Always fun. Always a great meal. Not pricey. Nicest bartenders, servers and owner anywhere. This is where we locals go. Tip: ask for the Bistro Burger (a special, not on menu). It's a huge bacon double cheeseburger with fries and an antenna of onion rings on a knife jammed thru the burger

Good for families Only two real bars in town Live music all week The food here is pretty good, about what you'd expect for a hometown pub; lots of fried or grilled fare in arge portions. The Cheeseburger club is a personal favorite, as is the black and blue burger. The beer selection is somewhat limited, but your glass won't get empty with the attentive service. It's family friendly in the restaurant area, and a good location to share a drink with a small group in the bar. It gets somewhat loud with the live music, but not obnoxiously so. What's obnoxious is the raucous karaoke. I'm a big fan of the bluegrass nights on Sundays, it's a great evening out with some good music without a huge hit on the wallet. Open mic bluegrass is on the second Sunday of the month, and is decent entertainment. Points deducted for the hours (the only bar in town closes at midnight? come on now)

I was here recently with a friend for lunch. We both got buffalo chicken wraps with curly fries and caesar salad. Everything was good. Our waitress was very nice. A solid stop We were here for trivia also recently and we tried 4 kinds of wings and 2 desserts. For wings, we liked bbq the best. The thai chili was 2nd best. Bourbon was just ok. Buffalo would be good if it actually had some sauce on it, not sure why the other 2 are coated in sauce but this one was not. Cheese sticks were good. The banana cream pie was very good. The toll house pie did not seem to have chocolate chips in it, which is weird. It did have chocolate sauce. It was ok but needs more chocolate. Trivia is pretty fun here.

My wife and I use to go here years ago when we lived in the area. We stopped in for old time sake and were blown away. The service was great and the food was awesome!

We were just there and had reservations, this was our first time here and it was Mothers Day so I expect them to be busy. We were seating and we waited 15 min for someone to atleast bring us a menu and welcome us but that didn't happen. So we just walked out very disappointed and hungry!!!!!

Our home away from home. Love the food, service is great, especially Tammy. Not many places host live bluegrass music which is on Sunday evenings. One of our favorite places.

I actually enjoy Wood River Inn for the most part. Their food is good, the prices are generally fair, and for dinner and nighttime entertainment they are great. However, my family went to eat breakfast there on Sunday after Church and my experience was very different. The breakfast is too expensive (although the portions match the price... way too much). What's worse is that when we first got seated, the waitresses were fighting over who HAD to take us and serve us (neither wanted to) and they were arguing about it right in the dining room in front of us. We will definitely not be eating breakfast in there again.

Loved this place! We walked in and was greeted right away. We chose to sit in the bar area. The Pats were playing and several people sitting at the bar were enjoying the game but they were not loud and just made it more enjoyable IMHO. Server was super quick to our table to take our orders. While there were several items I wanted to try I had to limit myself. So went with a special of fried fish sandwich and stuffies (stuffed quahogs) for an app. My friend ordered a crock of french onion soup and a salad. Soup came out piping hot and smelled so dang good! My Quahogs didn't disappoint. Generously stuffed and not lacking on chopped up clams. Perfectly moist and just what I was hoping for. The meals were next and the salad was HUGE. My fried fish sandwich was, again, just what I was hoping for. Fresh cod, perfectly beer battered and cooked to perfection. The fish was moist and not overcooked. I opted for a side of onion rings which, were nothing to write home about. Not bad but nothing show stopping. Tables had everything you could want or need on them. Malt vinegar, hot sauces, and just a few extra nice touches that you normally have to ask for.

We go there quite often. The food is always excellent and the staff actually stop and talk with you. Very friendly atmosphere whuch is why we moved to Richmond many years ago. Everything there is very good. Awsome beer selection as well.

We stopped by for our first visit the day after a big blizzard so we were pleased to see them open. The staff was friendly, the place looked inviting and there were several other patrons there for lunch, so we thought," why not?" We split an order if nachos and each had the soup du jour which was a shrimp and corn chowder. The soup, served first, was a good ( probably purchased) one but the nachos were just plain weird! Nothing fresh or homemade except the large pile of shredded lettuce covering the entire thing. Lettuce? That was a first for us. All in all, I think the chef really needs to pay attention to all of the menu item, not just the popular ones, or the specialties. Maybe even remove the 'dogs' from the menu instead of risking bad reviews from them. Nice place, nice people, bad nachos.

Sandwich was great, good beer selection, nice staff, great Sat. Night music. Better than your average pub.

Depending on what night you visit, the food here is hit or miss. I've lived in Richmond for over ten years, and Boucher's was at one time, the only game in town. Now that they've got some competition down the road a bit, they need to work on consistency. I've had really good meals here, and rather ho-hum meals at other times. The service in the bar tends to be much friendlier and attentive, as opposed to the dining room. Another reviewer talks of servers arguing over table assignment, and I concur with her, because I've witnessed this at one time too. A few people have talked about the Buffalo Wings here, and their assessment is correct. But also try the Boneless Buffalo Chicken Salad, which I think, is better than the wings. One other dish that I like here is the Stuffed Scrod they serve as a special on Friday nights. The seafood stuffing is very flavorful. One final note for the owners, you have good french fries and burgers here, but it all gets ruined by the generic ketchup you offer. Please scrap it and offer Heinz. There's a reason why they have a monopoly on the ketchup industry.

