Tex Mex is a cute place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks. The bar and outside deck are really nice looking and it's a fun place to watch a game or celebrate cinco de mayo. I grew up in Lansdale and it is in my opinion one of the nicer bars in the area. The food however, is disgusting. I made better Mexican food in my dorm room in college. Your best bet is eat somewhere else then go there for drinks after.

Damn people. Calm down. What do you people expect from here? Luxury dining? Idk im from california so i grew up in hispanic area where you smell mexican food every block of the street so im just glad that i found mexican food in Lansdale. If you all wanna complain about over crowdedness or cleanliness just go to real luxury restaurant or go visit california theres all kinds of luxury in huge city with rich people. Im just giving this place 5 stars for the hell of it.

Great food and good margarita! Yeah!! Always enjoy it. Nice waitstaff. Never disappoints.

Somehow this place never seems to live up to its expectations. While festive and inviting on the outside the atmosphere inside is much less so festive. And over our last several visits the bar service has sucked. We prefer to eat at the bar. Perhaps the bartenders are so overwhelmed that they cannot find time to provide friendly service. Maybe they're too busy chitchatting with friends to refill a customer's water or offer additional cocktails. The food is just OK. The soup is good. But... Nothing to make a special trip for. Add mediocre food to consistently bad service and there's no need to go here at all.

"Meh. I've experienced better." That is why it's getting a 2 stars review. That's exactly what I felt when I we left dinner last night. I've def. had better Tex/Mex cuisine and I've had much better service!! We ate upstairs in the dinning room and this was my first time here. I don't think I'll be back. The chips and salsa was the best part of the meal. I ordered the Chicken Empanadas that was a special for the night. It was not a traditional Mexican crispy fried empanada. The shell was very doughy and it was filled with veggies and cubes of chicken that tasted more like a chicken pot pie. The only good thing about this dish was the small side salad it came with. The dressing was a avocado lime vinaigrette. That dressing was very tasty but I didn't order a salad, I ordered an empanada. Our server was nice but soooo slow! She walked in and out of the room we were dinning in 4 times before she bothered to ask us if we wanted any refills of water or our check. I might be back just for margaritas but that's only if I can stand the smokey bar long enough to finish my drink. The upstairs dinning room is non-smoking but you have to walk past the bar to get upstairs and it reeked of smoke.

Bar on the ground floor and restaurant on the 2nd floor- I've only been there for lunch mid-week. The sushi grade sliced Ahi Tuna appetizer is the best I've ever had! The rub is spicy and tuna delicious. If you don't try it, you are missing out. Overall, the other items on the menu do not disappoint and it is a reliable place for a good meal.

I've eaten here a number of times over the years and always enjoyed the food. From their burritos to their tacos to their chili rellano it's alllll good. I especially enjoy the chips & salsa they give you... good stuff, salsa is fresh and yummy. One criticism I have of Tex Mex is that there are too many tables. They cram them in and you feel like you don't have enough space to eat. We went the other day and had a great meal, great service... but we were seated in a room that had a party of about 25 people in it. They clearly made reservations for their party and booked space. I wasn't sure whether I was more annoyed to be in the room with them or if they should have been annoyed that we were in there. Oh, and parking can be a challenge. But that's my only criticism... good mexican food, good prices!

Was taken there for my birthday, so I didn't want to complain to my wife that it wasn't that great but she admitted that she felt the same. The food was pretty bland. We both felt like the meat in our tacos and our fajitas needed to be seasoned. The service was okay but nothing to brag about. I feel like a waitress was new so I don't want to knock her efforts. We were glad that they had a lot of items on their menu that were gluten-free. But I don't know if that will be enough to bring us back.

We ordered from here once and it wasn't that great. I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The food didn't taste that good...like it wasn't fresh. Definitely not one place I would go to again and definitely would not refer it to anyone else. The environment isn't that great either...

I ordered queso, which was served likewarm. The margarita was premade and poured into the glass. Brent, the bar tender (April 12th) served chips but no salsa. He proceeded with snatch the menu with my phone on it. Didn't offer to replace the empty glass. And there were less than 10 people at the bar on this Monday night. Awful all around.

Can put my finger on this place yet. But it gets four stars cause they have a limit on margaritas that u can consume. They must be heavily strong. I'll be the judge of that. Mixed crowd with a divey cool decore. TV's to watch the eagles n flyers on

Came in for a late bite to eat, around 9:30 on a Friday and were seated in the upstairs dining room. We ordered nachos and a pitcher of margaritas, the margaritas came out quickly but the nachos took longer than we expected and came out with the topping separate from the chips. Seconds after we were finished eating we were told by the host, rather abruptly, that the dining room was now closed and we had to leave, before we even finished our drinks. The food and drinks were decent but not worth putting up with the possibility of being addressed like that again, especially with many cheaper, better, and more friendly options available.

We've been living in the area for a few months, and though we saw in the reviews here that the food is bland, we decided to give it a shot, hoping it was just a bad night. Unfortunately, it looks like that's just how they prepare their food. My husband had pork tacos and he said they were, at best, "alright" with a lot of added salsa and hot sauce here at home. The rice was white and the beans were "well fried," which while healthier, is not better tasting. I had a chimichanga which was small (think dumpling sized) and flavorless. It was also lukewarm. We got an order of chips and guac, and there was no pico in it - just avocado and garlic. Again, bland is the word. The service was good enough for the brief encounter we had (take out), but we won't be returning. The food is too much "tex" and not enough "mex."

After a meeting nearby, we got hungry at brunch time on a weekday. This place was open and the kitchen was ready to serve lunch. They had a veggie quesadilla, which I enjoyed. Service was friendly. Decent experience overall, nothing special to make me say I'm a fan.

Delicious Mexican food, very fun vibe. Great for a date night or a family dinner. Awesome margaritas! Feels authentic and the decor is really neat as well. Clean and decent service. We went for dinner on a few date nights and always enjoy the food and atmosphere.

  • Elyse H.

I've been here a few times and keep hoping it gets better. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Everything I've tried is just mushy and flavorless. How hard is it to make good tacos? It's also very small and tends to always be crowded which is surprising. Maybe if i have a few margaritas the food will taste better. The chips and salsa are good though. Which is why I'm giving it two stars.

Don't go here if you want authentic Mexican or anything resembling tex mex. Uninspired, flavorless food is what is served. I needed 2 sides of sour cream to make up for the lack of flavor. Everything was over priced. Spent $50 for 2 margaritas and 2 meals. I was recommended to this place specifically for the margaritas but even those were over priced and not as strong as led to believe. I'd go to mad mex for tex mex fusion food and margaritas over this place any day!

I have been to this place twice so far. First time there were not many people but since eagles were playing so environ was high energy. Other than the location, which is quite in the heart of the neighborhood there is absolutely nothing special about the place. The same trend of few local drafts and few well known beers. There is one thing which is cool, that is the open areA outside, which I thought was pretty decent. The second time I came here The bartender was quite rude, which resulted in me having an argument with her and then leaving the bar. May be I m still getting used to the cold attitude of people on the east coast, I could be wrong but that's what I have experienced so far. So I don't blame her for being rude, it seems like the collective demeanor of the people. However the nature of the male bartenders was pretty warm when the visited the place the first time

Worst place ever!!! I had quesadilla and taco salad. Quesadilla was so tiny I thought it was kid's meal! It's not even appetizer size. It was 9 f&#ing dollars! Wawa quesadilla is way better than here. And taco salad? I don't even wanna mention it. On top of that they charge extra for more tortilla chips and salsa waitress supposed to say it's extra charge when we asked for. But she never said anything! We found out after we got check. Do not eat this place!!!!! It's not even worth to give one star!

