This is the best pizza in Delco! Amazing sauce with lots of flavor combined with the freshest cheese! The dough is perfect. Not to thin not to thick just right.

Picked up a pie here for the Super Bowl. I've never been here before and I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. I had the white with broccoli and ordered it for pickup at 6:15. I showed up at 5:30 and they had no problem shoving me to the beginning of the line. I'll be back

If this isn't your favorite pizza it's because you never ate here before. However, I'd read the review of that chick Erin two below for shits and gigs.

Well I been livening in Clifton all my life and seen pizza shops come and go . I got two pizzas a white and a red and to tell u the truth if it wasn't for the fresh toppings I'd take it back , very bland pizza , I think they need to try something new .and I hope they do I'd hate to see them go away , lord nos we don't need a new nail saloon that's probley all that would fit there , good luck guys please try harder !!

Gaetano's is the best pizza I've ever tasted anywhere. One guy I work with told me another places pizza was just as good. I'm thinking about turning him in to be drug tested or for a psych eval. He's either been smoking crack or he lost his mind. THERE'S NO PIZZA ANYWHERE THAT COMPARES TO GAETANO'S.

This is the Pizza/Tomato Pie that the American Soldiers found in Italy; not those grilled cheese monstrosities sold by the chains. Pizzeria Type Pie, where the sauce and the fresh dough make the pie. Cheese was a hint back then and slices, not mounds of it. A simple sauce, good for everything and everything tastes good under it. Not overpowering, in the Restaurant World they say: Sauce covers a lot of mistakes; it would be a mistake to have never tasted this Sauce. Returning G.I.'s to Kansas City, Jersey, the Big Apple and all points in between; loved this pie, and made it an American Staple for eating out or bringing home on the way from work. Seasoning was, and still is, simple, Toppings never over the top. Tradition means something at Gaetano's. They can put lesser cheese on your pie, if requested. Hit-men from an old episode of Starsky and Hutch would love this pie! Place an order for a pie and when you come home to eat your pie, Google that episode; see if you tube can play it back for you; maybe you will agree with what they said: THIS is pizza, not a grilled cheese sandwhich. You get what you pay for at Gaetano's, here you get Pizza. Or as some of us remember it, Tomato Pie. That Starsky and Hutch Episode mentioned was the Pilot/Episode 1.

This is absolutely the best pizza around if not in Philadelphia as a whole. Unique, high quality-- the cheese is the best. Nice, slightly tart sauce. The crust is thick/thin. It's a little crisp on the bottom, but airy and on the thicker side. Overall, I like it. I've raved about it and got it for my mom and friends-- they weren't always crazy about it but no one said it was BAD. They sell tons of homemade pastas, lasagnas, and sauces by the pound and quart as well. Great prices, good organized service.

  • Andrew M.

Very good pizza. I love the sauce. The only think that keeps me from giving a higher rating is the super-thick crust. The tomato sauce is fantastic and the style of pizza is great. They load the sauce on heavily on top of the cheese and it tastes great. All around good pizza.

  • Tara M.

The best pizza I have had so far. The sauce is delicious. This pizza is cheese on the bottom and sauce on top. So if you Like that kind of pizza then you are in for a treat. They dont deliver and they do have off hours but its worth the trip.

I haven't review Gaetano's yet? It must have been due to the fact that their pizza drugs me. That's right, the first taste of a Gaetano's pizza completely shuts down my brain, and my brain's connection to my stomach, letting it know of the "Getting Full Warning" disappears. It can be as simple as a medium plain pizza or a large clam pizza dripping in red wine sauce. Slice after slice slides down my gullet and when I come to, I realized that I ate 5 out of the 8 slices on my own...and I still have room for more. What makes this truly scary is that I don't feel like crap afterwards. You know that crap feeling you get after eating junk food? Not here Not even after a whole pie. Because Gaetano's isn't crap. Those words "Freshest ingredients" holds true here. I love their cockiness and their dedication to their craft.

Anytime I can SEE fresh basil in my sauce, that's a great sign!!! Sauce=5 stars...crust=4.5 stars (kinda on the thicker side, but not enough to turn my chunky monkey butt away!)...cheese=3.5-4 stars. It was a delicious pie don't get me wrong, but the cheese was a bit off...gummy...rubbery...you know the texture I mean...like is pizza cheese could TASTE "shiny" - this would be it. That being said...it was daggone good. Don't let my cheese snobbery deter you.

