Heng's on Baltimore Pike, and the express version on West Chester Pike, is really great. Their food is delicious and flavorful. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their food can be a tad overpriced compared to other Thai places in the area.

Wow, this place has great sushi! I was massively impressed with their spicy tuna roll and their Philly roll. The spicy tuna was almost black in color - it was a little scary, but it tasted so good. It wasn't mashed tuna, it was just a nice chunk of tuna with spicy sauce rolled up in between the rice and the fish. The Philly roll was great. It had salmon, cream cheese, sliced cucumbers, and, best of all, plenty of breadcrumbs for some added crunch. My husband got some sashimi and the pieces were humungo! He was very pleased. His eel avocado roll was also good. The eel wasn't chewy at all. The chicken satay was just meh. I wouldn't get it again. The green salad was gigantic and came with two sides of Japanese ginger dressing. Everything was just great. We will definitely be making this our go-to sushi joint!!

This place was good, but not great. I would say my meal was 3.5/5, but there were some problems with the service. It was a little strange in general with the servers because it seemed to be a "team approach" ... basically you were served by everyone working. My mom ordered tea and it was very weak so she asked for another tea bag. When the bill came, they charged for fried ice cream, which we clearly did not order. I asked for it to be removed, and it was...BUT they added another 4 bucks for the extra tea bag!! Crappy cheap tea, too! My meal was good...but I probably wouldn't go back because it wasn't great enough to deal with the weird service again.

I didn't like the sushi much (I had the spicy salmon roll), but the drunken noodles and green salad were delicious. The staff was very friendly and the decor was cute and comfy. I've eaten here over ten times both lunch and dinner and each time the meal was delicious. I tried Taro Root for the first time and honestly it could be a dessert. Deep fried and served with a sweet and sour sauce it reminded me of funnel cake. Delicious. I've also enjoyed a number of their curry selections and what I really enjoy is that they ask you the level of spiciness you would like from 1-4. Their dishes are healthy and fresh. Parking is more convenient than up by Outback and I enjoy this place much more than down under. Service is always good and the food comes out quickly, even when they are busy. Looking forward to trying the Havertown location.

M and I came here on a whim while waiting on his car to get done getting worked on. A Heng's Thai Express just opened on the Havertown/Upper Darby border and I was intrigued, so when we were in the vicinity of the original location, I was all over it. I got edamame to start and M got Tom Yum Soup. Edamame are addicting and I wolfed down the whole bowl. No shame. M said the Tom Yum Soup was really good. I didn't get to try any, but it looked spicy and delicious so I'll take his word for it. For my entree, I got the chicken pad thai. M got the drunken noodles (at a number 4). The pad thai was delicious. A little oily, but not too bad. M liked the drunken noodles a lot. They were spicy enough for him (and he is a BIG spice fan). Also, can I please just talk about the service? The man and woman that waited on us were absolutely wonderful. They were quietly polite and super nice. I can't express how much I liked them. I wanted to hug them.

I went there for dinner and had the salmon capachi and seaweed salad. It was tasty and had an interesting combination of flavors. The staff is friendly, however, after we received our food we were not checked on. The server only came back to see if we were ready to have our food wrapped up and get our check. Also, a guest in our group has a coconut allergy. Now you must think we were crazy to bring her to a thai restaurant knowing a lot of their cuisine incorporates coconut. The server helped guide her through the menu, we had no problems. I will be back again.

i love a place where i can get sushi and thai food, as both of those things make me happy. This place had a nice menu (actually probably too many things on the menu) and it took me a while to decide. We came in late, and the employees didnt make us feel unwelcome or intrusive. I was very impressed by Heng's Thai when I was recently in Philadelphia. My friend and I fly out of PHL for work and she suggested we stop in for a late lunch/early dinner. She was craving the Crispy Taro app! After some research and a few calls to her friends, we found 'the place with the crispy taro'! We walked in about 420p and they were nice enough to seat us, despite not being officially open for a few minutes, at 430p. We started with a pot of hot green tea for this cold and snowy Philly day and pre-ordered this Crispy Taro. When it arrived, we weren't dissappointed! The app comes with a spicy orange type dipping sauce and we never finished the entire app.We ordered what would be our early dinner: I got the Penang Curry with Shrimp and my friend got the Green Curry with Pork. Both were ample servings that left us enough for the next day. I love Penang for its combination of coconut milk and curry spice. They ask you what level of spice you would like your curry between 1 and 4, I liked that, because often you end up with a very spicy dish in some Thai restaurants. I am a fan of Heng's! NOW, that said, I only have two issues. One being that the kid waiting on us did not bring two waters when I initially asked for waters with lemon. When he came back and my friend asked for us, I also noticed that the top of the straw is 'decorated' with the white protective paper that is twisted so tightly around the top of the straw you can barely get it off! NOW, I wondered, of course, how much someone had to touch the straw while making this cute, decorative piece for the straw. Yes. I actually asked if they hand twisted this straw thing and the gentlemen refilling our waters said they did and it was 'not an easy thing to do' . Okay! Next, I have a big issue with being rushed thru a meal. Meals with friends are social times to me and the kid waiting on us came back as we were still eating to ask if we were done and even took away the second pots of hot green tea we had just ordered! Umm. Please don't take things when people are clearly still enjoying them! The food quality and taste and ambience of Heng's tho is above board. I was pleasantly surprised!

We went here many times before realizing that the staff is not sure about the ingredients in the entrees. A manager once gave us a list of vegan menu items, yet during repeat visits servers pointed out that these dishes were not. I still don't know if the eel sauce contains fish or not. Considering we lost faith in the fact that we were truly getting vegan food, we stopped going. I will say that the vegetable sushi is excellent, especially the sweet potato (without the eel sauce).

This place has lovely decor and attentive waiters so I gave it two stars, but thats pretty much where the compliments end. I've been here many times, because for a while I didn't know of other options in the area for asian fusion food, but my last experience just cemented it for me. I got the Tom Yum soup and it was as if someone had dumped the entire bottle of fish sauce into it, it was completely inedible. I moved it to the other side of the table so I could finish trying to enjoy my Massaman curry (watery mix of peanut butter, tomato paste, and coconut milk, but at least it didn't make me gag), but the overpowering fishy smell kept wafting across the room. The seaweed salad was slimy, and the peanut and pork dumplings were cold. The sushi is mediocre, but there really are not many other options in the area besides margaret kuos in media so I understand coming here for the sushi. I like their Volcano roll, but as I said its still rather sub-par. However, if you want Thai food, I BEG YOU do not come here and instead take a five minute drive to the Thai restaurant on Macdade (I don't know what the rules are about posting other restaurants' names on Yelp so just look up Thai and Macdade and you'll find it). I recently discovered it and was blown away by how much better it was than this place, but the decor isn't as nice so it doesn't get many customers. Trust me, take a date here and wow them with your knowledge of amazing under the radar restaurants. I've never been moved to write a bad review until I realized what I think is a crazy injustice that Heng's is packed and this other place is empty. I feel bad because the wait staff are really nice. This is what Yelp is for people! Heng's needs to step up its game, it can't just get by on the decor forever (can it? i hope not!).

The food is delicious and it is our favorite place to get take out in the area. Favorite dishes include the Drunken Noodles, Basil lovers, and Pad Woon Sen. The Thai dumplings are also delicious. I can't comment on service, because I have never eaten in the restaurant, mostly because of the small size. Just picking up take out can be a tight squeeze. I would definitely visit the restaurant to eat in, and give a higher rating if the eating area were a bit larger and not in that poorly-designed strip mall where parking is like a scene from Armageddon.

