I firmly believe in not letting life--or nerves--get in the way of gathering friends for at least breakfast. I met John H last Monday for breakfast, as I was eating my way through p.l.e.n.t.y. of good cafés in Philly. At the second floor of the small, bi-level, rustic cafe, I enjoyed a very satisfying Egg White Sandwich, with good Manchego cheese, which came with fresh salad. The plate was presented as wonderfully as it tasted. I also had two cups of freshly brewed coffee. John had a muffin and a cup of tea. Take-home message: Go to Plenty Café and you will be happy, Plenty! Four Yelps.

This is a great neighborhood coffee place. A little small, but well designed with a loft style second floor that makes it look more spacious. Loved the simple but elegant design. We came here for brunch. Since it is primarily a coffee shop, there is no host to take you to your table. You order at the counter and then find a table to sit down, and food will be brought to you. We ordered the smoked brisket and smoked salmon, simple sandwiches but very delicious. Every one of their dishes is linked to a specific country, which is a neat idea. All ingredients are organic and local, adding to the appeal. They also have a cool menu for coffee and teas and I will definitely come back to try some out.

Walked into this small cafe after a work meeting in the Rittenhouse area. Got the Seoul sandwich, which was a bulgogi sand which with pickled cabbage, spiced mayo and some other delicious ingredients. The prices were a little steep but the sandwich was awesome. There is not much seating, but the staff are friendly and the sandwiches are well thought out. Good flavors and combinations. The coffee shop as pretty good as well!

Great chocolate macaroon, great espresso, great staff, great decor/atmosphere, great location, great "world" cafe concept, mediocre Smoked Brisket Sandwich. The many positives are enough for me to be a fan, thus 4 stars instead of 3. However, I'd be curious to try some of their other food as maybe just the brisket sandwich is the disappointment and the rest is great.

I am sooo happy i found this place. The staff is so nice and the coffee is reasonably priced. THE FOOD? Wow. just wow. it's so good... i can't wait to be back and bring all my friends here. I dined-in and just to see all their 'regulars' come in and to see how they are with all their customers is really great. When you order to-go someone from the back comes out and specifically calls your name and hands you your baggie. Its that kind of service you just cant beat. I hope you're here to stay! Thanks again!

This place is super cute and the staff is very friendly. I had heard great things about Plenty, so I decided to stop in for a quick bite. I settled on a salad and added some grilled chicken to it. While the salad was tasty, there were very few pieces of grilled chicken in it, which made me sad because I love protein and I had paid extra for it. Despite my disappointment, I'd probably go back and try one of their sandwiches, as they have many to choose from.

Finding a place that's open for breakfast on a Sunday at 8 AM in Rittenhouse is a lot more challenging than I thought...and ended up taking me to Plenty Cafe..which I'm so glad it did. For such seemingly-simple sounding dishes, they are absolutely DIVINE. Once I picked up my egg white sandwich, there was no putting it down. Even the salad that came with it was delish! Also super easy and quick place to grab a bite when you're in a rush--just order and pay at the counter, then take a seat (indoors or outdoors) and they will bring it right to you. Definitely want to go back and try one of their lunch options next time. Do me a favor and TRY THIS PLACE-don't underestimate the menu.

I came to Plenty one lazy Sunday afternoon and was charmed by its cozy, quaint interior. The competition for the upstairs seating with the cushioned benches was fierce! But the downstairs tables and window seating are equally as nice, so I sat there until a seat opened up. The iced coffee is really great - I drink mine black and it wasn't too bitter but perfectly light and refreshing! One thing I will say is that it was a bit warmer than most coffee shops. I was getting a little drowsy while doing my work, but it was a particularly hot day that day so maybe that's why. This was a nice change of pace from my usual trips to elixr or joes - much quieter and hidden away in a corner.

I am writing this review if only because I cannot get the amazing "Barcelona" sandwich out of my head! I had it yesterday and I'm already trying to plot my next visit so I can try it again... My husband and I visited Plenty on a Sunday afternoon and while business was brisk it was not overwhelming. We placed our order at the counter (Rival Bros brewed hot coffee for him, iced brew for me, with the Barcelona sandwish the share) and received our coffee promptly then headed outside to await our sandwich. About 15 minutes later the lovely Barcelona and a side salad were brought out...I wish I had gotten my own! And will not make that mistake in the future. The Barcelona consists of: Serrano ham, chorizo cantimpalo, mahón cheese, tomato, arugula, and roasted red pepper aioli on a demi-baguette. Almost like an upscale Italian hoagie, the ham and chorizo were salty and spicy which was a great complement to the rich cheese and peppery arugula. But OH that red pepper aioli! Worth the price of admission. With their locally sourced and organic attitude, I imagine that most anything on their menu is delicious. But it will be very hard for me to stray from the Barcelona, at least the next time I visit anyway. And I will definitely be visiting again! If you're a sandwich fan or fiend then check out Plenty!