My husband I moved to Springfield 2 years ago and have not been able to find great pizza close by. A friend told me about Gaetano's and we tried it for the first time tonight. EXCELLENT! The cheese is baked right into the crust and the delicious sauce is put right over top. It's a perfect balance of sauce and cheese, and I even ate the crust which I never do! If you are in Delaware County, check out Gaetono's. You won't be disappointed!

  • Larry M.

The pizza is simply the best better then all the rest!

  • John P.

This by far is the best pizza in Delaware County and maybe the entire Philadelphia area. From the absolutely delicious crust to the cheese on the bottom and sauce on the top, this pizza is superb! The 3 cheese pizza is to die for, you can't go wrong here!!

    (5)
  • Christa M.

This pizza is to die for! When I first moved down to this area my boyfriend got this pizza or me to try. At first I was thinking wait where's the cheese? But that's the best part. The cheese is under the amazing sauce. And the crust is just perfect. Best pizza I've had in Delaware county. If you haven't tried this pizza yet you seriously need to get in your car and go now! You won't regret it.

At first bite you can taste freshness in the ingredients. Their upside down style pizza is absolutely delicious. 5 stars all the way!

We ordered two pies last night. The bad thing about this place is they have off hours and they do not deliver. Make sure they are open before you go there. You have to pick up your pizza or eat there. There was a 45 min wait. So, we had the white pizza with 3 cheeses and the traditional pie. The white pizza was very good...loved the strong garlicy flavor. The crust was a thick crust...not too think. It was nice bc it was a light and airy thick crust. It was the best white pizza that I've had in Delco so far. As for the traditional pizza...they make a great sauce...best I've had in Delco too. They put .a thick layer of cheese on the bottom and the sauce was laid on top. I kind of wish it would have been more of a blend though. I wouldn't rate it the best pizza I ever had but it was good. The next day, however, I put it in the toaster and it was the best next day pizza I ever had everrrrr! lol.

  • Erin S.

My favorite pizza in delco! Service could be friendlier but honestly, the pizza is all that matters for a place like this. Just remember its cash only and you'll be just fine

  • Michael K.

this place might be good for locals, but if you're interested in a quick slice, go elsewhere. N O S L I C E P I ES is it that hard to cook a pie and leave it sit there? really?

    (2)
  • Sheila F.

There is no comparison to Gaetano's pizza! The white pizza with clam sauce is heavenly! All of the pies are delicious, having the best crust in the Philadelphia area! The crust is cripsy and delicious and the pies are always piping hot when you get them home. BEST PIZZA IN THE PHILADELPHIA AREA!

Great pizza that's worth dealing with the tiny parking lot. I'm not Italian but this is what I'm guessing is legit Italian pizza. Very fresh ingredients. I got the veggie and it had huge chunks of green bell peppers, onions, broccoli, etc.. that were perfectly cooked. They tasted as if they were covered in olive oil before they were put on the pizza. The sauce is plentiful, chunky and very flavorful...and on top of the cheese ala Chicago style. The cheese itself tasted like cheese and not grease. It was stretchy and aromatic when hot. It also didn't break apart in chunks when cold like the cheap cheese does. The crust is hearty but not too thin with a chewy crust. It's not thin crust by any means but it's also not too thick either. I've also had the plain cheese which is as cheesy and delicious as it gets. Plenty of sauce, on top, which really gives the savory sauce a chance to shine. There aren't a ton of options to choose from but the ones they do have are great. I don't think they need to change at all. I vote this the best pizza in Delaware County. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but certainly the best I've had out this way. There is another location on Baltimore Pike but it's only open on weekends. I suggest you go to this location in Primos which is also right off of Baltimore Pike in the Clifton Heights area. Take Out Only, no place to eat in.

  • Emily S.

Love, love, love this pizza. My husband and I can't get enough of it! A little on the pricey side so we use it more for "special occasions" but still worth it. Would be SO HELPFUL if they took credit or debit cards. I rarely have cash on me so it's often a hassle to ensure that I do. But still. Most amazing pizza I've ever had. Hands down!

