I'm not usually big on buffet restaurants, but I have to admit I enjoy Ryans. This vegetarian is like a kid in a candy store. I definitely leave stuffed and happy. The salad bar is always fresh. The meatatarians in the house LOVE everything, from the fried chicken and meatloaf to the tacos. I like watching the kids try different foods. The dessert buffet is awesome.

We'll start with the good. This won't take long. The staff is friendly. The food is hot. Ok. Now on to the rest. The "steaks" are a crime against cooking. Those cows died in vain. Ryan's advertises "prepared to order." What they mean by that is they have a bunch of tiny strips of beef grilled and when someone wants one, they throw it on the grill to warm it up. The guy at the grill had no idea what he was doing. I asked for a medium rare, I got beyond rare, bordering on completely uncooked. So the next trip up, I asked for a medium, and I got a charbroiled piece of shoe leather. The steak has no natural flavors left and is not really tender. The rest of the buffet wasn't that bad, but not memorable or worth a return trip. With so many decent steakhouses around (Outback, Texas Roadhouse, Texas Longhorn, Ruby Tuesday, etc) there is just no reason to go to Ryan's. There is a wi-fi router inside, but the waitress didn't know the password. "I don't really think it's for customers."

This place use to be really good . Over the past few years it went down hill. The prices went up and the quality of the food went down. Steaks are horrible can't even bite into them they are over cooked and tough and the food is less than average. We went there on a Friday and they had raised the price for Mother's Day on a Sunday. I didn't think that was right

Meh.....its Ok. The price is reasonable but food quality did not meet the price. Along with the usual selection of fried/stewed/baked items they do offer steak grilled to order, soups, a modest salad bar and desert. I was not happy that the cashier added a 10% tip without my consent but we tip regardless so it was not a big deal. I personally will not return but if you want a full belly and do not expect too much you will be satisfied

I ate here last Sunday With family around noon. My mother cut out two coupons for a dollar off their lunch special. Unfortunately there is no lunch on Sundays in Ryan's world. They went straight from breakfast to dinner. I asked the attendant if he could honor the coupons anyway and he replied "that function is not available on my kiosk or I would". He was apologetic and still polite So, paying full price for the dinner menu, We set out to find a table. The Decor is Nothing fancy, but it was made up of warm bright and welcoming colors. I also like that it was very well lit. Personally I don't like restaurants that are so dark you can't see what you're eating(El Rodeo). The Food was very good considering that it was a buffet. I kept it very simple I went for the roasted chicken which, to my delight, had a very tasty seasoning on it, mashed potatoes-made with real mashed potatoes green beans, and a cornbread biscuit which didn't ,taste very good. My mother cut me a slice of her brisket and it was moist and had plenty of flavor. The second course was a salad with two lime wedges squeezed overtop. I may have made it bit too heavy but I only ate half, nonetheless it was very delicious. The produce was fresh and crisp. I would certainly come back. My brother dared to have dessert and that big piece of chocolate cake that he brought back looks so tempting. Basing this statement by the look on his face as he ate it, he thoroughly enjoyed it. As far as buffet's go, it's definitely one of the better ones I've ate at here in Hanover, but you be the judge.

My wife had a hankering for a buffet and asked if I knew of an Old Country Buffet nearby. I said no, so I went to their website and put in my ZIP code; the Old Country Buffet website gave me this Ryan's (I did not know before then that the two chains are owned by the same company). I had been to a Ryan's before -- somewhere in West Virginia when I used to have a motorcycle and ride with a motorcycle club -- for brunch, and I remember enjoying it. Hanover's not far from us, so I thought it would be a good place to satisfy my wife's buffet cravings. We went for dinner. Either Ryan's dinner is not as good as their brunch, or this particular Ryan's location is not as good as the one I visited in WV. I was far more impressed with the brunch I had in WV. The food was just decent and yet better quality than I'd expect for the price -- heck they even had steak. (Steak? At a buffet? I had low expectations for the steak quality but it wasn't bad... Don't get me wrong it wasn't the quality you'd get at a steakhouse or even at a Outback or Longhorn but I guess if you expect the worst you will never be disappointed). Giant sweet potatoes as well. There aren't many vegetarian options here, but it *IS* a buffet, so you can load up on veggies again and again if you wish.. We must have come near closing time as I went up to the buffet first, and some of the veggies I got as sides were not available just a few minutes later when my wife went up, and they weren't replaced.

Was wonderful! The server Kim was great! The service was phenomenal! Food was good, although my steak was over cooked it was still good. But can't rave enough over the server, she truly is amazing!

Wow, this place was packed! It was quite crowded, even after 7:30PM, so that's always a good thing, right? First time I'd been here in many years. Was hungry and the kids prices are pretty decent so I thought I'd check it out again. I was pleasantly surprised. Food was pretty good, service was great. I seemed to really like the meatloaf for some reason, and I kept going back for more of that, the corn, and the mashed potatoes. Those are rules for buffets, am i wrong? Overall, it's a pretty decent buffet, and steak and chicken is always included. I've been to better buffets, but those also cost more. I'll be going back again, and you should definitely try it out, at least to get some of that meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn!!

another staple on those trips back east. The folks love this place and you will too, if you like that "oh-my-god-I-can-put-as-much-as-I-want-on-these-plates-and- even-though-I'm-already-feeling-sick-I'm-gonna-keep eating-'cause-there's-still-more-items-to-try-and-space-on-the-plate-so why-stop" kinda place. I have to admit I totally get into it. It's fun to put everything on one plate, even when it all sort of mixes together in non-traditional ways. (Especially then. ) Like mixing fruit cup, mashed potatos and greenbeans, lime jello and meatloaf on different parts of your plate. I mean why leave any empty space on the plate, right? Hmm, how many starches can we put on the plate ? Hmm let's see: French fries, mashed potatoes (baked potato) corn, mac-n-cheeze, potato salad and a fried chicken thigh (with roll) on top? Oh, and I'll have a blueberry muffin with that, too. Do I feel a twinge of pause, looking around at the other people in the buffet line waiting for the fried chicken or carved ham, the cross section ranging from the pleasingly plump to the morbidly obese? (someone often using a little rascal to zip around the bar, maybe even hooked to an oxygen tank. Really) My stomach is already so full, I'm feeling sick er, don't think about it. . .there's still dessert on the horizon. My recommendation is to go fifteen minutes before dinner starts, so you get in-the-door at the 'lunch' price but, while you're there, the dinner items come out. Lots of seniors do this. (From me to you.) So I'll review at '3' stars, right in the middle-- if you feel a good value is more about leaving full than having good quality food, (and perhaps even so full you feel really sick) this place could be five stars for you.
