The waitress was nice and the staff were attentive. However, the food was horrible. It reminded me of Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay. Nothing was fresh and you can taste that the food was frozen, canned, or processed. For the price I was paying, I expected fresh food, esp since this place had high reviews. The poor quality of food makes me shudder to think how the kitchen looks and how it is run.

Horrible. Never again. I ordered the third choice imperial and I wish I hadn't. The shrimp was raw. Disgusting, server apologized but still... Something else should have happened. Would have loved to talk to the manager, although none were located. Also, we had the peach sorbet and it was frozen solid and frost bitten around the sides. You can see the photo in the photo section. Much more expensive than it needs to be. Definitely not worth the quality of the food. Server also was beyond horrible, and a little rude.

Don't really know what Fang is talking about...if the wait staff was attentive, how could the place be like Gordon Ramsey's?? Sounds like an idiot is trying to rate someplace that is a wonderful establishment...I've been there many, many times and the food, wait staff and kitchen staff are the best in the business...everything is cooked to order and the place bends over backwards to accommodate all who walk through the doors... So Fang, why don't you just go to McDonald's, Burger King or Popeye's? Don't try to ruin the reputation of a great little BYOB that's been around for over 15 years...

Strip mall place that's nothing fancy and decor/furniture feels a bit dated, but food is good. (Well, iceberg lettuce salads could use an upgrade) Reasonable prices and BYOB. Draws an older crowd and not too big, but usually never long for a table (if ever a wait).

This place at 1st looks like its whatever but the food was great and the staff amazing. I wish people would treat us like this in NYC. Gorge was great, the chef and Liz amazing server.

My parents held the rehearsal dinner for our wedding at Caruso's this past Friday. My (now) wife and I have had dinner there prior and thought it was outstanding! However, Friday surpassed all expectations. The food was wonderful, which we knew. But the dishes were executed flawlessly. It was brought out in a timely fashion, was piping hot, and loaded with well executed flavors. Perhaps the only thing better than the food was the service. Water and wine were never empty. The service was attentive but always in the background. My wife and I moved around from table to table to visit friends and family, hand out gifts and thank you's, etc and we never felt in the way. I highly recommend Caruso's for your any night dinner but can whole heatedly recommend it for a well catered and serviced party. Georgio will definitely take care of you!

Had dinner here the other night. The only good thing about our experience was the waitress who was very good. The food is extremely over priced. Many of the extremely over priced entrees don't even include pasta. My girlfriend ordered a side of pasta and asked for white wine sauce with it. It was 16 bucks and some of the spaghetti was clumped together and the sauce was genric tasting

Worst place I've ever eaten. Chicken parm was inedible. Pea soup was cold and tasteless. Don't waste your money at this place. Go somewhere else.

Went for the first time last Saturday at the suggestion of our daughter with my sister and husband. There were 5 of us. My dinner was very good as was most of the table but my daughter's meal was horrible. It was one of their regular menu items (lobster ravioli - which she had previously and really enjoyed- it tasted like they just poured the vodka overtop of the raviolis just before they served it). I offered to switch with her but we ended up just ordering her something different. It really was bad - something off in the preparation. Desserts were good. All prices were good even for the specials. Our waitress was not very cordial and would have preferred someone else. Will probably go back again. I just feel bad that my daughter's meal was not good and she's the one who suggested the place. We live about 5 minutes away so it's a good local choice. Love that it's a BYOB. Would like to give it 4 stars but can't because of the bad ravioli dish and the waitress.

Red sauce was completely tasteless. Also, because the pasta was not drained properly, my veal parmigiana was soggy instead of nicely crisped like it should be. The Italian food at Olive Garden sadly is better than this place. Bland, soggy food. Even at half this price would not be worth it. Look Elsewhere.

Considering it's in the middle of the suburbs, this is surprisingly great Italian food. I took my dad here for Father's Day and we had a great special: Gnocchi Pescador- home-made gnocchi with seafood like calamari and shrimp and mussels and clams in a red sauce. It was awesome. The gnocchi was light, and there was plenty of seafood in the dish. My dad doesn't like clams and mussels so he asked for double the shrimp instead, and the kitchen was happy to accommodate. We also started with the mozzarella and tomatoes, and we added roasted peppers- it was a perfect way to start a meal. We also have a great waitress- she was friendly, patient and efficient. We were seated right away when we arrived at the restaurant even though it was a Friday night, and the service overall was top notch. The only reason I won't give this place 5 stars is because their bread isn't great.

We had a 10 person party to celebrate a birthday and a graduation. It was delicious as usual! They catered to each on of us, providing "the grandpop special!" Beautiful atmosphere and outstanding customer service!

I don't normally eat at Italian restaurants as I cook my own, and I grew up eating homemade Italian food . . . So I was skeptical about Caruso's as I am with any other Italian restaurant. As a result, I have a litmus test for Italian restaurants; I order Pasta Aglio e Olio (Pasta with Garlic and Oil). If they can make this in an authentic fashion then they are worth my patronage. And I have to tell you, it was as good as what I had in Sicily! By the way, the owner is from Sicily, and the recipes are authentic! Food was wonderful; everything we ordered was superb! The service was quick and efficient and the prices are reasonable! Even better, Caruso's is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) restaurant, so bring in your favorite bottle of wine then enjoy an amazing meal!

If you are looking for yummy Italian food without a ghastly pricetag, come here. BYO, great service, great food. This place was empty when I went but I have no idea why! The food is delicious and inexpensive. They have a lot of standard Italian dishes and the specials are always amazing. I got a spinach-stuffed chicken breast with ham and cheese in a rose sauce with spaghetti. Delish! Everything is handmade and delicious. AND IT'S A BYO! The atmosphere was bland, but the service was perfect. I really want to give them 4.5 stars because I hate to complain about ambience.

This is one of those places I must have driven by a thousand times and always thought, "gee, I want to go there" but never did.....until this past weekend. Caruso's is a cute, quaint little restaurant in strip mall. It's a BYO, which just about all of the guests that night seemed to do! We started off with a complimentary appy of nice garlicky brushetta. I had the yummy lentil soup, while hubby had a wonderful portabella mushroom stuffed with crab. Both dishes were delicious, albeit the mushroom could have been a little larger and a little more generously stuffed for the price. I wanted old school italian that night, so I went for the chicken parm. It was good, but nothing special (OK, I get the fact that chicken parm is nothing special!), and seemed to be lacking the (again more generous) amount of melted mozzarella I was craving. The sauce tasted homemade and was accompanied by a nice side of pasta. Hubby went for a salmon special, which he loved. It was served with a side of nicely steamed veggies. We had coffee and took home a piece of their homemade rum cake, which we savored the next evening. All of their desserts are homemade and they all looked wonderful. Service was very friendly, attentive and you can see they attempt to go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and satisfied. We will definitely visit again.

Great food great price, BYOB! The first time I went there I dined in and it was great. Service was great, food was better, and the price was the best. Just the other night I ordered takeout, food was just as good as if we dined in. This is a great place to take the whole family or for a quite night out for two.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
