Awful experience! The steak was charred and tasted like the grill had not been cleaned for a month. I decided to check this place out because my wife and I saw the Steve's from Philly profiled on TV. Maybe the Philly one is better, but this one left such a bad taste in my mouth, I could not even eat the sandwhich. My wife and I stopped at a local Pizza place and had a much better Steak and Cheese becuse we were unsatisfied at Steve's in Langhorne. I will not be going back.

As good as it gets. Meat is high quality. Bread is fresh. Lots of extras. Not that cheap though but worth the money. Highly recommended. For you who are not familiar: this is a fast food place, not a "real" restaurant. You stop by, grab a sandwitch and move on. Many people take out but there are also counters you can use to eat it and the place is always clearn.

Great steaks! I get a hoagie (with lettuce/tomato/onion/mayo) steak to go, don't need the fries since the steak alone fills me up just fine. About $8, cash only, make sure you grab a huge handful of napkins! Real meat and on a soft roll!

Very disappointed! I have been to all of Steve's and they were one of my go-to spots. The last few time they have been HORRIBLE!!! The meat was very hard to chew, tasted like low quality beef!! Sorry Prince, you have lost one of your LOYAL customers!! Your employees truly have a I don't give a crap attitude, and the open condiments(pickles, peppers, etc) was really scary looking and I was surprised no one has called BC Dept. of Health on that!!

Steve's is in my top3 cheese steak places of all time. This is not a sandwich for the high class foo foo people. Its greasy and sloppy and all good. It is a must have for any out of towners to see what a cheese steak is about. It's almost as good as Jim's but way better then Tony Lukes or the other typical spots.

I was in the area for a business trip and wanted to get my hands on an authentic steak. Since I'm not from around here though, I could only take recommendations, and yelp had some strong ones. I decided that rather than driving in to the city to wait in line at the tourist traps, I'd try this instead. Boy am I glad I did. If this is what the locals call authentic, I'm hooked! If I ever get back to the area, you can bet I'll be driving here instead of the city. Delicious food, no wait, and very much of a "real deal" experience!

I ended up going back the very next day....Unresistable.. They packed more meat today too, Today was a GOOD day...cant wait to go back again!

Not the worst steak I ever had, and not the best, but it was good enough to fill me up when hungry. A little on the pricey side, but what isnt expensive these days?

Steve's has made a loyal subject out of me. The portions are huge and the food is so tasty! All the delicious Philly cheesesteak taste without having to leave the suburbs. Seating is not the most comfortable, just a counter running along the restaurant, but it's worth it for the delicious cheesesteak. I'll definitely be stopping by here for a wiz wit and a chocolate soda next time I'm in Langhorne.

Best option for cheesesteaks in the burbs. Go double meat, always.

  • Chris K.

The 2 steaks I got from here were out of this world, the meat was so delicious, the bread was fresh and flavorful, I personally preferred the American cheesesteak, but as stated both we amazing. The fries was very tasty. When I come back to Philly I will visit again! Thanks again Yelp for a great find

  • Amanda D.

I really liked my cheesesteak from Steve's. The bread, the extras, the sauciness of the cheese - awesome! The only downfall for me is that I personally prefer chopped steak over sliced. The sliced steak made the sandwich a bit chewy to me. I'll definitely be going back for more though!

When not in the city, and in the suburbs where my parents live, this place cannot be topped. One of my top two choices for cheesesteaks in all of Philly. A great addition when this location opened on Route 1. This place is great both before and after a night out. Food is made to order, and is always hot and delicious. The cheese fries (American cheese) are awesome, best I have had. The steak is free of gristle, and again, would pay for a cheesesteak here before I accepted a free one from Pat's or Geno's. If you're by a Steve's Prince of Steaks, I highly recommend stopping in and ordering, you will not be sorry.

Always one of the best steaks in the city. And some of the best pickles anywhere. Also the American is the best so much better then wiz in my opinion.

Wit 5 STAR service and food. Real food wit real service. Cheesesteaks are as good as they get. The service is straight forward and professional.

Forget Pat's. Forget Geno's. Steve's has the best cheese-steaks in the city or state, hands down. I think that's all that needs to be said.

  • Rocky K.

