If you live in Cookeville, Stroud's is likely the best BBQ in town, by far. However, if you've eaten BBQ throughout the South Stroud's is average. This location, on the other hand, is a gold mine. If you come between 11-2 the drive through seems to match the traffic you'd find at McDonald's. It's insane the number of people that come here. After eating inside (the girls who work here are very nice, helpful and friendly) we came to a few conclusions: foremost the pulled pork and pulled chicken taste great IF you douse them in BBQ sauce, otherwise the meat was fairly dry and lacked flavor. The best thing going here is value. You can find cheaper food here than Burger King. Great portions. Good value. Since we both ate meat, we can't comment on other items. But, the locals swear by the BBQ nachos and BBQ potato, the two best sellers here the cashier told us. And, don't forget the banana pudding. It rivals that at Dreamland, one of the South's most famous BBQ spots!

Traveling from Knoxville to memphis on I-40, we searched for B-B-Q on Yelp. Strouds, which is located about 5 minutes from the exit, was recommended. It is a unassuming small building with a drive thru and eat in area. Plainly put, the bbq sandwich was one of the best and most unique that I have had! What made it so good was: 1) Eastern nc style vinegar based smoked pulled pork, 2) the unexpected presence of mayonnaise on the bun, 3) dill pickles (probably mt olive brand), 4) a " slaw" mainly of fresh sliced cabbage, and 5) a kansas-like tomato based bbq sauce served on the side. This combination of styles and in the right proportions came together to produce a unique tasting bbq. My complements to the pit-master/chef who put these flavors together. A must stop!

Stroud's is a wonderful place for BBQ. On Tuesdays they have a sale on their potato meal. Only $5. We often get this on Thursdays where I work. It is my favorite BBQ place (and I'm not really a BBQ person).

Delicious barbecue! Very reasonably priced. Purchased the value pack 2 and it easily fed a family of 5 with some left over. Staff was friendly. Runs a busy drive thru but also had ~10 tables for eating in which we did. Beware, hot sauce is very hot. Has a kick to it. Only downside is it was hard to find, located behind orthodontists office. Very clean.

Love this place. Not being a local, and always looking for a good local place, I tried Stroud's . A small place with about 10 tables, the place was packed . Right up to closing time, they were full. I had the pork platter with coleslaw and beans. The coleslaw was nicely spiced with vinegar and pepper and other spices. Never had any slaw like it. The pork was great , and I had the hot sauce which you had to ask for separately. WOW !! Great ! My wife had the barbeque ham sandwich. They cover the ham with brown sugar and spices before barbequing and it turns out super. And the prices are so reasonable. A great value for a great meal.
