Whyyyyyyy do people like this place? The "chili" was akin to dog food, the hot dog was boiled, the cheese was unrecognizable, and the bun was soggy. Refer to the picture of the chili dog with cheese for evidence. Additionally, the chocolate milkshake we ordered was left in the blender unattended for far too long. It came to us in the form of chocolate milk. What a shame. I recommend going anywhere, anywhere at all, other than Jimmy's. It's absolutely NOT a destination.

Hot dogs grilled on the flat top, steamed buns, chili that would make just about anything taste better! While growing up in Hazleton, I have tried some other menu items but usually I don't even take a menu... Two dogs with just chili, fries with cheese and gravy, and a Farmer's iced tea. Yummy from beginning to end!

Still the best hotdogs in town but I don't sway from the dogs cause every time I do I leave disappointed... they need to stick with what they do best and that's dogs... they can't make breakfast to save their lives

Let me first start off by saying that I go here to eat everyday and I'm actually writing this review as I sit here waiting for my hot dogs. I have never been to a place where literally everything on the menu is the best. Hot dogs are amazing, burgers are amazing, and fries are always golden brown and amazing. However, not only is the food great, but every time I walk into Jimmy's I feel like I've been transported to a diner in the middle of a 1960s mystery film its great. Best place to eat period.

Started going to Jimmy's as a kid. Great hot dogs! Love Farmer's Iced Tea.

A local favorite for many reasons; good food, good people, and good prices, to name a few. The jimmy dog, which is a premium hot dog (opposed to an inferior major brand packaged dog), cheese, a mustard made of a house recipe blend of mustard, chopped onions, and homemade chili on a toasted bun, is the claim to fame. The chili is a drier chili which works very well for a less messy dog. Before looking for Jimmy's know this - if it sounds like a dive, looks live a dive, and taste like a dive, its probably a dive and Jimmy's is just that a dive restaurant. Bottom line: Jimmy's quick lunch is a great spot for a quick, tasty, and inexpensive lunch.

I grew up in Hazleton and have lived in NYC for years. I always stop at Jimmys when I come home. Jimmys is a must stop for two dogs with everything, large fries, and either a chocolate milk shake or a large cherry coke . It doesn't get any better!

I like hot dogs. A lot. Chili cheese dogs also. So it was with great excitement when I found out about Jimmy's at a place that work would be taking me for 2 days. We hit it up for lunch the first day. The hot dog and bun are superb. The dog is large but not too big with a nice crunch and the warm soft bun is something to behold. The chili is ... well dry seems an odd way to put it, but not like other chili I've had on other dogs, but it was a good compliment with the onions. I wish they had mustard on the tables, as an aside. The fries and rings were meh. Standard Sysco fare. Glad I stopped. Enjoyed the history and color of the place, as well as the excellent hot dogs. CASH ONLY.

People in Hazleton talk about this place like it's the best place ever. Maybe because they don't know better. Or maybe the hot dogs were once better than they are now and they only remember the nostalgia. Probably the most overrated place that I've ever eaten. They are no better than any other hot dog. I've had better ones at convenience stores. Don't go out of your way to try them.

Four stars for the authenticity of this survivor of a restaurant and the complete disregard for "presentation" - it's not how the Hotdog With Everything LOOKS on your plate (or, shall I say, the hotdogS, since you can't get just one), but how it tastes when you shovel the whole disgusting mess into your mouth. :) The BEST hotdogs in the area - and don't forget to order them with a side of fries WITH cheese AND gravy - just in case your arteries aren't fully clogged. I'm sure there are other equally good down-home kinds of things on their menu, but these are the only two things I've ever ordered, and probably ever will. If you're looking for a "quick lunch" in Hazleton, Jimmy's is definitely the place. Call for hours - there is one weekday that they're closed, I can't remember which it is.

Best chili dog ever. Period. Jimmy's is a Hazleton staple - the Jimmy Dog is as much a part of Hazleton as a Senape's Pitza. My parents are from Hazleton, so I know this place well. It hasn't changed a bit over the years. This is a second or third generation family business, and the interior is vintage lunch counter all the way. If you're a hot dog junkie, get in the car and come here. The dogs are a great size, the chili is perfect, and the bun is dead-on. This place is noisy, busy, and surly, just like a lunch counter should be. There's other stuff on the menu besides the dogs, but I've never ventured away from chili dog perfection. Did I mention these are the best chili dogs ever? Seriously, go here. Closed on Tuesdays, and when the owner (big guy, chili stained apron, usually slinging dogs behind the register) goes on vacation.

Kind of scummy, and not just the patrons, or the personnel. Just check out their "valet" parking in the back, and when you've disposed with that, ask to see their wine list. You'll probably get a toothless, hoarse chuckle from the help. Hot dog is a little too big in context of the bun. Too much low quality "meat" for my taste. Chili, onions, etc. are better than the dog. French fried potatoes range from excellent to frightfully greasy. Other food is hit and miss, mostly miss. An underwhelming experience. This place could be a lot cleaner. Indifferent staff thinks its funny when your meal is unsurprisingly unsatisfying, and sometimes brag about their lack of formal education. Mostly life's low grade losers populate the counter and booths.

