice steaks, great salad bar, and everything else is a la carte so you can have just the experience you wish. Sperry's is not cheap, but the experience isn't cheap, either. Everything they do is first class. If you are a wine lover, you're in the right place. If you're not, you can still enjoy a great meal and you'll be even happier when the check comes. They are offering Sunday brunch these days, and the prices at brunch at very reasonable so absolutely check that out - they make a great Eggs Benedict. Sperry's is locally owned and they are some of the nicest people you'll find anywhere who genuinely give back to their community. If it's a special occasion, go try them out. You'll thank me later.

Sperry's - both locations - is the consummate grand steak house. The decor reminds me of Frank Sinatra, and creates the atmosphere for a very special evening. I have enjoyed several business dinners here, and the experience is consistently good. From the friendly and prompt service at the bar before dinner to the attentive and professional wait staff, patrons are well cared for. The Prince William filet stuffed with blue cheese is to die for. Last week I had a NY Strip, perfectly prepared, accompanied by their famous salad bar and sauteed mushrooms. We chose a Malbec from the wine list to accompany our meal - I am embarrassed to admit I don't remember what it was. But it was good. When in Nashville, bypass the national chains and give Sperry's a try. You'll be glad you did.

Not a bad fucking meal when you consider the location... Valentine's Day. Stuck at work... holy shit! Boss lets me off early. I actually CAN take my wife out. Too late to make reservations... who does walk-ins that isn't gonna be stupid busy? Positive: +Not a bad fucking steak +Good atmosphere +++Able to get a last second meal at something other than a national chain on Valentine's Negative: -Plenty of high school employees. Bottom Line: Despite the high school employees, Valentine's was a success. The kids gotta learn SOMEWHERE though and Sperry's doesn't exactly charge an arm and a leg so it can be overlooked. I'll be back.

Great Salad Bar. Sunday night all wine is 1/2 off! Some of the best Prime Rib ever. Desserts, will they are great!

I hear the steaks are wonderful, but the brunch...not so much. I settled for something on the menu - nothing looked good. I should have stuck with my intuition and left before ordering. And note to self...don't take kids. Nothing on the kids menu is appealing - and the staff doesn't seem to want them there anyway.

Being told by the locals Sperrys is the ultimate steakhouse, i just had to try it out. Upon entering the bar area i was pleasantly surprised with its very "old English" feel. However that is all the good i have to say. The staff are inattentive, and could not care less about you I think the fact that there is a salad bar, makes this establishment feel like a cheap Chinese eat all you can place!, and you can see the kitchen while making a plate. The salad bar was a total mess, and food had been left all over the floor, with salad dressing dripped all over the place. The wine list is outrageous! way over priced, so if you accept this as the ultimate steakhouse, you may also enjoy visiting the Golden Coral across the street

I have been to Sperry's once before when I visited my family in Franklin. I enjoyed it the first time, but I did not have the same experience on visit #2. It started off with a server who thought he was better than all of us because he worked at this place???? We ordered wine and an appetizer plate. I have to admit, that the crab cakes were outstanding defiantly the highlight of the night. Next is where it goes down hill. My brother, found a bug crawling around on his shrimp cocktail. The next scary thing is the salad bar. The salad bar is situated directly next to the grill. The hood of the grill was dripping dirty grease onto the ledge of the salad bar and some of the dirty grease could be seen on the crushed ice. I was a little disgusted, but made a nice looking salad. When I got back to the table, I found a long curly black hair in the salad. I think I'm done with salad bars. The main course was Halibut Oskar, which is halibut with crab and a hallandaise sauce. The meal was looked nice until i took the first bite. The halibut was very dry and over cooked. The server said that Halibut was one of the most popular meals. They overcooked the most popular dish???? The cream spinach was good I can't complain. The carrot cake for desert was good. I do not think that I will be returning to Sperry's Its very expensive but not worth it... Our bill for 12 was almost $1200????

This is a solid, basic steakhouse option if you're in Franklin. The steaks are quite good. The salad bar everyone seems to be raving about it very average with no ingredients outside what you would expect at a typical salad bar. Entrees are a la carte, so you would be best served to order one or 2. While they do microwave the sides to warm them up, they taste fine. Service was attentive. Dessert was good, though again, somewhat average. In short, there isn't much to dislike about this place, but there isn't anything to really love, either.

When it comes to great food, at a price that reflects the level of quality that you get... I can think of no better restaurant than Sperry's. Granted this place, at least to me, seems to be decorated for a by gone decade of steakhouses, the food here is still amazing and ever changing. On my most recent visit, I had their seared tuna, which came with Ginger and Wasabi, as well as a tasty dipping sauce. It tasted superb and my salad was also very tasty. In the few times I have gone to Sperry's I have not once had a bad meal and I have always found the waitstaff polite and helpful. As for dessert, I can't for the life of me remember what I had, but I know I had the caramel sauce from one dessert poured on the ice cream that was another dessert. The combination was quite tasty, and I would gladly order it again if it was available to order on the menu itself. Also for another trip, I want to try their specialty of the house... bananas foster, which are made table side and make for quite the show.

