This restaurant is very dark and over priced. The restaurant was empty and we were seated at the far back. The food looked ok but lacked flavor. Be careful of the water. Ours had bugs in it. I ordered tea and the water was cold. If you are visiting Great Wolf Lodge, take off the wrist band before dining at this restaurant because they expect you to tip them more than the locals would. Ashley was our waiter. She walked away before we were able to complete our order. She was cold and mechanical. At the end of the meal, Ashley walked away from us and shook her head. Her manager explained that she was not happy with the tip. Needless to say, it was my son's birthday and we got better service and dessert at Friendly's.

Cozy. Friendly staff. Very small salad bar which cost extra. Food was ok. Not a place I would return to.

Unfortunately in the Poconos we are extremely limited when it comes to seafood restaurants. Smugglers Cove gets about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, and that's being pretty generous. The food is not particularly dressed up or seasoned, but it's ok and is a decent meal. However, if you do go the seafood and lobster bisques are homemade and are extremely delicious. They also have a large salad bar which people around here seem to go crazy about. The atmosphere is kind of dark and could do with an updating, I prefer to eat in the bar area where there are windows. Overall, it's not a bad place to go, the food isn't bad nor is it spectacular...it's just food, but it will do the trick if you have a craving for seafood, it is fresh at least.

Gotta try the Escargo mushroom! The quarter pound burger, awesome!! Grilled shrimp spectacular !! The au gratin potatoes r ok though. Service was great! Definitely come back here when I come back for more snowboarding!

I've been here more times than I can count. The food is always good, as is the service. It's nothing special, but can always be counted on for a good and pleasant meal.

Not so good, . . . bland food, . . . not so great sides, . . . steer clear of the Clams Casino (YUCK!) ... never again for me! From what I understand the surf and turf with lobster tail and filet is good, . . . but I don't know. Service was TERRIBLE!! After having been there for 20 minutes at least, someone came over to take our drink order, . . . uh, we are ready to place our orders completely at this point! Everything took extremely long, and you had to ask multiple times for the waiter to remember to bring things. Wouldn't recommend!

Had a decent time at the restaurant. The spinach and crab dip with nachos was good and I enjoyed the salad bar. Only gave three stars and will have to make another attempt at dining here.

Fresh lobster, right out of the tank! Its hard to find a good restaurant in the Poconos. So we were very happy to find Smugglers Cove. Good quality seafood. Not amazing, but A-OK! And we will be back.

One of the better restaurants in the area. Great service and food! Definitely go if you are in the mood for seafood. The fresh catch meal option was inexpensive and delicious, as was the New England clam chowder. The lobster roll was my favorite and better than I ever had in Maine. It is served on a delicious baguette and a generous portion of lobster meat that tasted fresh and flavorful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Instead of 1 it, Smugglers gets a residual star because it used to be my favorite:( what happened?! Last 3 visits within several month span were awful. First it was the food , do not order the stuffed shrimp bleh. But the server was very attentive and sweet. Also everyone else enjoyed their food. Then the service was lacking. The last time I went, our server took an hour and a half to put our order in, which he had NO CLUE what mine was when I ordered it and forgot my salad:( totally not a complainer and still gave him 20% because I feel bad he couldn't possibly be receiving good tips! The Good: The Lobster Mac and Cheese. Delicious, but I wanted to die afterwards (butter, cheese, hello). Living local, my husband and I were trying to think of a place to go we don't normally frequent. A coworker of his suggested smugglers. I haven't been there in years but never had bad food. We arrived around 5 and were seated right away. Menu had changed since the last time I was there. I thought salad bar was included w entrees but I then saw it was an extra 4.00 to add on. Husband got French dip . No problems with it, but for 14.00 it was much smaller than we expected, and to only come with one side. I got the chicken franchese. Chicken was cooked well but sauce was a bit flavorless. It was more like pure butter. It was an early bird special for 14.95. I def. would not have paid more for it. Oh and they give you dinner rolls and butter. We each got one tiny roll. Decor hadn't changed since last time I was there. Could really use some updating. Place has a lot of potential, but their prices don't match what you get.

All I can say is WOW!!! Came here with my fiancé on vacation and we loved it! The food was incredible. Not sure what the other reviews were talking about. We had the Pallea, which was out of this world! We also had other things but the Pallea was worth the trip from Philly alone!

We took advantage of a great deal they had, lobster and salad bar for $20 a person. It tasted great. I really enjoyed the broiled lobster and the sides. This place is very dark but has a intimate feel to it. The service was good. There was parking and no line to sit. This is great if you want to just relax and eat some good food.

