Been here before and my experience wasn't bad for breakfast or dinner. It's a casual family place that does not exceed expectations. Unfortunately lunch time was another story. Worst restaurant experience ever. It was lunch "rush" but wasn't super busy. We were a group of six and they seated us at a table for five. We sat there for about 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. The server apologized for the wait and we ordered. Almost all of our meals were subpar. I ordered a Dutch Chicken Pot Pie. So apparently "Dutch Chicken Pot Pie" is not a pie but more like a dumpling stew. But I would at least expect chicken in it. It was essentially a big bowl of square dumpling noodles with a bland chicken sauce. Fine. I suppose this was the "Dutch" part of my experience. However my lunch mates shared a similar experience. One ordered a bowl of beef and barley soup that resembled more like baked beans due to the highly barley count and the lack of any "beef" (HA! My "Where's the beef" moment. Perhaps we should've gone to Wendy's). Another person ordered a "Taco Salad" and ended up with a basic salad with a couple of shelled generic tacos on top. Another ordered meatloaf that was burnt but covered up with gravy. That person is not the kind to send things back to the kitchen and we were on a lunch break so time was a factor. But then the server kept reaching over him to serve others while he was eating. That was the last straw for him. No one stopped to ask how our food was. The next time we saw our server was to see if we wanted desert. We said no and she tossed the check on the table. We went to pay (the same hostess that seated us) and she gave another one of my friends grief about his tip amount. Perhaps this was an off day for this establishment, but that is 6 people that will be sharing their experience with others.

Food was tasty (ham and cheese omelette). Service was friendly and prompt. The price was very reasonable (how do they make a profit?) I will definitely come back.

Very large menu and the food was good. Good place to bring the family when you don't feel like cooking and dealing with the resulting mess.

Pennsylvania Dutch food in a large but still cozy setting. Portion size is great and prices are just alike. Staff is country friendly. Worth a stop by if you are in the area.

Breakfast only! This place is right by my house so it's convenient to go to when I want a cup of coffee and maybe some bacon and eggs. It's pretty hard to screw up the conventional down home country breakfast so I don't mind going once in a while. Lunch or dinner is a different story. Last time I had a chef salad and the ingredients were certainly not fresh. Most of the offerings are pretty tasteless and prepared with substandard ingredients in a substandard manor a lot like high school cafeteria food or that friends mother you had who's house you hated to go over to because you had to eat the boxed mash potatoes and the boiled steak. Unless you want ham and eggs just pass her on by.

We've eaten here 6-7 times over the last 4-5 months. Good service, but menu is too large. Pick best 25-30 items and keep them to work on consistency delivering well prepared. Overall food is very average, and we've had 1-2 trips where it was not good (steak medallions was requested medium and it was burnt and tough, in another instance Italian dish lacked flavor). That being said, locals seem to like it and the desserts are good.

Me and a group of coworkers had dinner here(since it was free, YEAH!) How great it that? They stick to their Pennsylvanian Dutch roots with hearty, straight forward cooking. Can't go wrong right? they didn't. I ordered the four piece fried chicken. My order looked like it came off a pygmy cornish hen. My drumstick looked a fat, whittled pencil. But biting into that sear-fried goodness alleviated all doubts. Impeccably fried, crispy texture, and juicy. My macaroni oozed its delicate, creamy way into my stomach. I would stop by here again, but alas, I don't work in the area anymore... Some things we will miss...

A straightforward family restaurant. What I had was good: cucumber salad, corn fritters, yams, roast turkey and mash potatoes. Corn side order was unremarkable. No room for more.

This is your basic family diner, located relatively conveniently to Route 81. (It's on Route 22, but it parallels 81, so you're really not losing any time by taking an exit, going to the restaurant, and getting back on the highway at the next exit.) I went for lunch. The service was prompt and friendly. As Dan R. said in his review, the customer base here is pretty old. They're open all afternoon (I had lunch at 2 PM), and the fare is pretty good, I thought. I had the Amish-style chicken pot pie, which is closer to soup and, redundantly, mashed potatoes with gravy. The iced tea refills kept coming. The food wasn't brilliant or anything, but it was well-made, filling, and enjoyable.

This family run restaurant out in Ono offers a full menu of authentic pennsylvania dutch cooking. We drove out there one sunday morning, its about 20 minutes from Harrisburg along route 22. The food was pretty decent, we just got breakfast and some applejuice. I would suggest trying this place if you're in the area. The crowd seemed to be more mature adults though, we were the youngest people in there.

My wife and I were looking for a local place to eat Sunday dinner on our way back from a visit to Hershey on Sunday. Thinking we'd be fighting the weekend crowds at a Cracker Barrel again, we stumbled upon this place all by itself on old Route 22. The parking lot was crowded, evidently with locals coming here after church services, but as we arrived late enough, these folks were finishing up and filtering out. We were quickly given a booth next to the dessert carousel filled with lots of very tempting stuff. The menu had lots of great looking choices and complete dinners include the soup and salad bar. My wife had a char-broiled t-bone steak and I ordered roast turkey. Neither one of us were disappointed. The steak was huge and cooked to order, and my turkey portion was just right and all white meat as I had requested. The salad bar was fairly typical, but kept up and items were fresh. There were three types of homemade soup. Sunday it was Italian Wedding, Beef Vegetable, and Chicken Rice. Generous amounts of meat in all of them. For dessert we shared a piece of banana cream pie, and it was absolutely fabulous. We will surely remember this place the next time we're traveling through the area. Great Pennsylvania Dutch cooking all at very reasonable prices.