My bf and I were around the Springfield Mall area and thought maybe we should stop by somewhere for dinner so after a few minutes of driving around Springfiled we stumbled upon Heng's Thai and decided to have dinner here for the first time. The place was very modern and cozy but the seating was a little tight. Especially, because we had our newborn son with us. The staffs were nice and attentive but lacked a little skills in some area. After seating us there were several other parties that came in and they just kinda stood around people's table while they were eating while the staff asked them where they would like to be seated. Pointing and having them sit in one area than asking if they'll be comfortable in other was kinda weird to me. But anyways back to the point of this review THE FOOD!!! So my bf and I decided on the Tamarid Duck and the Pad Thai Noodles which both turned out to be surprisingly good! The portion of each plate was enough for two! And we couldn't even finish the Pad Thai Noodles and ended up taking the rest to go. The Tamarine Duck tasted fresh and I really liked that they placed the sauce on the side where I could control the amount that I wanted on my food. It was crispy and sliced into thin pieces and very easy to eat. The Pad Thai Noodle was also a good choice and they gave you such a good amount of chicken and shrimp that within' each bite you had wasen't just noodle. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience here and if ever in the neighborhood I will definitely be stopping by here for either lunch or dinner!

After living in swarthmore for nearly 2 years and hearing good things about this restaurant I finally tried it. It was not good! The egg roll was ok, but my drunken noodles were mostly comprised of over cooked mushy veggies and huge chunks of tofu with a few noodle pieces. I was very disappointed I wasted a night out to dinner here. Even worse I became so nauseated a couple hours later I vomited up the remnants of what was yet to be digested. I can't believe how busy this restaurant was considering right down the road in Media are some fantastic restaurants, like spasso, ariano, iron hill brewery etc. Even bertuccis right across the street is incredible in comparison. If you're really yearning for Thai food I suggest taking the approximate 3 mile ride to folsom and eat at Viman on macdade blvd. It's pretty decent and won't make you sick to your stomach.

Needed to grab some lunch while cruising down the Pike of Baltimore, and I was in the mood for Thai. This place satisfied my Thai craving and had the added bonus of offering sushi! Lucky me! Decent lunch special got me some Tom Yum soup, spring roll, and Green Curry with Chicken. I was feeling ravenous, so I ordered the Spicy Salmon and Crunchy Avocado roll. Service was extremely quick, even when the server also played hostess. The food was good, but not as memorable as other Thai dishes I've had before. The Tom Yum soup was my favorite part of the meal - it was delish! The Green Curry had the perfect amount of heat. (When you order, you can let them know how spicy you want it.) Plus, sushi was fresh! Note that the portions are not lunch-sized, so take the leftovers home and savor the taste for a second time! The restaurant is clean, simple, and food is fresh and tasty. Prices are a bit more than your average, but for a quick lunch, it hit the spot!

Heng's Thai is a nice location, adequate parking as its in a shopping center off directly off Baltimore. The interior is nice, options of tables (most only seat four) with chairs or half booth styled with pillows. The pillows are nice and squishy. I liked the pillows most about this place. The wait staff was friendly, but all over the place. We easily saw 3-4 people from our server to food runner, to a check in and finally the check. They were all friendly, so naturally we tipped normally for friendly service, I just hope they tip out appropriately or pay their employees enough. As for the food, I'm giving two stars appropriately, I ordered two sushi rolls, my date had the curry. Both were very over priced for the amount and quality of food. I was given the impression they were going for an almost fine dining experience which they did not reach on any count. We normally head to Media for either sushi or Thai (Temaki or Noodi) but due to a disagreement we found this place to resolve our differences. As there aren't too many places in the area offering both sushi and Thai food, we were hopeful upon finding this joint. After browsing the menu hope diminished. It is a nice place, friendly staff, and average food. Despite that we've decided not to go back since the price isn't right. I wouldn't recommend stopping by with other options so close.

Service was really so-so. Waiter was friendly, good attitude, took our orders and got our drinks. Our appetizer came all in good time, but the food took quite a while. However, after our initial drinks were delivered, NO ONE came back to refill our drinks... I tried several times to get wait-staff attention, but finally managed to catch a waitress after 4 tries to refill our drinks. Same lack of attention when our food was finished - took a while to get the check and longer for them to come back and retrieve it. Not that I like to eat dinner in a rush, but I'm a waitress too and I check in with MY guests WAY more often. It was not even that busy this evening. Food was delicious! I highly recommend the thai steamed dumplings with pork and peanuts inside - yum! I had the drunken noodles (noodles were perfectly cooked and not mushy at all) and my husband had the pad thai, which he also enjoyed thoroughly. The thai iced teas were definitely on the sweet side, but still good. Atmosphere is very modern and sophisticated yet comfortable - great date place. Value - the food is quite expensive. I would say the taste is up to par though, and worth the $$, especially since they give you so much of it. We practically rolled out the front door. All in all, we'll probably return, and just ask for a pitcher of water next time.

Crying Tiger. What a great name for an appetizer! The image just pops into my mind every time. Of course one would assume that it's spicy and it is but in a good way. At $10 it is my favorite way to start a meal here. The steamed dumplings are also great and are the same price. My favorite main dish is Drunken Noodles ($15.00). It's a blend of spices and basil leaf stir fried with rice noodles, minced chicken and vegetables. Fifteen bucks is on the low end of the main dishes here. Some go as high as $21.00. Your tab shouldn't be too bad as Heng's is a BYOB. Expect friendly quick service in a nice atmosphere. Heng's is located in a very busy plaza that also has an Outback. The parking on weekend evenings is insanely bad. Actually it's even worse than that. I'd rather have a root canal than attempt this plaza on a Friday or Saturday night! Go during the week and you'll have a nice four star experience.

If only... That's usually how I feel after a mean at Heng's. The atmosphere is great and the food is okay-to-good, but their prices are maybe $5 too high per dish and there's an odd vibe for us when we eat there that I can't quite put my finger on. Still, they make the best Crying Tiger (spicy beef salad) in the area and they have a sushi bar. Parking can often be challenging since they're in the same shopping center as Outback and there are a limited number of spaces in a claustrophobic lot.

I've been here a couple times and I've always been satisfied. It's definitely the best Thai place in the Springfield area plus they also offer sushi and other Japanese dishes (I've yet to try them here). The inside looks nice. It gets pretty busy during the late weekend dinner hours and being a smaller place, there aren't many tables. Good thing they have take-out though! As far as the food: The Thai Iced Tea was decent. I've tried the The both the Pork and Shrimp Dumplings and the Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai with shrimp, Green, and Red Curry with chicken and was happy with all. I've mostly only had Thai in DC and NYC and never heard of selecting how spicy I wanted the dish but it was a nice added feature. Next time I hope to try the sushi or something from the Japanese menu. The prices were a little high but there's not much else to offer in the area as far as good Thai food. I still enjoy going here and definitely my go-to place when I want some Thai and I'm not down in Philly.

This place was highly recommended to me by my boss and his wife however they seem to not know much when it comes to Asian cuisine. My girlfriend ordered the Bangkok fried rice, which basically was oil soaked rice with pineapple and some other vegetables. She was barely satisfied only because of the portion size. I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai. I was briefed that they had a spicy scale 1-4, I ordered 4 and was warned that was extremely spicy and they are known for having the spiciest food, I gladly accepted the challenge and told them that was fine. Got my dish served sweet, not a tad spicy. I had to waive my waiter down about 15 minutes after being served and ask wether or not it was ordered correctly, he said he will double check. Went to the back and came back with a small dish full of spices and said that I could add more to my dish and mix it in as I see fit. Needless to say I added the whole dish before my food started to get the tiniest bit spicy. By this time my food was cold and the spiciest have soaked up all the oil and now i had to eat a crunchy barely spicy cold Thai noodle dish. It was horrible and the waiter paid no sympathy to it. I will never go back as long as their food is tasteless and soaked in oil.

Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. This was my first experience eating at this restaurant. The atmosphere is clean and cozy. We had ordered a few different apps, sushi rolls, and Thai entrees. The food was really delicious and the portions were large. I thought the price was reasonable for the six people in attendance (224.00 including gratuity). It is a BYOB so you definitely save costs in the alcohol department. I visited Heng's with two others on a weekday evening. We arrived around 6:45pm and found the restaurant to be about 40% full. The interior is decorated in a simple way and is unobtrusive, save for the TV mounted on the wall behind the sushi bar. As has been mentioned previously, the seating is pretty tight and I was confident that the tables surrounding us were able to hear our conversation just as easily as we could hear theirs. We were seated quickly and we began perusing the menus. We settled on dumplings and fried taro for appetizers, and I went with the Emerald Rice (green curry fried rice) as my entree. Our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly. The dumplings were decent (the cilantro garnish kicked it up a notch), but the taro was excellent. Evenly fried and served with a peanut sauce, it was very flavorful. Our entree's arrived and here was the only hitch in our service that evening. Two entrees arrived at once, while the third did not arrive for another six or seven minutes. This, IMO, is unacceptable. My entree however, was delicious. It was ordered as a two and was spiced accordingly. Just enough to loosen up the sinuses! The portion size was fantastic and I had enough to take home for dinner the following evening. The other two members of our party also had great things to say about their food as well. Overall, a really solid experience, with the exception of the entree delivery. I would definitely consider returning in the future.

Had lunch at Heng's last week and it was alright. I ordered tofu pad thai and it came with carrots and cauliflower. I honestly don't get how the past two Thai restaurants I've been to use these ingredients in their pad thai. The flavor wasn't bad, but it wasn't very spicy. Not a trace of it actually. When I asked if I could get it a little spicy, the waitress had to see if she could. My understanding is that pad thai is normally at least a little bit spicy... In conclusion, so-so pad thai which could definitely be improved on.

If you're in Delaware County (Springfield to be specific), and you're in the mood for Thai, I recommend Heng's Thai. The ambience is fairly simple. It's located in a shopping area with retail stores and other restaurants, so parking isn't bad. The last time I dined at Heng's was on a weekday. It was not crowded at all. Service was pretty good. I ordered the drunken noodles, which I had for the first time. My wife had shrimp pad thai. She had a little of mine and vice versa. We were both pleased with our meals. If you get a chance, try the iced tea with milk. Unfortunately, I can't recall the exact name of the drink, but I know for sure it is sweetened iced tea with milk. It was different, yet very tasty.

My family and I are...WERE regulars here. My mom especially likes it, so we decided to take her for Mother's Day dinner. We arrived at 6:45 and were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait for a party of five. We shivered in the frigid restaurant (my siblings had to go back to our car for jackets and they were still cold) for over half an hour before a party of ten who ARRIVED ten minutes after us (when we were supposed to be seated) who did not have reservations. I checked twice whether we were on the list and was assured by two separate staff members that we were, but when we spoke to the same staff members about the other party being seated before us, we were told there was a "miscommunication." The girl who originally put us on the wait list was completely unapologetic and rude and did not seem to care about losing our business. We definitely won't be returning, which is a shame. Don't come here for professionalism or good service.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the pretty decor, you can tell this restaurant is a little fancy, good for a romantic date or dressing up with girlfriends for a night out. Prices are a little high compared to other Thai food places I've been too, but the portions were fair and the quality of the food was good. I ordered the Masaman curry, a yellow curry with potatoes, peanuts, and cocunut milk. It was pretty good, though I can't say its the best I've had. I was surprised that the menu offered teriyaki dishes, which made my bf happy because he loves a good teriyaki sauce. He also ordered a roll of tempura sushi. He liked it, I can't say how good it was myself because I don't eat sushi. Overall everything was tasty, and I want to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Honestly, I don't know if the food is worth the prices though, so when we do come back it will probably be for a special occassion.

What I like about this place: 1. We were seated and served quickly. 2. The decor is soft and inviting. 3. The sushi is made fresh. 4. The waitstaff is prompt and courteous. 5. The food is delicious! 6. You can alter the level of spice. What I don't like about this place: 1. I wasn't prepared for the taste and texture of the Thai sweet tea...but someone else may enjoy it. It doesn't bother me, but: 1. On a busy day, the parking lot in this shopping center fills up quickly, leaving you to drive around searching for a space.

Very hip, modern, and customer friendly restaurant. Springfield doesn't have many (if any) byob style restaurants that are worth going to so when this opened I jumped at the chance. Hengs has good food but to me the service is over all. The staff is mostly young, attractive, vibrant people who greet you by your name the more often you dine in. I recommend to everyone!

Hi, I went to Heng's Thai sometime last week. From the outside I thought this place couldn't possibly serve delicious food. Boy was I a dummie. My wife and I ordered: Thai Steamed Dumplings, Shrimp in Shell, Tamarind Duck, and the Pad Thai Shrimp. I'm going here later today and I don't think I'm going to change my order. I ask for it extra spicey and it's perfect -- veggies, as I said, always very fresh. Thai iced tea is sweet. I've had the curry puffs and the steamed dumpling apps too -- tasty. This is kind of a strange complaint, but sometimes service is TOO quick. Like I get my meal on top of my app and have 0 time to actually talk to my friend/date, whomever. It's BYOB so come prepared. Parking is TOUGH in that tiny parking lot with lots of "popular" shops in that strip. I think I'm going back this week -- so that should tell ya something!

I suppose I'm spoiled for having lived near Philadelphia's Tamarind and Lemongrass for so long, but I was left wanting a lot more from Heng's. I found the menu to be much more pricey than expected, the portions on the smaller side, and the service not very attentive. I actually never got the glass of water I asked for, nor did or server ever check in to see how our food was. The seating arrangements also leave a lot to be desired as we were practically in our neighbors' lap and, because of that, I had to listen to him ramble on about how more wealthy people are eating fast food nowadays. I also take issue with the amount of spice. I asked for the Drunken Noodles at about a 3.5 out of 4, and there was absolutely no trace of heat. Perhaps that was a server error, though. I really wanted to be impressed, given that it's very close to our house, but, ultimately, I left disappointed. I'm not sure I'll go back.
I've visited this restaurant twice and both times, I was pleased. The place is located on a strip mall, but don't let that fool you! The service is good, the atmosphere is nice and the food selection is excellent. For vegetarians, everything on the menu can be substituted with tofu (or none) and for spicy lovers, you can add or adjust the degree of spiciness of your dish. Overall, it was a good experience for me and my guests. Pros: Good service, cleanliness, atmosphere, good for vegetarians and spicy lovers (not spicy enough for me though!). Cons: I'd have to say they can do away without the TV. It's not a sports bar!

Always good, although they once made pad thai with rice instead of rice noodles -- but that was for take-out, and maybe Heng wasn't there. My only complaint is that menu is a bit on the limited side, and it never seems to change much. Definitely order "Thai steamed dumplings"; if you have kids, they will love these, too. We drove by this place a million times on the way to Gentile's before finally stopping one day for an early dinner. It was well worth it, and we returned many times while we lived in Media. When they day something is spicy, you better believe it... I am a spicy-coward type, but my wife, who lived in India for a while, can eat fire, and let me tell you that she was sweating away one night when she ordered one of the soups. I also like that they host artists and artwork so that the walls are always rotating with cool art.

I guess we didn't have the great experience here that everyone else has enjoyed. Overall the food is fine, but it literally took an hour to arrive; three families cycled through the table next to us before we were served. But let's assume that that's a fluke. The tom yum was waaaay hotter than I've ever had it elsewhere, to the point of inducing tears. Other dishes, including spring rolls, dumplings and curries got 'ok' reviews, but were nothing to write home about. I'll assume that the service usually isn't horrible, and give this place three stars for being remotely decent food near Swarthmore.

Amazing food. Best sushi in the area, by far. Friendly staff, casual to dressy attire. Prices are fair, service is great. I've been here over two dozen times and never had a bad meal. I always leave satisfied and with a doggie bag. The only thing I don't like is they WILL NOT substitute off the menu. I do not like one type of fish that comes with the sushi dish so it goes to waste because they won't swap out. Also, can't order a small side of fried rice or a shrimp tempura in an appetizer size (for my child). They are not very accommodating in that sense. Other than that - food and service is top quality.