I'm at Tex Mex right now! Love this place!!! Happy hour is hopping, but not hard to get drinks or food. The dinner and dessert specials look delicious but I came with a craving for the Del Mar Quesadilla, its my favorite! I have been coming here for many years and I always get great food and exceptional service. Thank you Tex Mex for doing what you do!!!

If I could rate zero start I would. We ate here last nigh with another couple, their two kids and our baby who is 13 months. The place was overly crowded, we didn't feel appreciated rather they just wanted us to finish to stick more people. My baby started getting fuzzy and I got up to calm her, my two niece and nephew came to tell me something, and out of the blue a bearded guy with earrings, medium complexion who looked like the manager came to my nephew and yelled at him that he just did something really dangerous, this "manager" talked to him like he was his soldier or his son, in a very bad tone, so I turned around and I said "what did WE do?" And he talks to me in the same tone telling me that the waiters were crossing there (we stand there -in an enough wide area- for about two minutes) I replied to him that the place -the upstairs restaurant- was overly crowded, he turn his head towards the door and tells me: "you have other options", like leaving, I said, and he smiled. He was very arrogant and mean to us. My family was very uncomfortable by this and the overstocked place, this is NOT a KIDS FRIENDLY PLACE. They don't even care about your business just about having lots of people. The food is nothing close to Mexican, the waiter was miserable, and nothing of what we order had a bit of salt. Which really wouldn't have matter if we would have felt appreciated and not undesirable. So in short, the chubby bearded guy with earrings kick us out because there was no room for my baby. I will also write to the owner every week about this humiliation to my family.

We stopped in for lunch, found our way up stairs. Had an awesome meal, I did combo of beef burrito and pulled pork chimi. Wife had chicken chimi and pork chimi we also enjoyed the house pickled jalapeños and a pitcher of margaritas. Everything was great....will be back soon.:-)

Very disappointed. We ate in the restaurant upstairs on Thursday night. Our waitress was miserable and the food was very bland with a kid sized portion. I felt like I was getting a happy meal. There was one man with a beard on the way out who was friendly with a smile...prob the owner or manager, but all he said was thanks for coming. He didn't even bother to ask how everything was and come to think of it neither did the waitress. I will not eat here again.

Not bad. Nothing special, but not bad. I generally end up here for lunch as I work down the street and the food has been pretty consistent. It's your typical Americanized Mexican favorites. The pulled pork tacos are probably the highlight of the place. Delicious. Bottomless chips and salsa are always a nice touch for the hungry lunch time crowd as well. While I don't generally drink here, I've heard the margaritas are the drink special and they are very strong.... maybe that's a good thing for some of us! On the flip side, I do think most of the dishes are a few bucks overpriced for the amount of food you receive. It's decent quality, but like I said, nothing special. Unfortunately the service has also been hit or miss for me lately. All that being said, I'm sure I'll be back next week.

The review would have started at 4 stars, a while ago. About 10 minutes ago it dropped to 3... I'm being completely ignored, and the bartender is wandering around to everyone else while still ignoring me. I tried placing my order, but he kept on walking. Yeah... Plastic cup, small pour, no service.... In a TexMex place on Cinco de Mayo. EPIC failure of service. Down to 2.... And when I finish my 12 oz. beer, I'm going to be walking out. Shame... The normal Tuesday bartender is good, and service is ok. Today.... Worthy of a 1 and I'll go to the grocery store to get something to cook.

My mom and I are always trying new places, especially Mexican food. Having had a lot of Mexican food I have a refined taste for it and know a thing or two. Granted its tex mex - I get that, not authentic. We got two light margaritas and they tasted like mix, come on make fresh margaritas. We order layered dip - very fresh. I got a chicken quesadilla and my mom got a chicken enchalada. My quesadilla looked like a child's plate and hardly any chicken at all, very bland. My moms was likewise not satisfying. So food gets 2 stars. Service was horrible. Don't remember the servers name as she didn't introduce herself. We were not offered any waters or sodas. We ordered the dip and finally after we picked at it for Atleast 10- 15 minutes she took our order. Choc brownie and coffee for desert was worth it. I will not return here, no point. Food is eh and service is terrible. Although hostess was very nice and enjoyable.

2 adults, 2 kids walk in at 6:45 on a Friday. Manager asked if we had a reservation, we said no. He said he could seat us, but that he'd need the table back in an hour. I've never been told this before, but wasn't an issue for this visit. There were at least 3 other tables open the entire time we were there, including when we left. Onto the food. While I truly appreciate a menu that specifically states what's gluten free (I'm a celiac) in this situation, it's more harm then help. This restaurant says that their tortilla chips and nachos are gluten free, and it's not true. The tortilla chips are fried in house in a non-dedicated fryer. The waitress (via the manager) confirmed this. When I asked why it was stated gf on the menu, she said it's because the cross contamination would be minimal and they've never had a complaint. I completely disagree with having a menu state that something is gluten free when it clearly is not. Besides that, the food really was not very good. I had enchiladas that were ok. My husband had an enchilada and burrito and said the same. He wasn't a fan of the chips and said the salsa was not good. We will not be returning. And shame on them for the false advertising....they are glutening unsuspecting people who will get sick and damage their body.

I still very much love this bar, but for the restaurant visitors... I would suggest just to stick with the bar menu. Nachos and tacos and sliders are tasty. Individual tacos are great. But entrees are over priced and only so-so. I just had the crab enchilada, the crab was crabby... Not in the delicious way, in the off putting way. The sauce was not great. My husband had the brisket. It was so-so also. It was tender but tasted like brisket I could have made in my crockpot, not restaurant smoked or BBQed brisket. Go for the awesome margaritas, good beer, and when it comes to food... Stick with the cheaper and simpler stuff. Much more worth it.

This review is based strictly on margs, decor, chips and guac. Margaritas: the best in this neck of the woods. Even better during happy hour - cheap, authentic and whoa, call a cab, will ya? There is a reason why there is a 2 marg limit during happy hour. These babies are not watered down and I appreciate it! Decor: Coming from the South/West,I appreciate the PA version of Tex Mex decor. Very thorough, very colorful, but with that fake flower PA Dutch twist (ok, so maybe they do that in Texas as well). Nonetheless, the bar is in the middle of the room, which makes it fun to sit at the bar, and the dining upstairs ensures a level of intimacy. Chips and Guac: This is wear s*** gets bad. It's BYOSalt for the guac, totally PA Dutch style here. Hot tip: order marg with extra salt on rim to use for guac. The chips are your standard fresh hot Mexican resto chip, and they do refill if you feel yourself getting sloshed by those darn margs. Recommendation: Go here if you're looking for decent margaritas in the area. Best I've had so far.