A very interesting pie- definitely different from other Delco pies. As others have noticed the cheese is on the bottom. The dough is not hand tossed, but flattened and machine rolled. It's then placed in a rimmed pan where one person places the mozzarella-type cheese directly on the dough and then sprinkles it with grated cheese. The sauce and pepperoni follow. There is plenty of cheese and I think the flattened dough rises a bit in the pans before it finds its way to the oven. The crust as a result has an interesting texture. The sauce tastes more like spaghetti sauce to me and there is a lot of it on the pie. A large pie is definitely smaller than my local place. They run this place on a system and I think people who go here know it, understand it, and accept it. At 6:25 on a Wednesday night, it took 35 mins to get a pie for pick up. It's cash only. Service is neither rude nor pleasant - order, wait, pickup, pay, and go. I'm not sure I like the pie or that I would return but I had to try. Definitely would not go out of the way for it.

  • Angela A.

Riddle me this Gaetano's...where have you been all my life? You can taste the quality and freshness in every bite. Delicious for no reason alt all. Too, anytime there's a 20-25 min gap between your pie's oven exit and lid-lift and cheese pull moment, and it's still hot and stretchy, you have clearly obtained quality. I'll be back (Terminator voice)...

    (4)
  • Jerry C.

Make no mistake, Same as the one on Baltimore Pike, which means just as good! Always stop by when I'm visiting to be sure to get a 4 cheese pie... Best pizza in the world!

  • Jeannette A.

Wow! This is great, let me say it again GREAT pizza! The fresh homemade sauce covers the sliced melty cheese, on top of the delicious crispy crust! I love this pizza, and it's even great cold the next day(if there's any left) they will even under cook it a little if you ask so i can take to my shore house or to out of town realatives who used to live near by and ask me to bring it to them! They have 2 locations, but i prefer this one cause it's open 7 days a week instead of thurs- sat. They also have a store connected where you can buy their sauce and different pastas and meals. Be prepared to call at least 20 min ahead of time especially during lent or a friday night, but it's worth it! You can tell the staff take pride in putting out a good product! THANK YOU GAETANOS!

  • Michael B.

Amazing pizza. Been going here for twenty plus years and hasn't changed a bit. My family loves the white pizza with broccoli, i always go for the three cheese. I can't think of any way to make it better, sauce is tangy, cheese is kind of sharp, and crust is a little bit crunchy on the outside and a whole pie can feed a family.

    (5)
  • Chrissy G.

Greatest. Pizza. Ever. Cash only - no delivery - closed when they go on vacation. When you get a craving for this pizza there is nothing that can satisfy you until you get the real thing. Their pasta shop next door is also great. Sparse, but they sell their own sauce and the frozen ravioli, stuffed shells, gnocchi, etc are out of this world. Check this place out - the only regret you will have is that you didn't try it sooner.

  • J V.

This place delivers the BEST combination of the Holy Trinity (Sauce, cheese & bread.) I will never enjoy another pizza as much as their plain one.

I drive a half hour to get Gaetanos. People there are cool too. Put some red hot pepper flakes on it and forget about it

  • Megan M.

Cheese on the bottom, sauce on top, heaven. This is my FAVORITE pizza. I live in Fishtown but drive here just to grab this pizza. The homemade sauce is just right- not too sweet, very fresh tasting... and the cheese on the bottom melts into the crust and gives the pizza an amazing texture and flavor. I'd like a slice (or two) right now, please.

  • Dan L.

If you've had Pica's, this pizza is similar in style (sauce on top as just about everyone else has pointed out), but it's slightly thicker and is round with some classic crust around the rim. After reading all these reviews my expectations were really high. I called in and arrived when they told me to. The pie was ready when I got there. If you're not paying close attention you'll probably drive right by the place. I was using GPS and still almost passed by. After the 20 minute ride home to Havertown, I opened the box. The pizza was no longer piping hot. I had thoughts of heating it back up, but I was too impatient. I had to try it. One bite and...oh. my. goodness. These yelpers weren't lyin. This pizza is the real deal. Pretty sure this is my first 5-star pizza rating. My only complaint is that my kids liked it too much and I only got two slices because of it. I already can't wait to go back.

    (5)
  • Frank C.

My favorite pizza in the world. Not for everyone but it's the real deal. Should try it at least once. No credit cards so bring cash. No delivery so you have to pick it up. I could eat their pizza every day of the week.

Cash only, best pizza in delco! They are a miserable bunch over there but the foods SOOO good who cares

  • Matt C.