Always liked, rather loved the cheese fries here but today was more like rocks covered in cheese the employee rather then frying up a new batch of fries decided to double fry a batch of fries that where already sitting there and ruined my cheese fry day And sadly I only enjoy cheese fries at Steve's Hopefully I will give them another chance Only fate will decide

I have been to this Steve's location and the one in NE Philly. Yesterday, I ate at the Langhorne Steve's. The Steak was ok however, I was a little taken back when my husband and I opened both containers of cheese fries. His was steaming, loaded with fresh cheese whiz. Mine were less than room temperature and the very little amount of cheese was dry and dark. Two very different cheese fries. I told the worker at the fry counter that my fries were cold and they didn't have lots of fresh cheese and he didn't say anything. He walked away and came back with a small container of cheese whiz. Right before I walked away from the counter, he said $1.75. WOW! They didn't offer me new, fresh fries, they wanted me to add new hot cheese onto the crappy cold fries - and then they had nerve to charge me for it!! BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE... After a couple of bites fries I tossed the entire thing in the trash. I woke up at 6 a.m. (12 hours after consuming nasty fries) vomiting ... it was the fries!! I felt better after ridding my system of this nasty food and will never visit this location again. I am even hesitant to ever go back to Steve's in the NE - the food and service is way better but now I'm petrified to eat at any Steve's Steaks locations. I hope they read this review and pay more attention to the food they are serving to people and address complaints properly.

Ouch! Can I stand upright now please? I paid 16 bucks!!! For a cheesesteak, fries, and soda??? I'll give 2 stars instead of one because quality was decent. Not the best but certainly the most expensive I have had. Stopped there for lunch recently in langhorne location. So I'm at the first window ordering my cheesesteak. When I pay 10 and change, I ask about fries and drinks. "Oh you pay for those at the next window". My jaw nearly hit the floor. 10 bucks is plenty. It covers the whole meal at diners, Wit or Witout, and several other places. But not here. No no no. Here they bang you 3.50 for fries and almost 2 bucks for soda. So I'll type my disbelief again...16 bucks! ! And wobbly tables that dump my ketchup cup all over when I go to sit on the stool. Now I will give credit for the food. It was a decent cheesesteak. Not fantastic, not amazing, not worth 16 bucks for sure. Sorry fellas, you charge too much. Won't be returning anytime soon unless a sudden unexpected inheritance comes my way.

Great Italian Hoagies best in the area too. They get a loyal following for their hoagies and philly steak sandwiches. I notice they put cheese whiz on their philly cheese steaks (yuck). I'm not sure they have real cheese.

Grew up in the Northeast walking to Steve's. The prices have obviously gone up. I ordered a cheese steak bogie with Whiz. There was overloads of whiz, drowned tomato, no onions or lettuce. All this for $12.00, I saw that on my credit card statement and am still hoping I was over charged. I like the Tony Luke portions and serving style way better. Went to the second line and ordered small cheese fries for $4.71. By the time I got home the fries where gross, stuck to plastic, and trashed. This was not reminiscing I had hoped to experience. I know it's not an old classic but I am thinking that Wit or Without had better pricing, food, and options. I even got to pick if I wanted my meat chopped or in slices. I might have officially crossed over after is visit.

The ABSOLUTE BEST in Bucks. My husband likes regular cheesesteaks, I like chicken cheesesteaks, and we have never had one at Steve's that wasn't amazing. Previously I would have deducted one star for the inconvenience of being cash only in this day and age. We never have cash so it's just an extra step to have to go to an ATM, then pick up Steve's... but they recently started taking credit/debit so we are thrilled. They have excellent french fries, we always ask for them well done. Steve's is where it's at!

  • Nathan B.

The food was okay but my primary complaint is service. I bought take out for the whole family so the bill was $73, which was steep compared to other similar places in the area. I asked the guy for paper plates and he gave me one plate. I asked for more plates considering I was picking up 5 cheesesteaks, a cheeseburger, a hot dog, two orders of mozz sticks and two orders of fries. The guy actually told me No. Really? I spend $73 and you're nickle and diming me on paper plates? There are too many good cheesesteak joints in this area for me to go back to this one. In addition to their refusal to supply me with ample paperware, the staff just generally had a bad attitude and looked miserable to be there.

I'm not sure why but I never knew there was a Steve's in Langhorne. This location is right on Lincoln Highway right near the car dealerships. There is plenty of parking out front and the interior is the typical stainless steel.

  • Paul Z.

Rip off....ten small pieces of thinly sliced steak for ten bucks? I was not happy...I got $3 sub for $10...don't waste your time... I am never going back... The place was clean but when that's your best quality you have got problems..m Oh. The bread was good..it was the predominate part of the sandwich so I guess that's a good thing.lol Steve called me after I called to complain...he thanked me for complaining and offered to make it right... I appreciate his offer..I may go to another location to see if this was a fluke..stay tuned....

A philly native who's tried them all. Look no further. If you're looking for a true, good tasting, great experience cheesesteak, Steve's prince of steaks is the only way to go. Remember CASH ONLY

Why didn't we try this place all this while despite having passed it a couple of hundred times on Lincoln Hwy? Steve's makes a seriously good cheese steak that it could easily be called "King of Steaks". We got caramelized onions on both our orders. I went with Provolone and I convinced my wife to get the cheese wiz. The hot sauce and the array of peppers in the self serve bar are the perfect condiments to go on this meaty creation. We also got the hot and spicy fries which were pretty crisp and had a seasoning akin to a spicier old bay. The combo hit our grease spot dead center. The cheese wiz proved a bit too heavy for my wife but she demolished the entire sandwich nevertheless. She said that she'd definitely go with regular cheese the next time we are here.

