Yup, this place is the real deal. Hands down, this has to be the best Mexican food in the area. The burrito was amazing and the chicken tacos are very tasty. Their hot sauce is off the hook! Yummy chips and salsa, too. Our waitress was attentive and wore a big smile the entire time we were there. We will definitely return!

I would come here for the table side guacamole alone. It is incredible! The food is delicious and the pricing is definitely fair. The personnel are friendly and helpful. I also like that it's a quaint setting. Definitely recommend.

Great little place in a beautiful neighborhood. The food is always fresh and delicious. The customer service is friendly and tentative. Always a pleasure eating there.

Wow talk about a major disappointment. First off the dinning area is tiny maybe 25 people can fit in here max which in turns leaves zero room to move around. I was seated behind the door on a small table for two, so every time the door open it would almost hit me or my table. It took more than 45 min for our food, that was not what we ordered! I can say that we weren't the only ones who were disappointed. At least two other groups in the restaurant were upset with the poor service and quality of food. Bypass Bertos and go to La Hacienda.

The foods not horrible but the service is the worst I've experienced in this country! We were given what we didn't order, then when we asked for our correct order we were given /$"$, no joke we got yelled at by the chef and the waitress chose to ignore us. I've never left a restaurant without leaving a tip but there's a first for everything. Such a nice development but stay away from this place!!!

My husband and I came to this area to look at houses, love the quaint Southern neighborhood and Bertos is a gem!! Had a Perfect Patron Margarita and it was one of the best I've had since leaving California 2 years ago. My husband had the Bertos Special and it was more food than one could eat!! Service was amazing and fast. We asked for more tortillas and they were back in minutes! Love it and will be back again!!!

My husband and I have eaten in and have taken out from Berto's. Each time we were very happy with our meal. Our order was taken promptly. We enjoyed nachos with salsa at the table while waiting for our meal. The portions were large. The food was very fresh. We have had chilies rellenos, burritos and the quesadillas. All very good and worthy of a visit. We hear the margaritas are fabulous and will try that with the table side guacamole next time. We will definitely be back again.

The food was good, not great but satisfying. The owner, incredibly and shockingly rude. With three televisions going simultaneously in a small area, each with a different program playing, and only we two customers dining, we politely asked our waitress if the sound could be lowered near where we sat. She politely obliged. Suddenly, another nearby tv began blasting to the point where we could not hold a conversation. When we asked if it could be lowered to its former volume, Berto, the owner, came at us, yelling that he can't be expected to please each customer. I reminded him that only we were there. No. And that's it. Lots of Tex-Mex eateries around. Find one that serves good food and likes its customers more than its tv programs. For this first time diner, it was also the last.

The nachos are good. The table side guacamole is where it's at though! I've tried a few other things on the menu and they were ok. It's hard to find a good Mexican food place in this area. We dine here a couple times a month. Service has always been great.

I want to write a good review, but I can't... Food was quite subpar. You can see it has better quality than most Mexican restaurants but the taste simply wasn't there. Service was alright but could be much better. The atmosphere inside is pretty cramped and feels uncomfortable and there were only 2 tables seated inside. The next visit will have me sitting outside.

if i could give zero stars to this restaurant, i would! i live in this neighborhood and frequented it for the table side guacamole and chips when it first opened. about three years ago, i made my last visit to the place and vowed never to return. a friend, my four year old daughter and i went in for dinner on a very busy night. trying to be patient, we waited 50 minutes for food that never came and drinks that we waited 30 minutes for. as we watched other tables that came in after us get their food after thirty minutes or so the wait staff basically passed us by and we decided to leave.

Have their table-side made guacamole, with their fresh made tortilla chips, great way to start. We love to split the fajitas, and enjoy the outside. Wish I could recommend their margarita's, but they are too sweet for me (a year ago they were better, not sure what happened). Family owned, fresh made, nice place.

A friend and I had the worst service ever on Saturday. When we arrived, it was fairly busy and we sat in the new side of the restaurant. The waitress took 15 minutes before ever appearing in our half of the restaurant and never approached our table, we had to flag her down. We ordered our drinks and asked for chips and salsa and it was another 15 minutes before she appeared with the drinks and we had to ask again for the chips and salsa. When we managed to flag her down again, we placed our order: two taco salads with shrimp. It was a full 50 minutes until we got our food. During these 50 minutes, we had to ask twice where our food was, and both times received an answer of "it's almost ready". Finally, 45 minutes after we ordered, we decided to take our food as take out and stood right next to the cash register for the five minutes until we finally got our food. When we did get up to the register, I could see that they had just taken the taco shells out and were just putting the shrimp on. We were offered no apology or explanation, and no discount for the terrible service.i will never go back to, even though I live in the neighborhood and it is convenient. My food was mediocre and I do not appreciate being lied to.

Awesome! The table side guacamole was the best I have had. The place is very small, but that was not a problem, it was quite cozy. I have been there twice in 10 days and will keep going back. The wait staff was very polite and quick. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and they were very good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