We had a long wait even thou we had reservations. There digital clock at the front desk is set 10 minutes slow, which I thought was weird. Nice atmosphere and drinks. Appetizers are quite boring and something you could get a supermarket but they are over priced so if anything, stick to the hot wings (the sauce is on the side). The entree was made well though, and the crab cakes were made well and full of lump crab meat. The side salad was a waste and something I could have bought at a supermarket. The seafood soup came in a small bowl, similar to half a cup worth. It was flavored well I will say. Our waitress was running all over the place and messed up on the bill, in my favor but I had to bring it to her attention that the entree wasn't on the bill! This place is ok but not worth an hour wait!

Go up to the Poconos couple of times a year and always eat here. I have never been disappointed. Ate here yesterday and enjoyed as usual. I had a shrimp cocktail and grilled swordfish which came with two sides. They have a nice choice of sides available. My husband had filet mignon with one side and the salad bar. Prices are reasonable, seafood was fresh, our server Cody was excellent and place has a nice atmosphere.

It was nice evening out with good service and decent food. Nothing really made the place stand out as being excellent but it was nice evening. The prices were a bit high. We would return.

We were on a family vacation in the Poconos, so we weren't going to hold back. We had our own little lobsterfest, in the form of two Brazilian Rock Lobster Tails, and a 3lb Maine Lobster. And, each entree comes with two sides. To say we were stuffed would be an understatement. The place serves fresh seafood. The locals come, and they all come with reserved tables. Smart idea.

I live nearby and it is baffling to me how this place stays in business. It is the only restaurant where I've had to send food back to the kitchen. Utter garbage. Keep out.

Really, I'd give this place 1.5 stars if I could. We got there on a non-busy Wednesday evening, and we had to wait 15 minutes for a waiter to even come to our table, and well over an hour for our food. Here's what we ordered: two burgers and fries (kids), a top sirloin, and a surf-and-turf. Nothing that took longer than 10 minutes to cook. When our food actually came, the plates were hot, but the food was not, indicating that it sat under heat lamps for a LONG time. The lemon on my husband's plate was hot, for god's sake. Really, we weren't impressed with the food at all, and it definitely wasn't worth the wait. I know it's hard to find someplace to eat in the Poconos, but we ended up wishing we'd driven the 12 minutes to Stroudsburg to eat at the Red Robin like we did last night. At least with chains you know what you're getting.

My family meets here often because we live far from each other and Smugglers is centrally located. Great for birthdays with the complimentary cake. I'd love to give a 5 but the service has been really lacking the last few visits.

  • Eddie P.

Do not eat here. We should have left as soon as we sat and saw a man asking if his table had a waiter. Took forever to even ask for our drinks. People were walking out bc they were not greeted by wait staff. Ordered salad that came after dinner. Kids meal wasn't placed so baby had to wait 10 minutes after we got our dinner. Food was horrible. Nothing fresh and the steak was like a hockey puck. It was like a comedy of errors with all tables having some issue with their orders or lack of service. Waitress took our kids meal away didn't even ask if done. Never had bread placed on table and here's the icing on the cake.... The food is expensive! Run, don't walk away from this place.

There were billboards everywhere advertising the restaurant, so I suggested a try. Well, I should've listened to the hubby when he said that there is a reason that they were advertising so heavily! There were not too many cars when we got there for lunch, so that was the first tell. The food was a mix of fair to good. I had the matey's fried basket with sweet potato fries which was ok. One of the kids had the fish and chips, with the chips being extremely crispy and good. However, my salad was kind of funny, as if the greens have been sitting in the refrigerator for a few days, with still some crisp but it was tasteless. They kept it dim inside so I kept thinking that there sure was a lot that could be hiding in there.

I've been to this seafood restaurant more than a handful of times over the course of 5 years. When I only infrequently visited the Poconos, this was the only restaurant I'd want to go to so as to avoid disappointment, but now I've started to branch out to other area restaurants and it's losing its luster. The service and food was just not great the last time I went, and it was overcrowded so the wait didn't feel justified. It's definitely a popular place to eat among locals, family-friendly, but the space is huge, with multiple rooms so you don't feel too overwhelmed by the volume of people. The food is good, but the seasoning isn't anything to sing about -- it's generous portions of food and it's fresh. Picky eaters will find something to eat here, so I'm happy with their menu options. I'm still a fan, but perhaps less likely to go here as a first choice now that I've seen what the other Poconos restaurants have to offer. Given the new development in the area and my new adventurous spirit, it may be a while before I cycle back, but we have a lot of fond memories from years of visits.

