The refurbished Baker's is great! I remember eating at the old place from way back when I was a kid, but the new place is even better. Fast service, friendly wait staff, and the food is right on par with what you'd expect for a highway diner, nothing fancy or especially gourmet, but the food typically hits the spot. Also, fresh baked pies!!!! So, that's a huge plus.

We stopped by Baker's for breakfast/brunch as we were passing through Dillsburg on a road trip on a Sunday. There was a 20-25 minute wait so we sat at the bar. It had a cute diner feel and ended up being comfortable for us. Being from out of state, I wanted to try their Cream Chipped Beef. It was good but one of my friends who also ordered it and has had it from various restaurants felt like it lacked some flavor. I thought the homefries with mediocre and somewhat greasy but my boyfriend seemed to enjoy them. The pancakes he ordered were round and they tasted good with syrup. ;) While we didn't order desert, we sat in front of the desert counter and the many options all looked amazing! I would highly recommend stopping by if you have a sweet tooth. Our server was attentive but the food took a while to come out. Prices were very reasonable.

I was going to give it 3 stars based on our dining-in experience: we stopped here on the way home from a Hershey sports tournament and were starving -- so expectations were pretty low. Despite all the cars outside, we were seated fairly quickly - it looks like they have a lot of room. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and the food came out fairly quickly. My son said he liked his hamburger, which l thought looked dry. I happen to like liver so I ordered it off the menu. It came out just like your mom used to make it -- tough, lacking seasoning and slathered in gravy and onions to try to make up for it. If your cook/chef doesn't like making something, and it sure seemed like there was a lot of disdain for liver based on that plate, you should take it off the menu. What brought it down to a 1 star, however, was the Napolean cake that my son ordered to go. When we got home, he opened it up, took one bite, then asked his dad, "Is that mold?" YES. YES, IT WAS MOLD. I see that one of the previous reviewers said it had failed a food/health inspection, and I now know why I should check Yelp before ever stepping into an unknown restaurant.

Diner right off the Highway that begs to be eaten at! While the sandwiches are great I would say the breakfast (at anytime of day or night) is the bomb! My daughter for the eggs Benedict, sin had french toast and wife the 3 egg omelet - all were great. I had the flounder wrapped around spinach and feta and it was also great.

This prominent diner along route 15 beckons every driver passing with its bright lights and tall profile. What do they have? Food! They have food. Both times that I've come here, the food has been decent. Nothing terrible, nothing special. My toast was always coated evenly with a butter-like substance, but the bread was basic. The home fries met the minimum standards for satisfaction, but I do mean minimum: they were bland. The garlic bread looked and tasted like Texas Toast Garlic Bread (the frozen kind at the supermarket), but I wasn't expecting a gourmet masterpiece. Lighting, space, restrooms were decent. So why two stars instead of three? The service. Slow. S * L * O * W. SLOOOO..... you get the idea. The first time I ate here, my wife and I considered leaving before our meal was served because our waitress seemed to have permanently disappeared after taking our drink order. Months later, I forgot the reason we were unhappy with our first meal and we ate there again, only to recall our past experience just as we sat down. We timed our service, and it took just about 30 minutes from being seating to having our order taken. After ordering some breakfast food (typically something that arrives quickly in a diner), we once again waited, and waited, and waited ... and were just getting up to leave when our food arrived. Conclusion: There's no reason for a restaurant, especially one of this size, to be overwhelmed, barring some exceptional circumstance. The restaurant controls seating, which means it shouldn't seat more people than it can serve. So please, Baker's Diner Restaurant, train the staff better and err on the side of serving too few people instead of too many. Once you get a hold on service, experiment with making the food more exciting, and people will come for the food instead of a flashy building.

We come here once or twice a year as we travel to New York. It is consistently excellent if you are looking for breakfast. Everything is cooked to order exactly how you want it. Think crunchy bacon. The hash browns melt in your mouth. The restaurant is imacculatt, as are the restrooms. Your food is delivered in a timely manner by friendly efficient waitresses. We especially appreciate the tidy well lit parking lot where you can park your car in front of the dinner windows. Your pets will enjoy watching you eat, while you in turn can keep an eye on them. This is very helpful at 3:00 am. If you make it past the extensive pastry counter, then you are a better girl than I am! They have it all, cannolis, cheesecake, pie ect.