I used to go here all the time because I live in the neighborhood, but the quality of the food and the customer service has taken a significant dive and I doubt I will ever go back. I ordered a couple of sandwiches to go. After about 20-25 minutes of waiting, I finally got my stuff. I went home, looked at one of the sandwiches (a salmon sandwich), and couldn't find the meat. I took it apart and dug around and there was maybe salmon on a third of the sandwich. I took it back and one of the guys (maybe the manager, I have no idea), yelled from the kitchen across the restaurant to me that he'd remake it but it would have the same amount just actually spread over the entire sandwich. I was frustrated because I consider myself to be pretty low maintenance and don't send food back unless there's something really wrong. I've never had a snarky response in a restaurant like this before and was so floored I told them not to worry about it and left the restaurant. I will not return.

I found the staff friendly and the food delicious. The dirty chai was eh. The salmon added at $7+ to my bagel was barely there. The dining experience general was nice. I'd come again and try a different selection.

What an adorable lil cafe! The space feels very Brooklyn-y to me, in a good way. Beautiful wood floors, tons of natural light. Slightly on the small size but this just adds to the cozyness factor. Shared the texas brisket sandwich (the lunch one, not the breakfast one) and also ordered an iced apple green tea. The brisket sandwich was fucking fantastic- came on a pressed baguette with pickled onions, chedda & a house BBQ sauce and a side salad. The portion wasn't huge and the prices are slightly above average, but the quality was on point so I'm not complaining. The iced green tea was also delish, very subtle apple flavor. I'll definitely be back- the chicken salad is calling my name.

Indeed,I went back to attempt and give a fifth star but was disappointed and now removing a star. The people that work there aren't the best.

I adore this little cafe. People there are so nice and pet friendly. Their peach cobbler cake is so moist and just enough sweet. Their ice tea is awesome, fresh squeezed orange juice is always delicious. Their little outdoor seats are always nice.

  • Myung C.

Friendly staff, however, the food seems pretty over priced for the average person. Lattes were bomb, but the breakfast sandwiches were dry and kind of bland--basically the food was mediocre (I'd rather go somewhere like Panara for food like this). I recommend going for the experience though, the atmosphere was awesome. If the food tasted better, this place would've gotten five stars.

  • C A.

I like Plenty a lot and have been a regular since it opened. The food is delicious, the staff are usually friendly and it is a nice place to bring your computer to work (there are lots of plugs). Sometimes it gets crowded and there are no free tables. I am always conscientious not to overstay my welcome when there are people who want a table to sit and eat (other cafe workers should observe the same etiquette).

  • Divya P.

I've been here a few times- the food is pretty good, slightly overpriced. 3$ for a small coffee is ridiculous. Anyway, each time I go, I hope the service is better than the last. WHY does everyone always have so much attitude in this place? No smiles, just rude. Last time I got a coffee, the lady behind the counter put it way down at the other end, even though I was right in front of the register, she pointed to it and said you can get that. Have some sense of hospitality if this is the industry you're in. It's not 'cool' or 'hipster' to be rude.

Plenty Café is a really nice little place on Spruce, just a short walk from the Kimbell Center and the Avenue of The Arts. It was a beautiful Spring day on our visit and people were sitting outside also. Inside there are 2 floors and the place has high ceilings, and a lot of charm. The second floor is a loft space. The whole restaurant was very clean. The people working there were very pleasant. I had a dirty Chai which was quite good and a Korean BBQ sandwich on a baguette. The sandwich was excellent and had some really nice flavors going on. It also came with a side salad. I will absolutely be back to Plenty Café to try out some more of the menu. Try it if your in the area.

I've stumbled upon Plenty by accident and instantly felt comfortable and at home. Plenty is that kind of hipster cafe you know from Instagram with great coffee selections and a badass salmon bagel.

I came here with absolutely no expectations -- I just wanted breakfast/brunch food at a good price in CC. I've also never really explored Spruce St, so I was skeptical about coming here...but this place turned out to be a blessing in disguise! On an otherwise forgotten block stands such an underrated corner cafe. So cute, so intimate, so unique. Everything on the menu looked great and there were many vegetarian options. Each food item is from a different country, Italy, France, etc., very worldy and fun. The coffee bar looked delectable. I ended up ordering the pancetta hash without bread (any sandwich can be served without bread) and a cappuccino -- barely over 10 bucks! We sat outside, which was pleasant in the summer weather. A server came and brought us our order in very nice dishes -- it felt like we were eating a gourmet brunch at a fancy restaurant. The food was simply incredible. The cappuccino was heavenly. I can't express enough how happy I was to have found this place!