    (5)
  • Nancy M.

Blech! Cheesesteaks were bland and dry and tough. Roll was fresh, but that's about the only thing that was fresh on the sandwich. Fries were good, nice and crisp and well seasoned--that's what earns the one star.

    (3) ~ A-OK...but my Fav is still Jim's;) MY MENU: * Chocolate Soda = (3.5) good * Double Meat Cheese Steak with Onions ~ (3) just ok...got it with Provolone & Whiz... NOTES: They NOW take Credit Cards. Get the Double Meat to equate to a normal Philly Cheese Steak. And you order the Cheese Steak at the first window & the Sides & Drinks at the second window;)

This place was awesome we are from California and were craving cheese steaks. It's was a great idea to come here. I loved that they had a condiment station where you could fill up on everything from pickles to spicy peppers and hot sauce.

I think it should have two $$ when it comes to cheese steaks but with that being said it really is a great cheese steak. My favorite "go to" steak place. For the life of me I cannot choose a cheese I like the best. Wiz = traditional "Philly" cheese; American = thier take on an american cheese sauce or Provolone = cheese greatness. thank you for the whole pickled cherry peppers, I feel like I'm home in South Philly

I just had one of the best cheesesteaks of my life! Steve's Prince of Steaks has a shop on Route 1 in Langhorne, and although not far from my home, I had never been there, always preferring my local pizza shop for my grease fix. Friday night, while I waited to pick up my son at a Magic tournament at OVM, I had some hunger and time to kill. Steve's came to mind. I arrived about 30 minutes before closing. There were only a few customers, and the staff was beginning to clean up. I read the ordering directions a safe distance from the window, decided what I wanted and walked up to the young guy in the Steve T shirt and ballcap. The Cheesesteak wit Onions, Provolone and Roasted Peppers came out on the thin sheet of Steve paper. When I attempted to pick it up with one hand I felt the heft of the sandwich and quickly put my other hand underneath to keep it from sliding off onto the floor. It was that heavy. It was a work of art. The peppers, onion and cheese glistened under the lights. A small pool of oil began to collect once I placed it on the small stainless steel counter than runs around the shop. I went back to the fixin's bar to get some Banana Peppers to add more heat. I sat down on the bar stool and looked at this creation. I took a photo to commemorate the moment. I really thought there was no way I could eat the whole thing. Then I took the first bite... Heaven. I'm in Heaven...Yes, the song danced in my head. The roll was lightly crusted and extremely fresh. Great taste in its own right. The blending of the ingredients on chewing was an intense explosive release of flavors, textures, spice and heat. I lost all control. I couldn't hold back. I had an orgasm in my mouth before the second bite. The sweetness of the onions soothed the heat from the peppers, but did not overcome them. The provolone provided a subtle undertone that played well with the roll and sliced beef. My eyes rolled into the back of my head and when they returned, the sandwich was completely ingested. The only thing I can say is, when can I go back for another? Suggestions: 1. Cash only. There is an ATM inside the shop, but why pay the extra charge? 2. To keep cost down, go with the Cheesesteak with American or Wiz, as the other cheeses are extra. 3. Try the pepper fixin's bar before ordering extra peppers at the window. There are plenty of choices there, and it is another buck or so to have them cooked with the steak. 4. The fries are very good. If you care at all about your heart, try them straight, w/o the extra cheese. It looks great all melted over the fries, but when it cools it is just a coagulated yellow mess. That is how your heart sees it. 5. Don't wait another day to have one.

If you're looking for a great cheesesteak, but don't want to drive into the city to go to Pat's, this is the place to go. Best cheesesteak outside of the city. Prices are a bit high for Levittown, but it is worth it. Fries are great too (hate to say it, but their fries are better than Pat's!)

First time having a Philly cheesesteak with wiz cheese close to Philadelphia. Ordered a cheesesteak with onions, mushrooms and wiz. The bread was awesome, and the combination of steak, caramelized onions, mushrooms and wiz cheese was very flavorful and almost had me order a second one on the way out. Fortunately, I didn't and left happy with what I had. Can't compare to anyone else's in the Philly area because it's the only one I've had, so it's the best thus far. I've been resistant to the idea of cheese wiz on a sandwich, but found it was pleasantly tasty and if I was in the area again, I would go back. Good fries as well.

