Healthy Meal suggestions for Logan?s Roadhouse

I have been to this location several times but it's been a few years since I have been back. So when friends had a birthday party here I was looking forward to coming back. The service was very good for a busy Saturday night and with our large party the kitchen on mis-cooked one order. Which was a shame since everything had been near perfect until that point. I still get the impression that the servers don't get enough training on what is available in the bar for draft selection. Prices seem a little high, but you get a lot for the $12 per person I paid.

Never again! The last time we went the experience was so bad my family said we were never going back. But I had a soft spot for The place because of all the diners I had enjoyed there back in the day! I was able to talk the family into another meal at Logan's and I got a lot of I told you so's! I had the fried catfish, it was awful! It tasted like it was fried in the basket with the chicken fingers. My wife's baked potato was hard in the middle and my mother in law could not eat her food because it was so over cooked. On the positive side my sons steak was good and his girlfriends club sandwich was fine, but how can you mess up a club sandwich? The manager came out and told us about all the issues in the kitchen, but really two bad experiences is enough! I guess the good old days are over?

First time visitor and found the restaurant to be a bit run down. However, our server was awesome and she made a recommendation for a spiked tea called "Tie Dye"...oh my lord...amazing! I would return for that drink alone. However, the food was just ok. Not bad, just not memorable.

Just like any other Logan's I've ever been to. Peanut shells on the floor, country music, waitresses with accents. If you're into that stuff, you'll love it! My waitress was very nice and timely. I ordered chicken tenders and they were delicious. The night before I ordered a steak, medium and it came well done. No big deal..but not quite what I ordered, it was still good. I would recommend it

Decent but nothing special. Never cared for the penuts, seems nasty with everyone dipping their grimy hands in them. Steaks are good but often over seasoned and over cooked. Service is hit or miss and because it's probably the nicest restaurant in podunk sumter it gets extremely busy and the service slows to a crawl. Go early or go late to avoid the long wait.

Food is just ok. Steak is never cooked right...ribs are okay. Service is so-so depending on the waitress.

Dirty tables, slow service, food is okay however the rolls are REAL good. I understand the whole peanut shells on the floor is what Logan's is know for but the floor was real nasty with food mixed in with the shells. The whole restaurant needs a deep cleaning.

Service here was great which is where the 4 stars I give it pretty much come from with me. The food was good but nothing was really spectacular but service goes a long way. The hostess Crystal was great, very personable and conversive even with her being busy and running around. She suggested great drinks and brought a new level of southern hospitality to this New Yorker.

Service was very friendly, this place reminded me exactly of Texas Roadhouse if you have ever been except I like the apple butter from Texas. The ribs and shrimp were pretty good, staff helped me decide what to have and I couldn't complain. It was a good experience and I would go back again if I was in the area. I will probably try something different while I am here for the week though.

Decent. Dont go if you like clean places due to the extremely dirty floors.

Liked it well enough the first time we went but each subsequent visit has gotten worse. The past couple times, the steak has been fatty and decidedly subpar. I usually get a chicken dish but they overload them with cheese and other toppings to the point where sometimes you wonder if there's even any chicken in there anywhere. I guess it's a southern thing. The salads are terrible - a buttload of flavorless iceberg lettuce with a ton of cheese and bacon bits on top. Ask for the dressing on the side unless you like your salad swimming in it. As most chain places do, they serve their red wine at room temperature which is way too warm and renders the wine flat and lifeless (red wine should be served at 60-65 degrees, I can't believe how many restaurants don't know this). May sound nitpicky or snobbish but I'm sure I am not the only one who prefers a nice red wine with a steak. No WiFi which is a big thing nowadays (we stayed at the hotel next door for two months when we moved here last year and had to eat out every night - our options were Logans, Chilis and Applebees and we chose Applebees just about every night simply because they have WiFi, since the menus are all so similar). Best thing about the place is probably the peanuts as my kids entertain themselves by throwing the shells on the floor. Also, servers have always been great, no problems there but this place has pretty much been crossed off our list because of the food.

The good...the rolls are good. The bad...pretty much everything else. Steak...tough and overcooked. It might have been medium when it left the grill but when they put it on a sizzling platter it cooked to just about well done. Baked potato...I opted for the "loaded" baked potato which was $.99 up charge. Not a lot of money, but if you're charging me for cheese and bacon bits it would be nice to get more than a couple of sprinkles of each. Salad...it was supposed to be a caesar salad...it wasn't. I'm guessing for small town America this is considered a good place...but seriously it is just pedestrian at best.

Steak was over cooked... Overall ok experience. Very pricey for the experience. Would not likely go there anytime soon.... Sorry!