It's ok. Bar scene is a little wired. Lot of "older" singles. Closes very early like 10pm on sat and it's pretty empty.

Maybe it was due to the lack of quality food around the Pocono's area but I found the food here awesome at the time. We didn't feel like eating at Great Wolf during our family trip so we got takeout. It is less than 5 minutes away from the resort, straight up the road. The food was OK. Pretty standard fare compared to NYC but for the area, it's very good. I ordered the seared tuna, mussels, filet Mignon w/ king crab legs, crab cakes and a grilled cheese for my son. That didn't seem like too much food when I was ordering but it ended up being about 8 large container boxes of food. Once I got back to the room, I started popping open all the boxes, which didn't even fit on the table, and started devouring the tuna and steak. My 4yo son, whom should've been enjoying his grill cheese, instead wanted my king crab legs. After getting a glance from the wife, I cracked open on of the legs and extracted the 5 inch piece of meat. After chewing on it for about 5 seconds, he wanted another one and I obliged. After that, of course he wanted the last one as well. After glancing back at wife to chastise her for making me give up my prized crab, I extracted the last piece for him. At least I still had my favorite piece of all, the claw, which of course was not cracked and the shell was as hard as a rock. After some banging, stomping, cursing and ridiculing from the wife, it finally cracked open. As I was about to pop it in my mouth, I saw my son's sad puppy eyes staring at me. Of course my heart melted and I gave him that last piece as well. Ok.., it may have been sensationalized a bit but he did end up eating about 80% of the crab and only 1/4 of his grill cheese. As for the rest of the food, the filet was seasoned well and the crab cakes was virtually all lump crab meat. The caesar salads and sides were pretty pedestrian, though my 2yo daughter ate 1.5 servings of the pasta. The mussels were surprising good, especially since I did have some major issues though... Both the filet and crab cakes were supposed to come with sauces and neither of them were packed. We also didn't get the milk that I paid extra for.

The locals and people at the hotel told me that the Smugglers Cove Restaurant was the best place to get seafood in the area. So my family and I ventured there to eat. When we got there we were greeted with such ignorance. We said that we needed a table for about 5 people. She asked us if we had a reservation and my mother told them we did not. She was like oh well your going to have to wait until we have a table open for you then. I peered into the dining room and saw that there was a few tables open. We went to the bar and sat down and waited for the hostess to call our names. We waited almost an hour for a party of 5. The bar was over crowded and the service was slow. The only pro about the bar was that they had food you could eat right on the bar like cheese and crackers and salsa and chips. I thought that was a nice touch. The salsa was very spicy but since I do like some spicy food I did not think it was half bad. It needed a little bit more ingredients. So when our name was called we were seated in the middle of the restaurant which my parents requested that we sit by the wall but they let it go and we sat there anyway. When the waitress came over to our table she was very rude and ignorant. It seems people in this place like to be ignorant. My father had introduced the family to her and she was like ummm ok. She said it all rude and my father was like ok well lets order then. We ordered the special where you can pick 2 or 3 things for one entree. My fiancee got the salad bar and as did my mother. The salad bar was not all that great when my fiancee returned to the table. The dressed was sub par and a little bit to salty for my liking. After waiting a little while for our food it finally came out and I was not all that impressed with the presentation of the food. The food was not steaming when it came out. I got a rock lobster tail along with some scallops. The seafood I have to say was not as good as I thought it would be after being told it was the best seafood in the area. I usually can tell fresh from frozen and it tasted almost as if the seafood such as the scallops and my mothers coconut shrimp were previously frozen and just heated up on the grill and fryer. So would we go back here again next time we are visiting Camelback? Probably not we will drive around the area and see what else Tannersville has to offer.