Rare visits to Philadelphia amplify my craving for the local favorite, the Philly cheesesteak. During my last visit, roughly 7 years ago, I visited the famous and celebrated Geno's and Pat's King of Steaks in south neighborhood of Philadelphia. Since my hotel was located in the northeast suburb an hour from the city, I was unable to revisit neither one of them. It turns out, that was not necessarily a bad thing. Talking to a few locals, they assured me that those two places are nothing more than a celebrity and tourist traps, and going to Jim's or Steve's Prince of Steaks would more than satisfy my craving. Again, with luck on my side and Yelp aiding in the rescue search, I was surprised to see that Steve's was just over mile from my hotel. Perusing the photos on Yelp, the cheesesteak appeared gigantic. So to enjoy each last bite, I strategized the next day and skipped all my meals. The moment came, my hunger was on the brink of starvation, and the couple of beers consumed at the work social took the edge off, but quickly turned into munches. Upon arrival I realized this place was cash only with an ATM machine inside. Finally, I ordered the cheesesteak with American white cheese instead of the whiz (recommendation by locals). The cheesesteak was amazing in all aspects, the bread, meat, cheese and grilled onions. I don't recall the taste of Gino's, so I don't dare to compare. Nonetheless, the name speaks for itself, and could even be renamed to Steve's King of Steaks. The bread roll had a light crunch with a delicate interior, which gracefully collapsed into a well balanced amount of bread with each bite. The steak, a perfect lean cut, was chopped to perfect sized slices, and grilled to perfection. The onions added light sweetness, and the silky white cheese closed the deal. I also added some banana peppers, to give it a slight kick, as a personal preference. Their bread is freshly baked daily and the meat is carved without sacrifice in quality. The interior looks as if a mobile truck pulled up to a three walled building, with its stainless steel walls and neon 'steaks' sign. It's more of a take out place, as the seating is limited to the perimeter bar stools along the windows. For the record, this place has received many accolades from multiple newspapers and has many locations including the original in Philadelphia, so I would take this place seriously. The staff was polite and made the process painless and without drama like Geno's or Pat's cheesesteak nazis. If Yelp had a 'Super Fan' six star rating, this would definitely earn it from me. All I need to do now is find an excuse to travel back for work, so I can have my prince of cheesesteaks.

Was pretty good but I wouldn't say that it was the best cheese steak that I had. Avg price is 9 bucks a sandwich

I got steak with wiz and onions. It was OK, but didn't blow me away. I thought the steak was either cut too thick or over cooked...it felt a little more tough than other steaks I've had. The fries were pretty good, though, and the service was friendly and fast. I'll need to give it another chance.

I'm pretty sure that if i was from philly, this would be one of the places i'd go to get a cheesesteak. i've had pats and genos a few times, and the experience here was just more for me- not having to wait outside is a huge plug. the cheesesteak was great from what i remember of it.

In my opinion, the one of the best cheesesteaks in Philly. They do it right at all locations. You won't be disappointed. Prov & Onions the only way to go.

Good cheesesteaks, first time eating this kind and absolutely love it!!!! Customer service needs improvement and don't assume that we know how to order in Philly.

Great food for after the bars have close and you are not in the mood to sit down and eat. Prices are expensive considering what you are getting. Staff seems to be in such a rushed on multiple occasion orders have come out completely wrong or close enough to completely wrong.

Delicious, fresh, and quick! To be clear, I am not a native, nor an expert on all things cheesesteak, so take this review with that up-front disclaimer. However, with that out there, I was delighted with my lunch when my wife and I went to Steve's. We both had a steak sandwich with grilled onions and American cheese - and they were delicious! PROS: Steve's is as quick as can be expected given the fact that your sandwich isn't started until you order it. There is no "pre-grilled" meat or veggies. You order, and the mean and onions go on the flattop. Same goes for their fries. This isn't fast food, but we had our order within maybe five minutes - and it is well worth the wait. The food is simple and delicious; no fancy sauces or toppings (although there are a ton of choices in their topping bar), just good steak sliced thin and grilled to tender perfection, topped with melted cheese and grilled onions. CONS: There isn't a ton of room to sit, and we were there after the lunch rush. I could see this place getting really crowded, really fast. OVERALL: We will be back. Not fine dining, but when you just want a delicious cheesesteak, a great place to start.

This was my first visit to what appears to be the second Steve's, found quite by chance when I pulled up Yelp! at a stoplight on Route 1 a few miles north of Philadelphia. This Steve's is located in a small strip mall along a highway full of them (and car dealers and other suburban landmarks). You don't feel like you're in an old ethnic Philly neigborhood, but rather somewhere on the Post Road between Maine and Florida. Which, of course, you almost are. As with the other Steve's, I got a perfectly cooked provolone single-meat cheesesteak with meat, cheese, and bread in perfect proportion. The giant jars of peppers and condiments are here, as is the chocolate soda--crisper and more refreshing than a milkshake, but without tasting like a mass produced soft drink. I laid in a layer of banana peppers, picked a spot at the stainless steel dining counter and proceeded to embarrass myself with enough muffled "Mmm!"s to attract the attention of the couple seated two seats down--and dining alone, I couldn't act as if I was addressing my commentary to anyone. The American cheese fries are perfectly cooked, hot, straight cut fries covered in white American cheese that is transformed by the out-of-the-fryer temperatures into a smooth liquid coating. Delicious, if my industrial process description didn't quite convey that.