I'm not a huge fan of strip mall restaurants, so I actually wasn't expecting much. But when I walked in, it was so adorable! Great service and amazing sushi. Although I usually get the sushi, I did try the chicken pad thai once and loved it... annnd the amazing fried banana dessert served w/ coconut ice cream. It's the only dessert they offer and the only dessert they need to offer! It's huge though, so share it! It has never been too crowded here, so I've never had to wait on a table. It's BYOB, so come prepared. I've come here several times and have made fans out of several of my friends along the way.

We ate at Heng's some months ago, and we were duly impressed. The curries were complex and didn't overpower the chicken or shrimp we ordered. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the vegetables were quite fresh, and elegantly prepared. The service was attentive, but not overly so, and quite professional. One additional nicety about Heng's is that it is a BYOB restaurant, and a number of guests seated at nearby tables were drinking their favorite beers or wines with dinner. The prices are reasonable, too. It's also a very comfortable and "metro" looking place, with a stylish interior and a relaxed and relaxing ambience.

This place is a well-kept secret that's kind of easy to miss while driving by. Its inauspicious location (squished between shops in a strip mall) belies its amazing cuisine. The menu has several pages of both Thai and Japanese dishes. We always get sushi (try the Heng Roll- incredible!) and soups/appetizers. The Kani salad and Crispy Taro are not to be missed. And as a BYOB, you can eat and drink without breaking the bank. Try it, you won't regret it!

I always expected, because of the location, that Heng's Thai was a little dumpy and unexciting, but I am happy to say I was wrong. Once you find a parking spot, which in the evenings is a little difficult because everyone's going to the Outback, you enter into a tranquil, semi styled out place. They have pretty sail-like sheets floating overhead, and a nice dimly lit interior. I got the Tom Kah soup, which hit the spot for my craving, and Tamarind Duck. The Duck was delightful and easy to eat. I chose to eat the savage way with my hands, because I'm a grown up and I can do whatever I want. My husband had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which he found to be very good as well. We usually choose to go to Noodi in Media, but I think we will now come here every once in a while to change things up. I like their menu, and when we want to go the Sushi way, I think there is a little more of a selection than Noodi.

Heng's has been a quality, go-to spot for me for quite some time now. My wife loves their drunken noodles. I try to get new stuff every time I go. The curries are all good. Beef salad is great. Both tom yum and tom kha soups are good. All food is fresh, not too heavy and very tasty. Sushi offerings are standard but very well done. Decor and lighting are very relaxing. Service is usually by committee. Spice requests can sometimes be a little random and erratic and parking is often a challenge. But the pros far outweigh the cons at this good to very good Thai spot. Make sure you take note of the yahoos who were waiting for a table outside the Outback just down the strip mall. Chances are they'll still be there on your way out of Heng's. Quite a common occurrence here in chain-restaurant-bloated Southern Delco.

Read great things on yelp about Heng's and thought we would try it out! We loved it! My husband had the Godzilla roll which he described as his sushi "nirvana" . It had tuna, avocado , roe , cucumber and it was crunchy and spicy.. Wrapped in rice paper.. He loved it .. Huge portion .. Now we know why the roll was expensive. It was enough for two. I had green curry with shrimp. I picked 3 out of 4 for the spice factor and it was perfect! The dish had a nice mixture of perfectly cut veggies and white rice. Delicious! It is BYOB so bring your bottle and enjoy!

Heng's Thai is certainly impressive when it comes to the decor, menu, and ingredients. I always get excited to come here because it seems kind of fancy and the prices are enough to make dining here a "special occasion". When I see the menu it takes me a while to decide because all the dishes sound very good. I think last time I got the Pad Thai, asking for a 2 out of 5 (or maybe 4?) in spiciness (made me feel a little silly, but that's how they do it.) The servers are accommodating and helpful though, allowing my mom to turn her dish into a Frankenstein concoction of nuts, ginger, and various green vegetables. While eating, I felt like the dish should have been better than it was, but it just didn't add up to the sum of its parts. It also seemed a little too spicy. I expected something generally mild but with a bit of a kick while this had me reaching for my Thai iced tea with every other bite. I don't consider myself a spice wuss either, I love putting hot sauce or red pepper flakes in just about everything. Speaking of the Thai iced tea, it is very good. Creamy, sweet, and flavorful. That, and they always do a cute little design with the top of the straw. Even so, I still enjoy my visits to Heng's, especially since it's the only Thai place in Springfield and probably the best Asian food in Delco but outside of Media. It'll definitely satisfy a Thai craving you may have and if it were cheaper I'm sure I'd come here more often.

As a Thai person myself, it is always hard to find a restaurant in the surburban area with a great authentic taste.. but Heng's Thai really hits the spot. I've eaten at Heng's so many times over the years, and I have never been disappointed with their food. They are famous for their Thai Steamed Dumplings and Crispy Taro --two dishes that are perfect to start out with. In terms of entrees, I definitely recommend their Drunken Noodles, Kanom Bueng (stir-fried coconut wrapped in a crepe), and Curries. I just had their Chilean Sea Bass the other day --an off menu special-- and it was perfectly pan-seared and covered in their red curry sauce. I loved that it came with healthy sides of brown rice and seaweed salad. There are so many other healthy options on the menu, as well as their integration of Japanese cuisine. Their specialty rolls are especially good. If you are going with a party, go with the Godzilla and/or Volcano roll since the portion is large and are good to share. Be sure to save room for dessert! Their Coconut ice cream which is apparently homemade is to die for! I LOVE their "Banana Combo" --Coconut ice cream served over sweet fried bananas. The price range is moderate to expensive. Appetizers run from $3 to $10, and entrees are about $14+. It is not a cheap restaurant, but a place that is both casual and classy. If you want to try it out and the price is drawing you back, I recommend dining in during lunch. Their specials are great! Overall, if you are looking for a place that is romantic, has amazing food, is kid-friendly, and accommodating, Heng's Thai is the place to be.

Heng and Noi have been part of the restaurant scene in Philly for many years, and when they moved to the burbs I was saddened. I've been to all their spots over the years, like Mano's and Thai Garden West in West Philly and Thai Garden East and Taste Of Thai in Center City. I remember back in the day I used to buy a dry aged, US Prime steak from Harry Och's in the Reading Terminal and take over to Noi and Pam to grill for me for my lunch. It was perectly done accompanied with grilled snow peas and grilled pineapple with a spicy steak sauce (I'm tearing up!") All thefood was prepared well. His new spot is more of the same and they serve Sushi too. And if you ever feel sick, cold, flu, headache or even just the blues, ask Noi to make you a bowl of Tom Yum Soup with extra garlicand extra, extra hot peppers add in. Guarrins Ballbearins it will cure whatever ails you, especially a nasty hangover!

My husband and I go to Heng's off and on in spurts. The food is good and the service is so-so (usually pretty good, but some visits we have waited a while for our food and water refills). We usually get the sushi and a hot entree. The sushi is on the better side of the sushi you can get in delco- warning- if you order the spicy tuna- it is SPICY. (they don't do the mayo deal- it's a tuna roll covered in hot sauce). The entrees that my husband and I have ordered are usually pretty good, no complaints about taste. The atmosphere is cute and the staff is always very friendly. The only downside is that it's a bit pricy, especially for Springfield, but otherwise a good place to go for a good meal.

Heng's on Baltimore Pike, and the express version on West Chester Pike, is really great. Their food is delicious and flavorful. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their food can be a tad overpriced compared to other Thai places in the area.

Wow, this place has great sushi! I was massively impressed with their spicy tuna roll and their Philly roll. The spicy tuna was almost black in color - it was a little scary, but it tasted so good. It wasn't mashed tuna, it was just a nice chunk of tuna with spicy sauce rolled up in between the rice and the fish. The Philly roll was great. It had salmon, cream cheese, sliced cucumbers, and, best of all, plenty of breadcrumbs for some added crunch. My husband got some sashimi and the pieces were humungo! He was very pleased. His eel avocado roll was also good. The eel wasn't chewy at all. The chicken satay was just meh. I wouldn't get it again. The green salad was gigantic and came with two sides of Japanese ginger dressing. Everything was just great. We will definitely be making this our go-to sushi joint!!