They've got coffee and tea, a-PLENTY, they've got breakfasts and salads galore, you want sandwiches? They've got twenty (note: they actually have 19 but that didn't rhyme). but who cares, no big deal....I WANT MORE. This is a great little cafe, adorable seating area that reminds me of a tree house, cute barristas (barristers?), and delicious food. I've been here a few times now and I'm thinking I'm gonna become part of [their] world. I tried the egg white sandwich for brunch one day and they were able to switch out the roll for multigrain bread which was great. Sandwich was delicious and I felt healthy eating it so that's a plus. ALSO. They have frequent buyer cards for sandwiches and coffee. I love me some frequent buyer cards (read: free shit). My only complaint is that it's so small that it's hard to find seating. Also, on a related note, the upstairs area had a bunch of people studying so I felt kind of bad having chatty conversation with my co-bruncher. Definitely check it out!

Woke up with a hangover craving something delicious for my belly. Ended up at this quaint cafe with outdoor seating on this beautiful day. If I were to describe this place in 1 word, it would be fresh! Everything is house made and amazing! The staff was friendly and super helpful. It's always comforts me when I ask for a recommendation and the staff answers with so much passion and love for everything on the menu. So, ended up getting 3 sandwiches (again, very hungover and wanting everything) The pulled pork and smoked brisket were fantastic and cooked just right. Every sandwich balanced perfectly with its paired condiments such as pickled onions and fig jams. Look forward to returning here in the future, yum!

You ever walk in somewhere and think wow i don't belong here ? Thats how i felt about my recent trip to Plenty. Yelp showed great reviews and friends swear by this place but i was not impressed. I walked in post barre class ready to chow down. I ordered the egg white sandwich with peppers, onions and manchego. I felt like i was an annoyance to the person i ordered from and a part of me didn't want to eat it in. I stayed though since it was too hot to try and walk my sandwich the 15 blocks home. The saving grace was that the sandwich was bomb and worth the 8.00 price tag . If the counter person was less snooty this would have been a perfect afternoon.

I was immediately romanced by the gorgeous and cosy space. It's a remodeled building where they've mingled tin ceilings with barn wood style beams. Edison bulbs paired with black brass fixtures. I plan on returning with my design loving friends. The food is fantastic, I'm sipping on some of the cities best chai tea. My breakfast sandwich was out of control umami with pancetta, eggs and hash browns. The garnished it with a side salad and watermelon. The staff was very pleasant and hospitable.

I think this is the best of the "pocket" cafes in downtown. Just big enough for meals but perfect coffee without the pretenses. It's my go to location.

My friend and I were looking for a place to grab quick breakfast before we headed to the airport. This place was a cute little cafe, I loved the decor. I ordered the granola parfait - which was good, I loved the little bowl it came in. Next time I am in town I will stop by for coffee and breakfast!

Perfect location. Nice local hot coffee. They had hot chocolate as well. Wifi. Breakfast pastries/ sandwiches. We were visiting for a few days and this was so good we went twice. Both days we had good service. Did not try their lunch/dinner yet. There is additional seating area upstairs.

This place was very good for a weekend brunch. I sometime enjoy the "seat yourself" places, provided I can find a table. The last time I went with other people and we all thought the food was very good. The service is mainly counter service, but the people made me feel special, despite my just being another customer. Always a good thing. The coffee and sandwiches were good. In fact, my only issue was that I felt it was still a bit overpriced for the type of place it is. Nonetheless, I would have no problem going back.

A really cute coffee and sandwich shop in the heart of Philadelphia. It's a casual seat yourself kind of joint, which can be perfect for a lazy Saturday late morning/early afternoon. I loved the music selection which reflected the global nature of their menu. We just had the Rivals Bros drip, which was awesome, and I'd definitely try one of their hand pours. I had a chorizo breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend had the brisket breakfast sandwich. We both loved them. Would definitely return for a coffee or quick bite.

I am so glad I found this place. Unfortunately, they don't have branches in DC where I live. If I could, I would I here everyday. The ambiance is very chill and happy and relaxed. I liked the calming music and art on the walls. The people who work there are chill and easy to chat with. The area is small, but isn't overcrowded. This is a great place to meet a friend for lunch and also to buckle down and work for hours. The coffee is great and the food is amazing. I went twice in one weekend it was so good. The first time I got the New Orleans sandwich and then the chicken pesto. It is damn hard to decide what to order because everything looks and tastes amazing. All of the ingredients taste very fresh and the things that come out of the kitchen here are gold. Please enjoy this place as much as I did because all sandwich/coffee shops should be this good!

Food and ambiance are really great! I love coming here to grab a coffee and study, although sometimes it is hard to find a place to sit. The sandwiches are very tasty but a bit expensive. The staff is really friendly, and if you come in a lot they seem to get to know you! Food price is really the only downside. And it can be a bit cold studying during the winter.

