This place needs some Yelp love! We were on an adventure on a Sunday morning because the wait at Brickway was ridiculously long and we were hungry. Luckily we ended up at this place, and we were very happy to have stumbled upon it! Cafeteria style with plastic plates and cutlery, styrofoam cups for their shakes and juices. Lots of stews. Stewed pork ribs, stewed chicken, stewed pig's feet, Jamaican patties, fried fatback, pickled onions, pickled beets... It is an intimidating part of town to be in, but the people that work there are such sweethearts, and the clientele is charming. Everyone is "Mi amor" to the staff. That's the kind of place it is. There is a even a photo of Sheldon Whitehouse with the owner, though this is not one of those places that you go to to be seen. In summary: cheap really good creole food with nice staff in a not-so-nice part of town.

I happen to like this Pito better than the more reviewed Pito's on Cranston street. Not because of Location (both are in socio-economically disadvantaged neighborhoods); Service (both have hard working people on board); Space (this one is smaller and more cramped); or the Food (similar Dominican offerings).... It's because of the Community. I have a bottomless appetite for Interesting, Funny, and All Around Good Times and whenever I start feeling like my store of snappy, sassy comebacks for the (ahem) *well deserving* needs replenishment, I can just stand in line for a lesson from the pros (usually servers). Today's example: Server: What do you want. Regular: .... (long pause. What he wants from her isn't for sale.) Server: (Server decides to scoop up yellow rice and a pork chop.) Any sauce? Regular: .... Server: (scoops sauce) Pepsi? Regular: (whining) What... you don't remember me... I always get the same thing... I was just here yesterday.... Server: Not today, My Love. Moral of the story: Food is good, Education is priceless. Stop being scaredy cats, yelpers, and do as the wise Bob Barker said, "Come on Down!" Really, come on down. It's good and the price is right.

Great home style dominican cuisine. You see all types of ethnicities at pitos all for one reason. Its damn good! While it does take a lot for me to order dominican style food solely because I am dominican myself if I had to choose any place to go to it would be Pitos. The staff is friendly if you can speak Spanish but if you can't speak their language then you will have to settle with a staff asking you how much? Or what do you want as they do not speak great english. The only problem with this place is the decor inside it looks a little run down, they could probably invest in decor from this decade and attract more customers. Overall pitos is historic and no matter where you come from everyone knows pitos restaurant.

My ratings based on the food quality esp. For the price. Most won't be in the area but if you find yourself in the concrete desert I'd stop in here for a 5$ lunch plate salad rice and beans and a meat. It is delicious Dominican food at a reasonable price dont judge the location or venue just try it lol especially if your the type to go to mcdonalds or something discusting for lunch might as well get a plate of hot home made food

Pito's is a place that I hold near and dear to my heart. Some of my friends are afraid to go here because of the location and their perception of what they think the food is like. Let me tell you. This place is the home of soul food. I go here at least once a month for a good feed. They have cafeteria style serving so there is never a wait, unless people are in line ahead of you. Just writing this makes me crave their goat. I love the stewed meats they serve, beef, goat, ox tail, pork, chicken, you name it. All the food is absolutely delicious soul food. Pito's ins't the prettiest place but they have been in business for at least 30 years and they have not changed. That has to say something about how they are doing things. Treat yourself to a delicious filling meal. I have never left hungry.
