Who woulda thought Downingtown would have a bomb pizza joint like this. It looks like an old wawa converted into a pretty nice pizza place. I work in the area, and we needed to buy a quick bite for lunch for the office. I literally Yelped pizza and this had a best reviews I ordered a pie of Brooklyn Style Pizza..it took 20mins. It's a square pizza with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and olive oil. It's was so good! Perfectly thin slices, not too crispy, and each piece was covered in cheese and tomatoes. Even the crust was good! It's a nice change to taste fresh flavors on a slice. We ordered a pie for 4 people, and we killed it. I'll definitely be back to pick up pies for more office lunches!

I getting to like this place a lot. I've been here a lot for takeout and have yet to be dissapointed. Latest visit was for a Sicilian Pie with xtra cheese. Terrific pizza. The cheesesteak stromboli is also outstanding ! I shall return for more!!

Solid pizza for the hinterland. Have enjoyed the Paoli location and was happy to discover this location housed in a former Wawa storefront. Ordered traditional pie, half pepperoni. Crust was very good. Cheese a little greasy but overall a decent pie. Pepperoni was tasty. Staff was friendly. Pizza was ready for pickup right on time.

Give this place some love and stop in, or call for take out! Great food and the people who work there are awesome. We had a very last minute and spontaneous get together with 10-12 people, and they were very accommodating with our order. Everything we ordered was great, but my favorite was the Brooklyn pizza - very tasty!

This was our first time trying out Spatola's and we are definitely impressed. The cheese pizza was just about perfect. We also tried the Trenton special, thinking it would be like a fresh margherita but it was more like a regular cheese with extra tomato sauce, garlic, and olive oil. The result was mushy with too-thin crust, but it was still good. I would definitely recommend it. It's worth the extra buck or two over crappy chain pizza like Papa Johns.

Excellent pizza. They don't hold back on ingredients in terms of quality of quantity. It's a little greasy which personally I find to be sinfully amazing but it could be an issue for some with delicate digestive systems.

This location was formerly Joey's Pizza. The restaurant reopened about a month ago as Spatola's Pizza. Much better pizza! I recently tried their "Veggie" pizza. The crust was nice & crispy, notable considering this was a veggie pizza. Loaded with toppings, and delicious. Haven't tried anything else yet, but just this one style pizza will have me returning.

I'm from Jersey and pretty picky about my pizza. I was hesitate to try this place because it looked like an old wawa. I was pleasantly surprised! We love the pizza. Great sauce, cheese and quality toppings. Definitely our new pizza spot.

Spatola's is a great pizza placed. Our family is really enjoying having a quality pizza place in that location. The previous place was awful and we were hesitant to try something new, but we are glad we did. We have had the sicilian pizza and the traditional pizza. So far my favorite is the traditional. I love the sauce and the cheese is not too greasy, even with the pepperoni I thought the sicilian crust was a little too chewy and it is cut different every time we get it, but it's still really good. Favorite sicilian will always be Rocco's. Another huge bonus for us is that they offer gluten free pizza. My kids are gluten sensitive and LOVE this pizza. I wish they offered a large sized gluten free pizza.

Allow me to be the first to review the newest pizza shop in Downingtown... "Welcome to Downingtown Spatola's!!!" This place has been open for about a month now, and like all new restaurants in the area I was curious to see what they had to offer. I must say though, I was a little hesitant to give this place a try because of how consistently good the pizza is from our local go-to pizza shop (Coco's). Nonetheless, some neighbors had tried the pizza here and said it was good so we figured it would be worth giving it a try. My wife was hungry for Sicilian pizza tonight, so we decided to order from Spatola's and see what they had to offer. With that said, this review is based solely on the Sicilian pizza. When I arrived to pick up the pizza, I was impressed by the renovated decor and cleanliness. This is definitely a place I would bring the family to for lunch or dinner. I eagerly drove home to get my hands on a slice of deliciousness that I had smelled all the way home. After sinking my teeth into the first bite, I am happy to say that Downingtown now has another option for good pizza! Spatola's delivered on all three elements of a good pizza: 1) Crust with a nice crunch on the bottom and edges, yet chewy, 2) Sauce that's great tasting with all of the right spices, and 3) Quality cheese that doesn't leave a puddle of grease on your plate. I ate 6 slices (atypical for me!), so anything less than a great review wouldn't be fair. At $15.75, they are a touch higher priced than most local places but I am always willing to pay for quality eats. Spatola's, well done. You have lured me in with your Sicilian pizza, so I will most certainly be back to try the traditional pizza and other menu items. Keep it up, and I will be sure to update my review with an earned fifth star! If you are hesitant in trying this place because it's new, just try it out and please Yelp your experience. There have been many mediocre pizza places that have turned over at this location, so good local places like this one will only thrive with support and positive reviews. **** 4 solid stars from me ****

On my quest to find above average pizza near Upper Uwchlan township, I noticed Spatola's with 4 stars on 7 reviews, so I'll try it out. I ordered a pepperoni pizza, mozzarella sticks, and a buffalo chicken cheesesteak with mushrooms and onions. It was all average. While nothing wrong with it, the pizza was not memorable at all. The only thing that jumped out at me was that it was very greasy. The buffalo chicken cheesesteak could have used more hot sauce. I was also disappointed to find out that they do not deliver, not a major strike, but when there are so many pizza places in the area, what's up with that??? And I scratched my head even harder when I went there to pick it up and there where four employees standing around, and not a single person dining-in at the restaurant - you couldn't have jumped in the car, charged a delivery fee, and brought it to me?

The only problem I have with Spatola's is deciding between a regular pie, or a Brooklyn. Also, their salads are always a great idea!

Lots of options for pizza in the area and this is our go to place. Really love their pizza sauce. Its sweeter than other places which we love. Service is top notch too. :-)

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
