This place was amazing! I am visiting from northern Virginia and happened to come in for lunch. The pizza was amazing- the crust and the topping were so good and fresh! But the desserts! The homemade desserts were out of this world! I love to bake, so I can be rather critical. The Philadelphia butter was absolutely delicious!! There were so many choices that looked very delectable. Next time I visit, I will make an effort to come back!

Great food. Homemade tasty pastas and sauce. Dinner has complimentary sweet buns and fresh bread. Portions on dinner are over the top. Enough spaghetti to feed a family of four. Took home large doggie bag with spaghetti, cheese ravioli and beef ravioli...we three people were stuffed to the gills. Homemade soups are excellent and the salad had a nice addition to it in the way pg condiments.

Breakfast buffet on Sundays is awesome. Their food is always good. Their prices are normal. The place is decent to eat at. Their pizza is alright, not my favorite, but is still good. My biggest complaint is no credit cards.

Not going to leave her hungry broke. Great menu either for pizza or pasta etc. Not to pricy and you get a good portion. Love the cinabun you get with bread

Surprisingly good pizza place and basic Italian restaurant. I expected this place to be pretty awful when we arrived, but the food was pretty decent. The pasta was simple, but fine. The honey fried chicken wasn't bad at all, the fries were good too. My friends ordered a couple of slices of the broccoli pizza, I was very jealous. They said there was a ton of garlic in this top and bottom crusted pizza, and it smelled great. The best part of the meal comes with pretty much whatever you order though: the sticky buns. These are similar to Cinnabuns as they are the type of soft that only occurs when the dough is 99% butter. The icing melts in a warm gooey mess. Absolutely delicious. Service was great, our server was friendly and was cracking jokes with us throughout the meal, even though we were the last people in there and they closed right after we left.

I am from Brooklyn, NY. I've been to MANY Italian restaurants in Brooklyn, Staten Island & Manhattan. I also tried many authentic Italian families cooking from my family to friends, to my boyfriend's Italian family.... This place doesn't compare at all to anything I've tried elsewhere!! I came here with my boyfriend and his dad because this was one of the nearest places to eat from where his dad's vacation home in the little community in Eagle Lake is. As soon as we walked in we noticed it was crowded with a lot of people. The locals seem to really enjoy it. I guess they don't know any better!! We also noticed it was COLD in this restaurant!! There was no heat on in there at all. I had to eat with my coat on! They also don't accept credit cards. I was warned by my boyfriend's dad to stay away from the Italian food here. He said it is safe to order a burger. But my boyfriend and I didn't listen. After all it is an "Italian Restaurant" so I wanted to try something "Italian". I ordered the cheese ravioli with their "authentic" sauce and he ordered the linguine with clam sauce. Our meals came with a salad or soup. We first got bread and cinnabons. I thought that was strange but the cinnabons were actually really good. The cinnabons, bread and salad were the only things I got that were good. When our meals arrived I couldn't wait to try it! I was very disappointed though...The sauce had no taste whatsoever!! I couldn't taste a thing. I could make much better sauce than that I said right away!! My boyfriend than looked down at his plate of food and immediately noticed a long black hair in it! (GROSS!) He took it out and didn't say anything to the waitress!! I would have said something right away but that's just me! He then tried his linguini with clam sauce and he said it was terrible!!!! The clams didn't taste fresh at all and he said the garlic didn't either. It was probably the ones that were in the jar. I won't be coming back here the next time I am in the area visiting!

As a " local " this used to be the best pizza in the area . Notice key words used to service is mediocre at best most times . The quality of the food has slipped so bad I'd rather eat at McDonald's at least there you know it'll be bad all the time so no surprises .

I use to LOVE Kay's... Their food, and service. Now? I won't dine in bc of the subpar service I get, and the quality of food, not to mention the dingy dining area... I did give them 2 stars bc last week when I was craving a cheesesteak I called for a take out for that and wings. When I got home, the grease was already through the bun, with a little amount of cheese on it. I know that cheese steaks are greasy, don't get me wrong. But I had ordered many of these through the years there, and this was just disgusting and went right in the garbage. I opened my wings up, and it was as if they poured wing sauce in the bottom of the container, and dumped my wings in, not even coated. The reason I am giving them 2 stars and not any is because when I called and complained, it took a little coaxing on my part, but I got a full refund towards another meal, for another day. When I do order again. I hope the double crust white pizza hasn't changed.

I love Kays! I especially love making my own pizza. Sometimes you have to wait a little while because there is a lot of people, but that is not there falt. So I am not taking of a star because of that. So everything is perfectly fine. I could totally go another 1000 times.

Absolutely overrated. Nothing special here. Tried Kay's Italian restaurant a few times. In summary, the food is boring/bland. What it lacks in flavor, they try to make up for in size. Big portions of seriously lack luster food. Over done with cheese, butter, oil, etc. if you've eaten in seriously authentic Italian food in New York or Philly, this pales in comparison. But if dining out for you is finding huge portions of cheese laden food to stuff yourself with at a reasonable price, then you'll be happy here. Never tried the pizza though which others gave good reviews.

Great pizza. The crust is absolutely amazing and they will split the pizza if you like. We had the old world and traditional half and half pizza and both were delicious. Great food and atmosphere.

Tossed up between a 4 and a 5 but felt that since my family has been going here for years - and almost always extremely happy - 5 was more fitting. In the mood for some comfort food - you'll be thrilled.

I generally go to the Poconos every summer and at least once a summer I have to stop by Kay's. We usually only get either eggplant parmigiana hero's or their white pizza because those are pretty much the best items they have on the menu. As far as pricing is concerned, its relatively inexpensive compared to an equivalent meal in NYC. Cinnabuns: Awesome Mozzarella Sticks: Awesome Onion Rings: Awesome You can try all of their menu items and most likely not be disappointed considering the location, price and general atmosphere there, as the wait-staff is pretty amicable, much like most of the locals in Gouldsboro. If you ever happen to find yourself there and want some good pizza or Italian-styled dishes, stop by Kay's and enjoy.

My four stars is based solely on the breakfast buffet on sunday mornings. Delish and very pocket friendly! This cute little Italian resturant has an old vibe and is very family friendly. It also is a mini bakery and transforms itself into a breakfast buffet on Sunday mornings. For under ten bucks you can have all the waffles, bacon, eggs, bagels, doghnuts, juice, sausage, french toast, fresh baked break, fruit ect. you want. What a steal!!!!! Make a stop, you won't regret it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
