Always a good meal. Good Beer selection. Great locally owned place.

Don't know what people are complaining about. I've been here several dozen times and it's always a nice experience. It's not downtown Manhattan, or LA, it's berks county. Good food, fair pricing, pleasant family service. Highly recommend one tries them out.

One of my fave local bars, however they recently switched from serving nachos and buffalo chicken dip with tortilla chips that were tasty but way too salty, to serving it with some sort of homemade potato chip. They now call nachos "border chips" and I must say these just don't mesh well with the buffalo chicken dip or topped with nacho toppings...buffalo chicken dip is super delicious but slightly greasy as is any buffalo chicken dip, but serving it with greasy potato chips is not the answer. The homemade chips on their own are tasty, better served with a sandwich. So disappointed in my apps tonight! I asked for tortilla chips but they don't have any. :(

Formerly Maxie's Carsonia Inn, an area institution, now a local burger spot. They are building a deck outside, in front, and seem to love being in the neighborhood from their Fb page. Wish they still had the Cuban-influenced dishes (from a previous owner) that seemed to stick around for about a decade and were fantastic: Cuban Bread Salad, beans & rice, etc. It was nice to see the sweet cook Jack remaining there -- is he still? Someone, maybe Jack, saved the Cuban Cigars. Check out their back room for old pictures of Carsonia Park (1896-1950) a real amusement park with coasters, log flumes, etc., which once stood nearby this spot a long time ago, before it became a Whitman Builders housing development. (The only building left is the Carsonia Park beer hall, which is now Anthony's Trattoria.) And they did a nice job restoring the giant Victorian painting/mural of the old park. I plan to write a book on this park someday and work on a historical district designation for the neighborhood. The menu marks vegetarian choices with a V, nice to see. Vegans: drinks only, except for fries and a white lettuce salad and a few side dishes (mandarin oranges and pineapple is interesting), so you will probably have to put the V-veto on this place when your group is deciding where to go. Nice to see an Asian vinaigrette salad dressing, which is the most exotic this place gets. If there was a good portobello burger and some more stuff with avocadoes, I'd eat here. Wine by the glass is cheap (and well below average; just get the chardonnay and stay away from the reds). It's more of a beer place. There is Guinness on draft as well as a Sam Adams Seasonal, which sometimes have some flavor, but the rest of the drafts are corporate bores. So I can't really get my bf to go in here (understandably), but when I walk by, it always looks like fun (even though you can no longer see in the atrium-style windows). The parking lot is always full in the evenings. I sometimes feel you have to lower your standards a bit for Berks County, and he sees it differently, a perspective I benefit from. :-) This would be a great cheap *locals* gathering spot except for all the distracting tvs. Oh for the time when people went out to meet others and discuss ideas, politics, culture...

4th time here 3rd for lunch. The cream of broccoli was too salty. Last time with the NE clam chowder the clams were weak & the soup was gritty and not as thick as it should be. The napkin on my lap got stuck to gum under bar. The bar maid was friendly but her service was sub par e.g., should have brought salt, pepper, ketchup etc...with silverware. My glass sat empty so long I was done eating by the time she asked if I wanted a refill. The burgers are good but all else is not consistent, the fires are lousy, add to that poor service, I'll only go there if I have to. Much improved. Soups are enjoyable and the burgers are a hit. The black & blue burger (Cajun seasoning & crumbled blue cheese) w/sweet potato fries & caramel sauce is my go to order.

Have eaten here twice. Amazing food both times. Best chili ever!! Also got the jerk pork sandwich. Amazing! Ciabatta roll out of this world and the flavor combo is spot on. BF loved the turkey melt. I've also had the Pittsburgh salad. OMG. Can't even stand how good it was. Almost licked the plate. We also did a beer flight which, if you've never done one, give it a try! They only have about 7 craft beers to pick from so if you dine with someone else, you can share and easily try every one. The service is also wonderful. Nicest people ever! Clean and bright bathrooms. Can't wait to go here again!

It's a bar with an older demographic - BUT the happy hour apps are a good deal and the tuna salad pita is the best - good wings too, with nice spicy favors and meaty wings. It is a local pub, which means lots of regulars - that is not a bad thing, but sometimes loud and "insider". We have only been there for happy hour - so can't speak for late night

One of our favorite local spots. The staff is always very friendly and the food is great. We have never been disappointed with a meal and love the reasonable prices. It can be a bit loud at times, especially if there is a sporting event happening, but most of the time it is a very enjoyable environment. This is our go-to place for pub food and would definitely recommend to anyone!

I've usually only been here for a late night quick drink or dinner with my family, but last Tuesday I went to trivia with some friends and had a really great time! If you are an avid trivia player then this place on a Tuesday night at 9:00 pm is the place for you! Their trivia game is very intricate and you must really play the game strategically to win. It is definitely based on your knowledge, but more so on your ability to play the game. We had a team of 6 people, which it definitely seemed wiser to play with a large team, and we were able to pick up on the rules pretty well our first time around. There are playing cards you can enforce throughout the game, rolling dice for new points every round, and bonus end rounds, as well as, a bonus halftime. Throughout the night the bar offers drink specials, and points are added to your score if you purchase the special. The first place winners of the game received a gift certificate for winning, as well as, second place. The atmosphere is a little different than most bars, and not a typical hangout for the younger crowd, but it does seem to attract an eclectic crowd.

Whatever you do do not order any of their burgers. They are gross! !! Which is ironic because on the menu it says something about them being voted the best burger. They are far from it. However they have a delicious brownie sundae. The taco salad is also good with house dressing and good sweet potato fries. Some of their items are overpriced though.

I will make this quick. Extremely overpriced. Fat, disgusting, sweaty cook. That you can even SEE. Yuck. Decor looks like it was purchased from a McDonalds estate sale. (Replaced solid wood tables and chairs with plastic-topped "modern" tables. One of the owners is a "hoverer," and kind of creepy. I don't like being talked to while eating. Food... Terrible. Cajun Pasta was store bought rotini noodles, Alfredo sauce, and a sprinkle of McCormick Cajun seasoning. No peppers, onions, vegetables.... Just terrible. And I believe it cost over $10. For pasta? I kid you not... Cheesesteaks are barely large enough to satisfy a 12 year old girl. Wings taste good, great sauces...but price is outrageous. "Pub" fries cost more than the wings, and was probably made with a single potato...and had a spoonful of cheese and some freakin bacon bits. One of the worst places in the area. You'd have to be drunk to think this place was tolerable. Oh that's right, everyone in there IS smashed.

I wrote a review a few months ago about being disappointed with the quesadillas being changed and the owner actually responded to me and explained the need for the change! Pretty cool of him. I'm impressed.

We really like Klingers on Carsonia (we eat there all the time)! Food is pretty good, prices are good too, but atmosphere is even better. It's a friendly, fun place to eat and hang out. Not too expensive. Hope it stays this way!