My family and I came here for a late snack. It was packed with loud college kids. It was hard to do anything there besides eat. For drinks, we ordered hot coffee which was cold and had to be microwaved as well as hot tea (hot water and a Lacas tea bag) which tasted similar to Lipton. For snacks, we ordered hot soup - French onion soup and Pumpkin Bisque. The French onion soup was salty. It had thinly sliced onions, baguette, and mozzarella cheese. The Pumpkin Bisque was sweet, extremely thick, and had a weird grainy texture. For desserts, we ordered a lemon berry cake which consisted of lemon cake with fresh blueberries, custard, and dusted with powdered sugar as well as a pumpkin cheesecake which had a strong nutmeg flavor.

Food was good. Seemed fresh and clean. Mgmt and staff was helpful in dealing with food allergies. Nothing exciting outside the diner genre, but well executed with decent prices. Tzatziki was Very Garlicky (and good!). Cajun gumbo got an "ok" by the Cajun food fan in our group-good enough to for a joint in the middle of PA. We will remember this place for future roadside stops.

Scary awful.only exists due to elderly locals and dillsburg residents having a high resistance to food poisoning.managers arent available to handle complaints.found to be out of compliance with pa food safety regulations recently for more than typical reasons (read : serving rotten food and just basically having a gross kitchen).get harrassed by locals if you voice any issues with order or bill.food here that isnt going to make you sick is pretty blah blah blah diner fare.prices arent the greatest either.DONT EVER order chicken.EVER.its all clearly precoocked and reheated by flash frying and this will somehow include "grilled" chicken.go figure.go somewhere else.camp hill is close.theres other diners in dillsburg.skip this one.

Found a hair in my food and manager couldn't be bothered to come to table, he was more interested in talking to another female. The waitress was very apologetic and replaced food. I will not be going back!

I recently waited out a snowstorm here. I'm biased because this is my hometown, but it felt good to sit around listening to camouflaged locals talk about high school wrestling and deer hunting. The waitresses are charming, the breakfast was pretty good and the roadside location is perfect for weary travelers. I'd like to say the menu was local and homemade, but it seemed like most of it came right off the SYSCO truck. What? No chicken corn chowder? No pork and sauerkraut? You can get better food at one of the crossroads taverns up in the hills. I am sure they can improve on this, since the staff seems so motivated and friendly. If you're tired and hungry and snowed in on Route 15, this is the place to be.

The quality of the food has gone down tremendously over the last couple of years. It is convenient to my home, but I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon. Everytime I have gone to the restaurant and ordered a meal, they were out of whatever it was I was ordering...or it was a component of the meal that was missing. Have you ever heard of a restaurant running out of lettuce? Me either.

I've passed by Baker's every weekend for almost four years, and never went until recently. Overall? It's the quintessential diner, complete with a menu burdened with so many choices and options that it borders on overload. The food's what you expect from a diner: decent food with large portions. My wife and I both got the patty melt, and it was pretty much flawless. Cooked well, served right. We also got a side of Baker's Fries (basically cheeseless poutine) that were fairly tasty. First impressions were decent enough that I'll definitely stop by again the next time I pass through Dillsburg. Only disappointment? Our food came with a side of coleslaw served in a teeny lil' condiment cup... and, uh, I wanted more. A lot more! I'm very picky when it comes to coleslaw, but Baker's hit all the right notes. Pony up on the coleslaw! It's good!

Food wasn't good at all. In fact it was pretty gross. Had the burger melt and fries. The fries almost will do tasted like Wendy's. The patty of the burger was a frozen one that didn't get cooked all the way. The onions on it were almost as thick as the patty. My sister got the grilled chicken triple decker. Definitely not needed to be a triple decker. She barely are it. Also, everything tasted like it had been injected with salt. Side note...the manager got called over to the table behind us. The man there complained about his burger and the manager asked if he read the menu before he ordered it. The manager didn't have a rude tone but definitely inappropriate.

I've been here twice now and have pleased both times. I'm from Jersey and it reminds me of the diners back home. Big portion sizes for a good price. Giant menu selection. I had wonderful waitresses both times too. I would definitely recommend it for some good old fashioned diner food.

No stars at all. 3 tables of customers in the place. We waited 20 minutes and no one came to take our order. We were nearest the cashier and there were 4 employees milling nearby. We left.