Im not sure if its just this location but this steakhouse fails at their namesake... The point of visiting a steakhouse is to enjoy a well cooked, quality steak and most do a half decent job. Im not talking about Morton's or Ruth Cris, i'm talking about Texas Roadhouse and Lone Star quality at least. Logan's at least for me failed to deliver. Their prices are also a bit high for a restaurant of this quality I ordered a shooter sized desert expecting a glass like say Applebees or anther establishment of that caliber and received something much, much smaller at twice the price... Just go across the way to Outback if your looking for a well cooked steak.

Good food but a mouse ran by while we were eating here and the manager said it was part of being a roadhouse

Live the food, love the free rolls with honey cinnamon butter, and the service is usually ok. Not the best service but the food is awesome.

I think this place is pretty great. Living in NY, you don't really go to restaurants like this. Peanut shells all over the floor, sprawling spaces with tables to accommodate groups of 10+. This place is very very friendly and the service we had was impeccable. Aside from one waitress wearing her contaminated stethoscope out (from a previous job I presume) (we were eating dinner with a specialty diseases doctor), it was a great experience. I got the steak salad and everyone else got the country fried steak. We got the fried mushrooms, the friend onions, and all of them were mouth-watering, heart-attack inducing, delciousness. :) I love this place!!

The staff was very pleasant and was quick to seat us and take our orders. Drinks were reasonably priced and arrived quickly after ordering. The seating areas were a little cramped so I would suggest that if you have a large party, opt for pushing tables together versus opting for the larger corner booth. The steak was cooked exactly to order and the side dishes were delicious. This location was great if you are perfectly fine with eating a good tasting, reasonably priced, chain restaurant steak dinner.

The newest addition to Sumter's array of chain restaurants is Logan's Roadhouse. Competition couldn't be more fierce with Logan's, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, IHOP, and Quizno's all located within 1,000 FT of each other in an otherwise non-congested area. But, Logan's seems to win that competition every night. Since they opened in November of 2006, the parking lot remains full, and usually spills over into a grass field next to the restaurant. It's one of those "eat peanuts and throw them on the floor" type restaurants. Unlimited peanuts from the second you walk through the door. Even if you have to wait 45 minutes for a table, you can snack on peanuts while you wait. The steaks are great, and prices fair. The entire kitchen area can be seen through plate glass, and you can watch everyone's food cook if you wish. The place is packed at all hours, so it makes for a fun atmosphere.

It is okay, but nothing special. The food and service are sub-par and I would rather eat elsewhere.

Your typical "throw the peanut shells on the floor" steakhouse. Friendly staff and prompt service. Definitely try the ribs--meat fell off the bone...very good. Went on a week night--no wait at all.

Great food and service here. My only complaint would be that my steak was med-rare instead of the well done that I requested.

Our favorite dining trough when passing through Sumter returning from those Carolina games. Best honey dripped rolls anywhere. Consistently good eats in a casual environment. Believe this will be a growing chain.

We've been here numerous times, and although the service is hit or miss, the food is spot on. We normally get the Onions Brewsky to share and an extra side salad because we tend to fill up on the yummy rolls before the food even arrives. We love the Onions Brewsky but are quite satisfied with other items on the menu also. The Roadhouse Teas are delicious and potent, and so very worth trying.

Went for lunch the other day with a large group. First off, at the front door, two waitresses were arguing. They sure didn't stop when I rolled up. I was tempted to hang out and watch if a fight broke out. It didn't, so I went in. Found my group, ordered my drink. Halfway thru my drink, I see stuff floating in the glass. WTF? Looks like someone put BUTTER in my glass, or they didn't wash it good enough, but how the hell do you miss a big glob of butter inside the glass when you pour a drink? Nice! (Not really). The waitress didn't act shocked at all when I pointed it out. She just took it away and got me a new beverage. Then it's time for the food. Honestly, the lunch menu didn't seem exciting. We had approx. 15 in our group, and 11 of us got served. About 10 minutes later, the other four got their food. One order wasn't right. All in all a pretty crappy lunch. Would have been better if the ladies out front started fighting. Food was pretty bland also. It shocks me that others really really like this place, but to each their own, yeah?

Hand cut/trimmed steaks. I would recommend the ribeye and loaded baked potato. Pass on the fried green tomatoes.

Of the franchised restaurants out there focusing on steaks, Logan's is usually a cut above the rest. They use a higher quality beef compared to some of the other places and usually have someone back there working the grill that actually knows what 'medium' means (pink, not bloody). And for some reason, no matter where we're at, the salads that come with our meals are always amazing. Prices are moderate (around $40 with tip for my wife, daughter, and I) and of course my daughter loves throwing the peanuts down. It's usually a good time for us all.

For food it is a very good place to eat in sumter. I have gone a few times and the service has been so so. They have hired new people since then. Their mesquite shrimp, super nachos and The Logan steak are the best meals off the menu and you cant forget the rolls. Dont be surprised if you ask for a to go box cuz you cant finish your meal. The meal is worth the price.