OMGGGGG!!!!! This place is in the dictionary under D*I*S*G*U*S*T*I*N*G!!!!!!! i wish i would've read these reviews before i went to smugglers cove! After a loooong day of skiing & tubing all me and my 6 other family members wanted to do was enjoy a good meal, just as another review says there were advertisements everywhere for this place so it seemed like a good idea. Boy we're we WRONG!! The place must definitely be hiding other stuff bcuz it is so dark its like sitting in a closet with only the light from the outside coming thru the cracks of the door! the waitress was nice but as per the manager well his name badge should just say Hi, my name is DOUCHE BAG!! 3 orders of soggy nasty chicken fingers for my kids, 2 crab cakes that tasted like cardboard so burnt on one side a knife had to be used to cut it, anyone who's eaten crab cakes well good crab cakes, knows you dint need a knife to cut it! My husbands burger, can u say HOCKEY PUCK! And now, the best for last! My filet mignon that was supposed to be med-well.....well this is a whole other story, not a drip of juice left in this piece of meat, i mean this piece of charcoal! Hard, over cooked, burnt, nasty, dry, nooooo taste! just plain f***n disgusting!! then manager comes over and says well it was a little pink inside so that's med-well! Are you kidding me???? I've never even managed a food place and this guy didn't know s**t! couldn't tell me a thing about a good steak, especially something i dint already know! anyway, he says let me bring you a new york strip since its thinner & cooks faster now that my family is all just about done and i haven't eaten a thing yet! This guy brings me a NY strip that is yet again burnt like charcoal on the outside, yet this time its completely raw on the inside! so raw it was actually still cold!! OMFG!!! appetite completely lost and nauseous by now, basically told him to take his steaks & shove them up his u know what!!!!! like i said, one word describes the whole place..... DISGUSTING!!!!!! NEVER EVER EVER AGAINNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I had dinner here and we both loved it. The restaurant has a quaint "family" feel to it and we felt at home even though we were from out of town. It was 7 pm on a Friday night and I was expecting that we'd be waiting for a table and we'd be stuck next to a screaming two year old, but there was no wait at all and the restaurant was filled with adults enjoying quiet conversations. It's a family restaurant, so maybe we just got lucky. I was impressed to see that they had a salad bar and that the selection was head and shoulders above what you typically find at mom and pop restaurants; cucumbers, spinach, carrots, baby tomatoes, shredded cheddar, hard boiled egg, pasta salad, potato salad, chick peas, cottage cheese, beets, and several dressing choices. I could have very well been satisfied eating only the salad bar. For dinner, I had blackened salmon and my boyfriend had the grilled shrimp. I hesitated to order salmon, because I usually find it to be over done and dried out when I order it at restaurants, but they did a really good job with it here. Boyfriend loved his shrimp. Portion sizes were perfect for us, we had no leftovers but did not feel hungry. Our server was friendly and attentive and did not rush us through our meal. Price for two entrees and two fountain drinks came to $40. Not bad at all! This place is a gem. It's the kind of place you add to the itinerary of your vacation.

We used to love going to this restaurant but recently we noticed the prices are extremely high for the amount and quality of food. The size of their crab cake was 1/2 the size of the roll. The presentation was poor the French fries were mediocre. My husbands fish was very small.. Whatever happened to the old Smugglers Cove wish it would come back. We used to be regulars but the last lunch and dinner were to high in price for the food you receive. They are pricing the locals out.

Good Seafood - Bad Steak - That Simple Recommend Lobster and Calamari Filet Mignon tasted like a lower quality meat. I have never seen a place have to warn you on the menu about the fat on the prime rib....

I would come here for appetizers and stay away from the entrees. The seafood apps were good and fresh. My husband and myself had entrees that tasted bland and the scallops tasted ammoniated which is a sign of them being less than fresh. Their service was good which saves them from being completely thrown under the bus. I wouldn't come here for dinner ever again.

I have eaten here before and know the meals are very overpriced for the amount of food they serve but there aren't that many seafood places to eat. in the area. We didn't feel like a big meal so my sister and I each ordered the Gumbo, and a Lobster roll, my sisters husband ordered the salad bar and Lobster mac and cheese, The gumbo arrived at the table more gummy then gumbo it was ice cold and congealed, we asked the waitress to take it back she must have put it in the microwave for a minute because it came back better warm still but still not hot, the waitress disappeared so we ate it but there was not much in it more like soup then Gumbo, The salad bar seemed to be okay my sis's husband went back twice and enjoyed it he did like the Lobster mac and cheese but didn't seem overly enthusiastic about it. Now for the lobster rolls, I have had lobster rolls in Maine I don't know how many times so I know this was not a lobster roll. This was lobster mixed in a bowl of to much salt, with a ton of garlic with chopped celery and some bad over powering spice that left such a bad after taste that even a Pepcid didn't help. Lobster has a wonderful natural taste why overpower it all these spices. I really would think twice about going here again to eat. The service wasn't bad the waitress did come over often but it also took very very long to get each course so that is why it comes out cold it must sit in the window waiting to be served. The place is very crowded I really don't know why.