Great breakfast. I had a spinach n feta omelette. Very light and fluffy. I enjoyed the crispy potatoes. My finance enjoyed his breakfast as well. He had the breakfast special eggs, sausage potatoes and French toast. I stole a bite of the French toast as it looked delish! I was right! I had ice tea as I am a coffee snob. Very clean and nice decor spacious. Our server Bret was a very friendly and did a great job. If you are in the area definitely stop. The desserts in the case looks great.

I've been here for close to an hour and a half now! This service is Litterally the WORST EVER!!!!!! unless you have a spare 2-3 hours then don't come here! I gave them one star cause I can't give them 0 or negative! I'm really pissed off! It will be a long while before I return!

Not a bad place. Good food, good prices. Service is usually decent. They are popular because you almost always have to wait in the evening. My wife and I eat there a lot on Fridays when we work together in Dillsburg. We work on the ambulance and the staff is always very accommodating if we get called out. It is nice that they are open around the clock because we can always come back later to settle the bill and pick up our food. Great selection of diner fare. Breakfasts are very good too. No complaints from us.

Hungry heading down Rt 15, this diner fit the bill for hungry travellers. Just an average diner to fill some empty stomachs. The Bakers club was a winner. The fried shrimp basket was ok and the steakhouse salad had a good serving of steak on iceberg lettuce. Conveniently located for a quick in and out.

Nothing spectacular here. I liked the waitress a lot, and the food was solid. I had pretty good biscuits and gravy, as well as a fried egg sandwich. Basic diner food served by nice people.

This is a decent Diner to eat at. I tried an omelet with Swiss cheese, mushrooms & Bacon, with an English muffin & a side of home fries and a tomato juice. My Wife had the red velvet pancakes (2 stack) with powered sugar and glaze and a hot tea. The serving size was far from Huge as other reviewers posted. Pretty reasonably priced too. If we are back in the area we will eat here again. What made our breakfast extra special is that someone unbeknownst to us acted as a secret Santa and paid kindness forward by picking up our tab on our first breakfast of 2014. Very cool !

Have been stoping here for ten years and then many a year ago it must have changed hands. The food has gone down hill since then. The waitress that worked their slowly disappeared and new ones hired. Plenty of items on the menu so we kept trying something new every time we would stop. We travel from Central Pa to northern Va so this is about half way. This time we stopped for lunch had to be the worst lunch I ever had. The tuna melt my wife had looked like mashed spam and had no taste. I had a crab cake melt served on a English muffin . All bread and no taste the cheese didn't even taste like cheese worst ever. We will have to find another place, very disappointed that this place has gotten so bad. Over the passed year we have tried different Items wishing for better results but it didn't happen. Say good bye to bakers, and I think a lot of people have said the same thing.

We were thinking location when we stopped here one Sunday evening. It was crowded so we were optimistic that we would enjoy our meal. Not the case. There were few redeeming qualities, but we did get fed a lot of food. For $8.99 I got a broasted chicken dinner consisting of half a FRIED chicken, a cup of very salty soup, a side of sweet and thick with mayo broccoli salad, and another side of the most bland corn that even salt and pepper could not improve. Did I mention that the portions are huge? He ordered meatloaf dinner complete with a plain side iceberg salad (probably the best part of the meal), two large slices of the meatloaf which were described as worse than what he got in the army mess hall, sides of mashed potatoes and dressing, all left mostly uneaten and this boy usually cleans his plate. Gravy was horrid. $8.99 also. Did I mention that the portions are huge? Service was not the best though friendly. Dinner was very slow to appear. We repeatedly had to ask to get more water and tea, and it always came in a new cup. We did note that the iced tea was good as was the water, although more lemon did not come as requested with the refill glass. Oh, the portions are huge. Too bad we did not want to eat the food. But many customers must be usual patrons as they were also huge! We will not be returning.

