I've eaten here several times and really like it. It's quiet and has a variety of seating arrangements - booths, tables, low tables. It's a little nicer than casual. The crab cakes are delicious. There is a nice back room that is lovely for large groups. The wait staff are always pleasant and patient. They also donated a gift certificate to a local cause so kudos for generosity. I wish they had a better after-dinner offering. I went for dessert and coffee one evening and there wasn't much to choose from and only plain coffee, nothing fancy.

Half priced wine and mixed drinks on weekdays before 6 PM! I'd been meaning to visit this spot for some time now, and I enjoyed my experience. The decor is gorgeous and the service was perfect. I loved the fresh bread and the house cabernet was delicious and inexpensive! My salad was a bit wilted and had a few brown leaves, which is a huge peeve of mine if you've read my other reviews, but it wasn't inedible. If it were otherwise, I would have given this place five stars. I expect to be back for their pizza, as I've heard it is very good as well.

The place is beautiful to bad the food and the service doesn't compare. The menu is sparse.Pasta sauce choises are red or white and neather is any good. All in all STAY AWAY.

The drinks were really nice and cold...good job....salad was fresh, but consisted of a lot of greens...one slice of cucumber and one tomato wedge..soup was above average...now the pizza....simply a large block of cheese....very thin crust...with no crispness at all...soggy and pretty tasteless...basically way too much cheese just overpowering everything... good service and a really nice atmosphere....would try again, but no pizza....

We really wanted to like Costello's, but this was our last attempt. Our server, April, was very kind, but the quality of the food simply is not there. Italian wedding soup was tasty, but it is clearly not homemade - probably an already-made bag of soup that most restaurants use. Mozzarella sticks are also the typical frozen, beer-battered version found at any restaurant. Dinners come with Italian bread, which was good, but the cup of oil with minimal spices that came with it perplexed us. It is not extra virgin olive oil, which I'd hope for at an Italian place, and there were about five red pepper flakes in it - see picture. We just used butter instead. The ricotta gnocchi ARE homemade, but the "sauce" had a terrible flavor. Chopped tomatoes are sautéed with garlic, basil, and a TON of red pepper flakes but little other spices or flavor. I had to send it back - my stomach can't handle spicy food, and there is no mention of it being spicy on the actual menu. I got a side of meatballs which were unsauced and simply tossed on my gnocchi dish. They were tasty and had a nice texture, but I would expect a side of meatballs, at $2 EACH meatball, to come on a side plate with some red sauce. Nope. Not here. Chicken parm was tender, breaded and deep fried, but not pounded out thinly as we would prefer. The red sauce was consumed by the flavor of onions, and large chunks of onion and tomato littered the sauce. It overshadowed the tomato flavor entirely, unfortunately. The angel hair pasta itself was cooked al dente, but it was not drained well. My companion drained the excess water from the bottom of the dish onto a side plate in order to try to salvage dinner. It worked as a quick fix, but should never be necessary in a place deemed an Italian restaurant. They did forgive us the cost of the gnocchi dinner, which we appreciated because we only ate 3 bites. Sadly, there were just too many problems and inconsistencies for us. We will look elsewhere for decent Italian food.

It's just not working for me. I've eaten here twice now and this last time was kind of ridiculous. An hour wait for our entrees to come out and we didn't have any appetizers besides the soup and salad that are complimentary with your dinner. Besides it taking forever, there must've been a new chef on that night because basic dishes took a turn for the worst. A white wine sauce that you'd order for a scampi came out tasting and looking like Alfredo, some of the dishes were cold, the steamed veggies were soggy, the beef tenderloin entree was a steak filet just sliced into bites and plated as-is, and the portions were either too large (pasta dishes) while the others were on the small side (all fish entrees). There is just no consistency with Costello's. The wait for our food to come out sucked the fun right out of the night (it was just *that* long) and it seemed like the kitchen was having a rough time despite the place not being too busy and no large parties in the back room. It just wasn't worth it for us. I'd like to give them another chance, but I doubt it will happen since our experience was just that bad this last time around. For what it's worth, the decor inside is very inviting and the servers are always great. It's just a shame things weren't running smoothly in the back of the house because everything else was just fine.

We are in the process of moving to this area, and stumbled upon Costello's. The food each of us ordered was great! Even my teenagers loved their food. I love the french dip sandwich. Everything we have tried on the menu has been delicious, and we are all picky. We come back every time we are in town, about 6x so far.