Bland. That one word describes the food in whole. This was our first visit to Tex Mex Connection and last. Let's start with service. Excellent, I believe her name was Christine? Attentive, proficient, friendly, patient. Move onto the drinks, I had a Tequila Tini - very good and a traditional margarita - very good. My girlfriend had a mango margarita, the first one that came out was too "spicy' for her. They offer a regular and a spicy mango margarita. Our server exchanged it and again it was too spicy. My girlfriend tasted my traditional and it was fine for her so no idea why the mango was spicy, which I tasted and agreed. Now to the food. This has to be the worst "Tex Mex" cuisine I ever had. The food here lacked seasoning. I had a three combo of four cheese enchilada with black mole which was very good, a beef and chorizo filled chile relleno - bland, and a shredded pork taco - bland, accompanied with WHITE rice with beans - bland, I had a side of house pickled jalapeños which were very good. My girlfriend had steak fajitas. - bland, The peppers and onions were cut too think and the meat, even thought supposedly marinated and then cooked medium was tough and chewy and sliced too thick. She had to ask for a steak knife to cut it so it was "chewable." Definitely not skirt to flank steak which ends up being tender with proper preparation, but top round. As an appetizer we had chile con quesso and a side of guacamole. The quesso was ok, think but decent flavor. The guacamole, here we go again - bland. I've had better guac at a sports bar. The salsa with the chips was very good, you could taste the fresh cilantro. Thankfully, our server took of the fajitas and the "spicy" margarita. All in, definitely not worth the time, let alone money. Definitely scratching this one off our list.

I have been eating dinner at Tex Mex for many years, and it is still delicious. We ordered our usual house/rocks/salt margaritas and dug into the complementary homemade chips and salsa. Tonight we had black bean soup (great flavor, texture and a hint of lime). Comes with option of sour cream, scallions, bacon, cheese and croutons as optional toppings. We also had Angels on Horseback which are five fairly large shrimp wrapped in bacon and broiled. Comes with honey mustard dipping sauce. These are my favorite appetizer by far. For dinner we had chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. Best mole anywhere around. Tried pulled-pork taco, but was a bit dry and probably wouldn't order that taco type again. Service was excellent. Friendly, on-time and helpful. (Have never had a problem with service here.) We'll be back.

Food is absolutely terrible, you're better off buying Mexican food in the frozen section of your grocery store because it's the same thing just a lot cheaper. A few of the bartenders are cool but BEWARE some of them WILL charge you for extra drinks. CONSUMER BEWARE!!!

Came here for lunch break at work and got the lump crab quesadilla which was pretty good. My buddy got the burger and said it was quite possibly the best burger he ever had. Definitely coming back tommorow to try the burger! Menu is pretty extensive with lots of good choices. Interior is so so but I would definitely come back!

My boyfriend and I are locals and we have consistently had amazing service, especially from the bar staff (Tex, Joe, Morgan are awesome!!). Today we decided to boycott local sports pubs and go to Tex Mex, and we are SO glad we did! Amazing service, as usual, and complimentary amazing apps at halftime. If for nothing else, show up with two minutes remaining in the first half, you won't regret it :)

When we first moved out here from the city, everyone told us OH YOURE SO LUCKY! Tex mex is right there! I think these folks might be going for the drinks and not the food. I've eaten Mexican all over the country - actually, all over the globe. This place is weak at best. The food is pretty gross. Since we don't drink I can't comment on the booze, but for food, save your pennies and go to cantina feliz in ambler.

Nice atmosphere but the food was not that great. The meal I got was burned and when the server saw that I only took 2 bites, he didn't ask what was wrong or anything. Will not be going back.

No no... So many things wrong with this place - starting with their prices are too high for what they have to offer.. Maybe if you focus just on alcohol ... And food is a secondary requirement - it's a good place to watch a game ... Alone ... We ordered the special drink - steak wrap. Steak quesadilla , chicken quesadilla. Chips qon queso. The food is too bland. Even salsa tastes off The serving size is too small. The food is actually tastes 'sweetened' No complimentary chips salsa ( ok some places don't do that) In all, does not even come close to satisfying your Mexican fix. But just as another around the corner dining place ... I guess it's ok.. But seriously too steep a package.

If you want good Mexican food, don't go to this place, very average food, the beer is flat, and the service is under par, won't come back here for sure.

Epically strong margaritas. Their food with seafood in is good as well. This is texmex food not to be confused with Mexican. It's fusion. If you are looking for authentic Mexican then go to Norristown.

I really liked this place a lot and I always looked forward to their great pulled pork and sweet potato fries but last time I wasn't as impressed with the service. They asked me and my friend to pay before eating! Bizarre and insulting. It's a shame because they do have good food. Also, they don't like special requests to the order, which is annoying. I will try them again and I'll hope for the best.

Disappointed with upstairs dinner. Combination platters over-priced and way under-portioned. Downstairs bar fare is amazing. Quesadillas and build-your-own nachos are fantastic. The BBQ pork sandwich is effing awesome! Only about a dozen beers on tap, but usually 6-8 of those are good, quality brews. People rave about their margaritas, but I'm not a suburban fratty looking for questionable consent to bang the local talent, so I wouldn't know. The bar is a good place to watch the Phillies game on a weeknight but, with the limited options in North Wales, the place gets packed on weekends and for their monthly tiki parties. Avoid those times. Bottom line: Great Tex, avoid the Mex.

I had dinner at Tex Mex last night with my wife. It was a special occasion but we did not mention it until later. Our server was Mark. He was attentive and clearly answered all of our questions since we were first time diners at Tex Mex. The place wasn't very busy but for a Tuesday around 8, it's what I expected. Service was very good. On to the food. Wife had beef enchilada, I had Baja taco and chimichanga combo. Price was a little higher than other local places but food was better in my opinion. It was piping hot, well prepared and presented. Portion sizes were a little smaller than some other places but since everything was delicious, I ate everything including the beans and rice. Problem with large portions is no room for dessert. We split a cheesecake flan. It was out of this world. Mark took the dessert off the bill when he heard us talking about our anniversary. It's also worth mentioning it was Margherita night so there's another bonus. Overall it was a great experience. I highly recommend Tex Mex. I also recommend reservations on normally busy nights. The reason I hadn't been before was the wait. Well worth it.

Make sure you get your receipt at the end of the night. The bartenders will add there own tip to it. The worst part is that they will admit that they do it!!! Most likely never going back.

They have decent food, strong drinks, and now they are smoke-free. We live close enough to walk, which has helped out on occasion. Trivia on Wednesday night, which is pretty fun!

This is 'murican mexican, with huge portions of fried stuff and big strong sugary yellow drinks. Some are into that sort of thing and willing to pay big bucks for it, as evidenced by how packed this place was on a Sunday. Me, I prefer Mole Poblano and tequila of my choice served neat down the road at El Sarape.

I'll start by saying that I have high standards for Mexican restaurants. I have my favorites, and they have all rightfully earned my admiration. I once visited Tex Mex Connection with a work friend years ago when I first moved to Philadelphia. Looking back, my impression was based highly on the fact that I hadn't yet found a Mexican restaurant on the East Coast. Five years later I can offer my honest assessment,... and it isn't great. A "WARNING... MAXIMUM 3 MARGARITAS PER PERSON" sign greats you upon entrance. So, their margaritas are strong or are the liquor laws that stringent in Lansdale? The first floor houses a full bar, while the restaurant is upstairs. The chips and salsa aren't that great... the salsa is extremely mild. (What Mexican restaurant DOESN'T stock hot sauce? And no, I don't think Tabasco is a viable option). My experience was that the food was average and the service was slow. Inclusive of chain restaurants, I understand suburbia offers very little in terms of good food. But sometimes a hole-in-the-wall will pop up and surprise you. Unfortunately, Tex Mex Connection is not one of them.