I recommend a steak sandwich with roasted peppers and fried onions. Their bread isn't crusty enough to stand up to cheese and the veg. Meat is not chopped which is to my liking, not my husbands. Fries are very good and unsalted. I get them well done. Bring cash and a bit more for the roasted peppers. Would not eat at the counter there. Tacky and low brows their fresh food. Route 1 is too ugly to look at anyway.

I moved from California and I've never never had any cheese steak like that before I don't have any feelings are some California the food was wonderful service was good I wish there was more sitting area to sit down and eat I wish was little bit more like restaurant and not walking fast food what type of thing otherwise does the cheese steak was absolutely scrumptious not only that my parents came in from LA and I took them there and they were in love with the with cheese steak sandwiches...

Holy Moley . . . . Now that is how you do a cheese steak! The sandwich was big and I kept it simple, American cheese and onions only please. When I unwrapped my sandwich the amazing smell hit me instantly and then I think I blacked out, because what couldn't have been more than 5 minutes later it was all gone. All of it!!!! I remember clutching the last small piece which was by far the best part because it was full of juicy cheesy goodness. Not grease like other places I've been to. It was awesome. And to top it all off, I received some of the best customer service I've received in a LONG time. The 3 guys behind the counter were so patient and helpful (realizing it was my first time). They explained the pepper bar and let me have as many of those awesome thin sliced pickles as I wanted. Because I didn't know they were cash only, I was digging through my pockets trying to find exactly what I needed. And they waited for me, never making me feel rushed. They even offered to spot me the 32 cents I was missing, but I found it in my jacket pocket. Jackpot! Overall, great experience and I will definitely be back.

Food was pretty good. Service, not so much. Ordering is done and paid for in two separate windows; one for sandwiches and one for fries/drinks. That means two different lines to wait in, pay in, and wait for food to be done. The calling of orders is completely unorganized when the place is busy. They do not take names when ordering, so they have no clue who the food is for when it is done. Whoever is most aggressive, will jump in line to get their food first. Just poor business practice in my opinion. They also forgot about part of my order, so my kids had to wait another 15 minutes for their food. Anyone with kids can understand how that goes. The food was pretty good, though. Good bread, fries, and authentic Philly cheese steak taste. I might go again, but defiantly not when it is busy.

great steaks.. 1/4" sliced ribeye cooked and laid out nicely on a very tasty roll. Not only are they tasty, they are HUGE. So you kind of do get what you pay for. You can top it however you like, but there are nominal charges for items. Fries are plentiful and tasty. The only downside to this location is the ordering. It is a bit confusing to order your steak at one window, fries and drink etc at another. And have to pay two separate times, once at each window. Place is typically industrial with enough seating. At times it seems they aren't up to speed on wiping down the metal eating surfaces, but they do provide trays. All in all, you should try it once!

I don't know what these other reviewers were eating at , but I was very disappointed. The hoagie was ordered with mayo , vinegar and oil .. It was dry as a bone . The cheesteak , no mushrooms as ordered a dab of provolone and hardly any pizza sauce . I have had better steaks everywhere else just pick one . Jim's is better , just make the drive . Not going back .

The food was not good at all over priced make you pay cash and the bread tasted like a week old never coming back here

The steak was barely warm and the guys making it were more interested in socializing than making good food. It probably would have been loads better if it was freshly made.

Nice size cheesesteaks and cheese fries are plentiful. Both will fill you up. Unfortunately for the cheesesteak, the meat is very bland. I thought I might of had a bad experience my 1st time so I went again the following week. The meat still was bland. You can get a tastier cheesesteak from a pizza place.

Eh, they're just okay. Food is fairly good but overpriced. Staff is without etiquette quite like the dining area.

    (2)

The cheese fries are perfect. Perfectly crispy and perfectly coated with cheese! The sandwich was really good but what enhanced everything was their hot sauce that I mixed with the ketchup and their chilies!

Typical dive food and service sucks at 1230 in the afternoon one person ahead of me took 15 minutes to get steak and another 15 for fries and a drink. At least six guys behind counter. It was like going to McDonald's were the help takes one order at a time. If want a real cheesesteak you will have trouble closing the roll because its packed with meat go to A&S at edgely and 13 .

Really good cheesesteak. tried it without onions and with American cheese to see how well the basics were done. YUMMY! Soft roll, great steak done right! They got it SPOT ON! I've found my new Cheesesteak Fix location!