Husband and I had never been to Baker's but have been driving by for years. Decided to try something new for breakfast and ended up there. Overall just mediocre. They did not have enough staff so there was a wait even though there were lots of empty tables. I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon which same with homefries and I ordered one piece of french toast. While nothing was outright bad, the food was all cold! The french toast wouldn't melt the butter whatsoever right after it arrived at the table. My husband thought his sunnyside up egg was a bit underdone as well (some of the transparent white was still there). the toast was cold too so that the butter wouldn't melt on that either. The potatoes were really bland but the crispy parts were nice. I will say they didn't skimp on the bacon, way more than one person needs and it explains the huge price jump from eggs to eggs with bacon. Flavor was nice but a little burnt and a little greasy at the same time, more like it was cooked on a dirty griddle than actually burnt. Coffee was hot and came with free refills. Wondered about how good the pancakes were but we didn't order, belgian waffles looked good and fresh and might have been a better bet. Too mediocre for the drive or another look. Next time we'll eat a home. Husband also got ham which was ample. Get more help so the food doesn't sit! Cold eggs etc. are not my cup of tea.

I drive by this place about four times a year, but this is the first time I stopped. I was actually aiming for Wendy's but my wife talked me into Baker's. I'm glad she did. The place looks nice and inviting from the outside, inside is the same. Bathrooms were clean & stocked. We were there mid-day so it was quite. Everything went well, the server was friendly and helpful; she saved us money by telling me the best way to order the burger & fries I wanted, instead of me trying to customize one of the fancy burgers on the menu. We also ordered soup and a turkey wrap. The food was decent and priced fairly. They don't serve Coke (Is Pepsi okay?) - I'll have water with lemon please. The only negative was the cold & unwelcoming hostess/cashier. I would stop again, - even when approaching from the northbound side (cross-traffic is a problem).

Excellent diner! Fresh, homemade entrees. My personal favorites are the chicken francaise, flounder florentine, broasted chicken and Baker's chicken. Desserts are very tasty, if a bit pricey.

Typical diner food. It's not terrible, and it's fairly reasonable price wise. If I were doing the review on the food alone, I could give it three stars easily. Unfortunately, I have two problems with Baker's that will prevent me from ever going back. The first is that if you're traveling North on Route 15, it's inconvenient to get to. If you turn prior to the restaurant, you have to travel behind a Wendy's, through a very rough gravel parking lot, and finally into the restaurant parking lot. Miss that turn, and you have to make a U-turn. When leaving, if you need to get back on 15 North, you have to go at least two stoplights South, and even then you can't simply make a U-turn (legally), but instead have to turn into a gas station, and then turn around. This is a very inconvenient factor for most travelers who are trying to get from point A to point B. My second problem with Baker's is the locals. When we stopped in, we were treated to a table of two very obnoxious young girls, who we speculated were locals because they knew several people there, and in turn were known by others. These girls were giggling loudly, making inappropriate comments, and made for a very disruptive and uncomfortable meal. It's great that Baker's has support from the locals, but at the same time it makes it a difficult place to visit for your average traveler looking to get a break from the road, and a hot meal. Both the inconvenience of getting there, and the obnoxiousness of the locals is enough to keep me from coming back on my next pass through Dillsburg.

Love love love this place, Jeffery went above & beyond to make my sister's visit from England special, everything is always excellent. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Breakfast, lunch or dinner; or just stop by for a piece of pie, everything is always freshly prepared & scrumptious.

Lived in the area for 6 years now and made our first trip to Bakers for breakfast on Sunday. The place has recently been remodeled and they did a really nice job of it. I had the French toast with eggs and bacon. Everything was prepared well. My wife had the creamed beef over toast and she too enjoyed it. Server was very friendly. We will definitely be back.

I've only been to Baker's Diner once, but it sure was a nice evening! I went with two of my friends at Messiah College (since everyone at Messiah seems to go here!) on a Friday "night" (we were there from 1am-6am talking!) and it was great. The waitresses were really sweet and understanding, and didn't bother to kick us out! I love that this place is open 24/7! The quality of the food was not that great. My pancakes were served with a sicky sweet strawberry syrup in excess, and the bacon and homefries were not that great either. I also got a chocolate chip cookie around 4:30am, but it tasted more like an Italian butter cookie with a few chocolate chips thrown on it (not even baked in) so that was unfortunate! Basically, come here for the experience, not for high quality food!

Have stopped here few times never very good. Last nite stopped got the classic sirloin steak ordered it medium, can out well done! Server asked if wanted box take home said no it not eatting here certainly not eatting at home! Cashier asked how everything was said won't be back. She never asked what's wrong or anything! Told her that's really a great way to keep customers. I will be telling people not to go there. Drive to camp hill and get food if you are smart!!!