I can only give this place three stars because I was put off with the fact that they still allow smoking in the bar area. While they boast that the dining rooms are smoke free, you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get to them, defeating the purpose of wanting a smoke free environment. I have had the tacos here, and think they are pretty good, but with being a Mexican place, I think they should offer soft corn tortillas as an option. I recently tried the bacon wrapped shrimp and found it to be quite amazing. Everything was cooked evenly, and the presentation was pretty good as well. I think they could have used larger shrimp, considering the price for the portion, but the flavor made up for it. I tried the white sangria, when I should have went for the margarita like I wanted to, and wasn't impressed by this either. There was no fresh fruit in the sangria, and it was overly sweet. It tasted more like a fruity cocktail then a chardonnay white sangria. The service was great as we didn't feel rushed through the meal. I also liked that one the bill came and was paid, we weren't rushed out of the restaurant. I would consider going back here, if I am not in the mood to drive to Las Margaritas.

Wow, what a disaster this night was... visiting my brother, we chose this Tex Mex place thinking there would be some Southwest flair. Everything seemed nice at first - it's a neat place and we ate upstairs. After our drink order, the waitress came back with the news they're out of our chosen draft beer (a Mexican beer - should have lots of that, guys!). Just before we order, we're told they're out of the veggie fajitas (my wife's choice). She chooses the portobello fajita instead. A few minutes later, the hostess comes to say that they're out of that, too. But the chef will make a special veggie fajita for her, using some other things they do have. (We were told they were out of the veggie fajitas???) The chips were so good (a high point of the meal) that we ate the basket quite quickly (there were 5 of us), so we put it on the side of the table to signal for a refill. It was ignored for at least 10 minutes. My wife wanted more coffee, but the waitress did not come over at all after taking our order - we think she was intimidated by the fact that we had several things go wrong already. My wife finally got up and went to the nearby bar service station and asked someone there for a refill. When our food came out (not too long of a wait), they also got us more chips (finally!). The best meal of the 5 was a steak, medium rare with potatoes. Two of their 'combo platters' were very meager in size but both people were rather OK with them. My wife's 'special veggie fajita' was so disappointing she only ate half of one wrap. Some of the veggies were almost raw, while others were overdone and mushy, but it was the lack of flavor that struck her the most. They must've just thrown some chopped veggies in butter and cooked them til warm, then added some already-cooked peppers/onions and put it on the sizzle-plate to come out. No flavor at all. She brought most of it home to 'doctor up' into something tasty the next night. My meal was three tacos- standard fare for any imitation mexican place. I asked for beef, chicken and fish, and requested real taco shells - the soft corn tortillas. They came out on one tortilla each (any self-respecting taqueria serves tacos on two tortillas), and they were stuffed full, the waitress said because the standard flour tortillas or crunchy shells are bigger. As soon as I picked up the first taco, it started to fall apart - needs 2 tortillas! But the biggest surprise was when I took a bite and quickly put it back down before it made a mess. Chewing it up, I wasn't sure exactly what I was eating... was that the chicken or the beef? It literally did not taste like anything. I could not taste the meat, the cheese, the tomatoes or the lettuce. It was like eating cardboard. So I took a bite of the next one (lighter meat, so it must've been chicken), and got the exact same sensation. I might have been chewing on my napkin, for all I could tell. Even the fish taco had very little flavor, except for two bites in the middle where there was a blob of some kind of spicy sauce. The other 3 bites tasted like nothing. A spoon of salsa on each of the others helped a little. When the waitress came back to ask if things are OK, I just smiled. She inquired again, and I told her about the missing tortillas - to which she said, 'well we are not a Mexican restaurant.' WOW! no kidding..... Anyway, to avert a mess, she brought tortillas and that did help keep the tacos from disintegrating. But it couldn't help their quality. That was beyond the lowest taqueria I have ever visited. For a tex-mex place to mess up tacos this bad is just ridiculous. The poorly conceived & executed 'special veggie fajita' was maybe excusable since they were under pressure, but tacos????? come on.... Now, after reading this, you might think my wife and I are just 'problem guests' but if you look at my other posts, you will see that we recognize good places and good service just as much as we 'call out' the bad places. We try to be fair. This place was just bad.... at least for us.

I've been going to Tex Mex for about 3 years now and using it as one of our main happy hour spots solely due to its location in relation to work. In all honesty, I haven't had a ton off their food menu due to my dislike of Tex Mex style food, however, the food I have had was always ok. Nothing special about it but it does the trick when your loaded up, trying to sneak past the 3 margarita maximum. Yes that's right, they have a maximum on these deadly concoctions, and for good reason too. They are strong to the taste... so much that I need to let them water down a little bit before I can sip it like the sophicated gent that I am... pinky out. They just renovated the joint, so it's much more cleaned up than before and there's also more room to move around. They also did away with smoking (last year I think) so that's a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it. I prefer it because I don't smell like the bottom of Ke$ha's purse when I walk out. The bartenders are OK and that's about it. Depending on if they are standing around talking to each other, or going outside for a smoke break will depend on how quick you get a drink. Minimum time in my experience has been within a minute; maximum was 25 minutes, in which I decided to leave. Don't get me wrong, when you get their attention, they're friendly and can chat you up, but drinks come first, preferably in a timely manner. They have an upstairs area away from the bar that caters to the family crowd which is nice and pretty secluded from the bar... probably a good thing for those with kids. All in all, I like Tex Mex. Good booze, good atmosphere, and good location for the locals. I can't speak much to the food so this is something you'll just have to check out for yourself. But if your looking for a HH spot with decent margaritas, this is your place. Go here.

This is a fun place to come for dinner. It's always lively downstairs at the bar and much quieter and relaxed upstairs. The margaritas are super strong so take your time! The foot is good, nothing out of the ordinary but certainly good.

I like that there were young people there, & there was more than 1 bartender. I'd go back to check out trivia or karaoke. However, I think the food is overpriced for the portion size & quality. The pulled pork tacos were the smallest tacos I've ever seen, had little flavor, & were cold. Not even warm. Very blah.

Tex Mex has been the source of thousands of hangovers for many years. There is a reason they put a (3) drink limit on their margarita's. I don't ever find myself going to Tex Mex to eat but more for a few drinks with friends. In the summer they close their parking lot and have a huge outdoor Tiki party that is usually packed.

I have been to tex mex numerous times generally on Thursday nights with some friends and the service at the bar is terrible. The margaritas are decent, it's local and they usually have a decent beer selection but after the terrible service on multiple separate occasions I decided I will not be returning anymore. The bar tenders give me attitude every time I ask them to close out my tab, and are very inattentive. They are often rude, abrupt, and offensive. After two drinks and sitting there for over an hour (not Margs )they asked me if I was driving home (which I wasn't I was with a few friends) and then continued to follow me outside to after I repeatedly told them no. On top of all this, they always seem miserable. The food is okay and the chips and salsa are good. Good luck with the bartenders.

The red headed bar tender is an ignorant man. Rude and snooty to customers... I'll find a better place to spend my money

I have three words for you. Del Mar Quesadillas. They are outstanding. My mouth is watering thinking about them. Shrimp, bacon, onions, peppers all cooked in a delicious spicy sauce, then drizzled with a southwest ranch dressing that is perfect. I could honestly eat these every night. Margaritas are also amazing too lol.