I love this place. I love that they have escargot, and I get it almost every time I go here. It's among the best escargot in the area. I have tried coconut shrimp and a few other dishes here, too, and the salad bar. I love the martini & specialty drinks, although they are a bit overpriced. Try the cheesecake here!!! It's all good here.

Terrible, confusing service that was practically nonexistent, even on a very slow day. Would've liked to try their food however the unnecessary wait for even acknowledgement from the waiter (which never happened) wasn't worth it so we went somewhere else.

Food was mediocre at best, and for the prices, I expected MUCH more. Believe the reviews on here - the menu is VERY overpriced, and the food is OKAY - nothing great. Save your money for someplace better, or catch the fish yourself - you'll be glad you did.

My dad had their Friday Night Special "Surf and Turf," which consisted of a small, dry, hard to chew piece of steak and a lobster tail - $23. My mom had the salmon, again a small portion - nothing special, was something you could easily make at home because it was just a piece of grilled salmon - $17. I had the petite cut of prime rib - $19 - which was probably the best dish out of the three. It was tender, but not well-seasoned. Each of these came with two sides, which were again, all alright, but again, nothing particularly special. It was a rather steep price for the rather mediocre food. 3 stars, because the staff was very nice. The price and the food though, sadly weren't.

Absolutely disgusting place to work. I was overworked as a busser and the waiter's constantly cheated me on tips. Being a family restaurant the head owner did whatever he wanted which included cozying up to the bar every single night and downing vodka martini after vodka martini till the bartender had to help him up after he fell down. Being a seafood restaurant in the poconos (a land-locked area) meant frozen food was constantly being defrosted and sold as fresh. Such a shame. Would never go back.

Came here today for the first time with my friend for her birthday lunch. The food did not disappoint, but the service was sub-par. It was not crowded, but it took quite some time for the waiter to come to our table and we rarely saw him after that - no pleasantries, no offers for drink refills, etc, you get the picture. Outside of that, the food was delicious. I had the lobster roll which was fabulous & my friend has the Sirloin steak blt which she enjoyed. I would try it again, but if service like this is the norm, I would not return a 3rd time.

Came for a late dinner with my family while staying at Great Wolf Lodge 7-8 minutes away. We came in at 9 pm, they serve until 10 pm and we were the only customers in the place--granted it was a Monday night. It's a decent although slightly dated family restaurant, the kind with somewhat worn vinyl seat covers in the booths. We weren't in the mood for seafood so I had the chicken parm with a side of linguini, my wife just had the salad bar, and our 8 and 10 yr old kids had hot dog and chicken fingers off the kids menu. All the food was surprisingly good--better than the decor would have indicated, and the service was pretty good. One of our kids has a gluten allergy and the kitchen obligingly warmed up some pre-cooked pasta we brought and put some marinara sauce on it. I would go back.

This place was an absolutely terrible experience. I honestly do not know where to start. First off, we were a group of college students, so they sat us in the back corner away from everybody: very rude. Then, we waited over 45 minutes between ordering and receiving our food! It was absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention, my $19 dollar piece or swordfish resembled a minuscule slice of turkey, and it did not taste like a fresh "catch of the day." I absolutely cannot believe we all paid almost $90 for our meal. I would have had better quality seafood at Long John Silver.

I have to say, this place was awful. The food was sub-par to say the least. I ordered a simple cheeseburger medium well. It came out, and literally, was red and I mean RED in the middle. I had already taken a few bites before I realized it. The waiter wouldn't even get the manager and said there was nothing he could do since I had already eaten it... and that he was, "Sure you'll be fine..." Well thanks Doc! If you have your med. degree, why are you waiting tables at this dive!? I would not return and would NOT recommend it. The prices don't match what you get.

Went for dinner and lunch and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and the food was great! The salad bar was great with fresh produce and well maintained. The Ahi Tuna was exceptional, my nine year old could not keep his hands off :) It was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Smugglers Cove is good enough to be a big city restaurant. My wife and I come here every time we visit the area and have not been disappointed. Fresh foods, sustainable seafood, and many dishes can be ordered in a smaller portion (which we find to be just right for our appetites). I find the coconut shrimp & the sangria too sweet but really like the wild-caught Gulf shrimp, crab stuffed flounder with a creamy butter sauce. Dirty martinis & Angry Orchard cider are so good!. The gumbo is tasty & so is the coffee. One menu section has "healthy" offerings. I find it fairly priced for its quality & quantity. Atmosphere & service are both nice for dinner.