Great coffee with guest roasters from around the country. The food is delicious and portion sizes are right on. The space is lovely but can get a little cramped during the busy hours, so just a heads up there.

this PLACE. I can't get enough of Plenty. I go on my way to work for coffee several times a week, and have gotten a few fantastic espresso drinks as well. The breakfast options rule. I love the oatmeal and granola (when they have fresh fruit add it for a dollar, but not if it's the "berries" which are just craisins), and the egg white sandwich is so yummy. Also love the pancetta hash. I did get the bagel with smoked salmon once, and while each component was good it didn't wow me. And it cost like $11 or something so I'd say stick with the other options. I really don't order the more entree-style menu choices, since they're more expensive and I'm typically there before noon. But I have heard great things, so I'd give them a try if the time were right. They offer frequent buyer cards, which give you a free coffee drink (any!) every 10 and a free sandwich every 12, which is great. And the service rules. So yeah, I'd say I'm a 5 star fan of Plenty these days.

I live a block away from Plenty. I go there every single day, not only because it's convenient, but because it's delicious and the baristas are awesome. I usually get their La Colombe coffee and a bagel. Their bagels are delicious, but they run out pretty quickly so get there early on a weekend! Great sandwiches and take-out food for lunch or for a quick snack. So happy they are located right around the corner!

Very much enjoyed the atmosphere at Plenty Café. Was greeted upon entering and asked by two baristi if they could get something started for me. The loft area is definitely cozy (had two people studying, but they were wearing earplugs, so surrounding conversation did not bother them), but it was both visually pleasing and it was nice to be a little removed from the regular comings-and-goings: felt a little more private. I had the South Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich, which was fantastic: great summer slaw and loved the toasted French roll. The pulled pork was tender and well-marinated. My companion had the Texas Smoked Brisket "breakfast" sandwich: the two organic fried eggs looked perfect (slightly runny centers). Both sandwiches came with a small side of pre-dressed (tasted balsamic-y) mixed greens. Though I didn't order a coffee drink, I did note a frequent buyer card on their counter: buy 10, get 1 free. (I didn't notice one for sandwiches, though if Melissa P. and Michelle C. say they're available, I vouch for them.)

Awesome cafe mochas and lattes. So delicious grub: egg white sandwich, and panchetta egg sandwich. Totally recommend!

Plenty Cafe was a bit of a disappointment and made my wife and I realize that the DC food scene (where we are from) sets a high standard. The staff was nice here and they have a fun balcony where you can enjoy your food, but the actual lunch wasn't that great. It looks good, but it just wasn't out of this world. We ordered the Seoul and the Istanbul sandwich and both didn't have much flavor. If you're ever in DC and want an AMAZING sandwich with tons of flavor, order the Seoul and Istanbul from a place called Sundevich near DC's Convention Center. Cheers!

Yes, it's good coffee, with a buy-10-get-1-free card. Cute place, great location. BUT. There's a huge BUT, guys. Strawberry Blonde Pony Tail dude- talk about poor service. I mean, you've just refinanced your mortgage so that you could afford those 10 coffees (but lykeomg you get a free one so it's worth it?...) and then Strawberry Blonde Pony Tail dude treats you like you're at the DMV. With one sustained glare into the floor, he manages to make the whole bougie coffee-buying experience a purgatory where hopes and dreams go to die. If you want some friendly service, or maybe just a vapid smile, try publicly executing a few small fluffy animals... The odds of experiencing smiles from a stranger will be resoundingly greater.

I love this place ! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star and not a 5 is because they don't have almond milk or any non dairy milk options :( . But other then that their food is great, I give the food a 5 star !:).... And my favorite , the reason I love this place so much is New Orleans( it's amazing ) I deff recommend it .

  • Michelle C.

Okay, I've been back twice and the counter staff could not have been nicer or the sandwiches (tasso ham and tuna - an awesome choice for something a bit lighter but still filling) more delicious. I love that they have a frequent sandwicher card so that I'll eventually earn one for free. Once the weather warms up a bit and I become a little less lazy, I'll walk myself over there and enjoy a meal in their cute loft space.

I really do love this place. Strategically placed between my home and office, I stop in sometimes for a drink or bite to eat. I had a break tonight and came over for a sandwich- the New Orleans was voted Best of Philly- and I can see why!! Holy moly this sandwich is good. Only complaint is sometimes it feels pricey for the smaller items. Overall though I'm quite happy to have Plenty so nearby...

