Been here many times and its consistently good. Fries are made to order and delicious. I always get the cheesesteak with sauce and onions and it is so good that I'm not motivated to try anything else. Be careful, you can burn your mouth on the cheesesteak because it is piping hot when you get it.

Stopped in based on the reviews on Yelp. I found the food to be average in both flavor, proportions and price. We had the chicken noodle soup which had no flavor. The chicken parm sandwich and cheesesteak was your normal run of the mill hoagies. I would not go out of my way to come back here.

Made to order good food! Large salads are very large! The Maine red wine vinegar dressing was superb.

First time here. Found about this establishment when using yelp to find local eateries to patronize on our planned trip to cabelas. This place is a needle in a haystack. If you didn't know it was there you'd probably never look for it. This isn't your normal sub shop. VERY clean, nice decor, and friendly service. Loved the fans and track lighting throughout the place. I had the half cheesesteak. Comes in mini, half and full if I remember correctly. The half was more than enough for 1 person. Taste and quality was excellent. If your in close proximity to this place and you don't stop in, its your loss.

We stopped here based on Yelp reviews on our way to Hershey Park. The reviews didn't let us down. The Philly cheese steak (onions and peppers) and side salad we ordered was amazing. The portions were generous (not overly so) so my husband and I ended up splitting a medium sub. Our kids really enjoyed the homemade fries and kid meals. The restaurant itself is clean, modern and the staff is friendly. We are so glad we listened to the Yelp reviewers! If you like a homemade and unique sub, stop here...you won't be disappointed.

Delicious, delicious subs. Truly a standout in the area, with both cold and hot options of hoagies featuring the classic cold cuts as well as hamburger patties and chili on their Texas Burger Sub. The atmosphere is wide, bright, and clean. It offers a better dine-in experience than even some local chain stores, friendly service included. So far, the only disappointment I've had was with the sides. The pierogies were tough, chewy, and reminiscent of the frozen stuff. Fries were a bit too greasy and would turn soggy over time. Regardless, I will happily return again and again for Hecky's specialties!

Awesome sub shop! My boyfriend and I each ordered a cold sub to eat in and a bowl of chicken rice soup to split. The subs were great and big! The soup was bland.

I haven passed this wonderful sandwich shop for over 20 years and finally drove here as they had a special offer for Yelpers. Buy a small 11 inch sandwich...get a free small drink and fries. The fries were very tasty and needed no ketchup. The soda here is Pepsi products. My turkey and provolone sandwich was presented on a huge soft roll, which held up well. The turkey and cheese blended well and the fresh lettuce , tomatoes and mayo gave my sandwich the "finishing touch". I had to take half if it home as I was stuffed...and this will be a routine stop for me when I am hungry in Hamburg.

Stopped here as a quick lunch driving on I-78. Off the road and well worth the trip. Best cheesesteak ever. Their small is a serious sub; order a mini unless you have a huge appetite. Good, flavorful fries and the best catsup I have tasted. Must be homemade! Clean and friendly service, too!

Worth the short detour off the highway. The cheese steaks were great! One of us had the turkey sub and loved it too.

I and three friends had lunch here today and it was really good. Three of us had different kinds of cheese-steaks, and the fourth had a turkey hoagie. We split an order of fries. All of it was tasty and quick, and we'd all go again. Hecky's also honored the Yelp free drink and soda on our order, which I much appreciated. A comment on other reviews. The reviews are pretty old, and the most recent review (12 months ago) seems to mostly complain about the soup. I can't comment on the soup, but if you're going to a place called "Hecky's Sub Shop" maybe you should order a sub. They're good.

I worked here for four years, and I still love to go back and eat there--I never got tired of it! Everything is fresh, and most of it homemade. Everything that isn't homemade is hand-picked by the owner for quality. I have eaten at sub shops all over northeastern PA, and this is still my absolute favorite. Even if you aren't in the mood for a cold sub, they offer hot sandwiches, salads, freshly cut french fries, and more! Kids menu items come with an "after dinner bribe." The place was temporarily under new management for a few months in 2012, but the new owner has been back for over a year now. Hecky's has been serving the community for over 30 years--definitely a must-try if you're passing through Hamburg!

Excellent cheese steaks -- the best we've found in the area so far. Tuna salad was also good. The taco salad needs a little help though (maybe beans or chili on top and keep the black olives but skip the green olives. Also please add jalapenos!). Friendly owners/staff always make you feel welcomed when you walk in the door.

Stopped in on my way home from work for a sub. I have to say that I have eaten here before but I think since the new owner took over, the place has gone downhill to the point of no return. I got an Italian sub and there was absolutely nothing Italian about it. The meat seemed slimey - very poor quality. What was advertised on the menu and what I got in my sub were two different things. Pretty much disgusting. It's a shame.

I lived in Hamburg for 6 years now. I ate here enough for the woman inside to refer to me as "the soup guy" every time I walked in the door because I ordered the soup a lot. It was the best soup in town. The price was a little high for small sandwich shop, but I'm willing to pay good money for good food and the quality matched the price. About 2 maybe three months ago it all changed. Seen signs for new management, and new hours and half the menu board was blacked out.... then two weeks after that another hours change, then another hours change. Now they are open 10am-3pm. Whoever the new owners/managers are, have drastically decreased the quality of food and service. The quality of the food here has plummeted to a very poor standard. I bought a turkey club that had (and this is no exagerration) one slice of turkey on it. I bought a crab bisque soup that was filled with long strands of surimi. My third and last visit I bought lobster bisque. Was my all time favorite soup they made there. My disappointment was paramount. It seemed like nothing more than cream of potato out of a cambells can with some old bay seasoning and a drop of food coloring to make it pink. I took two bites and threw three soups away. I'll never go back there again. This used to be a main staple of the community, a place I could take visitors to, or recomment visitors go to. Quite frankly I'm disgusted because I watched my favorite place to eat in town turn into a place I would not go to if invited, basically overnight. Bottom line, if you came through hamburg before and remember this place having good food, or someone you know once told you they had good food and your thinking of stopping in, don't. The food is terrible and quite frankly they close at 3pm now anyway so chances are you'll walk up to an empty building. Such a shame.

I was only given take out from this establishment, but I can say that the Italian sub was extremely good. There were an immense amount of thinly shaved white onions with the perfect amount of Italian seasoning. The meat and cheese were in great supply and very fresh. I will do my part to recommend Hecky's. P.S: goes great with an A-Treat Fruit Punch soda!

Best sub shop around. My wife and I love the ham sub and cheese steaks. The ham is chipped and the bun is not to over bearing. A nice balance of flavors. The price is reasonable too. It is only four blocks off of 78. Take the Hamburg exit not the Cabela's exit. If you are going east it is the exit immediately after passing Cabela's. If you are going west it is the exit before Cabela's, after the Lenhartsville Exit. If you are coming off 78 just turn right at the traffic light in town and it will be on your right.

Heckys used to be awesome back in the day, but lately it seems to be hit or miss. They occasionally goof up orders, and the overall taste is sometimes amazing, sometimes bland. The only real alternative is V&S, though, and they have the same issues. The best sub in the world is still Cassapulla's in Delaware, but that's.. far from here.
