Got the rueben; Best rueben in wb I've had so far *Buttery crisp rye *The corned beef was perfectly cooked and seasoned and extremely tender *Sauce and kraut add massive flavor * Fries though were dry and a different quality than the sandwich *Feels a little small however *At 14$ you get a different level sandwich than your standard fare *And the super green pickle is the perfect compliment *service: cocky teenager thumbs down

One time I went hear and I ordered a hoagie - and they gave me a little bit of meat and what appeared to be two handfuls of shredded lettuce. Now if you're a guy, or girl - who loves shredded lettuce. I mean piled high. Just handfuls and handfuls of crisp, semi-delicious lettuce. That just mask the taste of your entire sandwich. Lettuce, with hints of salami and pepperoni. Or maybe you like lettuce with the faint phantom presence of sliced turkey. You're going to want to check out Goldstien's. They have a great sign, a great vibe - many beers, where you can mix a six. Load up your six pack with real live beer from microbrews across the US. and other countries such as Germany (known for the good work Chancellor Angela Merkel has done all these years with making their economy the most envied in all the EU.) Maybe try a beer from Connecticut that might have a fancy picture of elephants fishing, or a dog in a raincoat talking to another dog in a raincoat - both smoking pipes - and under the dogs it says something like "Harris Brewery: Dog Day Stout." And why your at it - grab a hoagie - wrapped in classic parchment paper. Go home, crack open a beer - maybe from a small brewery in Norfolk - because Norfolk has to have a brewery right? And then indulge in that hoagie. All your friends are going to be envious as Greece is of Angela Merkel, but instead of a sound economy being the object their envy. It's all that lettuce. Lettuce they want, lettuce they may never get, unless they go Goldstiens. Also note: If you sit down to dine in, no one may ever wait on you.

I ordered delivery with my family in hopes of a change. My fault. Three pizzas took over an hour on a week night. One was wrong and then took an additional hour and a half for the remake to be delivered. The food was lukewarm at best, but still the delicious flavor of Goldstein's. Two and a half hours later, my food was okay, but I never even heard an apology from the person who took my complaint, and she sounded very inconvenienced by the whole situation. If they made it right the first time, I wouldn't have needed a remake! Get it together, Goldstein's. You're letting down the locals who kept you running all these years!

Found glass in my potato salad. Was offered a refund for the potato salad. They did not seem concerned at all that they could have killed someone . Will never go back.

The food is great, The service is DOWN RIGHT POOR. They take forever to take your order even when your're the only one in the place and if they deliver, it takes them over one hour just to deliver + the other 40 mins after placing the call. If you call asking "ehm did the order leave??" they will give you so much attitud that it's not even worth it. Sometimes I think the owner has no idea who he hired to run the place! I'm giving them only 2 stars since the food is great. If you like to be mistreated then go, you... you ....Masochist . :) I recommend the London Broil wrap called Big Blue.

I don't get this place. I've been here twice in total. First time was ok, but only b/c I was able to catch up with a close friend I haven't seen in forever while we waited an hour for our food. Second time was on my lunch break. It's about 10 minutes from my work, so that basically left us with 40 minutes to order, wait, eat, and get the check. I generally am a patient person when going out to eat since I've worked in the restaurant industry. This was a bit much to handle. It took about 45 minutes to get our food, hence no time to eat. Overall, I wasn't happy with the service and food was just okay. All my friends rave about this place. Maybe b/c of the beer selection? Overall, not sure I'd go back, but wouldn't totally rule this place out to everyone reading this. Give it a whirl. Ya never know!

going into a jewish style deli, you would expect their sandwiches to be served on a good quality rye bread...wrong! the corn beef was o.k. but the bread was a soft supermarket style rye. Never been to a deli that didn't have mustard on the table..they ask you if you want mustard on your sandwich.

Hands down my favorite deli in NEPA. Huuuuge menu of amazing sandwiches. Appetizers are great, and huge portions. Their calzones are top notch, especially the buffalo chicken. But it really doesn't get any better than their sandwiches, huge variety, all amazing from chicken salad to the Three Little Pigs loaded with meats. Also an amazing beer selection for a deli. Mix and match six packs in the Wyoming valley, yes please. Service isn't always the best but as long as you know that going in the food more than makes up for it!!!!!!

I used to eat Goldstein's weekly as a kid, I just recently moved back to the area and I cannot believe how down the drain they've gone. I'm honestly surprised they're still in business! Their prices are outrageous; they even charged me $1.75 for a tap water! Is that even legal?! And the food is not worth the price whatsoever. Their pickles used to be rave-worthy and now they are just awful. They take forever to make a sandwich and they're no great shakes anyway. And the workers are actually RUDE. Terrible customer service... The deli is a five minute walk from my house but I'll get in the car and go to circles or beer deli before I'll ever give my business to Goldstein's again!

