Wifey and I went here on date night. Not much to add to the last review. If I was simply reviewing Angelo's for the local atmosphere, I would give it a 5 star as I always see an old friend or coworker when I go there. But I have to keep it at 4 as I am comparing it to other places I have been to outside of Mifflin County. I will say the atmosphere was great. Nice and romantic. We got there before 4 so there really wasn't a large crowd. The service was great. Food was delivered quickly. The sticks were on par. The house dressing on the toss salad was great as usual. The spaghetti seemed a little dry like it was over or undercooked just a little bit. But the sauce made up for it. The chicken was tender and juicy in spots and a little tough in others. But not so that it ruined the meal. A big minus has always been their lack of draft beers. But they have a plus in that they now serve the local Captain Jack beer. I recommend trying it as I hear great things. Good date night. Great atmosphere. Saw some good friends. I still love this place. I always grade it based on other Italian spots I have been to around the country. Four stars is good for Angelo's. Honestly, I started with a 3 like my last review but this experience is always a 3.5 so I rounded up this time.

The house salad dressing is excellent, it makes the basic salad of iceberg lettuce, onions & few tomato chunks way better than it is. Breadsticks are excellent; toasty, buttery, garlic goodness. Go great with anything on the menu & worth ordering extras. Must have. Menu was ok. Service was quick & friendly, something truly unusual for the area. Sauce is sweet, somewhat bland and liberally applied. Surprised there seemed to be a lack of seating for larger parties. The 5th wheel sits on the end of booth with added extension.

Finally got here, ordered a salad with house italian and a baked sub (on facebook this seemed to be the specialty). Dressing was very good as advertised. The baked sub was interesting....italian lunch meat with tomato sause and cheese baked on a sub roll, sort of like if a stromboli married a sub without veggies. It wasn't bad, but wasn't incredible. Ordered a pina colada that was not too great (chunks of ice in it). But anyplace that gives you free cinamon sugar donughts with your bill is ok with me!

The only things I like here are the big salads and breadsticks but they're awesome! Angelo's is a Mifflin County landmark. The service is good, the atmosphere so-so, and the rest of the "Italian" menu blech. I particularly suggest avoiding the veal.

Six of us recently went to Angelo's for dinner and it was awesome. We were in Lewistown at the State Fire Academy for training and were told to eat there. Dinner was great, I had the chicken parm which was very good and inexpensive. The homemade salad dressing was to die for as well. I suggest ordering bread sticks to go along with your meal as well. The service was good and the atmosphere isn't all that bad either. They have a full bar that is separate from the dining area. They also have an area that will accommodate a larger party or function. Take the time to check out the memorial at the end of the parking lot as well.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