This place was good, but not great. I would say my meal was 3.5/5, but there were some problems with the service. It was a little strange in general with the servers because it seemed to be a "team approach" ... basically you were served by everyone working. My mom ordered tea and it was very weak so she asked for another tea bag. When the bill came, they charged for fried ice cream, which we clearly did not order. I asked for it to be removed, and it was...BUT they added another 4 bucks for the extra tea bag!! Crappy cheap tea, too! My meal was good...but I probably wouldn't go back because it wasn't great enough to deal with the weird service again.

I've eaten here over ten times both lunch and dinner and each time the meal was delicious. I tried Taro Root for the first time and honestly it could be a dessert. Deep fried and served with a sweet and sour sauce it reminded me of funnel cake. Delicious. I've also enjoyed a number of their curry selections and what I really enjoy is that they ask you the level of spiciness you would like from 1-4. Their dishes are healthy and fresh. Parking is more convenient than up by Outback and I enjoy this place much more than down under. Service is always good and the food comes out quickly, even when they are busy. Looking forward to trying the Havertown location.

M and I came here on a whim while waiting on his car to get done getting worked on. A Heng's Thai Express just opened on the Havertown/Upper Darby border and I was intrigued, so when we were in the vicinity of the original location, I was all over it. I got edamame to start and M got Tom Yum Soup. Edamame are addicting and I wolfed down the whole bowl. No shame. M said the Tom Yum Soup was really good. I didn't get to try any, but it looked spicy and delicious so I'll take his word for it. For my entree, I got the chicken pad thai. M got the drunken noodles (at a number 4). The pad thai was delicious. A little oily, but not too bad. M liked the drunken noodles a lot. They were spicy enough for him (and he is a BIG spice fan). Also, can I please just talk about the service? The man and woman that waited on us were absolutely wonderful. They were quietly polite and super nice. I can't express how much I liked them. I wanted to hug them.

I went there for dinner and had the salmon capachi and seaweed salad. It was tasty and had an interesting combination of flavors. The staff is friendly, however, after we received our food we were not checked on. The server only came back to see if we were ready to have our food wrapped up and get our check. Also, a guest in our group has a coconut allergy. Now you must think we were crazy to bring her to a thai restaurant knowing a lot of their cuisine incorporates coconut. I was very impressed by Heng's Thai when I was recently in Philadelphia. My friend and I fly out of PHL for work and she suggested we stop in for a late lunch/early dinner. She was craving the Crispy Taro app! After some research and a few calls to her friends, we found 'the place with the crispy taro'! We walked in about 420p and they were nice enough to seat us, despite not being officially open for a few minutes, at 430p. The app comes with a spicy orange type dipping sauce and we never finished the entire app.We ordered what would be our early dinner: I got the Penang Curry with Shrimp and my friend got the Green Curry with Pork. Both were ample servings that left us enough for the next day. I love Penang for its combination of coconut milk and curry spice. They ask you what level of spice you would like your curry between 1 and 4, I liked that, because often you end up with a very spicy dish in some Thai restaurants. I am a fan of Heng's! NOW, that said, I only have two issues. One being that the kid waiting on us did not bring two waters when I initially asked for waters with lemon. When he came back and my friend asked for us, I also noticed that the top of the straw is 'decorated' with the white protective paper that is twisted so tightly around the top of the straw you can barely get it off! NOW, I wondered, of course, how much someone had to touch the straw while making this cute, decorative piece for the straw. Yes. I actually asked if they hand twisted this straw thing and the gentlemen refilling our waters said they did and it was 'not an easy thing to do' . Okay! Next, I have a big issue with being rushed thru a meal. Meals with friends are social times to me and the kid waiting on us came back as we were still eating to ask if we were done and even took away the second pots of hot green tea we had just ordered! Umm. Please don't take things when people are clearly still enjoying them! The food quality and taste and ambience of Heng's tho is above board. I was pleasantly surprised!

We went here many times before realizing that the staff is not sure about the ingredients in the entrees. A manager once gave us a list of vegan menu items, yet during repeat visits servers pointed out that these dishes were not. I still don't know if the eel sauce contains fish or not. Considering we lost faith in the fact that we were truly getting vegan food, we stopped going. I will say that the vegetable sushi is excellent, especially the sweet potato (without the eel sauce).

This place has lovely decor and attentive waiters so I gave it two stars, but thats pretty much where the compliments end. I've been here many times, because for a while I didn't know of other options in the area for asian fusion food, but my last experience just cemented it for me. I got the Tom Yum soup and it was as if someone had dumped the entire bottle of fish sauce into it, it was completely inedible. I moved it to the other side of the table so I could finish trying to enjoy my Massaman curry (watery mix of peanut butter, tomato paste, and coconut milk, but at least it didn't make me gag), but the overpowering fishy smell kept wafting across the room. The seaweed salad was slimy, and the peanut and pork dumplings were cold. The sushi is mediocre, but there really are not many other options in the area besides margaret kuos in media so I understand coming here for the sushi. I like their Volcano roll, but as I said its still rather sub-par. However, if you want Thai food, I BEG YOU do not come here and instead take a five minute drive to the Thai restaurant on Macdade (I don't know what the rules are about posting other restaurants' names on Yelp so just look up Thai and Macdade and you'll find it). I recently discovered it and was blown away by how much better it was than this place, but the decor isn't as nice so it doesn't get many customers. Trust me, take a date here and wow them with your knowledge of amazing under the radar restaurants. I've never been moved to write a bad review until I realized what I think is a crazy injustice that Heng's is packed and this other place is empty. I feel bad because the wait staff are really nice. This is what Yelp is for people! Heng's needs to step up its game, it can't just get by on the decor forever (can it? i hope not!).

A friend and I shared two sushi rolls for lunch. The Godzilla and Volcano. Both were excellent. The miso soup was good as well. The service was good. The restaurant is clean. I can't comment on the Thai food, but the sushi is definitely a winner!

The food is delicious and it is our favorite place to get take out in the area. Favorite dishes include the Drunken Noodles, Basil lovers, and Pad Woon Sen. The Thai dumplings are also delicious. I can't comment on service, because I have never eaten in the restaurant, mostly because of the small size. Just picking up take out can be a tight squeeze. I would definitely visit the restaurant to eat in, and give a higher rating if the eating area were a bit larger and not in that poorly-designed strip mall where parking is like a scene from Armageddon.

My bf and I were around the Springfield Mall area and thought maybe we should stop by somewhere for dinner so after a few minutes of driving around Springfiled we stumbled upon Heng's Thai and decided to have dinner here for the first time. The place was very modern and cozy but the seating was a little tight. Especially, because we had our newborn son with us. The staffs were nice and attentive but lacked a little skills in some area. After seating us there were several other parties that came in and they just kinda stood around people's table while they were eating while the staff asked them where they would like to be seated. Pointing and having them sit in one area than asking if they'll be comfortable in other was kinda weird to me. But anyways back to the point of this review THE FOOD!!! So my bf and I decided on the Tamarid Duck and the Pad Thai Noodles which both turned out to be surprisingly good! The portion of each plate was enough for two! And we couldn't even finish the Pad Thai Noodles and ended up taking the rest to go. The Tamarine Duck tasted fresh and I really liked that they placed the sauce on the side where I could control the amount that I wanted on my food. It was crispy and sliced into thin pieces and very easy to eat. The Pad Thai Noodle was also a good choice and they gave you such a good amount of chicken and shrimp that within' each bite you had wasen't just noodle. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience here and if ever in the neighborhood I will definitely be stopping by here for either lunch or dinner!

