Nick's is, admittedly, somewhat unusual in that the menu consists basically of hamburgers and cheeseburgers - each of which is served on a hot dog bun. The benefit of the specialization is self-evident when you first taste one. My kids had 3-4 each (they are priced more like sliders), the missus and I both had more. The kids thought these were the best burgers they ever had, although they tend towards hyperbole when happy. Definitely worth a stop if in Punxsutawney. One downside: the bathroom requires a key which I don't like and I deducted a star accordingly.

People in Punxsutawney PA rave about this place. My first thought when we walked in was that the 4 of us, tourists, had fallen victim to a local prank and that it was a town joke to send the unsuspecting into the diner. I think it is more of a "local" thing. But, the wait staff was kind of rude and the decor and attitude of the people in the restaurant give off a "shut up and just like it" vibe. The food was underwhelming. It was essentially a taco on a low quality hot dog bun. It was edible, and it did not kill me. But I am not sure why people make a return visit.

This is Punxsutawney's favorite lunch spot, and the only place I know of where the hamburger comes in a hotdog bun. Order a few; they're about the size of a McDonald's regular burger. They have hotdogs, too. The beer selection is very good. Be patient, because Nick is usually the only cook and the whole town shows up hungry at the same time. Actually, if he's backed up he'll probably tell you to go away and come back in 45 minutes. Go down the street and check out the Weather Center while you're waiting.

I have been getting these burgers since I was a little kid at Carlino's. Every time we visit my Gram in Pennsylvania, we make a special trip to Punxsy just to go to Nick's. My go to is two cheeseburgers with extra sauce, pickles and onions. Of course, these aren't your traditional burgers. It's loose ground beef, slice of cheese, a thin pickle spear and chopped onions on a hot dog bun. Now some people may cry out burger blasphemy when they see it, but it is delicious and it is a Punxsy tradition. I seriously crave these things now and wish I could make them at home since I live 3000 miles away but their sauce is a secret and we haven' t been able to convince Nick the ingredients of that special concoction.

Anyone visiting Punxsutawney needs to stop at Nick's! Nick's Corner Lunch is a Punxsy tradition that is very simplistic: hamburgers and hotdogs. There are millions of burger and dog joints around the world, but Nick's burgers are unique. Instead of a ground-beef patty, the burger consists in loose ground beef, like taco meat, cooked with cheese and placed in a hotdog bun. The burger comes with a variety of condiments, but make sure to order the famous sauce on top! So stop in grab a burger and dog along with a beer!

Their hot dogs and unique hamburgers made me say "more" today- recommend this place if you don't mind the lack of variety but like hamburgers and hot dogs.Only place I've been that has burgers in hot dog buns!!!

Great place for lunch, dinner, anytime! Hot dogs are great, and the unique burgers are a Punxy tradition dating back to the Carlino family. Try them with everything which includes a thin slice of dill pickle. If there are more than 5 people in there be prepare for the "it will be 45 mins" line from NIck. I think he loves that phrase as I sat down and was served in about 15-20 mins. Great sandwiches, and super prices. A nice place to try the local fare.