Weird set up with order sandwich from one counter and fries/drinks from another, but can't argue with the results. Great fries

My girlfrends family is from Philly so all the hype I have heard reharding cheesesteaks and hoagies has been second to none. We spent 6 days near Philly. I had the pleasure of having Steve's 4 of those 6 days. This place is awesome! I managed to try a couple of the other "famous" places but Steve's won, especially considering there wasn't a huge line any time we went. The food was consistent and the prices were good. The portions of meat allow you to have the sandwich for dinner and have a snack later. Obviously I would eat here over and over! The amount of steak and onions you receive make this place seem like you

My coworkers and I wanted to get our Philly cheese steaks but wanted to avoid the over hyped tourist traps *cough Geno's* *cough Pat's* and wanted a legit steak. One of the gals looked up Steve's and noticed that there was a location within 2 miles of our hotel. Sure, we would not be experiencing the quintessential Philly experience of eating at a historical establishment but we just wanted good, quality steaks. I already knew what I wanted before going in - Steak wid onions and wiz! I was a bit concerned that the "chef" looked no older than 18 but was willing to give him a try. I was glad I did since the steak was dee-licious! The bread was soft and chewy with a hint of crispness on the outside and the steaks were nicely cooked. I don't like the minced up cheese steak version so I loved seeing solid pieces of steak. We also ordered fries which came out piping hot. My only gripe is that I wish there was a little less wiz since the saltiness was kind of overwhelming. Next time - steak wid onions and light on the wiz! ;)

Liquid cheese - amazing taste! Always enjoy a steve's. Wish the bread wasn't as chewy, but the taste is great!

Mmm nothing is quite like a steve's steak. First visit to this location, and i will be back soon.

In Philly for business for the first time, and needed some local grub. Luckily this place was just a mile from my hotel. Cheesesteak was great, wish I would have gotten white American rather than provolone on it. The provolone was still good, but I didn't get that amazing melty-gooey center of the sandwich that I am looking for in a steak. Bread was on point, sautéed mushrooms and onions were perfect, not stringy or overpowering. The spicy fries were great, the portion of fries was huge. Tip: Share the fries with one or two people, the amount they give you is way too much for one person.

Absolutely horrible. Not one positive point to make. The highlight was when Jack White took time out from slinging fries to play seven nation army.

  • Justin B.

Just about as good as your classic Philly cheesesteak. Not much difference at all except for a little bit more options when ordering. And they don't scowl at you if you order provolone! Haha.

We dropped by, to try a cheese steak for the second time in my life. The first ended up with my body rejecting the greasy mess, and I swore never to repeat the experience. Years pass. My young niece and nephew love cheese steaks. I hold out. Finally, they break me down. We find the place, and enter. Why is it that cheese steak places need to make the ordering process complicated? No idea. Don't ask me. It's part of the charm I guess. We select the right order window, order our steaks, drop a tip in the jar, pop over to the other window, and order our fries and drinks, and drop another tip. Then, we wait... and wait. I thought tipping would accelerate things. I'm here to tell you, no. Inside, there is really no place to sit. Good thing we got ours to go. We finally got our food, popped over to a nearby spot for a picnic, and began to eat. The hot and spicy fries were quite good. The steak was dry and boring and nearly indigestible. I had vowed never to do this again. Yet, I did. Never again. This whole cheese steak thing baffles me. What is so awesome about it? Never again. Really. Forever.

And so it was, on the sixth day, that the Lord desireth a cheesesteak. "But Lo," he cried, "traffic on 95 is deplorable, and the Boulevard maketh me sob." And then the clouds parted, and the sun appeared, and the Lord realizeth, "I am the Lord! I need not venture to the Great Northeast to partake of the cheesesteak." And he parted the waters and raised the firmament and built a Steve's on Business Route 1 in Langhorne. And it was good.

I don't want to throw my cheesesteak resume out there, so I won't. If you want to try a cheesesteak like a Pats, Genos, Jim's then skip them and go directly to Steve's. It's a meatier steak with a generous portion of cheese and you gotta order the fries as they are the crispiest and tastiest fries I've had. If you want to do the tourist thing then do it but you gotta do Steve's!!!

Steve's was my introduction to Philly Cheese Steaks, and I'm happy to say I came away impressed. The place isn't much to look at but they serve a killer sandwich. I came in a little bit after normal dinner hours, so the place wasn't too crowded. I ordered a double meat with wiz and onions (supposedly this is the Philly original...? Still learning). A few items to note: 1. I was unprepared for the monstrosity of a sandwich that I unfolded from the wrapper. Sucker was big; 2. I did not have enough napkins on hand. After clearing out one napkin dispenser I was forced to find another one to empty. They load the wiz on these things. 3. They stick to your ribs like cement. Absolutely delicious, but don't plan on doing any physical activity for a few hours until it slides on down to the bottom of your gut and you get over the 'itis.