I gave the food another try tonight, but really, it's still terrible. I hope they're not paying their chef too much, because anyone could make these dishes, but better, at home. No complaints about drinks, beer selection, service, decor, etc. Only worthy of 3 stars for me overall.

Birthday celebration, so much fun, 4 of us on a Sunday afternoon. Make reservations for sure, as the dining room is pretty small. We ordered the traditional margaritas in a pitcher. You will get about four drinks. The price and servings make it the best deal for cocktails. The food is very good too, but filling. Order light or share if you are drinking and eating. A tip: we also had a drink at the bar on the first floor. These flavored margaritas were not as good as the tradition. Stay simple, don't get the syrupy sweet fruity flavors.

This is a great place to go with friends for drinks. I've never actually been here for food so I can't say anything about that... This has been our meetup place when my friends and I would come home from college because of it's central location in North Wales AND THEIR MARGARITAS! I recently went back and while the drinks remained the same, the vibe was different. We were there on a Saturday night and it was almost empty. I'm hoping this was just by accident! Anyway, you can take home their house margarita mix I think for around $16ish. Just add booze!

"WIngs" review only!! And I am a wing fan. A new #1 wing find in Montco, in my opinion, are the sweet and sweaty wings at Tex Mex. Oh my, these were very very good. PJ's Smee-j's, these are better than the hot and honey wings at PJ Whelihan's. BTW, they went along perfectly with the Founder's Centennial IPA on tap. Life doesn't get much better than this!

I'm mainly giving this place 4 stars because they have the best complementary tortilla chips in probably the whole entire world. They have some sort of seasoning on them that is absolutely delicious. The salsa is pretty good too... a little bit hot, but I'm also a wimp when it comes to heat. I've only really eaten actual food here once, and I got a quesadilla. For just a tortilla and cheese, tt was pretty pricey and I probably wouldn't eat there again. The drinks are good... margs are very strong, with a 3 marg limit, with a bunch of flavors you can get. The crowd is typical lansdale.

Pretty awesome food...nice that they give you chips & salsa(unlike Mad Mex)...and my frozen cherry margarita was very yummy. Our waitress was very nice. Dining room is SMALL though. But I would definitely go back.

Wow. The food is shockingly bad. We couldn't even choke down the nachos. I do like the look and feel of the bar, and they have a nice selection of craft beers, but never again on the food!

Ate a business lunch here with 2 others in the bar area. We got the nachos with chicken for an appetizer plus the cheese quesadillas . Both were very good. I got a burger for my entree which was also good. Service was friendly and efficient. Menu is extensive.

Every time a coworker or a friend invites me to go a happy hour at Tex Mex I cringe; the food is bland and non impressive as is their drinks/liquor list, yet each time I go trying to give them yet another chance to see what it is that everyone likes there... My friends enjoy their margaritas since they are strong, however they use a generic sour mix and it is not made fresh (they use canned or premade mixes for most all of their drinks). For food, they used to have fried green tomatoes which were decent, but those are not on the menu anymore. They also have limited vegetarian options. I ordered the guacamole which was bland and instead of being the normal green in color it was brown/grayish...yuck! The bartenders are also a trip and are inattentive and a bit rude but seem to have gotten better since the last visit I was there. I will say they have done a good job with trying to update the decor to make it look better. Parking is always difficult to find as their lot and surrounding areas are always full. There are plenty of other good mexican places in the area, La Plaza Azteca for example.

One of the worst dining experiences I have had. Service was bad, food was poor, overall negative experience. I contacted the restaurant through the website contact page afterwards to tell them about our experience with a very rude server who got indignant and loud with me, and basically ignored our needs during dinner after bringing unwanted food (that we wound up paying for). No one ever responded - which means I guess, that they don't care. It's par for the course there. I wouldn't go back if you paid me.

Our search for a new go-to Mexican restaurant is officially over. Thanks to all who competed but Tex Mex Connection blew you away. The restaurant is definitely different, all bar on the ground floor with a fairly small and rather cramped restaurant on the second floor. Thank god we had an OpenTable reservation. On a side note, I really need to stop mentioning OpenTable or eventually people will realize how easy it is and that causes me to no longer be able to make reservations as I leave the house just to essentially cut in line anymore. I've even made a reservation for 5 minutes later while standing in a restaurant that just told me there'd be an hour wait minimum, rechecked in and been seated ... suckers. But I digress, back to the review. We were seated at a table as soon as we checked in and we're quickly ordering a pitcher of margaritas and appetizers. Followed quickly thereafter by entrees and another pitcher of margaritas. The food came out quickly and was absolutely incredible. The triple combo platter was designed to cater to fat people, but allowing you to also keep buying single tacos one at a time until you can't take anymore is a stroke of fat guy target marketing genius. On to the margaritas ... the pitchers were large, the flavor was perfect and the term STRONG doesn't do them justice. When we left I felt fine, I had just downed a couple pounds of food and I'm not exactly a little guy. As I drove home I started to get a little buzz going. About half way home I was committing a misdemeanor ... by the time I pulled into the driveway it was a full blown felony in progress. Thank god I aced the drunk driving car in Driver's Ed ... Our dinner companions decided to just hang out at our house for a couple hours after we got back because they were in no condition to drive either. I can't recommend Tex Mex Connection highly enough. But if you go and plan on partaking in the Margaritas make sure you designate a driver ... they hit you hard and fast.

The margaritas are definitely the draw here. The food is pretty average, not great or terrible. The service is pretty average as well, hence the 3 star rating.

I actually created this account in order to write a review for this restaurant after being so surprisingly disappointed with my experience. My wife and I went to dinner here for the first time in about a year and a half...we had always been very pleased with this restaurant in the past. Unfortunately, the only thing worse than our food was our service. I'm not sure if there is new ownership...what ever the reason, my recommendation is to stay away.

Update: They no longer allow smoking! Tex Mex is a pretty good place. It's one of the few straight up Mexican places in the area thats not franchised. I haven't eaten too much from here since I only frequent the bar usually, but I order their tacos from time to time and they have always been delicious. If you want to get very drunk very fast I would suggest their margaritas, they have a house limit of 3 but that is really all you need to get you feeling pretty good. The bar downstairs usually gets pretty crowded and is never dominated by one age group. It's always a pretty good mix between younger and older. Music is usually done by a touch tunes jukebox but every now and then they'll have a live band play. My only real complaint is that they allow smoking indoors. Normally that kind of thing doesn't really bother me but since it's the only bar in town that I know of that allows smoking, all the smokers kind of congregate there and it can get VERY smokey. All in all Tex Mex is a pretty awesome place, you should try it sometime

I've had better Mexican food. The Angels on horseback were dry, the portions were small and the food was ok. The fiancé had a sangria which was small and had no fruit in it. Our server was delightful and the bar looks fun, but I probably won't return.

Tex Mex has great food and great margaritas! I love the chips and salsa as well. This is not mexican food...but texmex! The upstairs dining room is quieter and I love the decor. The bar downstairs is smoking which I don't love. It can get very crowded, but the margaritas are well worth it!!

Just had dinner there tonight... I would go back, but only because the service was great. The food is so-so... not authentic mexican by any means, not an extensive menu, BUT the cornbread is wonderful. The downstairs bar smells like cigs, since they allow it, but ONLY downstairs (main dining is upstairs). The place got pretty crowded for the Phillies game, but no one seemed to be having a problem getting served. This is a decent place, small, but not horrible. I'd go again, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who knows real Mexican. And not to toot my own horn, but I just had to brush my shoulders off.