Plenty is a well-priced café (given the area it is located) offering well-above average beverages and café eats. It offers gluten-free & vegan options, salads, catering, and probably more. The staff and ambiance here are equally nice, and the giant archway, interior & two floors alone make this place worth a stop. Their drip coffee passed my litmus test in that it isn't nauseatingly bitter like *ahem* other cafés. It indeed is good enough, but for show-stopping coffee, I prefer La Colombe's & Elixr's when in the area. I ordered breakfast and lunch together as to go. Service was OK speed since there was a small line, but the rapport at the end sealed the deal. The smoked salmon sandwich, wow. It's a solid gourmet breakfast choice. The caper dill cream was light, tangy & complimented with the egg base and saltiness of the salmon. The caramelized onion gave it that unexpected sweet rich flavor note that catapulted the whole sandwich. Basically, adding the onion to the sandwich is like adding nutmeg to bechamel sauce: it's so much better with that extra something. Since then I've made a similar sandwich, and it came out almost as good as having someone else make it (admit it, it's better that way). The caprese sandwich was simple and light, but came out muddled unfortunately. The mozzarella was pretty fresh, but the tomato juices absorbing into the ciabatta distracted from the balsamic and the basil in the too-garlicky-to-eat-at-work pesto. This effect made it seem like a Spanish inspired sandwich that was missing jamon serrano or something. I'm glad I gave this café another shot, since my first choddy experience at the other joint. I recommend this place, as it is a quaint escape from the city. But by no means is it not neck-to-neck with other establishments in Rittenhouse.

Hands down the best spot for coffee and a sandwich in the neighborhood! The sandwich selection is unique and of top quality from local vendors. Local roasters are also featured; Rival Bros., ReAnimator and La Colombe, and the baristas know how to make a proper cup including pour over. My go to sandwich selections are the Tasso Ham and Chicken Salad. The Tasso Ham features house cured and smoked pork shoulder that is thinly sliced and nicely spiced. The Chicken Salad has chunks of chicken pulled together with an awesome whole grain mustard mayo. Other sandwiches that are unique and definitely worth a try are the Seoul (bulgogi short rib) and the Matambre (grilled filet w/ veggies). I have to mention that the rolls are incredible; crunchy on the outside and doughy on the inside. The best kind for sandwiches. The atmosphere is modern with an organic feel due to wooden floors and walls. There are tables in the front of the restaurant as well as a cozy upstairs balcony. There are even a few outdoor tables and an indoor bar facing a large window for people watching. So, don't come here expecting run of the mill coffee service and thrown together sandwiches; they do things a step above here. If you have an appreciation for a properly made cup of coffee and a sandwich made with lots of thought and attention to detail, this is a place that will become your new go to.

Great off the beaten path cafe, but a very convenient location. Food looks great...interesting menu and a great casual interior. Loose leaf hot tea with a high end selection of tea....no crappy bag tea here! Worth a look!!!!

Delicious coffee and lattes, with foam art which is always fun. I got the Pancetta Hash Breakfast Sandwich which was delicious! So happy with this place. The only concern is the small amount of seating. It's hard to get a table if you want to eat in.

I stopped for lunch today for the first time. The sandwich menu is laid out nicely by protein with lots of great combinations. Gluten free baguettes are available also. I ordered the Florence sandwich. I'm not sure how long I waited but it was a while. Next time I will call in advance. The Florence is described as "roast pork shoulder with fennel and onions, roasted red peppers, sautéed Swiss chard, pecorino, garlic aioli" on a baguette. Delish. However when I got home I noticed a lack of red peppers, Swiss chard and pecorino. Umm. If you don't have it that's fine I will order something else. Next time just tell me don't just leave it off the sandwich and hope that I won't notice. Still the pork was good. I will give it another shot but be sure to check that I've all the ingredients before I leave the shop.

First timer coming from the west coast. Ordered cappuccino and a scrambled egg sandwich with avocado and tomato on multi grain bread (custom, not on the menu). Both coffee and sandwich were excellent. Order took longer than expected to arrive, so I was offered another cappuccino on the house which was as excellent as the first. The place feels homey and intimate. I love it.

Great cafe/brunch place. Must try their ice coffee. We need more places like this in Philadelphia. Edit: Tried their "Seoul" sandwich. It took about 20-30 min to come out. Blend and mediocre. I think it's really overpriced ($10.95 + tax). Maybe other dishes are better. -1 star.

Really dug this place. The inside decor despite being small and packed in was really welcoming. If it's busy it might be a bit too much for a kid or family but in the morning for your cuppa it was great. They had four barrel as the guest roaster this month and loved it. Normally they have the most excellent Rival Brothers. Would gladly stop in again.

Cute little place to sit with coffee and your laptop. Not so much for an actual meal. Small menu and no table service.

Yup, this is a five star place, but they have GOT to fix the internet! I was in Philly on my regular visit last week, and over three separate days couldn't get on line. Its definitely a place you would go to sit and work on your computer while you grab a bite and have some coffee. Delish food, friendly staff...just wish it was a bit larger as it seems to be ever more popular!