After living in swarthmore for nearly 2 years and hearing good things about this restaurant I finally tried it. It was not good! The egg roll was ok, but my drunken noodles were mostly comprised of over cooked mushy veggies and huge chunks of tofu with a few noodle pieces. I was very disappointed I wasted a night out to dinner here. Even worse I became so nauseated a couple hours later I vomited up the remnants of what was yet to be digested. I can't believe how busy this restaurant was considering right down the road in Media are some fantastic restaurants, like spasso, ariano, iron hill brewery etc. Even bertuccis right across the street is incredible in comparison. If you're really yearning for Thai food I suggest taking the approximate 3 mile ride to folsom and eat at Viman on macdade blvd. It's pretty decent and won't make you sick to your stomach.

Needed to grab some lunch while cruising down the Pike of Baltimore, and I was in the mood for Thai. This place satisfied my Thai craving and had the added bonus of offering sushi! Lucky me! Decent lunch special got me some Tom Yum soup, spring roll, and Green Curry with Chicken. I was feeling ravenous, so I ordered the Spicy Salmon and Crunchy Avocado roll. Service was extremely quick, even when the server also played hostess. The food was good, but not as memorable as other Thai dishes I've had before. The Tom Yum soup was my favorite part of the meal - it was delish! The Green Curry had the perfect amount of heat. (When you order, you can let them know how spicy you want it.) Plus, sushi was fresh! Note that the portions are not lunch-sized, so take the leftovers home and savor the taste for a second time! The restaurant is clean, simple, and food is fresh and tasty. Prices are a bit more than your average, but for a quick lunch, it hit the spot!

Heng's Thai is a nice location, adequate parking as its in a shopping center off directly off Baltimore. The interior is nice, options of tables (most only seat four) with chairs or half booth styled with pillows. The pillows are nice and squishy. I liked the pillows most about this place. The wait staff was friendly, but all over the place. We easily saw 3-4 people from our server to food runner, to a check in and finally the check. They were all friendly, so naturally we tipped normally for friendly service, I just hope they tip out appropriately or pay their employees enough. As for the food, I'm giving two stars appropriately, I ordered two sushi rolls, my date had the curry. Both were very over priced for the amount and quality of food. I was given the impression they were going for an almost fine dining experience which they did not reach on any count. We normally head to Media for either sushi or Thai (Temaki or Noodi) but due to a disagreement we found this place to resolve our differences. As there aren't too many places in the area offering both sushi and Thai food, we were hopeful upon finding this joint. After browsing the menu hope diminished. It is a nice place, friendly staff, and average food. Despite that we've decided not to go back since the price isn't right. I wouldn't recommend stopping by with other options so close.

Service was really so-so. Waiter was friendly, good attitude, took our orders and got our drinks. Our appetizer came all in good time, but the food took quite a while. However, after our initial drinks were delivered, NO ONE came back to refill our drinks... I tried several times to get wait-staff attention, but finally managed to catch a waitress after 4 tries to refill our drinks. Same lack of attention when our food was finished - took a while to get the check and longer for them to come back and retrieve it. Not that I like to eat dinner in a rush, but I'm a waitress too and I check in with MY guests WAY more often. It was not even that busy this evening. Food was delicious! I highly recommend the thai steamed dumplings with pork and peanuts inside - yum! I had the drunken noodles (noodles were perfectly cooked and not mushy at all) and my husband had the pad thai, which he also enjoyed thoroughly. The thai iced teas were definitely on the sweet side, but still good. Atmosphere is very modern and sophisticated yet comfortable - great date place. Value - the food is quite expensive. I would say the taste is up to par though, and worth the $$, especially since they give you so much of it. We practically rolled out the front door. All in all, we'll probably return, and just ask for a pitcher of water next time.

I went with two other people and had to wait 15 mins before seating which is ok. Then I ordered their fried rice, pad thai and sushi. The fried rice was dry and bland! The pad thai was ok. Crying Tiger. What a great name for an appetizer! The image just pops into my mind every time. Of course one would assume that it's spicy and it is but in a good way. At $10 it is my favorite way to start a meal here. The steamed dumplings are also great and are the same price. My favorite main dish is Drunken Noodles ($15.00). It's a blend of spices and basil leaf stir fried with rice noodles, minced chicken and vegetables. Fifteen bucks is on the low end of the main dishes here. Some go as high as $21.00. Your tab shouldn't be too bad as Heng's is a BYOB. Expect friendly quick service in a nice atmosphere. Heng's is located in a very busy plaza that also has an Outback. The parking on weekend evenings is insanely bad. Actually it's even worse than that. I'd rather have a root canal than attempt this plaza on a Friday or Saturday night! Go during the week and you'll have a nice four star experience.

If only... That's usually how I feel after a mean at Heng's. The atmosphere is great and the food is okay-to-good, but their prices are maybe $5 too high per dish and there's an odd vibe for us when we eat there that I can't quite put my finger on. Still, they make the best Crying Tiger (spicy beef salad) in the area and they have a sushi bar. Parking can often be challenging since they're in the same shopping center as Outback and there are a limited number of spaces in a claustrophobic lot.

I've been here a couple times and I've always been satisfied. It's definitely the best Thai place in the Springfield area plus they also offer sushi and other Japanese dishes (I've yet to try them here). The inside looks nice. It gets pretty busy during the late weekend dinner hours and being a smaller place, there aren't many tables. Good thing they have take-out though! As far as the food: The Thai Iced Tea was decent. I've tried the The both the Pork and Shrimp Dumplings and the Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai with shrimp, Green, and Red Curry with chicken and was happy with all. I've mostly only had Thai in DC and NYC and never heard of selecting how spicy I wanted the dish but it was a nice added feature. Next time I hope to try the sushi or something from the Japanese menu. The prices were a little high but there's not much else to offer in the area as far as good Thai food. I still enjoy going here and definitely my go-to place when I want some Thai and I'm not down in Philly.

This place was highly recommended to me by my boss and his wife however they seem to not know much when it comes to Asian cuisine. My girlfriend ordered the Bangkok fried rice, which basically was oil soaked rice with pineapple and some other vegetables. She was barely satisfied only because of the portion size. I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai. I was briefed that they had a spicy scale 1-4, I ordered 4 and was warned that was extremely spicy and they are known for having the spiciest food, I gladly accepted the challenge and told them that was fine. Got my dish served sweet, not a tad spicy. I had to waive my waiter down about 15 minutes after being served and ask wether or not it was ordered correctly, he said he will double check. Went to the back and came back with a small dish full of spices and said that I could add more to my dish and mix it in as I see fit. Needless to say I added the whole dish before my food started to get the tiniest bit spicy. By this time my food was cold and the spiciest have soaked up all the oil and now i had to eat a crunchy barely spicy cold Thai noodle dish. It was horrible and the waiter paid no sympathy to it. I will never go back as long as their food is tasteless and soaked in oil.

Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. This was my first experience eating at this restaurant. The atmosphere is clean and cozy. We had ordered a few different apps, sushi rolls, and Thai entrees. The food was really delicious and the portions were large. I thought the price was reasonable for the six people in attendance (224.00 including gratuity). It is a BYOB so you definitely save costs in the alcohol department. I visited Heng's with two others on a weekday evening. We arrived around 6:45pm and found the restaurant to be about 40% full. The interior is decorated in a simple way and is unobtrusive, save for the TV mounted on the wall behind the sushi bar. As has been mentioned previously, the seating is pretty tight and I was confident that the tables surrounding us were able to hear our conversation just as easily as we could hear theirs. We were seated quickly and we began perusing the menus. We settled on dumplings and fried taro for appetizers, and I went with the Emerald Rice (green curry fried rice) as my entree. Our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly. The dumplings were decent (the cilantro garnish kicked it up a notch), but the taro was excellent. Evenly fried and served with a peanut sauce, it was very flavorful. Our entree's arrived and here was the only hitch in our service that evening. Two entrees arrived at once, while the third did not arrive for another six or seven minutes. This, IMO, is unacceptable. My entree however, was delicious. It was ordered as a two and was spiced accordingly. Just enough to loosen up the sinuses! The portion size was fantastic and I had enough to take home for dinner the following evening. The other two members of our party also had great things to say about their food as well. Overall, a really solid experience, with the exception of the entree delivery. I would definitely consider returning in the future.