The menu is extensive ranging from breakfast to dinner. My Bourbon pork chops were a bit dry, cheddar mashed potatoes were just covered in a generic cheese sauce, bourbon glaze was tasty though. My wife's Cob Salad looked fabulous, fresh greens, crisp and bright. The shredded turkey was real turkey not cold cuts which was a nice touch. Chocolate chip pancakes were good size and had great flavor. Only down side of whole visit was the service, not sure our server wasn't new, but four trips back to the kitchen to complete our meal service (including syrup which was the final trip.

We were on a road trip from Lock Haven to D.C. when we stopped at this diner for dinner. We were ushered to a booth in the corner, and ordered our meals. Out of our party of four, we ordered a chicken salad, gyro sandwich with fries, a Caesar salad, and the Italian trio with manicotti, stuffed shells, and ravioli. Our food was brought to us quite slowly, considering how un-crowded it was in the dining area. The chicken salad was okay, and the tomato unripe. The Caesar salad was another "okay", but happened to only have dressing on one side... The gyro sandwich was pretty good, and the fries considerably warm and tasty. The Italian trio was INCREDIBLY hot, and cooked only on one side. The sauce was sweet. Overall, our experience at Baker's was okay, not really an amazing place. We most likely will not be returning.

We have driven past Bakers for years on our trips to and from NYC. Today, we stopped and we were not disappointed. Good diner, clean restrooms and attentive service. We tried the meatloaf and a Dillsburg burger. Meatloaf had good flavor and the hamburger was definitely fresh beef - never frozen. Try the Chicken Supreme soup - we are waiting for our next trip to have another bowl.

This was the second time I've been here. First time was about 2 years ago, second time today. Although I don't remember what I had the first time, I know I thought it was pretty good, good enough to try it again. Actually it was the memory of the cucumber and onion Salad that drew me back. More on that later. While It is a little tricky to get to the parking lot, as one reviewer pointed out it appears you need to go through Wendy's parking lot if coming north on rt 15, actually there is a road just past Wendy's that clearly takes you there. Once you find this road it's easy to get back on the highway. Now that you are there, the Diner itself appears to have gone through a nice refresh, and is quite large and very clean. Nice seating, tables and Booths and it looks like it could seat well over a hundred at a time. We got there around 4:30 in the afternoon in the middle of the week. Not that many people, but we were seated quite a way from the entry. No problem, the waitress was very prompt, friendly, and attentive and chatty. I ordered the massive battered Flounder filet 11.99 and my friend the pork filets on rice 10.99. We both had the New England Clam Chowder, instead of salad and it was very tasty, I'm not a huge fan of New England style chowder, but this was yummy. The other side we both ordered was the Cucumber and Onion salad. Indeed this was the main reason we stopped again. It's very simple, but damn it's good. The sliced cucumbers and onions are in a sweet white sauce, almost like a creamy coleslaw sauce, but not. Hard to describe, and disassemble, but as my friend said after a couple bites "I'm saving this for Dessert" My order was very good, but not fantastic, but for a piece of battered fried fish, it was done just about right crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I noticed my friends plate was clean, (it was a large portion) so I take this as a good sign. We didn't try dessert, but it looked very good. Each of us however did take a double order of cucumber salad home to our wives, it was that good. When we left after about an hour, the place was nearly full. It appears the locals like this place, so that's a good endorsement for anyone. It maybe a while before we get back to the area, but this is definitely on the Must Stop list, if nothing else, for the Cucumber salad.

It's okay, I almost want to give the place 2 stars but it really deserves the 3rd. It's a really clean diner.. which are usually pretty hard to come by. Nice interior and exterior. My server was really nice, and got us everything we needed. The toast of my club was burnt though, and that sort of ruined my entire sandwich. I was a server for 5 years, and I always checked my food before I brought it to the customer. It was really noticeable. I feel bad giving such a bad review, I may come back and give them a second chance... if so I'll update this. But as of right now, this is unfortunately where it stands.

Baker's has been a great place that I've been going for over 20 years but this is the first time I've been there since they remodeled. The place looks amazing and service was faster than ever. Food is still good, nothing fancy just your normal diner fare, but I'd eat almost anything on the menu.