I'm not that hard to please, I swear. I have been here a couple times now with similar experiences. The guy at the counter was pretty unfriendly and cold me to...I don't know if it was maybe that I took to long to look at the menu? Not sure...but he was extremely friendly to everyone after me so I don't know what I did - I'm sorry I'm not a regular but you can still at least be civil! I ordered the "new Orleans" and sat down with my book. 30 minutes later (yes. 30.) I thought I'd check on it, they literally just looked at me at said "oh. Yea....ready in a minute". (Place was not busy at all) Clearly forgotten and unapologetic. Another 5-8 minutes later the sandwich arrived with a halfhearted apology and a card for a free coffee. Thanks I guess ? Sandwich was quite good, though I still think the prices are a little high here. I should also mention my previous experience. Ordered the breakfast brisket sandwich and friend ordered bagel and lox/cream cheese. That also took about 20-25 minutes (not busy). Mine came first so I tried to take little bites till my friend got hers...never came and I was over half way through mine. Checked on hers and it was forgotten. No apology. Finally hers came and the guy said to me wait yours is the wrong brisket sandwich - after a lot of back and forth I said no this is the right one (they also have a different lunch/dinner brisket sandwich) but he literally tried to take my half eaten sandwich from in front of me because he was convicted I was wrong I had the wrong one. Really? Even if it was wrong are you really going take it from me at this point? I'm sorry...these experiences left a bad taste in my mouth. I think I'll be skipping Plenty Cafe from now on.

To start, amazing food. The grilled cheese is my favorite (I'm a simple kind of girl) but the pesto chicken sandwich is also delic. I love the relaxed ambiance and modern decor complete with a friendly staff. Sometimes I'll head over there to work for a few hours to get out of my office. I didn't give it 5 stars simply because the food prices are a bit high, despite the coffee being very reasonably priced. However, I will take a nice small meal and cup of coffee here vs. a microwaved spinach square and overwhelming foot traffic at SBux. Sorry SBux, I've been cheating on you!

I came in for a quick thirst quencher and barista recommended black coconut iced tea. I could drink gallons of this! I love coconut so this was very satisfying.

Slow service, tiny place and extremely overpriced. I was psyched about their menu because everything sounds amazing but the cashier would take and make each customers order so lots of waiting. I was shocked when my sandwich came out to nearly $12... Just a sandwich, no chips not even a pickle! Got home and realized just how small my pricey sandwich was and it wasn't even that good. My first time and my last time there.

This is a very cute sandwich/coffee shop with a compact seating area and a loft area with a nice overlook of the shop itself. The atmosphere is bright and cheerful and the staff is more than accommodating. A couple of quick tips/notes concerning this coffee shop location: -The sandwiches and other food items seemed to be priced slightly higher than other coffee shops in Center City (and therefore, I have not actually tried them; they appear to be tasty though) -The seating is VERY limited and quite tight. So if you are planning to have intimate conversations or feel uncomfortable with people sitting close to you, you may want to consider another location.

Cute Cafe, food is decent. Coffee is a bit overpriced. Unfortunately every single time I've been there, the staff is very cold and rude. There is no etiquette or courtesy from them especially if they are running a cafe you would expect something more.

Fantastic! My colleagues and I have been looking for a new CC weekly meeting place, that's not packed like Starbucks! This is the perfect place. They have a nice coffee bar and a nice food selection. Free wifi (duh) and I even got a card to get a free coffee if we frequent there. Got the most delicious soy latte while we were there. We will definitely be back!

Great cappuccino. The foam was perfectly done. Tasted rich, with an aftertaste of chocolate. I prefer a bolder, more acidic espresso, but this cappuccino was perfect in its own way. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the service was snippy and not that knowledgable. I would love to come back and try some of their meals as well, which looked interesting. Would recommend.

I loved this coffee shop until I paid $10 for a cup of coffee and toast with avocado and "no wifi on the weekends". I understand the limited space problem but if you're not going to offer wifi, don't charge that much for a meal that's worth $5.

Lot's of hype with this place. I'll admit, my first encounter was with the famed "SEOUL" Bulgolgi sandwich. This was indeed, and still is one of my top ranked must try sandwiches in town, but I think it stops there for me. The salads are expensive and lack much beyond lettuce. I've tried a few other sandwiches and remain to be as taken back as I was with my Bulgolgi. They do have incredible bread and lots of options (with cool names), so this is certainly worth the trip, but I find myself dissatisfied in more recent trips.

I live near this cafe, and I noticed that it finally opened and decided to try it out with my parents as a last minute option for a quick dinner. We got a couple sandwiches: the Matambre, Porchetta and Pesto Chicken. All were pretty good and all were on french rolls. It might have been better to eat these sandwiches with a soup, so that your mouth doesn't get so dry from chewing all that bread. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how good these were! It was a bit pricey, in my opinion, but a good treat every once in a while. For those 3 sandwiches, the total was about $32 (Ok, you do get a decent amount of meat, so the prices are justifiable). I'll try their coffee next time I stop in!

  • Tyler L.

I've only been once and it was a little too tight in there if you want to sit and chill. That said the bagels were very good, the service was pleasant, and the coffee was good. I will definitely be back for a bagel and coffee often.

