For an ice cream treat or milkshake on a hot summer evening, you can't really go wrong with Kristie's. They have a huge variety of cold, creamy concoctions that I'm sure anyone would agree are great. The staff is nice too. The roadside shop is true vintage and will bring back memories of trips in the back of Mom and Dad's station wagon. A plus is it's location. You can enjoy a scenic drive along the river during your expedition. The variety of ice cream is impressive and they have really generous portions. Soft serve? Hand scoop? Milkshakes, flurries, sundaes? Check all of the above. I've never eaten anything other than ice cream related delights. The milkshakes are really the best I've had in the area. Can't attest to the burgers, dogs or BBQ. But, forget that stuff. Why not have a milkshake for dinner. You're an adult, so that's okay.

Ate here most recently for a dessert. This time it was a warm summer night and the place was going bananas was people of all ages. I got a cinnamon roll sundae with chocolate ice cream, marshmallow sauce, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry. Wow. The sundae comes on a true authentic cinnamon roll and the ice cream is still marvelous. Excellent custard and no skimping on the toppings. It was just very sweet. But for the price I paid for it, safe to say I was definitely satisfied. Will be back!

Getting out of the car locals stopped us asking if this was our first time in Enola. Then going on how Kristy's will be the highlight of our trip here and recommending the caboose burger. Seeing as Enola is one street this was not a tough task but it really was a great dinner. Full of locals happily eating burgers, wings, huge scoops of ice cream I quickly saw the charm of the place. It's a bunch of girls working and they make it fun and light hearted. The menu is your usual american fare, we opted for the caboose (burger with pulled pork), spicy popcorn chicken, veggie burger and kids meal. All the burgers are served on housemade fresh and tasty pretzel rolls, and everything tasted great. I think the popcorn chicken was tyson and with that not worth it but the rest was great, loved the super crunchy fries. The highlight was the ice cream. My son got his free with the kids meal, I got two csoops for $1.50 and they were huge! Where else can you get that?!! I had deep dish apple pie and caramel peanut butter cheesecake and sampled some other flavors, everything was rich, creamy and full of chunks of whatever was supposed to be in there. Fun, family friendly stop for good cheap eats, worth the stop!

In town for the Chrysler Nationals....the car club needed a cool place to meetup for some chat, catching up and some ice cream. Kristy's provided a great spot and awesome ice cream! Service was FAST and accurate, and help was cute too. Parking can get tight when they are busy. Nice pavilion like area to sit and enjoy the evening. Those of us that had food really enjoyed that. Definitely will return.

We visited this place a month or so ago for ice cream. We both got a cmp with hard ice cream. we really enjoyed it and all of the ingredients tasted good. People were ordering burgers and fries and all looked good. The parking lot isn't huge but they can run out of room quickly. Today we decided to get burgers and fries. They came out pretty quickly and looked good. I got the burger with the onion ring and bbq sauce, and my wife got the whistl burger. The fries were covered with cheese and chili. The fries were pretty good, but i'd like to try them without the stuff on them. The burgers were not good at all. The patty that is used is a pretty cheap one. Whatever freezer they get it from, they must use a lot of filler in it as it doesn't really taste good. The rolls seemed to be old also. There are no free refills either. Last time our cmp's were great, because we asked for hard ice cream instead of soft. Well, we forgot this time and the cmp wasn't polished off like the last time. This review got a 2 because of the good ice cream we got last time. The food isn't really good otherwise. If you want a decent burger, go to five guys.

Charmingly decrepit but so are the sugar cones. Got an ice cream cone and seriously the cone tasted like it has been on a shelf for 30 years.

8/27/08 6pm- CASH ONLY - SEASONAL I heard good things about Kristy's, so I stopped in for ice cream. I chose to have a peanutbutter cup cheesecake chocolate hurricaine (their version of the Blizzard or McFlurry). There was only one couple in line ahead of me so I didn't wait long to be served, but I swear tectonic plates move faster than the chick behind the counter at Kristy's Whistle Stop. I would have left if the line was long. The soft-serve ice cream was somewhat average. The prices were crazy, my 24oz hurricaine was more than $5. I learned long ago that I don't care for the combination of chocolate and cheesecake, so it's not really Kristy's fault that I didn't like my ice cream. The hurricaine was not as good as DQ's Blizzard or the McFlurry and costs way more. I will go back to Kristy's Whistle Stop to try some of the menu items. I've heard good things about the BBQ. I'll keep ya posted. Website: kristyswhistlestop.com

BBQ sandwiches are very good. Fries are fantastic (think boardwalk fries style). Soft serve is worth the trip alone, and the long wait. I can't stay away from their peanut butter soft serve. In the fall Kristy's done a pumpkin soft serve with graham dusting - amazing.