I thought that the food was abominable, but I liked the throwback atmosphere from older times...nice servers, old fashioned menu.... the bar was filled with locals...kind of heart warming. But, do not go here expecitng a gourmet meal! The breakfast just might be well worth the trip.

We had a good meal here! Waitress was very nice and attentive. The food and drinks were good. Fries like other's have said were great. The only negative thing was that it was very noisy. Maybe just the crowd?

I was recently at this restaurant for a large family gathering. The service was very nice and the food was good. Everyone was happy with their meal. They have the usual suspects (burgers, sandwiches, etc.) as well as some more substantial entrees (fish, steak, etc.). The prices were reasonable. I believe it was around $7 for a burger and $16 for the bigger entrees. Four stars because the service and food were good for the price. For five stars the food has to amaze me.

If you're down in Hope Valley and looking for some food or a place to stay- here ya go. Met for lunch and everyone was friendly. I think its a local hangout at night. Its very cozy and what you would think a Wood River Inn would look like. I saw a review on yelp that said the fries were good. YES. Crispy home fries. I had a grilled chicken burger. Nothing special. Actually it was very plain. But again I don't eat red meat or pork so not a huge selection for me, and only one veggie option. (wasn't in the mood) I also had a side salad and it was a decent size and pretty darn good! Nothing special maybe I was just really hungry. Over all you get what you pay for.

Can I give this place 0 stars? I just moved to Richmond. Literally a walk away from this place. I haven't been able to eat anything for a couple of days so I was famished and decided to try a sandwich to go. I uploaded the menu and chose on of my usual favorites, the buffalo chicken wrap. Simple to make and buffalo sauce is my kryptonite. When I opened the box and bit into my sandwich I started coughing not because I was sick but out of disgust. My wrap was swimming in buffalo. RATIOS PEOPLE. How hard is it to eff up a buffalo chicken wrap? I could have made a better one. I should have saved the 10$ because I threw it away and didn't eat any of it. Also here is an idea! Wrap the pickle up instead of just slopping it with the fries and sandwich. I couldn't even eat the fries because they were all sogged up. I definitely won't be back. In my opinion if an establishment cant even manage a simple wrap they probably just suck in general.

Get: ~fried clam strips (4 stars): very well fried, not greasy, it came in a huge pile on its plate. Fries were mediocre, but the clam strips were great. $12 Skip: ~clam cakes (3 stars): not very much clam in these dough balls. Fried well, but it was denser that I prefer. ~clam chowder (2 stars): came out lukewarm with not enough clams and too many potatoes. Wait: ~none for 4 at 1pm Wednesday. Place was rather empty with the exception of a few tables and some people at the bar, but it was 4th of July, so unsurprising. Service was nice, and food came out at a decent speed. Not a bad stop on the road.

Trivia Mondays at the Inn is a blast - prizes, 25 cent wings, and cheap beer! Decent local bands on Friday and Saturday nights. I usually try what's on the specials board.

Awesome Wings!!!! Tammy and Christina are the best servers!!!!! They treat you like queens and kings :-)))))))

  • J R.

Terrific bar food and large variety of drafts. Excellent wings, calamari, and mushroom caps. Pam and Shannon are awesome and Monday is trivia night. Great family fare as well with a wide selection of menu items. Hope Valley po' boy is worth a try and the steak sandwich was very good. Really interesting architecturally with a new addition that can accommodate larger parties. Live music on the weekends makes this a local must visit!

    (3)
  • Chris R.

Great little place for lunch or a casual dinner. The bar features numerous draft beer selections. The menu is pretty large but fairly uninspiring. It really highlights pub and comfort food - both of which I like, A LOT. Good service. Decent prices. Clean. We had clam chowder (surprisingly good); buffalo chicken fingers; and a mushroom bacon cheeseburger. All of them were good - not great - but pretty darn good.

Awesome Lobster club sandwich! Fish tacos were great as well. Get the sweet potato fries and onion rings. So happy we checked out Yelp instead of doing fast food on our drive through town. We will definitely be back for the fantastic food and excellent service!

I recently moved down to Richmond and wanted to try this place again. I have been here in the past and the food and service was ok. So I brought the family last night for dinner...and was totally disappointed. They had chicken wings on special so I ordered a dozen, they were ok but a few were cold . We ordered our food along with a kids meal which consisted of a hand full of fries and two chicken tenders...yes ...two , and with an apple juice cost more than my meal. I guess this place caters to the regulars because before we even got our food two tables that had arrived after us were almost done eating and knew the waitress very well. I ordered a chicken sandwich and when it arrived I laughed, the actual piece of chicken was a lot smaller then the roll it was served on and the bacon was soggy. I ask my waitress for a normal size of chicken which she went back to the kitchen and got for me in a few minutes...not bad, but I should of got it in the first place. My wife's meal was decent but not a very large portion for what we paid. So overall I was totally disappointed with the food here and I'm not going back ever, I actually rather just go get fast-food for a quarter of the price and way faster service.