I heard so much about this place from a friend of mine that I was dying to try it. Well, it was totally worth the wait because it is amazingly delicious! I love any kind of "inside-out" pizza, but, wow! Nothing I have ever had tastes likes gaetano's! The sauce is wonderfully tangy with chunks of tomatoes, the cheese was a delicious blend that melted right into the crust and the dough was almost like a deep dish but not as dense. All in all, a perfect blend of ingredients! My only gripe is that they do not have any tables and I suspect, like most pizza, once it gets cold, it loses a lot of its delicious characteristics. I will definitely go back, but be warned, it's cash only!

    (4)
  • Lee P.

Love the sauce and crust! Not as wild about the slices if cheese they use instead of shredded cheese. Still worth the novelty of sauce on top!

    (3)
  • Jason S.

By far the best pizza I have ever had. I could literally just eat a bowl of their delicious sauce. Everything is so fresh and so spectacular. My taste buds explode when I take my first bite.

    (5)
  • Francis O.

I wouldn't describe it as customer friendly, cash only, minimal parking, narrow menu, but the pizza is REALLY good. You really ought to try this.

    (4)
  • Dustin C.

Not real sure what the buzz is all about here? The pizza itself was super greasy but the sauce tasted good, very saucy. I looked through all the raving reviews and figured I could not go wrong here. Well, I feel like I went wrong. Also, why in the hell do they not take a credit card or debit card?!? its 2015, get with it!!!!!

    (3)
  • Brian P.

If you don't like this pizza it's safe to assume you are a raging crackhead or ate lead paint chips as a child.

  • Aimee T.

Best pizza in all of Delco without a doubt. No one can tell me different I will stand by that fact til the day I die. It is absolutely delicious and no other pizza place compares.

  • Eric R.

My two kids hate it , and it's my fault completely, after eating Pizza Hut,Dominos,Chucky Cheese, papa johns, and Little Ceasears, for 7 years they don't know good food if it was under there nose. I decided to switch it up one weekend and go to Geatanos this was the best tasting pizza I have ever had period point blank !!!!!!'

Some of the best Pizza I've had. Since moving to Delco I've been looking for good pizza. This is the best I've found so far. The sauce is very good.

  • Matt P.

I'm a pretty tough pizza critic. But this is simply the best pizza I've ever tasted. The whole pizza is baked in a pan. The crust is a tad thicker than your typical NY style, but I wouldn't considered it panned (like an Uno's or Chicago style). The crust comes out perfect, almost semi-caramelized. On top of the crust, a layer of mozzarella cheese sits on top of the crust with the perfect amount of cheese - it's not greasy at all. They put the sauce on top of the cheese! And the sauce is simply a home run. It's fresh, delicious - no strange seasonings with bad aftertastes and it's not chunky (and I'm okay with chunky sauce BTW). It's thicker than your average pizza sauce. Then they add a little parm blend on top, it's subtle but it just adds a tiny bit of awesomeness. I've had this pizza 20+ times and I don't live close (1 hr+). I've made runs a few times each year just to pick it up for my family and co-workers. I don't bother with toppings either. Why ruin a great thing? If it was closer to home, I'd probably experiment with some toppings and get super fat. The staff is kind of reminds me the people you interact at Philly steak places, kind of arrogant because they know they are doing you a favor by providing something phenomenal. But they respect your choice to buy 3 or 4 pizzas at a time. Thank you Gaetano's for ruining my pizza experience everywhere else. P.S. - Pizza is also great cold and/or at room temperature. Cash only/no single slices and you can only do pickup.

Best pizza. I make sure I get pizza to take co to Maryland every time I am home. Tripple cheese, home made gravy. Delicious!

  • Michael H.

This is pizza done right. I picked up a pizza from them when I was passing through Philadelphia, and I was quickly reminded of another thing (besides cheese steaks) that are done right in Philly: pizza. And Gaetano's is honest-to-goodness Philadelphia pizza.