Complete rip off. My husband ordered a lb of crab legs and his plate looked like it was only enough to feed a small child. My coconut shrimp although delicious was the size of an appetizer. We were charged for 2 margaritas that we didn't have. I feel like we wasted so much money and left still hungry. The only thing we did enjoy was the salad bar.

We yelped the Scotsrun area after a busy day of casting spells at Magic Quest at Great Wolf Lodge. I suppose spell casting and wand waving can rouse quite an appetite, but more likely it was the fact that it makes you scale a flight of stairs probably 50 times in one round of playing. Oh, to be 10 again. Smuggler's Cove looked good by all Yelp accounts, but as we pulled up in the pouring rain, there were people waiting out front, and the lot was packed. Good, yet bad, sign. Suprisingly, our party of 6 was seated quickly- Saturday night, no less. Maybe those wands do have some magic in 'em yet! The menu was pretty wide, by seafood standards. Plenty of shrimp/crab/lobster meals, plus several fresh fish catches. We ended up shrimp-heavy on our table's order; kids split a pound of jumbo shrimp ($15), grandma had spinich salad with shrimp, I had shrimp/scallops fettuchini alfredo ($14) ,and wife had crab cakes ($15). Most meals were offered in "Lite" and "Dinner" sized portions, a nice option. I guess all of our orders were pretty bread and butter...but they were good. Also, our waiter Cody suggested that instead of getting a side-salad, I order the salad bar.Turned outto be a good move; self-serve salad bar offered a big plate,a big offering, and a better deal then the kitchen-prepared version. Lighting inside was dark. I tried to see if the darkness was to hide a dirty carpet, shot tables or chairs, etc...but couldn't find anything obvious.Lots of typical sea-foodie wallhangings that you'd expect in any seafood resturaunt. Pleasant enough. Bathrooms were pretty clean, also. I'll throw the Smuggler's Cove 4 stars for a solid meal. I can't say we really sampled the chef's carp capabilites, grouper's grandiousity, or mahi-mahi's marvelousness....come on, how hard is shrimp, salad, or a crabcake? But,my alfredo was as alfredo-ee as alfredo can be, and the shrimp 'n' scallops were succulent. Total bill was $75 for three adults and three kids, with most meals on the menu pushing $20. Maybe a bit overpriced, but a square meal. Next time, I'll live a bit larger...lobster!

Went here for Easter with our family. I was not crowded. The waitstaff was inattentive. The food was EXTREMELY overpriced. I had the shrimp po - boys and my husband had the fish and chips. The po - boys had four small battered shrimp on a thick roll with lots of lettuce tomato and pickle. $15 and $4 dollars for the salad bar. The fish and chips were 3 fish sticks you get at the grocery and half a handful of fries. $16 salad bar included but the soup which next to the salad bar is extra. No sign telling you that. It was sad and miserable and SO expensive. A diner would have been much better

Great meal here. My colleague recommended this place to me. The ambience was very warm and homely. We had Seafood Norfolk (came with two sides) and cheeseburger (with one side) as well as the Mozerella sticks! Seafood Norfolk was slightly too salty but I had steamed broccoli to balance that out. It was a great experience overall and we will definitely be back again!

I stopped by with my family on our way home from Niagara to NJ. Saw the ratings and was impressed; however very disappointed with my husband's seafood platter. The flounder was spoiled and the nasty juice was on the platter. Our server quickly replaced it with a salmon but I feel we shouldn't have had to pay $30 for something we didn't enjoy. Wont visit again :(

******3.5****** Came here on Valentine's Day w/ another couple, may I quickly add that this area has VERY limited restaurant options. Meh! But anyway, we found this restaurant after driving back & forth looking for it and only had to wait about 10 mins for a table without a reservation. We ordered the lobster bisque, crabmeat stuffed shrimp which comes w/ 2 sides (we got fries and steamed broccoli) and the crabmeat stuffed lobster tail w/ 2 sides (salad bar and steamed broccoli). The lobster bisque was thick and they topped it w/ fresh lobster meat, it was really good when u dipped the free rolls into too. The salad bar had a large supply of light green romaine lettuce and a small supply of spinach greens. It was pretty well stocked, not like Ruby Tuesdays bar, but it definitely got the job done. The steamed broccoli was seasoned w/ salt and pepper. Both the shrimp and lobster were really good and cooked well. We finished our meal w/ strawberry cheesecake which they advertised as being from "The Poconos Cheesecake Factory". The cheesecake was VERY good, perfect balance of salt and sweet HOWEVER it didn't have a crust, that's 1 of the best parts of cheesecake :( Service was slow, but the company made it nice. In summary, considering the area & it's limited options, it could get 4 stars, but because I live near DC and have had very good food, I would give them a 3, hence the 3.5 eating.