(This review is just for the bar. I'd give the restaurant more stars.) I have had many margaritas in my time, and these are not the best. When I'm paying $8 a piece for them, I expect them to have a bit of tequila in them. I had four of them and was still bizarrely sober, and I am a total lightweight. (My friend, however, was DRUNK. The bartender handled her weird confessions well, and made sure she had a ride home, which was nice.) The clientele here is what I'd expect for a North Wales establishment: bros. Total bros. Yelling across the bar to each other about football and trying to outdrink each other, it felt like I was in a frat house rather than North Wales. I would venture to say that the bar clientele on Friday night was 70% male. Sausagefest. Being from New York City, I totally did not appreciate being surrounded by smokers either. I had zero cigarettes and came out smelling like I had smoked five packs and rolled around in a pile of cigarette butts afterwards. Nasty. I don't plan to go to the bar again.

I was at Tex-Mex just over a week ago and while there ordered two drinks. The first is paid for and tipped it cash. The second I paid for on a debit card and left a tip in cash. When it was pending on my card the charge was correct, when posted it was three dollars higher. Clearly a tip was added. When called the bartender informed us that because my receipt was unsigned it was completely ok for the bartender to choose to add their own tip of any amount. Now let's talk about how we waited 10 mins at the bar for someone to be able to even take a drink order then another 10 mins after I made it clear that I was paying my tab for that drink only and asked for a copy of my receipt, finally giving up when it was clear that serving us was not a priority. Aside from the fact that it is ABSOLUTELY illegal to "choose" to change someone as you see fit, lesson learned, I'll be sure never to leave something unsigned. That being said I have zero faith that this BEYOND dishonest establishment wouldn't have chosen to add something extra anyways. Does $3 change my life no, but I'm sure it's adding up for those bartenders. Disgusted.

Excellent Margaritas (they have a 3 marg max). Dos Equis on tap! Warm chips and hot salsa! Best wings I've ever had - the sweet and sweaty were nice and spicy slightly sweet sauce. Love the baja shrimp quesadilla. (this and the wings are my usual meal). Also good - enchiladas, tacos, chile relleno. I don't eat red meat but one of my friends gets an amazing looking steak with grilled scallions. Awesome neighborhood place - I live really far from here but one of my friends turned me onto it - I have driven from the city out here on several occasions!

Food: Mixed. This is not authentic Mexican cuisine, and the quality varies. Some items, such as the Puerco Achiote, Rio Grande Red and green beans were pretty good, but others fell short, notably the tortillas which tasted store-bought. The rice was fair, and the soda tasted funny. Service: Capable, though a bit rushed. Dining room: Typical nouveau-Mexican decor. Some tables have reasonable space, others are crowded together, to the extent that it was hard not to have chair backs colliding with those at the next table. Bottom line: It was not horrible, but a short drive will take you to better.

I've been to Tex Mex twice now, once for a happy hour (bar and nook on the first floor), and once for dinner upstairs on the 2nd floor. The first time I went (for the happy hour), I found the staff to be incredibly friendly and accomodating. The little sitting nook they have on the first floor was awesome for hanging out with a large group of people with drinks if you don't want to be in the bar area. Our waitress was wonderful, but I was disappointed after she closdus out because her shift ended since no one ended up replacing her to take care of us. However, as a non-smoker who cannot stand the overwhelming smell of smoke, the Tex Mex bar is not a place I'd like to be. Despite being in the nook, all of my clothes still reeked of smoke the next day. The dining area is upstairs and is very small. Both times I have been there, they have also been hosting a party or banquet in half of the upstairs room-- this leaves only 4-5 tables for seating so MAKE A RESERVATION even on weekdays!! When I went to order Sunset Shrimp our waitress suggested I try the spinach and crab burritos instead (which I had been considering). I was so glad that she did-- these burritos are AWESOME. Huge chunks of crab meat and spinach in a crispy burrito shell with a slightly spicy tomato sauce on top. I am drooling just thinking back to last night. And did I mention their margaritas are awesome? Just be careful, they are STRONG, which is why Tex Mex implements a 3 margarita maximum. So: Great food, great margartias, good service but small space and super smoky bar-- a very solid 4.

This review is for karaoke/bar area: First of all, the downstairs is very very small. There's no room to move and they have these large round top tables that take up a lot of space. Poor planning on the owners part. They have the darts board RIGHT next to the tables... so basically, duck when you are sitting over there or you'll get hit with a metal dart. The bartenders were friendly, but the drinks are overpriced and the margarita's are weak. I didn't have any of the food. WARNING: THIS IS A SMOKING - BAR. ***WHO*** still has a smoking bar?? Whatever happened to the smoking ban?! And to have karaoke featured at your bar - it's not something that goes together. The brain trusts don't seem to run a smart ship here. I'll steer clear -- no 2nd visit necessary. I've had to wash my clothes 3 times now to get the smoke smell out.

I really didn't know how many stars to give Tex Mex. We have a love-hate relationship: Things I love: - The strength of the margaritas - The chips & queso (I crave this regularly) - The crowd, to be honest. Not sure why. - The service Things I hate: - The strength of the margaritas - The food, other than the chips & queso - The smoking in the bar area. Disgusting. Despite the 3 marg maximum, which I have seen enforced, I frequently witness out-of-hand customers, public vomiting, and people being carried out by their friends. This is somehow a challenging review for me. But let's be honest for a second and realize that, among the nearby bars we're comparing Tex Mex to, this place is a contender. Mmm, I think I'm gonna go grab a marg and some queso now, rain be damned.

While I didn't love the bar as a hang out the only time I went (there wasn't much going on and we didn't find it to be an overly friendly place), we go back again and again for dinner. Their food is spectacular. I could eat a chimichanga from there everyday. I find that their combo dish is a great deal (you can choose one, two, or three items). I generally just get the chimichanga as the only item in my "combo" (it's not really a combo, I guess if you only get one thing) and while that might not be enough for some, the fact that it's paired with rice and beans makes it a perfectly sized meal for me at a low price. They also have complimentary chips and salsa (great starter), so having a little less for dinner isn't such a bad thing. And save room for the margaritas. Blended and on the rocks are both the perfect compliment to a meal!

My husband and I enjoyed the food but were definitely disappointed in the frozen margaritas that Tex Mex Connection prides themselves on. Both of our margaritas were weak and tasteless. So much so that we called the waitress over to ask about them. She handled the situation well and took them back to the bartender to see if there were any problems. She came back apologetically and said this was the usual margarita but that the bartender had run them through the blender again. They were only marginally better. While we enjoyed our visit to Tex Mex Connection, we were sorely disappointed in the margaritas and probably won't return.

First off, the bar is great. I live in the area and enjoy hitting up the bar about twice a month or more. The bartenders are awesome and they usually have at least 1 craft draft beer option. And if that 1 option isn't up your alley, they at least have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale bottles. And last year they actually had Troegs Nugget Nectar! 'Twas bliss. Now onto the food... Its bad. I mean, I really don't know how it is I find myself going against the grain on this. Seriously, every single time I've eaten here, I've been disappointed. Where's the flavors indicative of true southwest cuisine? Everything tasted bland, and if part of the entree wasn't rubbery, it was completely dried out and tough. This lead me to believe that the food was previously frozen, and then microwaved for serving. And the guacamole? Just awful. Its as thin as it is tasteless and colorless. I don't even think there's real avocado in it - it tastes more like cheap sour cream with a powdered guac mix and maybe some cilantro. The chips and salsa are about the only bright spot, because of their price - free! But even free couldn't get me past the poor quality of the taco I had after running in their 5K last month. I tossed it after two bites. I hate to dog on a neighborhood establishment so much. But there are so many better southwestern/mexican/central american options in the area - though none of them have as cool of a bar. I'll still give their food a shot from time to time - but they've got a lot to overcome.