Steve's has my favorite cheesesteak of all time. I didn't even know if I would like cheesesteaks when I moved to the Philadelphia region, but I had an "American With" from Steve's and fell in love. The sandwich is huge, and you'll eat yourself silly, but no matter the heart burn it's incredibly worth it. I also order the chocolate soda when I go [carbonated hersheys basically]. Seating can be gross, but it's all apart of the Philly cheesesteak experience in my opinion. I always take my visitors to get cheesesteaks from Steve's!

Forget driving down to South Philly for the best cheesesteak in Philly! And no need to stand outside Passyunk Ave in the cold either! Since I'm lucky enough to work five minutes away, I make sure to visit frequently. Things to remember: * Limited Seating (especially at lunch) * Order your steaks from one line, Drinks at the other * Cash Only

In the battle of cheesesteaks it is all about personal preference. This is hands down my favorite place so far... Let's compare. Steve's Prince of Steaks: My usual is an Extra Wiz, witout, pepperoni and a side of their amazing shaved pickles. -The rolls are great. -The meat is great and sliced (not chopped) and they give you a lot! -Great wiz -Toppings bar is a plus (have to try the shaved pickles.) Other favorites here are these cheese fries. Cooked when ordered and topped with wiz. If I am really wanting to go all out, another great option is the Pizza Steak with Pepperoni (clearly I love pepperoni). Why I like this over others: Jim's - Yuck! Taste like steak-ums from the freezer, filled with disgusting grease, and chopped so much it seems like the label would read Ingredients: Beef flavored Grease and Imitation Meat Geno's - Has great rolls and the sliced steak, but lacks in quantity of meat. Pat's - My second favorite, the meat is chopped and they give a lot of it, but does not compare to Steve's. Tony Luke's - Have not tried, but from what I hear it won't beat Steve's.

Tried this place for the first time, and it is very good! It was not greasy but had a lot of favor. Going back for sure, the only negative is I thought it was a bit pricy. $1.20 to add cheese.

I totally screwed up and forgot to add anything. All I had was steak, cheese wiz and onions to go. Got home, too late to add toppings. Well it was STILL amazing and five stars. I can only imagine how much better with toppings...

Born and raised in Philadelphia and ate cheesesteaks all my life. These guys make the best that I have ever had. Grab one every time I am in town to visit family and it is always a highlight of our journey. The guys that work there are always friendly and fun to talk with.

I grew up in South Jersey but somehow never knew about Steve's until I moved to NYC. I've only been twice but I'm a convert. Steve's is now my favorite. Best cheesesteaks ever, best cheese fries ever. No long lines to wait in. Pepper bar and liquid American cheese ftmfw!

Good solid cheesesteak. Nothing fancy, no kobe beef, black truffle or Gruyere cheese just a solid simple delicious cheesesteak. The fries are awesome and the pepper bar is great for those of us that like to spice things up.

Steve's is good, but not great. Less of a scene than the main stream ones, simply because it's way from the lively scene of Philly. I recommend it if you're passing by, but definitely don't go out of your way for it.

Steve's may be called the "prince," but their cheesesteaks outclass those 2 major tourist traps I'd rather not name. Steve's product consistently ranks among the best cheesesteaks by critics and locals alike. Although it started in Philly, the shop has fortunately expanded outside of city limits, which makes any cheesesteak afficionado stranded in the burbs a pretty happy camper. The rolls are traditional Philadelphia fare, a bit crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. It soaks up the meat juices and cheese nicely and carries the ingredients well. The steak is lean and has a robust, beefy flavor. Here it's sliced, not chopped, which adds another pleasing textural element to each bite. Cheeses are all good, nothing different from other spots. They do tend to overdo it though, so you might benefit from asking them to go easy with the stuff. They don't skimp on the fried onions, which is a big plus as they're sweet, juicy, and complement the beef/cheese perfectly. Fries are good, nothing particularly special but get the job done when paired with cheese. The pepper bar is phenomenal, I particularly enjoy their pickled cherry peppers and smoked, dried chilies. Without question, Steve's offers the best steak in the burbs, and quite possibly all of Philadelphia (definitely better than Pat's, Geno's, and Jim's). Try it and you'll save a trip to the city.

Steve's has always been one of the top under the radar steaks in the city of Philadelphia. They're quick and wonderful. The rolls are always fresh, and the American cheese is liquid instead of slices. I like the switch up from normal. It makes the cheese fries especially amazing. They also have great sodas. The cherry soda and their root beer are great. Find Steve's in northeast Philly if you come to Philly. They're not really "down town" so its a little out of the way if you're only in the center city, south or north Philly area.

Grew up in L-town. Would have been good if the eminem looking d-bag had got our phone order right, actually made a good steak and wasnt such a d*ck. Called in 1/2 hour before, didn't start working on it until we got there. Steak was dry. Meh, places in Philly Chinatown or Chillis in colorado make a Better steak. Wanted to knock out the poser workin behind the glass. Support your local pizzerias instead of this overrated place.