Appetizers are really good. Service was great. The waitress laughing like a hyena next to the bar is the biggest negative about my experience . My parent's dinners were beautiful and apparently delicious since there were no leftovers.

  • R.B. D.

I think a 3 star rating is a little low, but a 4 is too high. This is a solid 3.5 star restaurant. The service has been extremely friendly both times I've visited so kudos to them for that. My first visit was a solid 4 star experience from a food point of view. I had some of the best Kumamoto oysters I've ever eaten at this restaurant. The burger was delicious and the NE Clam Chowder was wonderful. On my second visit the food was not at the same level, but good none-the-less. In all fairness it was New Year's Eve and they were swamped. The filet was a little overdone and the lobster tail was as well, but the flavors were still on point. Go for lunch or early dinner before the crowds get there and stick with the catch of the day or seafood specialties.

We happened to drive by and thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I was surprised to see a cuban sandwich on the menu. Glad I tried it because it was tasty and it was a generous portion. My family had burgers and fries which were nicely done. We will certainly return to try more of the menu items.

Ordered a martini made w/ top shelf vodka, received a Banker's Club martini & a Pepsi. Huh? We got more seafood in a seafood chowder from a local, cheesy diner than in any of the over-priced entrees this place serves.

Every time we visit the Poconos we always stop in and have at least one meal, either lunch or dinner. The entrees are always good, never had a bad meal here. The seafood is excellent, nice décor--not too fancy, not too casual, although we saw plenty of people in shorts and tee shirts. We had the seafood fettuccine alfredo with seafood--very, very good. We actually had the lite portion, which was perfect when combined with the salad bar (always fresh, never a disappointment) as we wanted to eat lite. The full portions are a nice size, but on this particular evening we wanted to go lite--it was nice to have that option. Staff is friendly and service always excellent. Had the chocolate moose for desert and it was excellent--had to share it because we were full. Highly recommend it.

After near starvation and getting lost finding a thai restaurant. We went here and the food was overpriced and ok. We got grilled salmon with coleslaw, the seafood pilaf hot pot, coconut shrimp (4!), iced teas and Parmesan tilapia I believe. I was surprised to see small amount food, aside from the hot pot, we got. The food itself was eh

Stopped for lunch and it great! Sat at bar. Bartender put out tons of bar vittles. Cheese & cracks, peanuts, pretzels, popcorn, tortillas and pico! Ordered chic & rice soup, coconut shrimp and fish & chips (homemade potato chips. Would have wanted fries instead). All was delicious and fresh. Would definitely return and recommend!

Overpriced mediocre seafood. And small portions to boot. Seems like a tourist trap type of restaurant. Red Lobster is so much better and better prices for what you get. We are big with cleanliness. Their bathrooms were hideous with stains all over the mirrors. Will not be back

We have been there on a friday and they had a lobster and surf and turf special for $ 22.95. The lobster was really good, the surf and turf was amazing, too, except the steak could have been a little bit bigger ;) I do not recommend to drink any cocktails, except you like minute maid margaritas...

My parents, husband and I went to a ski resort in the Poconos for a few days. Nothin' like a little relaxation mixed with fun; and just being away from the ho-hum-drum of the city was fantastic. We ate mostly resort fare while we were there, but by Day 3, we were ALL craving seafood. One of the events coordinators suggested Smugglers Cove. It was a good suggestion distance wise, because it was located right near the Tannersville Outlets and my diva mother could get a quick shopping fix. Smugglers looked cool from the outside, but the bar area inside kinda looked like a club for old folks. I mean we're talking folks that are accustomed to Fix-o-dent and the scent of Bengay. I was glad the host didn't seat us around the bar. I mean, I ain't got nothing against older people now but it was just weird seeing a restaurant bar with about 15 people all over the age of 50. The food was pretty solid, though. I even tried duplicating their Milano style mussels {spinach, bacon, tomato, garlic and clam broth} when I got back home. Total hit! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. In fact, I can tell you it was all good cuz my fork was in everyone's plate...Ahhh, the benefits of traveling with momma, dad and handsome man candy ;-) So while it wasn't mind blowing, the Tannersville/Poconos area has a solid establishment here that I'm sure won't be going anywhere for some time.

We were on a weekend getaway and took the family there. Although the food was good, the service wasn't. Had to wait 10 minutes after we got our food to get ketchup for my burger and salad dressing for my husband's seafood salad. Then when we left, there were three employees at the front desk, and none of them said "have a good night", or "thanks for coming." In fact, they didn't look up at us at all!