I have read the reviews below and I must have hit the establishment on the best day all year. The waitstaff was more than friendly, the doorman was pleasant and smiled. Breakfast came quick, plentiful and hit the spot. Our server delivered a meal to the next table and noticed the yolk was broken on the egg. She insisted that the kitchen would replace the egg and the ,meal if the customer wished IT. ......... .I haven't had service like that in even the upper end establishments let alone a highway Dinning said.

Bakers is a diner with an identity crisis. They want so hard to be more. The menu features basic diner quality food at decent prices. But in addition to typical diner selections, there are menu items that you would expect to find at a real restaurant... Only diner quality.

We ate here on the way home. In spite of the name of the restaurant they do not do their own baking but buy their baked goods from somewhere else. Typical diner and the menu would make any hill billy happy! I need to add that I had a soda and it tasted like dirt! They did not change it for me!

considering the selection in the area, and this place is 24 hrs, i like! :o) and the waitress was super awesome! :o) they are not the cheapest place, i was struggling to find a full meal under $8. Their specials were only $.50 less than the regular meals. the food was pretty decent, diner fare. i was kind of surprised and impressed with their seafood trio. i would've added more salt, but that's easy enough to remedy. would definitely go again, more specifically late at nite. i'm sure there are more bargains to be had on their breakfast menu. :o)

I've been here a handful of times since ownership last changed. I would say the decor is great, service pretty good, food is generally A-OK. It's what one would expect from a typical diner. They have a vast menu. Really the best thing I've had there so far has been the buffalo chicken salad. This is a whole meal, complete with very spicey chicken on a huge salad bowl. If you like spicey food, and are hankering for a salad, this is a must try. The desserts looked good, but I don't really remember ordering anything for dessert there. Perhaps nothing really struck me as a "you gotta have this, even if you're already stuffed" dessert. Overall, the prices were fair, with few real bargain specials, nor many very pricey entrees. The parking lot is almost always full of cars, and this diner has been a landmark for a long time.

Good diner food, but prices are above average for the amount they put on the plate. Staff was friendly and the service was good. Food was served quickly but not like a fast food joint. I've been back to eat.

This is a decent diner stop. We are regulars for breakfast. Service is fast and staff are friendly.

Stopped to eat here on our way home to NY from VA. My in-laws eat here every time they make the trip down to us so we thought it was worth a shot. Service was fine but the food was terrible. I barely ate two bites of my hot open turkey and the waitress didn't take it off the check, despite my not wanting it wrapped.

Driven by this place a million times on route 15, but Sunday night was the first time we stopped in. 2 fresh blueberry pancakes the size of your plate - $3.99 1 veggie omelet with home fries and toast - $5 and change The food came out quickly and tasted just like breakfast diner food should they had a pretty decent pie and cake list so we took 2 to go: peanut butter chocolate cake - the peanut butter was yummy but the chocolate cake was dry. bummer key lime pie - this is really the first time i tried it so i don' t know. it was better than i thought, but the crust was not good at all. pies and cakes were around $3 each. I say if you're hungry on 15 and you don't want to eat fast food, then this is a good place to stop

I've been here several times and I've always been a little disappointed. I usually stop in if I'm in the area and craving diner food but even by diner standards the food is just OK. There's a pretty expansive menu but I wouldn't order from the entree selections. Breakfast or desserts are usually decent. Service here can be hit or miss and it usually depends on how crowded it is at the time. During the busy hours it often seems a little understaffed. Overall it's not a bad place. Though it's been recently renovated to look the part, it still lacks some of that diner charm for me.

Not the best food for your money. This place is more for transient folk, not one where the locals hang out, because the management treats both their staff and customers as numbers and not people. I agree with the other reviewer, if you'd prefer an authentic diner experience, try Wolfe's down the road. It's an institution for Messiah college students, dyed-in-the-wool Dillsburg natives, and lovers of old-fashioned diners alike.