This *was* my favorite breakfast place in Philly ... then the chorizo changed to something bland and boring ... The tables are tiny and there seems to be a problem with students staying for a long time [and bringing food and water with them!?!] so it's even harder to secure a seat. Won't hurry back like I used to :-(

There's nothing like a good sandwich, and there aren't nearly enough sandwich places in the area. Enter Plenty. I had been waiting for this location to open up for the past year, and I finally got a chance to go. They were out of most of the sandwich choices I rattled off, so settled for the chicken sandwich with mozzarella and pesto. I was not disappointed. The pesto was on point, and all of the ingredients super fresh. I've been craving another all subsequent weekends from my visit. Coffee is also good to boot, even though I do prefer La Colombe. Will definitely be making more trips to Plenty.

went here for the first time yesterday and wasn't too impressed. Upon entering we received a great hello, which always makes me feel more comfortable, it was a nice ice breaker. The design is great, a very rustic and industrial blend. Very small but they did a great job with the general design of the place. A friend and I both ordered lattes and salads. The lattes we done very well but upon asking what coffee they serve, the barista didn't answer in much detail, I got a bland "house blend" for an answer. I was taken back being that most cafés stand behind their specific choice roasters and definitely mention them by name. It than took 25 mins for two salads to be delivered and the place only had two people come in for coffee in that time, by no means packed. When we asked the baristas if we could expect the salad soon, they asked if we wanted it to go! Very rude, what's the point in sitting down to eat and waiting this entire time? The salads were ok, nothing special, and for waiting 25 mins, I was expecting them to present a plate with more effort. Overall I was disappointed with the entire experience.

Just ordered a chicken salad sandwich from here for $10.00 for take out. By far the worst chicken salad sandwich I have ever had, it was all onions and about 2 little pieces of chicken. Very disappointed for my first time ordering from Plenty.

Okay, this place is great. Quiet unassuming little sandwich and coffee shop. The New Orleans ham sandwich is a killer. I don't eat bread and they turned it into a salad that was excellent. Coffee drinks were well done and service was much better than expected from a little sandwich place in Philly. Will be a regular here.

Went there for the first time on Saturday after attempting, and failing, to do some shopping on Walnut. As stated in an ealier review, they have a wide selection of locally roasted coffee that they make to order. I had a macchiato that hit the spot perfectly. I also had a chance to try their food as well on this trip. I got the Madrileno sandwich which had beef & CHORIZO meat balls, roasted poblano peppers, and manchego cheese on it. Need to say it was delicious. On top of all that, the staff was super friendly, even taking the time to help a woman who had wandered in to the shop to figure out how to pay for parking. Cant wait to check it out again.

This is one of the more frequent coffee shops I visit, I enjoy it a lot! Their coffee is delicious, and they have a frequent customer card which is nice. If you buy 10 drinks, you get one free. It's a nice space to hang out in when it's not full, small, but nice. Their Iced Mochas rock!

This is an adorable new coffee cafe on Spruce St. Apparently this is the 2nd store, the first one is in the passyunk area. I think its a delightful little place with just a little bit more than you average bagel for breakfast. I had 2 of their egg sandwichs and both were served on a delicious bun with a side of greens. I will definitely be going there again!

  • Nico D.

Great decor, nice staff, free wifi, great sandwiches, you get a free hot drink for every 10 you buy, and a free lunch sandwich for every 12. I tried once a giant slice of their apple cake: it was fresh and very tasty. Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood (take that La Citadelle!). My only negatives would be that it's so small that it's hard to get a table to have lunch, let alone work with your computer for a couple of hours. And the hot tea is just OK, while even their lightest coffee is too strong (bitter) for our taste. If you're into La Colombe coffee, you should find something you like here. If you are into light, nutty coffee like they do at Elixir, you are going to be disappointed. I knocked off one star because of the drinks. Final piece of advice: only order the Tasso ham sandwich if you have superhuman resistance to hot spices. You've been warned.

Place looks great. Had high expectations and food nor service delivered. Egg sandwich was ok, nothing to write home about. Salad had brown leaves :( the great news is that we could sit outside in beautiful Philly as we write the review.

Though I can't speak for their sandwiches or most breakfast options (I only ever got their bagels, which were very yummy I might add), their lattes are amazing. I used to live right down the street from this place and I feel so nostalgic thinking about it now that I'm all the way on the west coast. Of all the cafes I have been to, I am drawn to the latte's here the most. They always appear to be made with love, with a leaf design on top and in attractive coffee cups and the flavor and aroma is spot on. The process of their latte preparation does not appear impatient or inconsiderate like it may in some other cafes. The design of the interior is very cool! It has that rustic yet modern decor and the windows let in the nice bright light from outside, without being too harsh or distracting. It feels a world away from the busy street right outside. They also have several indoor plants which is always nice to see. Some of their wood choices appear to be reclaimed which looks really neat. The fact that it's a two level with seating up on an exposed upper story space, adds an element of charm. The staff also happen to be very pleasant and polite. Overall, great service, great lattes, and a great atmosphere. I must also add that this place is super cozy in the wintertime, a great haven from the cold and bustle outside.