Make me two, just chili. When the family gathers from parts afar, it is a tradition to go to Jimmy's to get Jimmydogs. Chili is sublime; the dogs are firm and tasty.

Not quite how I remember when I was younger and was living in the area. There was hardly any chili or onions on the hot dogs and were basically thrown together. When I was in my teens, I worked at Coney Island hot dogs in Hazleton and in my opinion, their hot dogs were by far better. Well from what I remember ;)

Best Hotdogs hands down!. Everywhere you go someone always says they have the best hotdogs, none that I have ever had comes closer to Jimmy's. I agree with Sandy M, nothing goes better with a Jimmy dog then a plate of cheese and gravy fries.

Gimmie a Jimmy! I grew up on jimmy's! We went there weekends from the time I was 5 or 6. The hotdogs done on the grill, not boiled or microwaved, get at least 2, if not more, they make them so fast you can't blink or you'll miss it. Onions, chili, mustard, kraut, green relish, bacon, cheese, ketchup. Anything you want. Jimmy's quick lunch is not just for lunch we've had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't stop at the hot dogs, try the other food too. Mac and cheese on Fridays, potato cakes during lent. Chip steak sandwiches like you make at home, chip steaks, oozing cheese. It's a local restaurant, but you'd be surprised how many people from even hundreds of miles away take time for a jimmy dog. I even took a friend from England there and he bought a shirt to wear back in the UK. If you haven't tried it, you should, I've never met a jimmy dog i didn't like.

I visit Jimmy's every month when we make the trek to Hazleton to get my husband's haircut. Seriously great hot dogs. The chili sauce is tasty and the dog is nice and plump. My favorite part is you can watch them being made in the window. I have never actually looked at the menu. My husband and I always order 4 dogs no onions, large fries and 2 diet coke.

One of the last OG spots left in Hazleton... enough said. Can't find a dog w/everything this good anywhere. I'll take Jimmy's over the World Famous Pink's in LA any fucking day of the week. I order 6 w/everything a sm/chz frie&gravy, 2 Farmer's Iced Teas and finish w/bread pudding. DO IT!

I am baffled at the raving reviews of this place. It is a sorry excuse for fast food, passed off as home cooking. Their fries are frequently microwaved, the cheese is fake. The hot dogs are disgusting, but not nearly as unappetizing as the 'chili' that they slop on top of them. Everything at Jimmy's is out of a can, frozen or microwaved. Good for them for staying open so long and for having regular customers, but shame on them for getting lazy, cutting corners and sacrificing quality in order to maintain a profit.

It's just a hot dog, right? Wrong! There is something diets Watson brand with the chili and mustard( no onions for me) on a perfectly steamed bun. This diner like place has been serving up quality dogs Long before my time and keep it simple but good. The view if the dogs on the flat top from a side walk view is something most places do not offer to their patrons and ads to the experience. I make sure to visit Jimm's when I'm in town for some hot dogs and a Farmers iced tea( in the carton of coarse)!

I always order 2 chilli hotdogs! which are REALLYYY GOOD! The service is great and very low prices!

  • Joe F.

Best dogs around! Get them with French fries and gravy. Usually has a crowd, waitresses are very good. Can't beat the prices. Only negative point is that you leave there smelling like an onion. Where your old clothes. Don't pass up "2 Up" with fries and gravy and a Coke. Don't go there on Tuesdays because they're closed that day

Destination restaurant is the best way to describe Jimmy's. Known for it's hot dogs, the joint is a staple of Hazleton. The dogs are good, not great. They won't upset your stomach like many served at stadiums, ballparks and street cars, but they aren't something to brag about either. The chili is just right. Not too "dry" (as stated on another review) -to my taste at least- nor too mushy, otherwise it'd be very difficult to eat. I do suggest that if you do go, sit at the bar and ask for Jimmy (grandson of the original Jimmy -the founder-) and strike up a chat about the history of the place and Hazleton.

Is it possible to give 0 stars? Seriously this place is that awful. There was a time back in the day, when this was the go to spot and the food was edible. Well this isn't 1997, i agree with the reviewer about nostalgia. I think people are remembering what used to be. The food has become stale and flavorless. The chilli for the chill dogs is dry and has no kick to it. Hot dogs do taste pre boiled and then tossed on the grill to cook for a few seconds. Makes them taste really weird that way. Burgers are very small and not very good. The fries are cold but that wasn't a surprise with one waitress and the place packed for lunch. The service was another thing that was better in the yesterday years. Overall i haven't been impressed. Go to your local gas station, or for the same price go to the grocery store and buy a pack of hot dogs. This place may be one of the last businesses of hazleton but as with the rest of them that have vanished .... this one should take a hint and become another nostalgic memory.

The best hotdogs on earth. You get it regular, "with everything" which is chili, mustard and onions. No more, no less.
