There are a lot of pizza places in this area but the best is Mikes. Great crust on the pizza. Their Stromboli s great. Great eggplant parm, chicken parm and their pasta dishes are great as well. Service is good depending on your wait person. Always nice just some are better than others.

Absolutely love this place. The staff is very friendly and the food is great! Their new appetizer - the meatball sliders - are a definite order. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is because they don't deliver.

Driving around looking for a place to eat, we passed this place and it was crowded. Very nice looking place with large screen TV. Very good selection of typical pizzeria foods. My girlfriend had the lobster ravioli and like it. I had the shrimp in a red sauce. The sauce was too watery and flavor less(spoiled New Yorker). The shrimp was nice size and the pasta was fresh. For an Italian place in the Poconos it wasn't too bad.

I new Mike way back in the early 90s. When he helped Vincent's thrive. When Mike went on his own, the West End was put on the map. Thank you Mike for "ALL" the times you fed my family. Be it individually or catered. I'm now living in Hawaii and miss his delicious menu so much. If I could make a dream come true. It would be that Mike would open his restaurant here in Hawaii. He could retire a very wealthy man. There is absolutely nothing like his delicious menu here. MISS YOU MIKE.

Most items inconsistent from one visit to next. Marsala, Lasagna & Spaghetti w/ "meatball" dishes left something to be desired. We are usually satisfied w/ their hoagies & Steak sandwiches even though the rolls sometimes do not appear to be fresh. Have had to take them home & toast them to crisp them up. Have not been disappointed w/ their Mussels. I like that they serve them open. Staff inconsistent like the food. Waitress voted best of the Poconos discarded, rather than boxing, our leftover Antipasto when our order came and when brought to her attention didn't offer to replace it. So much for the validity of the Best of the Poconos. Best outside dining? LOL!

Just had a catering order from Mikes.... Always the best!! Everyone raved about the food! Mike's Pizzerias are the best in the area, and the staff are very cordial and friendly.... I will never go anywhere else for pizza or home made food besides Mikes!!

This review is 4 stars, but I know it has the potential to be 5. Being from NY, I knew it would be hard to find a decent pizzeria in the area. The first time I came here I got a Sicilian slice and it was really good- way better than I expected. I came back two times after that- hoping for the same experience as the first. The second time I came back I got a sicilian slice, again. It wasn't as good-being reheated- as it was when I got it fresh the first time. It's understandable though, a fresh slice won't always be there waiting for me. The next time I ordered for takeout. I thought that since I wouldn't be able to guarantee a fresh slice, I would just order a whole pie so that I could guarantee this. When I brought the pie back home I was very disappointed. It was just around noon when I picked it up and I'm pretty sure the entire pie was from the night before. I feel that if someone orders a whole pie- you should at least just be able to make it fresh for them since that is what they are anticipating. Anyways, all of the cheese was kind of gross so I took it off my slices. The breading of the slices were really soft and not crispy at all which didnt make for a good texture at all. I really hope the next time I go there I'll actually be getting something just made.

Dinners are always fresh and nice size portions. There pizza should stay in the oven for a couple minutes longer to get crispy. Always ask for well done pizza and still not crispy enough for our taste. We prefer there pizza with meatballs, very tasty.

We've been a customer of Mike's for years now. Before they had the fire in Broadheadsville. I have to say, was the Best food in the area. The place in Effort took a while to get food back in shape but we find it really good now:) service is always great too!

I have trouble giving this place 4 stars simply because the food quality varies so much. You can get some of the best pizza and calamari in the area one week and then the next time you go it can be below average. Sometimes they add a lot of toppings, other times not nearly enough. It's the definition of hit-or-miss. On hits I would say it's worth 4/5 stars, on misses they're only 2/5. It's tough to pick them for dinner with a place across the street that has consistently good Italian food.

Got food there a couple of times and the pizza is decent. Only complaint is some of the apps like the jalapeño poppers are frozen and the onion rings are way too greasy. But all in all, its probably the best choice if you want some NY style Pizza.

Ordered a Italian hoagie for lunch, was one of the worst hoagie rolls I ever had. There must've been 1 million Sesame seeds on it. I think I paid over eight dollars for it not a value.

I'm giving them 2 stars because the food is pretty good, but the service is horrible. My family (of four) ordered simple things like salad and pizza and they waitress still managed to mess it up. She gave us plain pizza instead of pepperoni. Also, as my boyfriend waited to use the men's restroom, he noticed that one of the cooks used the bathroom and didn't wash his hands. Ew.

We eat here frequently and have never had anything we didn't like. The food is always fresh, well prepared, and huge portions. The service is fantastic and the pizza is always good!!

Overcharged THREE times in a row - -all different days. Watch your wallet! Better tasting and more reasonably priced food around.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