Stopped in here today to get a breakfast sandwhich for lunch. I ended up ordering the Brisket Sandwhich, which was okay, but a little dry. Add to the fact that it took a very long time (20 min) to get my food made for take-out and this place is just so-so.

We spent 8 days in Philly visiting our daughter from AZ. This by far was the best coffee house around. Everyone was so friendly and the food and prices were great. I so recommend this place.

  • M D.

First the good. It's a cute little place and the proprieter seems nice enough. Now the not-so-good. The place is over priced and service is slow. But this is not what caused me to give it the 1 start rating. They nickel and dime you by charging you extra for everything. Order bread and you get charged $0.50 for butter anf $1.50 for jelly. Really? And you'd like a refill on your coffee? That'll be $1.00. I have been to literally hundreds of breakfast places and never -- and I do mean never -- have I been charged for a coffee refill. That's just poor form and tacky. The bread was stale and the entire experience left a very bad taste in our party's mouth. I would not recommend this place and I would never go back. Very disappointing. Here's a suggestion to the owners: charge a fair price and treat your customers with a little diginty...and never -- ever -- make a customer feel like he's being ripped off.

After reading about this place on a food blog I decided to give them a shot. The food was just ok. We had the brisket breakfast sandwich and another specialty sandwich. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. Too many choices for breakfast to settle for mediocre.

Friendliest owners in the world. Great hand poured coffee. The menu is indeed global. Go for whatever exotic item that you like, you cannot go wrong. They are also open late, which is huge plus.

I can only speak for Plenty's tuna fish sandwich, called Provence. My mom's tuna fish sandwich is one of the best and the Provence comes close. There's a time for mayo-infused tuna sandwiches but this one- like my mom's- tastes more vinegar-based which makes for a really healthy, guilt-free, fresh and tasty option. The toasted multi-grain adds to the healthy substance of the sandwich. It comes with a side salad which I enjoyed, but I actually also liked it better with a white-based kimchee from home that tastes like cole slaw and would be a great (not to mention unique) idea to include on the Plenty menu. The people working there are really nice- one in particular, I didn't get his name but seemed like the owner. The space is small but thoughtfully decorated. Love their chalkboard menu which has just enough good items to give choice but not so much that it overwhelms. Great coffee selection. Highly recommend this as a hunger stop after walking around or shopping in Rittenhouse.

This is a great place for coffee or lunch. Very high quality coffee with great service. The sandwiches are very good as well. The roast pork was great as was the Korean beef. Highly recommended if you like a good sandwich. The design of the place is very modern. I will be going here a lot!

Plenty was one of my favorite places to frequent while studying and I still visit when the craving strikes. My personal favorite is the Seoul sandwich (bugolgi, pickled veggies and sriracha mayo on a French roll). If you decide to order in, it will come with a deliciously light, yet filling salad. Their cappuccino and iced mocha are also perfection (the best in the city, imo). Prices are a bit high, but they now offer coffee and sandwich cards. This place is a hidden gem.

I've been here twice, and twice this place has screwed up my take out order at astronomical prices. (i.e., $27 for two sandwiches and an iced tea). The quality of the food is good, there's no question- but not worth it given their poor customer service. The first time I picked up take out, I got home to discover they gave me a sandwich instead of a salad. Not wanting to go back, I called and left a message about it, and never got a call back. The second time I ordered one vegetarian sandwich and one chicken sandwich for my boyfriend (I am a vegetarian) and I found chicken inside my sandwich. Gross. With so many other high end, overpriced, hipster sandwich shops with better service than this place, I don't think I'll be back.

I was so excited when this place opened a block away from me, and it's now my go-to for a quick brunch/lunch, or if I want to sip delicious coffee while reading a book. I stopped in here after a jank walk in the rain on Passyunk, I was miserable. But I walked into the first place I saw that looked friendly. Then I was like whoa this joint has food.....cool. The sandwiches are really good and the coffee is quality.

  • Lucero M.

I was glad when this café opened up since I live on the next block. I went today to get coffee and some breakfast since i had to rush to get working. I did not like the coffee. I ordered a decaf mocha and it tasted like NOTHING. The bagel was fine but you can't really mess up a bagel. The place is cute but small. I went in another time and did not order because there was nowhere free to sit. They seem to have some teas so next time I think I will try that. The barista was nice, although there was another customer who was constantly talking to him and hence he was ignoring other customers. That was quite rude and sometimes you just have to say "I'll be right with you" and continue the chat later. Otherwise it looks very unprofessional.

Internet cuts in and out so it is impossible to be productive there. They said they were fixing it weeks ago, but still having the same problem. Coffee is good. Sandwiches are delicious. If they fixed the internet, has the potential to be my daily neighborhood coffee place, but I am losing hope/patience.
