Waitress was using a strange strategy of keeping everyone on their toes during service. No one was sure if she would come back to the table ever. Then they masterminded a plan to rip everyone in our party off by telling us the credit card machine was out of service after we had just ate a $200 meal. This is important information for patrons as they enter a restaurant , not when they are trying to leave. We each had to use their atm which charges a $2.50 fee plus charges from our banks- ended up being about $15 in charges for us. Then the waitress swindled us out of an extra $20 and then played dumb when confronted about it - she said the owner (was in on her scheme and) had counted the same amt of money. While our dispute was going on other people were paying with credit cards and leaving around us. Paying the bill here was like a surrealist nightmare. Very $hi-Ty service but good food - not good enough to make up for the service.

Went for my mother-in-laws birthday. Everything was ok but nothing really popped. Had a house special - Fettucine ala Andy. Maybe Andy was not working that night but nothing to catch your flavor buds as a special of the house. Crackers and breadsticks vs a real nice Italian bread was disappointing. Salad was most likely bagged with a couple of cherry tomatoes. Italian dressing with crumbly blue cheese was very good. All in all, ok but better choices locally.

I went here with two friends to celebrate a birthday because the birthday girl gets to choose the restaurant. My other friend and I will never go back to this place again. The restaurant has an old moldy smell. All the tables are too close together. Our waitress ignored us for the most part and did not get our order right. My chicken was dry and the gnocchi we ordered to share wasn't prepared as described on the menu. I also haven't decided whether serving a basket of crackers instead of bread is an acceptable substitute. I have had waaaay better Italian dinners and this place is off the beaten path, so I don't know why people would visit here repeatedly.

Excellent food and service. Sometimes on weekends when they are busy this is not true but it is during weekdays when they are not busy. The food was spot on gr8. Love the salmon, lasagne , veal marsala and spamoni.

Good old school Italian dining. Its menu is great and the food is well prepared. The dining area is a little pizza-parlor-ish, but like I said it has that old school Italian restaurant feel. Worth the trip.

Andy Perugino's is an old-school, authentic Italian restaurant that's perfect for dinner or drinks. While the Olive Gardens of the world may draw large crowds and packed parking lots on Saturday nights, real foodies know where their bread is buttered. I've been eating at Andy Perugino's for twenty years now and I consider it time very well spent.

Great food and I would eat here every day if I could. Old school Italian restaurant that is simply wonderful. The lunch entrees are under $10 and I had 8 oz. Ribeye open face and my lunch oartner had fish. All great with asparagus with garlic and out if thus world skin on fries. I eat at 30+ restaurants a month and only one ir two ever get a revisit and this is one. Can't wait till I go back tomorrow for a relaxing meal. Only slight negative is server is slow on drink refills - so relax and enjoy some meals deserve enjoying and savor that time to talk.

My bosses been telling me about this place for over a year he said he never had a bad meal there it was always wonderful. Will last week I was fortunate to go with him for lunch there it was beautiful. It reminded me of dinner at my grandmothers house in Brooklyn when I was a boy. This is truly one of the areas best gems. I highly recommend this place the decor is not very modern it has more of an old world charm to it. Amazing food big thumbs up.

Perugino's is an old school Italian institution. It hasn't change much since I've been alive, and I hope it never does. I recommend going with the chicken ala Andy. The house dressing on the salad is excellent too.

Great food always. Have been here many times and it never disappoints. Old time wilkes barre. Definitely worth a visit.

Very disappointed. I thought the yelp reviews were good so we gave it a shot. We were intrigued by the old school reviews and were looking for that old Italian mafioso experience. What we got was grandma's basement. Complete with tacky Halloween cutouts. I got the broiled seafood platter. It was pricey and overcooked. Think crunchy. Makes husband got the chicken parm. It was ok, but again overcooked. Don't get me started on the salad bar style breadstick basket and saltines assortment. Or the bagged salad with the preservative flavor. There are many Italian bakeries nearby, don't understand why they can't serve homemade italian bread. The best part of this dining experience was the super sweet waitress.

A family-style restaurant and NEPA staple. I finally visited this place over the weekend and my experience was pleasant. I was told be a family member that I was not to expect a fine dining experience, and she was correct - my server didn't know how to pour a bottle of wine, for example. Still, the prices were reasonable, the food plentiful and mostly delicious. I had the tomato sauce and ravioli for my main meal - the sauce was a little sweet for me, but overall it was pretty good. The portion was generous. The cappelletti soup left something to be desired - I was hoping for something along the lines of Marianacci's in West Wyoming (there's is AMAZING), and though the broth was pretty good, some of the cappelletties were extremely mushy and very overcooked. It would also have been better if we had bread instead of bread sticks and crackers... Still, I think I'll be back. As a date location, I really enjoyed it - comforting food, a cheap bottle of pretty tasty wine, and the server let us be for the most part.

I have been coming to Andy's with my family since I was a little kid and still go everytime I am in town today. It started with going on Saturday afternoon with my grandparents to sit in the "jungle room" booth right by the entrance - a side of spaghetti and meatballs, a shirley temple from the bar, and great service from all the waitresses who we knew by name and it was a great day! Today, they have remodeled quite a bit, but the menu and quality of the service is still great. They have a great bar to get a cocktail before dinner and a menu full of classic italian favorites to fill you up. My personal favorites are the stuffed mushroom appetizer, the chicken parmagiana entree (classicallly prepared, lots of cheese, tasty marinara sauce) and a sandwich they call the Little Theatre (an amazing invention that is basically a homemade meatball sandwich on some italian cheesy garlic bread). The rest of my family swears by the Crab Naomi and the Prime Rib special. Andy's is truly one of a kind - an institution in Luzerne that represents the kind of great history of this area. I really hope that other people will take their families there to establish the kind of wonderful tradition that my family has in coming to this restaurant for over 30 years.

While the old school Italian supper club atmosphere may not appeal to some, I find it completely charming. The flat color palette and dim lighting make me feel like I'm dining inside a low-budget early 80s film, on VHS. I find comfort in the soft focus of it all. I've been here three times in my adult life. The first, I had veal that was quite delicious and invalidated the assumption that it would be barely memorable standard Italian fare. The second time I had a special vegetable and cheese ravioli in a mascarpone cream sauce. It sounded delightful, but left me wanting. It was a skimpy portion of five raviolis in a dish that was far too large for five raviolis. Furthermore, it seemed that way too much starchy water ended up in the sauce during plating and it was all quite slippery. They were very busy on this particular night. This factor hurt the waiting service to boot. Tonight, I returned. It was wise and felt like destiny when one of the specials was rack of lamb, my favorite dish. My rack was cooked beautifully rare, as requested. It was arranged over tender and toasty roasted potatoes and seasoned simply, but effectively so as to not overpower the apricot mint chutney atop it all. It was incredible and extremely satisfying. I went crazy and had Tiramisu, which was another smart move. Light as a feather, yet it held together, as a tiramisu should do. All three times I had a gin gimlet and all three times they were perfect, which I knew before even taking a sip. This is rare. If bartenders even know what a gimlet is, I still get a neon green mess, not the desired subtly warm, greenish golden glow. Tonight's dinner was so good that I'm going four stars. This is because I know the potential. That empty fifth star is representative of the unfortunate opposite potential.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