What more can I ask for when there's a pitcher of frozen margarita in my hands after a stressful day? AND it only cost $16 on Tuesday nights! This place is full of awesomeness. I love the decor, the bar where you can smoke(I know some of you don't like this but since I am a smoker, I an in favor of smoking bars), and the friendly staff. A pitcher of that said margarita comes out to about 4 glasses. It is not weak. A whole 2 pitchers shared between 4 girls usually end in singing to whatever tune we hear... oh boy, how perfect! They have Karaoke nights on those Tuesday nights! So we sing the night away. I haven't tried their food yet but from what I hear, it's totally awesome. The only downside is that the ladies restroom downstairs is just for one person and as the night progress, that restroom gets filthy.

A great dish of food served with social responsibility! HUH?? First, I will parrot other reviewers about the fantastic food here, you just aren't going to get better southwestern food around these parts. It's all good and has been good for 25 years! We aren't locals, but have gladly made the trek here many times since the place started as just a 1 floor bar with killer food. Now the downstairs is a fun bar and great dining goes on upstairs. But..... That's not what my review is about..... TexMex is one of only 8 restaurants in our state that is certified as "GREEN". This is really cool stuff....They have revamped their systems to such a point that they re-cycle everything recyclable... even the uneaten food which would be thrown in the garbage is now picked up by a company who makes compost with it. Almost all produce is LOCAL and ORGANIC. all cleaning products are non harmful to the environment, the manager even showed me this Darth Vader looking spray gun that takes normal tap water and ionizes it allowing it to be sterile when they clean the tables between guests. Since the implementation of this, they have reduced their trash 95%. There is so much more that I was told about but alas, I have the memory retention of a starfish! All I can say is that it's way cool and socially responsible without the place seeming "eggheaded" I, for one am so very impressed with the attitude of the owner to do this. Other than a few small signs, they don't make a huge deal of it, but they should.. however, they don't have to 'cause the food really does the talking at Tex Mex! So, now dinner at Tex Mex is not only delicious but socially responsible! How 'bout that? I, for one..LIKE IT!

What can I say, i have been going here for years. I absolutely love the chips and salsa the MARGARITAS are to die for. There is a reason there is a 3 house limit. They are very potent. Taste delicious and do the job. The upstairs dining room is tiny and if you want an intimate atmosphere, this is not the place. It tends to be loud do the close quarters. The food is great and I have tried all different items from the menu. I highly recommend going here.

Best thing about Tex Mex is the Margaritas! Personally, I prefer on the rocks with salt. But anyway you like your Margaritas, they make them strong. The TMC puts a 3 Margarita Limit on all guests. I've been to Tex Mex a few times for Happy hour and late night. The timing of Happy Hour specials disappoints. Happy Hour runs from 4-6PM. I don't know about you, but I can hardly get to happy hour and get a drink before specials are over. But maybe that's their plan? But even without the specials, food and drink prices are reasonable.Tex Mex is a fun place to relax after work or late night, have some excellent Margaritas and munchie food. Some of my favorite foods at the TMC are: crab quesadillas, fried avocados and plantains, and the empanadas. All and all, a really reasonably priced neighborhood hangout.

One of our favorite restaurants in North Wales - good food, decent service, amazing margaritas. Parking is a bit tight but the owners are continually making positive changes - smoke free bar area that was recently remodeled and now they're adding an outside area as well.

Great place for happy hour. The margaritas are good (a bit expensive but good) and I like that they offer lots of different flavors if you are in the mood for trying something new. They also make a pretty good sangria (according to my friend anyway). Appetizers offered in the downstairs bar area are always a hit. When upstairs, I especially enjoy ordering the fish tacos or one of their quesadillas. And make sure to leave room for some of their amazing, buttery corn bread!!

Don't even waste your time! Quesadillas are pre made?! Proudly informed by our waitress, Leah. Tacos were heating in microwave! Hard shell was stale/soft like last nights dinner! Personally I feel like this is below Taco Bell level; at least they make you quesdillas to order. Just plain not good at all, would not recommend to anyone and that's why I rate it one star!

Very traditional mexican food. Very good. Good service and very personal.

Gotta boost the rating of Tex Mex from 3 to 4 stars on account of the fact they finally banned smoking inside. As I said before, great margaritas and decent food. Good place for what it is, fun hangout with a bite to eat.

The food was just ok. I would recommend that you go on a Wednesday to take advantage of a free combo item. I've gone here twice now. The first time the food was pretty good. The second time (recently) was just so-so. The complimentary chips were good. But the chimichangas I ordered for dinner had wrappings which were way too thick. The chicken filling was a bit bland. The taco salad that my wife got was a bit underwhelming in size and taste. The strength of this place from what I hear are the margaritas. So, if you do go, make sure you order one of these at least. It might save you from the mediocre food. If you want a tastier Mexican place, try Rey Azteca's in Warminster. By the way, I didn't order sodas on my second visit because the the first time I went, they didn't have free refills. I didn't check to see if this policy was changed.

In town from Denver, needed a place to meet a friend for dinner. Found this place on Yelp! and appreciated the reviews. Service was prompt and efficient, food was unusually tasty for most Mexican. Good value. Seemed a bit strange that the bar was smoker friendly - but wasn't annoying. Glad I found this place. Would be good for a date or business dinner.

I've never been anywhere near Texas or Mexico, but I've had my fill of bad chain "Mexican' food. The food is good. The bar can get very busy, it seems to be the local hangout, and the margaritas have a good reputation. There is a dining area upstairs, away from the 'bar area', but we've been there when fights have broken out in the bar (in the very early evening) and you could clearly hear the ruckus upstairs. I'd look at this place as a bar that has food upstairs rather than a restaurant that has a bar downstairs. It is quieter at lunchtime, and I have been there with suit-and-tie business people for lunch. If I wanted 'TexMex' style food and beer, I'd definitely go here. If I wasn't looking for beer, I would be more likely to go to El Cactus, which has a less ebullient atmosphere..