Best deli in the area for food. The food is a bit pricey but it is good quality food, so it's worth it. There is a great beer selection and selection of hard to find food items. The only reason I gave it three stars is because it get's slammed and takes a while sometimes to get your food. The dining room is pretty small and there is very limited parking. Great neighborhood lunch spot though and great for takeout.

REAL good food. Inventive sandwiches and daily specials. Service is hit or miss. Loses stars for less that stellar interior atmosphere. I never got take out here but I'm sure it's popular given the location.

Incredibly delicious food for carnivores and vegetarians alike and a MASSIVE selection of beer for take-out or "drink-in" that is one of the best in the valley. Huge sandwiches, delicious fries and an incredibly extensive menu. A total gem for the neighborhood. I recommend calling ahead whether taking out or eating in since the service is friendly but hilariously slow no matter how many patrons are present. That or bring something to read...

goldsteins by far blows the other deli's in the kingston area out of the water- their specialty sandwiches are amazing, the menu is huge without compromising quality- and they sell beer....a must go for lovers of rye

We went here for lunch today (Sunday 3/20/2011), and what a terrible experience it was! First of all, we waited about 25 minutes for 2 simple sandwiches to go. I ordered the hot pastrami special, and my wife ordered the veggie delight. We also got a medium sized bag of Middleswarth BBQ chips, and I got a Dr. Brown's black cherry soda. While waiting for our food, we looked around at the products that they were selling- and immediately noticed the filthy containers of separating mustard for sale, which looked like they expired about 5 years ago. Some of the packaged pastries on the counter were so old, the plastic was brittle and greasy. Pretty gross. Another thing that irritated me was the fact that they do not have their prices listed on their menu board. I guess you just have to hope that you have enough money for your lunch. There is also a sign that actually says that there are no refunds on food or drink- so that you better be satisfied with your purchase. I have worked in the food industry for most of my working life, and posting a sign like that translates to bad business to me. After receiving our food, we took it home, and my pastrami special consisted of overly fatty pastrami, and warm rye bread. Not the pastrami, Russian dressing, and coleslaw on grilled rye as specified on the menu. It was an inedible piece of garbage, and that is exactly where it went, in the garbage. My wife's veggie delight was also inedible. It consisted of a stale white bun with oily roasted red peppers, that were not drained so they saturated the bun, in addition to some shredded lettuce, with some wilted tomato slices. There was no cheese or balsamic dressing, as specified on the menu. Not very delightful. That also went into the trash. The chips and soda were good, but Goldstein's Deli didn't make those. Needless to say, this is our first and last time buying anything from this establishment. Two sandwiches, both made wrong? Unacceptable. I hope they take the $15.77 they charged us for the crappy lunch and put it towards some new mustard and pastries.

Friendly service, huge menu, fresh sandwiches. They also have a nice selection of beers (although some seem like they have been on the shelf awhile (ex. Oktoberfest beers in February? ). Overall really good place. Could use some remodeling or at least a fresh coat of paint in the dining area. The pastrami is really good, and the pastrami "ale jus" sandwich is my go to.

Amazing hidden gem, breakfast paninis are delish. We usually split the supreme breakfasr panini. Wonderfully tasty and huge. Hard to beat this place. Looks like a deli, and has a few tables in the back. Fresh and good quality ingredients.

I dont give many places 5 stars but i KNOW good deli's from old New York days and this place is incredible in variety and quality food. Its a sandwich paradise! I first tried their sandwiches and it was like a flashback of a forgotten time. I also dislike coleslaw. When i got through with theirs i thought of filling my garage with an endless supply for the zombie apocalypse. Never thought anyone could make me eat coleslaw. I was wrong. GO to this deli!

Goldstein's sandwiches are extremely varied and plentiful. Instead of a giant brick of meat and cheese, I can get a sandwich of proper serving size with unique, quality ingredients. With the huge variety, it may take awhile to find your favorite sandwich. When you do, good luck not getting it every time and having it beckon you. Today I rode my bike 16 miles to Goldstein's for my beloved Nantucket Melt and a Nugget Nectar. It beckoned. Thanks for never skimping on the goat cheese.

This place is a rare find in the Wilkes Barre area. Huge selection of food and beer. Over 300 beers. Quality food from an unexpected place. I lived here for three months before I tried it because I thought it was just a deli.

I used to dig this spot, but the last few times I've been there, I've had pretty sub-standard sandwiches. The service is friendly and attentive -- at least for takeout, but the meat quality seems to have gone down over the last two years.