Had lunch at Heng's last week and it was alright. I ordered tofu pad thai and it came with carrots and cauliflower. I honestly don't get how the past two Thai restaurants I've been to use these ingredients in their pad thai. The flavor wasn't bad, but it wasn't very spicy. Not a trace of it actually. When I asked if I could get it a little spicy, the waitress had to see if she could. My understanding is that pad thai is normally at least a little bit spicy... In conclusion, so-so pad thai which could definitely be improved on.

If you're in Delaware County (Springfield to be specific), and you're in the mood for Thai, I recommend Heng's Thai. The ambience is fairly simple. It's located in a shopping area with retail stores and other restaurants, so parking isn't bad. The last time I dined at Heng's was on a weekday. It was not crowded at all. Service was pretty good. I ordered the drunken noodles, which I had for the first time. My wife had shrimp pad thai. She had a little of mine and vice versa. We were both pleased with our meals. If you get a chance, try the iced tea with milk. Unfortunately, I can't recall the exact name of the drink, but I know for sure it is sweetened iced tea with milk. It was different, yet very tasty.

My family and I are...WERE regulars here. My mom especially likes it, so we decided to take her for Mother's Day dinner. We arrived at 6:45 and were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait for a party of five. We shivered in the frigid restaurant (my siblings had to go back to our car for jackets and they were still cold) for over half an hour before a party of ten who ARRIVED ten minutes after us (when we were supposed to be seated) who did not have reservations. I checked twice whether we were on the list and was assured by two separate staff members that we were, but when we spoke to the same staff members about the other party being seated before us, we were told there was a "miscommunication." The girl who originally put us on the wait list was completely unapologetic and rude and did not seem to care about losing our business. We definitely won't be returning, which is a shame. Don't come here for professionalism or good service.

Cute restaurant located in a popular shopping center. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the pretty decor, you can tell this restaurant is a little fancy, good for a romantic date or dressing up with girlfriends for a night out. Prices are a little high compared to other Thai food places I've been too, but the portions were fair and the quality of the food was good. I ordered the Masaman curry, a yellow curry with potatoes, peanuts, and cocunut milk. It was pretty good, though I can't say its the best I've had. I was surprised that the menu offered teriyaki dishes, which made my bf happy because he loves a good teriyaki sauce. He also ordered a roll of tempura sushi. He liked it, I can't say how good it was myself because I don't eat sushi. Overall everything was tasty, and I want to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Honestly, I don't know if the food is worth the prices though, so when we do come back it will probably be for a special occassion.

This restaurant serves delicious Thai food and sushi, and has a fresh and modern appeal. The Thai steamed dumplings, Pad Si-Eew, and Panang Curry are excellent choices. Hi, I went to Heng's Thai sometime last week. From the outside I thought this place couldn't possibly serve delicious food. Boy was I a dummie. My wife and I ordered: Thai Steamed Dumplings, Shrimp in Shell, Tamarind Duck, and the Pad Thai Shrimp. I'm going here later today and I don't think I'm going to change my order. I suppose I'm spoiled for having lived near Philadelphia's Tamarind and Lemongrass for so long, but I was left wanting a lot more from Heng's. I found the menu to be much more pricey than expected, the portions on the smaller side, and the service not very attentive. I actually never got the glass of water I asked for, nor did or server ever check in to see how our food was. The seating arrangements also leave a lot to be desired as we were practically in our neighbors' lap and, because of that, I had to listen to him ramble on about how more wealthy people are eating fast food nowadays. I also take issue with the amount of spice. I asked for the Drunken Noodles at about a 3.5 out of 4, and there was absolutely no trace of heat. Perhaps that was a server error, though. I really wanted to be impressed, given that it's very close to our house, but, ultimately, I left disappointed. I'm not sure I'll go back.

I've visited this restaurant twice and both times, I was pleased. The place is located on a strip mall, but don't let that fool you! The service is good, the atmosphere is nice and the food selection is excellent. For vegetarians, everything on the menu can be substituted with tofu (or none) and for spicy lovers, you can add or adjust the degree of spiciness of your dish. Overall, it was a good experience for me and my guests. Pros: Good service, cleanliness, atmosphere, good for vegetarians and spicy lovers (not spicy enough for me though!). Cons: I'd have to say they can do away without the TV. It's not a sports bar!

Always good, although they once made pad thai with rice instead of rice noodles -- but that was for take-out, and maybe Heng wasn't there. My only complaint is that menu is a bit on the limited side, and it never seems to change much. Definitely order "Thai steamed dumplings"; if you have kids, they will love these, too. We drove by this place a million times on the way to Gentile's before finally stopping one day for an early dinner. It was well worth it, and we returned many times while we lived in Media. When they day something is spicy, you better believe it... I am a spicy-coward type, but my wife, who lived in India for a while, can eat fire, and let me tell you that she was sweating away one night when she ordered one of the soups. I also like that they host artists and artwork so that the walls are always rotating with cool art.

Great choice for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner. Food quality and portions are great. Service staff are polite and helpful without being overly attentive. Be sure to try the Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Steam Dumplings to accompany your entree.

I guess we didn't have the great experience here that everyone else has enjoyed. Overall the food is fine, but it literally took an hour to arrive; three families cycled through the table next to us before we were served. But let's assume that that's a fluke. The tom yum was waaaay hotter than I've ever had it elsewhere, to the point of inducing tears. Other dishes, including spring rolls, dumplings and curries got 'ok' reviews, but were nothing to write home about. I'll assume that the service usually isn't horrible, and give this place three stars for being remotely decent food near Swarthmore.

There's really nothing not to love here - the thai is amazing, delicious, and interesting. The ambiance is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Like, wish-I-could-recreate-in-my-house beautiful. The servers are kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The portions are massive, the prices are reasonable. And BYOB to boot.

We went for a quick lunch during the weekday, and the overall experience was great! Since it was a Thai place after all, we stayed away from the sushi part of the menu; but the Thai was amazing. The service was very quick, the portions generous, atmosphere very welcoming. The interior is very nice also. I would definitely come back.

Amazing food. Best sushi in the area, by far. Friendly staff, casual to dressy attire. Prices are fair, service is great. I've been here over two dozen times and never had a bad meal. I always leave satisfied and with a doggie bag. The only thing I don't like is they WILL NOT substitute off the menu. I do not like one type of fish that comes with the sushi dish so it goes to waste because they won't swap out. Also, can't order a small side of fried rice or a shrimp tempura in an appetizer size (for my child). They are not very accommodating in that sense. Other than that - food and service is top quality.

Can't really get through 4 years of Swarthmore College without going to this place at least once, unless you're allergic to peanuts. This is comparable to some Thai restaurants I've been to in NYC. They have different levels of spiciness and even my friends who don't eat spicy foods enjoy meals at this place. Weekday lunch specials are great. Recommend: Green Curry with Chicken, Tom Yum Soup, Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai,Thai Iced Tea

Love the crispy taro, vegi soup, massaman curry, and a ruby Thai temple drink. After a long day of work, Heng thai never fails to satisfy my hunger. Great staff :)

I'm not a huge fan of strip mall restaurants, so I actually wasn't expecting much. But when I walked in, it was so adorable! Great service and amazing sushi. Although I usually get the sushi, I did try the chicken pad thai once and loved it... annnd the amazing fried banana dessert served w/ coconut ice cream. It's the only dessert they offer and the only dessert they need to offer! It's huge though, so share it! It has never been too crowded here, so I've never had to wait on a table. It's BYOB, so come prepared. I've come here several times and have made fans out of several of my friends along the way.