TEX MEX CONNECTION!! I moved from Philly back to my hometown after graduation and was very concerned about the lack of options and variety being back in suburbia. Chain restaurants and bars in strip malls just aren't my peice of pie, nor are the bars that every single college kid in the surrounding 5 towns comes home and goes to. Needless to say, Tex Mex was a bit of a saving grace, if you will. There are two floors. The upstairs is just a dining room and the downstairs consists of one small dining room and the bar area. . It is usually pretty easy to find seating of some sort in the bar, but if not you can just stand along the wall until something opens up (there is a bar like shelf on 3 walls) Tuesday Nights - Karoke Night. Wednesday Night - Trivia Night and 4 dollar margs for the ladies. 3 tvs (? Im pretty sure..maybe 4) that usually have some sort of game on it and 1 dart board for entertainment any night of the week. A juke box if your craving your own tunes. I've never had one of their margaritas, but apparently they get you pretty blasted so proceed with caution (there is a 3 limit rule). You get free chips and salsa if you ask the bartender. Very good. If you are eating the food, I recommend the chicken chimichangas if thats your kind of deal. They are kind of small, so 2 or 3 is usually your best choice. But they ALWAYS hit the spot when I'm craving mexican. My girlfriend LOVES the sweet and sweaty wings. I'm not a huge wing person, but I'll even have a few of these when she gets them bc they are good (not spicy). My girlfriend and I always go here for a beer or two and, despite swearing that we won't, stay until close at 2. Usually makes for a really rough wake-up on a work morning. Crowd is mixed. Dinner seems to be more families. Bar area is a range from 21-50 year olds on any given night. But the atmosphere is a perfect balance - not so rowdy that you cant hear the people your with, but not so dull that you are rushing through your first beer to get out there. It really very nice. I likey alot. The only thing I think Tex Mex needs is outside seating for the summer (which they apparently do ONE night, on Cinco De Mayo sp? in the back parking lot). And Maybe a pool table.

I've been by the bar a few times now, and although there's kind of a weird mix of people in there, I enjoy it. The margaritas are good, the food is standard (if not tasty) tex-mex, and the bartenders are attentive. It's never been so crowded that you couldn't find a seat, but I've only ever been there on weeknights.

Two words... Corn. Bread. Hands down the most delicious corn bread I've ever tasted. I would also ask about their homemade hot sauce. ***Please note - ordering hot sauce at this place is kind of like dating my girlfriend, it comes with a disclaimer - sweet at first, but all you taste afterwards is scorching hot...

My alltime favorite Mexican spot. great margaritas and incredible food. So finally after all the years going here I can right a review. I was just here for a b-day dinner. First off the complete staff here are the best in the biz, they are knowledgable, friendly and fun (without being annoying). They always have specials which always make you change your initial selections. You will never be disappointed here.

Tex Mex has decent food, but it is the only bar in the area that still allows smoking. I'm mostly ranking on the upstairs because the downstairs bar in my books is NO stars because of the smoking and the obnoxious crowd of drinkers. The first basket of chips and salsa is complimentary but after that you have to pay. The chips are pretty good but I prefer a fresher tasting salsa. The food has gone down hill since I've become a vegetarian. It was always really good but the vegetarian stuff just tastes like they open up a can of beans and spread a ton of cheese on a tortilla and call it a dish. Mexican food should have WAY more flavor than that. Especially with all of the vegetables you could use to make it amazing. Personally I feel that baja fresh makes a much better veg taco, enchilada, salad and burritos. We do love the sangria but it definitely doesn't get us as drunk as it should. We still go back for some reason, I guess because its pretty close to our house. Another reason we go back is my husband loves their chicken Caesar salad. While their food and drinks are nothing to brag about the Oaxacan chocolate ice cream is to die for. It is spicy and chocolate and simply melts in your mouth. It is the reason I keep coming back, because although their food doesn't impress me I know I will get that delicious ice cream at the end of my meal, it is the only reason Tex Mex received 2 stars in my book instead of 1, but its not an ice cream place so unfortunately the ice cream cannot keep this place afloat in my books.

This place is THE local hangout!! Great food, nice atmosphere and even better (looking ) bartenders!! This place is cool...not too full not too empty. Just the right amount of people to have fun. Their food is decent and they have cool things like trivia, karaoke and Rock Band night. But there is a good scene and you can smoke downstairs (plus for you smokers!)Luckily, I didn't go to High School here so I'm not worried about running into people I know. Overall, 5 stars for AWESOME margaritas, hot male bartenders and a nice mix of old and young!!

This was my first time trying Mexican after leaving Arizona and while the textures on my smallish burrito and enchilada looked promising, the taste was unfortunately on the bland side. Chips/salsa was passable. Service (at the bar) was somewhat rude.

Great food, we got there every month. I esp like the pulled pork and the crab appetizers are delish! Must be a nice place to work too as the waitstaff has been there a long time. They are quick and pleasant.

I LOVE Tex Mex. I'm honestly shocked by the bland food reviews as I have never had that experience. If your looking to spice up your meal, be sure to ask for their home-made 5 pepper relish. My favorite lunch item is the chicken taco salad- it's enough for two lunches. For dinner, the crab burritos are AMAZING. The margaritas are delicious and strong- it's obvious they are home-made, not with a powdery mix. The crowds vary depending on the day. I was there on a Friday early evening and felt young while I was there on a Tuesday and felt old. Being a smoker, I like that they still offer smoking. There are tables in the bar which are nice if you don't want to sit next to a stranger at the bar. I've been to Tex Mex Connection several times and will definitely be going back- on a Tiki Party night!

Whenever I came to visit my dad at work (he works at Merck), we came here for lunch. The service is amazingly fast, the food is delicious, and the prices are affordable. I really like the decor - it's very Mexican, but classily-so. The first floor is the bar, which I've never checked out, so I can't really speak for. The upstairs is the actual restaurant - there are tons of windows, and I really love the tables and chairs. The chairs have carved suns, moons, flowers, and birds on the backs. The nachos are amazing, and are covered in toppings - it's definitely enough for a meal. There's not much parking in the lot, so if it gets busy, you might have to find street parking (which can be difficult in North Wales).

Our group of 8 will not return. This is the fourth time, as a group of friends, that we have visited Tex Mex. First 3 visits were fine. This time....so not the case. Our server was rude. She asked if we were ordering dinner with only four of the eight of us at the table and when only 2 people said "yes" she walked away with a nasty look on her face. Then, the manager comes over and says "there's a two hour maximum that we can sit and drink without ordering dinner. Considering we had just sat down and the whole group wasn't there yet, we were already getting bad customer service. Wouldn't have been so bad but the nasty attitude was unnecessary. I don't enjoy going to a restaurant and being told what I have to do in order to sit at a table. Most of the group ordered dinner. The food was good. Service was not. Friendly customer service is key. Live and learn, and we have learned that rudeness makes you spend your money where you feel like they appreciate your business.

i am here at least once a week. it is the only place to get a margarita and just so happens to be my local bar, so score! i always seem to go for a drink and end up drinking my 3 margarita max limit? if you want an amazing drink and free chips and salsa, this is your place to go!

I am in love with Tex Mex's white sangria and queso dip. IN LOVE. Normally when I go out to eat, I skip the specials. Not here. I get one of their delicious and innovative specials every time. The food is surprisingly great, and I say surprisingly because as first glance the restaurant reminds me of Disney World Epcot Mexico. But I mean that in a good way, because is it a super fun atmosphere - but you wouldn't think the food is as fabulous as it is. The chips and salsa are also amazing. They put this great spice mix on the tortilla chips. Yum. They are known for kick ass margarita's as well.

When my date and I arrived we were told it was a busy night and we could only eat for one hour. I don't like being rushed. I don't care for free chips since I am on weight watchers and they are very high in points. For $11 I got two tiny little soft shell tacos and a large amount of rice and beans. The tacos had microscopic amounts of meat in them, pulled pork and steak. Overall the food was bland and did not satisfy my protein requirements. I could have paid additional money and gotten another taco or some other pick three item but it would not have helped much. Just so everyone understands my perspective I am a huge Chipoltle fanatic. I love walking out of there stuffed and satisfied for several hours. I left Tex Mex and I was still hungry.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