Went with a group and sat in a private room for a TV event. The staff was very accommodating with the reservation and stayed past closing to take care of us. The service was very good as well. I also thought that a 15$ corkage fee was very fair and I really appreciate that. The smoked salmon appetizer was very good. Caesar salad was average. I had the side dish of asparagus which was quite good and the ribeye steak from the menu. Here's the bottom line... The place is fine and many of the food items were fine, but the steak really wasn't good and there was just nothing that made you really excited to eat. When I pay $35 for a steak and everything else ala carte in addition, I'd like to think it is going to be better than average. I buy $9 steaks at Harris Teeter all the time and fix them on my gas grill and they are 100% better than what I paid $35 for last night. The meat was full of gristle and was really greasy. When I go to a steak house I expect a steak that will knock my sock off. This steak didn't measure up to grocery store quality and that is a problem for me.

I love a great meal and this food is delicious, but you are paying for the atmosphere. A 1970's style steak house. Great for a date. Wait staff is well trained and attentive.

Spectacular steak. Perfection. Atmosphere was warm, cozy, aesthetically a perfect complement to the menu. Salad bar? Yeah, erm, I should have chosen the caesar salad. Next time. I'm not a gal who typically wants a massive meal, so I didn't order sides or dessert. I'd love to try their seafood and sides. Next time.

This is a classic old school steak house. I've been to the Franklin location a couple of times during the holidays and the food has been excellent. They have done a great job a recreating the feel of the Belle Mead location as well, a nice classy relaxing environment. The steaks are of superb quality and cooked perfectly. I do recommend the 8 oz. center cut filet over the 6 oz. bacon-wrapped. The small filet is good but nowhere near the quality of the center cut. (I guess that's why the 8 oz. costs $6 more.) The sides have been good and large enough to share among three or four people. I've never had a problem with service at the either the Franklin or Belle Mead locations. It's always been prompt, courteous and helpful. I can't speak to the desserts, always to full after a juicy steak!

The staff at Sperry's always go above and beyond and make our dining experience even more enjoyable. The food is excellent and the salad bar is the best in town! Don't think Sperry's is too fancy... and check out happy hour at the bar!

We had read reviews of Sperry's and decided to go. From the outside it looks like a small steakhouse, but on the inside it has a feel of a classic vintage restaurant. It has a great stone fireplace, a salad bar comes with, and the steaks were possibly the best I've ever had. Everything is la carte so it gets pricey, but I could not complain as the food is incredible.

3.5 stars. The fiance and I ventured out to Sperry's due to a Living Social deal for Sunday brunch. First thing we noticed upon entry is how incredibly dark it was in there! I felt immediately like we'd entered a British pub/smoking lounge-from the portraits of old colonels to the patterned carpets. But, I digress. We were promptly seated for our reservation, even though it was on Mother's day and they were busy! Our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive. I ordered Belgian waffles (delightfully fluffy with a touch of vanilla) covered with bananas, strawberries, pecans, and creme fraiche and he ordered steak eggs benedict (also very delicious). We loved the mimosas and the doughnuts that our waitress had a very easy time of talking us into getting. I thought the food was great, at least for brunch. I haven't tried any of their other food, but from looking over the menu it seemed a little pretentious for what I'd expect. I'd be willing to come back for brunch if we were in the area-the food was really great-but the knock in the star rating is mainly due to the atmosphere feeling stale enough to dampen the experience.

Sperry's is the epitome of a classic American steakhouse... both in cuisine and ambiance. It's got an old rat pack era vibe and I half expect to see men donning three piece suits, smoking cigars and women with crinolines, petticoats, bows, lace and short hand gloves... but maybe that's just my wishful thinking :) I'm particularly fond of their giant stone fireplace and the accompanying bar area and that's generally where I choose to dine when visiting. Their food is consistently delicious... starting with their mouthwatering Escargot! If you've never tried this delicious, unusual, don't think too much about it- just eat, delight... you'll thank me (if you like garlic and butter... because that's it's general flavor). Moving along to their succulent ribeye... not as perfect as the Prime Ribeyes I love... but well marbled and exceptionally prepared. I think the highlight, however, is their desert and that's what I visit most often for... Banana's Foster. Prepared table-side... heavenly. If you've never "experienced" this dessert before (and I do mean experience... it's a show!), then at 5pm this evening I expect you to be at Sperry's.... waiting! Yes, it's THAT good. As for their wine... I used to count Sperry's as my favorite restaurant and that was partly due to them having my FAVORITE (never seen sold by the glass anywhere OTHER than Sperry's) Cabernet.... Sequoia Grove. It was pricey at $14 a glass... but it made my meal complete! Sadly, the no longer have it and I have to admit my visits have been less frequent because of it (it's why I didn't give them the full 5 stars), but still.... their wine list is better than average. If you're looking for a romantic, dark, vintage, quality restaurant experience with consistently good food, heaven on earth desserts and thoughtful service... Sperry's is it. You owe it to yourself to at least pay it a visit... maybe just go for that table flamed bananas foster I mentioned and a glass of wine... you'll be really glad you did!