Many years ago, a former manager of mine would bring in Gaetanos pizza for us as a treat. I remembered it as being pretty wonderful and often asked...begged...that he bring more. He waived it off by saying that it was a hard place to get pizza from. He wasn't kidding. More recently, after remembering the name (I really had to brainstorm) I found the location on Baltimore Pike and trekked out. Mid afternoon on a weekday it was closed. I went on a few other occasions at different times and days and it was still closed (yet it looked like a functioning pizzeria inside). I had pretty much given up on that heartbreak and sought out inferior yet available pizzas in the area. A good metaphor for my love life as well. Even more recently, I was informed that there was another flagship location in Clifton Heights, that seemed to have more reasonable hours. Getting transferred to Upper Darby at my day job cemented that I'd soon get my mitts on that pizza again. Last week it happened. I went in on a rainy Friday afternoon and ordered a medium sausage. It was a little expensive at about $15 but their medium is pretty much a large anywhere else. My 5 star review reflects my verdict. It was definitely worth the wait and lived up to how good my memory inflated it. It's hard to describe the pizza other than to say you need to try it. The place had more of a family feel to it than a restaurant one. I enjoyed hearing their banter while I waited. I definitely need to have more and share the experience with others. Hat tip to my old manager Kevin.

  • Gina M.

This place is weird. Sometimes the pizza is absolutely fantastic....sometimes it actually tastes like cleaning solution. Pine-Sol comes to mind. My husband thinks that Friday and Saturday nights are the best time to get it because the ovens are being used nonstop....not sure if that is accurate or not, but the pizza does seem to taste better on the weekends and lemony fresh during the week, so maybe. In summary....Get it, but get it on a weekend.

  • Christine P.

Really good pizza!! Thicker than "normal" crust. Cash only and dont get offended with no customer niceness. Get ur pizza and go!!

    (4)
  • Michelle L.

The best pizza I've ever had in my life. I get the three cheese pizza, not the regular pizza and it's amazing!!! I drive an hour for it a few times a month from NE philly and it's worth the drive everytime. Crust is thicker than a traditional pizza with the three cheese and the sauce is on top. Cash only no online menu... who cares! Anyone who says their three cheese pizza isn't good doesn't know good pizza !

    (5)
  • Kelly K.

Great pizza - it is my boys favorite but professionalism when you pick up your pizza is awful. My husband usually picks up our pizzas but when I did the one man was cursing and complaining the whole time I was there which made me very uncomfortable and not crazy about spending our money there... Hopefully this was a one time thing.

    (4)
  • Glen D.

I'm going to make a bold statement here, but this might very well be my favorite pizza shop in Delco! Their pizza is simply the best. The three cheese is incredible! And during lent I highly recommend their white clam pie. If you want one I recommend calling in your order earlier in the day as they usually run out of clams pretty quick.

  • Erin B.

um, are people here in Clifton Heights that far removed from society that they think this pizza is so great? After reading all the raving reviews we had to try this place, its right in our 'hood. I was sadly disappointed. After all the 5 star glowing ratings, what i discovered was thick airy flavorless crust, lots of sauce, and barely tasted any cheese. Now i am an extra cheese girl myself, and i have no problem with sauce topped pizza, but i like to taste my cheese. Pretty much everything was overpowered with the realllllllly thick bland crust. The sauce wasnt special, the service wasnt special, and they certainly arent the first people to put sauce on top of pizza. maybe people just like it for the novelty, or maybe they just think they are supposed to like it and dont want to be naysayers? well nay, i say. flavor aside, they have no website, no online menu. When i called to find out what toppings i could get on my pizza they guy on the phone acted like i was stupid. we wanted any non-pork meat topping (which they dont have) and didnt have any of the list of toppings we desired that also included vegetables. then i asked if they had anything else (as i hadnt been there before going solely on yelp reviews and a quick drive past) such as breadsticks, apps, sandwiches etc. Nope. i also asked if you could order pizza and pasta together since they have that pasta place next door. Nope again. when arriving, the place looked disheveled and the staff was neither warm nor friendly. when asking for a takeout menu, they had a stack of copies which look like they had been copied from a copy of a copy from 1992, with handwritten notes and scribbled out parts on it. i think if they get with the 21st century and add some flavor to the crust, they might have something here, maybe. two stars only cause friends and hubby seemed to enjoy it enough to have more than one slice. maybe they were just hungry, who knows.

  • Eric L.

The three cheese pizza is AMAZING!!! If you want something over the top...Three cheese with sausage. UH, I travel all over the country with my job and I try to race home from the airport on Friday nights when I can to get one of these delicious masterpieces. They also have the shop on Baltimore pike. Make sure you call your order in as they can only make so many at a time.Good stuff