Sorry to say it folks -- the desserts look good, but don't be fooled. Some friends and I stopped in for lunch yesterday, and while the lunch sandwiches were decent, the pie was the worst I've had in recent memory. I was there with 4 other adults, and each of us got some kind of sandwich. The friend to my right tried the buffalo chicken wrap, which looked like chicken strips and thousand island dressing? He said the sauce was NOT good, and it didn't taste anything like buffalo sauce (or thousand island dressing for that matter). I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was fine. The chicken was cooked right, but was pretty greasy. The fries seemed old/not fresh. They were a disappointment. After eating, a few of us wanted to try the key lime pie (which the server said was great -- actually she said ALL the pies are great, although she admitted they are not homemade). We got one piece to split and I am SO glad we didn't each get one. First of all, real key lime pie has a creamy consistency with a tang, and should have a graham crust. If there is any topping it should be lightly applied, and should be cream of some sort. What we GOT was a lime-meringue pie, and not a good one. The crust was like cardboard. The lime filling was some kind of transparent green goo that tasted way too tart, glue-y, and nothing like real key lime. The topping was a full layer (thicker than the lime) of merigue-like substance that tasted about like styrofoam. I ate two bites and couldn't do any more. For me that's saying a LOT -- I love key lime pie. I actually complained to the owner, who ADMITTED he didn't know what key lime pie is supposed to be like, but that's what it says on the box of the pies they buy in. Service: 3 stars (the server was fine, although not very attentive to our table) Speed: 3 stars (average) Lunch food: 2 stars Dessert: 1 star WON'T GO BACK. For my money, Brother's restaurant (just up 15 north a few miles) is MUCH MUCH BETTER.

Pros - relatively cheap, easy to get to, decent parking, good desserts (if you believe what others have told me) Cons - nothing exciting on the menu, rude staff, incompetent server Ate here tonight - 4 adults and 3 kids. Men both ordered prime rib. Ladies both ordered the "Baker's Chicken". One kid got an egg and bacon sandwich off the breakfast menu, the other two got chicken corn soup and tossed salads. The "Baker's Chicken" was good. A good sized, nicely seasoned chicken breast topped with broccoli, crab meat, and a Swiss cheese sauce. It was about 10-11 dollars and I'd get it again. The men's prime rib was terrible. The server entered the wrong order and brought out BBQ ribs - which looked like a big dark brown loaf of something with sauce squirted on top. When they told the server that it wasn't what they ordered, she apologized and said she accidentally pushed the wrong button because they're side by side. She removed the brown thing and went to get the other food. It took forever, the rest of us were eating so our food didn't get cold. She came out at one point and said something like "because it's coming out late I told the cook to make it really well done". If I remember correctly the men ordered it much less than well done. For God's sake . . . we're talking about prime rib. It's best served still mooing, not "very well done". It came to the table about as dark brown as the "loaf" of ribs that she had brought out. To quote my husband, it was "God awful - like choking down a piece of shoe leather". During the wait there wasn't any offer of rolls or anything to keep their hunger at bay. They didn't even offer to comp their entrees. So they paid just under 15 bucks for garbage that you wouldn't feed a dog. By the time they ate the rest of us were almost done and at least one of the kids was restless and running/crawling all over the place. For a PA diner, this was the worse chicken corn soup I have ever seen. It was mostly broth and it was really thin - not like the really good stuff that has a thicker base. Plus, it really didn't taste that good. Several of us ordered broccoli as a side. It tasted, to quote one of our diners, like "watery green stuff". Even my kids wouldn't touch it and they love love love broccoli. One kid tried to eat the cheese whiz type of topping that came on mine - but didn't finish it. When a toddler doesn't eat the cheese sauce you know there's something not quite right. The seafood bisque I had a nice flavor but it was ruined by the inclusion of artificial krab. Would it have killed them to toss in some real crab meat or a few little salad shrimp? Would I eat there again? Maybe. I'd get the Baker's Chicken (or whatever it's called) and have dessert - I hear they have really good dessert. The coffee also smelled really good when we came in the door and my husband said it also tasted good. So 1 star for service, 4 stars for the chicken, 0 stars for the prime rib, 4 stars for location, 1 star for the chicken corn soup, 2 stars for the seafood bisque, and 5 stars for the desserts that people say are sooooo good (that I honestly haven't tried).

Happened by this diner last night on a road trip back from Maine. We were all pleasantly surprised with the selection offered. I ordered the ham loaf, mashed potatoes and lima beans. It was all good except for the pineapple glaze on the ham loaf. The rest of my family ordered the belly buster ( a 10oz portion of haddock deep fried)! It was delicious as were their sides of filling (dressing) and cole slaw. The dessert was amazing...shared the bow tie cheesecake and peanut butter blast. Looking forward to stopping back again soon.