This is classic steakhouse at it's best. The atmosphere in this location is just like the original location. You go in the doors of a strip center space and are immediately transported somewhere else in time. Service is top notch from the management down. The food is excellent. Steaks are always good. Frites are fun. And the small limited salad bar is among the best anywhere. What is on it is top quality and chilled to perfection including the plates. It has great ambiance and is also romantic. Perfect place to celebrate special occassions. Not cheap but worth it.

I was Pretty disappointed with my experience here. I am not a real fan of steak houses to begin with, but Sperry's was on the low end of that spectrum. There is nothing about this place that says, that dinner was worth $140.00. Even if I cast aside the fact that my steak that I ordered "as rare as you can make it" showed up about medium, the plate was just boring. The asparagus may as well have come from a can and my Girlfriends salmon, cooked correctly, was about the same. I hate to say it but this nearly Ruby Tuesday quality food at Ruth Chris prices. Maybe it was an off night, I am just saying.

Great decor for a "strip mall" location. Walk inside and you are taken into another world. Waitstaff did a great job all night from seating us to keeping our drinks filled. Food was very good. I had the Shrimp and grits that were done to perfection. Small on the portions though. Wife had a nice Filet with shrimp, also done very well. What knocked my socks off was the small yet very fresh and tasty salad bar. The Roasted Garlic dressing is out of this world. I will be back the next time we are in the cool springs area.

After being a long-time, "happy," patron of Stoney river, we decided to give Sperry's a try for a graduation celebration. Reviews were read, menus analyzed, and opinions asked, so we gave it a try. Okay, so the decor and ambience were very on key; dark, rich woods, classical paintings, soft lighting. However, as soon as I sat down, I received some serious judgement from the waiter for asking if a drink menu was available. Now I am not a sophisticated restaurant reviewer, but asking for a drink menu when I'm probably going to spend a substantial amount of money can't be that much of a travesty. Anyways, being reminded that a salad bar isn't considered an appetizer, when I didn't even ask and I was having a conversation with my boyfriend, was like reminding me that brakes stop moving vehicles. Moving on, I ordered a filet, medium. It had.a nice sear, maybe too nice, because my $42 filet was chilled on the inside. I only received 1 crab cake, when the menu "mentioned" two. My baked potato was also microwaved, because I watched it occur via the open kitchen over the salad bar. Oh, my vodka and sparking water lacked vodka, but there was a lime! Overall, it sucked. I felt like an errant child, when I'm a polite, educated, PATRON. Waste of money, not going back.

I used to love Sperry's, but my feelings changed when my friend and I went one weeknight to dine. We were seated right away, but were neglected by servers and bartenders. Two tables nearby (that got sat after us) were greeted, got their first round of drinks, AND made their food orders -- we waited approximately 7-10 minutes and were never greeted... so we left. No one said a word as we walked out. I could understand if it were a busy night - but it most certainly wasn't. I wrote an email to the restaurant about the experience but got no response. It's a shame, too... great food - bad service! I'll be frequenting Stoney River more often!

Our new restaurant. The manager Keith, severs Jeremy, Sam, and Pamela are phenomenal at their respective trades. The owner Al and his assistant Liz are fantastic. The food is superb, and you will never have to look around for somebody to fill your glass. The atmosphere is very intimate, and the portion sizes ample. There is really no reason to want to eat dinner or Sunday Brunch anywhere else, especially if you live in the area. You must try their happy hour. My only regret, is not finding this place 4 years ago when I moved here.

We came to Sperry's with a large party of 8 people and had our expectations set high--not only by our friends who made the reservation, but also by the reviews I saw on YELP. I kept reading about the salad bar being so great, but I'm really not that into salad bars in highend steakhouses, not to mention that it wasn't anything special (yes, the dressings are made in house and the bacon is REAL bacon, but a green goddess dressing should not be neon green)!!! Everyone had steak (differing cuts) and while the filet with the bacon wrap ($28/6oz) was tasty, it was closer to medium than the medium rare I ordered, and my husband's Ribeye ($32/14oz), was overcooked and chewy. Almost everyone's steaks were a tad more done than ordered, and it seemed rediculous to have them take them back. Too expensive for what you get.