Fantastic Cheesesteaks! I really like the roll. I am a big fan of the Pizza Steak myself. The place is showing some age though and they don't take credit/debit cards - CASH only and that is why I rate it a 4. If I was rating this place purely based on food, then I go 5! It is nice to have a place like this in Langhorne.

Today is a monumental day, it is hubby's and my 29th wedding anniversary on the 29th day of July. Prince Charles and Lady Di got married 28 years ago today. Why is this etched in my mind, you ask? Because 28 years ago was my first anniversary and while my hubby was out to sea with the US Navy, I sat at home and watched their wedding, with tears rolling down my cheeks for more than one reason. On Prince Charles and Lady Di's first anniversary, I watched with glee as Prince Charles was off in another land playing polo. Some fairy tales come to fruition and some do not. Like the one about the Philadelphia cheesesteaks. "Oh you're so lucky to have Philadelphia cheesesteaks!" I wonder when this will have a happy ending. I visited another Prince today, Steve's Prince of Steaks. This one is located on a four lane highway and attached to nothing more than a Dunkin Donuts. You can dine in at one of their window lined counters with high stools or take it to go and do bring cash or be ready to use the ATM. It's my anniversary and I could have gone anywhere I wanted to, but with my Mom back in the hospital I would rather wait. What else is monumental about this day... I forced myself to have a cheesesteak wit onions ( norm ) but I said WHIZ, for the very first time! You know what, it was not bad at all, it did not taste like plastic, which is how I describe processed cheese to taste and it did compliment the meat. Maybe they make their own cheddar concoction. Let us talk about cheesesteaks for one moment, please! It has to be all about the roll and the meat, cheese we'll forget for now. This roll was much better than Geno's or Pat's, but it was not a roll to rave about. The meat, they all claim to use steak, be it sirloin or ribeye, chopped or sliced, I liked this meat much better than Geno's or Pat's chopped meat. It was much thicker, tender and no garbage. Hubby had a provolone cheesesteak hoagie with onions. I don't know if it is fair for me to answer for him, but he said he will never go back. I also ordered a shrimp roll, yes a shrimp roll at Steve's and I had my first glob of pizza fries. The shrimp roll was actually fresh and very good, but small. Zagat awarded, Best of Buck's, Philadelphia Magazine, Guinness World Book of Records awarded. This store will turn three in November. So far from "best" on down, Tony Luke's, then Steve's, Geno's and Pat's, but in all honesty my friends, I've had filet mignon sandwiches to droll over and french dips to swoon over and I know there is no comparison or is there, but I still have not found my Prince of cheesesteaks. Update: I am having the rest of hubbies cheesesteak hoagie for breakfast and I would go back, it's a good cheesesteak hoagie.

MMMM...I love me a Philly cheese steak!! I can't believe I used to pass by this place almost daily and didn't stop. I had the steak with wiz and it was pretty dang tasty! The rolls were fresh and not as hard as a door stop, like some places. The fries were decent too. My only complaint was that we got the fries with wiz to-go. By the time we got home, the wiz had solidified and made the fries stuck together and covered in a weird consistency. If you get the fries with wiz to-go, have them put the wiz on the side. Don't forget to take cash too, as they dont accept credit/debit cards, but they do have an ATM on site.

I prefer this Steve's location to the other, I feel like the food is always made to order at this location. What can be said about Steve's that hasn't been said already? Great greasy cheesy steaks and fresh fries. Love the pepper bar, I haven't had a bad experience yet. Keep 'em coming Steve!

As good as it gets. Pat's and Geno's are for chumps and tourists. The steaks here are made for those of us who have outgrown cafeteria-grade food. The meat is prime, sliced (not like the mystery chunks they serve at Pat's or the gristle stuff over at Genos') and perfectly seasoned. The onions are at the just-caramelized phase, imparting sweetness to the venture. But what puts Steve's over the top is the bread -- how this creation manages to at once be soft and yielding but also contain the oozing cheese and the meat juice without getting soggy is a mystery. A delicious one. Go get yourself a whiz (creamy, savory) or american (a bit of bite), wit'. Then walk yourself over to the other window for a coke and chili or cheese fries. Commence mastication, fall promptly into food heaven + subsequent coma. Rinse and repeat.

Quite possibly the best Cheesesteak north of the Philly city limits and reasonable distance from Mercer/Burlington counties in NJ. Meat is high quality but it's cooked too well. If there was some deviation to the meat being a bit rarer would bring it more flavor. The pickle bar is a big plus..... a huge plus. Service is friendly and it's all made to order. If you aren't a big cheese person, make sure you get it on the "lighter" side. Just shy of being 5 stars.