The drunken noodles were fantastic. The seafood noodle soup lacked flavor and all of the seafood was overcooked. The Pad Thai was not even average. The place was nice and very small. I doubt I'll go back

We ate at Heng's some months ago, and we were duly impressed. The curries were complex and didn't overpower the chicken or shrimp we ordered. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the vegetables were quite fresh, and elegantly prepared. The service was attentive, but not overly so, and quite professional. One additional nicety about Heng's is that it is a BYOB restaurant, and a number of guests seated at nearby tables were drinking their favorite beers or wines with dinner. The prices are reasonable, too. It's also a very comfortable and "metro" looking place, with a stylish interior and a relaxed and relaxing ambience.

This place is a well-kept secret that's kind of easy to miss while driving by. Its inauspicious location (squished between shops in a strip mall) belies its amazing cuisine. The menu has several pages of both Thai and Japanese dishes. We always get sushi (try the Heng Roll- incredible!) and soups/appetizers. The Kani salad and Crispy Taro are not to be missed. And as a BYOB, you can eat and drink without breaking the bank. Try it, you won't regret it!

I always expected, because of the location, that Heng's Thai was a little dumpy and unexciting, but I am happy to say I was wrong. Once you find a parking spot, which in the evenings is a little difficult because everyone's going to the Outback, you enter into a tranquil, semi styled out place. They have pretty sail-like sheets floating overhead, and a nice dimly lit interior. I got the Tom Kah soup, which hit the spot for my craving, and Tamarind Duck. The Duck was delightful and easy to eat. I chose to eat the savage way with my hands, because I'm a grown up and I can do whatever I want. My husband had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which he found to be very good as well. We usually choose to go to Noodi in Media, but I think we will now come here every once in a while to change things up. I like their menu, and when we want to go the Sushi way, I think there is a little more of a selection than Noodi.

Heng's has been a quality, go-to spot for me for quite some time now. My wife loves their drunken noodles. I try to get new stuff every time I go. The curries are all good. Beef salad is great. Both tom yum and tom kha soups are good. All food is fresh, not too heavy and very tasty. Sushi offerings are standard but very well done. Decor and lighting are very relaxing. Service is usually by committee. Spice requests can sometimes be a little random and erratic and parking is often a challenge. But the pros far outweigh the cons at this good to very good Thai spot. Make sure you take note of the yahoos who were waiting for a table outside the Outback just down the strip mall. Chances are they'll still be there on your way out of Heng's. Quite a common occurrence here in chain-restaurant-bloated Southern Delco.

Read great things on yelp about Heng's and thought we would try it out! We loved it! My husband had the Godzilla roll which he described as his sushi "nirvana" . It had tuna, avocado , roe , cucumber and it was crunchy and spicy.. Wrapped in rice paper.. He loved it .. Huge portion .. Now we know why the roll was expensive. It was enough for two. I had green curry with shrimp. I picked 3 out of 4 for the spice factor and it was perfect! The dish had a nice mixture of perfectly cut veggies and white rice. Delicious! It is BYOB so bring your bottle and enjoy!

Best Thai food I have found in the greater DelCo/Mainline area. Great price point and I love that it's BYOB. We have been here many times - the food is always wonderful. We have also visited there other location in Newtown Square which is equally as good.

Heng's Thai is certainly impressive when it comes to the decor, menu, and ingredients. I always get excited to come here because it seems kind of fancy and the prices are enough to make dining here a "special occasion". When I see the menu it takes me a while to decide because all the dishes sound very good. I think last time I got the Pad Thai, asking for a 2 out of 5 (or maybe 4?) in spiciness (made me feel a little silly, but that's how they do it.) The servers are accommodating and helpful though, allowing my mom to turn her dish into a Frankenstein concoction of nuts, ginger, and various green vegetables. While eating, I felt like the dish should have been better than it was, but it just didn't add up to the sum of its parts. It also seemed a little too spicy. I expected something generally mild but with a bit of a kick while this had me reaching for my Thai iced tea with every other bite. I don't consider myself a spice wuss either, I love putting hot sauce or red pepper flakes in just about everything. Speaking of the Thai iced tea, it is very good. Creamy, sweet, and flavorful. That, and they always do a cute little design with the top of the straw. Even so, I still enjoy my visits to Heng's, especially since it's the only Thai place in Springfield and probably the best Asian food in Delco but outside of Media. It'll definitely satisfy a Thai craving you may have and if it were cheaper I'm sure I'd come here more often.

As a Thai person myself, it is always hard to find a restaurant in the surburban area with a great authentic taste.. but Heng's Thai really hits the spot. I've eaten at Heng's so many times over the years, and I have never been disappointed with their food. They are famous for their Thai Steamed Dumplings and Crispy Taro --two dishes that are perfect to start out with. In terms of entrees, I definitely recommend their Drunken Noodles, Kanom Bueng (stir-fried coconut wrapped in a crepe), and Curries. I just had their Chilean Sea Bass the other day --an off menu special-- and it was perfectly pan-seared and covered in their red curry sauce. I loved that it came with healthy sides of brown rice and seaweed salad. There are so many other healthy options on the menu, as well as their integration of Japanese cuisine. Their specialty rolls are especially good. If you are going with a party, go with the Godzilla and/or Volcano roll since the portion is large and are good to share. Be sure to save room for dessert! Their Coconut ice cream which is apparently homemade is to die for! I LOVE their "Banana Combo" --Coconut ice cream served over sweet fried bananas. The price range is moderate to expensive. Appetizers run from $3 to $10, and entrees are about $14+. It is not a cheap restaurant, but a place that is both casual and classy. If you want to try it out and the price is drawing you back, I recommend dining in during lunch. Their specials are great! Overall, if you are looking for a place that is romantic, has amazing food, is kid-friendly, and accommodating, Heng's Thai is the place to be.

Heng and Noi have been part of the restaurant scene in Philly for many years, and when they moved to the burbs I was saddened. I've been to all their spots over the years, like Mano's and Thai Garden West in West Philly and Thai Garden East and Taste Of Thai in Center City. I remember back in the day I used to buy a dry aged, US Prime steak from Harry Och's in the Reading Terminal and take over to Noi and Pam to grill for me for my lunch. It was perectly done accompanied with grilled snow peas and grilled pineapple with a spicy steak sauce (I'm tearing up!") All thefood was prepared well. His new spot is more of the same and they serve Sushi too. And if you ever feel sick, cold, flu, headache or even just the blues, ask Noi to make you a bowl of Tom Yum Soup with extra garlicand extra, extra hot peppers add in. Guarrins Ballbearins it will cure whatever ails you, especially a nasty hangover!

I was highly disappointed with their sushi. It was very blah. Also I felt for the amount of money I spent on the sushi, the rolls could have been a bit bigger. Small tasteless rolls are not my ideal meal. I have had better sushi at Fresh Grocer!

Heng's Thai is great. The food is very good and want to know a secret? Their sushi and sashimi are always fresh and delicious. A great appetizer is the peanut dumplings. The Japanese is very good as well. The atmosphere is nice and the service is excellent and everyone is very friendly and helpful. I love hengs.

Quite tasty! I really enjoyed the papaya salad as well as the pad Thai and other entrees. Nice ambiance, comfy seating, albeit the tables seeming a bit small for the number of dishes my girlfriend and I ordered. We were there on a Sunday night, so it was quiet, nearly dead. The service was quite nice, though. I noticed there was a sushi menu, too, but I didn't bother, because I was there for Thai.

My husband and I go to Heng's off and on in spurts. The food is good and the service is so-so (usually pretty good, but some visits we have waited a while for our food and water refills). We usually get the sushi and a hot entree. The sushi is on the better side of the sushi you can get in delco- warning- if you order the spicy tuna- it is SPICY. (they don't do the mayo deal- it's a tuna roll covered in hot sauce). The entrees that my husband and I have ordered are usually pretty good, no complaints about taste. The atmosphere is cute and the staff is always very friendly. The only downside is that it's a bit pricy, especially for Springfield, but otherwise a good place to go for a good meal.