My husband and I were staying in the Nashville area, and on a Friday night walked into this Sperry's. We were both surprised to see how empty it was on a Friday evening at 8:00 PM...Maybe people in Tennessee eat really early? Either way we were able to get a table very quickly. Our Server was nice, but disappeared for some time before coming back to take our order. My husband and I both ordered the Rib eye (one blackened, and one grilled), he ordered the wedge salad, and I went for the salad bar. The salad I created was pretty good, but their salad bar area left much to be desired. First and foremost it was VERY poorly lit. There was no overhead lighting, and instead the only light was that coming from the kitchen (located behind the bar, and some dinky blue rope light they had wrapped around a brass pole (tacky!). The lack of light probably contributed to the fact that the bar area was super messy, there were bits of tomatoes mixed with the mushroom, cheese sprinkled everywhere, bacon and vegetables had fallen into the dressings. It just looked horrible. Also, half the toppings were missing tongs and serving spoons, so this meant that people probably were using the same tong to get into multiple toppings (this should be a warning for people with food allergies). For a place where the steaks are between 27-40$ a piece, I would have expected that their salad station would have been in better order! As for the steaks, both my steak and the husband's were perfectly cooked. They did not require any additional condiments, and were buttery and tender. Our waiter did pass by the table five minutes after serving the steaks to verify that the steaks were cooked properly. However, there was no discernible difference between the blackened and the grilled steak. So if you are partial to blackened steaks...maybe it's not worth the extra dollar at this establishment. The bottom of the menu states that all steaks come with the house bread and choice of salad. I didn't recall actually reading that a side dish was included. So my husband and I were intending to share a Creamy Spinach. However when the waiter took our order, he asked what side dish I would like. I ordered the Spinach, and my husband ordered the shoe string fries. Both were excellent. Overall, We had a really good experience at Sperry's Their salad bar was a bit "meh," and because of that I would give them a 3.5 if it existed. However, the steaks were great, and the bonus of including a side dish and salad bar with the price of the steak is a steal! I think our whole bill was only 75$ (mind you we didn't have any drinks or dessert)...but that's not bad for a steak house! So I am giving them 4 stars!

Came here for a business dinner. I was not impressed with the appearance, outside or inside. Luckily, that was the worst of it. We had 2 appetizers and 4 dinners between the 4 of us, and each of us rated theirs top-notch. Orders were served promptly, and the service was flawless. The only reason not to give this place 5 stars is the storefront setting and the somewhat steep prices.

  • Flip B.

Ben going here for 35 years - still an old reliable for steaks. Tuna and seafood make the grade most nights as well. Even though full service salad bars are from a bygone era, Sperry's consistent salad cart continues to this day & it adds nicely to the meal. 2 steaks, 1 salmon & a tuna were the dinner choices in my party tonight; all meals were simply presented but exquisitely prepared. Now awaiting coffee & peppermint-stick ice cream! I'll keep returning to this fine establishment.

I just didn't think the meal was that good, and the price certainly wasn't justified. A business associate recommended this place, and I took he and his wife here. It is supposed to be a Nashville landmark, and the ambience is very nice. Very inviting. the service was good, but the food just wasn't remarkable. The steak was cooked to my liking (medium plus) yet it had very little flavor. This sides weren't very flavorful either. For the money, go to Ruths Chris.

  • Howard L.

Disgusting. They microwave their side dishes (you can watch from the salad bar if you are so inclined), our steaks were not properly cooked (over, under, everywhere but on the money), salad bar straight from Shoney's (including the cheap beige buckets that everything is slopped into) and they charge top dollar for their food. Party of six with a 250 dollar bill and nobody was happy with their food. Also, I don't know if it was just that night, but the place was crawling with infants and their parents unsuccessfully dealing with the buffet and the whole concept of queuing. It was not pleasant. Definitely will not be back ever.

  • Chip G.

Salad bar was nice and fresh (and clean), crab cakes were fantastic, and the stuffed mushrooms were very good as well. I had the 6oz filet ordered medium but it came more towards medium well. Still, it was tender and flavorful so I ate it anyway. I had brussel sprouts as a side item and they were exceptional (they won't convert any haters but if you already like brussel sprouts you'll love these). The service was spot on; available when there was a need but not overbearing. Three in my party had desert (carrot cake) and they raved about. One serving could have fed all of us and a few at the next table. Monster portions of cake.

I ate here the first time the other night after growing up in the Area! It was top notch, think slightly casual, upscale steak house (like a Morton's with a salad bar.) Dark men's club kind of feel, but yet kid friendly and inviting. Highly recommended. Wine list to die for.
