Amazing ice-cream! I always get chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone. It really is a must stop in oakmont, PA. The staff is friendly and they have a ton of options from homemade flavors to slurpies, sundaes and ice cream cake : ) Enjoy!

This place was a nice, local ice cream shop. Went here after a nice dinner for a treat, and was not disappointed. The place is only a small walk-up window with a very helpful woman there to let us try samples. I had birthday cake flavor with chocolate chip cookie dough, and I enjoyed the rich, creamery taste. One note to remember: CASH ONLY!

Excellent service and suburb homemade ice cream! Fun flavors like red velvet, chocolate chocolate chip, Tiramisu, and birthday cake. Outdoor seating is perfect and the location is also great. One scoop is a generous serving. Most of all, the flavor is sublime!

This place is great. They have a ton of HOMEMADE flavors and can do all the specialties that other places can (sundaes, blizzard-type cups, specialty cones). They are very community oriented and I would guess get most of their business by foot traffic. It's priced reasonably and the service is good (usually staffed by the owner and high school aged employees). Seriously, try it.

Good home-made ice-cream in Oakmont. Didn't get anything fancy -- chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone. Very satisfying portion (more than what was needed for certain) and on this particular Saturday it had just finished raining so there were no lines. Tasty treat and I'm sure I'll be back.

Without hesitation, I say they have the best homemade ice cream in the tri-state area. The ice cream is rich in texture and full of flavor. Even after the change of ownership the recipes for the ice cream have remained the same. Brr-kee's has that small-town charm and big-town flavor. They are open seasonal and it's so worth the wait, it's something we look forward to every year. Try the brrr kee brownie, it's so good. They are located right near Oakmont Bakery and go perfect with a Oakmont Bakery cupcake. Daily ice cream flavors: Vanilla Chocolate Cherry Vanilla Cookie-N-Cream Cookie Dough Mint Chip Chocolate Chip Butter Pecan Coffee or Espresso May ice cream flavors: Chocolate Peanut Butter Explosion Chocolate Butter Fudge Mocha Gelato Flavors: Pistachio Chocolate Almond or Chocolate Pecan May Gelato Flavors: Amaretto Tiramisu Blood Orange Sorbet May Flavors: Pineapple Mango Flavors change every month. You can check their website each month to see whats offered. brr-kees.com If you bring your dog the owner will give your pooch a free scoop of vanilla. :)

If you like homemade ice cream and spending your money in small, community-based establishments, then buy some ice cream here. Homemade ice cream tastes just as good in January as it does in July, and I just bought a pumpkin pie sundae and a quart of banana chip ice cream. Delicious!

Get the chocolate butter fudge ice cream. This is a local haunt for people in Oakmont.

What a charming little place! If you like ice cream (and who doesn't?) this is your place. They have a variety of home made ice cream, with no fewer than 20 flavors at any time. They have banana splits, sundaes, floats...you name it. Brr-kees has a very sweet, small town feel. People come come all day long, but the lines start to form after dinner. They bring the kids, the dogs, the grandparents. You won't be disappointed if you stop by some night. The ice cream and ambiance is beyond measure. It's my new favorite summer stop.

We stopped there tonight after dinner with our boys. Everyone was thrilled, it was so yummy! The very pleasant surprise was how reasonable the bill was, 5 people eating some sort of ice cream for less than $12. If it was Rita's we would have paid $20 and it would not have been as good. It is worth the trip. Additionally, the young lady behind the counter was so very friendly and sweet with all of our boys.

We're growing weary of our usual ice cream and yogurt spots in PGH, of Oh Yeah's, Milk Shake Factory, Tutti Frutti, Mercurio's, Karmic, and Dave and Andy's. So we finally took a drive to creepy Oakmont (home of one excellent movie theater and a so-so bakery) and gave this ice cream shop a try. In fact, it IS worth the drive up Route 130 on a nice, summer evening, with a lovely view or two. And their ice cream is much better than good. Here's what we like most: There ice cream is homemade, handmade (on site, I believe) and it thankfully tastes like it. A waffle cone with "single" scoop was $3.75. The waffle cone was fresh, and the single scoop was something more than single. They have classic flavors like Rocky Road, Strawberry, and Bubble Gum. So if you're looking for wasabi sorbet with candied ginger and salmon roe, this isn't for you. It's also got walk-up windows, outdoor covered picnic seating, which, along with the surrounding train tracks, create a nostalgic, 50s, early 60s vibe that makes you want to kick back and lick. Lastly, the walk-up store front staffed by cadre of pert high school gals who smile, are polite, and who probably care that you're reasonably happy with their service. You WILL want to over-tip them, and you probably should. Here's what we liked least: Ordering. What could be a simple process, at an otherwise simple ice-cream shack, is complicated by the ten or twenty signs taped and tacked near its two walk-up windows. The signs announce everything from shakes and malts and brownie sundaes to contests and customer favorites. It took a bit of cognitive work just to figure out what flavors they had that day. Their menu could be consolidated and streamlined. The portion to texture also seems off. Handmade ice cream melts faster than your average ice cream. When you couple that with large portions and cones, expect drips. Lastly, despite all that cheer, no one offered me a taste of something right up front; I would like it if they did.

Decent ice cream, not the best. usually a long line and you have to wait awhile.. other than that the employees seem nice enough. they have benches and tables, not too crazy on the layout of the parking lot either but hey its the only place in oakmont/verona area to get ice cream!

We have been going there for years, and we thought they had closed for good. Now they are reopened, we are very happy. We have eaten ice cream at nearly every possible place in Pittsburgh, and Brr-kees is the best without a doubt.