Afer spending a beautiful Fall day in the Poconos we stopped at the Smuggler's Cove for a seafood dinner. It was our first trip to this restaurant and it won't be our last. The food was very good as was the atmosphere. There was a lot to choose from on the menu and for most items there was a choice of regular sized portions or a smaller lite portion. On the fish dishes you also get a choice of sauce & how you want the dinner prepared. We both ordered the salmon with a mediterranian sauce that included bits of olives & oranges on a olive oil base. You also get a choice of two side dishes and hot rolls. The portions of everything were good sized and the food was very good. We highly recommend this restaurant.

I'm kind of a seafood aficionado. I've been all over the eastern US and sampled the freshest and tastiest fish the Atlantic has to offer. While traveling down to the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte 3 years ago, I stopped at a Long John Silver's in Lynchburg, VA. I have yet to find better seafood than that, but I will always have a soft spot for Smuggler's Cove. I first noticed Smuggler's Cove about 15 years ago when it was being attacked by a giant crab. The crab had fiercely planted itself on the roof of the building and was ripping off shingles and spewing venom at cars passing on 611. Having once filled out half a pamphlet to join the Coast Guard, I felt it was my duty to stop this beast. I had my buddy Ernie fill up the bed of his pick-up with algae and drive in front of the crab to distract it, while I flanked it from the rear. I saw enough movies to know that fire was probably the best option, and climbed the rear of the building while restaurant employees shouted words of encouragement. Using a potato gun I had rigged into a small flamethrower, I torched the menace and it immediately started to shrink and shrivel under the heat. By this time, there was quite a crowd gathered below. I stabbed the crab with my hunting knife, finishing it off for good as the crowd shouted and threw their hands up in praise. When I returned to the ground (expecting a hero's welcome), the owner was there to greet me along with two police officers I thought were there to make me a honorary member of the force. Before I knew it, I was cuffed and in the back of one of their squad cars. I spent the night in jail and learned that Smuggler's Cove was not under attack by a giant sea crustacean, but the crab was in fact inflatable and put there by the manager as part of a 'marketing promotion'. The police assured me that there was no damage to the roof nor any 'venom' that was being projected by the inflated canvas crab. I was told that the onlookers below were not shouting in honest support, but rather in patronizing annoyance. Apparently the only crowd reassurance was coming from my cousin who the cops detained after he repeated the phrase "Boil that bastard!" several dozen times. I still think it's bullshit and I should be treated as a hero. Now I know what the troops in Vietnam felt when they came back home. I was just doing my duty. But like an Alzheimer's patient or a relief pitcher, I have a short memory (more so like the former). The very next year, they put that crab up again and an overwhelming feeling of civic duty rushed upon me again...They've since replaced the inflatable crab with a wooden sign. Oh, and their food is pretty good too. I'm kind of a celebrity around those parts, so they treat me well.

Over priced! I ordered the $30 broiled seafood combo platter with crab legs and I got a appetizer size meal with A crab leg! The fillet fish tasted like it was cooked with dirty dish towels. It was very disappointing. My dinner date had the surf and turf special with the lobster tail and he enjoyed it very much. But after paying $30 for a $15 meal we will never go back there not recommend the place to anyone.

Went for dinner and lunch and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and the food was great! The salad bar was great with fresh produce and well maintained. The Ahi Tuna was exceptional, my nine year old could not keep his hands off :) It was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Appetizers are really good. Service was great. The waitress laughing like a hyena next to the bar is the biggest negative about my experience . My parent's dinners were beautiful and apparently delicious since there were no leftovers.

I've been here twice with my wife. The portions are small considering the price they charge. Food was average. Prefer to buy seafood from a supermarket and cook it myself. Enough said.

  • Mike P.

I have to agree that device superb in the restaurant but over priced. For the price and small portions, this is more expensive then Manhattan!

Overpriced mediocre seafood. And small portions to boot. Seems like a tourist trap type of restaurant. Red Lobster is so much better and better prices for what you get. We are big with cleanliness. Their bathrooms were hideous with stains all over the mirrors. Will not be back

  • Sven S.

We have been there on a friday and they had a lobster and surf and turf special for $ 22.95. The lobster was really good, the surf and turf was amazing, too, except the steak could have been a little bit bigger ;) I do not recommend to drink any cocktails, except you like minute maid margaritas...

  • Alice B.

  • Cassie M.
